THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE MIGHT EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE BEFORE PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTIFICATION ON FEBRUARY 12, 2018. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD BANGING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR AXLE DETACHED INDEPENDENTLY. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR AXLE PINION NUT DETACHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY DID NOT GO BY CARFAX INFORMATION, AND THE VEHICLE WAS FROM CANADA AND COULD NOT SERVICED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000. *TT *TR
RAM 1500 2012 5.7 HEMI BEGAN WITH A "SQUEAK" COMING FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE ENGINE/BELL HOUSING. DIAGNOSED AS A CAMSHAFT/LIFTER PROBLEM. ENGINE ONLY HAS 77749 MILES. UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE HEMI.
THE WIRELESS IGNITION MODULE IS DEFECTIVE. (IGNITION). WHILE DRIVING IF YOU HIT A BUMP THE TRUCK TURNS OFF. YOUR POWER STEERING POWER BRAKES ALL TURN OFF AT ANY SPEED. IF YOU TURN THE KEY AND HOLD IT IN WITH SLIGHT PRESSURE IT IS FINE
TAKATA RECALL, TRANSMISSION SHIFTS STRAIGHT INTO 4 GEAR FROM THE PARK POSITION, WILL NOT GEAR UP OR DOWN, STUCK IN THAT GEAR
FRONT GAS TANK STRAP PULLED OUT OF FRAME OF TRUCK, GAS TANK WAS HANGING ABOUT 3 INCHES FROM GROUND AND GRINDING AGAINST DRIVE SHAFT , STRAP CRADLE THAT WAS ATTACHED TO FRAME WAS TOTALLY ROTTED AWAY, TRUCK HAS 46,000 WELL MAINTAINED MILES AND IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION , WHEN I RETURNED TO DEALER ON 1/30/2018 WHERE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK NEW IN SEPTEMBER 2012 THEY INFORMED ME FRAME IS ROTTED AND NOT REPAIRABLE, THEY APOLOGIZED AND TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT HELP ME IN ANY WAY . DESPERATE FOR HELP I WENT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND I LEARNED THE FRAME WAS NOT ROTTED BUT THE BRACKET ON THE FRAME HAD ROTTED AWAY. THIS MECHANIC WELDED EVERYTHING BACK TOGETHER AND I PAID HIM $400 OUT OF MY POCKET, AFTER READING SOME DODGE RAM FORUMS I LEARNED I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM, LUCKILY FOR ME NOTHING BAD HAPPENED I WAS ONLY GOING 20 MPH ON A LOCAL ROAD , GAS TANK HAD JUST BEEN FILLED AND HOLDS 32 GALLONS OF FUEL , JUST THOUGHT I SHOULD REPORT THIS SO IT DOES NOT HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ELSE WITH A WORSE OUTCOMES,

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (TEXAN DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM, 18555 EASTEX FREEWAY SERVICE RD, HUMBLE, TX 77338) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT CYLINDER FIVE MISFIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 173,000.
MFG RECALL # T79 AND NHTSA # 17V-821 ALSO THIRD REAR CAB BRAKE LIGHT IS LEAKING INTO THE CAB WHICH CAN LEAK INTO AIRBAGS, MAY CAUSE A MALFUNCTION DUE TO CORROSION.
THE TRUCK STALLS WHEN SLOWING FOR A STOP OR IDLING AROUND A CORNER. THAT IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE STEERING AND BRAKES ARE LOCKED UP AT THAT POINT. WHETHER IT'S IDLING IN A TRAFFIC JAM, COMING TO A STOP, OR IDLING AROUND THE CORNER, YOU WILL SUDDENLY HAVE NO POWER BUT EVERYTHING ELSE IS ON. NOT THE ENGINE AND IT WAS SO SMOOTH THAT YOU DON'T NOTICE UNTIL YOU CAN'T BRAKE OR STEER. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH THIS YEAR MAKE AND MODEL THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I UNDERSTAND THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION BUT IT WAS CLOSED WITHOUT RESOLUTION. CASE NUMBER EA05018. THIS IS A GROWING PROBLEM AND WE THE PEOPLE ARE SPENDING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO REPLACE PARTS THAT ARE JUST PART OF A TROUBLE SHOOTING ISSUE AND MOST OF US STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. AND IT'S THE SAME FOR ALL OF US. PLEASE RELOOK AT THIS PROBLEM. IF I WERE THE ONLY ONE I COULD UNDERSTAND BUT I AM NOT. WE LOVE OUR TRUCKS BUT THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. LAST NIGHT I WAS IN A DOUBLE TURN INTERSECTION WHEN IT SHUT OFF. THANKFUL I WAS IN THE OUTER LANE AND DID NOT CRASH OR HIT THE MEDIAN. IF YOU READ ON CAR COMPLAINTS. COM UNDER 2005 DODGE RAM 1500 STALLS/SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING, YOU WILL SEE THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND THERE ARE LOADS OF PEOPLE. THEY THINK THE REPAIR FIXES BUT IT DOES NOT AND THE ISSUE DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME. IT STARTED OCCASIONALLY BUT NOW IT'S ALMOST DAILY AND MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY. THE TRUCK AND HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MULTIPLE REPAIR SHOPS AND NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM SINCE IT IS DIFFULT TO PINPOINT WHEN IT WILL OCCUR TO SHOW WHAT THE VEHICLE IS ACTUALLY DOING. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE MULTIPLE PARTS TO HELP RESOLVE THE ISSUE TO INCLUDE A NEW STARTER FROM CONSTANT RESTARTING IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION WHILE VEHICLE IS STILL IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE IS ALWAYS IN MOTION WHEN IT RANDOMLY STALLS COMING TO A SLOW, IDLE OR A TURN ESPECIALLY.
