WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING AND AT SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY, INTERSTATE, OR STREET OCCASIONALLY THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF CAUSING NO LIGHTS IF OPERATING AT NIGHT TIME AND NO POWER STEERING AND GAUGE CLUSTER IS ALSO OFF. AFTER PULLING OVER AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE AND JIGGLING THE IGNITION KEY AND TURNING IGNITION KEY TO START THE VEHICLE THEN IT WILL START AND RUN NORMALLY UNTIL THE NEXT INCIDENT ACCRUES. I HAVE FOUND THAT THE IGNITION ON THESE PARTICULAR VEHICLES GO BAD FOR WHATEVER REASON AND LOSE CONTACT WHICH TURNS THE VEHICLE OFF WHILE DRIVING AT ANYTIME. ON MY VEHICLE IT DOESN'T ACCRUE ALL THE TIME BUT ENOUGH TO MAKE IT VERY UNSAFE. MY VEHICLE JUST TURNED 59,000 MILES AND HAVEN'T HAD ANY ISSUES UNTIL NOW.
WITH THE COLD WEATHER, IT'S NOT CRANKING. I HAD A NEW BATTERY AND STARTER INSTALLED AND IT STILL DOESN'T CRANK UNLESS IT'S IN NEUTRAL AND I PRESS THE FUEL PEDDLE. IF IT SETS FOR TOO LONG IN COLD, I HAVE TO REPEAT THE PROCESS AND NO LONGER AM ABLE TO USE REMOTE START AND SOMETIMES HAVE TO BE JUMPED OFF.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON AND MY HORN OR CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK. NOT SURE IF I GOT IN AN ACCIDENT THAT MY AIR BAG WOULD ACTUALLY DEPLOY.. THINKING IT IS A CLOCK SPRING ISSUE.. HAD A RECALL ON MY 2011 WRANGLER AND SAME THING WAS HAPPENING TO THAT VEHICLE ALSO..THIS HAPPENED RIGHT AFTER I STARTED THE VEHICLE AFTER WORK TODAY.
POWER WINDOWS WORKED WEN THEY WANTED TO . WHILE DRIVING ALL WARNING LIGHTS WOULD FLASH ON IN THE CLUSTER LIKE I TURNED THE KEY OFF THEN ON . TRUCK KEPT RUNNING . STARTED GETTING HARD TO START . ONCE LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING LIKE IT WAS RUNNING OUT OF GAS . NOW IT DOESN'T START AT ALL . HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE TIPM . I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE RAM TRUCKS .
THE FUEL PUMP REMAINS RUNNING AFTER VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF.
ALONG WITH MANY OTHER PEOPLE WHO OWN THE SAME MODEL OF TRUCK I HAVE EVERYONE HAS SEEMED TO COME ACROSS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE CAMSHAFT AND LIFTERS CAUSING EVERY CAR PLACE IN MY STATE TO BE OUT OF THE PARTS TO FIX IT. I NOTICED THE TRUCK WAS HAVING A HARD TIME SHIFTING AND ACTING WEIRD SO I BROUGHT IT IN TO GET CODED AND WHEN IT WAS GETTING CODED I WAS TOLD BY THE TECH THAT THE 7TH CYLINDER WAS OUT ALONG WITH ISSUES WITH THE CAMSHAFT AND HE HAS SEEN IT IN AN ALARMING AMOUNT OF TRUCKS. SO MUCH THAT THEY COULDN'T GET HANDS ON THE PARTS TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. UPON LOOKING ONLINE THIS IS INDEED A HUGE ISSUE IN HEMI 5.7 ENGINES MANUFACTURED AFTER 2010.
MY 2012 RAM 1500 IS EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE WIN MODULE AND WILL SHUT OFF AT ANY GIVEN TIME. IT WILL SOMETIMES NOT START AND IT HAS DIED ON ME ON THE INTERSTATE RUNNING 55MPH+. THE WIN MODULE HAS BEEN RECALLED ON OTHER MODELS OF CHRYSLER DODGE MODELS BUT NOT THE RAM. IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE OFTEN TIMES I HAVE MY CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE AND I LOOSE STEERING WHEN IT SHUTS OFF. I'VE READ IN NUMEROUS FORUMS AND TALKED WITH OTHER WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AND HAVE GOTTEN NO WHERE WITH GETTING IT FIXED. I WOULD LIKE THIS SAFETY ISSUE TO BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE ME AND MY CHILDREN OR SOMEONE ELSE IS SEVERELY INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS SIMPLE YET VERY EXPENSIVE FIX AT OWNERS COST.
