COMING UP TO A RED LIGHT PREPARING TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN, AS I SLOWED TO COMPLETE BREAK THE SERVICE VEHICLE LIGHT CAME ON AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN BUT I LOST POWER STEERING MAKING ME UNABLE TO MAKE THE RIGHT TURN THAT THE 4 OR 5 CARS BEHIND ME THOUGHT I WOULD BE MAKING THUS ALMOST CAUSING A REAR END COLLISION WHICH SENT ME IN A FULL PANIC ATTACK HAVING TO TAKE MEDICATION TO BRING ME OUT OF IT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME MY ALARM SYSTEM LIGHT BLINKED ON THEN STAYED ON. THE HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF AND TURNED ON. AFTER I PARKED THE CAR AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE THE THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM ACTIVATED AND MY CAR WOULD NOT START FOR 45 MINS. I FOLLOWED ALL RESET PROCEDURES NOTHING WORKED. HAD TO DISCONNECT AND RECONNECT ALARM. NOW ALARM WILL NOT WORK AND THE TRUNK/DOORS OPEN OR UNLOCK RANDOMLY, RADIO TURNS OFF, LIGHTS TURN OFF. PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW NOONE IN TOWN KNOWS HOW TO FIX. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED FUEL FUMES WERE EMITTED IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A LEAK AT THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. NEITHER THE MANUFACTURER NOR THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW MY 2005 G6 HESITATES AND JERKS SIGNIFICANTLY WHEN I PUSH DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL FROM A STOPPED POSITION. FROM 0-10 MPH THE CAR TAKES A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF TIME TO GAIN ENOUGH POWER TO MOVE FORWARD FOR THE LEVEL OF DEPRESSION APPLIED TO THE GAS PEDAL. I'VE TAKEN THE CAR TO SEVERAL MECHANICS, INCLUDING A GM DEALER. NOT A SINGLE MECHANIC INCLUDING GM CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT THE ISSUE IS. I CALLED GM TO PLACE A COMPLAINT, AND I STUPIDLY THOUGHT WITH ALL THE GM ISSUES AND LAW SUITS GOING ON NOW POSSIBLY THEIR ASSISTANCE AS 1) THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. 2) MY CAR ONLY HAS A LITTLE OVER 63K IN MILEAGE. I EXPLAINED TO GM THAT I CANNOT AT THIS TIME SAFELY ACCELERATE ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY, GO THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, OR ACCELERATE QUICKLY SHOULD I GOD FORBID HAVE TO. I REQUESTED THEM TO INVESTIGATE FURTHER AS THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND ISSUE. THEY TOLD ME TO SPEND MORE MONEY AND TAKE IT TO ANOTHER GM DEALER TO TRY AND DIAGNOSE. TOLD THEM THAT'S STUPID,4 MECHANICS INCLUDING A DEALER COULD NOT LOCATE ISSUE. LIKE MY STEERING ISSUE (BEFORE THE RECENT RECALL) GM BASICALLY TOLD ME TO DROP DEAD. THE GM REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME IF NO MECHANIC CAN FIND IT, MAYBE ITS TIME FOR A NEW CAR. *TR

BRAKE LIGHTS ALWAYS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING, AND TURN OFF WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS ALSO CAUSES ISSUES WITH ENGAGING CRUISE CONTROL. CRUISE CONTROL NEVER WORKS SINCE THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ALWAYS ON. SHIFTING OUT OF PARK IS DIFFICULT. *TR

IN THE LAST THREE MONTHS I'VE HAD TO GET MY BRAKES REPLACED TWICE AND HAVE HAD TO TAKE MY CAR INTO THE SHOP BECAUSE MY CARS POWER STEERING HAS STOPPED WORKING. AFTER ALL OF THAT, I'VE GOTTEN THREE LETTERS IN THE MAIL IN THE LAST MONTH FOR RECALLS ON MY CAR. IF THERE'S THAT MANY PARTS BEING RECALLED ON MY VEHICLE, WHY ISN'T GM JUST RECALLING THE WHOLE VEHICLE SINCE THE G6 HAS NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE DAY ONE. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED A SECOND NOTIFICATION IN OCT OF 2014, INFORMING THAT THE PART WAS AVAILABLE BUT THE DEALER INFORMED THAT THE PART CONTINUED TO BE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT EXPERIENCE A FAILURE.