The contact owns a 2012 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, there was an abnormally loud howling and winding sound coming from the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The sound had progressed over time. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the rear axle pin was faulty and might have caused the wheels to lock up. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
CYLINDER 5 MISSFIRE-CAMSHAFT: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 10 IN LOUISIANA. I NOTICED THAT THE POWER HAD REDUCED, FUEL ECONOMY DROPPED, AND THE ENGINE WAS SHAKING, THE ENTIRE TRUCK WAS SHAKING LIKE A TIRE WAS ABOUT TO BLOW OUT. AFTER EXITING AND FINDING THE NEAR O'REILY, I WAS TOLD TO CHANGE THE SPARK PLUGS,AND IGNITION COIL #5 AS WELL AS THE FUEL INJECTOR. AFTER ALL THAT WAS REPLACED, THE LIGHT WAS STILL ON AND FLASHING THE SAME CODE. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO A NEARBY DEALERSHIP AND AFTER THEIR DIAGNOSTICS TEST WAS COMPLETE, THEY REPORTED BACK WITH REPLACING THE CAMSHAFT! THIS VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 100,000 MILES AND A 5.7 HEMI. IT WILL ALSO BE A MAJOR OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE DUE TO THE WARRANTY EXPIRING APRIL 2017. IT WILL HAVE TO BE FIXED BEFORE WE PUT IT BACK ON THE ROAD DUE TO THE SAFETY HAZARD AND I HAVE TWO CAR SEATS.
MY 2012 DODGE RAM HAS ALL THE SYMPTOMS THAT MERITED ATTENTION AND RESOLUTION WITH CHRYSLER COMPANY'S TIPM'S RECALL. MY LIGHTS SOMETIMES COME OWN, IT WOULD NOT START AND THE FUEL PUMP WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE PROBLEM 12/18-23/2017. ONCE I PICKED UP THE TRUCK, IT SOME TIME WOULD START BUT AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS. THIS TIME THE DIAGNOSTIC SHOWED THE TIPM MODULE WAS THE PROBLEM, AND EVEN THOUGH THE DEALERSHIP KNOWS THAT THIS WELL KNOWN DEFECT EXIST, NO ONE WANTS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND REPLACE THE PART AGAIN OUT OF MY TRUCK FROM 12/27/2017 TILL 01/06/2018!. WHAT CRITERIA WAS USED TO DETERMINE WHOSE VEHICLE WITH THE KNOWN DEFECT IS CORRECTED OR NOT, IS NOT CLEAR. I CONTACTED FCA AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY TRUCK WAS NOT INCLUDED ON THE LIST ALTHOUGH THE YEAR, MAKR AND MODEL HAD THOSE ISSUES. I THINK THIS IS SHAMEFUL. I TRUSTED THEIR NAME AND REPUTATION, BUT THEY SHOW NO INTEGRITY.