My 2012 Dodge developed an engine issue at 129,000 miles. The issue was rough idling and no acceleration. I took it to a Dodge dealer. They diagnosed it as a chronic cam issue with this generation Chrysler hemi engine. I had the cam and replaced at Waldorf Dodge. The cost was at $3400. I believe this is a known problem and Dodge is aware of exactly why it happens. Lack of oil pressure to two of the cylinders that are dropped while driving for fuel economy. This should be Dodge problem not the consumer. I take excellent care of my vehicles. I also have a 2004 Dodge truck but that’s over 450,000 miles on it same engine same transmission.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 RAM 2500. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HER SON WAS DRIVING 25 MPH, HE HEARD AN ABNORMAL SOUND AND PARKED THE VEHICLE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE DRIVER STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE DRIVER STATED WHILE EXAMINING THE VEHICLE, HE SAW THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIE ROD DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MEND THE TIE ROD AND DRIVE TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER MOREHART MURPHY REGIONAL AUTO CENTER (31 PARKER AVE, DURANGO, CO 81303, (970) 247-2121) AND MADE THE DEALER AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED HER SON REPAIRED THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIE ROD AND STEERING LINKAGE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V350000 (STEERING) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 170,00.
2012 DODGE RAM 1500 HEMI STALLS WHILE DRIVING, STOPPING AT RED LIGHT, OR TURNING. VERY DANGEROUS. THEN WON'T START, WHEN IT DOES START IT DIES INSTANTLY. FUEL PUMP ISSUE. TIPM ISSUE. DEALERSHIP EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY KIT REQUIRES CUTTING WIRES UNDER THE TIPM. DEALERSHIP WILL REPLACE TIPM FOR ABOUT $1500 IT IS A DODGE ISSUE SHOULD HAVE A RECALL. TRUCK SITTING IN DRIVEWAY, PAYING INSURANCE ON A TRUCK THAT WON'T START. ONLY 80,000 MILES, CHRYSLER DODGE VEHICLES FREQUENTLY HAVE THIS ISSUE. PLEASE RECALL THEM. THANKS CAN NOT EVER IMAGINE BUYING A DODGE AGAIN.
ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS STARTED TO MALFUNCTION OR NOT WORK. DRIVER SIDE LOCK, RADIO, POWER TO ENGINE STALLING. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS THE RELAY FUSE COMPARTMENT UNDER THE HOOD.
EXHAUSTED MANIFOLD ON DRIVER SIDE MAKING LOUD NOISE, TOTALLY DEFECTIVE COMPONENT

ENGINE MAKING TICKING NOISE ON PASSENGER SIDE OF ENGINE. TICKING GOES AWAY AFTER IT WARMS UP.
THE PASSENGER SIDE HEAD LIGHT GOES OFF AND ON PERIODICALLY SOMETIMES WHEN YOUR DRIVING DONE THE ROAD IT FLICKERS AND GOES OFF WE HAVE TRIED REPLACEMENTS PARTS AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUES
VEHICLE HAS 138,358 MILES AND HAS HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE. HOWEVER, THE CAM SHAFT HAS WORN AND ROCKER ARM HAS BECOME LOOSE AND IS CAUSING CYLINDER 5 TO MISFIRE (P0305). THIS FAILURE HAS CAUSED THE TRUCK TO LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY OR TIMES OF ACCELERATION TO CROSS TRAFFIC OR CLIMB STEEP ROAD GRADES. INITIAL INVESTIGATION BY AUTO MECHANIC STATES THAT CAM SHAFT AND ROCKER ARM NEED REPLACING. ADDITIONAL INVESTIGATION IS NEEDED TO SEE IF VALVLES ARE DETERIORATING AND NEED REPLACING.
