THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL ON THE BRAKE LIGHTS OF THE 2005-2006 G6 CARS, NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V036000. BUT THERE ARE A LOT OF OWNERS OF 2007 CARS THAT ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUES BUT WE CAN NOT GET THE FIXES APPLIED TO OUR CARS BECAUSE IT'S NOT COVERED IN THE RECALL DATES....YOU GUYS SHOULD REALLY THINK ABOUT THINGS BEFORE YOU RANDOMLY SLAP A DATE ON THINGS. I BOUGHT MY G6 IN DEC OF 2006, I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE SUNROOF, THE RIGHT SIDE HEADLIGHT WIRING MELTED, THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE COMING ON BY THEMSELVES AND WE ARE ON OUR THIRD ENGINE, WHICH THE DEALERSHIP SAID WAS BECAUSE WE DID NOT CHANGE THE OIL, BUT THEY DID THE OIL CHANGES. I AM TIRED OF POURING MONEY INTO THIS CRAPPY CAR, THE LEAST YOU GUYS COULD DO IS REALIZE THAT THERE WERE PROBABLY SOME OF THE SAME PARTS ON THE FLOOR WHEN THE NEXT YEARS MODELS WERE STARTED AND THE FIRST FEW MONTHS OF THE NEXT YEAR AFTER THEY CHANGED THE PARTS ARE MOST LIKELY GOING TO BE AFFECTED BY THE ISSUES AND SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED, AND HAVE SINCE HAD NOTHING BUT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH IT. I HAD THE WIRING HOUSING FOR MY HEADLIGHT REPLACED AND STILL HAVE ISSUES. MY BRAKE LIGHTS? WHERE DO I START? I HAVE HAD THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH REPLACED AT LEAST TWICE AND THEY STILL DO NOT WORK RIGHT. THEY WORK IN REVERSE MOST OF THE TIME. THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE I'M DRIVING, AND WHEN I STOP THEY TURN OFF, OR THEY JUST GO ON AND OFF AT WILL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE DIAGNOSIS WAS UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE EVEN THOUGH THE BRAKES WERE NOT ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 81,000.
MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE GETTING STUCK ON. THE ISSUE HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR, BUT NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. NOW EACH TIME I DRIVE THE CAR, MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE GETTING STUCK ON. WHEN I TAP THE BREAK, THE LIGHTS TURN OFF ALL TOGETHER. I AM GOING TO HAVE TO GET THIS REPAIRED SINCE I CAN BE TICKETED FOR THIS, AND/OR GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. FAULTY BRAKE SWITCH? THE ISSUE ALSO CAUSES A PROBLEM WITH MY CRUISE CONTROL TO REFUSE TO ENGAGE. *TR
THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL TURN THEMSELVES ON INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT YOUR FOOT ON THE PEDAL. THIS HAPPENS AT ALL DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED AND ALL PASSENGERS HAVE LEFT THE VEHICLE. TAPPING THE BRAKE WILL TURN THE LIGHTS OFF BUT SOMETIMES ONLY FOR A FEW SECONDS. I'VE TRIED LUBRICATING THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS ON THE BCM AND I'VE REPLACED THE BRAKE LIGHTS. BOTH FIXES ONLY WORKED TEMPORARILY. *TR
EXTERIOR BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE WHEN NOT PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. EXTERIOR BRAKE LIGHTS SHUT OFF WHEN PRESSING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. WHILE PARKED, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE MECHANIC STATED THERE WAS A POWER STEERING LEAK. THE POWER STEERING HOSE WAS REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THREE TIMES FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE POWER STEERING HOSE BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE BRAKE LIGHTS TURN ON WHEN THE PEDAL IS NOT DEPRESSED, CAUSING MOTORISTS BEHIND ME TO THINK I AM BRAKING. ALSO CAUSING THE CRUISE CONTROL TO NOT COME ON WHEN NEEDED. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND SINCE THERE IS ALREADY A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE WITH THE PREVIOUS YEAR, THE RECALL SHOULD BE MODIFIED TO INCLUDE THE 2007 MODEL YEAR. I HAVE DONE ALOT OF RESEARCH AND IT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH ALOT OF 2007 MODEL YEAR CARS. *TR
