POWER STEERING LIGHT WENT ON. I CALLED DEALERSHIP IN STRONGSVILLE WERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY VEHICLE HAS NO RECALL. I READ UP ON THE RECALL AND MY CAR IS DOING WHAT THE RECALLS SAYS IT DOES. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) *TT
THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON IN THE RADIO. AFTER I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT, THE STEERING WORKING AGAIN BUT IT SOON FAILED AND WENT THROUGH THE PROCESS OF RESTARTING CAR TO GET IT TO WORK. IT SEEMS TO DO IT MORE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT. IT NOW DOES IT FREQUENTLY AND THE CAR STEERS SO HARD WHEN IT HAPPENS, IT WOULD BE EASY TO LOOSE CONTROL AND CRASH. PONTIAC SAYS THIS IS NOT A SAFETY RECALL AND THEY WILL NOT HONOR WARRANTY ON MY CAR. NHTSA DID INVESTIGATE THIS UNDER ACTION NUMBER PE07023 BUT PONTIAC STILL STATES IT IS NOT A SAFETY PROBLEM. I DISAGREE AND FEEL PONTIAC SHOULD CORRECT THIS PRIOR TO AN ACCIDENT HAPPENING. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EXTERIOR BRAKE LIGHT EXPERIENCED FAILURES IN WHICH THE ILLUMINATION WAS EITHER FAR BRIGHTER THAN NORMAL OR MUCH DULLER. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO UTILIZE THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V036000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING: BRAKE LIGHTS) BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON I-94 NEAR ANN ARBOR, MI DURING A RAIN STORM. I HAD THE WIPERS GOING AND I HEARD A QUIET 'POP' SOUND AND SUDDENLY THE WIPERS NO LONGER WORKED AS I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE GOING 70MPH. I EASED OFF THE HIGHWAY ON THE LEFT-HAND SIDE AND IMMEDIATELY PUT MY FLASHERS ON TO AVOID CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. FORTUNATELY, A POLICE OFFICER ARRIVED ON THE SCENE AND ESCORTED ME AND MY WIFE TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. I FOUND ON A CAR FORUM ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON COMPLAINT THAT A SMALL PLASTIC INSERT WEARS OUT AND THE WIPER MOTOR DISCONNECTS FROM THE LINKAGE. I BOUGHT A REPLACEMENT WIPER LINKAGE WITH A LIFETIME WARRANTY FROM A LOCAL JUNK YARD. I AM IN THE AUTOMOTIVE BUSINESS (A TEST ENGINEER) AND THOUGHT THIS IS A BIG ENOUGH SAFETY CONCERN THAT IT SHOULD BE REPORTED. *TR
MOST OF THE TIME MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON WITHOUT PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. SOMETIMES THE LIGHTS ARE ON WHEN I START MY VEHICLE AND SOMETIMES THEY COME ON WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS TURN ON THEY GENERALLY DO NOT TURN OFF AND I DRIVE AROUND WITH BRAKE LIGHT ALWAYS ON. SOMETIMES I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON WHILE DRIVING AND I BEGIN TO ACTUALLY BRAKE, THE BRAKE LIGHTS TURN OFF. WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON WHILE DRIVING THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT ENGAGE. THERE HAVE BEEN INSTANCES WHERE I SET MY CRUISE CONTROL AND IT SUDDENLY DISENGAGES AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY PEOPLE FOLLOWING MY VEHICLE THAT THIS IS WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS TURN ON WITHOUT ME HITTING THE PEDAL. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON WHEN I START THE VEHICLE THAT IT IS EXTREMELY HARD TO SHIFT MY CAR OUT OF PARK. *TR
I OWN A 2006 PONTIAC G6 AND THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT COMPLETELY TWICE IN THE LAST YEAR AND HAS BEEN REPLACED BOTH TIMES. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS. I AM VERY LUCKY I DID NOT GET IN AN ACCIDENT THE LAST TIME IT WENT OUT. I WAS GOING DOWN A VERY STEP AND CURVY ROAD HER IN MINNESOTA AND IT JUST WENT OUT AND NEVER CAME BACK ON, EVEN AFTER I SHUT THE CAR DOWN AND STARTED IT BACK UP, THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. BRAKE ROTORS WARPED @ 26000 MILES. SO BAD ALMOST LOOSE CONTROL OF CAR. MANY CASES ON INTERNET. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. AFTER 30 MINUTES, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED NORMALLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