I AM CURIOUS ABOUT RECALL U04. IT HAS TO DO WITH THE SLOT CORRODING THAT HOLDS THE FROM OF THE GAS TANK. MINE HAS CORRODED AND DROPPED THE GAS TANK, I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE RECALL CLEARLY STATES IF THE VEHICLE WAS REGISTERED IN MARYLAND AT ANYTIME THAT THE RECALL APPLIES. THIS IS DEFINITELY THE PROBLEM WITH MY TRUCK AS THE SLOT HAS CORRODED AND THE STRAP CAME DOWN DROPPING MY TANK. I WOULD SOMEHOW LIKE TO GET MY TRUCK ON THE RECALL SINCE IT CLEARLY FITS THE RECALL DESCRIPTION. THE CHRYSLER RECALL REFERENCE IS U04. WHEN I PUT IN MY VIN THIS RECALL COMES UP BUT I WAS TOLD BY CHRYSLER RECALL SERVICE MY VIN IS NOT LISTED. THE NUMBER I CALLED WAS 1-800-853-1403. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH WHEN MY GAS TANK DROPPED. I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE AT CARMAX IN MARYLAND
MY AIR BAG WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE SEAT HAS BEEN CUT DUE TO THE SEAT BEING MOVED BACK AND FORTH. THE HARNESS WAS ROUTED ABOVE THE TRACK ON THE SEAT AND OVER TIME IT GOT CUT AND OR UNPLUGGED AS THE WIRE WAS TOO SHORT. I HAVE TO HAVE THE WHOLE SYSTEM REPLACED IN ORDER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THERE HAS BEEN 7 DIFFERENT EMAILS SENT TO CHRYSLER DODGE IN MICHIGAN WITH A COUPLE OF RETURN RESPONSES. I HAVE PAID OUT OF POCKET AND TIME TO HAVE THIS ISSUE TRY TO BE RESOLVED ON LOCAL LEVEL AND NOW IT HAS GONE FAR BEYOND WHAT I CAN DO AND NEEDS TO BE ESCALATED AS THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM. THE AIR BAG HARNESS NOT BEING CONNECTED WILL CAUSE IT NOT TO DEPLOY DURING AN ACCIDENT OR MAYBE MALFUNCTION AND DEPLOY DURING DRIVING. THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND NEEDS TO BE HANDLED. *LN *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) FAILED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. A DEALER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT NO RECALL WAS ON THE VIN. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE RECURRING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V530000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 183,500.
LIFTERS ON TRUCKAND CAMSHAFT FAILED CAUSING LOSS OF POWER AND MISFIRE.TRICK HAS ABOUT 115,000 MILES ON THERE NOW. HAD NO POWER OFF THE LINE ON THE HIGHWAY.
DRIVING ALONG AND TRUCK TURNS OFF BY ITSELF 3-5 SECONDS THEN ENGINE RESTARTS BY ITSELF. I'M WORRIED IT'S GONNA CAUSE ME TO GET INTO AND ACCIDENT. DODGE HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM ACROSS A LOT OF YEARS WITH NO RECALL FOR MY TRUCK.
THE FUEL PUMP RUNS CONTINUOUSLY WHILE THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF WITH NO KEY IN THE IGNITION. THIS CAUSES THE BATTERY TO DIE AND USUALLY LEAVES ME STRANDED. THERE IS ALSO AN ISSUE WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL. THIS FEATURE IS DESIGNED TO NOT LET THE VEHICLES REAR WHEELS SPIN OUT OF RATIO, WHICH BASICALLY STOPS THE REAR TIRES FROM SPINNING OUT. HOWEVER, IT SENDS FALSE SIGNALS THAT THEY ARE IT STALLS THE VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN TBONED SEVERAL TIMES TO DUE THE TRUCK STALLING AND LEAVING ME A SITTING DUCK TO INCOMING TRAFFIC. LASTLY, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON, LEAVING ME TO BELIEVE IT'S ALSO RECEIVING FALSE SIGNALS. HOPEFULLY THEY DO NOT DEPLOY WHILE I'M DRIVING. IF THEY DO AND I LIVE, I'LL BE BACK TO TELL YOU ABOUT IT. AFTER DOING A LOT OF RESEARCH, ALL OF THESE ISSUES SEEM TO BE RELATED TO A BAD TIPM. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MAJOR ISSUE ON THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES PRODUCED BY CHRYSLER AND SOME MODELS HAVE ALREADY BEEN RECALLED AFTER A LAWSUIT. IN MY OPINION THESE ISSUES COULD RESULT IN BODILY INJURY OR DEATH, AND A SAFETY RECALL SHOULD NOT BE DENIED.
