RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FCA, TITLED, APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION DISCLOSURE 3.0L DIESEL. TOOK LETTER AND VISITED DODGE DEALER, THEY DID NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE LETTER AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT A RECALL NUMBER. I HAVE SINCE MONITORED MOTOR FOR ANY SIGNS OF OVERHEATING OR LOSS OF COOLING FLUID. THE TRUCK CONTINUES TO HAVE LOW GAS MILEAGE, SHIFTS HARD AND AT HIGH RPM. WHEN FIRST STARTED IS SLUGGISH AND I HAVE TO DRIVE CAUTIOUSLY AS IT HESITATED ON TAKE OFF.
WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP THE TRANSMISSION CONDUCTS A HARSH DOWN SHIFT FROM 3RD GEAR TO 2ND AND OR 2ND TO 1ST GEAR. I FEEL THAT THIS WILL CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION EVENTUALLY WEAR DOWN. DODGE MECHANICS SAY THERE ARE NOT FAULT CODES.
AFTER THE V08 RECALL AEM UPDATE, THE TRUCK HAS NO POWER WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP
RAM PERFORMED RECALL UPDATE V08 TO THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM ON THIS VEHICLE TO BECOME COMPLAINT WITH FEDERAL EMISSIONS. AFTER THE UPDATE THERE IS A 3 SECOND DELAY IN THROTTLE RESPONSE. THIS GENERALLY OCCURS WHILE THE TRUCK IS STOPPED AND IS TAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS ALMOST RESULTED IN A COUPLE ACCIDENTS. RECALL V08 WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO EFFECT FUEL ECONOMY, BUT POST RECALL I LOST 6MPG.
HAD THE V08 DONE TO MY TRUCK ON MAY 14. THE LAG IN THE TAKE OFF WHEN U R STOPPED IS GOING TO KILL SOMEBODY. WHEN U GIVE IT GAS IT HAS A BAD SLOW START AT LEAST 3 -5 SECONDS BEFORE U HAVE THE GET UP AN GO AN WHEN U DO IT IS LIKE A ROCKET . DIDNT DO THIS BEFORE THE V08 TUNE. AN THE RPMS R UP ALMOST TO 1 AN IT SETTING STILL . THIS VO8 IS A JOKE . IT HAS MESSED UP MY TRUCK . NO GOOD TRYING TO PULL A CAMPER . OR EVEN PULL OUT WITH OUT A BIG SPACE TO DO IT IN .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT DID NOT FIND A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BOLTS TO THE MANIFOLD WERE DETACHED ON BOTH SIDES AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO 1-10 CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (LOCATED AT 79200 VERNER RD, INDIO, CA 92203, (760) 345-1000). THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED AND THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,833. *BF CONSUMER STATED I HAD COMPUTER COMPONENTS (RECALLED) REPLACED DUE TO THE SHIFTER COMING OUT OF GEAR. I FEEL THAT CAUSED TRANSMISSION DAMAGE WHICH I HAD NOTIFIED 1-10 CHRYSLER DODGE ABOUT. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION AT THIS TIME. I HAD THE MANIFOLD AND THE BOTS REPLACED.*JB
FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. THIS RESULTED IN THE ACTIVATION OF THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP AND LOW FUEL MESSAGE. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT FCA IS WELL AWARE OF WITH THOUSANDS OF REPORTED CASES ONLINE.
