RANDOMLY THE POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT. DIFFICULT TO TURN AND CONTROL VEHICLE WHILE EXECUTING A TURN. *JS
MY 2014 DODGE RAM 1500 WAS IDLING IN PARK IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES WHEN WITH NOBODY IN OR NEAR THE VEHICLE IT JUMPED INTO REVERSE AND ACCELERATED INTO A GARAGE CAUSING APPROXIMATELY $4,000 DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE ( THANK GOD NOBODY WAS INJURED OR KILLED ) *TR
THIS TRUCK WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN SEPT 2014. WITHIN THE FIRST 4000 MILES OF DRIVING THE BRAND NEW VEHICLE EXHAUST STARTED TO COME OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND STARTED ENTERING THE CABIN, IT NOW HAS 22000 MILES. I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID TO BRING IT IN AND FOUND NOTHING. 10000 MILES CHECKUP I TOLD THEM THE SAME THING BUT ITS GETTING A LOT WORSE SO THEY SAID IT WAS WHEN THEY DID AN OIL CHANGE AND OIL GOT ONTO THE EXHAUST SO THEY CLEANED MY UNDERCARRIAGE, BUT THE PROBLEM WOULD STILL OCCUR. 15000 I BROUGHT IT IN AGAIN AND THEY REPLACED MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER SAYING THAT WAS THEY ISSUE BUT AS SOON AS I GOT HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP IT STARTED AGAIN. I HAVE SINCE BEEN CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP CONSTANTLY BECAUSE NOW THERE IS A RECALL PERTAINING TO THE ISSUE I SPECIFICALLY HAVE (HIGH FREQUENCY DECOUPLER) RECALL (R04). SINCE THEN THEY KEEP TELLING ME THE PART IS ON BACKORDER AND I JUST HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT. MY TRUCK SMOKES FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND ENTERS THE CABIN FROM THE AIR VENTS, IT GETS TO THE POINT WHERE YOU CANT DRIVE IT WITHOUT GETTING DIZZY. NORTH STAR DODGE DEALERSHIP IN SAN ANTONIO IS WHO I HAVE BEEN CONTACTING WITH THIS ISSUE AND CHARLES SPECIFICALLY FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THERE ADMINISTRATION HAS DONE NOTHING TO ALLEVIATE THE ISSUE FOR ME OR ACCOMMODATE ME IN ANY WAY. FROM THE TIME I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE I HAVE CONTACTED THE FCA MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY TELL ME THE DEALERSHIP HAS IT ON ORDER BUT CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT ACCOMMODATING ME EITHER. THE ISSUE OF CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING IS A LARGE CONCERN FOR ME BECAUSE I DRIVE ME GRANDMOTHER AROUND WHO HAS SERIOUS HEART CONDITIONS, THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF IMMEDIATELY AND NOBODY IS DOING ANYTHING TO ACCOMMODATE MY SAFETY. PLEASE HELP MY HEALTH IS AT RISK AND EVERYBODY HOW RIDES IN MY VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DECLINED TO HONOR THE RECALL REPAIR BECAUSE THEIR SYSTEM INDICATED THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED UNDER THE RECALL. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V459000 (AIR BAGS), 15V460000 (AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS), 15V534000 (AIR BAGS), AND 15V461000 (EQUIPMENT). THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIRS FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THE DEALER DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON SHIFTING GEARS, THE TRANSMISSION HESITATED TO CHANGE OVER AND THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