THE DRIVER INFORMATION SYSTEM BEGAN INDICATING THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG SYSTEM. I HAD ASKED THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER TO INVESTIGATE THIS PREVIOUSLY WHEN THE CAR WAS IN THE SHOP FOR OTHER MAINTENANCE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT APPEARED TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR'S COMPUTER AND THAT IF I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE MESSAGE CLEARED, IT WAS OKAY. THE TECH EXPLAINED THAT THE CAR'S COMPUTER RUNS A CHECK EVERY TIME THE CAR STARTS AND THAT SOMETHING WAS A LITTLE BUGGY BUT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. IN AUGUST 2011, THE MESSAGE BEGAN APPEARING CONSTANTLY SO I BROUGHT IT BACK IN. SUDDENLY THERE WAS A PROBLEM. THE FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SINCE THIS INVOLVED TAKING OUT THE SEAT TO DO THE REPAIR, IT WOULD BE COSTLY. I ASKED IF THE CAR COULD BE DRIVEN SAFELY WITH NO ONE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SINCE USUALLY I AM THE ONLY ONE IN THE CAR WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVEN. THE TECH EXPLAINED THAT IF THE CAR DETECTS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM (EVEN IF NO ONE IS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT) IT WILL SHUT OFF THE ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM, SO THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG WOULD ALSO BE TURNED OFF. I PAID APPROXIMATELY $1000 TO HAVE THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS LATER, WHEN THE POWER STEERING IN THE CAR BEGAN TO FAIL, I STARTED INVESTIGATING RECALLS AND FOUND THAT GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR FAILURE SINCE 2006 (WHICH IS THE MODEL YEAR OF MY CAR). I'M NOT SURE HOW I WAS SOLD A CAR WITH A KNOWN POSSIBLE DEFECT, HOW I WAS NOT NOTIFIED THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT, OR WHY I WAS THE ONE WHO PAID FOR THE REPAIR, BUT I'M QUITE UPSET ABOUT IT. ALTHOUGH I NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT, IT MAKES ME WONDER HOW LONG I HAD BEEN DRIVING AROUND WITH NO FRONT AIRBAG PROTECTION. *TR
WE PURCHASED A 2006 PONTIAC G6 FOR OUR SON. OVER THE PAST TWO MONTHS, WE HAVE NOTICED THE POWER STEERING FAILS AT DIFFERENT SITUATIONS. I HAVE A 2006 PONTIAC G6. SHORTLY AFTER MY WARRANTY WITH THE CAR DEALER EXPIRED, MY POWERING STEERING STARTED TO MALFUNCTION. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND SOMETIMES WOULDN'T WORK AT ALL. THIS WOULD HAPPEN PRETTY MUCH EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS USED. AS TIME WENT ON, IT GOT WORSE. AS OF 8/14/11, MY POWER STEERING HAS PRETTY MUCH GONE OUT. IT WILL WORK ONCE IN A WHILE, BUT WHEN IT DOES, THE VEHICLE PULLS SHARPLY TO THE LEFT ALL OF A SUDDEN. IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED MANY ACCIDENTS. WHEN IT GOES OUT, THE STEERING WHEEL IS EXTREMELY HARD TO MOVE. YOU MUST BE MOVING IN ORDER TO TURN IT, AND USE MUCH STRENGTH TO DO SO. THIS HAS ALSO ALMOST CAUSED MANY ACCIDENTS, AS IT MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO PULL IN AND OUT OF PARKING SPACES. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ONLINE, AND HAVE FOUND THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS I DO. PERHAPS THEY DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOUR SITE, AND THAT IS WHY THERE AREN'T AS MANY COMPLAINTS ON IT. IF YOU WERE TO SIMPLY SEARCH "2006 G6 POWER STEERING" ON ANY SEARCH ENGINE, YOU WOULD FIND MANY MORE COMPLAINTS. THERE ARE CURRENTLY 119 COMPLAINTS ALONE AT CARCOMPLAINTS.COM. THE PROBLEM IS THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MOTOR. THE COST TO FIX THIS IS BETWEEN $600-$1500. I SIMPLY CAN NOT AFFORD THAT. PONTIAC NEEDS TO MAKE A RECALL ON THIS SO I, AMONG MANY OTHERS, CAN GET THIS FIXED AND FEEL SAFE WHILE DRIVING. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO ADVISED HIM THAT THE VCM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 69,500.
