THE BRAKE LAMPS TO ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS NOT BEEN DEPRESSED, OR THE LAMPS MAY NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION, THE CRUISE CONTROL MAY NOT ENGAGE, AND GREATER BRAKE PEDAL FORCE MAY BE REQUIRED TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK.
I WAS TURNING MY 07 PONTIAC G6 GOING APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MPH AND THE WHOLE STEERING SYSTEM LOCKED UP, THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS IN THE OTHER LANE WHILE TURNING SINCE MY TURN NOW HAD TO BE WIDE. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE DISPLAY SAID "POWER STEERING", I PULLED CAR OVER TO THE SIDE AND TURNED HAZARD LIGHTS ON. I MADE A PHONE CALL TO MY BROTHER WHO TOLD ME TO TRY TO GET TO THE NEAREST PARKING LOT, I WAS EXTREMELY UPSET AT THIS TIME AS EVEN DRIVING STRAIGHT TO THE NEAREST LOT WAS HARD FOR ME TO CONTROL AT A LOW SPEED. I MADE IT AND PHYSICALLY COULD NOT TURN CAR INTO A SPOT. MY BROTHER CAME TO PICK ME UP. THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF FOR ABOUT A HALF HOUR, WHEN HE RESTARTED THE CAR THE POWER STEERING SEEMED TO WORK AGAIN, AS I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE HOME, HE DROVE IT HOME FOR ME WHICH WAS ABOUT A HALF HOUR AWAY. TURNING TO THE RIGHT FEELS LIKE IT WANTS TO GIVE OUT AGAIN. I CONTACTED GM PONTIAC WHO SAID TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE INSPECTED. TODAY I TOOK IN AND WAITING FOR A CALL BACK FROM THE SERVICE CENTER. I HAVE READ MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS REGARDING SAME ISSUE AND I AM TRULY AFRAID TO DRIVE CAR AS THIS IS BOUND TO HAPPEN AGAIN, I HAVE 3 CHILDREN THAT I WILL NOT PUT IN CAR NOW UNTIL SOMETHING IS DONE. GM NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECTIVE PRODUCT THAT THEY MADE. AS OF RIGHT NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME NO RECALL ON THIS YEAR AND MODEL. SERVICE PERSON AT THE DEALER SAID SOME VIN# ARE INCLUDED IN THE OTHER MODEL/YEAR RECALLS HE WOULD HAVE TO CHECK MINE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE LIVES ARE LOST DUE TO THIS. I PAID MY CAR OFF UPFRONT WHEN I PURCHASED IT AND DO NOT FEEL THE NEED TO PAY FOR IT AGAIN. ANYTHING YOU CAN DO TO HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS. *TR
MY CAR HAS HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES FOR A WHILE. NOW THERE IS A RECALL ON THE PROBLEM THAT I HAVE BEEN HAVING. WHEN THE CAR IS GOING DOWN THE ROAD THE BRAKES WILL LIGHT UP BUT WHEN I PUSH ON THE BRAKES THE LIGHTS WILL GO OUT. MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN PUTTING THE ELECTRICAL GREASE ON THE BODY CONTROL MODULE AND IT WILL WORK FOR A WHILE. NOW IT IS ONLY LASTING FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. TOOK MY VIN # TO A GM DEALER AND THEY SAY MY CAR IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND WANT TO CHARGE ME $400.00 TO FIX THE PROBLEM NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NOW I THOUGHT MY CAR WAS PART OF A RECALL. THE PASSENGER SEAT FAILS TO REALIZE THAT SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE SEAT WITH THE SEAT BELT BUCKLED. THEREFORE THE LIGHT AND BELL CONTINUOUSLY GOES OFF WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN IT OR NOT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHEN THE BRAKES WERE NOT APPLIED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER WHERE THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE LIGHT SENSOR, BUT THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST BUT THE TEST RESULTS DID NOT SHOW ANY DEFECTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE NOTICED THAT THE ADELCO BATTERY WAS WEAK AND DECIDED TO HAVE IT EVALUATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE DEALER STATED THAT SOME OF THE WIRES WERE MELTED AND CORROSION WAS ALSO PRESENT. IN ADDITION, THE DEALER LOCATED A HOLE IN THE FUSE BOX AND DAMAGE EXISTED ON VARIOUS OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 51,000.
