WHILE LIVING IN VIRGINIA IN 2015, I PROCEEDED TO TAKE MY DODGE RAM IN TO CORRECT A DEFECTIVE WIRE HARNESS. RECALL NOTICE R36, NHTSA 15-459 NOTED 'THE STEERING WHEEL WIRE HARNESS ON YOUR VEHICLE MAY BECOME CHAFFED BY THE DRIVER AIRBAG MODULE RETAINER SPRING ENDS. A CHAFFED STEERING WHEEL WIRE HARNESS COULD CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL SHORT AND/OR AN INADVERTENT DRIVER AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. INADVERTENT DRIVER AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT, DURING CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS, MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH AND/OR VEHICLE OCCUPANT INJURY.' AFTER THAT RECALL WAS PERFORMED, I LOST ALL USE OF MY HORN, AND ELECTRICAL FEATURES INSTALLED ON THE STEERING WHEEL. I DROVE SEVERAL YEARS WITHOUT THESE FEATURES AND NEVER REALLY HAD TIME TO GET THIS EVALUATED BECAUSE OF MULTIPLE MILITARY DEPLOYMENTS. WE RELOCATED TO OHIO AND I DECIDED TO HAVE THE TRUCK EVALUATED AND BASICALLY THE RECALL WORK WAS NEVER CORRECTED BY FAIR OAKS CHANTILLY CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. ON JULY 8 THROUGH JULY 11, 2019, MY VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BY JEFF WYLER CHRYSLER, DODGE, JEEP IN BATAVIA, OHIO TO CORRECTED THE RECALL NOTICE R36, NHSTA 15-459. MY SERVICE MANAGER NOTED TO SUBMIT A CLAIM TO BE REIMBURSED FOR $403.78. THEY REACHED OUT TO CHRYSLER HEADQUARTERS FOR FURTHER CONSULTATION, HOWEVER, THEY NEVER RESPONDED TO MY SERVICE MANAGER.
2014 DODGE RAM TRUCK 1500. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE WIRING HARNESS. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER HAVING THE RECALL REPAIR COMPLETED ON THE STEERING WHEEL WIRE HARNESS, THE HORN AND ELECTRICAL FEATURES ON THE WHEEL FAILED. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE COST OF REPAIRING THE ELECTRICAL FAILURES DUE TO THE RECALL REPAIR. *JS
WE CAME HOME FROM A SHORT TRIP AND DISCOVERED TRAILER WAS RESTING ON TRUCK BED. IT TOWED FINE ON WAY HOME SO WE DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING UNTIL WE STOPPED TO PARK IT. WE CALLED A REPAIRMAN WHO REMOVED SKIN AND FOUND AT LEAST 9 BROKEN WELDS. HE SAID WE WERE LUCKY WE DIDN'T KILL SOMEONE. HE CALLED A WELDER TO LOOK AT IT. HE SAID THE FRONT PORTION AROUND HITCH WAS BUILT LIKE A MAC TRUCK BUT THE SECTION PAST THAT WAS BUILT LIKE TISSUE PAPER. THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH SUPPORT OR BRACING AND THAT AREA FLEXED BADLY. HE SAID WE WERE LUCKY IT DROPPED DOWN SLOWLY, IF IT HAD SLAMMED DOWN THERE COULD HAVE BEEN FATALITIES. *DT CONSUMER STATED BOTH REPAIRMAN AND WELDER SAID FAULTY WELDS THAT FAILED AND LACK OF SUPPORT.*JB*DT CONSUMER CALLED THE DEALER.*JB*DT*TR
COMPLETED AEM UPDATE WHICH PROMISED NO CHANGE IN PERFORMANCE. TRUCK IS NOW DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND DOES NOT MEET MY NEEDS, WHICH IS WHY I PURCHASED THE TRUCK. I NEARLY GET T-BONED PULLING IN OR ACROSS TRAFFIC. THE LAG IN THE TRUCK IS EXTREME. I OWN A 21 FOOT BOAT AND CAN BARELY PULL IT OUT OF MY 2 MILE DRIVEWAY THAT IS ON A SLIGHT HILL. TRUCK BOGS DOWN AND NEARLY STALLS. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE TRUCK AFTER THE UPDATE. *TR
THE TRUCK WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY WHEN THE BRAKES SUDDENLY WENT OUT. WE WERE ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE EXPRESSWAY AND TO A DEALERSHIP THAT WAS RIGHT THERE. SUBURBAN CHRYSLER DODGE. THEY INSPECTED IT AND FOUND A BOLT THAT HOLDS THE CALIPER IN PLACE BROKE AND THE CALIPER BECAME DISLODGED. IT JAMMED INTO THE ROTOR AND CAUSED ALL KINDS OF ISSUES.
EXAUST (CARBON MONOXIDE) LEAK: ON MY VEHICLE AND MANY OTHERS I HAVE HEARD, EITHER THE EXAUST MANIFOLD OR THE MANIFOLD BOLTS CRACK OR BREAK CAUSING A LEAK AND LOUD CLICKING NOISE. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE PASSENGER SIDE MANIFOLD UNDER MY WARRANTY BUT NOW THE DRIVERS SIDE HAS CRACKED OR BROKEN AND THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. THE NOISE STOPS AFTER WARMUP BUT HERE IS TILL A QUESTION OF HOW MUCH CARBON MONOXIDE LEAKAGE IS ACCEPTABLE UNTIL HE NOISE STOPS.