MY 2012 DODGE RAM 1500 IS AFFECTED BY THE NHTSA RECALL 17V-821 (T79 MANUFACTURER RECALL) I HAVE HAD 2 INSTANCES OF MY TRUCK COMING OUT OF PARK IN THE LAST MONTH, I JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS RECALL ONLINE, CHRYSLER/DODGE/RAM HAS NOT NOTIFIED ME OF THE RECALL AT ALL. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THE MAN I SPOKE TO SAID THERE IS NO FIX CURRENTLY AND IT COULD BE SEPTEMBER OR LATER BEFORE THERE IS. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND I WANT TO KNOW WHAT I CAN DO TO GIVE THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER OR HAVE THE DEALER BUY IT BACK AS I DONT FIND IT SAFE TO PARK THE VEHICLE ANYWHERE AS IT COULD ROLL AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

ENGINE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY ON INITIAL START ATTEMPT AND DURING LOW SPEED GOING THROUGH INTERSECTIONS & ACCELERATING ON INTERSTATE ENTRANCE RAMPS. IMMEDIATE LOSS OF DRIVING CONTROL WITH LIMITED BRAKES AND MANUAL STEERING TO AVOID TRAFFIC. PLACING VEHICLE IN PARK AND IGNITION KEY TO OFF VEHICLE WOUD RESTART. RAM DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED REPLACING WIN MODULE AND I HAVE HAD NO REOCCURENCES SINCE, (45 DAYS). THEIR IS NO RECALL OUT FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL BUT IT HAS BEEN NOTED AS A PART FAILURE ON OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY HAZARD AS DRIVING IS DIFFICULT REQUIRING ABOVE NORMAL ARM STRENGTH TO GET VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYLER CUSTOMER CARE AND AWAITING THEIR RESPONSE.
WIN MODUEL(WIRELESS IGNITION NODE MODULE) VEHICLE HAS 90,000 MILES. WHEN KEY IS INSERTED INTO IGNITION AND TURNED TO THE START POSITION THE WIN MODULE FAILS TO MAKE A CIRCUIT INTERNALLY AND WILL NOT CRANK THE VEHICLE. THE FAULTY CONNECTIONS INSIDE WILL ALSO MOVE WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF AT SOMETIMES A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. RESULTING IN LOSS OF BRAKES,STEERING, LIGHTS, ETC. SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH MAY OCCUR BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. MY PERSONAL VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS REPEATEDLY WHILE IN MOTION AND ALSO WHEN STARTING. IT HAPPENED ON A CITY STREET WHILE DOING 35 MPH.

FRONT WINDOWS, MIRRORS AND DOOR LOCKS WORK INTERMITTENTLY. THE WINDOW, AND MIRROR ISSUES OCCUR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THE DOOR LOCK ISSUES OCCUR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY.
IN THE MORNING WHEN ENGINE IS FIRST STARTED THEIR IS A KNOCKING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD FOR ABOUT 10 MIN AND THEN GOES AWAY. ALSO IF TRUCK SITS TOO LONG THE KNOCKING NOISE WILL HAPPEN AGAIN FOR ABOUT 10 MINS. 5.7 HEMI ENGINE. MANY COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS REGARDING THIS NOISE AND CONCERNED THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR A KNOWN ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN KNOWN TO THE DEALER AND GOVERNMENT FOR QUITE SOMETIME NOW.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE FROM SPEEDS 0 - 40MPH A "WHIRLING/WHINING" NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS COMING FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE TRUCK AND IS ONLY HEARD WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE NOISE IS NOT PRESENT WHEN CAR IS PARKED OR STOPPED AT A LIGHT. I HAVE 160,000.00 MILES ON TRUCK AND IT HAS JUST STARTED MAKING THIS NOISE IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS. I SEE OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM AND IT SHOULD BE RECALLED ON ALL TRUCKS. WE HAVE JUST BOUGHT A 2017 RAM TRUCK AND THAT WILL BE OUR THIRD RAM TRUCK AND AM UPSET THAT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM YET
FUEL PUMP RELAY IN THE TIPPIN WENT OUT. STATIONARY AS WOULD NOT START. TOOK TO SHOP, SHOP OWNER SAID HE HAS SEEN THIS IN OTHER DODGE RAMS(RECENTLY AS TWO WEEKS BEFORE WE BROUGHT OURS IN), WAS TOLD THAT SEVERAL MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM(DODGE CARAVAN, JEEP CHEROKEE, AND THE DODGE DURANGO) BUT THE DODGE RAM IS NOT INCLUDED. HE REPAIRED THE VEHICLE USING THE FIX THAT WAS USED ON ALL THE OTHER RECALLED VEHICLES. GAVE US INFO ON WHERE HE FOUND THE FIX WHICH IN TURN OPENED OUR EYES THAT HEY THERE OR LOTS OF THESE FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAYS OUT THERE. WENT TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WHERE MY HUSBAND WAS TOLD, YES THEY HAVE BEEN SEEING THIS AS WELL AND TO SAVE OUR RECEIPTS JUST IN CASE IT WAS ADDED BUT THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AT THIS TIME AND THERE WERE NO PLANS THAT THEY NEW OF FOR IT TO BE ADDED TO THE RECALL. TALKED TO CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND THEY SAID THEY ARE NOT THE ONES WHO ADDS CARS TO THE RECALL THEY COULD DO NOTHING FOR US EITHER. CBWPR091AA WAS THE REPLACEMENT NUMBER FOR THE PART GIVEN TO THE SHOP OWNER FROM MOPAR. JUST WANTED TO PASS THIS ALONG SINCE SEVERAL OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES HAVE HAD THIS SAME RECALL AND WE LIVE IN A CITY OF AROUND 10,000 SO IF SEVERAL PEOPLE IN OUR CITY HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR DODGE RAMS, THEN SURELY THERE AT TONS MORE OUT THERE. TRUCK TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING DEALER SAID IT WOULD BE PROBLEMS WITH TIPM
WHEN I TURNED ON THE HI BEAMS (VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY), THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED, ALL THE DASH LIGHT CUT IN AND OUT, ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS LIT UP, AND THE DOOR AJAR/LIGHTS ON WARNING BELLS WENT OFF. I DIMMED THE HEADLIGHTS AND IT STOPPED. THE DEALER FIRST SAID THE ALTERNATOR WAS BAD, AND IT WAS ONLY CHARGING AT 12 VOLTS, SO THEY REPLACED IT, BUT THAT DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEN THEY SAID IT WAS THE TIPM. 17 DAYS AND $1351 LATER, I HAVE MY TRUCK BACK.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.

