There was a recall for High Pressure Fuel Pump. Part ended up exploding and debris getting into fuel system, which made engine faulty. Found out just today there is a recall for ABS system, which ABS light has been on for 3 months The vehicle has shut off on the freeway 5 times, always on the freeway which was dangerous. The vehicle has been inspection and worked on by Ram dealership but they cannot find remedy for the vehicle. Yes the engine light was on and the ABS light is on currently. After new engine and PCM was installed the engine light went off but vehicle shut off last night which was (10/17/2024) now there is a red light blinking
Electronic power steering failure, trucks were recalled in 2015 through 2016. However, my trucks EPS part number is not on the recall list. I tried bringing it to Dodge and they wanted over $3000 to repair. Dodge also told me they could not guarantee me. This would fix the power steering, turn off the power steering light in the dash, and no guarantees could be made that replacing the steering column for $3800 would repair the problem! There have been over 2 million recalls on these vehicles for a failure of EPS! Total loss of control of steering, without the assist, it is almost impossible to turn the wheel of the truck, and failure while driving would surely kill the driver and everyone around them! The fact Dodge wasn’t forced to recall these vehicles is absolutely horrifying! The fact, the highway safety control does not force dodge to recall all of these vehicles is completely unacceptable! If my truck is not fixed, I will be filing a class action suit against everyone involved! $50,000 for a truck with no power steering and electric issues, and the highway safety control does nothing to hold Dodge accountable! Please call me at [XXX] if there’s any questions! If I don’t get a response, I will be reaching out to an attorney! The Safety Recall has been on for 2 to 4 years NHTSA # 22V406000 Manufacturer Recall Number Z48 I've got many E mails about repairing the safety recall and No Service available I knew the fuel pressure pump is available please respond it worries me a lot to I may get in an accident
There is a problem with the rackin pin power steering. My vehicle steering wheel will just stop turning without a struggle and then kick back in.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 22V406000 (FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL) and 23V411000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated that while driving 5MPH, the vehicle started to stall, then jerked back and forth before eventually shutting off. The fuel control sensor warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with high-pressure fuel pump failure. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired; however, the dealer informed the contact that the parts were on backorder. The failure mileage was approximately 168,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 15 - 20 MPH and attempting to make a left turn, the steering wheel required excessive force to maneuver. The contact was able to coast to a stop and coasted into a nearby parking lot, using excessive force to maneuver the steering wheel. A certified mechanic confirmed the vehicle was safe to drive. The vehicle was taken to another certified mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure and was referred to the dealer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the vehicle, however, did suggest it may be a software failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.
I purchased a new 2016 Dodge ram 1500 truck. I recently experienced severe steering issues which resulted and may not being able to control the steering. I had to tow the vehicle to the dealer who told me it would cost approximately $3,500 to have the electric power steering module replaced. Luckily, my steering issues occurred when I was at home and pulling into my garage. I had just gotten back from a trip and was on the interstate. If this issue had occurred on the interstate I hate to think of the problems that could have occurred. I believe that Chrysler should recall these vehicles that have the electronic steering issues or at least pay for the repairs.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the wheels became inoperable. The ABS, traction control, 4WD, Hill Assist, and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact associated the failure with the ABS control module. The dealer was notified of the failure, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.
10/3/2024: 2016 Ram 1500 suddenly lost power steering ability while driving (55 mph), and a red steering wheel icon with an exclamation point warning light came on. We were able to safely get off the road to a parking lot. After the vehicle sat for several hours, no warning light and drove fine. The next day (10/4/24) it happened again, but thankfully it happened in our driveway. It took significant force to turn the wheel, especially when making sharp turns. It was extremely difficult to safely control the truck. I am not sure that an inexperienced driver or someone with physical limitations such as weak upper body strength would have been able to safely control or turn the vehicle. The vehicle has not been inspected by the dealer yet, but it will be soon. We have not driven the vehicle since 10/4/2024 due to this significant safety concern. We are currently contacting our insurance company for assistance with towing to a dealership. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to the failure.
The ABS electronic module has failed. The replacement part from the dealership has/is on “Engineering Hold “ since November, extended to December 19, then extended to January 17, and now extended to February 19th. The ABS modules for Dodge Ram trucks from 2017 onwards are on recall. The ABS module also controls the cruise control, so that is not working also. Please add the 2016 models to the recall.
