THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO CONFIRMED THE FAILURE, BUT THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE, DOT NUMBER, AND VIN WERE NOT AVAILABLE.

WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE AT 55 MPH, ENGINE SHUTDOWN. TOWED TO MECHANIC. VALVE SPRING BROKE, BENT PUSH ROD AND PISTON DAMAGED. HAD TO HAVE TOTAL ENGINE REPLACEMENT. 98500 MILES ON WELL MAINTAINED ENGINE. NO HELP FROM CHRYSLER AT 3 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY.
DRIVING VEHICLE WHEN DIGITAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WENT BLACK AND ENGINE STOPPED TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKING AND STEERING ASSIST. LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE WHICH ROLLED TO STOP. NO COLLISION OR DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. VEHICLE RESTARTS AND DRIVEABLE NO DIGITAL INFORMATION DISPLAYED. DEALER SAYS DIGITAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURE. CONCERN DEFINITE SAFETY RISK IF HAPPENED IN TRAFFIC OR WHEN TURNING OR STOPPING. DID THE FAILURE OF THE DIGITAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER KILL THE ENGINE OR DID SOMETHING ELSE KILL THE ENGINE AND THE CLUSTER. IF THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEABLE IS IT SAFE TO DRIVE OR CAN EXPECT REPEAT OF SAME INCIDENT?
JULY 14, 2018 MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS GETTING HESITATION GOING UPHILL. I FIRST TOOK IT TO A LOCAL SHOP WHO REPLACED O2 SENSOR AND ALL SPARK PLUGS AT THE COST OF 800.00, 5 MILES DOWN THE ROAD CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BACK ON SAME CODE P219A. TOOK IT BACK SAID EVERYTHING TESTED FINE. SECOND SHOP REPLACED UPWARD AND DOWNWARD SENSORS 1100.00. 5 MILES LATER SAME CHECK ENGINE CODE. THIRD SHOP SAID THE COULDNT FIND ANYTHING TO PICK IT UP 200.00. I TOOK IT TO DEALER. AT THIS POINT BAD GAS MILEAGE AND HESITAION...THEY KEPT IT TWO MONTHS AND STATED THEY HAD CHRYSLER ENGINEERS IN THE FIELD HELPING THEM. FINALLY 8 WEEKS LATER, I WAS TOLD THE ONLY THIN THEY THINK IT COULD BE WAS WIRING HARNESS. 1400.00 BUT CANT PROMISE THAT WILL FIX IT. IVE REPLACED THROTTLE BODY AND NUMEROUS PARTS TOTALING APPROX. 3500.00. LIGHT STILL ON. DRIVING BACK IT DIED! DEAD! THROTTLE BODY CONTROL MODULE SENSOR ERROR WAS SHOWING ON DASH. DIED WHILE DRIVING. TOWED IT TO THE DEALER I GOT IT FROM. NOW THEY ARE SAYING 3700.00 TO FIX IT. CAMSHAFT AND LIFTERS NOT ONLY THAT ..SO MANY HAVE THIS PROBLEM PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER FOR 3-6 MONTHS! THAT WILL BE A YEAR WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO DRIVE MY TRUCK. ITS BEEN IN THE SHOP 3 WEEKS NOW WAITING ON PARTS! WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED BY CHRYSLER? THAT MANY VEHICLES WAITING IS A PROBLEM! I HAD THE TRUCK A YEAR AND 4 MONTHS WHEN THIS HAPPNED. MILEAGE 130,000
TRUCK DIED IN TRAFFIC SHORTLY AFTER LIGHT TURNED GREEN ACCELERATING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING ON 6/28/18. VEHICLE HAD ONLY 29000 MILES AT TIME OF PROBLEM. DODGE WOULD NOT COVER REPLACEMENT FOR STEERING RACK. DODGE RAM 1500 HAD A RECALL ON THIS STEERING RACK IN 2015. BUT WOULD NOT COVER THE 2013. THE COAST FOR REPLACEMENT WAS 2617.00 VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON CITY STREET.
