Brake lights are illuminating when accelerating (when brake pedal is NOT depressed) and are NOT illuminating when actually braking (when brake pedal IS depressed). I found GM recalls for this, but they are not attributed to my car, hence the recall that took place for this was not wide enough / did not cover all vehicles affected. (Recall 80317) (A poor electrical connection at the brake light switch could result in various electrical issues, one of which would be the brake lights failing to work, increasing the risk of a crash. GM IS RECALLING 8,012 MY 2005-2006 PONTIAC G6 VEHICLES. THE BRAKE LAMPS MAY NOT OPERATE PROPERLY BECAUSE OF CORROSION IN A WIRING CONNECTOR. CORROSION IN THE CONNECTOR COULD CAUSE THE BRAKE LAMPS TO ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS NOT BEEN DEPRESSED, OR THE LAMPS MAY NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION, THE CRUISE CONTROL MAY NOT ENGAGE, AND GREATER BRAKE PEDAL FORCE MAY BE REQUIRED TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK.)
WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED ON I480. THE DRIVER THEN FLAGGED ME OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD .HE INFORMED ME MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. COME TO FIND OUT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE STAYING ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND GOING OUT WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKE. I AM NOT SURE WHEN THIS STARTED AGAIN. I SAY AGAIN BECAUSE TWICE I HAVE HAD DEALERSHIPS REPAIR THIS FIX UNDER THE RECALL. THE RECALL FIX IS FAULTY. GM IS AWARE OF THIS. AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED THEY ARE KNOWINGLY PUTTING MY LIFE IN DANGER. I HAVE PUT A LOT OF MONEY IN MY CAR. I REPAIR AND MAINTAIN IT PROPERLY. I HAVE RECEIPTS TO SUPPORT THIS FACT. GM SHOULD BE MADE TO BE RESPONSIBLE THAT MY LIFE IS NOT IN DANGER WHEN I AM PROPERLY OPERATING THEIR PRODUCT. *TR
HAVE REPLACED BULBS IN HEADLIGHTS AND THE CONNECTORS YET THE HEAD LIGHTS WILL STILL NOT TURN ON HAVE TO USE BRIGHTS AND THEY SOMETIMES DONT WORK. THE FUEL SENSOR ON THE GAS TANK KEEPS CAUSING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO TURN ON AND CAUSING ENGINE TO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE BRAKE LIGHT ON THE DASH BOARD KEEPS COMING ON WHEN ALL BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED ALONG WITH CALIPERS AND ROTORS.
MY 06 PONTIAC G6 HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY RECALLED FOR THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAYING ON WHILE DRIVING AND TURNING OFF WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE SAME PROBLEM HAS BEEN REOCCURRING EVEN AFTER THE DEALERSHIP "FIXED" THE PROBLEM. I'VE HAD TOO MANY CLOSE CALLS NEARLY BEING REAR ENDED WAITING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, SLOWING DOWN OR AT A COMPLETE STOP.

THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLI HEADLIGHT HAS BEEN CHANGED 3 TIMES AND THE CONNECTOR CHANGED AND IT IS CONSTANTLY GOING OUT. I WENT ONLINE TO SEE WHAT ELSE TO DO AND IT SEEMS LIKE MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING A PROBLEM TOO. I CHANGE IT AND WITHIN A MONTH TO 2 MONTHS IT WILL GO OUT AGAIN.
THE BRAKE LIGHTS STICK ON. WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKE PEDAL THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OFF. THERE IS A CONNECTOR DOWN ON PASSENGER SIDE BELOW RADIO THAT I FOUND OUT WAS SUPPOSEDLY RECALLED BUT NOTHING IS COMING UP AS A RECALL. I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2017 AND HAVE HAD ISSUES SINCE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER IN WISCONSIN WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.