2014 RAM ECODIESEL. HAD THE EMISSIONS UPDATE DONE PER THE FCA CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REQUIREMENTS. AFTER THE UPDATE, MY TRUCK HAS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TURBO/THROTTLE LAG. THIS LAG CAN LAST ANYWHERE FROM 2-5 SECONDS. ADDITIONALLY, THE TRUCK WAS ADVERTISED AS 29 MPG ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER THE UPDATE, I AM SITTING AROUND 17 MPG. I HAVE LODGED A COMPLAINT WITH FCA AND AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR BACK. THIS IS NO LONGER AN EMISSIONS ISSUE, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I CAN GUARANTEE YOU IT WILL LEAD TO NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS AND POSSIBLY DEATH. A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH WILL SHOW THAT THIS ISSUE IS NOT UNIQUE TO MY ECODIESEL. ALMOST EVERY RAM AND JEEP THAT HAD THE EMISSIONS UPDATE IS DEALING WITH THE SAME SAFETY RISKS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE MISFIRED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO IDLE ROUGHLY, SHUDDER, AND EXHIBIT POOR ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LITHIA DODGE JEEP (5001 GRIZZLY CT, MISSOULA, MT) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD AND VALVE TRAIN WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: FCA-68094470, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONED TO MAKE A TURN AND DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND SURGED FORWARD. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE VIN WAS ASSOCIATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V757000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL DEALER PUEBLO DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM LOCATED AT 2147 US 50 WEST, PUEBLO, CO 81008, (719) 545-6666, AND WHERE THEY WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
WHEN DRIVING ON THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE AT 70MPH WHEN THE POWER STEERING ASSIST SHUT OFF. I PULLED OFF, RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND IT WAS WORKING AGAINST. CHECKED THE FLUID LEVELS AND EVERYTHING WAS OK. NO MORE INCIDENT THAT TRIP. TOOK TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED A FAULTY POWER STEERING MODULE IN THE EPS. REQUIRED REPLACEMENT IF THE ENTIRE STEERING RACK. *DT INVALID VIN*JB
WAS TRAVELING DOWN I485 IN CHARLOTTE NC. GOING TO BEACH. AN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRUCK HAS NO POWER. I HAVE NO PEDAL IT IS GONE . HAD TO GET IT OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AN STOPPED WITH WHITE SMOKE COMING OUT THE TAIL PIPES . IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP. THAT TIME . NEXTED TIME IT WAS THE EDGE VALVE AN SENCER . HAD NO PICK UP AN GO . EVERY SINCE THE V08 TUNE THIS TRUCK HAS BAD LAG LAG U CAN NOT SURE WHEN U R PULLING OUT OF AN INTERCEPTION IF U WILL GET OUT SAFE . THE LAG IS TERRIBLE . I LOVED THIS TRUCK UNTILL THE TUNE . BUT NOW CANT TRUST IT . GOT OT TO PULL CAMPER BUT DONT TRUST IT NOW WILL NOT OWN ANOTHER RAM ECO OR ANY THING ELSE .
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN GEAR THEN STOPPED AND PLACED IN PARK BUT NOT SHUT OFF IT WILL NOT GO BACK INTO GEAR. THIS STARTED THE END OF JUNE 2019. IT HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST SEVEN TIMES. IT HAS OCCURRED IN DRIVEWAYS, PARKING LOTS, AND LANDSCAPE AND LUMBER YARDS. AT THE YARDS IT BLOCKED ONCOMING TRAFFIC.IT HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS HALF WAY INTO OUR STREET FROM OUR DRIVEWAY WHERE VEHICLES HAD TO DRIVE AROUND THE TRUCK. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN INJURY THE DODGE DEALER RAN THREE CHECKS ON THE TRUCK AND TOLD US THE PROBLEM NEVER REGISTERS ON THEIR COMPUTER NOR COULD THEY GET THE PROBLEM TO REPLICATE. AFTER MANY COMPLAINTS THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE SHIFTER CONTROLLER. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN WITHIN AN HOUR AFTER THE ATTEMPTED REPAIR. WE HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WHERE WE DRIVE THE VEHICLE SO WE SO NOT PUT OURSELVES IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. WE COULD NOT BE ASSURE THE VEHICLE WOULD FO INTO GEAR WHEN DOING A THREE POINT TURN. WE HAVE A VIDEO OF THIS PROBLEM BUT I COULD NOT GET IT TO COPY.
APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, I STEP ON THE BRAKES THEN VEHICLE WENT INTO A SLOW COAST MODE. ( A RED SIGN TURNED ON, INDICATING AN "ELECTRICAL BRAKE" ISSUE). THEN INDICATES "SWITCH GEAR TO PARK", SOON AFTER PROCEEDED AS NORMAL. THE NEXT DAY AS I WAS STOP ON A DRIVE THRU, SAME INDICATION OCCUR, ENGINE POWER WENT OFF THEN "ELECTRICAL BRAKE" , NEXT THING WAS "SWITCH GEAR TO PARK" RESUMING TO NORMAL OPERATION. VERY CONCERN ABOUT THIS IT IS MY ONLY FORM OF TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM DOCTORS VISIT, IT HAS ABOUT 46,000 MILES ON IT, VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF. WOULD NOT WANT IT TO FAIL ON ME AT A MIDDLE OF AN INTERCEPTION. IN BETWEEN THESE EVENTS, THEIR IS NO LIGHT THAT APPEARS. IS THIS A RECALL ISSUE THAT CAN BE ADDRESS IMMEDIATELY PLEASE THANK YOU.
AFTER HAVING THE AEM UPDATE COMPLETED, I LOST 5MPG IN FUEL ECONOMY (FROM 23 MPG COMBINED, TO 18 MPG COMBINED), I ALSO AM EXPERIENCING AN INCREDIBLY UNSAFE AMOUNT OF ACCELERATION LAG (4-6 SECONDS). WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC TRAVELLING AT 40+MPH, THIS LAG IN ACCELERATION CAUSES ME TO ROLL INTO TRAFFIC WITH NO POWER OR ABILITY TO ACCELERATE UNTIL THE ENGINE DECIDES TO KICK IN.THIS LAG IN ACCELERATION IS THE BIGGEST CONCERN AS THE DURATION OF LAG IS INCONSISTENT AND UNPREDICTABLE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE AND AM NOT CONFIDENT IN IT'S PERFORMANCE ANYMORE. I, LIKE MANY OTHER OWNERS WOULD LIKE TO GET RID OF THIS TRUCK. I THINK FCA SHOULD TAKE BAKE THE TRUCK BECUASE IT HAS BECOME A FINANCIAL/SAFETY NIGHTMARE. AS OF JANUARY 2019, I HAVE SPENT OVER $7000 ON THE EXHAUST SYSTEM PRIOR TO THE AEM UPDATE COMING OUT (EGR COOLER CLOGGED, TURBO HOSES BAD, ETC.) LUCKLIY, I JUST HAD THE EGR COOLER REPLACED UNDER THE NEW WARRANTY BUT THE DRIVABILITY (GOOD FUEL ECONOMY AND POWER) IS NO LONGER PRESENT. IF THIS TRUCK FUNCTIONED LIKE THIS WHEN I FIRST TEST DROVE IT, I WOULD NEVER HAVE BOUGHT IT.
CRUISE CONTROL WON'T TURN ON. I'VE READ THAT IF I WAS ABLE TO TURN IT ON IT MIGHT NOT DISENGAGE.
WHILE DRIVING THROUGH WEST VIRGINIA, PULLING MY SAILBOAT, I GOT A "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT; AS I WAS COMING UP TO THE BECKLEY SERVICE AREA, I DECIDED TO STOP, FIND AN AUTO PARTS STORE AND GET THE CODE READ. JUST AS I WAS ENTERING THE SERVICE AREA, I LOST POWER, SIMULTANEOUSLY HAVING THE DASHBOARD FLASH A "TPS SENSOR" WARNING, AS I DESCENDED INTO THE REST AREA, I REALIZED THAT I HAD ALSO LOST MY BRAKES (BUT NOT THE TRAILER BRAKES) AND THEN, WHILE COASTING INTO THE PARKING LOT, A WV TURNPIKE PU PULLED ALONGSIDE WITH THE DRIVER GESTICULATING AT ME, YELLING THAT I NEEDED TO GET OUT OF MY TRUCK, IT WAS ON FIRE. IMMEDIATELY UPON STOPPING, THE FRONT END BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES, ULTIMATELY BURNING COMPLETELY UP.
AFTER RECEIVING THE EPA MANDATED EMISSIONS UPDATE KNOWN AS AEM (V08) I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING AN UNSAFE AMOUNT OF LAG FROM THE TIME THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED TO THE TIME THE TRUCK ACTUALLY BEGINS TO ACCELERATE. AT TIMES, I CAN COUNT TO 5 SECONDS BEFORE THE TRUCK BEGINS TO MOVE FORWARD. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND DOWNRIGHT UNSAFE. FCA IS STAYING THAT THE LAG IS AS THE SOFTWARE INTENDED IT TO BE. WHEN THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED IT WAS NOT AT ALL LIKE THIS, AFTER BEING FORCED BY THE EPA & THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO GET THIS UPDATE MY TRUCK IS NOW NEARLY INOPERABLE DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. I REFUSE TO PUT MY FAMILY IN THIS VEHICLE AS IT IN COMPLETELY UNPREDICTABLE AND UNRELIABLE. PLEASE STEP UP AND FORCED FCA TO FIX THIS TERRIBLE MISTAKE THEY MADE. YOU MAY END UP SAVING SOMEONE'S LIFE.
LOST ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING CANNOT STEER TRUCK
OIL FILTER ADAPTER OIL LEAK DEALER REPLACED ONE SEAL .CONTINUES TO LEAK LESS. PENTASTAR V6 DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACE OIL ADAPTER. FIRE HAZARD. BELL HOUSING AND TRANSMISSION PAN SOAKED WITH MOTOR OIL.
