POWER STEERING FAILURE MULTIPLE TIMES. AGGRAVATED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TELLING ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SYSTEM, EVEN AFTER BEING PROVIDED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLITIN PUT OUT BY GM. LAST FAILURE ALMOST RESULTED IN A CRASH INTO A MATTRESS STORE DUE TO FAILURE AT THE APEX OF A TURN.*AK UPDATE (10/13/08): THE POWER STEERING BECAME INOPERATIVE DURING A RIGHT HAND TURN, AS IF THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF. AT THAT POINT THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE BECAME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. I WAS UNABLE TO COMPLETE MY TURN, HOWEVER I WAS ABLE TO "COAST" TO THE CURB AND OUT OF TRAFFIC. THE POWER STEER STEERING STAYED INACTIVE FOR MULTIPLE ON/OFF STARTS. THEN ONE OF THE STARTS IT STARTED TO WORK. THE POWER STEERING COLUMN / RACK WERE REPLACED WITH A RE-MANUFACTURED UNIT.
JUST BOUGHT THE CAR USED. WITHIN ONE DAY THE POWER STEERING WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DRIVER'S INFORMATION CENTER. DID SOME RESEARCH AND NOTICED THAT AN INVESTIGATION WAS BEING DONE. *AK
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND NOTICED THAT MY CAR HAD A MIND OF IT OWN. NEXT THING I KNEW, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST MY POWER ASSIST. I PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION AND CALL A TOW TRUCK. NEXT THING I KNEW, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF AND I COULD DRIVE. THE DEALERSHIP IS REPLACING THE DRIVESHAFT FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE 1ST TIME IT WENT OUT AS I ON A CURVE GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY. I'M ALMOST SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR, THERE SEEM TO BE NO WARNING. IT JUST HAPPENS!! TODAY WAS THE THIRD TIME IT HAPPEN IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS. *TR
ABOUT 7 MONTHS AGO I NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT DECREASE IN POWER ASSISTANCE FOR THE STEERING WHILE I WAS PARALLEL PARKING. I HAD TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET IT LOOKED AT ,AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO THEY DID NOTHING. THIS CONTINUED FOR ANOTHER 5 MONTHS AND IT PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE. THEN THE STARTER STOPPED FUNCTIONING PROPERLY, AND THE STARTER GOT REPLACED. THEN THE HEADLIGHTS AND HEAT/ AIR CONDITIONING BLOWER BEGAN DIMMING WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP ALONG WITH THE POWER ASSISTANCE GOING AWAY. SO I TOOK IT THE DEALER, AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP. THIS TIME THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED. THOUGHT THAT WOULD DO IT, BUT A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER THE POWER STEERING PROBLEM CAME BACK. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. SO THEY GAVE ME A DATA LOGGERHEAD RECORD THE PROBLEM. IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING, SO IT PUSHED THE BUTTON AND RECORDED THE PROBLEM. TOOK THE DATA LOGGER BACK, AND I HAVEN'T HEARD BACK FROM THEM SINCE LAST WEEK WHEN I TOOK IT BACK. THIS CAR WAS A NIGHTMARE AND UNSAFE CAR TO DRIVE.*AK
CAR HAS HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS FROM NOT STARTING TO HAVING THE BRAKES REPLACED EVERY 3,000 MILES. DEALER HAS BEEN GOOD ABOUT TAKING CARE OF REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE BUT I FEEL THAT THIS CAR HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT A PROBLEM FROM THE DAY I PICKED IT UP. I AM AT 27,000 MILES AND ON AT LEAST MY 9TH SET OF BRAKES/ROTORS. IT ALSO HAS WHAT I NOW REFER TO AS THE GM SPUTTER START. IF IT DOES START IT SOMETIMES DOESN'T START ON THE FIRST TRY AND SOMETIMES CATCHES AND SPUTTERS BEFORE IT STARTS. HATE THIS CAR. *TR