2014 DODGE RAM 1500 FACTORY GOODYEAR TIRES BLOW OUT DURING INTERSTATE DRIVING IN HERSHEY PA MODEL OEM GOODYEAR WRANGLER 275/60R20 I WAS GETTING INTO I-83 AT SPEED OF 45MPH WHEN I HEARD A SOUND. AND JUST DOWN THE ROAD IN I-83 WHEN I WAS AT SPEED OF 60MPH THE TIRE SENSOR CAME UP SHOWING PSI <17. THESE TIRES WERE ROTATED AROUND 5K MILES AND NITROGEN GAS USED. IF I WAS DRIVING AT THE SPEED OF THE TRAFFIC (>70MPH) WHEN THE TIRE BLOW OUT TOOK PLACE IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ROAD ACCIDENT. AFTER IT WAS TAKEN FOR REPAIR IT SHOWED A LATERAL BLOW OUT OF THE TIRE. *TR
TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY FEEDER ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 4:45 PM AT APPROXIMATELY 30-35 MPH. PREPARED TO COME TO A STOP AT AN APPROACHING INTERSECTION CONTROLLED BY 3 WAY STOP SIGNS. AS I BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN THE TRUCK STALLED OUT. THE LIGHT OVER THE D ON THE GEAR SELECTOR WAS FLASHING AND THE DASH PANEL INDICATED THAT I SHOULD SHIFT INTO PARK AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. I COASTED TO A SAFE STOP, APPLIED THE BRAKE AND SHIFTED TO STOP AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. I REMAINED ON THE FEEDER AND THE TRUCK REPEATED THE INCIDENT AT THE VERY NEXT INTERSECTION. I GOT THE TRUCK RUNNING AGAIN AND PULLED INTO A GAS STATION AND CALLED THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP AND TALKED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHO SAID THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING. THIS SAME INCIDENT HAPPENED THREE WEEKS AGO BUT WE THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE. WEATHER WAS AVERAGE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. RAINY AND 43 DEGREES. HAD THE HEATER RUNNING, THE SEAT AND STEERING WHEEL HEATER ON. TURNED THEM ALL OFF CONCERNED THAT THEY MIGHT BE PART OF THE CAUSE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V392000 (SUSPENSION); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
ON 12/13/2014, I PURCHASED A NEW, 2014 DODGE RAM 1500 IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS. ON 01/23/2015, AFTER ACCUMULATING 1000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, I TRIGGERED THE KEY FOB TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE ONLY TO HAVE THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAIL. I COULD NOT START THE VEHICLE NO MATTER WHAT I TRIED. I NOTIFIED DODGE AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 01/24/2015. AFTER SEVERAL VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP AND NUMEROUS TELEPHONE CALLS, I COULD NOT RECEIVE ANY DEFINITIVE ANSWER AS TO WHAT WAS BEING DIAGNOSED OR DONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. EVENTUALLY, I HAD TO OPEN A CASE FILE THROUGH DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY TOO, WERE MET WITH THE SAME UNCERTAINTY AND COULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. AFTER 40 DAYS IN MAINTENANCE AND A GREAT DEAL OF ACQUIRED STRESS, THE VEHICLE WAS FINALLY RETURNED IN WORKING ORDER. THE CAUSE ? A FAULTY, TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM). UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION OF THIS UNIT I HAVE COME TO FIND THAT (1) CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, (2) THERE IS A NATIONAL BACKORDER FOR TIPM?S STRETCHING MONTHS, AND (3) LEGAL ACTION IS PENDING. DUE TO THE CIRCUMSTANCES THAT I HAD TO ENDURE, I NO LONGER WANT THIS TRUCK, NOR DO I TRUST ITS INTEGRITY. ALTHOUGH THE SYSTEM FAILED AT MY HOME, IT COULD HAVE VERY WELL HAPPENED ON THE ROAD AND CAUSED ?WHO KNOWS WHAT?. I AM DONE WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