IT STARTED OUT AS FLASHING INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND WIPERS RUNNING AND ENGINE WOULDN'T START. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND NOTHING WAS FOUND WRONG. MADE TWO MORE TRIPS FOR THE SAME THING UNTIL THEY SAID ANTS HAD GOTTEN INTO IT AND CHEWED ON THE WIRING INSTALLATION. THE HARNESS WAS REPLACED BUT NO EVIDENCE OF IT BEING REPLACED (ORIGINAL FACTORY TORQUE MARKINGS STILL VISIBLE). LESS THAN A YEAR LATER THE ELECTRICAL IS STILL NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE CRUISE CONTROL BUTTON IS INTERMITTENT AT BEST. THIS MORNING THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START AGAIN AND THIS TIME IT HAD TO BE TOWED IN. STILL WAITING ON RESULTS.
I WAS EXITING THE VEHICLE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AND I HAD PUT IT INTO PARK, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WENT INTO REVERSE.I STEPPED OUT OF THE TRUCK AND WAS KNOCKED OVER MY LEGS WERE UNDER THE TRUCK I MANAGED TO GET THEM,OUT FROM UNDER THE TRUCK,THE EDGE OF THE FRONT WHEEL CAUGHT MY RIGHT FOOT PULLING THE SNEAKER OFF AND SPRAINING MY ANKLE. THE DOOR CAUGHT MY HEAD AND SPLIT IT OPEN. I HAD TO GO TO THE ER FOR MEDICAL ATTENTION. I WAS THE ONLY ONE WITH INJURIES AS NO ONE ELSE WAS INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT.THE TRUCK CONTINUED IN REVERSE AND RAN INTO A BOX VAN WITH A LIFT GATE. IT CAUSED ABOUT $6000 DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK THERE SEEMS TO BE NUMEROUS INCIDENTS OF PROBLEMS WITH THE ROTARY GEAR SHIFT ON THESE TRUCKS WHERE THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IN PARK AND THE TRUCK WENT INTO REVERSE. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL.
ON 06/12/2019, I HAD THE V08 RECALL (AEM MODIFICATION UPDATE) DONE ON MY 2014 RAM 1500 ECODIESEL. THIS RECALL WAS REQUIRED AS PART OF AN EMISSIONS RELATED LAWSUIT. FCA ADVISED THAT THE UPDATED SOFTWARE IS NOT EXPECTED TO CHANGE ANY OF THE VEHICLES ATTRIBUTES TO INCLUDE VEHICLE PERFORMANCE, DRIVEABILITY, AND FUEL ECONOMY. AFTER HAVING THE RECALL WORK DONE, I HAVE NOTICED A SERIOUS CONCERN REGARDING THE ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE FROM A STOP (ESPECIALLY WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD OR NOT FULLY WARMED UP). WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THERE IS A DELAY IN THE ACCELERATION WHICH I CAN BEST DESCRIBE AS FEELING LIKE "SEVERE TURBO LAG." WHEN TRYING TO CROSS A BUSY INTERSECTION OR TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC, IF YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY, THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESPOND LIKE IT DID PRIOR TO THE RECALL WORK. AFTER PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR HARDER AND GETTING THROUGH THE LAG IN ACCELERATION, THE TURBO FINALLY KICKS IN AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES QUICKLY BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO BASICALLY "FLOOR IT." I ALSO NOTICED WHEN DRIVING UP AN INCLINE AND STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN, WHILE CONTINUING GRADUALLY UP THE INCLINE THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESPOND TO LIGHT/GRADUAL PRESSING OF THE ACCELERATOR. PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR HARDER CAUSES THE TURBO TO KICK IN AND THE VEHICLE TO DOWNSHIFT WHICH CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY . ON 06/26/2019, THE DEALERSHIP TESTED IT AND TEST DROVE IT FOR 12 MILES AND NOTING THAT THEY "DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANYTHING ABNORMAL WHEN COMPARED TO LIKE VEHICLES" AND "VEHICLE PERFORMING AS DESIGNED." MY WIFE AND I CONTINUED TO NOTICE THE SAME ISSUES AND I CONTACTED FCA AGAIN. THEY SAID THEY WOULD DOCUMENT IT AND SAID THAT I COULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AGAIN. I TOLD THEM THAT I WAS NOT GOING TO WASTE MY TIME AND REITERATED THAT THIS ISSUE WAS CLEARLY A RESULT OF THE UPDATE. FCA CLOSED MY COMPLAINT.
1. HAD TO REPLACE THE EXHAUST SYTEM BECAUSE THE AUTOMATIC EXHAUST STOPPED WORKING AFTER TOWING THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER TO CREATE A FORCED REGEN 2. REPLACED 2 TURBOS 3. AFTER EMISSION RECALL WAS COMPLETED, ENGINE WAS LOOSING ANTIFREEZE AND OVERHEATED. ADDED ANTIFREEZE SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN THE ENGINE STARTED BLOWING WHITE SMOKE, ENGINE KNOCKING LIKE A LOOSE CRANK OR ROCKER ARM TRUCK LOST COMPLETE POWER. THE TRUCK WAS DELIVERED TO RAM DEALER IN RIVERHEAD, AFTER SPENDING 1600 DOLLARS FOR ENGINE DIAGNOSIS, WHICH WAS CLEAR APPARENT TO ANYONE , THE SAID ENGINE WAS NO GOOD.