I HAVE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP WHILE I'M DRIVING AND DISPLAYS THE MESSAGE "POWER STEERING" ACROSS THE STEREO. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL BLOGS ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM AND IS BEING INVESTIGATED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND WOULD LIKE MORE INFORMATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. MY DEALERSHIP KNOWS NOTHING OF THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILS INTERMITTENTLY. THE FAILURE CAUSED HIS VEHICLE TO PULL TO THE LEFT, FORCING HIM TO GRIP THE STEERING WHEEL TO REGAIN CONTROL. HE STATED THAT THERE IS AN OPEN INVESTIGATION (PE07023) FOR THIS FAILURE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NINETEEN COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA'S WEBSITE REGARDING THE SAME FAILURE. WHEN HE TOOK HIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT REPAIRED, THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS THE TORQUE SENSOR OF THE COMPONENT. AS OF AUGUST 9, 2007, THE VEHICLE REMAINS AT THE REPAIR SHOP. THE VIN, FAILURE MILEAGE, AND SPEED WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
WHEN I LEFT MY HOME 2 BLOCKS AWAY I APPROACHED A STOP SIGN AND COMPLETED THE STOP. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF COMPLETING A LEFT HAND TURN WHEN MIDWAY THROUGH THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE ENGINE ALMOST STALLED. THIS CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO BECOME VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP WHICH WAS LESS THAN A .25 MILE AWAY. DURING MY BRIEF TRIP THE STEERING NEVER RETURNED AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN RUFF. THERE WAS ONE REPAIR REGARDING MY POWER STEERING DONE. A PART WAS REPLACED IT WAS SOMETHING LIKE A SERVO MOTOR DEALING WITH THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING. THAT REPAIR WAS DONE SOMETIME IN THE SUMMER OF 2006. THIS TIME NO FAULTS WHERE FOUND IN THE SYSTEM. THERE WAS NO REPAIR DONE TO THE VEHICLE. I FEEL THIS IS NOT THE LAST TIME THIS WILL HAPPEN. *NM
I READ YOUR ARTICLE TODAY REGARDING BRAKE LIGHT PROBLEMS WITH PONTIAC G6. I HAVE HAD TO TAKE MY G6 INTO THE DEALER TWICE FOR BRAKE LIGHT PROBLEMS. IN THE FIRST SCENARIO, MY BRAKE LIGHT WOULD NOT TURN OFF AND CAUSED PROBLEMS WITH MY BATTERY. THIS WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IN THE SECOND INCIDENT, MY BRAKE LIGHT WOULD NOT WORK AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THAT REPAIR. SINCE THE DEALER PERFORMED ALL REPAIRS, THERE IS A RECORD OF REPAIRS ON FILE. I STILL HAVE MY G6 TODAY. *TR
AUTOMATIC START ON VEHICLE FAILED TO WORK. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP, THEY STATED THEY NEEDED TO ORDER A PART. WHEN THE PART WAS IN, RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT INSTALLED. LEFT THE LOCATION, THE AUTOMATIC START TURNED ON THE CAR. WHEN I RETURNED HOME THAT EVENING AND WAS READY TO GO OUT AGAIN, THE AUTOMATIC START TURNED ON THE CAR BUT FAILED TO REMAIN ON FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES. LATER ON IN THE SAME EVENING, THE AUTOMATIC START FAILED TO TURN ON THE VEHICLE, BUT DID TURN ON THE LOCK LIGHTS. RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY STATED THE CAR STARTED WITH NO PROBLEM. LEFT DEALERSHIP AND CAR REFUSED TO START BY AUTOMATIC START. RETURNED AGAIN TO DEALERSHIP WHERE MECHANIC WITNESSED THE AUTOMATIC START FAILURE. THEY AGAIN TESTED IT, AND ONCE AGAIN, THE VEHICLE TURNED ON FOR ONLY A FEW MINUTES. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY SPOKE WITH TECHNICAL SUPPORT, AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT ADVISED IT WAS PROBABLY CELL PHONE INTERFERENCE. I'M APPARENTLY STUCK WITH IT WORKING THAT WAY, HOWEVER, I TURNED OFF MY CELL PHONE TO START THE VEHICLE W/ AUTOMATIC START AND IT STILL FAILED TO DO SO. *NM