I PURCHASED MY RAM ON TUESDAY (01/20/15). THE VEHICLE WAS A LEFT OVER 2014 MODEL THAT HAD BEEN ON THE DEALER'S LOT SINCE APPROXIMATELY MAY 2014. ON THURSDAY EVENING (01/22/15), AFTER A DAY'S RAIN, I OPENED THE RIGHT-REAR DOOR AND NOTICED THAT A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF WATER HAD LEAKED THROUGH THE REAR WINDOW. A FOLDED UP TOWEL, THAT WAS UNDERNEATH THE REAR SEAT, WAS COMPLETELY SOAKED THROUGH. THE SEATS WERE WET ALONG WITH THE SURROUNDING CARPETED AREA. *TR
AFTER PULLING INTO MY DRIVE WAY WITH MY ADULT SON IN THE PASSENGER SEAT I WAS ROLLING UP TO THE GARAGE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL SLOWING DOWN THE TRUCK. I STOPPED THE TRUCK COMPLETELY, BY PUSHING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL HARDER, ABOUT 5 FEET FROM THE HOUSE. I REACHED DOWN TO ROTATE THE SHIFT DIAL TO PARK, "P". AFTER TURNING TO "P" THE TRUCK ENGINE STARTED REVVING AND THE TRUCK LURCHED FORWARD, AFTER INITIALLY BEING STARTLED I LOOKED DOWN AND SAW THE SHIFT DIAL WAS AT "P" AND THE ENGINE WAS STILL REVVING. THE TRUCK THEN STRUCK THE CORNER OF THE HOUSE WHILE I WAS ALMOST STANDING UP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TRYING TO GET IT TO STOP. I TURNED THE SHIFT DIAL TO REVERSE AND BACK TO PARK AND THE TRUCK STOPPED REVVING AND MOVING. THEN I BACKED AWAY FROM THE HOUSE. BEING A RETIRED POLICE DETECTIVE THE FIRST THING I DID WAS TO CHECK TO SEE IF THE FACTORY FLOOR MAT HAD DISLODGED AND JAMMED INTO THE PEDALS BUT IT WAS PROPERLY HOOKED IN PLACE. AFTER GETTING THE TRUCKS BODY DAMAGE REPAIRED I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER BUT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRUCK. I DID NOTICE THAT WHEN I PICKED THE TRUCK UP FROM THE DEALER THERE WAS A CLICKING SOUND UNDER THE DASH WHEN I ROTATED THE SHIFT DIAL FROM "R" TO "P" THAT I DO NOT RECALL HEARING BEFORE. NO CLICKING IS HEARD WHEN CHANGING BETWEEN ANY OTHER GEARS.

TOOK TRUCK IN TO HOYTE DODGE BECAUSE IT HAS A REAL BAD VIBRATION WHEN DRIVING. AFTER THEY DROVE SEVERAL TIMES AND BALANCED TIRES STILL HAS SAME PROBLEM. THEY DRIVE IT AND SAY THEY FEEL NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. WOULD LIKE SOME ONE TO LOOK INTO THIS FOR ME. I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS WITH A NEW TRUCK. *JS

HI, (TO CHRYSLER) THE FACTS: 1.- MY TRUCK SUFFER OF A DELAY WHEN YOU TRY TO START MOVING, FROM THE MOMENT THAT YOU PRESS THE GAS PEDAL AND THE MOMENT THAT THE TRUCK RESPOND AND START MOVING. I CAN SAY IS ABOUT 1 TO 2 SECONDS DELAY 2.- THE DELAY CAUSED THIS WEEK TO BE ALMOST ROLLED OVER FOR INCOMING TRAFFIC. WHEN YOU ARE AT THE VERY CONGESTED INTERSECTION AND YOU NEED TO GET IN TO THE INCOMING TRAFFIC FAST THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE WITH THIS TRUCK 3.- THE TRUCK DOES NOT CHANGE GEARS WHEN IT IS LACKING OF POWER, YOU CAN PRESS THE GAS PEDAL FOR ABOUT ONE INCH AN IT DOES NOT DO ANYTHING. 4.