THE POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY ONTO OUR STREET RESULTING IN INABILITY TO STEER THE TRUCK EFFECTIVELY. A WARNING LIGHT APPEARED & I HAD TO LOOK ONLINE TO SEE WHAT IT MEANT AS THE MANUAL DID NOT HAVE IT. I HAD TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED TO PUEBLO DODGE & SERVICE ADVISOR LESLIE LATER NOTIFIED ME OF A $2,300 COST TO REPAIR THE RACK & PINION TO GET THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WORKING AGAIN. I HAVE LEARNED THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2014 RAM 1500 P/U'S IN EVEN MORE HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS ON THE ROAD/STREET. IT HAS ABOUT 46,000 MILES ON IT. I AM TOLD THAT THERE IS NO RECOURSE BY THE CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SVC REP ERNESHA BUT SHE WILL FILE MY COMPLAINT. IT WILL NOT GO ANY FURTHER THAN THAT AS SHE SAYS IT IS NOT WORTHY AND OUT OF THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY. LESLIE SAYS IT IS NOT PART OF THE 100,000 MILE DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY. I WAS CONSIDERING PURCHASING A NEW RAM TRUCK AS WELL BUT ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT BASED ON THIS EXPERIENCE AS I WILL APPARENTLY HAVE TO PAY AT LEAST $2,300 TO REPAIR A HAZARDOUS DEFECT IN A RELATIVELY NEW VEHICLE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION OTHERWISE. I AM OBVIOUSLY VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS COMPANY AND SITUATION.
THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DECELERATES FOR A FEW SECONDS WHILE DRIVING WHICH CAUSES LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. VERY UNSAFE CONDITION. POTENTIAL TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THIS ISSUE HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. ONCE APPROX A MONTH AGO AT ~94000 MILES AND THEN TWICE ON JUNE 8, AT APPROX 97000 MILES.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSISTANT AT LOW SLOW SPEEDS CUTS IN AND OUT MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO HANDLE THE TRUCK. TRUCK HAS 51,000 MILES ONLY AND IS A 2014 I SEE THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON A YEAR LATER MODEL OF THE TRUCK BUT NOT ON MY VEHICLE.
I HAD THE RECENT RECALL COMPLETED AT MY LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP AND AM NOW SCARED TO DRIVE MY TRUCK AS THERE IS CONSIDERABLE "LAG" UPON ACCELERATION. THIS IS A LIFE SAFETY ISSUE AS I WAS ALMOST STRUCK BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THEY STATED THE RECALL DID NOT AFFECT PERFORMANCE BUT IT HAS DEFINITELY AFFECTED PERFORMANCE. I BROUGHT IT BECK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY IT WAS DOING WHAT IT WAS DOING AND INSTEAD SAID I NEED TO CHANGE MY OIL THAT OF WHICH I CHANGED 2000 MILES AGO AND ALSO TRY AN INJECTOR CLEANER. MY FUEL MILEAGE HAS ALSO DECREASED FROM 25 OR 26 MPG HWY TO 20 MPG HWY.
MY VEHICLE HAS TREMENDOUS LAG WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, BUT IT IS NOT ALL THE TIME. I NEVER KNOW WHEN PULLING OUT INTO A ROAD AT A LEFT HAND TURN IF I AM GOING TO GET THROTTLE RESPONSE OR A DEAD PETAL. TOO MANY TIMES NOT I HAVE BEEN STUCK WITH TREMENDOUS LAG AND ALMOST REAR ENDED BY VEHICLES WHILE TURNING ONTO A ROAD. THIS WAS NEVER AN ISSUE UNTIL A FORCED "FIX" FOR A RECALL ON THE ECODIESEL ENGINE. UPON INITIAL ACCELERATION SOMETIMES THERE IS A 1-2 SECOND LAG BEFORE THE VEHICLE EVEN SEEMS TO ACCELERATE AT ALL. MY MILE PER GALLON HAS DROPPED SEVERAL POINTS AND DEF IS BEING OVER CONSUMED. I DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE TRUCK WILL ACCELERATE OR JUST LAG OUT ON ME. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS A MOTOR OR TRANSMISSION OR NONE OF THE ABOVE ISSUE. I DO KNOW THAT MANY PEOPLE WITH THE "AEM FIX" FOR THE RECALLED RAMS IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT SEEM SAFE TO DRIVE TO TO ITS UNPREDICTABILITY WITH ACCELERATION. FROM A COLD START, THE VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY SLUGGISH FOR SEVERAL MINUTES OR MILES, AND THAT IS IN THE WARM CA SUN.... I AM WAITING FOR THE VEHICLE TO NOT WORK AT ALL. HAD TO REPLACE DRIVERS SIDE SEATBELT IN 2016 AT 22567 MILES. NO COST AS UNDER WARRANTY. HAD TO REPLACE SAME SEATBELT 2019 AT 83860. WAS CHARGED $277.78 FOR THIS. IN COMPLAINING TO FCA THEY SAID SEATBELT SHOULD HAVE BEEN UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY MAY REFUND MY CHARGES. BUT WHY DID A SEATBELT FAIL TWICE IN 5 YEARS? SEAT BELT WILL NOT ENGAGE IN THE RECEIVER BOTH TIMES
ON JUNE THE 5TH 2019 MY ECODIESEL RECALL WAS PERFORMED AT THE DEALER. IT WAS PART OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. THREE DAYS LATER THE TRUCK STARTED RUNNING BAD. IT HAS DEAD FUEL PEDAL AND LOSS OF POWER. I BROUGHT IT BACK FOR A SECOND TIME TO HAVE THE RECALL PREFORMED AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM AS OF NOW. EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BROKEN CAUSING AN EXHAUST LEAK AT START UP.