THE DASHBOARD BEZEL ALARMS WHEN DRIVING THE TRUCK ON THE HIGHWAY ALL ALARM LIGHTS COME ON AT THE SAME TIME . ALL GAUGES GO TO ZERO ,THE TRUCK IS STILL BEING DRIVEN.SPEEDOMETER STILL WORKS .MIL LIGHT COMES ON CODE SAYS LOSS OF COMMUNICATION FROM WIN MODULE TO PCM. I STOP TRUCK TURN KEY TO OFF AND RESTART AND THE ALARMS GO AWAY AND MIL CODE STAYS.HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIME OVER A PERIOD OF A MONTH.
WILL LOOKING UNDER THE BOTTOM OF MY TRUCK I NOTICED THE FUEL TANK SAGGING. FURTHER INSPECTION SHOWED THAT THE FRONT BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE FUEL TANK UP IS HANGING DOWN. THE T SLOT THAT HOLDS THE BRAVE IS RUSTED AND WILL NOT HOLD THE BRACKET IN. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION FOUND U04 RECALL. CONTACTED DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TRUCK DOES NOT MEET THE RECALL. EVEN THOUGH IT IS A 2012 DODGE RAM 1500 BUILT AT THE SALTILLO PLANT IN MEXICO ON 9/10/2011 AND WAS REGISTERED AND DRIVEN IN WEST VIRGINIA (SALT BELT STATE).*DT*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THE GASOLINE LEAKED FROM THE FUEL TANK WHILE REFUELING. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, WAS UNABLE TO FIND THE LOCATION OF THE FUEL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. NEUWIRTH MOTORS (219 COLLEGE RD, WILMINGTON, NC 28403) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 89,000.
THE SERVICE 4WD LIGHT COMES ON AND THE TRUCK MAKES A WEIRD NOISE AND IT HAS THE RIGHT FLUID IN THE TRANSFER CASE AND THE DIFFERENTIALS ARE ALL GOOD BUT WHENEVER THE FULL SERVICE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT COMES ON THE TRUCK MAKES UP FUNNY GRINDING IN A RED UP ON THE INTERNET AND NOBODY KNOWS WHY AND THERE'S A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM I AM.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE REMOVED THE COUPLINGS FROM THE BRAKE LINES AND CONTACTED WHITTEN BROTHERS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM OF MIDLOTHIAN (10701 MIDLOTHIAN TURNPIKE, RICHMOND, VA 23235) TO PURCHASE NEW COUPLINGS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPLACEMENT COUPLINGS WERE NO LONGER BEING MANUFACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND RECOMMENDED THAT THE CONTACT GO TO A JUNK YARD TO RETRIEVE THE PARTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 88,000.*DT CONSUMER STATED INSTALLATION OF AIRBAG WAS SCHEDULED AUG 8TH,2020.*JB
DISCOVER COOLANT SOAKED INTERIOR FLOORBOARD ON PASSENGER SIDE. TRUCK BEGAN OVER HEATING WHILE DRIVING SHORT DISTANCE (I.E., 5-10 MILES DOWN THE ROAD) AND UPON ACCELERATION TO HIGHWAY REGULATION SPEEDS. BELIEVED TO BE PROBLEM WITH HEATER CORE IN ENGINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL RATTLING NOISE DETECTED AND NOTICED THE SPRINGS WERE FRACTURED ON THE REAR AXLE. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,000.
I WAS DRIVING AT 70MPH AND MY TRUCK SUDDENLY WENT INTO 4TH MANUAL GEAR FROM AUTOMATIC. WHEN I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT ON A SLOPE, THE TRUCK ROLLED BACK AND REVVED UP VERY HIGH, AND ROLLED BACKWARDS, ALMOST HITTING THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT GO BACK INTO AUTOMATIC DRIVE. WHEN I GOT HOME I SHUT MY TRUCK OFF FOR ABOUT 10MIN.S. I RESTARTED IT AND IT WOULD NOT GO INTO DRIVE, ONLY THE 4TH MANUAL GEAR WOULD DISPLAY WHEN I PUT IT INTO DRIVE. AFTER FURTHER INTERNET RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED THE MODE THAT IT WAS IN WAS CALLED "LIMP MODE". AFTER DURING FURTHER RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED THAT IT WAS A COMMON ISSUE FOR MY BRAND OF TRUCK. I THINK THIS IS A RECALL ISSUE AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY BY THE DEALER OR MANUFACTURER.