My power steering is randomly going out. To reset I can pull the electrical cable off the battery and reinstall.
The last few weeks I’ve noticed my truck hasn’t been right. With some online investigation I realized the misfire code I been getting is related to a cam and lifter issue. Based on the forms I’ve viewed. The ram 1500 with the 5.7 engine has a known issue that the cams and lifters wear down after a very short period of time. I’ve seen cases of 60k miles up to 120k miles. This is a crucial part of the vehicle and there’s no reason this should only last for a short period of time. Especially with all these people who claim had to spend thousands of dollars on repairs or sometimes new engines entirely. I have older vehicles from the 2000’s with more miles than never have had issues like this. This is either a bad part that was produced or bad material of some sort. I’m hoping I’m not the only one to complain about this and we can try to resolve this issue.
Warning lights are on for , service trailer brake system, service braking system and service anti-lock brake system. Was advised by independent mechanic that the ABS module needs to be replaced, and this part has been unavailable for over 8 months. Contacted dealer and they also advised part is unavailable and they did not know when it would be available. Vehicle is drivable, but probably not safe to do so.
ABC Control Module - The warning lights that are on in the Dashboard are the ABS Light, Traction Control Light and the Brake Light. When these lights came on, I took it to the Ram Dealership, and they told me that it was the ABS Control Module that was bad and needed replaced. The lights stay on all of the time, so I do not have any ABS Braking, Tractor Control or Cruise Control. Not having the ABS Braking or the Cruise Control make it very dangerous to stop or control the Truck with bad road conditions. The Dealership told me that the part that is needed is on an Enginering Hold and that they cannot order the part. The Truck was taken into the Dealership in October of 2024. They are not giving me any solutions to the problem, and I am forced to drive an unsafe vehicle until Ram takes the parts off of Enginering Hold. I am not getting any help from Ram on this issue, and they do not seem to care about my Safety. The Dealership that my truck was at is Shively Motors in Shippensburg PA

The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the vehicle lost power steering functionality, and the steering wheel became difficult to turn in either direction. During the failure, the message "Service Power Steering" was displayed. The contact used a code reader to diagnose a low voltage failure to the electronic power steering module. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V167000 (Steering). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 85,000.
I was driving the truck and went to make a turn and suddenly the power steering went. It was very difficult to drive and was a definite hazard to myself and others. I took the truck to the dealer where they in turn said there was not a problem with the power steering. I have included the document given to me by the dealership. Upon my own investigation the power steering has defaulted many other drivers as well. This should be a recall. I then disconnected the battery and reconnected it two days later and the power steering returned. Withing the next few days the power steering went again. This is an electrical power steering and needs to be investigated asap. Yor help in greatly appreciated. I have very low mileage 34,510 (2016 1500 RAM BIg Horn) on this truck & started to have power steering problems. Without notice the power steering was giving me problems & thought it was something else. Today the same problem came about but I stopped, power steering was almost NONE, had to pull over to the side of the road, turned off truck to reset problem, steering was still tuff but slowly changed ma bit. Drove few miles & afterward getting back into truck it started all over again, steering became difficult to turn & warning light came on/off. I almost crashed/hit another vehicle due to being unable to turn vehicle away. Although I took vehicle 40 days ago for an oil change, dealer did not give any notice on vehicle form of any problems, even thou I had experienced issues before hand. Will contact dealer since its a Pre-Certified purchase.
The contact owned a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the ABS warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The failure mileage was unknown.
The brakes stopped working on September of 2024. I had to slam the emergency brake pedal to come to a stop. I slid into a ditch which caused autobody damage. A mechanic told me the ABS no longer works on my truck. He gave me this code: C2200. He said it defines the ABS module has failed. He said Mopar currently had no ABS modules in stock because they are constantly being replaced. I cannot drive the truck until the ABS module gets replaced.
Air suspension no good causes bad steering/control of truck very dangerous
ABS module failure. Part has not been available for at least 2 years when the failure occurred for this truck. Local repair shops and Dodge dealers are having difficulty in getting the part. NHTSA needs to start pressuring Dodge to get this resolved.