I HAVE A 2014 RAM 1500 WITH THE 3.0L ECODIESEL ENGINE. AFTER RECEIVING THE V08 EMISSIONS RECALL, I AM EXPERIENCING EXCESSIVE TURBO LAG/SLOW ACCELERATION WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. IT IS BAD ENOUGH THAT I AM FORCED TO STEP ON THE THROTTLE JUST TO GET THE VEHICLE THROUGH INTERSECTIONS OR WHEN MERGING ON HIGHWAYS. IT WAS NOT LIKE THIS PRIOR TO THE V08 EMISSIONS RECALL CAMPAIGN AND THE ACCELERATION LAG HAS ALMOST CAUSED A COUPLE.ACCIDENTS AS THE TRUCK WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE OUT OF SITUATIONS IN WHICH IT USED TO HAVE NO PROBLEMS PRIOR TO THE V08 RECALL.
FCA WAS RECENTLY INVOLVED IN AN EMISSIONS SCANDAL. THE REQUIRED UPDATE (AEM) THAT HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED TO SATISFY THE EPA HAS LEFT THE TRUCK DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THROTTLE RESPONSE IS TERRIBLE, LEAVING A 5 TO 6 SECOND DELAY BEFORE ANY POWER IS GAINED. THE TRANSMISSION WONT DOWNSHIFT GOING THROUGH ROUNDABOUTS, CREATING A HAZARD AS THE TRUCK WILL NOT ACCELERATE. FREEWAY DRIVING HAS THE TRUCK HANGING IN 7TH GEAR, BARELY SHIFTING INTO 8TH. MILEAGE HAS DROPPED 3MPG, CONSISTENTLY. IN THE HASTE TO SATISFY THE EPA, FCA HAS PUT THOUSANDS OF DANGEROUS, UNDER PERFORMING VEHICLES ON THE HIGHWAY. MANY PEOPLE ARE SEEING FAILURES IN THE EMISSIONS COMPONENTS ON THE VEHICLES SINCE THE UPDATE, INCLUDING ME. I AM SCHEDULING MY INTAKE MANIFOLD AND EGR COOLER REPLACEMENT AS I TYPE THIS... WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE, ON A TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION MY STEERING WHEEL WOULD JERK BACK THE OPPOSITE WAY. THIS WAS A SUDDEN ONSET WITHOUT WARNING. EVENTUALLY IT LED TO BARELY BEING ABLE TO TURN THE TRUCK AT ALL. NO SERVICE LIGHTS WERE ON, DEALER SAID THAT IT WOULD EVENTUALLY GO OUT AND NOT BE ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE. MINE IS A 2014, THERE WAS A 2018 IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALER. DEALER HAD ALSO HAD 4 OTHER TRUCKS (SAME MODEL) IN THE SHOP WITHIN THE LAST FEW WEEKS AND THE PART WAS ON BACKORDER. DEALER HAD NO INFORMATION ON A RECALL BUT IF THIS IS HAPPENING IN 2018 MODELS AND THE DEALER HAS THEM IN TO BE WORKED ON IN LARGE NUMBERS THIS CLEARLY SAYS THERE IS SOMETHING GOING ON. IT IS UNSAFE AND DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING NOT KNOWING WHEN IT IS GOING TO LOCK UP. I KNOW MY TRUCK HAS OVER 100,000 MILES BUT THERE ARE 2018 IN THERE THAT BARELY HAVE ANY ON THEM.
SERVICE AIRBAG SYSTEM MESSAGE KEEPS COMING UP. THIS OCCURS WHILE STATIONARY, IN MOTION, ALL THE TIME.