MANY TIMES WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE POWER STEERING WOULD TIGHTEN UP WHILE DRIVING SO COULD NOT TURN WHEEL, MAINLY TO LEFT. TOOK 2005 G6 TO DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES ONLY TO BE TOLD THEY COULD NOT FIND A REASON FOR THE PROBLEM. FINALLY IN DECEMBER OF 2006, SON WAS DRIVING CAR, GOING AROUND BEND, STEERING WHEEL DID NOT TURN HE WOUND UP BEING HIT BY AN 18 WHEELER. LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. THEY DID NOT TOTAL CAR, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT, BUT TURNED IT IN 2 MONTHS LATER. PONTIAC IS VERY REMISS IN NOT RECALLING THIS VEHICLE BEFORE SOMEONE DOES GET KILLED. *TR
FIRST, THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, BUT THE POWER STEERING REMAINED OPERABLE. THEREAFTER, THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON TWO OCCASIONS, ONE WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND THE OTHER AT ABOUT 70 MPH WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. THE FAILURE OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING AND THE POWER STEERING WILL COME BACK ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. SO FAR I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PREVENT ANY RESULTING ACCIDENTS, BUT IF THIS FAILURE WERE TO OCCUR MID-TURN THE RESULT COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. *NM
RECURRING ISSUES WITH THE FRONT END AND STEERING ON A 2005 PONTIAC G6. PROBLEM FIRST OCCURRED AT 4000 MILES WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF PURCHASE. ISSUES ARE LOCKING OF THE STEERING, DRIFTS AND WANDERS, SHOOTS UNCONTROLLABILITY TO THE SIDE OF ROAD WHEN HITTING LARGER BUMPS WITHOUT MOVEMENT OF THE STEERING WHEEL, 'LOOSE' NOISES, POPPING AND GENERAL SOUNDS LIKE FRONT IS GOING TO COME OUT FROM UNDER IT. STARTED A 4K MILES, NOW HAS 23K MILES WITH SAME ISSUES AND 6 TRIPS TO 3 DIFFERENT DEALERS. THEY DON'T HAVE A CLUE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND TELL ME IT'S 'NORMAL'. NO INJURIES YET BUT IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME. *TR
MY CAR HAD A POWER STEERING FAILURE ON NOVEMBER 17, 2006. MY WIFE HAD PICKED UP THE CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP, AND WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PULL OUT OF A PARKING LOT, THE STEERING LOCKED. WHEN SHE LET GO OF THE STEERING WHEEL, THE WHEEL TURNED LEFT TO THE STOP WITHOUT OUTSIDE INPUT. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR BACK TO A PARKING LOT, AND THE CAR WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND A STEERING GEAR REPLACED. ON 11/28/2006, MY WIFE PICKED UP THE CAR, AND ON THE WAY HOME, THE STEERING LOCKED WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING. SHE DROVE OFF THE ROAD, HIT A CURB AND SCRAPED A TELEPHONE POLE, RENDERING THE CAR UNDRIVEABLE. GM SENT A TECHNICIAN TO ASSESS THE PROBLEM, AND DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE OF THE POWER STEERING, DESPITE THE FIRST HAND INFORMATION SUPPLIED BY BOTH MY WIFE, AND THE TOW DRIVER STATING THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS LOCKED AND THE WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN. *JB PHONE INTERVIEW UPDATE (MARCH 12, 2007): DEALER THOUGHT THE STEERING PULL WAS CAUSED BY THE RACK AND PINION UNIT AND REPLACED IT. THE STEERING LOCK-UP AFTERWARD AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED. DEALER SERVICE MANAGER FOUND FAULT CODE C0545 FROM THE COMPUTER. GM ISSUED A TSB TO ADDRESS THAT FAULT CODE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE STEERING AND BRAKE PEDAL SHOOK VIOLENTLY. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE IGNITION SWITCH BEEPED AS IF THE KEY WAS INSERTED IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V153000, 14E044000 (STEERING) AND 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 185,598.