DRIVING 2013 RAM 1500 WITH ONLY 36,623 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN AT MAJOR INTERSECTION, WITHOUT ANY WARNING, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN, REACTED INSTANTLY APPLYING BRAKES TO PREVENT COLLISION. AT THAT POINT, THE DASH LIGHT ILLUMINATED STEERING WHEEL, INDICATING PROBLEM AFTER THE OCCURRENCE. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC TO OTHERS AND MYSELF, BY NOT HAVING STEERING CONTROL. AFTER TAKEN TO THE DEALER, IT WAS DIAGNOSE AS ELECTRIC STEERING MODULE FAILURE AND PART WAS NON SERVICEABLE. TO MAKE THE REPAIR, THIS WOULD REQUIRE COMPLETE STEERING RACK REPLACEMENT, ALONG WITH FRONT END ALIGNMENT. HAVING NO RECALLS AND BEING OUT OF WARRANTY, ESTIMATED REPAIR COST $2,200. IT IS A DISGRACE, THAT CONSUMERS ARE BEING PUT INTO DANGER AND THEN CHARGED FOR POORLY DESIGN PRODUCT. AFTER CHECKING, THE ELECTRIC STEERING IS A PROBLEM AND OTHER COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED. THERE SHOULD BE A CLASS ACTION SUBMITTED CONCERNING THIS ISSUE, DEMANDING COMPENSATION FOR THIS INFERIOR STEERING CONTROL.
TAKATA RECALL HI I HAVE A 2013 RAM 1500 AND IT SEEMS THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLT HEADS ARE BROKEN AND THE MANIFOLD IS LEAKING IT MAKES A LOUD TICKING NOSE AND IN MY RESEARCH IT SEEMS LIKE IT HAPPENS TO MOST IF NOT ALL RAM 1500 SO I WAS WONDERING WHY THIS IS NOT A RECALL AND IF IT COULD BE I BELIEVE IT IS DUE TO THE KIND OF BOLTS AND OR THE DIFFERENT METALS FROM THE ENGINE BLOCK TO THE MANIFOLD AND ALSO FROM THE HEATING UP OF THE ENGINE AND THEN COOLING THE METAL JUST BRAKES
RECENTLY HAD MY TRUCK IN FOR ROUTINE SERVICE AND THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED MY TRUCK WITH BROKEN EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS. TRUCK HAS 79,000 MILES ON IT. AFTER RESEARCHING ON LINE I HAVE DISCOVERED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. IS THERE AN INVESTIGATION REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND A POSSIBLE RECALL SINCE IT HAPPENS SO OFTEN? THE TRUCK MAKES A TICKING SOUND WHEN IT IS STARTED AND GRADUALLY GETS BETTER AS THE MANIFOLD GETS WARM.

DRIVING ASSISTANCE FEATURES WERE RENDERED UNAVAILABLE DURING A SOFTWARE UPDATE WHICH I BELIEVE CONTRIBUTED TO A COLLISION. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY WHEN CONTROL WAS LOST RESULTING IN A CRASH.
,WHEN THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS ENGAGE FOR THE DOORS AND TAILGATE AFTER REACHING A CERTAIN SPEED, T UNKNOWN TIMES AND WITHOUT WARNING THE TAILGATE WILL DISENGAGE AND OPEN. IT HAPPENS EVERY COUPLE OF DAYS, DEPENDING ON HOW OFTEN I USE THE TRUCK. LUCKILY NO ONE HAS BEEN BEHIND ME AND SO FAR THE TAILGATE CABLES HAVE HELD UP. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A LOCAL RAM DEALER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND THE SERVICE PERSON STATED THEY'VE HAD A COUPLE COME IN LIKE THAT. I SAW WHERE RAM IS RECALLING THE 2015-2017 TRUCKS AND FEEL THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED FURTHER BACK.
