I have been searching for a replacement ABS Control Module for my Ram truck for over a year to ensure the safety of my vehicle while stopping on the road. Stellantis has not provided their customers with safety replacement parts for their vehicles to keep them safe to drive on the roads. This puts me and others on the road at risk. My vehicle is available for inspection. This condition has been confirmed by multiple dealers and service centers. My truck's ABS warning lamps and messages have been present for over a year. To date I have found no supplier of replacement ABS modules for my 2014 Ram truck.
I had my ABS Light and Brake light come on in August 2023. My cruise control and my brake controller would no longer work. Took it to a dealer for repairs and they diagnosed it as needing a ABS Contol Modular. It has been on back order since that time. I was first told 3 mo, then 6 mo. Etc. I visited the dealership last week and they told me the part will no longer be manufactured. I have a low mileage vehicle that is worthless to trade in or sell because of this brake issue. The part number is 68228991AD ABS Control Modular.
On or around august of 2023 I received a warning light to service ABS system. After I scanned the truck I received the following codes, C2200 status: MIL/CONFIRMED - Anti-lock Brake Module Internal: Internal Electronic Failure, and U0415 status: MIL/CONFIRMED - Invalid Data Received from Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module 'A’: No Sub Type Information. I took the truck to a mechanic to confirm and repair. I was told that the ABS module would need to be replaced but that it was on back order. Since then the ABS system has randomly worked properly and randomly failed. Without a properly working ABS system it is very dangerous to drive due to the lack of traction control, anti-lock brakes, trailer brakes and all other items related to the ABS system. This could cause an accident. I have tried since to get a new ABS module and every time I inquired about it the module has been on back order. I was told by multiple mechanics that this is a common issue with FCA vehicles and the ABS modules are always on back order and very difficult to get. This is a very serious concern if I can’t buy a part that has to due with the braking system. The truck is available for inspection upon request
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the vehicle lost power steering functionality and the steering wheel became firm. The contact was able to drive to the residence and shifted to park(P). The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the check engine and steering warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
While driving the steering completely failed and the vehicle was extremely hard to turn. I managed to slow the vehicle without incident and drove the vehicle very slowly home. I see there is an investigation into this and I'd like to add my testimony.
EPS went out while driving down the interstate. It is available to inspect on request. I was able to get pulled over without any accidents. Nothing confirmed from dealer yet. No warning lights came on, just happened instantly.
I have a intermittent loss of power steering causing the vehicle to be very difficult to turn. Doesn’t feel safe to drive the vehicle. I checked the number on powersteering gear and it doesn’t match the numbers listed on the equipment safety recall vb9 put out by fca. The symptoms are identical to the one listed in the current safety recall.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) and 23V411000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were unavailable. The contact stated while driving approximately 15 MPH, the vehicle stalled at an intersection. The contact stated that he was able to cross the intersection on momentum, pull over, shift into park(P) and restart the vehicle. The contact drove the vehicle back to his residence. The vehicle was started the following day and the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the "low amps" and "low oil" lights were illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 174,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Power steering failure. Electronic power steering rack failed while driving. Caused vehicle to go off road. Was able to avoid hitting anything but was only lucky.
When I start the engine, the steering wheel icon comes on. It says service power steering. There's no power to turn the steering wheel. After the engine runs and I turn off the engine and start it again, the icon doesn't come on and I now have steering power. This happened 3 times. I currently have the truck in the shop to be serviced. The amount is $4500. I need to know if this is a recall issue. I don't have this amount to spend on this concern. Althea Smith
Without warning power steering goes in and out. Sometimes it works just fine other times it has happened while driving on the highway. Sometimes will start with power steering already not working.
On August 9 2023 I was driving my ram and it just completely shut down. Had towed to dealership. It’s now been 2 months and no answer on when I will be getting my truck fixed. Still making payments on this thing and it’s just sitting and cost me money from sitting. I keep getting the run around from ram
Unknown… Steering wheel get tight and stiff as if it’s trying to pull in a different direction….