2007 PONTIAC G6. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO RECALL CONCERNING BRAKE LIGHTS DIELECTRIC GREASE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE NOTICED THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON, WHEN THE BRAKE WAS NOT BEING APPLIED, THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT ENGAGE AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO GET THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK. OTHER TIMES THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ON WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED. THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED RECALL# 09V036000 WHICH WAS ISSUED ON JAN 28, 2009 TO ADDRESS THE VERY SAME PROBLEM. THE RECALL WAS FOR THE 2005- 2006 AND NOT THE 2007 MODELS WHICH WERE BUILT IN LATE 2006. THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED BY APPLYING DIELECTRIC GREASE TO THE C-2 CONNECTOR, WHICH WAS THE VERY SAME FIX FOR THE RECALL. *JB
AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM A PREVIOUS OWNER, THE POWER STEERING WOULD LOCK ON ME AND I AM UNABLE TO STEER ANYMORE. THIS WOULD HAPPEN ANYWHERE FROM GOING 10MPH TO 70MPH. THE ONLY WAY THAT I COULD STEER AGAIN IS TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON AS I AM MOVING THE STEERING WHEEL TO UNLOCK IT. THANKFULLY I MANAGED TO PREVENT ANY ACCIDENTS BUT IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMETHING HAPPENS. I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS FIXED BUT FEW WEEKS LATER SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD BE DRIVING ON A MAIN ROAD AND RIGHT BEFORE I HAVE TO TURN IT LOCKS ON ME SO I HAVE TO TURN OFF THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD TO UNLOCK IT. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT IT. I CANNOT AFFORD TO KEEP SPENDING MONEY TO FIX THIS ISSUE. THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH A G5 AND THEY DID A RECALL ON IT. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THE SAME PROBLEM IS HAPPENING TO G6 NOW AND THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I CALLED GM SEVERAL TIMES BUT THEY SAID BECAUSE THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM MY 10 YEAR POWER TRAIN WARRANTY WONT COVER IT AND THEREFORE THEY WONT EVEN TAKE A LOOK AT IT (UNLESS I PAY OUT OF POCKET). NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY A GM CAR. *TR
BRAKES LIGHTS ILLUMINATE WHEN FOOT OFF PEDAL; BRAKES LIGHTS TURN OFF WHEN PUSHING BRAKE PEDAL. NOTICED ISSUE WHEN FIRST PURCHASED. DEALERSHIP INSTALLED A NEW BODY CONTROL MODULE. 2 YEAS LATER ISSUE HAS RETURNED. I HAVE APPLIED DIELECTRIC GEL TO BODY CONTROL MODULE PINS AND IT APPEARS TO OPERATE CORRECTLY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDDLE BEING PRESSED WHEN BRAKE PEDDLE PRESSED BRAKE LIGHTS GO OFF . I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED AT THE A TRAFFIC LIGHT . TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE BRAKE PEDAL PULSATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL AND TRACTION INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE CONTACT STATED THAT "ALL COMMUNICATIONS WERE LOST AND NO CODES WERE DETECTED". FURTHERMORE, THE CONVERTIBLE ROOF DID NOT CLOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BOWSER AUTOMOTIVE (412-469-2100, LOCATED AT 132-, 168 N LEWIS RUN RD, WEST MIFFLIN, PA 15122) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, BUT DID NOT FIND ANY CODES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO CURRENT RECALLS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED IN 2017 PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE RECENT FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 37,300.