THE PONTIAC G-6 WAS PURCHASED IN AUGUST 2005. IN OCTOBER 2006 THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKES WERE WORKING AND THE CAR WAS RUNNING ,BUT I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH WAS LOCKED. I HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, PLACE IN PARK AND TURN THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTART TO UNLOCK THE WHEEL. 8 MONTHS AFTER I HAD IT REPAIRED IT WENT OUT AGAIN. THEY SAID THEY COULD REPAIR I,T BUT THAT THE CAR WAS NOT DOING THIS WHEN THEY DROVE. I COULD NOT PREDICT WHEN IT WAS GOING TO LOCK UP .*AK
I THOUGHT IT WAS ONLY MY PONTIAC G6 THAT HAD POWER STEERING PROBLEMS, BUT IT WAS NOT. AT TIMES WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT, IT TAKES THE STRENGTH OF TWO MEN AND WHEN I TURN IT TO THE RIGHT, ITS SO LOOSE A BABY CAN TURN IT. I EVEN HAD IT BROUGHT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE TO GET IT CORRECTED AND EACH TIME THEY SAID THEY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM, BUT NEVER DID. *TR
THIS IS AN ADDENDUM TO COMPLAINT WITH ODI ID# 10152492. AFTER FIRST STEERING FAILURE, G6 BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP 13 MARCH 2006. DIAGNOSIS CLAIMED THAT STEERING SYSTEM POWER SOURCE WAS EMITTING LOW VOLTAGE. MOTOR AND CONTROLLER ASSEMBLY OF POWER STEERING SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. STEERING FAILED AGAIN ON 29 MAY 2006. G6 BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP NEXT DAY. TECH COULD DETECT NO CURRENT FAULTS UNDER ROAD TEST. NO SERVICE WAS DONE TO VEHICLE. STEERING FAILED 04 AUGUST 2006. G6 BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP SAME DAY. DIAGNOSIS CLAIMED INTERNAL STEERING GEAR FAILURE. WHOLE POWER STEERING SYSTEM AND GEAR ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. RECEIVED CAR MORE THAN FIVE WEEKS LATER ON 12 SEPTEMBER 2006. STEERING FAILED 18 SEPTEMBER 2006. G6 BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP SAME DAY. INVESTIGATION PENDING. IN ALL INSTANCES STEERING FAILED WITHIN MINUTES OF IGNITION. STEERING WHEEL TIGHTENED MODERATELY THEN STIFFENED IMMEDIATELY. SERVICE WRENCH ICON ILLUMINATED FOLLOWED BY POWER STEERING MESSAGE IN DIC DISPLAY. STEERING TOOK INCREASED EFFORT; LIKE OPENING A RUSTY VALVE IN ORDER TO MERGE INTO ANOTHER LANE OR ONTO CURB. *JB
STARTER DOES NOT ALWAYS FUNCTION PROPERLY. SOMETIMES THE CAR STARTS OTHER TIMES IT DOES NOT. IT DRAGS ON KIND OF LIKE A HARD START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP IN FEBRUARY. WAITED CLEAR UNTIL 09/08/2006 AND GM HAD A PROGRAM DEVELOPED TO GET IT FIXED. GUESS WHAT IT DID IT AGAIN TODAY ON 09/13/2006. NOW MY CAR GOES BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET LOOKED AT AGAIN. THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS. *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE WHEEL JERKED VIOLENTLY. THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR SPORADICALLY AND IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD ALSO SEIZE WITHOUT WARNING. ALSO, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A SENSOR FAILURE AND THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 132,557.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING LOCKED AND THERE WAS A LOSS OF ALL POWER STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING MOTOR MODULE ASSEMBLY AND CIRCUITS. AFTERWARDS, THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED AND THE DEALER DETERMINED THE POWER STEERING MODULE NEEDED REPLACED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLES POWER STEERING COLUMN LOCKS UP WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH OR LESS. THE WARNING SIGN PRIOR TO FAILURE IS THE STEERING WOULD PULL TO THE LEFT UNDER NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO THE DEALERS BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERS REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN. THE VEHICLE PRESENTED FURTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING COLUMN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TOT HE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE SHAFT AND MOTOR ASSEMBLY. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND FILE A COMPLAINT WITH A REPRESENTATIVE. UPDATED 8/21/2006 - THE HARMONIC BALANCER WAS NOT SEATED PROPERLY. *NM