My 2013 Ram 1500 has had issues with the horn not working when the middle of the steering wheel is pushed but sounds when the key fob is used to lock doors. The EVIC control on the steering wheel would also not work. This started in 2018 where the problem was intermittent. This was part of recall R36 where the rubbing of the steering wheel harness on the retainer springs could cause an electrical short and or inadvertent air bag deployment. I took my vehicle to Bill Volz WestchesterDodge, Cortland Manor, NY for the recall on 10-19-15 with 18,205 miles. I feel the work wasn’t done properly because the problem reoccurred in less than 3 years and about 6,000 miles later. The horn and EVIC has not worked in over 7 months. My concern is that I could be driving on a major interstate when my vehicle airbag deploys causing a crash. I contacted Chrysler customer service on 1-13-2025 and spoke to a representative. That person called me back on 1-14-2025 and stated that he referred my case #[XXX] , to a specialist who would contact me in 2-3 business days. As of 2-2-2025 I have not received any response from Chrysler customer service. I need assistance in correcting this safety issue. See attachments. I CHECKED ONLINE AND IT STATES THERE IS A REMEDY TO GET MY TRUCK FIXED, HOWEVER I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE AND HAVE TO WAIT TO GET ANOTHER RECALL LETTER. IF IT STATES ONLINE THERE IS A REMEDY WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT TO GET ANOTHER LETTER ? I GUESS IF MY VEHICLE ROLLS AWAY, IT IS OKAY WITH MOPAR.
EXHAUST MANIFOLDS WARP UNDER NORMAL ENGINE TEMPERATURES CAUSING MANIFOLD MOUNTING BOLTS TO BREAK.
The contact owns a 2013 Ram 1500. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 19V347000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) and 17V821000 (POWER TRAIN). The contact stated that while moving the gear shifter out of park(P), the gear was stuck in park(P). The contact opened the door and rocked the vehicle back and forth, then closed the door and moved the gear shifter out of park(P). The contact moved the gear shift lever. A dealer was not contacted, and the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The contact stated that the vehicle was part of the inheritance his father left. The contact's father had experienced the same failure. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, after the vehicle was started, the power steering failed to function as intended and locked up, and the contact was unable to maneuver the steering wheel. The contact used force to move the steering wheel. The message "check the steering" was displayed on the dashboard. Most recently, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. The contact used force to maneuver the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the electrical system inside the rack and pinion had failed. The contact was informed that the entire steering system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.
TURNED THE IGNITION ON AND THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING " LIGHT CAME ON AND WHEN I STARTED THE TRUCK THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING. THE TRUCK HAD 38000 WHEN THIS HAPPENED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (LITHIA CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM FIAT OF ANCHORAGE, 9600 OLD SEWARD HWY, ANCHORAGE, AK 99515), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V117000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL; THEREFORE, HE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS ON DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE OF ENGINE BREAKING. I HAVE REPLACED 2 BOLTS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND STILL NEED TO REPLACE ONE ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF MY ENGINE. IT STARTED AS A LIGHT TICKING NOISE AND WOULD GO AWAY AFTER THE ENGINE WOULD HEAT UP, THEN IT HAD BECOME LOUDER, WHEN I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC HE FOUND THAT I HAD 3 BOLTS BROKEN AND HE WAS ABLE TO GET THE TWO ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OUT BUT NOT THE ONE ON THE DRIVER SIDE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE RAM ENGINE, BUT IT SEEMS THAT RAM WILL NOT TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THIS ISSUE. I WENT TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO SEE HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO HAVE THEM DO THE INITIAL REPAIR AND WAS QUOTED $600 TO OVER $2,000 FOR THEIR PROBLEM.
I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK USED AND HAD TO REPLACE BROKEN EXHAUST MANIFOLD-TO-CYLINDER HEAD BOLTS WHICH HAD SHEARED OFF. I HAD BOTH SIDES REPLACED (ALL BOLTS WITH NEW) AND NEW MANIFOLD GASKETS. WITHIN A YEAR THERE WAS THE EXHAUST LEAK UPON STARTUP. I HAVE HEARD FROM MANY HEMI V8 OWNERS THAT THIS IS VERY COMMON AND CAN AFFECT THE ABILITY TO PASS THE REQUIRED BIANNUAL SMOG CHECK.