- AGAIN WHEN YOU NEED TO CHANGE LANES OR YOU NEED TO ADVANCE IN A HILL IT DOES NOT HAPPEN. WHEN YOU PRESS THE PEDAL YOU NEED TO GO ALL THE WAY DOWN FOR THE TRUCK TO RESPOND AND WHEN IT HAPPENS IT CHANGES TO A LOWER GEAR IN SUCH WAY THAT INSTEAD OF HAVING ACCELERATION IT IS DECELERATING INSTEAD. 5.- WHEN YOU NEED TO START MOVING THE TRUCK SLOWLY TO APPROACH SOME HING IT WILL NOT DO THAT IT WILL JUMP AND AT THAT POINT YOU ARE CLOSE TO CRASH IT ON THE THING THAT YOU ARE APPROACHING 6.-I GAVE YOU 2 MONTHS TRYING TO BECOME MORE FAMILIAR WITH THE TRUCK BEHAVIOR, BUT WHAT I FOUND IS THAT I CAN MANUALLY CHANGE THE GEARS AND MAKE THE TRUCK TO RESPOND AS A NORMAL VEHICLE, CHANGING GEARS GRADUALLY WHEN IT IS LOSING POWER IF I CAN MAKE THE TRUCK TO CHANGE GEARS WITH OUT JUMPING 4 GEARS DOWN WHY YOUR COMPUTER IS NOT CAPABLE OF DO IT? I BELIEVE THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE. I PRETTY SURE THAT THE TRUCK CAN HAVE COMPUTER ISSUES, OR THE GAS PEDAL TRANSMITTER OR THE GAS ACTUATOR HAVE ISSUES, OR THE COMPUTER PROGRAM IS NOT WORKING AS A PLANNED, OR TRANSMISSION ISSUES I NEED YOUR HELP SOLVING THESE ISSUES THANK YOU VERY MUCH
I JUST BOUGHT MYSELF A BRAND NEW 2014 RAM 1500 IN NOVEMBER 2014 AND TODAY ON JANUARY 05 2015 I GET IN THE TRUCK TO GO TO LUNCH AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE EXTERNAL TEMP. GAUGE READS THE IT IS -40 DEGREES WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE CONSIDERING I LIVE IN SOUTH GEORGIA, ALSO MY ODOMETER READING IS BLANK AND MY FRONT WINDOWS WONT GO DOWN. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 1,922 MILES ON IT AND ALL OF THIS HAPPENED AT THE SAME TIME. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY AND DECREASED IN SPEED INDEPENDENTLY. THE RPMS INCREASED TO 2,500-3,000 BEFORE THE VEHICLE DECREASED IN SPEED INDEPENDENTLY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AS WELL AS A MESSAGE THAT DEF FLUID WAS WRONG. I CALLED DEALER AND THEY SAID BRING IT BACK IN. DEALER CALLED ME BACK AND SAID I NEEDED NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER BUT IT WAS ON BACK ORDER AND THEY COULDN'T GIVE ME A DATE. DEALER TOLD ME TRUCK WAS OK TO DRIVE. DECEMBER 24, 2014 A WARNING MESSAGE CAME UP ON TRUCK THAT SAID TRUCK WOULD CUT OFF IN 190 MILES AND WOULD NOT RE START. DEALER NOW HAS TRUCK AND STILL CAN'T GIVE ME A DATE ON WHEN IT WILL BE FIXED. THE 2014 RAM 1500 SPORT I BOUGHT HAS HAD REPEATED DASH AND INTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEMS. THE DASH LIGHTS RANDOMLY FLICKER OR DON'T TURN ON AT ALL. ON SOME OCCASIONS NO INTERIOR LIGHTS AT ALL WOULD WORK. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES BUT STILL HASN'T BEEN REPAIRED. THE DEALERSHIP HAS DONE SOFTWARE UPDATES, RE-GROUNDED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND REPLACED THE BODY CONTROL MODULE WITHOUT FIXING THE PROBLEM. IN ADDITION THE REMOTE START SOMETIMES DOES NOT START THE TRUCK IT LOCKS THE DOORS INSTEAD, THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIND A SOLUTION. I FEEL THAT THE DIAL USED TO SELECT THE DRIVE GEAR IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD. THE DIAL IS A SIMILAR SIZE AND SHAPE AS THE COMFORT AND RADIO CONTROLS AND PLACED RIGHT NEXT TO OTHER DASH KNOBS. I BELIEVE THAT A DRIVER COULD INTEND TO CHANGE THE RADIO STATION OR TURN THE FAN DOWN BUT INADVERTENTLY TAKE THE TRUCK OUT OF GEAR. OVERALL THIS TRUCK HAS SERIOUS ELECTRICAL FLAWS AND THE POSSIBILITY OF BEING KNOCKED OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE IN MY OPINION. *TR