2014 RAM ECODIESEL - I RECENTLY HAD MY AEM RECALL COMPLETED AT AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WITH THE PROMISE THAT PERFORMANCE AND FUEL MILEAGE WOULD NOT BE AFFECTED. NOT ONLY WERE THEY BOTH NEGATIVELY AFFECTED, THEY WERE AFFECTED TO THE POINT OF A SAFETY CONCERN. MY GAS MILEAGE GOING DOWN BY OVER 5MPG IS NOTHING COMPARED TO ALMOST GETTING T-BONED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC DUE TO EXTENSIVE TURBO LAG (2-3 SECONDS) AFTER THE AEM WAS COMPLETED. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE WHEN I GO TO MAKE A LEFT TURN FROM A DEAD STOP, PRESS THE ACCELERATOR, AND THE TRUCK JUST SITS THERE. LUCKILY THERE HAS BEEN A SHOULDER FOR ME TO SWERVE INTO TO GET OUT OF THE WAY FROM BEING REAR-ENDED. THE 0-60 TIME WHILE ENTERING THE FREEWAY ON RAMP IS ALSO CAUSE FOR CONCERN. MULTIPLE TIMES I HAVE HAD A FELLOW DRIVE LAY ON THEIR HORN BECAUSE THE TRUCK JUST CANNOT GAIN SPEED FAST ENOUGH. NOW, IF I WERE GETTING BETTER GAS MILEAGE WITH THE DECREASE IN PERFORMANCE, THAT WOULD BE ONE THING. BUT TO GET SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE GAS MILEAGE AND HAVE THIS DEATH BOX NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED IS JUST AWFUL. FCA HAS LIED TO THEIR CONSUMERS WITH THIS UPDATE AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAVE THAT RECALL INSTALLED ON VEHICLES.

ON 5/23/19 I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALER WHERE I'D BOUGHT IT NEW TO FIX A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT WAS ON.AFTER THE ISSUE WAS FOUND AND REPAIRED, I PICKED THE TRUCK UP AND WAS TOLD A TRANS UPDATE(RECALL # U07) WAS ALSO DONE. AS SOON AS I PULLED INTO LIGHT TRAFFIC,I NOTICED THE THROTTLE PEDAL WAS UNRESPONSIVE AND THE TRUCK WAS SLUGGISH AND SLOW TO ACCELERATE.IT ALSO SHIFTED UP AND DOWN A LOT MORE THEN IT NORMALLY DOES ALL THE WAY HOME.I THOUGHT MAYBE THE TRANS HAD TO RE LEARN IT'S SHIFT PATTERN AND WOULD GET BETTER AFTER I PUT SOME MILES ON IT JUST AS IT DID WHEN NEW. OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL WEEKS IT DIDN'T GET ANY BETTER AND PULLING ONTO THE STATE HIGHWAY FROM A TOWN ROAD HAS LEAD TO SOME CLOSE CALLS AS IT'IS A LIMITED SIGHT STOP SIGN INTERSECTION. I HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY TIME I GO TO WORK OR LEAVE MY HOUSE FOR ANY OTHER REASON. THIS IS NOT A ONE TIME HAPPENING BUT EVERY TIME I NEED TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC OR GET UP TO SPEED QUICKLY. AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS I FIGURED OUT SOMETHING WAS WRONG AND THE TRUCK WASN'T GOING TO GET BETTER ON IT'S OWN,I CALLED THE DEALER TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT AND CHECK IT OUT.I ALSO ASKED IF I COULD HAVE THE EPA MANDATED AEM(RECALL #V08) FLASH PERFORMED AT THE SAME TIME AND WAS GIVEN AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEK. A FEW MINUTES LATER THE DEALER'S SERVICE MANAGER CALLED BACK AND INFORMED ME THE AEM UPDATE HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED ON THE 5/23/19 SERVICE VISIT AND THE CHANGE(LOSS) IN PERFORMANCE WAS MOST LIKELY THE RESULT. SINCE I WAS UNAWARE THE AEM UPDATE HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED,I KNEW THE LOSS IN PERFORMANCE WASN'T MY IMAGINATION. I ALSO NOTICED A LOSS OF ABOUT 15% FUEL MPG AND THE TRANS.SHIFTS UP AND DOWN A LOT MORE WHICH IS MORE OF AN AGGRAVATION THEN A SAFETY ISSUE. I WISH THE TRUCK COULD PERFORM AS IT DID BEFORE THE AEM UPDATE AS WAS PROMISED BY FCA AND ALSO BE EMISSION COMPLIANT. I THOUGHT I KNEW WHAT I WAS GETTING.

THE FAILURES OCCURRED FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BAXTER JEEP/RAM/CHRYSLER (7713 S 19TH STREET, BELLEVIEW, NE 68147) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HARNESS FOR THE STEERING COLUMN WAS SHORTING OUT AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
FCA IS NOT VERY HELPFUL AND THE DEALER THAT I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK FROM DENIED SERVICE AFTER SEEING THERE WAS AN ENGINE LIGHT ON. I HAVE IT IN ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH IT AND THEY ARE SAYING THE INTAKE MANIFOLD IS MELTED FROM THE EGR BEING STUCK OPEN. I BELIEVE THE EGR VALVE HAS TO DO WITH EMISSIONS AND THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS BUT YET THEY WANT THE 5300 TO FIX IT.
SINCE THE LAST RECALL, THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD A MAJOR DELAY WHEN HITTING THE GAS PEDAL. THIS HAS ALMOST CAUSED MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS DUE TO LACK OF POWER WHEN HITTING THE GAS PEDAL.