THE "SERVICE AIR BAG" WARNING MESSAGE KEEPS POPPING UP ON THE DASHBOARD INFORMATION CENTER THIS STARTED VERY INTERMITTENTLY AND HAS GRADUALLY BECOME WORSE. WHEN THE CAR IS FIRST STARTED THE MESSAGE APPEARS AND IT STAYS ON UNTIL THE CAR IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON AS TO WHY THE LIGHT COMES ON. I COULD HAPPEN TWO TRIPS IN A ROW OR ONCE EVERY FEW WEEKS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED BY ANOTHER DRIVER THAT THE EXTERIOR BRAKE LIGHTS WERE REMAINING ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT ENGAGE AND WHEN PARKED, HE HAD TO APPLY EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFTER OUT OF PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTICS WHERE THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE BRAKE SWITCH WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V036000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS) THAT BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE RECALL WAS ONLY FOR THE 2005-2006 MODEL G6. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
OUR PONTIAC G6 WAS RECALLED FOR ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THE BRAKE LIGHTS WENT ON WHEN NOT BRAKING AND WOULDN'T GO ON WHEN I BRAKED. ANYWAY, IT WAS "FIXED" ON 10/12/14 WITH THE RECALL . SO NOW THE SAME ISSUE IS OCCURRING. WE HAD IT FIXED 2 TIMES PREVIOUS TO THE RECALL.THE PROBLEM IS THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM, IF THEIR RECALLED "FIX" DIDN'T WORK, ALL OF THE OWNERS ARE IN THE SAME DILEMMA. *TR
I WAS PULLING INTO WORK WHEN MY CAR FILED WITH SMOKE IN CAB AND COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I TRIED TO PULL INTO A PARK SPOT TO GET OUT TO SAFETY. THE POWER STEERING NOT WORKING, IT TOOK EVERYTHING I HAD TO MAKE THE TURN. THE RUBBER POWER STEERING LINE WAS INSTALLED AGAINST THE EXHAUST UP NEAR THE FIRE WALL AND HAD BURNED THOUGH .ALL THE POWER STEERING FLUID WAS POURING ONTO THE HOT EXHAUST. I CALLED GM TRYING TO GET THEM TO FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE AS I AM NOT THE FIRST ONE WITH IT AND WONT BE THE LAST. TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER MOSS BROTHERS IN MORENO VALLEY CA. SO FAIR THERE ONLY CONCERN IS MAKING A FEW BUCKS FROM THE REPAIR. I WILL KEEP YOU ALL UPDATED AS TO HOW GM IS GOING TO HANDLE CORRECTING THE SAFETY HAZARD IN THEIR DESIGN. *TR
ON HIGHWAY TRAVELING OUT OF TOWN AVERAGING 60-65 IN MY 2007 PONTIAC G6 I LIGHTLY PRESSED BRAKES APPROACHING AN EXIT FOR GAS WHEN A THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING. I HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKES AGAIN TO STOP AFTER EXITING THE HIGHWAY TO STOP. THE SHAKING WAS NOTICEABLY WORSE. I PURCHASED THE CAR USED ABOUT 2 MONTHS BEFORE THIS EVENT SO I DID NOT EXPECT ANY BRAKE ISSUES. AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS MY WIFE MENTIONED A NOISE FROM THE BRAKES. I HAD THE BRAKES INSPECTED AND THE SERVICE PERSON SAID THE BRAKES WERE FINE BUT MY FRONT AND REAR STRUTS WERE BAD. I ASKED HIM IF THIS WOULD CAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL TO SHAKE WHEN BREAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND HE SAID YES. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP OF PURCHASE AND THEY DID A BRAKE INSPECTION EVEN THOUGH I ASKED TO HAVE THE STRUTS LOOKED AT AND STATED THAT ROTORS WERE WARPED. AFTER THIS I SEARCHED FOR PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING ON THE MODEL AND YEAR OF MY CAR. I FOUND THOUSANDS OF CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS OF ALL THE SYMPTOMS AND ISSUES I WAS HAVING. I DID FIND A SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT IN THE STEERING.TECHNICAL BULLETIN NO.: 06-02-32-007G DATE: APRIL 05, 2010 SUBJECT: CLUNK, KNOCK OR RATTLE NOISE FROM FRONT OF VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING OR TURNING OVER BUMPS AT LOW SPEEDS (DIAGNOSE NOISE AND PERFORM OUTLINED REPAIR) MODELS: 2004-2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX 2004-2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU CLASSIC 2008-2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU 2005-2010 PONTIAC G6 2007-2010 SATURN AURA SUPERCEDE: THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO UPDATE THE PARTS INFORMATION FOR THE BOLT. AT THIS POINT I BELIEVE A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED ON THE ENTIRE FRONT SUSPENSION INCLUDING THE FACTORY ROTORS WHICH WARP WITHIN 2K-3K MILES. RE-SURFACING THESE ROTORS INCREASES THE BRAKING PROBLEM. AND A NON-METALLIC CERAMIC BRAKE PAD SHOULD BE INSTALLED BY A GM CERTIFIED SERVICE DEPARTMENT. *TT