Starting around 2020 when I moved to the new house and I constantly had to make a slow left turn underneath this underpass. I noticed that it would die every time. And I started noticing that it was a pattern because I have the blinker on the brake pressed and I turn the wheel the left that’s when it would die every time and I’ve had the gas pedal off I wouldn’t be giving any gas. I looked it up in several people have been having this issue since 2009 on all dodge trucks. Yes has put me in the ditch a few times I almost got hit a couple of times the probability and statistics are going to catch up and I can guarantee you I’m certain that somebody has had an accident because of this.
IT WAS BELOW 25 DEGREES WHEN I GOT UP THIS MORNING SO THE WINDOW HAD ICE ON IT. I STARTED MY TRUCK TO DEFROST THE WINDOW. I OPENED THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR TO PUT MY BAG IN AND WHEN I CLOSED THE DOOR THE AIRBAG WENT OFF. I SEE OTHER TRUCKS SAME MAKE AND MODEL AND YEAR HAVE HAD ISSUES BUT MY VIN SAYS THAT THERE IS NOT AN AIRBAG ISSUE WITH MY TRUCK. I BEG TO DIFFER; SO NOW IT WILL COST $1100 TO FIX IT AND I AM WORRIED THAT THE OTHER AIRBAGS WILL DEPLOY WITH ME DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE.
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 TO 35 MPH, TRUCK LOSES POWER AND GOES TO IDLE FOR 5 TO 15 SECONDS THEN RESUMES POWER. VERY SCARY IN TRAFFIC.
IN THE MORNING WHILE STARTING TRUCK NO PROBLEM, ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE DRIVING ON STREET THE TRUCK JUST TURNED OFF. IT HAD HAPPENED BEFORE ON 3 OTHER OCCASIONS BUT THE FIRST ONE WAS FAR APART THEN THE OTHER 2 IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS. WHEN I GOT ON THE FREEWAY I NOTICED A HAD TO PUSH HARDER ON THE GAS PEDAL TO GAIN SPEED BUT IT FELT LIKE IT WAS HARD TO PRESS ON AND I WASN'T GETTING TO THE SPEED (60MPH) SO I JUST TOOK IT SLOWLY TO GAIN SPEED. SO I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC TO GET A BASIC TUNE UP SINCE I HAD JUST GOTTEN AN OIL CHANGE HE WOULD JUST DO SPARK PLUGS ON3/5/20 TO SEE IF IT WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM. AFTER EXPLAINING TO HIM WHAT IT WAS DOING HE TOLD ME RIGHT AWAY THAT IT'S PROBABLY THE CAMSHAFT AND HYDRAULIC LIFTERS WORN OUT WITH MY TRUCK MILEAGE OF 108,000 IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE BECAUSE I ALWAYS MAKE SURE MY TRUCK IS UP TO DATE WITH EVERYTHING. BY THIS TIME NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD TURNED ON. SO I DROVE IT ANOTHER WEEK AND HALF WITH THE SAME ISSUES; FINALLY ON 3/16/20 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AND I TOOK IT TO GET IT CHECKED AT AUTOZONE AND OREILYS AND BOTH COMPUTER FINDING WERE CODE P0385 WHICH IS A MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 5 WHICH IS HYDRAULIC LIFTER, CAMSHAFT, AND POSSIBLE IGNITION COIL GONE BAD. I DECIDED TO NOT USE MY TRUCK UNTIL I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC WHICH I DID ON 03/24/20. HIS FINDING WERE THE WORN OUT CAMSHAFT AND HYDRAULIC LIFTER ON CYLINDER 5. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND OF COURSE THERE IS A LOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT STARTS WITH TRUCKS FROM 2011 AND SOME WITH ONLY OF 58,000 MILES. THIS IS VERY COSTLY TO REPAIR WHEN YOU EXPECT A TRUCK TO LAST A LONG TIME ESPECIALLY IF YOU TAKE CARE OF IT.