AS A RESULT, THE ITEMS IN THE TRUCK BED FELL ONTO THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SCHLOSSMANN DODGE CITY CHRYSLER JEEP RAM FIAT (19100 W CAPITOL DR., BROOKFIELD, WI 53045, (262) 790-9000), BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE CONTACT SCHEDULED ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER IN AN ATTEMPT TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO REVERSE BY ITSELF AFTER I SHIFTED IT TO PARK. ALSO, IT MAKES A STRANGE NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN WHEN I TRY TO SHIFT FROM PARK INTO GEAR. SOMETIMES IT CLUNKS VERY HARD INTO REVERSE. LUCKILY I WAS AT A STOP WITH THE BREAKS ON.
DRIVING ON HWY 45 MPH, ENGINE SHUT DOWN NO WARNINGS. TOWED TO SHOP. WIRING HARNESS LAYING ON ENGINE, MELTED THE WIRERS CAUSING IT TO SHORT OUT.
WHILE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE, THE AIR SUSPENSION FAILED. THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE DROPPED TO THE STOP BUMPERS. THEN THERE WAS A MESSAGE THAT READ: IMMEDIATELY AIR SUSPENSION REPAIR/ SERVICE REQUIRED. THE FRONT BEGAN TO RAISE UP AND THEN ANOTHER MESSAGE. AIR SUSPENSION COOLING DOWN PLEASE WAIT. FINALLY THE FRONT AND REAR OF THE VEHICLE DROPPED TO THE BUMP STOP (SAFE MODE). THE AIR COMPRESSOR CRACKED, RELEASING ALL THE NITROGEN. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAVE HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH DODGE RAM AIR SUSPENSION.
POWER STEERING MODULAR WENT BAD THAY HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING RACK WENT OUT WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE COULD NOT TURN THE WHEELS AT ALL
WHEN DRIVING THE SMELL OF COOLANT ENTERS VENTILATION OF VEHICLE. DURING STATIONERY POSITION NO FLUID SEEMS TO BE LEAKING. HOWEVER, ON FURTHER TESTING AROUND 2500 RPM COOLANT STARTS LEAKING FROM WATER PUMP SPRAYING COOLANT THROUGHOUT THE HOOD ONTO EXHAUST WHICH CAN LIKE DESCRIBE IN OTHER 2013 -2017 RAM MODELS CREATE A FIRE HAZARD..
TRUCK STARTING TO SHAKE AND NOT BE ABLE TO ACCELERATE, TOOK IT TO GET CHECK OUT , REPLACE LIFTERS, CAM SHAFT, GETTING CODES OF MIS FIRE IN CYLINDER SIX, THEN CYLINDER FOUR. THEN CYLINDER 6 REACTIVATION CONTROL PERFORMANCE, THEN CYLINDER DEACTIVATION SYSTEM BANK 1, OIL PRESSURE OUT OF RANGE CAMSHAFT ADVANCE/ RETARD DISABLED. SPENT. WHEN DRIVING GOING OVER PASS OR INCLINE TRUCKS STARTS TO SHAKE LIKE ITS GOING TO EXPLODE. NOW IT IS STARTING TO JUST DIE AND TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING OR AT A STOP SIGN.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ON JANUARY 23, 2018. ON MARCH 28, 2018, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE STEERING ABILITY SEIZED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THE FRONT END WAS REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,958. *BF *JB

ALL 4 DOOR LOCKS ON MY TRUCK DO NOT WORK PROPERLY WHEN USING THE KEY FOB AS WELL THE POWER LOCKS INSIDE THE VEHICLE . THEY EITHER DO NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK. IT ROTATES LOCKING ONE DOOR AND OTHER IS OPEN, SOMETIMES 3 DOORS LOCK AND 1 OPEN, AND IT CHANGES EVERY TIME IT'S USED . THERE ARE PUBLIC FORUMS WHERE MANY OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCE THE SAME ISSUE UNTIL THEY REPLACE THE BCM MODULE. IVE EXPERIENCED GREAT DIFFICULTLY WITH THE DEALERSHIPS ABILITY TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. THEY ADVISED ME TO REPLACE ALL 4 ACTUATORS, NEVER ADDRESSING THE PUBLIC FORUMS THAT DISCUSSSED THIS EXACT ISSUE. SEEMS LIKE THE DEALERS ARE MAKING MONEY ON THESE PROBLEMS AND NOT CORRECTING THE ISSUE. THE TRUCK HAD ONLY 24,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THE ISSUE STARTED. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE MANY OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED OF THE SAME ISSUE.