AIRBAGS DEPLOYED IN A MINOR SIDESWIPE COLLISION AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE DRIVER WAS NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE SMOKE (DUST?) FROM THE AIRBAG INFLATION AND THE BAG ITSELF IN HIS FACE THAT PREVENTED HIM FROM SEEING WHERE HE WAS GOING. WE HIT A UTILITY POLE AT SPEED AND SEVERAL TREES WHICH EVENTUALLY STOPPED THE TRUCK. THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AT THE INITIAL (VERY MINOR) IMPACT AND WERE OF NO BENEFIT TO US IN THE SUBSEQUENT MAJOR IMPACTS THAT WE COULD NOT EVEN SEE COMING. IN THIS CASE DRIVER ERROR MAY HAVE CAUSED THE INITIAL IMPACT BUT MANY ACCIDENTS OF THIS TYPE MAY FOLLOW DEER/AUTO CRASHES THAT OCCUR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND DO NOT SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. PERHAPS THE THRESHOLD IMPACT FOR AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT SHOULD BE HIGHER OR AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT MODIFIED SO DRIVERS ARE ABLE TO CONTROL THEIR VEHICLE AFTER AN INITIAL IMPACT THAT DOES NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TO WONDER HOW MANY HUMAN DEATHS IN DEER/AUTO COLLISIONS RESULT FROM SECONDARY IMPACTS AT HIGH SPEED BECAUSE DRIVERS COULD NOT STOP THEIR AUTO SAFELY BECAUSE OF AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AT THE INITIAL HIT. *JS

INITIALLY, THE VEHICLE HAD AN ABNORMALLY STRONG NEW CAR SMELL. (THE SMELL HAS NOW BEEN WIDELY REPORTED ON INTERNET FORUMS BY OTHER OWNERS.) I THOUGHT THIS WOULD DISSIPATE OVER TIME. THE SMELL WAS SO STRONG THAT I HAD TO LEAVE THE WINDOWS OPEN WHILE DRIVING DUE TO A NAUSEATING ODOR. AFTER SITTING IN THE VEHICLE, OCCUPANTS COULD ACTUALLY TASTE SOME TYPE OF RESIDUE. IN ADDITION, A FOUL ODOR CAME FROM THE HEATING SYSTEM, ESPECIALLY AT IDLE. AFTER TWO MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP, AND FRUSTRATION, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP (ALTHOUGH I HAD MENTIONED THE STRONG ODOR BEFORE DURING A FOLLOW-UP CALL). THE DEALERSHIP FLUSHED THE COOLING SYSTEM AND REPLACED THE HOSES BECAUSE OF A TECHNICAL SERVICE DOCUMENT. THE DOCUMENT STATED THERE WAS A CHEMICAL REACTION BETWEEN A NEW TYPE OF COOLANT AND THE INTERIOR LINING OF COOLANT HOSES. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS PROCEDURE DID NOT ELIMINATE THE FOUL SMELL EXPERIENCED WHILE DRIVING. I NOTICED THE ODOR WAS STRONGEST ONCE THE ENGINE WARMED, SO IT TOOK LONGER TO SURFACE DURING COLD TEMPERATURES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID I SHOULD CALL THE MANUFACTURER. MY INITIAL CALL WAS PLACED OVER A MONTH AGO. AN ADDITIONAL COOLANT SYSTEM FLUSH WAS PERFORMED, BUT YIELDED NO RESULTS. I HAVE BEEN SENT TO DIFFERENT DIVISIONS WITHIN CHRYSLER, AND HAVE MOSTLY EXPERIENCED FRUSTRATING DELAYS AND INACCURATE DATA ENTRY. I'VE VISITED THE DEALERSHIP A TOTAL OF FOUR TIMES, AND SPENT HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. IT SEEMS THE ODOR IS BEING PULLED IN FROM THE ENGINE BAY. THE BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE THE ODOR IS AS SOME TYPE OF CHEMICAL FINISH OR RESIDUE ENTERING THE CABIN. MY VEHICLE IS FOR FAMILY USE.
