POWER STEERING FAILURE. BY LOSING POWER STEERING IT PUTS ME AND OTHERS AT RISK BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS VERY HARD TO STEER. WARNING LAMP STARTED COMING ON AND GOING OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. IT HAS SINCE STOPPED HAVING POWER STEERING AND THE LIGHT STAYS ON.
I keep losing power steering control because of leaking. I contacted a dealership and was told that there wasn't any recall concerning , power steering, transmission, airbag and body control module. I contacted GM and was told that the recall has ended.
I'm having a really back growling sound & it keeps having lose of steering. 1 minute it's fine the next it won't steer. There has been several recalls on lose of steering with this year. It says all recalls has been done on it. But if that's the case why is these problems still happening
The contact owns a 2007 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, there was a gasoline odor coming from the vehicle. The odor was also outside the vehicle. The contact became aware of a fluid leak underneath the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, and a fuel leak was confirmed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 13E043000 (Fuel System, Gasoline, Equipment). The failure mileage was unavailable.
Currently at around 220,000 miles and my power steering is constantly going out. Luckily it hasn’t gone out while driving, yet, but when I turn my car on the steering wheel is stiff and I get the power steering alert on the radio screen. I turn the car off and on a couple of times and it goes off. My concern is it happening while driving. Also, since this has occurred, my steering wheel shakes/turns left to right on its own while at a complete stop. As I’m driving I feel it trying to move on its own. Kind of scary.
The contact owns a 2007 Pontiac G6. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the cruise control became inoperable. The contact stated that the cruise control inadvertently disengaged. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that while attempting to depress the brake pedal, the brake light failed to illuminate. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 105,653.
The Power Steering stopped working randomly after driving on December 25th 2024, making it incredibly difficult to turn and keep the car steady. This made me feel very unsafe since I was driving my family. I searched online and apparently there had been recalls of my car model prior so I want to know if i qualify for this recall
FAILED COMPONENT SYSTEM: Driver & Passenger side Airbag system. SAFETY RISK: I was involved in motor vehicle collision, resulting in extensive front-end damage to my car. Upon impact, the driver and passenger side airbags did NOT deploy, which based on the extent of the damage to my vehicle they should have deployed. CONFIRMED REPORT: Yes, one component of the airbag system has already been reported to NHTSA for this make & model car pertaining defects or a problem of the passenger airbag sensing system/FMVSS 208, which can be referenced under the following Campaign number: 07V146000. While this is one safety component that is known & reported to NHTSA as wqell as GM, the component that I would like to personally repot is pertaining to specifically the driver side airbag as it did NOT deploy upon impact. INSPECTION: Yes, while my vehicle underwent a general inspection, following the collision, that was conducted through my insurance company, there has NOT been a thorough inspection into the Airbag Sensing System, or my vehicles Event Data Records (EDR) yet. I filed a Product Assistance Claim (PCC) personally with General Motors, letting them know of this problem of my airbags for which I have been contacted by one of GMs PAC customer representatives, but I have only heard from this individual once since I've opened the claim with GM. I have reached out by phone as well as email to follow up with GM on the status of my PAC, but unfortunately, I have not heard back from him since. WARNING MESSAGES: No, there was no warning light or message displayed anywhere that would be suggest a problem or that maintenance was indicated or needed.
My power steering keep leaking making it hard to steer. Electric fuse keep blowing out,
2 months give/take few days power Steering locked up.Was not able to steer. Had to use flashers & carefully vere off road.Turned car off.Gave myself minutes to think. Started car tried turning steering wheel & bam it was fine. Hesitant I got back on road & went home w/no problem.2nd incident was same which happened 2nd wk Jan 2025.There was no warning of any kind either time.It has not been taken anywhere to be evaluated. Inspection is due Feb 2025 was going say something then.Whether this has anything related, turn signal lever had to be manually turned off until sometime between the 2 incidents & it now clicks off itself like it should.
Electric power Steering cut out without warning while driving but came back after restarting the car.
The contact owns a 2007 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds into a driveway, she became aware that the electronic power steering was not functioning properly, requiring increased effort to maneuver the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the power steering return line hose assembly due to being near the exhaust. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Brake lights operate backwards at times, sometimes they operate normal. Sometimes not at all.
Car loses power steering randomly...it has gone out in traffic...it usually goes out as soon as I put it in drive but if i turn the car off and re start it it steers fine. But when it lost power during rush hour traffic I was almost run over and had the hardest time steering to safety. Why is there not a recall on this because I've seen several reports of this happening.