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BALL JOINT, BUT THE FAILURE INTERMITTENTLY PROGRESSED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. MY VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING A NOISE AND THE STEERING WAS SLUGGISH/LABORED. THE MECHANIC I USE TEST DROVE AND STATED IT WAS PROBABLY THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST MOTOR. HE THEN WENT ON THE SAY THERE WAS A GM RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM AND MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED. HOW DO I KNOW IF AND WHEN I SHOULD BE NOTIFIED ABOUT THE RECALL? THANK YOU *TR
I WAS DRIVING IN A AREA AT 35 ZONE THEN IT GOES TO 55. I ACCELERATED AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS WENT TO LIKE I JUST STARTED THE CAR AND IT FELT LIKE I COULD NOT STEER THE VEHICLE.

GOT TO A STOP SIGN ND HEARD THE CHIME WITH POWER STEERING MESSAGE IN MESSAGE DISPLAY AREA, WENT TO TURN THE WHEEL ND HAD LITTLE TO NO CONTROL OF STEERING. WENT TO O'REILLY ND BOUGHT SOME STEERING FLUID ND ASKED FOR ASSISTANCE WITH PUTTING IT IN. WAS TOLD I HAD TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED TO FILL IT. STARTED THE CAR ND THE POWER STEERING WAS BACK. DROVE TO WALMART (3 MILES) WITH NO PROBLEM ND HAD CAR SERVICED. THEY TOLD ME THE POWER STEERING WAS ELECTRIC ND COULDN'T BE FILLED. MY DAD DROVE THE CAR ND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM BUT ONCE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF IT CAME BACK. I DON'T KNOW THE EXACT DATE OF THAT INCIDENT THOUGH. *TR

RECALL14E044000 WE RECENTLY TOOK MY DAUGHTERS G6 IN TO A GM DEALER FOR THIS STEERING ISSUE. WE HAVE PLAY IN THE STEERING AND THE NOISE IT MAKES IS VERY SCARY. DRIVING IS SLOPPY AND AT TIMES DEPENDING ON ROADS CAN MAKE THE CAR GO ALL OVER THE ROAD. THEY HAVE TOLD US THAT THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT UNDER THIS RECALL. I WAS COMING TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN AND HEARD 3 DINGS AND THEN LOST MY POWER STEERING. A MESSAGE ALSO POPPED UP ON MY RADIO SCREEN STATING POWER STEERING. I WAS FRIGHTENED AND SHOCKED AND I PULLED THE BRAKE PEDAL (THANK GOD I DID NOT HAVE ANY DRIVER BEHIND MY VEHICLE ) YIELD TO VEHICLE FROM THE OPPOSITE SIDE INCOMING TRAFFIC , PULLED HARD TO ENTER THAT PARKING LOT AND AFTER I LEFT THE BUSY BOULEVARD(THANK GOD WAS NOT A TRAFFIC TIME AS BETWEEN 3:00 P.M. 1- THE CAR WAS COMING TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT WHEN IT JUST COMPLETELY TURNED OFF. LIGHTS, POWER LOCKS, WINDOWS, RADIO, THE CAR, EVERYTHING. WOULD NOT START AFTER THAT. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES OF SITTING AT THE RED LIGHT WITH A COMPLETELY DEAD CAR (WITH MY KEYS IN MY LAP) THE CAR STARTED ON ITS OWN. 2- WENT TO GET INTO MY CAR AFTER COMING OUT OF THE STORE - THE CAR WAS TRYING TO REBOOT ITSELF. ALL THE ACCESSORIES WOULD TURN ON, BUT THE CAR REMAINED DEAD AND WOULD NOT START. LET SIT FOR ABOUT 5-8 MINUTES (AFTER IT TRIED TO START ITSELF ABOUT 5 TIMES) - I COULD START THE CAR 3- CAME OUT OF THE STORE AND IT WAS ONCE AGAIN, COMPLETELY DEAD WHERE NOTHING WORK (COULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DOORS EVEN). ABOUT 10 MINUTES AFTER OF LETTING IT SIT, THE LOCKS STARTED CLICKING (AS IN UNLOCKING, LOCKING, UNLOCKING, LOCKING). THEN IT STARTED ON ITS OWN, WITH MY KEYS IN MY LAP. *TT