My power steering suddenly stopped working while driving. Turned truck off and back on. Power steering was back. Started truck up the next day and power steering is completely off. I've read this is a consistent issue with 2014 ram 1500 trucks. Please get this fixed. It's extremely dangerous while driving

Question 1: Vehicle has experienced a total loss of power steering, a known issue on these trucks that is actively under an NHTSA ODI investigation. This report should be added to ODI investigation number RQ 23-003 as an identical example of the issue. Problem began at around 70,000 miles and gradually became worse until power steering control was completely non functional. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Question 2: Vehicle is incredibly difficult to control in turns. Requires a level of strength that the average driver does not possess, and if they do, operation of the vehicle is still extremely physically difficult. Question 3: Problem has been confirmed by multiple independent service centers. Question 4: Component has NOT been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance representative. Component HAS been inspected by service center technicians and quoted for replacement at over $4,000. Question 5: Warning lamp indicating steering problem is always illuminated in the vehicle. Warning lamp initially appeared during the first failure, which occurred while operating the vehicle at highway speed.
Like the 2011,2012 rams, the front support strap for the gas tank failed. (The tank is being held on by a ratchet strap) Going to call a dealer for repair but heard the recall was extended to 2018:
Power Steering seems to go in and out. This results in a loss of control of the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that after restarting the vehicle, the message “Power Steering Failure” was displayed, and the steering wheel was very difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the steering rack was faulty and needed to be replaced; however, the parts needed to repair the vehicle were on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 74,650.
There have been several recalls on this vehicle. The day after purchase there was a class action settlement. I’m curious as to how the dealership was allowed to sell this vehicle knowing they had all the information in regards to the sell. The vehicle should have had a stop sell. Our family was at risk when the engine started to give out while on the road. The vehicle has been sitting at the shop for months with back and forth on an engine failure, etc. replacement. It’s all fine to purchase the vehicle, yet we are facing the consequences of the manufacturer/dealership negligence and left with no help and being dismissed due to claims of parts not available. We have a family of 6 and down to one vehicle but, not our part but, due to the fact we have one vehicle. I have sent an email 3 times due to this issue and no one bothers to touch base. The recalls had to have been known by the seller, yet did not disclose the potential risks. We went through major decisions to find a way to pay the vehicle off and I feel that because it is, they got their money and do not care. However, we do and it does not disregard the fact it was manufactured improperly and sold when it should not have been. Not only were other drivers at risk due to the faulty vehicle but, my family was.
Was changing drivers thought I had put the vehicle in park passenger got out I got out and the truck began to run backwards it knocked us both down and hit a telephone pole with the passenger side door passenger was able to run and catch vehicle in time before it ran backwards into traffic
Truck with under 60k miles. Experienced intermitent to full power steering loss. Truck would get really hard to steer at all speeds, especially in banking curves. Would also oversteer while making 90° turns, like it had a sticky steering wheel - that did not want to return to position. My mechanic said the electronic power steering was shot and since it was a part of the rack and pinion, the entire rack needed replaced. Turns out the part is recalled on 15'-19' models, but not my '14. Although it seems to be a known issue. Dodge said to me and my mechinic seperately, that due to scarcity the part was not available, and if it was it would be $2,500 for the part alone. Dodge corporate told me that it needed to be looked at by one of their service centers. The local dodge svc center told me, that unless I showed that I did prior work at the dealership, Dodge would do nothing for me, not to waste my time or $$ on a 2nd diag. A third shop was able to find a remanufatured rack and pinion and installed it for $1880.96...and still I worry the issue will arise again. The reman part has a 3yr warranty - a part, I am told should have lasted the life of the vehicle. Although the repair was done the past couple of weeks, I have no idea if the shop disposed of it or not. The part put me at risk as it would all of a sudden stop working, while driving. The problem was reproduced and identified by 2 serperate independent service centers. No lights came on my dash. While it could have, it did not cause accident or injury, but it did put my work truck out of commision for a while.
Air suspension system fails causing dangerous driving condition. This is an ongoing issue which began periodically when temperatures dropped below 32 degrees. Now it is occurring more frequently causing the vehicles steering and stability to be compromised. Fuel tank strap failed due to heavy rust causing one end of tank to drop and scrap on the road surface. Potential safety and fire hazard.
intermittent power stering loss. steering light on dash would come on and power steering would stop working. Had to manhandle the steering. Thank goodness no accident.7 Dealer replaced gear rack. 8/1/2023 Cost $3600. to have power stering replaced.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel became stiff and difficult to maneuver. The contact stated that the vehicle inadvertently decelerated while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The power steering assist warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering rack and pinion failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 63,000.