The contact owns a 2007 Pontiac G6. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed at night, the brake lights illuminated without the brake pedal being depressed; however, the brake lights failed to illuminate while the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V252000 (Electrical System, Exterior Lighting, Vehicle Speed Control, Electronic Stability Control). The failure mileage was approximately 225,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Pontiac G6. The contact stated while driving at 60 MPH, the vehicle began to vibrate abnormally. The contact stated several weeks later while stopped, the power steering message was displayed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was restarted but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic however, no cause for the failure was found. The mechanic reset the settings to the manufacturer's setting. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The dealer was contacted, and the contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V064000 (Steering). The dealer stated that the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,300.
After purchasing my 2007 Pontiac G6 from a private seller, I quickly noticed a significant decline in steering responsiveness within just four days. A mechanic later confirmed that the entire steering rack needs replacement, and the cost of this exceeds the current value of the vehicle itself. This abrupt failure of such a critical component renders the car unsafe to drive. The specific component that failed is the steering rack, and it is available for inspection upon request. The safety risk emerged as the vehicle became increasingly difficult to control, heightening the potential for accidents and injuries to both myself and others on the road. While the problem has been confirmed by an independent service center, it has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or any other entities. No warning lamps or messages were indicating an issue with the steering system before the failure. The decline in steering responsiveness happened suddenly, and no pre-existing symptoms were evident. Given the severity of this safety concern, I strongly urge the NHTSA to promptly investigate and consider a recall. Failure to address this potential defect could result in preventable accidents and injuries to drivers, passengers, and other motorists. Your expeditious attention to this matter is crucial for ensuring public safety.
I bought my G6 in 2022. After about a year of having it, issues started happening. Everything was fine up until my passenger side airbag warning appeared on my radio screen and it won't go off. Could be a serious issue with the airbag. Maybe around the end of 2023 I started having problems with my power steering. I could drive down the road and all of a sudden my steering wheel would lock up. I could barely get myself to a spot to get off the road. I had to force the steering wheel to turn. I shut the car off for a minute or so just to see what would happen. After I turned the car back on the steering cleared, but as soon as I decided to go back home it locked back up. Now it's starting to lock back up this year. My major issue I have is the gas smell that's coming from the car. The smell is so strong, it's coming inside the car. When I went to get some tires put on car, the mechanic said he smelled the gas and there was a gas leak coming from the tank. The smell is so strong it can cause someone to pass out. It also causes the car to stall when trying to start it. I don't think this is safe. I have to drive my grand kids in my car. There needs to be a recall on this gas leak issue. Someone can get killed or badly injured if not taken seriously. I didn't have any warning signals appear at all about the gas/fuel issue.
The contact owns a 2007 Pontiac G6. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. An unknown message for the power steering was displayed. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact turned off the vehicle and waited for a while before restarting the vehicle. The vehicle was able restarted; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that the failure had gotten progressively worse. The failure mileage was approximately 240,000.
The contact's daughter owns a 2007 Pontiac G6. The contact stated while the driver was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure persisted while starting the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was undrivable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V064000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.
My taillights will not come on. It's not a fuse because if it were the the dash lights would also be out, but they're not
GM has routed the high pressure power steering line up against the header exhaust. This was done consciously due to the fact that the manufacture put a foil heat shield sleeve on that section of the line. Anyone with a spec of engineering insight will confirm that this foil sleeve is a postponed or bandaid for the issue. It's not a fix nor a solution but a delay in the failure of the line. The thousands of exact same issues online reassures my assessment. The immediate conversion to manual steering with the rear tires covered in power steering fluid doesn't seem to fit well on an on ramp while elder driving. Thank you for your time.
Theres a recall on this
Electrical issue with my pontiac g6 I have had to replace my headlights bulbs multiple times due to the plugs melting I have actively seen the plug smoking and it has happened on both of my drl/low beam headlight bulbs resulting in plugs having to be replaced multiple times as well. My engine light isn't working and yet I have engine codes my service air bag light comes on at random my buckle seat belt light won't go off it stays on when I'm buckled in the driver's seat. My pressure sensor on my fuel tank has low voltage issues. When shutting the car off and opening the driver door all accessories that should of shut off are still active including the radio. The oil light is always turning on but the vehicle isn't low on oil nor does the message appear. When plugging in a car scanner the anti theft system light turns on and at random times will shut the car off. When the car scanner gets plugged in the rpms drop for a second and then go up as well. At times only one of my headlights work and I have to smack the headlight that isn't working to get it working.