I HAVE A 2007 G6 WITH 75,000 MILES ON IT AND EVERY-TIME I TRY TO BACK OR PULL OUT ON A PARKING LOT OR TURN MY CAR STALLS OUT AND THEIR IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE IT STALLS OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS AND WHEN I AM TURNING I ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE BREAK LIGHTS STAYING ON WHEN I AM DRIVING I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR-ENDED A FEW TIMES BECAUSE OF THIS. I ALSO NOTICE THAT THE CAR WILL KICK INTO GEAR AND JERK ITSELF WITHOUT WARNING THESE ARE ALL VERY SERIOUS ISSUES AND MAKE ME TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY CAR SO I WENT TO MY LOCAL GM DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THEIR ARE NO RECALLS FOR MY CAR BUT THEY CAN RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST FOR $118 AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY REPAIRS THAT NEED TO BE MADE BECAUSE THE WARRANTY WAS UP IN 2010 WHICH IS RIDICULOUS GM SHOULD RECALL THESE DEATH-TRAPS BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED AND THE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD FAIL TO ILLUMINATE. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BRAKE LIGHTS, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING , SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ETC) HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO PERFORM THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS MALFUNCTIONED AND WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED AND WHEN THE BRAKES WERE NOT BEING DEPRESSED, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD REMAIN ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE REAR BRAKES WERE RECALIBRATED AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. I CURRENTLY OWN A 2007 PONTIAC G6 SEDAN 4 CYLINDER. WHEN THE WEATHER GETS HOTTER AND TOWARDS THE SUMMER MONTHS, EVERY TIME I START UP THE CAR MAKE A TURN, I GET AN ILLUMINATION ON MY RADIO THAT READS "POWER STEERING" AND MY POWER STEERING SHUTS OFF, MAKING IT EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL AND NAVIGATE THE VEHICLE. MULTIPLE TIMES IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE TRYING TO TURN ONTO A BUSY ROAD, CAUSING NEAR ACCIDENTS DUE TO SUDDEN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. I HAVE CALLED THE PONTIAC DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY HAD HEARD NOTHING OF THIS ISSUE. FROM READING MANY ARTICLES ONLINE, I FIND THAT VERY HARD TO BELIEVE AND I THINK THIS IS AN ISSUE MANY PEOPLE WOULD LIKE TO BE SOLVED. THEY ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE G5 SERIES FOR POWER STEERING FAILURE, BUT NOT THE G6 WHICH SEEMS TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS. *TR

WHILE DRIVING A "POWER STEERING" MESSAGE WILL COME ACROSS AT INTERMITTENT TIMES. I HAVE BROUGHT IT IN AND THEY HAVE SAID THAT THERE IS SOMETHING(CANT REMEMBER THE EXACT PART) WITH THE STEERING COLUMN THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE NOT REPLACED THIS PART YET. I'M HOPING THAT THEY DO A RECALL ON THE PART LIKE THEY HAVE FOR OTHER VINS. ALSO WHILE DRIVING WHEN I TURN EITHER DIRECTION IT MAKES A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE. *TR
2007 PONTIAC G6 GT CONVERTIBLE. BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON UNTIL BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED THEN BRAKE LIGHTS GO OFF. I HAVE NEARLY BEEN REAR-ENDED SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE OF THIS. MY VEHICLES SYMPTOMS ARE IDENTICAL TO THE 2005-2006 G6'S THAT HAD A RECALL FOR THE PROBLEM. LOCAL GM DEALER STATED MY VEHICLE IS NOT ON RECALL AND ALL REPAIRS WILL BE BILLED. CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. *TR