The Power Steering went out on my 2014 RAM 1500 at approximately 98,000 miles. The first time this happened, while I was driving at low speeds, the steering wheel would intermittently lock up. I couldn't turn the steering wheel, intermittently. I brought the truck to the RAM dealer for repair. They replaced my Rack & Pinion for $4,000. The second time this happened, slightly less than 1,000 miles after the Rack & Pinion replacement, I couldn't turn the steering wheel at all. Fortunately, I was on my driveway. I had the truck towed to the RAM dealer for warranty repair. If I had been driving and the steering completely locked up, it could have been fatal.
My wife has been complaining that the steering gets stiff and unresponsive sometimes.
On two occasions the power steering stopped working and I had to physically control the truck and control the direction it was headed. The first time I was headed home and had to muscle the steering to get home. The second time as I was headed up the driveway to leave to go to the doctor's office the steering got hard to move so I parked the truck and took my other vehicle. When the power steering stops working a warning light displays on the control panel. I found on the internet that this issue is a known issue by the manufacture since at least 2021. It states that the EPS (electric power steering) module is at fault. I found out today that the module is located inside the rack and pinion. It is now July 17, 2023, and this problem caught me completely by surprise. I am currently trying to locate a rack and pinion for my vehicle with an estimated date of August 7, 2023 See below from vehiclehistory.com: What are some of the 2014 dodge Ram 1500 power steering problems? 5219 6 Top Answer Nick B. January 19, 2021 The 2014 Ram 1500 has electric power steering, so luckily You'll avoid all the issues with power steering fluid leaks, power steering pump failure, and air in the fluid. However, it comes with a whole host of new issues, which can manifest more suddenly and catastrophically (at speed). On the other hand, it seems as if these issues happen less commonly, so it's a fair trade off in the minds of many. Typically, if You're going to see a failure, it's going to be the EPS module. It's possible that You'll have intermittent power steering loss, but it commonly happens all at once -- which can really be quite dangerous if You're traveling at highway speeds. Some drivers report this failure at high mileage, but an unsettling number have reported it at 50,000 or fewer.
Electric Power steering rack failed unexpectedly. Drove the truck to work in the morning and it was fine. Went to leave for home at the end of the day and it wasn't working. Dealer said it was bad and needed replaced and wanted $4000 to repair. The next day it suddenly started working, pulling out of parking spot at work, and almost hit a car next to me.
The power steering went out while I was driving on the highway At posted speed limit. I was unable to freely steer and navigating through traffic became extremely dangerous. I’ve taken it to two mechanics and they said the rack and pinion needs to be replaced due to the component being part of the steering mechanism. No warning lights came on prior to me driving. The warning light came on while I was driving as soon as the powering steering went out.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power, and the vehicle was coasted off the roadway. The vehicle failed to restart. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V411000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The VIN was included; however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact also received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that parts were not yet available. VIN tool confirms parts not available. The failure mileage was 100,000.
At speeds over 65 mph the truck vibrates violently. We have had it to 3 different repairs places, new tire’s balanced, new front parts and it still vibrates.
My truck has 87,000 miles. 1st my engine went out last month because of a known engine issue that Dodge is not owning up to on Hemi engines. 3 weeks later after replacing the engine my Power steering went out as I was driving causing it to be very hard to drive. These are both known issues with these trucks that recalls should in place for. I have spent close to $14,000 in one month fixing these issues Dodge should be paying for on a truck with only 87,000 miles.
This is the 4th time it's happened and also the 2nd time iv almost been killed!! I have a 2014 ram 1500 which iv grown to love. Iv have alot of issues but never complained and just took care of ... yet the gauge cluster display decides to go into a party mode (strobing) and flickering or just flat out going black!!! I have bad eyes and twice now within 2 months driving at night iv gone off the road because of the flashing in my eyes! Iv found this is a common issue but the dealer told me I cannot get it fixed even though it's been recalled under other trucks! This has almost killed me! Please all I'm asking is to fix this for me... I love this truck but I'm terrified to drive it now with this issue let alone get rid of it and God for bid someone else has an accident . Please help a ram fan pile on the miles with a safe vehicle.. thank you for your time, im sorry for the long message but this is very serious and obviously a safety issue . Again, iv gone off the road and avoided a very serious incident that was caused by a faulty part. I completly understand parts going bad and having to replace them out of pocket. NOTHING SHOULD WORK FINE ONE MINUTE AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN START STROBBING IN ANYONES FACE . Thank you again
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in reverse, the steering wheel became stiff, making it almost impossible to steer the vehicle. The power steering fault warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the electric power steering unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 26,220.