The contact owns a 2007 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag, stability trac, traction control, and brake warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the contact had to forcefully depress the brake pedal to shift the vehicle out of park(P). The cruise control also intermittently failed to activate and deactivate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.
Power Steering quit working while driving
The power steering comes and goes while driving or even while in park. if i turn the vehicle on and off several times I can get the power steering to work sometimes. This vehicle is unsafe to drive.
My electric power steering keeps going in and out now I don't have any anything but stiffness from the steering wheel. Car is not drivable. Big safety risks.
2007 PONTIAC G6. CONSUMER STATED THAT THEY ARE EXPERIENCING VIBRATION AND SHAKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THE RECALL ISSUED ON 2015-2017, BUT THE DEALER PROVIDED HER WITH A PRINTOUT OF THIS RECALL.

The plastic hose that comes off the fuel pump cracked causing fuel to leak out of my car and very strong gas Vapors inside of my car. The smell of gas inside my car was so strong it literally made me sick not to mention gas leak in everywhere is never good. There was no light sensor or anything that come on to give any warnings still no lights on no check engine no nothing just fuel sausage and the smell is how I discovered it also there are many others with the Pontiac G6 GT they have the same issue which is why we are trying to report it to y'all as a safety concern
No Low Beam Headlights illuminate now but one low beam headlight had been installed recently and BCM and/or harness was adjusted after which both low beam headlights had been working
My steering wheel has been having a mind of its own last couple of weeks. It moves by itself back and forth from left to right it takes alot of effort to keep it straight. Very dangerous today my power steering light came on. This is the first time the service light came in the but the problem itself started about 2 weeks ago. The steering wheel also vibrates on and off.
Going down a busy highway at night, 1 minute the car is fine, the next minute the lights go off and then the car dies. The service air bag light came on, the oil light came on, the anti theft light came on and the battery light also. I tried to crank it, nothing. I put a jump box on the battery it Crunk. Within the last 6 months I have replaced the starter twice, the alternator twice, the fuse box twice, and the battery twice.
Brake lights stay on when the car is in drive. Cruise control will not work. There are other intermittent electrical issues that are not safety related. With the brake lights always on, other drivers don't know when I'm stopping. The problem is ongoing and has been confirmed by an independent mechanic. there were no warning lights or messages. the problem started several years ago before I owned the car.
i was driving my car and stopped at a stop sign and my car shut down could not get it to turn back on at all had to get it towed to my apt then get it towed to a mechanic he said it was the starter and said it will continue to turn off untill the throttle body and map sensor are fixed also said 8f i turn my ac on it will turn off because something about the valve broke I'm not sure what that meant but i only had the car not even 3 months I spoke to the car lot who sold it to me and he told me i would have to pay for it and i don't have that kind of money i spent $3500 for the purchase of the car not so it can brake down 2 months later
Headlight went out . Upon changing it I noticed that wiring harness was burnt and melted. Also was driving and power steering went out driving 65 miles per hour. The cruise control got stuck . Right side making horrible noise at times. This has put me and my five year old as well as anyone driving near me at risk of dying.
The contact's daughter owns a 2007 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the power steering assist warning light illuminated. The vehicle then experienced a loss of power steering assist. The contact replaced the fuse; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 146,000.
Radio Stopped working won’t power on, BRAKE, TC, ABS & CHECK ENGINE light stay on for some reason!
Electrical system has mysteriously drained 2 batteries, the exterior lights vary on which will work despite the bulbs being good, the electric power steering comes on then off at inopportune times makes steering heavy and difficult to maintain Speed fluctuation the car will jump into gear or rev up to appropriate gear.
Steering wheel has un- commanded movement, steering system alert message present and power steering assist is inoperable. Causes difficulty making directional changes and maintaining vehicle control.
The contact's son owns a Pontiac G6. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, her son noticed that the steering wheel was locked. The power steering assists warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently and her son was able to take the vehicle to an unknown dealer who diagnosed that the steering column needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving and making turns. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the steering column needed to be replaced and the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V064000 (STEERING). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
Brakes, steering ,wheels, intake manifold gasket ,Thermostat, lighting ,a/c
All rear lights do not work. I have had the bulbs and fuses replaced the only lights that work are the side markers. Front headlights, I have had the bulbs, fuses, and all components replaced or checked to determine why front passenger headlight was working intermittently and now longer works at all high or low beams, driver side front only high beam works. I was informed there was a recall on a wiring cluster on these vehicles that controls the lights.