HELLO, MY NAME IS [XXX] AND I RECENTLY PURCHASED A VEHICLE THAT SHOULD'VE NEVER PASSED A GOVERNMENT INSPECTION. I FINANCED THE VEHICLE IN A USED DEALERSHIP CALLED WALT'S IN THE CITY OF SAN ANGELO TEXAS ABOUT A YEAR AGO. THE VEHICLE I PURCHASED IS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THIS VEHICLE RUNS GOOD AND THE ONLY PROBLEM I I'VE HAD IS A BRAKE PROBLEM, MECHANICALLY, BUT WHAT I'M MORE CONCERNED ABOUT IS THE REAR DOORS, THEY WERE NOT EQUIPPED WITH CHILD LOCKS. I AM A FATHER OF A FOUR AND A FIVE YEAR OLD, ONE OF THEM OPENED THE DOOR BEFORE I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP EVEN WHEN THE DOOR WAS LOCKED. I TOOK THE CAR TO WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND THEY SAID THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. HE JUST TOLD ME TO MAKE SURE MY KIDS ARE BUCKLED AND NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. HE TOLD ME THAT ITS THE GOVERNMENT FAULT FOR PASSING IT IN THE INSPECTION. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM. THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE COME ON RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. THIS CAUSES THE LIGHTS TO BE INOPERABLE WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. I HAVE BEEN IN SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS FOR REAR END ACCIDENTS. STOPPED BY THE POLICE ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. ALSO THIS IS THE EXACT PROBLEM THAT GM HAS IN THE 2005-06 PONTIAC G6 BRAKE LIGHT RECALL NOTICE. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED UNDER RECALL 2 TIMES NOW. THE FIX LASTS APPROXIMATELY 3 TO 4 MONTHS, THEN THE EXACT SAME, EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, BRAKE LIGHT AND CRUISE CONTROL ISSUE RETURNS. WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS THE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGES AT RANDOM ALSO. THIS HAS CAUSED MANY NERVE RACKING SITUATIONS WHEN CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGES IN TRAFFIC WHILE TRAVELING UP A HILL. GM'S FIX OF APPLYING DIELECTRIC GREASE TO THE CONNECTOR IS A BAND AID TYPE FIX AND IS NOT A REMEDY FOR THIS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS RECALL ISSUE. THE NEWER MODEL G6 VEHICLES DO NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE, MAKING IT OBVIOUS THAT GM SAW A NEED TO FIX THE PROBLEM IN HOUSE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR 4 YEARS AT MINIMUM. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 89K MILES AND I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER SINCE NEW. I KEEP THE CAR IN IMMACULATE MECHANICAL CONDITION. THIS DEFECT NEEDS TO BE FIXED IN THE CORRECT MANNER BEFORE SOMEBODY LOSES A LIFE. *TT
2006 PONTIAC G6 EXPERIENCING ALL ISSUES DOCUMENTED IN RECALL HOWEVER THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE WAS IN RECALLED. CRUISE CONTROL WILL INTERMITTENTLY FAIL WHEN DRIVING, EXCESSIVE FORCE IS REQUIRED TO SHIFT VEHICLE FROM PARK INTO REVERSE/DRIVE IN SOME INSTANCES. BRAKE LIGHTS WILL ILLUMINATE WHEN BRAKES ARE NOT DEPRESSED AND WILL NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN BRAKES ARE DEPRESSED. ALL ISSUES ARE INTERMITTENT, ANY ONE OF THEM OCCURRING AT LEAST 1X WEEK. CONTACTED BOTH GM AND DEALERSHIP IN AUGUST AND AGAIN IN DECEMBER AND WHILE ISSUES ARE DOCUMENTED, NO REPAIR HAS BEEN MADE BECAUSE VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER THE EXISTING RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS SAFELY MANEUVERED TO THE SHOULDER AND SHUT OFF. UPON RESTART, THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL MOMENTARILY BEFORE THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME AND PARKED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN SINCE THE INITIAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,861. UPDATED 10/04/11 *BF UPDATED 10/05/11
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED HOWEVER THE BRAKE LIGHTS DID NOT ILLUMINATE. ALSO, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD SPORADICALLY ILLUMINATE WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BPP SWITCH NEEDED TO BE RE-CALIBRATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V036000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THE BRAKE LAMPS ARE NOT OPERATING PROPERLY. THE BRAKE LAMPS ARE ILLUMINATED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS NOT BEEN DEPRESSED, OR THE LAMPS MAY NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. MY BRAKE LAMPS ACTUALLY TURN OFF WHEN I PRESS THEM AND ARE ON OTHERWISE. IN ADDITION, THE CRUISE CONTROL MAY NOT ENGAGE, AND GREATER BRAKE PEDAL FORCE MAY BE REQUIRED TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK. THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL SOMETIMES DISENGAGE SOMETIMES ON ITS OWN AS WELL. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN, WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WITHOUT WARNING. THE LOCKING CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A UTILITY POLE. WHEN THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, THEY WERE COMPLETELY DEFLATED WITH A POWDERED SUBSTANCE. THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OCCUPANT SUFFERED FROM ABRASIONS ACROSS THE NECK AS A RESULT OF THE SEAT BELT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED SEVERE DAMAGES AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT ABOUT A WEEK AGO, SO I RESTARTED MY CAR AND IT WORKED AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED A COUPLE TIMES A DAY. YESTERDAY I WAS DRIVING AND MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT ALMOST CAUSING ME TO RUN HEAD ON TO AN ONCOMING CAR. IT HASN'T WORKED SINCE AND I HAVE TO DRIVE WITHOUT POWER STEERING. *KB
INTERMITTENT BRAKE LIGHTS. UNPREDICTABLE. ALMOST REAR-ENDED. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT BUT NOT SUBJECT TO RECALL DUE TO MY VIN . I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS CAR. VERY DANGEROUS. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED BY GM AS TO THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM. FURTHER, GM SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL FOR ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM, NOT JUST A SELECT FEW. DRIVING THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOOD WHEN THE POWERSTEERING ON THE CAR WENT COMPLETELY OUT. I WAS UNABLE TO SLOW THE CAR DOWN TO BRING IT TO A SAFE PARK ON THE SIDE OF ROAD. INSTEAD I HIT AN EMBANKMENT. THE WITNESS AND POLICE WERE NOT SURE WHY MY CAR DID NOT FLIP OVER IN OTHER WORDS I LOST STEERING AND BRAKE POWER AND THE CAR WAS DEEMED AS TOTALED.

