TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DECELERATING, THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE AND ERRONEOUSLY ILLUMINATED WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS NOT DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,000.
THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF WHEN THE STEERING COLUMN WAS TURNED COMPLETELY. THIS OF WHICH PUT MYSELF, AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS, IN JEOPARDY. LUCKILY, THIS OCCURRED IN A PARKING LOT WITH NO OTHER CARS AROUND. IF THIS OCCURRED ON A HIGHWAY TURN-AROUND OR UNDER DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES, MANY PEOPLE COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED OR KILLED. *TR
WE HAVE A CLUNKING IN THE FRONT END OF THIS PIECE OF CRAP WHILE TURNING. WE HAVE REPLACED THE STRUT & SPRING ASSEMBLY AND SWAY BARS IN THE FRONT, AS WELL AS THE REAR SHOCKS. NOW ITS GETTING HARD TO TURN AND APPEARS TO BE THE POWER STEERING OR A STEERING SHAFT ISSUE. ALSO THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT IS NOW ON AFTER THE FUSE FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL BLEW, REPLACED FUSE AND STILL REMAINS ON. I PURCHASED THIS CAR FOR MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND NOW FEEL ITS A DEATH TRAP, THERE APPEARS TO BE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR AND NO RECALLS. HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF IT WAS YOUR CHILD DRIVING IT, OR YOURSELF FOR THAT MATTER. YOU REALLY NEED TO GET IT TOGETHER AND DO SOMETHING!!! *TR
WHEN BRAKING, THE LIGHTS OPERATE INCORRECTLY. WHEN THE BRAKES ARE DEPRESSED, THE LIGHTS ARE OFF AND WHEN THE BRAKES ARE NOT PRESSED, THE LIGHTS ARE ON. ALSO WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE CRUISE CONTROLS FAILS TO FUNCTION. ALSO WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE BRAKE MUST BE DEPRESSED AGGRESSIVELY TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK. I AM 16 YRS OLD AND I WAS DRIVING MY CAR THROUGH TOWN..IT CHIMED A NOISE AND SHOWED POWER STEERING ON DASH! STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. SCARED ME I COULDN'T DO ANYTHING, BUT SLAM ON THE BRAKES.! *TR
I USED TO WORK LATE NIGHTS, AND WHILE DRIVING HOME ONE NIGHT I NOTICED MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE REALLY BRIGHT. WHEN I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN MY BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD TURN OFF. I ALSO HAVE PROBLEMS PULLING MY CAR FROM PARK TO REVERSE OR DRIVE. IT MAKES ME REALLY NERVOUS TO DRIVE AND IT SEEMS AS THOUGH IT JUST KEEPS GETTING WORSE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO OR EVEN HOW TO FIX IT. I REALLY CAN'T FIND ANYBODY WHO KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT. EVERYTHING I'VE LOOKED UP IS JUST A TEMPORARY FIX. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT BEING USED, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL STAY ON AND WILL TURN OFF WHEN THE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. ADDITIONALLY, CAR HARD TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK, AND THAT CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT ENGAGE PROPERLY. *TR
A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE PRESENT WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING, BEING DRIVEN AND WHEN STOPPED. FUEL LEAK FROM AROUND THE FUEL TANK. *TR
WAS INFORMED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS BAD AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS WAS REPLACED THREE YEARS AGO SO I GOT A SECOND OPINION AND WAS GIVEN THE SAME DIAGNOSTIC. CALLED GM AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL EXPIRED AT 120,000 MILES. TECHNICALLY THE PART ON THE VEHICLE DOESN'T HAVE 120,000 MILES ON IT BECAUSE IT WAS REPLACED AT 65,000 MILES. AND I WAS NEVER SENT A RECALL NOTICE. *TR