While driving the power steering ceased / seized up - car filled with grey smoke that smelled like burning rubber. Had vehicle towed, told it was steering pump - every year before and after the 2007 had a steering recall ??
Bad fuel leak , location from top of fuel cell, Definitely from the fuel pump area of the top of the tank. Can't drive because it leaks so bad that fuel is dropping on top of the exhaust pipes and I am afraid of a fire any time driving the vehicle.i really like the vehicle but can't drive it because of safety reasons. What now? I have read of other G6 Pontiacs having recalls done so why isn't my vin. Covered the same way? I am very concerned about this leak and for others with the same , considering that it is high risk for loss of life...
I purchased my 2007 pontiac g6 4 cylinder with 40k on the odometer on 5/13/2021. I notice right away it started having problem when i drove it home and it has been almost three weeks now and the problem is intermitten. This issue happens on local road city speed (25mph) and on highway doing highway speed (60mph) intermittently. When this issue occurs the steering wheel shake like crazy and it seems like it wants to pull over to the left or the right (feels like the car wants to drive itself). I would have to put some force to keep the steering wheel straight. The error code would pop up on the radio display stating "power steering". There was a recall for this issue for the electronic power steering assist. The problem is that the recall expired 6/31/2006 and my car is made on 7/2006 so the vin number does not fall in the recall list. The situation is dangerous and this issue need to be address. This recall should extend to all 2005-2010 pontiac g6 with electronic power steering not just pick and choose which year can be on the recall list. This is ridiculous because GM know this problem and they don't care enough to do what they are supposed to do..Obviously I have no dealer warranty since the vehicle is 14 years old so a recall would help since the manufacturer is 110% at fault. GM should included more years on this recall list.. The amount gm dealer wants to fix the problem is ridiculous. Please help.
I'M ON A BUSY CITY STREET AND I WENT TO PUT MY VEHICLE FROM REVERSE INTO DRIVE AND I NOTICED THAT IT WASN'T GOING INTO GEAR AND WHEN I WOULD ACCELERATE ON THE GAS TO MAKE MY VEHICLE GO IT WOULD JUST REV UP LIKE IT WASN'T A YEAR AND THEN I WOULD YOU KNOW TAKE IT BACK TO REVERSE AND THEN BACK TO DRIVE AND IT WOULD STILL NOT GO INTO GEAR FINALLY AFTER ABOUT TWO OR THREE TRIES OF THIS IT FINALLY GOT TO GO INTO DRIVE AND I MADE IT TO HOME THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I WENT TO LEAVE I TRIED TO CRANK MY VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START SO A FRIEND OF MINE POP THE HOOD AND HE NOTICED THAT THE THING THAT PUTS MY CAR INTO GEAR WAS NOT ATTACHED ANYMORE AND THAT IS WHY MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND I HAD THE PROBLEM THAT I HAD THE NIGHT PRIOR. NEXT PROBLEM I HAVE IS MY AIRBAG SYMBOL POPS UP OFF AND ON WHILE I'M DRIVING AND WE'LL STAY ON FOR A WHILE AND THEN GO OFF AND THEN IT'LL COME BACK ON ABOUT A WEEK LATER AND THEN IT'LL GO OFF AGAIN AND THIS HAPPENS WHEN I'M DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY DOWN THE STREET JUST RANDOMLY. NEXT IS MY POWER STEERING POWER STEERING WHEN I START THE VEHICLE AND PUT MY CAR INTO GEAR AND ATTEMPT TO TURN MY WHEEL TO REVERSE OR YOU KNOW TO GET OUT OF A PARKING POSITION MY POWER STEERING WILL BE REALLY HARD REALLY TIGHT I TRY TO TURN IT AND I CAN'T TURN IT VERY FAR BECAUSE OF THE PRESSURE BEHIND IT I WILL PUT MY CAR BACK INTO GEAR TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN MY STEERING WHEEL AS MUCH AS I CAN TO THE LEFT AS FAR AS IT'LL GO AND THEN TO THE RIGHT AS FAR AS IT'LL GO AND THEN FINALLY IT WILL LOOSEN UP SO WHERE I CAN TURN MY VEHICLE.