DASHBOARD FROM TIME TO TIME WILL GO COMPLETELY OUT FOR A FEW SECONDS AND REBOOT WHILE DRIVING. DURING THIS TIME NO DASHBOARD INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE. IT IS HARD TO REPRODUCE BECAUSE IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE PINON NUT LOOSENED FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH CAUSED THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE TO LOCK UP. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVESHAFT LOCKED UP AND THEN FRACTURED IN HALF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO PATTERSON CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (1611 US-259 BUS, KILGORE, TX 75662) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR END LOCKED UP ON THE VEHICLE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, THE DRIVESHAFT AND FRONT AND REAR U-JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
VEHICLE HAS ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING. THE COMPUTER CONTROLLING THE POWER STEERING HAS FAILED AT 92,000 MILES. PRETTY DANGEROUS DUE TO THE SIZE, WEIGHT & TIRES ON A BIG TRUCK LIKE THIS. I UNDERSTAND THAT AT 92,000 MILE THINGS FAIL BUT THE COMPUTER THAT CONTROLS STEERING IS DANGEROUS. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID CAN'T HELP ME. IT HAPPENED WHEN THE WEATHER GOT COLD HERE IN ATLANTA.
PERIODICALLY WHEN TURNING MY STEERING WHEEL THE DASH AND RADIO SCREEN TURN OFF AND RE-BOOT. WHEN MAKING A TURN, LEFT OR RIGHT, EVERY DISPLAY AND GAUGE ON THE DASH AND THE RADIO/ BACK UP CAMERA SCREEN ALL SHUT OFF AND RE-BOOT AS IF YOU HAVE JUST PUT THE KEY IN AND TURNED THE IGNITION TO THE ON POSITION. I HAVE NO INFORMATION FOR ROUGHLY 15 TO 30 SECONDS.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V821000 (POWER TRAIN) AND STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER (AUBURN CHRYSLER JEEP RAM, 1901 GRASS VALLEY HIGHWAY, AUBURN, CA 95603) CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
WHILE WORKING UNDER THE TRUCK THE AIR SUSPENSION FAILED CAUSING THE TRUCK TO DROP. I HAVE ALSO BEEN DRIVING THE TRUCK AND FOR NO APPARENT REASON THE FRONT OR REAR DRIVERS AIR BAG DEFLATES ALMOST CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL. I SPOKE WITH THE DEALER WHO STATED WITH THE COLD WEATHER THERE ARE MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE 2013 AND 2014 RAM AIR SUSPENSION FAILING. HE ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS A NEWER COMPRESSOR INSTALLED IN NEWER TRUCKS ALONG WITH BETTER COMPONENTS THAT SOLVED THE ISSUE. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 72000 MILES ON THE TRUCK WITH A REPEATED AIR SUSPENSION FAILURE IN THE 45DAYS I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE.
"BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK" I RECENTLY RECEIVED MY LATEST RECALL (THIS RECALL MAKES 4 IN TOTAL SINCE INITIAL PURCHASE OF MY 2013 RAM 1500). THIS LATEST RECALL IS T79, AND THE PREVIOUS 3 WERE: T25; R36; R23 ALL RECALLS ARE DUE TO SAFETY RELATED ISSUES ON MY RAM. THIS LATEST RECALL (T79) IS THE MOST CONCERNING, BECAUSE THE VEHICLE CAN ACTUALLY ROLL AWAY WHILE IN THE PARK POSITION, WITHOUT EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED. I RECEIVED RECALL T79 IN EARLY FEBRUARY 2018, AND AS OF TODAY 03/21/18, PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AT MY LOCAL FCA DEALERSHIP TO FIX THIS DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE. FOR THIS REASON MY TRUCK STAYS PARKED AND ONLY HAS APPROXIMATELY 14,800 MILES, AND MY RESALE VALUE HAS GREATLY BEEN DEVALUED. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE BEHIND THE WHEEL OF MY TRUCK AND THEREFORE I DO NOT DRIVE IT. I FEEL I WAS MISLEAD INTO BELIEVING I WAS BUYING A VEHICLE THAT WAS SAFE AND FIT TO OPERATE ON THE ROAD, AND THIS HAS NOT BEEN THE CASE. MY TRUCK IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE DUE TO THIS MOST RECENT RECALL T79, AND I FEEL CHEATED OUT OF A VEHICLE THAT I CANNOT EVEN OPERATE SAFELY. I EMAILED FCA, AND EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT I FELT I WAS MISLEAD INTO PURCHASING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE AND WOULD LIKE A REFUND FOR THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE VEHICLE, BECAUSE IT IS BECOMING MORE APPARENT TO ME THAT I WAS SOLD A LEMON. THERE ARE OVER 1.5 MILLION TRUCKS OUT THERE WITH THIS T79 RECALL AND PARTS, AT LEAST IN MY AREA, ARE CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE, WHICH POSES AN ENORMOUS RISK AND LIABILITY TO CONTINUE TO OPERATE. 4 SAFETY RECALLS IN LESS THAN 15,000 MILES, AND ALMOST 1 FOR EVERY YEAR OF OWNERSHIP IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. BASED UPON THE RECALL DODGE HAS NOT HAD THE PART TO REPAIR IT. I HAVE CALLED ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS TO GET THE PART ORDERED PRIOR TO MAKING AN APPOINTMENT AND THEY REFUSE TO DO SO.THEY HAVE STATED THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PART ON HAND. THE BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK (BTSI) LOCKING PIN MAY BECOME STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION. A BTSI LOCKING PIN STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION MAY ALLOW THE TRANSMISSION TO BE SHIFTED OUT OF PARK AND TO OR FROM ANY GEAR POSITION WITHOUT DEPRESSION OF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND/OR WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, IF A KEY IS APPLICABLE.
TRUCK STARTED TAPPING 4-5 WEEKS AGO. I WAS ADVISED THAT IT WAS PROBABLY AN EXHAUST MANIFOLD LEAK... TO GET IT FIXED AT INSPECTION. 5 DAYS AGO, TRUCK STARTED SKIPPING AND THE CIL CAME ON. ERROR CODE PO302. MECHANIC DIAGNOSED AS CAM LOBE FAILURE. THE TRUCK HAS 113,500 MILES ON IT ALL HIGHWAY. SYNTHETIC OIL; PLUS FUEL. BASED ON MY RESEARCH... THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT SEEMS TO BE PREVALENT. CHRYSLER SHOULD COVER THIS REPAIR. $3500 REPAIR COST FOR A TRUCK LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD. UNFAIR TO SAY THE LEAST.
VEHICLE RANDOMLY LOSES THE POWER STEERING AT BOTH HIGH AND LOW SPEEDS AND CAN'T BE SAFELY CONTROLLED. SOMETIMES THE LIGHT COMES ON AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. HOWEVER, IT'S VERY DANGEROUS TRYING TO STEER SUCH A HEAVY TRUCK. THIS CAUSES IT TO BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE AND IF YOU GET STUCK ON A HIGHWAY. GOOD LUCK IF YOU LOSE IT AND YOU NEED TO MAKE A QUICK TURN.
DASH LIGHT SAYS SERVICE AIR SUSPENSION IMMEDIATELY . VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND JUST BEING STARTED . COMPRESSOR WAS REPLACED LAST YEAR AND FUSE WAS REPLACED ON 10-31-18 . ON 11-05-18 SERVICE AIR SUSPENSION IS BACK ON . THE VEHICLE DROPS IN THE FRONT MAKING IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