I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE, AND THE POWER STEERING JUST QUIT. I HAD TO PULL IT OFF INTO A PARKING LOT AND WAIT FOR MY FATHER TO COME LOOK IT OVER. HE FOUND NOTHING WRONG AND STARTED THE CAR, AND IT WORKED LIKE NORMAL. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS. *JS

MY CURRENT SPEED BEFORE LOSS OF POWER WAS 45 MPG AND IMMEDIATELY DROPPED TO 0 MILES AS THE DASHBOARD READ POWER STEERING ENGINE DISABLED. LUCKILY MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS STILL WORKED AND I AVOIDED A CRASH BUT I DO HOPE THAT GM RESOLVES THIS ISSUE AND MAKES A RECALL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO PREVENT CASUALTIES AND FATALITIES. *TR

SERVICE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES INTERMITTENTLY. GM DEALERSHIP SAID IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM AND THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR IT, BUT NO RECALL. ALSO STATED IF IT ISN'T FIXED THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE INSIDE AND AROUND THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RETURN PORT WAS CRACKED AND THERE WAS A FUEL LEAK. AS A RESULT, THE FUEL PUMP MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
AT RANDOM TIMES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND I LOSE ALL POWER STEERING. THE CAR MUST BE RESTARTED TO RESTORE POWER STEERING. IT DID THIS WHILE TURNING AROUND I AM SCARED FOR MY WIFE TO DRIVE THIS CARS FOR FEAR IT WILL FAIL WHILE ON THE EXPRESS WAY. *TR
WHEN WE TURN THE IGNITION KEY THE ENGINE STARTS BUT THE KEY REMAINS IN START AND DOESN'T RETURN TO RUN.WE GET NO GAUGES, NO POWER WINDOWS,AND OBVIOUSLY NO AIR BAGS,AND NO RADIO. IF WE BARELY TOUCH KEY THE CAR SHUTS OFF. WE WERE FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO PARK AND FIGURE OUT THAT YOU HAD TO PHYSICALLY AND CAREFULLY TURN THE KEY TO RUN. THE CAR DIED 9 OUT OF 10 TIMES. WE HAD JUST BOUGHT THE CAR AND THE DEALER HAD EARLIER SHAVED THE CARS KEY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER THEN HAD THE LOCK CHANGED BY A CERTIFIED LOCKSMITH. WE CONTACTED GM TO VERIFY THAT THE NEW IGNITION THAT THE LOCKSMITH PUT IN WASN'T DEFECTIVE,(NOT THAT WE QUESTION THE LOCKSMITH)AND WAS TOLD THE CAR WASN'T ON THE RECALL. WHEN WE ASKED WHETHER THEY COULD TELL IF THE LOCK WAS OK,OR IF THE PROBLEM WAS DEEPER IN THE IGNITION THEY SAID WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY $110 JUST TO FIND OUT,AND IF IT WAS DEFECTIVE,$300 MORE. NOW WE'VE CONTACTED GM AND GOT A FILE NUMBER,AND GUESS WHAT? THEY'RE BLOWING US OFF. WE NEVER EVEN KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM UNTIL THE RECALL NEWS 2/14.THE RECALL NEEDS EXPANDING. AND WE NEED TO KNOW IF THE LOCKS A LOCKSMITH MIGHT BUY TO REPLACE, IS ALSO BAD. GM REFUSES TO GIVE THAT INFO. AND THEY SAY THEY HAVEN'T GOT THE PARTS TO REPAIR THEIR PROBLEM ANYWAY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND ALL OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN AND TORQUE SENSOR. THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
"POWER STEERING" FLASHED ON THE RADIO WITH A CHIME THEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. MY WIFE ALMOST HIT THE NEIGHBORS DAUGHTER ON A BICYCLE JUST COMING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY TO TURN ONTO THE STREET. DUE TO MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE (159,000), GM STATES THAT IT DOES NOT FALL WITHIN THE PARAMETERS OF THE WARRANTY THEREFORE NOT COVERING THE COST OF REPAIR. LAST FALL THE CAR TAIL LIGHTS FAILED TO WORK, THIS PAST WINTER THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP WHILE I WAS DRIVING. NOW WHEN I DRIVE THE CAR THE TAIL LIGHTS DON'T WORK, TURNING SIGNALS WILL WORK INTERMITTENTLY AND MOST RECENTLY THE STEERING IS GOING OUT ALMOST ON A REGULAR BASIS. MY GRANDDAUGHTERS CAR WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WHERE IT WOULD NOT START AT TIMES, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN PARK. I DROVE THE CAR HOME AND PARKED IT IN MY DRIVEWAY TO TRY TO TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM AND WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT IT OFF, THE CAR STARTED ROLLING DOWN HILL IN MY DRIVEWAY. I STOPPED THE CAR FROM ROLLING AND WHEN I TRIED TO START IT, I FOUND THAT IT WOULD NOT START. I THEN SHIFTED THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND IT WAS ABLE TO START. I WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THIS PROBLEM BY PUTTING THE CAR BACK IN PARK. SOMETIMES IT WOULD GO INTO PARK AND THEN START AND OTHER TIMES IT ONLY APPEARED TO BE GOING INTO PARK AND THEN WOULD NOT START AND ALSO WOULD ROLL BACKWARDS ON AN INCLINE. I TOOK THE CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE WAS DEFECTIVE AND THAT THE GOOD NEWS WAS THE THERE WAS A GM RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR THIS MODEL VEHICLE. I CALLED GM TO INQUIRE ABOUT THIS AND THEY SAID THAT ALTHOUGH THIS MODEL AND YEAR CAR HAD A SAFETY RECALL FOR THIS DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE, THE VIN NUMBER FOR MY GRANDDAUGHTERS CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED. IT IS OBVIOUS TO ME THAT THIS CAR HAS THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART AS THE RECALL ALONG WITH ALL THE SAME SYMPTOMS, INCLUDING A STARTING ISSUE IN PARK AND THE ABILITY TO ROLL DOWN HILL AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT GETTING HELP WITH THIS REPAIR? *TR