MY TRUCK WAS RECALLED FOR AN EMISSION RECALL,V08.ALL THE ISSUES STARTED AFTER THAT. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING IT HAS NO POWER BETWEEN 1000-2200 RPM. IT HESITATES WHEN THE THROTTLE IS APPLIED. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN ACCELERATING, IN THE CITY AND ON THE HIGHWAY. IT DOES THIS EVEN AFTER IT IS WARMED UP. WHEN TOWING A BOAT IT IS VERY BAD. IT CAN HARDLY PULL THE BOAT UP THE RAMP. IT IS A SAFETY AND PERFORMANCE ISSUE.
IN MAY I BROUGHT MY TRUCK INTO MY LOCAL RAM DEALERSHIP FOR A MANDATORY RECALL FOR THE ECODIESEL ENGINE SYSTEM AS PART OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT WITH THE EPA. THE TRUCK RECEIVED BATCH OF NEW SOFTWARE THAT SIGNIFICANTLY DAMAGED ITS ABILITY TO ACCELERATE SAFELY FROM A STOP. THERE IS CURRENTLY A 2-4 SECOND DELAY BETWEEN MY PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, AND RECEIVING A RESPONSE FROM THE ENGINE. THIS HAS LED TO NEAR MISSES, AS THE DELAY ISN'T ALWAYS PREDICTABLE. IT IS WORSE STARTING FROM A STOP HEADING UPHILL. THIS DELAY IS WHOLLY A PART OF THE RECALL INSTALLED ON MY VEHICLE IN MAY. IT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED THIS TYPE OF DELAY PRIOR TO THE SERVICE. THE VEHICLE ALSO SUFFERS FROM DELAYED RESPONSE WHILE MOVING, BUT THIS IS A SECOND OR TWO, AND CAN BE PREDICTED AND ACCOUNTED FOR. THE DELAY FROM START IS ABYSMAL, AND UNSAFE. MY LIFE, AND THE LIVES OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS, HAVE BEEN PLACED AT RISK DUE TO FCA'S INABILITY TO MEET EMISSION REQUIREMENTS WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE SAFE OPERATION OF MY VEHICLE. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, DEALERS KNOW ABOUT THE ISSUES, AND THE ECODIESELS ARE BRINGING EXTREMELY LOW TRADE-IN VALUE. I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THIS TRUCK IN THE FIRST PLACE IF IT DROVE THE WAY IT IS TODAY.
VEHICLE HAD WELL KNOW LIFTER FAILER INSIDE A 5.7L HEMI. THE FAILURE CAUSED A CAM SHAFT NOTCH TO BE PLACED IN THE LOBBY OF THE SHAFT. VEHICLE STILL HAS FACTORY WARRANTY BUT FACTORY OEM PARTS THAT ARE KNOW TO FAIL WE'RE PUT BACK IN. MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN DUE TO POSSIBLE MOTOR FAILURE WHILE DRIVING LOOSING ALL POWER TO VEHICLE AND HARDNING OF BREAKING SYSTEM.
TAKATA RECALL WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK THE ROTARY KNOB WOULD SPIN BACK AND FORTH AND WOULDN'T MOVE OUT OF PARK. IT STATED SERVICE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER. I DICONNECTED THE BATTERY AND RECONNECTED IT. VERY QUICKLY I MOVED IT INTO DRIVE AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK INTO DRIVE AND IN MOTION . SHORTLY AFTER AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED FROM DRIVE INTO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN CAUSING THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE TO ACCELERATE AND ONCE I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY MANEUVER IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND IT WAS STUCK IN PARK. I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP IN BUFORD, GA FOR FURTHER EVALUATION. THEY HAVE STATED IT WAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH A CODE IN THE COMPUTER.
I BELIEVE WHEN MY TRUCK WAS IN FOR THE LAST RECALL THE DEALER SAID THEY NEEDED TO FLASH MY TIPM AND NO 8M HAVING STARTING ISSUES WITH MY TRUCK . THIS WILL BE THE FIFTH TIME MY TRUCK HAS HAD ISSUES AND NOT REALLY TRUSTING DODGE RIGHT NOW.
FUEL SENSOR IS WRECKED AT UNDER 50K MILES. THE FUEL GAUGE WILL SUDDENLY GO TO 0 WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON IMMEDIATELY AFTER LAST GAS FILL. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR RAMS, FAULTY PRODUCT BY FAULTY MANUFACTURING.
TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE A 2014 RAM 1500 AND THE FUEL SENSOR WENT OUT ON IT WITH ONLY 18000 MILES. UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS PAST THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY COVERAGE SO IT'S NOT COVERED BY THE DEALERSHIP. UPON RESEARCH, I HAVE LEARNED THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE REPORTED BY MANY RAM OWNERS. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND I FEEL IT IS A A SAFETY THREAT SINCE YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH GAS IS IN YOUR VEHICLE. THIS COULD LEAD THE DRIVER TO BEING STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND UNSAFE. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THAT THIS GETS TURNED INTO A RECALL. I REFUSE TO PAY OVER $1000 TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED JUST SO CHRYSLER CAN MAKE MORE MONEY ON NON-RELIABLE EQUIPMENT. THE VEHICLE CAN EITHER BE STATIONARY OR IN MOTION WHEN THE FUEL SENSOR HAS FAILED.