I'VE HAD MY CAR SINCE NOVEMBER 2011. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE I NOTICED MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE COMING ON WHEN I WOULD ACCELERATE THEN SHUT OFF WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES. I PAID TO GET IT FIXED, AND 6 MONTHS LATER THE BRAKE LIGHTS QUIT WORKING PERIOD. IN 2012, MY CRUISE CONTROL QUIT WORKING AND HASN'T WORKED SINCE. I'VE TAKEN MY CAR TO A SHOP TWO TIMES IN 2013 AND THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIND A PERMANENT FIX. I'M 12 WEEKS PREGNANT AND I DON'T FEEL LIKE IT IS MY DUTY TO DEAL WITH THESE PROBLEMS CONTINUOUSLY. I'M NOT ONLY PUTTING MY LIFE IN DANGER, BUT MY UNBORN CHILD. I HAVE PAID THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND I CAN'T AFFORD TEMPORARY FIXES. I WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT ANY RECALLS, I HAD TO FIND IT OUT FOR MYSELF. AS A REGISTERED OWNER, I FEEL LIKE THAT AGAIN IS NOT MY DUTY. I PAID FOR A CAR THAT SHOULD BE WORKING PROPERLY! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON ICY ROAD CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED ON THREE OCCASIONS WITHIN THREE YEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
THE VEHICLE'S RUBBER POWER STEERING RETURN HOSE IS RESTING AGAINST THE UNDERSIDE OF THE EXHAUST PIPE. THERE IS A REFLECTANT COVERED FABRIC AS A RADIANT BARRIER, BUT I SUSPECT IS NOT DESIGNED TO PREVENT HEAT (FROM RIGHT AFTER THE PRE-CATALYTIC CONVERTER) FROM SEEPING THROUGH DUE TO CONDUCTION. I HAVE MADE AN INSPECTION THROUGH MY FINGERS AS THERE IS NO WAY OF SEEING THE DAMAGE UNTIL THE HOSE IS REMOVED. THE REFLECTIVE SURFACE MATERIAL IS CLEARLY OFF OF THE REST OF THE MATERIAL AND IT FEELS TO BE COMPLETELY BURNED THROUGH. THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING FLUID COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC FOR TWO REASONS. FIRST WAS THE VIRTUAL LOSS OF STEERING (LUCKILY MY WIFE WAS NOT DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED). SECOND, THAT POWER STEERING FLUID COULD HAVE CAUSED A VEHICLE FIRE HAD IT HIT A HOT EXHAUST INSTEAD OF THE ONE THAT WAS BARELY WARM AFTER LESS THAN 1/2 MILE OF DRIVING. JUST THE SAME, IT CREATED A LOT OF SMOKE CONVINCING MY WIFE THAT HER CAR WAS EITHER ON FIRE OR ABOUT TO BE. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE HOSE ROUTING AND I'LL BE MAKING REPAIRS THIS WEEK-END. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I CAN BE OF ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER. IT IS HARD FOR ME TO FATHOM THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED TO HAVE THIS RUBBER HOSE CONTAINING A FLAMMABLE FLUID TO REST AGAINST A HOT EXHAUST PIPE. WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP GETTING A NEW REGULATOR PUT IN FOR MY POWER WINDOW AND THE TECH THERE DID A INSPECTION OF MY CAR AND TOLD ME THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH MY STEERING WHEEL THE SHAFT. HE THEN CONTINUED TO TELL ME THAT ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO PONTIAC CAME OUT WITH A NEW PART TO FIX THIS PROBLEM IN ALL THE NEW G6S. WHY WAS THERE NOT A RECALL ON THIS MATTER TO THE PONTIAC OWNERS? THIS IS A SAFETY MATTER. AND THERE SHOULD BE NO EXPENSE TO ME OR ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS THIS ISSUE. WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT THIS? *TR

THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL TO BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THE TURN. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE POWER STEERING WHICH CAUSED THE POWER STEERING FLUID TO LEAK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
WHEN PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT AFTER AN HOUR LONG DRIVE, MY PONTIAC G6 GT HARDTOP CONVERTIBLE MADE A LOUD POP AND THEN FILLED WITH SMOKE AND FLAMES SHOT OUT OF THE HOOD. PRIOR TO THAT THERE WAS A POP AND LIQUIDS SPILLED ONTO THE GROUND. I JUMPED OUT OF MY CAR AND RAN TO ALERT A NEARBY POLICE OFFICER. WE GOT BACK TO THE CAR IN LESS THAN A MINUTE AND HE WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES. THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ALSO ALERTED AND THEY ARRIVED TO CHECK THE FIRE. WHEN IT WAS REPAIRED THE TECHNICIAN SAID THAT IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH TRANSMISSION, OR SOME FLUID, IGNITING.