WHEN THE 2007 PONTIAC G6 IS IN DRIVE THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE INDICATED BRIGHT AS IF THE BRAKE PEDAL IS BEING PRESSED. WHEN THE PEDAL IS NOT PRESSED THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED AS IF THE PEDAL IS BEING PRESSED. WHEN THE PEDAL IS PRESSED TO APPLY THE BRAKES THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO FROM BRIGHT TO OFF INDICATING THE BRAKES ARE NOT BEING APPLIED WHEN, IN FACT, THEY ARE. *TR
AS WITH OTHER G6'S. MINE HAS THE ISSUE WHERE THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ALWAYS ENGAGED AND THEY TURN OFF ONLY WHEN BRAKE. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON FOR NO REASON AND WHEN PEDAL IS PRESSED THE LIGHTS GO OFF.. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND HAVE ALMOST CAUSED 2 ACCIDENTS IN ONE TRIP HOME FROM WORK. I HAVE BROUGHT CAR TO STS AND THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR AND IT STILL DID NOT CORRECT ISSUE. I SEE MANY OTHER OWNERS ARE DEALING WITH THE SAME ISSUE, AND BELIEVE THIS TO BE A MAJOR CONCERN FOR ALL. *JB
BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON WHEN NOT PRESSING ON THE BRAKES BUT WHEN PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL THEY GO OFF SO PEOPLE DON'T KNOW WHEN YOU ARE STOPPING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT AN ESTIMATED 45 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL PRECEDED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY FROM LEFT TO RIGHT AND WE IMMEDIATELY PULLED TO SIDE OF ROAD TO INSPECT THE FRONT WHEELS TO MAKE SURE THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. TRIED TO TAKE OFF AND DRIVE AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY THEREFORE PULLED OVER AGAIN AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. PAID $100.00 TO HAVE IT TOWED. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WE PURCHASED IT FROM AND THEY PROCEEDED TO TELL US THAT THERE WERE SERVICE BULLETINS ON THIS MATTER WITH THE CAR. THEY PROCEEDED TO TELL US THAT OUR CAR WAS NOT COVERED BECAUSE IT HAD THE WRONG VIN NUMBER UNDER WARRANTY. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION SAID THAT BASICALLY IT WAS GOING TO BE OUR PROBLEM AND WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT TO GET FIXED EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE SERVICE BULLETINS ISSUED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THEY CHARGED ME $40 TO CHECK IT OUT, PLUS QUOTED US A PRICE OF OVER $800 TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND PLUS THE TOWING PROBLEM THAT GM HAS PRODUCED DANGEROUS SITUATIONS WITH THERE PRODUCT AND WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUCT. THIS IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE CHECKED ON CONSIDERING THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS THAT HAVE BEEN LODGED ABOUT THE SAME THING HAPPENING TO OTHER PEOPLE WHILE DRIVING. I WOULD LIKE A RESPONSE AS TO HOW THEY ARE ABLE TO GET AWAY WITH THIS PROBLEM AND WILL FIX SOME CARS WITH THE PROBLEM AND NOT OTHER ONES. THANK YOU. *TR
DRIVING ALONG AT DUSK AND NOTICED THAT THE CHMSL WAS LIT IN THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR. STEPPED ON BRAKE PEDAL AND CHMSL WENT OUT. DROVE ANOTHER 200 FEET AND LIGHT WENT BACK ON. REPEATED SEQUENCE SEVERAL TIMES. BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON AND THEN GO OUT WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED. *TR

OUR ELEC POWER STEERING IS GOING. IN CHECKING THE INTERNET I NOTE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. I NOTE IN CANADA WHERE CARS ARE MANUFACTURED DIFFERENTLY THAN HERE IN THE USA THEY HAVE RECALLED THE PONT G6 FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. I WOULD SUGGEST YOU LOOK AT THERE DATA AND INVESTIGATE THE SAME. CANADA'S NOTICE IS BELOW: A GRAND TOTAL OF 67,414 SEDANS ARE BEING RECALLED BY GM INCLUDING THE CHEVROLET MALIBU AND MALIBU MAXX (2005, 2006, 2008), PONTIAC G6 (2005, 2006, 2008), AND SATURN AURA (2008). THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MAY EXPERIENCE A SUDDEN LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST THAT COULD OCCUR AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING. A MESSAGE WOULD BE DISPLAYED ON THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTRE AND A CHIME WOULD SOUND TO INFORM THE DRIVER. STEERING CONTROL CAN BE MAINTAINED, AS THE VEHICLE WILL REVERT TO A MANUAL STEERING MODE, BUT REQUIRES GREATER DRIVER EFFORT AT LOW SPEEDS. THIS INCREASES THE RISK OF A COLLISION. OWNERS ARE ADVISED TO TAKE THEIR VEHICLE TO A GM DEALER TO RECEIVE A SPECIAL EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR A PERIOD OF 10 YEARS/240,000 KM FROM THE DATE THE VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY PUT IN SERVICE. FOR 2005 AND 2006 MODELS, DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN. FOR 2008 MODELS, THEY WILL REPLACE THE POWER STEERING MOTOR CONTROL MODULE. *TR
RETURNED TO CAR,AFTER LEAVING THE GYM, CAR WOULD NOT START MAKING LOUD NOISE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START. TRIPLE AAA CAME ATTEMPTED TO CHARGE BATTERY THEN CHANGE BATTERY STILL NOT STARTING SO IT WAS TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER REPORTED COULD NOT GET ENGINE TO GO FORWARD OR BACKWARDS QUESTIONED IF WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON OR ANY LEAKS WHICH THERE WERE NONE, INFORMED I WOULD NEED NEW ENGINE AND DECIDED TO GO FORWARD WITH THAT. REBUILT ENGINE PUT IN VEHICLE, DEALER THEN INFORMED ME THAT CAR HAD LOSS OF POWER NO ACCELERATION THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS BAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, BUT IS UNDER WARRANTY BY GM. NOW I'M UPSET THAT THERES BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, I WAS NOT NOTIFIED AND IT COST ME AN ENGINE. *JS
STEERING MAKING A CLUNK NOISE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL AROUND BENDS. *TR
THE BRAKE PEDAL VIBRATES WHEN DISENGAGING THE CAR OUT OF PARK INTO DRIVE; SOMETIMES IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET THE SHIFTER OUT OF PARK. THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE CONSTANTLY ON WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING. THEN WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED, THE BRAKE LIGHTS TURN OFF. THE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK EITHER; I BELIEVE BECAUSE THE CAR THINKS THE BRAKE PEDAL IS BEING PUSHED. UPDATED 8/22/13 *CN ALSO, THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT ENGAGE. HOWEVER, THE LIGHT WAS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. *TR
MY POWER STEERING SIGNAL COMES ON ACROSS THE RADIO DASH AND THEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP, SO THEN I HAVE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART IT. *TR
RECENTLY SMELLED FUEL INSIDE CAR. PROBLEM WAS A LEAKING FUEL RAIL, WHICH I WAS TOLD WAS VERY UNUSUAL. $500 IN REPAIRS. THIS PART IS RARELY DEFECTIVE , VEHICLE HAS 47K MILES. OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT I AM LOOKING FOR SOME TYPE OF REIMBURSEMENT DUE TO THE SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN OF LEAKING FUEL IN A HOT ENGINE COMPARTMENT. *TR

MY PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM LIGHT WENT OUT. WHEN I WENT TO REPLACE IT, NOTICED THAT ONE SIDE OF THE CONNECTOR WAS MELTED. WENT AHEAD AND REPLACED THE BULB ANYWAYS, BUT IT WILL NOT WORK. HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER SEVERAL TIMES. FROM MY RESEARCH ON HOW TO FIX THIS, I HAVE COME ACROSS COUNTLESS OTHERS ENCOUNTERING THE SAME PROBLEM FROM MODEL YEARS 2005-2009. *TR
WELL ONE THE ELECTRICAL IS SO MESSED UP THAT I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH BRIGHTS ON I KEEP PUTTING NEW LIGHTS IN AND NOTHING WORKS... THE LAST INCIDENT I HAD MY 3 BOYS WITH ME AND I WENT TO TURN OUT OF GAS STATION AND MY POWER STEERING COMPLETELY WENT OUT AND COME TO FIND OUT IT USES NO POWER STEERING FLUID AND I HAD A GUY TELL ME IT WAS ON RECALL FOR THOSE REASONS AND I STILL OWE ON THIS CAR AND CAR LOT WILL NOT HELP ME. *TR

THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WAS LEAKING FUEL. THIS YEAR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL, BUT IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT THE OTHER PONTIAC G6'S WERE HAVING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE HEADLIGHT CONNECTORS WERE BURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT HAVING ENGAGED THE BRAKES AND WHEN THE CONTACT HAD ENGAGED THE BRAKES, THE LIGHT WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. THE FAILURE ALSO AFFECTED THE CRUISE CONTROL AND WOULD CAUSE IT TO INDEPENDENTLY DISENGAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION SOLENOID TO BECOME DEFECTIVE AND AS A RESULT, IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,070. UPDATED 10/17/13*CN
I HAVE A 2007 PONTIAC G6. IT HAS THE SAME FUEL PROBLEM THAT THE 2007 G5 HAS, THERE IS A HAIRLINE CRACK IN THE ELBOW ON THE FUEL PUMP & IS LEAKING GAS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE NEITHER. I NEED SOMEONE TO GET IN CONTACT WITH ME. I AM PAYING OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED WHEN IT SHOULD BE THE MANUFACTURES ISSUE. I HAVE READ ONLINE & THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THE SAME VEHICLE AS MINE WHICH RESULTED IN THE VEHICLE CATCHING ON FIRE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ERRONEOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
MY SON WAS DRIVING HIS 2007 PONTIAC G6 GTP ON A HIGHWAY (55 MPH SPEED LIMIT) AND SUDDENLY THE CAR DOWNSHIFTED AND STARTED SHAKING. IT STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND HE FINALLY GOT TO OUR HOMETOWN.... THE CAR DOWNSHIFTED AGAIN, AND WENT DOWN TO 10 MPH BEFORE HE FINALLY COASTED INTO OUR DRIVEWAY. HE COULD NOT GET IT UP TO SPEED AT ALL AND HAD TO GO AS FAST AS THE TRANSMISSION WOULD ALLOW HIM IN ORDER TO GET HOME AND GET THE CAR OFF THE ROAD. THIS PROBLEM - A BROKEN 3,5,R CLUTCH WAVE PLATE - HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED VIA GM SERVICE BULLETIN 09-07-30-012 AND I AM GETTING THE RUNAROUND FROM GM ON THEM FIXING IT, ALL BECAUSE IT'S OVER 100,000 MILES. HAD THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED ON THE INTERSTATE (WHICH HE WAS ON JUST PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT), HE COULD HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED OR EVEN KILLED FROM THE SUDDEN DROP IN SPEED SINCE THE SPEED LIMIT ON THE INTERSTATE IN IOWA IS 70 MPH). THIS PROBLEM IS WELL KNOWN, YET GM WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE IT SINCE THE COST TO REPAIR IS PHENOMENAL. GM NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS FAULTY CLUTCH WAVE PLATE, WHICH IS ALSO A PROBLEM IN ACADIAS, BUICK ENCLAVES AND SATURN OUTLOOKS FROM 2007 - 2009. I'M SURE THIS REPAIR WILL BE VERY COSTLY, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY - MY SON COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED HAD HE NOT BEEN WHERE HE WAS WHEN IT BROKE. *TR
THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS FOR THE HEADLIGHTS (LOW BEAM) KEEP NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG OTHER G6 OWNERS I KNOW. IT APPEARS THE COMPANY USED CHEAPLY MADE PARTS FOR THIS AND THUS THEY ARE CORRODING AND NOT WORKING PROPERLY. HUGE SAFETY ISSUE IF YOU DON'T HAVE WORKING LIGHTS. *TR
THE WIRING HARNESS THAT THE WHOLE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY CONNECTS TO IS ERODING AND CAUSES THE HEADLIGHT TO GO ON AND OFF AND MY LOW BEAM LIGHT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. I WAS PULLED OVER BY GOOD SAMARITANS TO LET ME KNOW MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON WHILE DRIVING BUT COMPLETELY OFF WHEN IN USE. AFTER RESEARCH ON INTERNET THIS IS HIGHLY COMMON IN THESE CARS. I FOUND A FIX ONLINE UNTIL I WAS PULLED OVER AGAIN BY GOOD SAMARITANS. I AM 7 MONTHS PREGNANT WITH TWO SMALL CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE I HAVE NO WAY TO KNOW IF THEY ARE WORKING OR NOT UNLESS MY FATHER DOES A BRAKE CHECK SOME DAYS THEY WORK SOME DAYS THEY DON'T. THIS TO ME IS HIGHLY DANGEROUS FOR CONSUMERS THAT DON'T REALIZE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS VEHICLE. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP BUT THEY ARE NOT QUITE SURE WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. IS IT GOING TO TAKE A PREGNANT WOMEN TO GET REAR ENDED OR FOR SOMEONE TO DIE BEFORE THIS BRAKE LIGHT ISSUE IS RESOLVED. THIS IS SCARY AND DANGEROUS. *TR