Exhaust flange before the DPF, bolts sheared off and melted my DEF line, dealer replaced the DEF line $826 but made noone aware of the failed flange gasket or bolts
ABS / BRAKE / TRACTION CONTROL/CRUISE CONTROL I am having problems with the list above. I have had my brakes, rotors and abs sensors replaced. Not to mention the dealership (Nyle Maxwell -Killeen, TX) supposedly did thorough check up and also changed out all the brake necessities a few years back. ****I will NEVER take my truck back to them EVER.**** The problem is because of this, I am a hazard to be on the road. My brakes work, but may give out at anytime if too much pressure is applied. This is due to a faulty ABS Module. Through no fault of my own, I'm having to pay out of pocket for a fix that the MANUFACTURER is responsible for. ****Please issue a RECALL on the part. It will save you lives and money in the long haul.**** I've always loved Dodge/Ram Trucks. Please issue a recall.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the ABS control module warning light and the braking system warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the ABS control module needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact of an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 126,341.
See attached document for complaint.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a local dealer and an ABS module repair was performed at the owner’s expense; however, the module failed to communicate with the computer system. The service ABS and traction control warning lights were illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was taken back to the same local dealer where it was repaired for the same ABS module failure; however, the failure reoccurred. The local dealer advised the contact that the parts to perform the repair were on backorder and were scanned with the service anti-lock brake system error code. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 224,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode with the checking engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was restarted; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the crank shaft had failed and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 177,300.
ABS MODULE NOT WORKING.
I have had several issues with this vehicle for over 1 yr, started having issues with the vehicle 3 months after purchasing it. I was unaware of any warranties on my truck because I bought it used. Called the dealership that I bought it from and they said I didn’t have a warranty on it. The truck would lose power while driving than it would show something about exhaust issue. Finally after around 6 months or so we had to take it to the shop to have it fixed paid over $2000 to have it fixed and it worked for some time but finally would not turn on and left us stranded. It has been over a year since we have been able to use the truck because now it has affected the motor. I am so desperate for some type of resolution. This is a recall issue and don’t understand why Chrysler won’t fix it.
ABS control module failed while driving. This also took out cruise control and electronic stability. This can cause brakes to lock up and/or a loss of control in inclement weather.
To Whom It May Concern: In March 2024 I purchased a Ram 1500 pickup truck. Shortly after purchasing the truck I discovered there was an open recall for the vehicle (14Z46182 Safety Recall Z46), I had the recall completed on April 10, 2024; The High Pressure Fuel Pump, Injector Fuel Tubes, and Fuel Filter were replaced by Port Lavaca Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep. A few months later I started having erratic check engine lights, hard starting etc. I had the codes translated at Auto Zone and it was determined to most likely be the High Pressure Fuel Pump failure. I dismissed that diagnosis as the high pressure fuel pump had recently been replaced. On September 6, 2024 my truck quit running and I had it towed to ROKS DIESEL to be evaluated for the cause. Roks Diesel checked it on September 16, 2024 and said the High Pressure Fuel Pump failed and metal particles were throughout the fuel system and that the complete fuel system must be replaced and the tank cleaned. The fuel was checked for contamination and none was found. I called Port Lavaca Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep to see what I should do; I was told to tow it in and they would perform a duplicate recall. I explained that it needed to be towed from Victoria, TX, so they suggested I save some money and have it towed to Victoria Dodge, Ram, Chrysler, Jeep, which I did. Victoria Dodge, Ram, Chrysler, Jeep evaluated the truck and confirmed what Roks Diesel informed me. They went on to say the fuel was contaminated and there for I would have to pay to remove, reinstall, and clean the fuel tank. I repeatedly asked how they determined the fuel was contaminated and was not given an adequate answer. I was unsuccessful in negotiating with them over charging me for the cleaning of the fuel tank, and agreed to pay because I needed transportation. I contacted Ram Division and submitted all the documents necessary for reimbursement of my costs, which was rejected. I gave them a bad review on their handling of the situation, and they put me
ABS Control Module has failed, diagnosed by the Ram Dealer in Cape Coral Fl 9/24. They say repair part not available with no date of in stock for repair. Places driver in danger as ABS and skid control are disabled.
Power steering locked up while driving. Upon investigation discovered EPS had went out and found there was a current recall on the vehicle but not my specific Vin.