DRIVING ON HWY 17 DOWN A RAMP, THROTTLE SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON AND TRUCK STALLED OUT. RESTARTED TRUCK TO PULL OFF HWY/RAMP TO SAFER LOCATION, NOTICED THICK BL SMOKE BILLOWING OUT FROM UNDER HOOD. PULLED INTO PARKING LOT, LIFTED HOOD TO SEE FLAMES COMING OFF ENGINE. BYSTANDER CALLED 911 WHILE I GOT A BUCKET OF WATER. THREW BUCKET OF WATER ONTO ENGINE WHILE POLICE AND FIRE DEPT FINISHED EXTINGUISHING. FIRE DEPT STATED THEY HAVE SEEN A FEW ECO FIRES. TOWED TO HENDRICK'S, CONTACTED RAM. RAM STATED NO NEED TO CONTACT INS CO (THEY WILL HANDLE IT). THOUGHT THIS WAS STRANGE, CONTACTED INS CO ANYWAYS. INSPECTED BY 2 FIRE SPECIALISTS, INS CO AND RAM. INS CO STATED MANUFACT DEFECT, RAM STATED LEAKY INJECTOR (WHICH WERE REPLACED BY RAM 18K MI PRIOR AT DEALERSHIP). I SUSTAINED SMOKE INHALATION AND 1ST DEGREE BURNS TO FACE,NECK,LT ARM AND HAD/HAVE HEADACHES. TRUCK WAS STILL UNDER 100K WARRANTY WITH ONLY 40K. RAM DENIED OPENED CLAIM AND WARRANTY. INS CO TOTALED TRUCK OUT, THEY STILL HAVE AN OPEN CLAIM AGAINST RAM. ADDITIONALLY RAM DENYING MY EMISSIONS SETTLEMENT OF 3K ONLY OFFERING 900 (STATING EMISSIONS WORK COULDN'T BE DONE DUE TO FIRE CLASSIFYING ME AS A PREVIOUS OWNER ALTHOUGH I WAS CURRENT OWNER EVEN AT THAT TIME). I STILL HAVEN'T SETTLED EMISSIONS. RECENTLY RAM HAS RECALLED ALL 108K ECO-DIESELS 2014-19 FOR FIRE HAZARD. MY TRUCK FITS THE DESCRIPTION FOR WHAT HAPPENS AND ALWAYS NEEDED A LITTLE COOLANT WITH MAINT, INSP, OIL CHANGES. I PAID OFF MY TRUCK BEFORE, AND NOW HAVE A PAYMENT WITH WHAT I CONSIDER A LESSER TRUCK. WHEN I CALL FCA AND GIVE MY INFO THEY OFTEN HANG UP, ACT LIKE THEY CANT HEAR ME, OR STATE THEY ARE TRANSFERRING ME TO MANAGER (HANGING UP ON ME). ALSO STATING SOMEONE WILL GET BACK TO ME, BUT NEVER ANY RETURNED CALL (SUPPOSED TO GET A CALL TOMORROW, WILL SEE).
ON FEBRUARY 23, 2019, I BOUGHT A 2014 RAM 1500 LARAMIE EDITION TRUCK WITH A 3.0 VM MOTORI TWIN TURBO ECODIESEL ENGINE. THE TRUCK HAD 78,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE TRUCK. THE FACTORY WARRANTY (5 YEARS/100,000 MILES) RAN OUT ON APRIL 12, 2019, DUE TO THE TRUCK BEING 5 YEARS OLD. I FOLLOWED THE MANUFACTURES RECOMMENDATIONS AND USED VALVOLINE EURO 15W40 DIESEL MOTOR OIL WHEN I CHANGED THE OIL, WHICH WAS AS SOON AS THE OIL SENSOR INDICATED THAT THE OIL WAS READY FOR CHANGING. ON MAY 2, 2019, I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 70 MPH. THE TRUCK MADE A BRIEF ROARING SOUND AND THE ENGINE DIED. I COASTED OVER TO THE LEFT SHOULDER AND STOPPED. A LARGE AMOUNT OF OIL WAS UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK NOW HAD 83,000 MILES ON IT. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND THE COST WOULD BE $13,219.40 PLUS ANY ADDITIONAL COST BEYOND THE LONG BLOCK ENGINE. I BEGAN RESEARCHING AND FOUND NUMEROUS ARTICLES THAT EXPLAINED THAT THE 3.0 VM MOTORI TWIN TURBO ECODIESEL ENGINE HAS A DESIGN FLAW THAT CAUSED THE ENGINE TO DESTROY ITSELF. BASICALLY THE CAM GEAR IS NOT SECURED TO THE CAM SHAFT. THE TIMING CHAIN'S TORQUE IS THE ONLY THING THAT HOLDS THE GEAR TO THE SHAFT. ONCE THE GEAR SLIPS AND THE TIMING CHAIN JUMPS, THE VALVES COLLIDE WITH THE PISTONS, STARTING A CHAIN REACTION THAT DESTROYS THE ENGINE. MY TRUCK RAN PERFECTLY UNTIL THE ENGINE FAILURE. THERE WAS NO WARNING. THE ARTICLES RECOUNT NUMEROUS ENGINE FAILURES OF THIS ENGINE WITH SOME ENGINES THAT HAD LESS THAN 20,000 MILES ON THEM. THE FAILURES HAPPENED WITH ENGINES THAT WERE IDLING AND ENGINES RUNNING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ONE ARTICLE CLAIMS TO HAVE AN INTERNAL CHRYSLER DOCUMENT THAT STATES THAT OF THE 198,000 OF THESE VEHICLES SOLD IN THE U.S. AND CANADA THE ENGINE FAILURE RATE HAS BEEN AS HIGH AS 19 PER WEEK.
TRUCK MADE A LOUD PINGING NOISE, WHILE DRIVING ON A COUNTY ROAD, TRUCK APPEARED TO CATCH FIRE, CAB FILLED UP WITH BLACK SMOKE WITH SOOT WITH A BURNING SMELL WHICH CAUSED THE TRUCK TO SHUT DOWN. THREW A CODE OF LOW PRESSURE FUEL AND ENGINE LIGHT ON. HAD TOWED TO NEAREST DEALERSHIP, WHICH COULD NOT PULL UP CODES THROWN. CHANGED FUEL FILTER. COUPLE MONTHS LATER, WHILE DRIVING ON A COUNTY ROAD, TRUCK THREW CODE ELECTRONIC IGNITION THROTTLE CONTROL, COULD NOT GET ANY PRESSURE, SMOKING UNDER HOOD AND FROM BEHIND. APPEARED TO HAVE CAUGHT FIRE AGAIN BUT TRUCK DID NOT SHUT DOWN AS IN 1ST SITUATION. HAD TOWED TO NEAREST DEALERSHIP. HAS BEEN THERE NOW FOR 14 DAYS. HAVING TO REPLACE EGR COOLER AND INTAKE MANIFOLD ALONG WITH A LOT OF SEALS AS I LEARNED THEY ARE PLASTIC AND MELTED DUE TO FIRE TWICE. WHY WOULD DODGE MAKE ANY INTAKE ESPECIALLY ON AN ECO DIESEL PLASTIC? SOUNDS LIKE ASKING FOR A FIRE ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP. ALSO TOO...THESE PARTS BEING REPLACED AND BEING COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY ARE ALSO PART OF THE "ECO DIESEL SETTLEMENT" SETTLED ON MAY 3RD, 3019 WHICH MY TRUCK WAS TOWED ON MAY 2, WHICH IN THIS SETTLEMENT THEY AWARDED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE EXACT PARTS BEING REPLACED. I CURRENTLY HAVE NO PICS OR DOCUMENTS AS TRUCK IS STILL CURRENTLY AT DEALERSHIP BEING WORKED ON AS I WAS TOLD THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE AND THIS IS A VERY COMPLICATED TASK TO REPAIR.