UPON ACCELERATING AT SPEEDS ABOVE 50MPH, MY TRACTION CONTROL INDICATOR WILL COME ON, SOMETIMES SAYING TRACTION OFF, AND SOMETIMES SAYING TO SERVICE TRACTION. IT WILL SOMETIMES STAY ON AND MAKE MY CAR JERK AROUND A LOT WHILE IT'S SHIFTING GEARS. IF IT DOESN'T GO AWAY SHORTLY AFTER IT CAME ON, IT WILL GO AWAY ONCE I LEAVE MY CAR TURNED OFF FOR A WHILE. IT HAPPENS SO RANDOMLY, AND SOMETIMES WILL BE MONTHS BETWEEN EPISODES, THAT WHEN I'VE TAKEN IT TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT, THEY CAN'T GET IT TO HAPPEN. *TR
IT IS OFTEN VERY HARD TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO GEAR. SOMETIMES PRESSING THE BRAKE VERY HARD WITH 2 FEET WILL ALLOW IT TO SHIFT, OTHER TIMES WE HAVE TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND ON AND THEN PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL VERY HARD AND IT WILL SHIFT. NOW THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. THEY STAY ON WHEN THE BRAKE IS NOT DEPRESSED. THEY SOMETIMES GO OFF WHEN THE BRAKE IS DEPRESSED. THIS CAR BELONGS TO MY TEEN DAUGHTER. THE FRONT ELECTRICAL PORT WAS BEING USED BY AN MP3 PLAYER FM TRANSMITTER WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS OFF. THE FM TRANSMITTER TURNED OFF, AND AFTER THE CAR WAS LEFT ALONE FOR A FEW MINUTES, SMOKE WAS COMING OUT FROM THE VEHICLE AND IT SMELLED OF BURNT PLASTIC. FM TRANSMITTER WAS REMOVED AND THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE WAS DISCONNECTED. THE SOURCE OF SMOKE WAS THE REAR TRUNK FUSE BLOCK WHICH HAD MELTED AROUND THE SITE OF THE FRONT ELECTRIC PORT FUSE. ONCE SMOKE CLEARED, NEGATIVE CABLE WAS REATTACHED. AFTER A COUPLE MINUTES OF CHECKING CAR ELECTRICAL FROM DRIVERS SEAT, THE FUSE BLOCK WAS CHECKED AND A SMALL FIRE HAD STARTED. THIS WAS QUICKLY PUT OUT AND NEGATIVE CABLE TO BATTERY DISCONNECTED AGAIN. ANY REMAINING METAL BITS FROM ELECTRIC PORT FUSE WERE REMOVED AND ONCE THE NEGATIVE CABLE WAS AGAIN REATTACHED, NO MORE SMOKE APPEARED. HOWEVER, PARK LAMPS WOULD NOT TURN OFF, CAR DID NOT KNOW TRUNK WAS CLOSED, THE LEFT REAR TURN SIGNAL DID NOT WORK (EVEN THOUGH IT LIT UP WHEN PARK LAMPS WERE LEFT ON). OTHER RANDOM BUTTONS ON DRIVER CONTROL PANEL DID NOT WORK (REAR DEFROST, BUT FUSE WAS FINE). *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND WAS NOT INSPECTED FOR THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG AND SEAT BELT FAILURE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE INCIDENT. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 118,000.

WILL NOT RESTART AND MUST BE TOWED. AGAIN, TOW TRUCK DRIVER JIGGLES THE KEY TO START THE ENGINE. APRIL 30, 2015 FUEL SYSTEM SERVICE AND ADJUST LOOSE TRANSMISSION CABLE - $203.25 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES BACK ON THE NEXT DAY. MAY 8, 2015 ENGINE SHUTS OFF AFTER DECELERATING TO DRIVE OVER A SPEED HUMP. RESTARTS SHORTLY AFTERWARDS. MAY 15, 2015 ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE COMING TO A STOP TO LET A CAR IN FRONT TURN LEFT. CAR RESTARTS AFTER A FEW MINUTES. EVERY TIME THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF, THE POWER STEERING AND POWER BREAKS FAIL AS WELL. FORTUNATELY, EVERY ONE OF THE NEARLY HALF-DOZEN TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED, IT HAS OCCURRED AT LOW SPEED OR WHILE STOPPED. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THIS OCCURRED AT 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. ALTHOUGH THE G6 IS NOT INCLUDED AS ONE OF THE 20 MODELS AND 2.6 MILLION CARS RECALLED FOR A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH, THE LIKENESSES BETWEEN MY ISSUES AND THESE OTHER CARS ARE STRIKINGLY SIMILAR.