PONTIAC 2007 G6 GT STARTED TO SHOW SIGNS OF ISSUES SHIFTING AUTOMATIC TRANS INTO PARK AROUND 50 THOUSAND MILES. THE ISSUE BECAME APPARENT WHEN I PUT MY SHIFTER INTO PARK AND PULLED MY KEYS OUT AND WENT TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND IT STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS AND ALMOST HIT TWO PEOPLE AND ANOTHER VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE WILL BE SHIFTED INTO PARK BUT ISN'T ACTUALLY IN PARK. I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT SUPPOSEDLY MY SHIFTER CABLE HAS STARTED TO "FALL APART" MY VEHICLE IS NOW AT 66 540 AND IT HAS BECOME TO THE POINT WHERE I AM FORCED TO HAVE THIS ISSUE FIXED BECAUSE THE SHIFTER CABLE IS COMPLETELY DESTROYED ALMOST. I AM UNDER THE BELIEF THAT THIS IS NOT ONLY A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN IF SOMEONE DOESN'T REALIZE THE CAR ISN'T IN PARK BUT IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT I AM ASKED TO PAY 400 DOLLARS FOR A REPAIR THAT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I HAVE REQUESTED FOR GM TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR AND THEY HAVE DENIED MY REQUEST BECAUSE THEY ARE ALREADY TRYING TO REPAIR THE FACT THAT MY AIRBAG'S DON'T WORK THAT I FILLED IN A SEPARATE COMPLAINT ON HERE. HUGE SAFETY ISSUE THAT ALMOST COST ME MY CAR AND COULD HAVE COST TWO PEOPLE THEIR LIVES OR AT LEAST THEIR MOBILITY. GM REFUSES TO ACCEPT THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE SHIFTER CABLE AND CLIP ON THE 2007 MODEL OF THE G6 AND NOT JUST THE 2009 THAT THEY CLAIM. THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE IS PRESENT IN THE 2009 G6 AND HAS BEEN RECALLED BUT NOT THE 2007. I AM REQUESTING THAT THIS BE INVESTIGATED FURTHER BECAUSE GM SHOULD BE PAYING FOR THESE REPAIRS... A PART STARTS TO FAIL 3 THOUSAND MILES AFTER I RECEIVE THE CAR AS "CERTIFIED" FROM GM. *TR

ON THE ABOVE DATE AND TIME I WAS DRIVING AND A POLICE OFFICER PULLED ME OVER AND TOLD ME THAT MY BRAKES WERE COMING ON WHEN I WAS DRIVING BUT WHEN I WAS STOPPING THEY WENT OFF I HAVE BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALER TO BE FIXED SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY ARE NOT FIXING IT THEY ARE CALIBRATING THE BRAKES AND PUTTING A BANDAID ON IT LASTS FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS THEN RIGHT BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS I HAVE CALLED PONTIAC AND THEY JUST KEEP TELLING US TO BRING IT IN I WENT ONLINE AND THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THIS CAR I UNDERSTAND THEY ARE FROM 2005-07 THAT THE ISSUES ARE OCCURRING ACCORDING TO THE INFORMATION I READ ON THE PROBLEM. IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED AND BELIEVE THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED THEY KNOW ITS A MALFUNCTION AND THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE INSTEAD OF NICKELING AND DIMMING THEIR CUSTOMERS JUST TO NOT GET THE PROBLEM SOLVED. MY DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT ON 2/3/11 AT 56,000 MILES. I REPLACED THE BULB. ON 8/22/11, MY PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AT 60,000 MILES. I REPLACED THE BULB. ON 9/26/11, MY DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AT 61,000 MILES. I REPLACED THE BULB. I PURCHASED THE BULB FROM AUTO ZONE AND THE MANAGER THERE TOLD ME HE HAS HAD 10 CUSTOMERS WITH PONTIAC G6 VEHICLES COME IN REPORTING THAT THE HEADLIGHT BULBS CONTINUALLY GO OUT. ON 10/1/11, THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN AT 61,300 MILES. ON 10/4/11, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AT 61,400 MILES. I CALLED PONTIAC CORPORATE AND THEY CLAIM THIS IS NOT A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO FIRESTONE AND THEY FOUND A SHORT IN THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE WORKING FINE NOW. FIRESTONE SAID THIS IS THE 3RD PONTIAC G6 THEY HAVE REPAIRED WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. IN ADDITION, I HAVE BEEN STOPPED BY THE POLICE TWICE FOR HAVING MY HEADLIGHT OUT. BOTH TIMES I WAS NOT AWARE THAT THE HEADLIGHT WAS OUT. I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. IF OR WHEN THERE IS A RECALL, I'D LIKE PONTIAC TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE REPAIR. *TR

HE STATED THAT THE LIGHT FLICKERED APPROXIMATELY 5 TO 6 TIMES AND THEN IT SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSIDE OF THE HEADLIGHT WAS BURNT AND MELTED. HE CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY OFFERED HIM NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,050.