I NOTICED THAT THERE IS A TICKING SOUND FROM THE ENGINE BAY. THE SOUND STOPS AFTER THE ENGINE WARMS SLIGHTLY. FROM THE INFORMATION I HAVE, THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS HAVE BROKEN AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE SEAL FOR THE EXHAUST IS NOW COMPROMISED THUS POSSIBLY HAVING AN EXHAUST LEAK. I UNDERSTAND FROM OTHER OWNERS THE ISSUE RETURNS EVEN AFTER REPAIRED. FCA ISSUED A TSB FOR THIS ISSUE (TSB 11-002-11).
ON MONDAY FEBRUARY 17, 2020 I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND WHILE AT THE STOP LIGHT MY TRUCK JUST CUT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE KEY A FEW TIMES AND IT STARTED BACK UP. I THEN STOPPED BY WHATABURGER THAT SAME NIGHT AND IT DID IT AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TUESDAY AFTERNOON. TODAY WE WERE TOLD THAT IT IS THE WIRELESS IGNITION NODE (WIN) THAT IS BAD. I UNDERSTAND THERE TO BE AN EXISTING SAFETY RECALL FOR THIS EXACT WIN MODULE BUT IT DOES NOT COVER OUR 2012 DODGE RAM PICKUP. I AM REQUESTING THAT YOU ADD THIS VEHICLE TO THE SAFETY RECALL AND THAT IT BE COVERED BY THE DEALERSHIP. BASED ON RECALL R03/NHTSA 14V-373 IT IS A KNOWN FAULTY MODULE.

THE ENGINE COOLING HAS A BAD DESIGN FOR THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS SO 2 BOLTS ON EACH SIDE BROKE OFF IN THE ENGINE BLOCK AND NOW THERE IS LARGE EXHAUST LEAKS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ENGINE. RAM 1500 EXPRESS 2012, LACK OF CABIN AIR FILTER CAUSES DIRT TO ACCUMULATE IN THE A/C EVAPORATOR CORE, WICH COMBINED WITH THE MOISTURE CAUSED BY THE NORMAL USE OF THE A/C CAUSED ACCELERATED CORROSION IN THE EVAPORATOR CORE CAUSING A/C GASES LEAK INSIDE THE CABIN WICH WENT TO THE ATMOSPHERE. ITS A DESIGN FLAW FOR WICH I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE IF THERES A RECALL FOR AND RECIVED A NEGATIVE ANSWER, I HAD TO PAY 402 DOLLARS TO BUY A REPLACEMENT AND 33 DOLLAR MODIFICATION KIT TO ADD A CABIN FILTER. THE GAS LEAK OCCURRED WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO A TOOL STORE TO GET TOOLS FOR MY JOB AND HEARD SOME NOISE LIKE A LEAK AND FELT DIZZY SO I WENT AHEAD AND OPENED THE WINDOWS TO BREATH FRESH AIR BECAUSE THE GAS LEAK MADE ME FEEL SICK SO I DAD TO STOP, ALL FREON LEAKED WITHIN MINUTES. I APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO FIX THIS KNOWN ISSUE BECAUSE AFTER LOOKING ONLINE FOR AIR FILTERS FOR THAT YEAR WICH BY DESIGN DON'T HAVE IT I WAS SHOWN MODIFICATION KITS FROM A LOT OF DIFERENT SITES SO ITS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE WICH I FEEL THAT NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF. THE LOCAL DEALER RANDALL FORD LOCATED AT 5500 ROGERS AVE, FORT SMITH, AR 72903, SENT A REPRESENTATIVE TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CAMSHAFT, LIFTERS, CYLINDER, WATER PUMP CASE AND EXHAUST MANIFOLD GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
Complete engine failure caused by lifters sticking due to lack of lubrication which is a well known problem with the hemi engines. It occurred in my case at approximately 140,000 kilometres despite being maintained religiously with all oil changes done at 5000 kilometre intervals using synthetic oil. Only fix possible because of the damage was to purchase a new long block at a cost of approximately $8000.