THE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATES AND REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,403.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FLUID LINES FAILED, CAUSING POWER STEERING FLUID TO LEAK ONTO THE ENGINE. WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED, SMOKE WAS EMITTED FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND THE CABIN WAS FILLED WITH SMOKE. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE POWER STEERING LINES. ONE WEEK LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AS SMOKED ENTERED THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR HER VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
THERE IS A SMELL, LIKE REALLY DIRTY SOCKS FROM THE DASH. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME THE CAR IS USED. TO SMELL IT YOU HAVE TO START THE CAR AND IT IS THERE. SOMETIMES THE HEATER IS ON OR THE AIR. IT ALSO BECOMES LESS NOTICEABLE WITH TIME, UP TO 10 MINUTES. IT IS A VERY STRONG SMELL. I DON'T BELIEVE IT IS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, WHICH HAS A DIFFERENT SMELL LIKE ROTTEN EGGS. BECAUSE IT GOES AWAY MOST THE TIME I DON'T THINK IS A DEAD MOUSE OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. IT IS NOT A DEAD ANIMAL SMELL. HELP. YOU WANT TO JUMP OUT OF THE CAR THE FIRST TIME YOU SMELL IT. I DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS A CHEMICAL OR NOT BUT MY NOISE BURNS A LITTLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED WHENEVER THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT WAS OCCUPIED THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE INDICATING THAT IT WAS IN USE. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALLS RELATED TO THE FAILURE AND THAT IN ORDER TO DETERMINE WHAT EXACTLY WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM THEY WOULD NEED TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHICH DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON . THIS ONLY HAPPENS AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN 10+ MILES.AT THIS POINT THE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGES AND THE MANUAL SHIFT FEATURE WON'T WORK. I TOOK IT TO A PONTIAC DEALER (NOW A BUICK GMC DEALER) 2 TIMES AND SPENT $250.00 ON REPAIRS WITH NO SUCCESS. DEALER SAYS HE HAS NO IDEA. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY MATTER. THE G6 OWNERS CLUB IS GETTING MORE AND MORE COMPLAINTS OF THIS EVERY DAY. *KB
I HAVE HAD MY PONTIAC 2007 G6 GT FOR 2 YEARS & HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH IT . JUST 2 DAYS AGO I STARTED SMELLING GASOLINE FUMES , BUT COULDN'T SEE ANY SIGN OF A LEAK SO I TOOK IT TO MY GOODYEAR MECHANIC & THEY FOUND A GAS LEAK WHICH WOULD HAVE ME REPLACE MY WHOLE FUEL PUMP . THIS PROBLEM I GUESS IS COMMON WITH THIS TYPE CAR . MY MECHANIC SAID HE JUST REPLACED 2 FUEL PUMPS SAME MODEL A WEEK AGO. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO GET A ESTIMATE ON HOW MUCH & THEY SAID THAT IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY UP TO 170,000 MILES I HAVE ONLY 80,000 . SO I WAS VERY HAPPY. STILL LOVE MY CAR. *KB
WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, THE CAR WOULD STILL MOVE. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN PARK ON A SMALL INCLINE, THE CAR ROLLED BACKWARDS DOWN THE INCLINE/HILL. THE GEAR SHIFT DID NOT RECOGNIZE THE PARK GEAR. IT REACTED LIKE THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL. ON 10-06-2011, I PAID $251.44 TO THE HAVE THE "TRANS SHIFT CABLE" REPLACED, & THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM.