While driving, all the sudden the power steering went out and a Service Power Steering Warning Light came on. The steering became almost impossible to steer and I'm a big guy. This almost caused me to run the truck off the road but thankfully I was just making a turn after stopping at a stop sign and entering onto another street. Had there been a vehicle coming down the road, I would not have been able to avoid the collision. This was an extremely dangerous situation and thankfully I didn't have my wife and kid in the car and there wasn't any oncoming traffic. When I searched online, it appears that this is an ongoing issue and there haven't been any recalls. Something needs to be done as I feel unsafe and this is my primary driver.

The contact owned a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the ABS engaged unintendedly, and the front driver's side wheel locked up. The brake light was illuminated. The vehicle then spun into another lane, with the front end of the vehicle facing incoming traffic. Another vehicle then crashed into the front passenger's side end of the vehicle. The contact was knocked unconscious. The air bags deployed. The contact was transported to the hospital by emergency unit. The contact was informed that he had sustained a fractured vertebrae on the neck, a torn right shoulder, a fractured rib, dislocation of the rib cage on the right side, severe pain from the neck to the back, and bruises. The other driver sustained injuries, was assisted out of the vehicle by emergency units, and transported to the hospital. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard, where it was totaled. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 275,000.

The independent mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The dealer had been made aware of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,200.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) had failed and had propelled metal shavings into the fuel line. The dealer diagnosed that the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) and fuel system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that he would be charged for the repair because there was no date for when the parts would be available. The failure mileage was approximately 175,145. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Driving through Vermont from New Hampshire ,we took a winding road to get off the highway and going through a corner the trucks power steering locked up and i had to slow down and muscle it to the side of the road, scared the hell out of me. We went back to the highway, straight roads to get back home. It is at a dealer waiting for the parts, it has cost me a new battery so far, was checked the day before at Valvoline 13.5 volts. I am not liking the $ 4,000.00 + figure to fix it.
Our power steering comes and goes without warning. We did have zubek Tawas motors look at it , they say need to replace the steering assembly cost $2500, as the power steering pump is intragateed and not a solo unit, we researched and saw that we are not the only one having this problem
I am currently experiencing intermittent power steering failure, my 2014 Ram 1500 only has about 80k miles on the clock as I barely drive it. About 3 months ago I noticed heavy/slow steering, not totally failure, but more stiff than usual. About a month following that, I noticed intermittent steering loss, luckily I noticed the problem early and was able to respond accordingly. However, due to the steering being intermittent, it is unsafe to continue using the vehicle for the time being as there is no way to know when it will cut in and out meaning the vehicle can act unpredictably. Thankfully I have another vehicle to use, but looking at the repairs, it would probably cost me close to 2000 dollars and I would rather not pay for something that expensive unnecessarily.
Electronic steering failed. Would not engage. Would not reset. While there is a recall on certain vehicles, mine VIN show 0 recall incomplete. This is a known safety issue and I am having to pay out of pocket $4100.00
Over a year ago I received a recall for my 2014 Eco Diesel 1500 truck for Z46 recall for a high pressure fuel pump, I called numerous time for repair but was told the part was not available. On 6/29/2023 while traveling on the highway, the truck loss power and I had to make an emergency stop on the side of the road, with trucks and cars zipping pass me, I got there safely and called a tow truck. Vehicle was towed to Leith Dodge Ram, in Wendell, NC for repair. They told me the fuel pump exploded and there was shards in the engine. The Service Manager Doug Welch said it would be fixed as they are responsible because of the recall. They don't answer any messages I left and refuse to let me know when I will get my truck back. Please help!!! They need to fix it or replace it. Thank you in advance for your help