THE CONTACT CALLED WALKER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (5757 COLISEUM BLVD, ALEXANDRIA, LA 71303 (318) 443-2167) AND INQUIRED ABOUT THE COST OF A NEW IGNITION SWITCH. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON FAILURE IN DODGE PICK-UP TRUCKS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BREAKING ON THE 5.7 ENGINES. I'VE HAD TO HAVE BOTH MANIFOLDS REPAIRED IN UNDER A YEAR. THIS PROBLEM ALLOWS EXHAUST FUMES TO ENTER THE CABIN EXPOSING THE OCCUPANTS TO CARBON MONOXIDE.
IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE IN SOCIAL MEDIAL (YOUTUBE HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=DQMULP2SLWO&T=790S) THAT THE 2011-2016 DODGE RAM 1500 WILL EXPERIENCE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLT BREAKAGE DUE TO THE CAST IRON EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND THE ALUMINUM HEADS HAVING DIFFERENT HEAT DISPLACEMENT. THE HEAT CONDUCTED BY THE CAST IRON EXHAUST MANIFOLD WILL EVENTUALLY WEAKEN THE BOLTS CAUSING THEM TO BREAK. THE FACT THAT DODGE HAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THIS PROBLEM IS POSING CONSUMERS TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO HAVE THESE BROKEN BOLTS EXTRACTED FROM THE ALUMINUM HEADS. I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A CLAIM SO THAT THIS ISSUE MAY BE BROUGHT UP FOR FUTURE CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS. I LOOK FORWARD TO DISCUSSING THE MATTER IN FURTHER DETAIL.
I HAVE BEEN HEARING A TICKING SOUND COMING FROM MY ENGINE THESE PAST FEW WEEKS. I LOOKED INTO THE MATTER AND HAVE FOUND ISSUES WITH THE MANIFOLD BOLTS THAT ARE BREAKING OFF AND CAUSING THIS PROBLEM. I CONTACTED DODGE OF GILROY TODAY AND THEY STATE THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANY ISSUES REGARDING THIS ENGINE HEMI 5.7. HOWEVER, AFTER LOOKING AT THIS WEBSITE, IT APPEARS THEY'RE MANY ISSUES. THIS NEEDS TO BECOME A RECALL, AS IT IS A DANGER OF EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING THE CAB.

TRIED USING THE STEPTRONIC SHIFTER TO PUT INTO A LOWER GEAR AND IT WOULD NOT SWITCH. PULLED OFF INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURNED OFF MY TRUCK AND WAITED A BIT AND THEN TURNED BACK ON AGAIN. SHIFTED INTO REVERSE WITH NO ISSUE BUT DRIVE WAS STILL SHOWING 4TH GEAR.
EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS CONSTANTLY BREAK. THIS CAUSES EXHAUST LEAK AT THE CYLINDER HEADS IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I HAVE HAD THIS REPAIRED TWICE IN THE PAST YEAR AND THE PROBLEM IS THERE AGAIN.
DRIVING MAKE A TURN AND IT JUST TURNS OFF AND THE STEERING LOCKS ! TURN BACK ON WHEN IN NEUTRAL ARE PARK. AND START UP AND MAY NOT DO IT FOR A WEEK AND DO IT AGAIN.
VEHICLE MAKES A LOUD TICKING NOICE AT STARTUP ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE. VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. TICKING NOISE STOPS AROUND FIVE MINUTES AFTER THE VEHICLE WARMS UP.