THE BRAKES ON MY 2005 PONTIAC G6 PULSE WHEN APPLIED, ESPECIALLY GOING DOWN HILL. THE CAR WAS TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE JULY 2006 WITH ONLY 7,900 MILES ON IT. BOTH THE REAR AND FRONT ROTORS WERE MACHINED AND PULSING STOPPED. THE PULSING BEGAN AGAIN AROUND MAY OF 2007. THE CAR WAS THEN INSPECTED IN AUGUST 2007 AND THE REAR BRAKES FAILED TO PASS INSPECTION AT 11,400 MILES. THE REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS BOTH NEEDED REPLACED. SHORTLY AFTER THOSE WERE REPLACED THE BRAKES BEGAN PULSING AGAIN AND THE FRONT ROTORS HAD TO BE MACHINED AGAIN IN DECEMBER 2007 WITH ONLY 12,000 MILES ON THE CAR. THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE ROTORS RUSTING AND I HAVE HAD TO PUT $600 INTO BRAKES FOR THIS CAR WITH LESS THAN 13,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
BRAKES GRIND AND CAR SHAKES AND VIBRATES WHEN APPLYING BRAKES WHEN TRYING TO SLOW DOWN. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I LEASED THE CAR AND I HAVE BROUGHT IT BACK FOR SERVICE ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. THE LAST TIME I BROUGHT IT THE SAID THAT THEY "GROUND DOWN THE DRUMS". NOT SURE WHY A CAR WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THIS DONE WITH LESS THAN 15,000 MILES BUT THE CAR STILL PERFORMS THE SAME AND IT ALMOST FEELS LIKE THE BRAKES ARE GOING TO FAIL. THEY STILL SAY NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THEM. *TR

WELL IT ALL STARTED FOR MY STUPID PURCHASE OF A ?!@#$% CAR, I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR COSTING ME TONS OF MONEY. 6 TIMES I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY ROTORS AND MY BRAKE PADS BECAUSE OF A JOLTING SHAKING FEELING WITH THIS CAR AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE ROTORS ARE WARPED AND THAT THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THEY NEVER CHANGED THE ROTORS ALL THEY DID WAS MILL THEM DOWN, 3 TIMES THEY MILLED THEM DOWN AND THE PROBLEM KEPT COMING BACK UNTIL MY WARRANTY RAN OUT THEY SAID YOUR ON YOUR OWN. SOMETIMES I TRY TO START MY CAR AND IT WILL SHAKE AND PUT AND DIE OUT AND THEN IT I WILL TRY IT AGAIN AND IT WILL START, BUT I HAVE HAD MY CAR NOT START BACK UP 2 TIMES AND HAD TO GET IT TOWED AND FIXED AND ALL THEY SAID WAS IT WAS A DEAD BATTERY BUT THIS HAPPENED 2 TIMES WITH IN A YEAR AND IT STILL HAPPENS NOW. I STARTED MY CAR AND STARTED TO DRIVE AND MY STEERING WHEEL WOULD VIOLENTLY JOLT IT SELF TO THE LEFT AND THE RIGHT AND IT ACTUALLY HURT MY WRIST FROM THIS AND THEN THE CAR DIED OUT AND HAD TO PAY FOR TOWING AND PROBLEM WAS A DEAD BATTERY IS WHAT THEY SAID. PASSENGER DOOR SOME HOW FILLED UP WITH WATER AND CAUSED ALL MY ELECTRICAL TO GO HAYWIRE IN MY CAR AND SHOWING DOOR AJAR OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND IT WOULD GO OFF CAUSING MY INTERIOR LIGHTS TO NOT GO OFF, MY FLOOD LIGHTS WOULDN'T WORK, CD PLAYER AND RADIO ONLY WORK WHEN THEY WANT TO WORK NOW, AND SOME OF THE LIGHTS IN THE CAR GO ON AND OFF WHEN THEY WANT. POWER ARM IN MY CAR HAS BEEN REPLACED 2 TIMES ALREADY COSTING ME A FORTUNE AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN, WONDER IF THAT HAS TO DO WITH THE SHOTTY ROTORS AND BRAKE PROBLEMS. AFTER REVEALING THIS TO GM ALL I HAVE HEARD BACK FROM THEM WAS TO TAKE IT IN A GET A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR AND THEN THEY MIGHT DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT KEEP THE VEHICLE STRAIGHT. IF SHE LET GO OFF THE STEERING WHEEL, IT WOULD PULL FAR TO THE LEFT. BEGINNING IN JANUARY 2010, THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY MALFUNCTIONED. SHE TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IT; THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO CORRECT ITSELF. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO ADVISED HER TO VISIT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSTICS TEST. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE CONTINUED ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. SHE TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AUGUST 2010 WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM THE MANUFACTURER STATING THAT THE STEERING WAS A PROBLEM (NOT A RECALL) AND IT WOULD BE REPAIRED OR OWNERS WOULD BE REIMBURSED. WHEN SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WOULD COVER ONLY 50% OF THE REPAIR COSTS AS HER VEHICLE WAS OVER 100,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 106,102. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 28,000.