THE CONTACT ALSO HAD TO APPLY IMMENSE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GET THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THREE DIFFERENT DEALERS AND EACH ONE INFORMED HER THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED A BODY CONTROL MODULE. STARTED A DAY OR TWO AFTERWARDS. DEALER SAID IT NEEDED GREASE PUT INTO THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT,(WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT IT) EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS GREASE COMING OUT IF IT. DEALER WOULD NOT COVER COST OF REPAIR. CALLED PONTIAC /GMC TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL AND IF THEY COULD OFFER SOME HELP ON THIS AND WAS EVENTUALLY TOLD NO. TOOK TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO HAVE CHECK AND WAS TOLD THE WHOLE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AGAIN CALL PONTIAC/GMC AND RECEIVED AN ANSWER OF NO HELP COULD BE GIVEN ON THIS PROBLEM. QUOTE TO REPLACE SHAFT IS $319.00. I WAS TOLD BY BOTH DEALERS THERE WERE NO SAFETY ISSUES WITH THIS PROBLEM, THAT THIS WOULD NOT GO OUT ON ME WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE A WRECK. I HAVE HAD ALL THE RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE COMPLETED AT THE RECOMMENDED MILEAGE INTERVALS, INCLUDING THE TRANSMISSION FLUSHED AND FILLED AT A GM DEALER. RANDOMLY, WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT ANY NOTICE THE LIGHT TO NOTIFY ME THAT TRACTION CONTROL ISN'T ON COMES ON AND MY TRANSMISSION WILL JERK VIOLENTLY WHEN SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS. THEN SOMETIMES THE LIGHT WILL RANDOMLY GO OFF AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL CONTINUE TO FUNCTION AS NORMAL. RESTARTING THE VEHICLE DOES NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE, HOWEVER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF THEN UNHOOKING THE BATTERY OR PULLING THE FUSE UNDER THE HOOD FOR THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE THEN REPLACING IT AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE WILL TEMPORARILY FIX THE ISSUE. I HAVE HAD MY TRANSMISSION LOOKED AT BY A GM DEALER AND THEY SAY THAT IT IS A FAULTY TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. GM HAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS ISSUE BUT GM WANTS OVER $1000 TO REPLACE FAULTY EQUIPMENT (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) THAT THEY MADE BECAUSE MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY THIS HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO WRECK SEVERAL TIMES, AND I AM AFRAID THAT EVENTUALLY IT WILL. *TR

THE PROBLEM FIRST APPEARED IN MAY OF 2011. I USUALLY LEAVE MY CAR OUTSIDE. I HAD FAMILY VISITING FROM OUT OF TOWN AND MY FAMILY WAS GIVIN ONE OF OUR VEHICLES TO DRIVE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND IRONICALLY, THE MAN AHEAD OF ME ( WITH A PONTIAC G6 ) WAS BRINGING HIS CAR IN FOR AND INTENSE FUEL SMELL COMING FROM HIS CAR. I LEFT THE CAR WITH THE DEALER AND CHECKED ONLINE FOR ANY SERVICE BULLETINS ON THE VEHICLE. I DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS. IN FACT, A SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED IN THE PONTIAC G6 FOR CRACKED FUEL PUMPS, AND THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY THE DEALER. I HIT A POTHOLE AND THE BRACKET HOLDING THE CONTROL WIRES FOR THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BROKE AND MY SHOCKS RIPPED THE WIRES. I HIT A CURB BACK IN 2007 WHICH LED TO THE ALIGNMENT WORK THAT WAS DONE A FEW MONTHS AGO. THE PLASTIC USED FOR THE WINDSHIELD WASHER JETS HAS ALSO RECENTLY CORRODED AND FELL APART, SO THEY NO LONGER WORK EITHER. *TR