THIS TRUCK HAS A AIR SUSPENSION THAT INFLATES AND DEFLATES ALL OF THE TIME, I AM AFRAID OF DRIVING THE TRUCK IN FEAR OF AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE TRUCK AIR SUSPENSION THE LEFT REAR DEFLATES AND HITS METAL TO METAL MAKING IT VERY SQUIRRELY. IT SEEMS THAT IT NOBODY KNOWS HOW TO FIX THIS, PLEASE HELP. THIS HAPPENS MAINLY WHEN IT IS IN MOTION
MY TRUCK KNOCKS WHEN STARTING ENGINE
VERY HARD TO STEER WHEN MOVING, ANY DRIVING CITY OR HIGHWAYMORE GOING AROUND TURNS OR TURNING CORNERS, IT GOES EXTREMELY HARD, THEN EASIER THE HARD AGAIN, I WAS TOLD THERE ARE RECALLS FOR IT STARTING 1/2015, THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS , I HAVE NO PICTURES SINCE YOU CAN'T SEE A PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE, DOES THIS AT ANY SPEED
I HAVE HAD 2 RACK PINIONS REPLACED AND WAS JUST TOLD THAT THE THIS ONE IS BAD TO. STIFF STEERING WITH IT CATCHING AT TIMES ALSO SERVICE STEERING LIGHT ON.
FCA AEM RECALL. SINCE GETTING THE EMISSIONS RECALL DONE THE TRUCK NO LONGER RESPONDS LIKE IT DID. IT IS A LIFE SAFETY ISSUE. THE UPDATE HAS MAD THE TRUCK VERY SLUGGISH TO THE POINT IT FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL WHEN TRYING TO START FROM A STOP OR MERGING INTO TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE ALSO LOST 5-6 MPG SINCE THE UPDATE AND WILL NO LONG LET MY WIFE DRIVE IT TO DO LACK OF POWER TO EVEN GET MOVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AT START-UP, AN ABNORMAL TICKING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE ENGINE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF SEATTLE (13733 AURORA AVE N N, SEATTLE, WA 98133) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS FRACTURED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH 2014 RAM TRUCKS. THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WILL GO OUT SEND AN EML CODE AND THE FUEL GAUGE WILL DROP DOWN TO EMPTY EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A FULL TANK. DODGE WANTS TO CHARGE ME $1000 TO REPLACE THIS, SINCE I AM OUTSIDE OF THE OEM WARRANTY. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS TO ME. IT HAPPENED TO MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING MY TRUCK AND HAD TO STOP AND TOP OFF THE GAS TANK OTHERWISE THE TRUCK COULD HAVE SHUT DOWN. IT HAD 3/4 TANK OF GAS IN IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BECOME A RECALL.
THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET. I BELIEVE IT STARTS WITH THE 2009 MODEL YEAR TO THE 2018 MODEL YEAR. RAM FORUMS HAVE SHOWN THAT OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE BEGIN FROM 20K MILES AND UP FROM THERE. THE ISSUE IS THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD STOP FUNCTIONING AND READ EMPTY. CAUSING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON WHICH CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO NO LONGER OPERATE IN ECO ( DESCRIBE 4 CYLINDERS FOR BETTER FUEL ECONOMY) MODE UNTILL THE ISSUE IS RESOLVED. SOME OWNERS AS WELL AS MY SELF HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE STALL OUT, FORCING ME TO NAVIGATE TO THE SHOULDER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. USUALLY STARTS RIGHT UP AND THE CHECK ENGINE WILL REMAIN ON. WITH MY VEHICLE IF THE TANK IS FULL THE GUEST WORKS AND I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM UNTILL 40-60 MILES INTO DRIVING WHERE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME BACK ON AND AT TIMES CAUSING THE STALL. OTHER OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THAT THE GUAGE DOES NOT WORK 100% OF THE TIME. THERE IS A BIG NUMBER OF OWNERS WHO HAVE JUST GOTTEN IT FIXED BUT MOST JUST LIVE WITH THE ISSUE SINCE IT'S NOT CAUSING A STALL. I CANNOT STRESS THE IMPORTANCE OF A RECALL ON THESE RAMS FOR THE PEOPLE THAT ARE DEALING WITH THE ISSUE . AND THE NUMBER OF UN REPORTED CLAIMS TO YOUR AGENCY. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS FOR THE MANY OWNERS WHO HAVE FAILED TO REPORT TO YOU THIS ONGOING PROBLEM THAT THE DEALERSHIPS AND FIAT IS WELL AWARE OF. THEY HAVE EVEN ADVISED PEOPLE THAT THE NHTSA ISSUES RECALLS NOT THE COMPANY. JUST SEEMS LIKE THEY ARE WAITING FOR YOUR AGENCY TO ISSUE ONE. VEHICLE HAS JUST UNDER 77K MILES ON IT, POWERTRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRED END OF FEBRUARY DUE TO TIME RESTRAINT BEFORE REACHING THE 100K MILES LIMIT (7YR/100K MILE ON A CERTIFIED USED) VEHICLE PURCHASED MARCH 2016. WHILE DRIVING THIS WEEK THE POWER STEERING RANDOMLY FAILS CAUSING THE WHEEL TO SNAP TO ONE SIDE, AT FREEWAY SPEED THIS COULD BE FETAL. I HAVE READ FORUMS OF SEVERAL OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE IN THE PAST AND IT COSTING $2,000-4,000+ TO REPLACE THE ESP (ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING). PART IS NOT FIXABLE WITHOUT REPLACEMENT AND UNDER 100K MILES SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THIS ISSUE. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF THIS WOULD'VE HAPPENED AT FREEWAY SPEED, I HAD THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WHILE TURNING A CORNER AT APPROX 25MPH NEARLY SENDING ME OFF THE ROAD. RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND PROBLEM WENT AWAY LEADING ME TO BELIEVE IT MAY BE A ONE TIME SOFTWARE GLITCH. VEHICLE HAD NO PROBLEMS FOR THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS AND NOW THE STEERING HAS REPEATEDLY FAILED CAUSING ME TO BE UNABLE TO DRIVE IT.

JUNEKS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (644 W JACKSON BLVD, SPEARFISH, SD 57783, (605) 644-7773) DIAGNOSED THAT THE BOLTS FRACTURED FROM THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
UPON STARTING MY TRUCK BOTH WHILE STATIONARY AND IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS, THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER SCREEN FLICKERS AND INTERMITTENTLY BLACKS OUT. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS TO MOVE THE DIC DIMMER KNOB BACK AND FORTH TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. THAT ACTION DOES NOT CORRECT THE FLICKERING. THE DIC INFORMATION INCLUDES ENGINE ISSUES, CRUISE CONTROL, SPEED, VEHICLE SYSTEMS WARNINGS, TIRE AIR PRESSURE, OIL PRESSURE, OIL TEMPERATURE, WATER TEMPERATURE, CHARGING SYSTEM STATUS, ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM STATUS, ETC. I WAS TOLD "FEDERAL REGULATIONS REQUIRE ALL INFORMATION DISPLAYS BE CLEARLY LEGIBLE.". THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, CAN YOU HELP ME TO GET IT CORRECTED? LET ME KNOW. HEADLIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, AND BRAKE LIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY WORK.
THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONTINUES TO LEAK. I BELIEVE IT HAS TO DO WITH THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BRACKET BOLTS THAT BREAK. RAM CONTINUES TO REPAIR WITH THE SAME POOR QUALITY PARTS.
AT APPROXIMATELY 60,000 MILES THE FUEL GAGE BECAME ERRATIC AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND HAS BEEN ON SINCE. THE TROUBLE MESSAGE SYSTEM INDICATES A FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FAIL. I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND A LOT OF OTHER RAM OWNERS INDICATE THIS PROBLEM. IT IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR REQUIRING THE BED TO BE REMOVED (COST TO REPAIR NEAR $1000). THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON OVER THE LAST 4 MONTHS. DURING THIS TIME THE LIGHT HAS GONE OFF AND ON NUMEROUS TIMES. JUST TWO WEEKS AGO A FUEL SENSOR FAILURE DISPLAYED ON THE DASH. THE FUEL GAUGE DROPPED TO EMPTY AND THE REMAINING MILES UNTIL EMPTY SHOWS AS LOW MILES. THE FUEL SENSOR FAILURE GOES OFF AND ON DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE TANK BUT THE CHECK ENGINE STAYS ON NOW. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS REVIEWS ON THE RAM 1500 FROM 2012 THROUGH 2016 HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. MOST OF THESE PEOPLE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP WITH FAIRLY LOW MILES ON THEIR VEHICLES.