MY 2007 PONTIAC G6 IS LEAKING FUEL FROM TOP SIDE OF FUEL TANK. I PRESUME THAT THE FUEL LINE OR PUMP IS LEAKING BECAUSE THE VEHICLE DOES NOT START ON FIRST IGNITION CYCLE. THE SECOND CYCLE OF THE IGNITION KEY BUILDS ENOUGH FUEL PRESSURE TO ASSURE A NORMAL START. FUEL RESIDUE CAN BE SEEN ALL AROUND BOTTOM OF FUEL TANK AND ON THE EXHAUST PIPE. *TR
WHEN I PUSH THE GAS MY VEHICLES BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED. WHEN I PUSH ON THE BRAKES THE LIGHTS GO OFF. ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2011, I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHEN I LOST CONTROL OF MY 2007 PONTIAC G6. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED IN THE AFTERNOON, THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND THERE WAS NO PRECIPITATION. I WAS TRAVELING SOUTHBOUND, IN THE LEFT LANE, PASSING A VEHICLE, WHEN SUDDENLY I LOST CONTROL OF MY 2007 PONTIAC G6. THE CAR FELT LIKE IT STARTED TO SWERVE TO THE RIGHT. I TRIED TO CORRECT IT AND THE STEERING WAS HARD, I COULDN'T MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL AND HAD NO CONTROL OF THE CAR. IT WAS VERY SCARY, AS I SWERVED BACK AND FORTH AND FINALLY CROSSED THROUGH THE RIGHT LANE. LUCKILY MY CAR WAS STOPPED BY A GUARD RAIL AND WAS FACING NORTHBOUND. I BOUGHT THIS CAR, A 2007 PONTIAC G6 GT COUPE ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO AND IT ONLY HAD 37,000 MILES. IT NOW STILL ONLY HAS 75,000 AND THE BALL JOINTS ARE OUT! THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN THIS SOON. I HAVE ANOTHER CAR, A 1997 BUICK LESABRE AND IT'S BALL JOINTS ARE STILL IN GOOD CONDITION. IT HAS 167,000 MILES. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON SHOWING THAT THERE IS A MALFUNCTION WITH AIRBAG. DID SEARCH AND SHOWS MY YEAR AND DATE OF MANUFACTURE THERE IS A RECALL BUT DOESN'T SHOW UP WITH MY VIN NUMBER AND DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE. *TR
THE STEERING ON MY CAR FIRST STARTED ACTING UP SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOOK FOREVER TO LOOK AT IT. FINALLY THEY SAID THAT THEY WERE NOT EXACTLY SURE BUT THAT THE INSTRUCTIONS SAID TO FIRST FIX THE STEERING MOTOR AND THEN THE PROBLEM SHOULD BE RESOLVED WITH JUST THAT. SO I HAD THE STEERING MOTOR REPLACED ON MY CAR, WHICH COST OVER $600 DOLLARS TO FIX EVEN THOUGH THEY CLAIMED THEY WERE GOING TO TRY TO HELP ME GET A GOOD DEAL. I HAD THE MOTOR FIXED AND WITHIN A WEEK AND A HALF OR SO THE POWER STEERING WAS GOING OUT AGAIN. IT WOULD GO OUT WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND WOULD NOT COME BACK ON WHEN I WOULD TURN OFF AND RESTART THE CAR. IT WAS VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE LIKE THAT. IT WOULD GO OUT AT ANY GIVEN SECOND AND ON TURNS. I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND ASKED THEM TO REPLACE THE MOTOR AGAIN SINCE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY BUT THEY WOULD NOT DO THAT BECAUSE THEY SAID THAT I NEEDED A STEERING COLUMN NOW. I HAD TO HAVE THE STEERING COLUMN REPLACED BECAUSE A SENSOR IN THE COLUMN HAD WENT OUT AND THIS COST ME MORE MONEY. I WAS VERY UPSET BECAUSE THAT COULD HAVE BEEN THE PROBLEM ALL ALONG AND I COULD HAVE HAD THAT FIXED IN THE BEGINNING AND NOT RISKED MY SAFETY WITH DRIVING AROUND WITH A CAR THAT?S STEERING GOES OUT. ALSO I COULD HAVE SAVED MONEY. I SPENT OVER $900 TO GET ALL OF THE STEERING REPLACED. ONE MONTH AFTER THE REPAIR, THE BRAKE LIGHTS BEGAN WORKING INTERMITTENTLY AGAIN. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DAGWOOD'S IN MOUNT PLEASANT, MI WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS UNFIXABLE. DAGWOOD'S CLAIMED THAT THEY COULD REPLACE THE SWITCH AND RE-CALIBRATE AGAIN, BUT THAT THERE WAS NO GUARANTEE THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD NOT RESUME IMMEDIATELY AFTER PULLING IT OFF THE LOT. THIS IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM, IN WHICH I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER FOR A COUPLE OF TIMES. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT A MATTER OF A SIMPLE "FIX-IT" TICKET SINCE THERE SEEMS TO BE NO POSSIBLE REPAIR. IT IS ALSO VERY DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. ACCORDING TO THEM, THE SENSOR AND SEAT CUSHION COMES AS A ONE UNIT AND BOTH NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE ESTIMATED COST OF PARTS AND LABOR WAS ABOUT $1500. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE FOR POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS, I REALIZED THAT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. BEEN A FEW TIMES THAT I PULLED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC INTO A PARKING LOT OR STREET AND HAD THE TRANS. HESITATE. NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. NOT SURE WHAT THE EXACT ISSUE IS BUT I'M NOT SHELLING OUT $4000 FOR A NEW TRANS. ON A CAR THAT ONLY HAS 42,000 MILES ON IT. DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR SOMETIMES. ESPECIALLY WHEN IT HAPPENS ON WET OR ICY ROADS AS THE TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGES AND THE WHEELS JUST SPIN LEAVING ME STUCK IN TRAFFIC UNTIL THEY FIND PURCHASE ENOUGH TO GET GOING. IF THIS VEHICLE HAD 95,000-100,000 ON THE ODOMETER I WOULD GET A NEW TRANS. BUT AS I STATED BEFORE WITH SUCH LOW MILES IT SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING. GM NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS. ALSO HAVE THE BRAKE LIGHTS THAT STAY ON THEN TURN OFF WHEN THE PEDAL GETS PRESSED. FIXED THAT 4 TIMES AND IT STILL HAPPENS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED WHEN THE GEAR WAS IN PARK. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS BEING DEPRESSED THE LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THE BRAKE SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE BRAKE SWITCH WAS REPLACED BY THE CONTACT BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO EXIST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
MY POWER STEERING BEGAN TO GO OUT. AT FIRST IT WOULD JUST GO OUT EVERY THREE TO FOUR DAYS AND THEN IT BEGAN TO GO OUT THREE TO FOUR TIMES EACH TIME I DROVE IT. IT WOULD GO OUT WHEN I WAS TURNING ON THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING. I WOULD HAVE TO PUT ON MY EMERGENCY BLINKERS, TURN OFF MY CAR, RE-START IT, AND BEGIN TO DRIVE AGAIN UNTIL IT WOULD GO OUT AGAIN AND I WOULD HAVE TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN. IT GOT TO THE POINT WHERE I FELT UNSAFE TO DRIVE MY CAR SO I HAD TO GET IT FIXED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT COST ME OVER SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS TO FIX THE STEERING MOTOR. IT TOOK THE DEALERSHIP OVER A WEEK AND A HALF TO FIX THE PROBLEM WHEN THEY SAID IT WOULD ONLY TAKE ABOUT THREE HOURS TO PUT THE NEW PART IN. I WAS WITHOUT A CAR FOR THAT WHOLE TIME AND WAS ALSO LEFT TO PAY THE LARGE PAYMENT. GM DID NOT OFFER MUCH CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE IN HELPING ME TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND MY WARRANTY FOR THE MOTOR I HAD TO PURCHASE IS ONLY FOR 12,000 MILES OR ONE YEAR. I AM FEARFUL THAT THE PART WILL GO OUT AGAIN AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY YET ANOTHER $600. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2006 MODEL OF MY CAR, AND, ALTHOUGH MY CAR WAS MADE IN JULY OF 2006, GM REFUSED TO PUT MY CAR ON RECALL BECAUSE THEY SAID THAT IT WAS CONSIDERED A 2006. I FIND THIS UNFAIR AND WRONG. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT COULD CAUSE MUCH HARM. GM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING THE PROBLEM AND ALSO FOR HELPING OUT THOSE PEOPLE WHO HAD TO FIX THE PROBLEM ON THEIR OWN. IT IS SCARY TO HAVE YOUR POWER STEERING GO OUT AND THE CHANCE OF GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF IT IS A SCARY THOUGHT ALSO. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 PONTIAC G6 SEDAN. LAST YEAR MY EXTERIOR BRAIKE LIGHTS WERE STRUCK ON. I HAD MY BRACK SWITCH REPLACED AND HAD THE BCM REPROGRAMMED. IT HAS NOT EVEN BEEN A YEAR AND NOW MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE STRUCK ON AGAIN. WHEN I'M DRIVING THE LIGHTS ARE ON AND WHEN I PUSH ON THE BRAKE THEY GO OFF.