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED NECK AND SHOULDER INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL), 14V153000 (STEERING), AND 14V224000 (POWER TRAIN). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
FRIDAY SHORTLY AFTER RETURNING HOME FROM WORK AND PARKING MY CAR IN THE GARAGE, I WALKED OUTSIDE TO RETRIEVE SOMETHING FROM THE GARAGE AND UPON OPENING THE GARAGE DOOR, I NEARLY FELL OVER FROM THE GASOLINE FUMES THAT I ENCOUNTERED. MY ENTIRE GARAGE WAS FILLED WITH THE VAPORS OF GASOLINE. I WAS VERY CONCERNED BUT DID NOT SEE ANY LEAKS AROUND MY CAR. I DID NOT DARE ATTEMPT TO START THE VEHICLE FOR FEAR OF FIRE. I DID NOT DRIVE MY CAR ALL WEEKEND. MONDAY MORNING I TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC AND HE DISCOVERED THE FUEL ASSEMBLY UNIT HAD A LEAK NEAR THE FUEL ARM MECHANISM LEADING TO THE ENGINE. THIS REQUIRED REPLACING THE ENTIRE FUEL ASSEMBLY UNIT. THE PLASTIC PIECE SHOULD SHOW NO SIGNS OF WEAR AND TEAR SINCE IT IS ENCASED WITHIN THE FUEL ASSEMBLY UNIT. THIS IS CLEARLY A FLAWED DESIGN AND IT SHOULD BE RECALLED. IT IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO HAVE A FUEL LEAK AND HAD I BEEN PARKED AT MY OFFICE IN THE UNDERGROUND PARKING STRUCTURE, A LIGHTED MATCH OR CIGARETTE WOULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. THIS DEFECTIVE FUEL ASSEMBLY MUST BE RECALLED AS IT POSES A GREAT SAFETY RISK TO PERSONS AND PROPERTY. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON NOR DID ANY OTHER WARNING MESSAGE ALERT ME TO THE POTENTIAL DANGER THIS DEFECT CAUSED. *TR

01/05/2014 AS I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD, AND APPLIED MY BRAKES. SEVERAL MINUTES LATER, A TRUCK PULLED UP NEXT TO ME AND TOLD ME THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WEREN'T WORKING - HOWEVER THEY HAD BEEN JUST A MOMENT BEFORE. *TR 01/10/2014 THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON THIS DATE. THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE WORKING (HOWEVER I WAS NOT BREAKING), AND THERE WAS A DRIVER THAT PULLED UP NEXT TO ME AND INFORMED ME THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE MALFUNCTIONING. I HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH MY CRUISE CONTROL. IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL, HOWEVER THE FUSE IS NOT DAMAGED.