MY POWER STEERING LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. I HAVE TAKEN TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES (6-7), THEY HAVE RECALIBRATED CODES, REPLACED MODULE, REPLACED WIRING HARNESS, RESET CODES. ALL OF WHICH HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. PONTIAC'S SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR WELL OVER A MONTH IS TO GIVE ME A RENTAL VEHICLE AND SEND AN ENGINEER TO LOOK AT THE CAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED AND THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE PART WOULD POTENTIALLY NEED TO BE REPLACED EVERY TWELVE MONTHS DUE TO THE QUALITY. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2005 PONTIAC G-6...THE REAR DOOR LOCKS DO NOT HAVE CHILD SAFETY LOCKS. MY 2 YEAR OLD, WHO WAS IN HIS CAR SEAT WAS ABLE TO UNLOCK AND OPEN THE BACK DOOR WHILE RIDING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. HAD HE NOT BEEN IN HIS CAR SEAT HE WOULD HAVE FALLEN OUT OF THE CAR TRAVELING AT 50 MPH. *NM

MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT WHERE SHE REAR ENDED ANOTHER SMALL PICKUP TRUCK AT APPROXIMATELY 35-40 MPH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN HER 2005 PONTIAC G-6. MY INSURANCE COMPANY, AND THE LOCAL POLICE WERE SURPRISED THAT THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. WITHIN 3 MINUTES, STEERING WHEEL TIGHTENED CONSIDERABLY, MAKING TURNS DIFFICULT. PULLED INTO PARKING LOT. PARKED CAR. TURNED OFF IGNITION. WAITED HALF A MINUTE. TURNED IGNITION. STEERING WHEEL TIGHTENED ALMOST BEYOND USE, TOOK INCREDIBLE EFFORTS TO MAKE TURNS. POWER STEERING APPEARED ON DIC WITHIN 30 SECONDS OF IGNITION, FOLLOWED BY SERVICE ICON IN THE DASH DISPLAY. CAR PARKED AND SHUT OFF AGAIN. NOT RETURNED TO FOR ANOTHER 75 MINUTES. STEERING PROBLEM DID NOT REAPPEAR. I LEASED A BRAND NEW PONTIAC G6 IN SEPTEMBER 2005, ON JANUARY 29, 2005 THE ABS MODULE BURNT UP AND CAUGHT ON FIRE, BURNT THE ABS SYSTEM AND HALF OF THE CARS ELECTRICAL WIRING IN THE WIRING HARNESS. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO BE CALLED TO PUT THE FIRE OUT, THEY STATED IF I WAITED ANY LONGER THE CAR WOULD HAVE BEEN TOTALED. TAUPE IMPRESSION SEAT CLOTH ABSORBS AND TRANSFERS COLOR FROM MATERIAL UNDER SEAT WHEN CLOTH BECOMES WET. FOR INSTANCE WHEN SOMETHING IS SPILLED AND TRYING TO CLEAN IN ACCORDANCE WITH INSTRUCTIONS IN GM OWNERS MANUAL IT SAYS TO CLEAN WITH WATER USING DAMP CLOTH. THE DEALER ALSO SUPPLIES CLEANER AND SAYS TO USE CLEANER WITH WATER AS CLEANUP FOR SPILLS. THE COLOR TRANSFERENCE WILL STAIN OTHER CLOTH AND SPOTS THE SEAT ABOVE. THE DEALER HAD TO USE PROFESSIONAL CLEANER AND STILL WAS UNABLE TO FULLY REMOVE ALL STAINS FROM THE COLOR TRANSFER. NOT SURE IF THESE ARE HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL TRANSFERS OR NOT. DEALER ALSO HAD TO REPLAY SCOTCH GUARD TYPE CHEMICAL AFTER ATTEMPTS TO CLEAN SEATS, BUT SPOTS STILL REAPPEARED. DEALER WAS TO INVESTIGATE WITH OTHER DEALERS, BUT NEVER HEARD BACK. I WAS MAKING A SHARP LEFT TURN IN A PARKING LOT. THE CAR STALLED AND THE STEERING LOCKED UP FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS. I SAW THAT THE RPMS HAD DROPPED TO ZERO. EVERYTHING CAME BACK ON AND I CONTINUED.