I HAVE HAD MY 2007 PONTIAC G6 GT FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS AND I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH IT. THE MAIN SAFETY CONCERN I HAVE IS MY BRAKE LIGHTS WILL INTERMITTENTLY FLICKER ON AND OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING IT WHETHER I PRESS IN THE BRAKES OR NOW. THIS CAUSES THE CRUISE CONTROL NOT TO WORK AS WELL AS THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ACTIVATED WHEN YOU PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL IN. I HAVE HAD THE BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH REPLACED BUT THAT ONLY CEASED THE PROBLEM FOR A FEW DAYS. I HAVE HAD PEOPLE PULL OVER BECAUSE THEY THINK I'M BRAKING FOR A DEER WHEN I'M NOT. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN NUMEROUS ACCIDENT ESPECIALLY IN WINTER WHEN THE ROADS ARE BAD AND MY BRAKE LIGHTS WILL STAY ON CAUSING THE DRIVER BEHIND ME TO BRAKE WHEN THERE IS NOW NEED TO. THANK GOD I DON'T HAVE CHILDREN BECAUSE THIS IS A HUGE ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION AND SAFETY HAZARD. THE OTHER MAIN PROBLEM I HAVE IS MY PANORAMIC ROOF NO LONGER WORKS. IT WILL OPEN ABOUT A HALF AN INCH AND WILL GET STUCK. I BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR THAT MAIN FEATURE AND IT WAS VERY EXPENSIVE WITH A PANORAMIC ROOF. MY WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER ANY OF THESE EXPENSES BECAUSE I HAVE 40,000 MILES ON MY CAR. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AS I BELIEVE PONTIAC SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A MALFUNCTION SUCH AS THESE TWO. MUCH ROOF ALSO MAKES A LOT OF NOISE IN WHICH I DIDN'T REALIZE BECAUSE NOW IT IS CLOSED ALL THE TIME AND WAS USUALLY OPEN BEFORE THIS. I WILL NEVER BUY A PONTIAC VEHICLE AGAIN. I BOUGHT MY 2007 PONTIAC G6 IN AUGUST, 2007. LESS THAN THREE YEARS LATER I HAD TO HAVE THE BRAKE PADS, ROTORS AND CALIPERS REPLACED ALL THE WAY AROUND. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 124,000.
2007 PONTIAC G6, 77,000 MILES. THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE A LOT. THEN I NOTICE WHEN YOU SLIGHTLY TURN THE WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT IT KNOCKS. I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING POWER STEERING WARNINGS ON MY DASH. WHEN THIS HAPPENS I TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT, THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY THEN RESTARTS AGAIN. I DON'T KNOW WHY THE 2007 G6 WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. I'VE NOTICE A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ON G6 CAR WEBSITES HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. SURELY THIS IS A RECALL. IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE. HAPPENS SPORADICALLY. BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE ILLUMINATED WHEN RUNNING AND IN PARK WITH NOBODY IN THE VEHICLE. I CAN TELL WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON DURING THE DAY IF I AM ON THE HIGHWAY TRYING TO USE THE CRUISE CONTROL, IF IT DOESN'T ENGAGE THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON. AT NIGHT WHEN THERE IS NOBODY BEHIND ME I CAN SEE THE BRIGHT REFLECTION IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR IF THE BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE ILLUMINATED ON THERE OWN. THE DRIVER SEAT BELT BUCKLE WILL NOT REGISTER THAT THE SEAT BELT IS LOCKED IN PLACE. THIS CAUSES THE LIGHT ON THE DASH TO CONSTANTLY BE ON AND THE BEEPING SOUND TO CONTINUE. MY PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAMS WERE BURNING OUT, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER IN DEC (2010), ONE YEAR LATER, IT'S BACK. I NOTICED THE CONNECTION WAS COMPLETELY SHORTED AND BURNT. PROB WON'T LAST MUCH LONGER. THIS PAST AUG (2011) MY FUEL PUMP STARTED LEAKING FUEL, IT WAS THE ASSEMBLY WHICH HAD A HAIRLINE FRACTURE