I DOUBLE CHECKED AND VEHICLE STARTED AND WAS STILL IN PARK WITHOUT ME TOUCHING THE ROTARY DIAL. THIS SCARED ME ENOUGH TO BE CONCERNED. IGNITION OFF AND KEYS WERE IN OFF POSITION IN THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 72000 MILES AND I HAVE OWNED IT FOR AROUND 50000 OF THOSE MILES. I AM FAMILIAR WITH THE ROTARY DIAL.

NOW MY AIR RIDE SUSPENSION WILL NOT RAISE UP AND CANNOT DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE IT BOUNCES UNCONTROLLABLY. I WAS RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM AND READING ON DODGE RAM FORUMS THAT THIS IS VERY COMMON FOR THESE TRUCKS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND A SERIOUS MATTER. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE ABLE TO GET ME INTO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO CHECK IT OUT. TECH SAID THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING, IT MUST BE AN OLD CODE THEY DID NOT ERASE. THEN ON 3/4/19 SAME CODE RETURNED, P26AB. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON 2013 RAM FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.
AIR SUSPENSION WILL FREEZE UP IN NEGATIVE TEMPERATURES. WHEN THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING TRUCK OVER BUMPS, CAUSES VEHICLE TO LOSE STABILITY/TRACTION ON THE ROAD, ESPECIALLY ON ICY ROADS - CAUSING HIGH RISK FOR AN ACCIDENT.
THE AIR RIDE SUSPENSION IN ALL OF THESE TRUCKS ARE FAILING IN CANADIAN COLD CLIMATES. MY TRUCK IS CONSISTENTLY RIDING ON THE BUMP STOPS WHEN IT'S COLD OUT CAUSING A VERY ROUGH RIDE THAT IS NOT GOOD FOR THE VEHICLE OR THE PASSENGERS. LET ALONE THE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IS DIMINISHED WITH ZERO SUSPENSION. WHEN IT GETS COLD (-15 OR SO) I WALK OUTSIDE TO SEE MY TRUCKS FRONT END ALL THE WAY LOWERED WITH THE REAR STILL AT NORMAL HEIGHT. WARMING UP TRUCK DOESN'T HELP. THE RIDE HEIGHT BUTTONS JUST FLASH AND WARNING SIGNS SOMETIMES DISPLAY ON THE DASH. MANY PEOPLE (INCLUDING ME) THEN GET BLOWN FUSES OR THE COMPRESSOR FAILS AND THEN THERE IS NO FIX BUT TO GO TO DEALER. DODGE REPLACED MY AIR RIDE COMPONENTS BUT IT DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. I FEAR FOR THE COMING YEAR WHEN MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND DRIVING WITH MY KIDS AND I AM DRIVING AROUND WITH NO SUSPENSION. THERE IS ENOUGH PEOPLE THAT HAVE THESE SAME ISSUES AS I'VE DESCRIBED TO WARRANT A RECALL. THERE ARE CLASS ACTION LAW SUITS IN THE USA OVER THIS ISSUE. THERE IS A FACEBOOK GROUP DESCRIBING THESE FAILURES FURTHER. GROUP IS CALLED FCA RAM PICKUP AIR SUSPENSION FAILURES. IT IS UNFATHOMABLE THAT I AM SUPPOSED TO BE DRIVING AROUND IN A VEHICLE WITH MY KIDS IN A TRUCK THAT I'VE PAID MANY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR THAT DOESN'T HAVE SUSPENSION AND NO HELP FROM DODGE. I WAS ACCELERATING MY TRUCK ON A CITY STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. THE POWER CONTROL MODULE, BATTERY CONTROL MODULE, CRANK POSITION SENSOR, TONE WHEEL AND POWER STEER CONTROL MODULE ALL FAILED AT THE SAME TIME. THE TRUCK SHUT DOWN AND HAD TO BE TOWED INTO THE DEALER.