I HAD THE RECALLS ALL FIXED AS SOON AS I WAS AWARE OF THEM. A FEW MONTHS LATER MY BRAKE LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AS I WAS DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND $300 LATER IT WAS FIXED. THEY SAID I HAD TO PAY SINCE THE RECALL HAD ALREADY BEEN TAKEN CARE OF. A FEW MONTHS LATER AND HERE I AM AGAIN WITH THE AIRBAG REPORTING PROBLEMS AS WORKING AND NOT WORKING. ALSO NOW MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE STAYING ON AS I AM DRIVING AND TURNING OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS WHEN I TAP THE BRAKE. AS I AM STOPPED THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE NOT TURNING ON UNLESS I FORCEFULLY HOLD THE PEDAL DOWN. I KNOW WHEN I TAKE IT INTO THE DEALER THAT IT IS GOING TO BE THE SAME THING, LOTS OF MONEY FOR A TEMPORARY FIX THAT ALL EXTEND FROM THE "FIXED" RECALL. I ALSO HAD A NEW BRAKE CONTROL SENSOR PUT IN, BUT IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE. THIS IS CAUSING A DANGEROUS CONDITION AND SINCE IT IS MY CAR, I DON'T KNOW WHAT I AM SUPPOSE TO DO HERE. THE RECALL REPAIR IS NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM, OTHER THAN TEMPORARILY, AND THIS IS PUTTING MY LIFE AND OTHERS AT RISK.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE LOW BEAM WIRING HARNESS BURNED OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,400.
I PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM A PREVIOUS OWNER ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND I HAVE REPLACE THE LOW BEAM BULBS 3 TIMES AND IT ONLY LAST A FEW DAYS. I CAN BANG ON THE HEADLIGHT AND IT WILL COME BACK ON FOR A DAY OR SO BUT THEN TURNS OFF AGAIN. IT IS USUALLY THE DRIVERS SIDE BUT SOMETIMES THE PASSENGER SIDE AS WELL. AFTER SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS I HAVE HEARD OTHERS COMPLAIN OF THE SAME ISSUE. I AM WORRIED THAT THERE IS A SEVERE ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THESE CARS THAT COULD CAUSE THEM TO GO UP IN FLAMES.
MY BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHILE I'M DRIVING AND STAY ON. THEN WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OFF. I HAVE HAD THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITIONING SENSOR REPLACED NUMEROUS TIMES AFTER BEING TOLD THAT IT WAS THE PROBLEM AND IT STILL KEEPS HAPPENING. I THEN RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS BRAKE ISSUE AND HAD THE BCM AND BPPS AND HARNESS REPLACED (RECALL 13036) AS WELL AS THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE (RECALL 14152). IT HAS NOW BEEN LESS THAN A YEAR AND I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME THAT IT IS THE BPPS AGAIN AND IS REFUSING TO COVER THE COST. I FEEL SCARED EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW IF MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE WORKING OR NOT EVEN AFTER I'M TOLD THAT THEY HAVE BEEN FIXED.

PULLED INTO GROCERY STORE GENTLEMAN CAME OVER TO ME AND SAID SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH EITHER MY TAILLIGHTS OR BRAKE LIGHTS, THEY DISAPPEAR WHEN STEPPING ON BRAKE. THEN ON JAN. 13TH, REC'D PHONE CALL FROM SHERIFF'S DEPT. SOMEONE TURNED IN MY PLATE NUMBER SO THEY COULD INFORM ME MY TAIL LIGHTS OR BAKE LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING. TOOK THE CAR IN AND IT COULDN'T BE WORKED ON THAT NEXT DAY. ANYWAY I DID HAVE SOME RECALLS, AND WHEN PARTS AVAILABLE TOOK TO THE DEALER AND ALL 3 RECALLS WERE SUPPOSEDLY FIXED. ONE RECALL I KNOW WAS REGARDING SOMETHING WITH REAR LIGHTING. HAD NO PROBLEMS AND NO COMPLAINTS BEFORE TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE. ALL I KNOW IS THE TWO GOOD CITIZENS WERE WORRIED ABOUT ME GETTING REAR ENDED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. AND I AM DRIVING AROUND IN AN UNSAFE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE DEALER CAN'T FIT ME IN UNTIL WED. THE JAN 21, AND IT MIGHT BE A PROBLEM THEY DIDN'T FIX AND GOT PAID FOR. I TRIED TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, AND IT APPEARED AFTER I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE, MY TAIL LIGHT FADED OUT FOR AWHILE AND GRADUALLY CAME BACK ON. SO IT APPEARS I HAVE NO TAIL LIGHTS. ONE RECALL WAS POWER STEERING AND THAT IS JUST FINE, BUT THE OTHER TWO I DON'T EXACTLY RECALL WHAT THEY WERE. MY MAIN CONCERN, IS I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT ALL 3 RECALLS WERE TAKEN CARE OF. *TR

I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. SOON AFTER I PURCHASED IT, MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING BEHIND ME WHEN HE DISCOVERED THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE BACKWARDS. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SERVICED FOR THE SAME FAILURE ON SEVEN SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE CONTINUING FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