WHICH WAS UNREPAIRABLE, HAD TO REPLACE THE COMPLETE ASSEMBLY FOR $350. FOR THE LAST COUPLE YEARS MY STEERING DOES A POPPING SOUND AND FEEL WHEN I MAKE SLOW SHARP TURNS (AS IN U-TURNS). THE DEALER TEMPORARY FIXED IT ONCE, BUT IT RETURNED BEFORE I COULD EVEN FORGET ABOUT IT. THEIR SOLUTION WAS GREASING THE STEERING JOINT. MY AC/HEATING FAN WAS MAKING A TICKING SOUND WHILE IT WAS ON A COUPLE YEARS BACK (AROUND NOV 2009), THE DEALER FIXED THE TICKING BUT IT RETURNED LAST YEAR. THOUGH IT'S NOT AS LOUD OR ANNOYING AS BEFORE I'VE LEARNED TO TUNE IT OUT, NOT TOO FUN FOR MY PASSENGERS THOUGH. *TR
ADVISED BY A FELLOW MOTORIST THAT I WAS "RIDING MY BRAKES" AROUND THE END OF 2010 WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 77 THROUGH VERY HILLY TERRAIN. NOT UNDERSTANDING WHAT HE MEANT AS I WAS CLEARLY NOT RIDING MY BRAKES IN THE NORMAL SENSE BUT MAYBE HAD TAPPED THEM ONCE OR TWICE TO SLOW DOWN GOING DOWN HILL, I DISMISSED THIS AND FIGURED HE WAS ANGRY. END OF 2011/EARLY 2012 ADVISED BY A FRIEND THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ALWAYS ON WHILE SHE FOLLOWED ME AND WE SPOKE ON THE PHONE. I DISCOVERED THROUGH THIS CONVERSATION THAT THEY WOULD GO OFF WHEN I ACTUALLY PRESSED THE BRAKE. TOOK THIS TO A CERTIFIED GM MECHANIC WHO COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I ADVISED THEM OF THE SERVICE BULLETIN WHICH HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR THE 2006 MODEL YEAR OF MY VEHICLE THAT INDICATED THIS SAME PROBLEM AND SHOWED A FIX FOR IT. THEY FIXED IT ACCORDING TO THAT BULLETIN AND IT SEEMED TO WORK AT THE TIME. JULY 2013, DISCOVERED WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT ON A SIDE ROAD (COULD SEE THE STREET SIGNS ILLUMINATE BEHIND ME AS I PASSED THEM) THAT ONCE AGAIN THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE WORKING IN REVERSE, THEY WERE ON WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND WOULD GO OFF WHEN I BRAKE. TOOK IT BACK TO THE SAME GM MECHANIC WHO HAD TEMPORARILY FIXED IT THE FIRST TIME. THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR AS THEY FOUND THAT TO BE READING INCORRECTLY AT TIMES AND RELEASED THE CAR BACK TO ME ADVISING THAT IT WAS WORKING AT THAT TIME. THE DAY AFTER I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC, I HAD A FRIEND FOLLOWED ME TO CONFIRM THAT IT WAS FIXED. I WAS ADVISED BY MY FRIEND WHILE AGAIN TALKING ON THE PHONE TO HIM THAT THIS DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE AS I WOULD TELL HIM WHEN I WAS BRAKING AND HE WOULD TELL ME WHAT HE SAW. I AM CURRENTLY STILL DRIVING WITH MY BRAKES WORKING IN REVERSE. TAKING IT BACK TO THE SAME GM MECHANIC TO SEE IF THEY CAN FIX THIS FOR GOOD. *TR
THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED 2 DAYS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. FAST FORWARD TO PRESENT DAY AND DIAGNOSTIC TEST ARE TELLING ME THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 135,000 MILES BUT HAS HAD REGULAR OIL CHANGES. SPARK PLUGS AND THE INTAKE CAM ACTUATOR SOLENOID WERE REPLACED ON 8/5/2013 WHERE I WAS INFORMED THAT THE P0420 CODE WAS COMING BACK WHICH IS THE CODE FOR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I THOUGHT THE MECHANIC WAS JUST TRYING TO RIP ME OFF BUT THE CAR HAS NO POWER NOW AND I'VE GOTTEN SEVERAL SECOND OPINIONS. GM SAYS THAT THE RECALL FOR THIS PART WAS AT 120,000 MILES, HOWEVER I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF A RECALL AND I'VE HAD THE CAR 3 YEARS. THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE RECALL NOW. *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,710 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,723.
I OWN A 2007 PONTIAC G6 (BOUGHT AS NEW IN JULY 2007). THE STEERING COLUMN IS MAKING VERY LOAD CLUNKING NOISES WHEN TURNED AT A STOP OR AT LOW SPEEDS. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THE STEERING WILL FAIL WHILE DRIVING.