ACCELERATION/ CRUISE CONTROL ISSUE: I HAD THE VEHICLE'S CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED AT THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT (70 MPH) ON THE INTERSTATE. I ACCELERATED TO AVOID A BOTTLENECK IN AN AREA WHERE 3 LANES MERGED INTO TWO. WHEN I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I PUMPED THE BRAKE SEVERAL TIMES TO REDUCE THE SPEED, BUT I COULD NOT RESUME ACCELERATION BECAUSE THE GAS PEDAL LOCKED TO THE FLOOR. I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND COASTED TO THE SHOULDER. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, MANUALLY LIFTED THE PEDAL AND TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON. A DISPLAY MESSAGE STATED: SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL; BUT THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO OPERATE FINE. I HAD THIS EVENT HAPPEN TWO MORE TIMES. ONCE WAS IN A SIMILAR SCENARIO, THE OTHER I REPLICATED IT ON MY OWN. I CONTACTED THE RAM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER, THEY ADVISED THAT I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. IF IT IS DUE TO A RECALL IT WILL BE FIXED FOR FREE, OTHERWISE THE DIAGNOSIS COSTS AND REPAIR WILL BE ON ME. MY CONCERN IS THAT I HAD SEVERAL RECALLS FIXED ON NOVEMBER 23, 2018. THIS ISSUE HAD NEVER HAPPENED IN THE PAST UNTIL IT WAS SERVICED FOR THOSE RECALLS. I HAD AN INDIVIDUAL AT AUTOZONE ATTEMPT TO DOWNLOAD THE TROUBLE CODES; NO CODES WERE FOUND. I'VE READ FORUMS ONLINE ABOUT SIMILAR ISSUES, BUT DEALER(S) WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND THE CAUSE DURING DIAGNOSIS. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 33,000 MILES.

I PROCEEDS TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMBILES ON FEBRUARY 18 2019 CASE # 58020421 AND WAS DIRECTED BY THEM TO TAKE IT TO AN FCA CERTIFIED DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND CALL FCA BACK WITH THE RESULTS. THE DIAGNOTICS SHOULD AN ACTIVE FAULT IN THE FUEL SENDING UNIT AND FCAS RESPONCE BACK WAS SINCE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL THE REPAIRS. MY MAIN COMPLAINT IS THIS IS A REACCURING PROBLEM WITH THEIR FUEL SENDING UNITS WITH MANY RAM OWNERS AND ALL FCA WILL TELL YOU IS TAKE IT TO YOUR DEALERSHIP. $476.00 LATER THEY REPLACED THE OLD SENDING UNIT WITH THE SAME OEM PART NUMBER THAT I BELIEVE IS A FAULTY PART AND THEY WILL ONLY WARRANTY THIS PART GOT 2 YEARS. FCA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND IF THE COMPANY FEELS THAT IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AND WILL NOT COVER THE COST OF RELACEMENT THAT NEEDS TO BE EXPRESSED TO THE CUSTOMER WHEN FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THEM.
FEBRUARY OF 2019 I WAS DRIVING MY 2014 RAM 1500 3.6LITER 4X4 TO WORK. WHEN COMING DOWN AN ON RAMP MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN BACK TO THE RIGHT. THE FACT THAT LATER MODELS ARE BEING ADDRESSED AND YET 2014 OWNERS ARE REPORTING THE ISSUE AS WELL IS PURE NEGLECT.