I was involved in a crash that resulted in a fatality on [XXX]. My truck was towed to Five Star Collision Center in Hurst, TX. The repairs were made to the body of my truck. I picked up the truck and ABS warning lights came on. I called Fove Star Collision Center and spoke to my point of contact- Nathan Hultquist. Nathan advised that I should drive the truck back immediately. I took the truck my to Nathan. He advised that I should drive the truck to the closest Dodge dealership. I did so. My ABS Module is out on my 2016 Ram.The warning lamps came on- service brake system, service trailer brake, ABS light stayed illuminated. This appeared 150 days ago. It has been at Grapevine Dodge for over 150 days. It is in limp mode and has been declared unsafe to drive. I have been in communication with Stellantis/MOPAR for the 150 days. There is no resolution. They claim there is no material to manufacture the part? It appears to be made of plastic? I feel that this is a safety concern due to the fact that if the brakes are applied in an emergency situation, the ABS fails and the brakes lock up. The truck can go into limp mode which is at 35 MPH. On a state highway, moving at that speed- that is NOT safe. There are plenty of these trucks out on the road that could have this same problem and cause serious accidents including a death. I ask for your assistance in this matter. This vehicle has had an open recall (22V-406) open since June 2022, Dodge Ram still hasn't provided enough parts to the dealers to fix this recall. The parts have been on back order for two years. Considering this vehicle is registered in California, soon this will lead to us not being able to renew our vehicle registration. Dodge Ram needs to produce and provide the parts necessary to remedy this recall, I feel that two years is sufficient time to get this completed.
Question 1 The front fuel tank strap pulled out of its mount due to corrsion. The vehicle may be inspected request. Question 2 The tank could have fallen out before I noticed causing accident fire or injuries. Question 3&4 It has not been by the dealer or other entity. Question 5 There were no warning lights or messages other than a noise. On the afternoon of Aug 27 2024 I noticed an unusual noise under the vehicle during brakeing. Backing onto a set of ramps and conducting an inspection I found the full 30 gallon fuel tank hanging front end low only being held in by the rear strap. The noise was caused by the front fuel tank strap to intermittantly rubbing the drive shaft. The strap had pulled out of the slot in the frame due to heavy corrosion. The sprap is not able to be reinstalled in it mount location due to it being rusted out. Doing online research on how to repair this I found a recall for 2009-2012 Ram 1500s with the same problem. Safety Recall V04/NHTSA 18V-160 Frame Bracket. If I had not noticed the noise I may not have known about the tank strap until the tank actually fell out. This vehicle is used to haul personal items, tow a classic car, and transport family.
When driving I lost steering and received dashboard alarm with service power steering. Turned the truck off, when I turned it back on the steering was working. A week later I lost steering again while driving.
Drove it to town. When I got back in to go home, the steering was very hard to use.
Warning messages stating to service ABS system, as well as service electronic brake system. Warning lights for the ABS, traction control, and parking brake come on on the dash. Usually comes after cold start in cooler weather.
Power steering completely failed luckily in a parking lot . We took it to the local Dodge dealer and they confirmed the (EPS) electronic power steering module had failed. The entire rack has to be replaced. Some but not all 2105-16 Ram truck had a recall for this exact thing but mine is not one. Now with this same failure i would really like for somebody to take a second look to make sure mine should or shouldn't have been included on this list
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel seized, and the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The power steering warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000. The VIN was not available.
The vehicle suddenly started performing very erratically on highway. After inspection the camshaft and lifters are very damaged and the engine is constantly misfiring. I have performed regular routine maintenance on this vehicle its whole life. There is no reason these parts should be damaged unless they were defective from the beginning.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while her son was driving 15 MPH and turning out of a parking lot, the power steering warning light illuminated and the vehicle lost power steering functionality, nearly causing a crash. The contact's son depressed the brake pedal and stopped the vehicle. The contact's son was able to push the vehicle to the side of the road with the assistance of a friend. The contact met her son at scene. The contact stated that after turning off and restarting the vehicle, the power steering became functional. The contact's husband was able to drive the vehicle from the scene. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: RQ23003 (Steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
While turning left out of the school parking lot, the steering wheel locked and prevented any further steering ability while actively driving at approximately 15 miles per hour. The power steering light on the console flashed immediately prior to the event but stayed on while the truck was in motion and then finally stopped. After leaving the truck at rest and turned off for approximately 15 minutes , we were able to unlock the steering wheel and drive the vehicle home. This issue has occurred no less than 5 times in the past year, although previously the steering locked for just a few seconds.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the power steering failed with the “Service Power Steering” warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred while making a left turn. The contact stated that due to the failure there was almost a crash with another vehicle. The contact turned off the vehicle and allowed the vehicle to sit for several minutes. The contact stated that when the vehicle was restarted, the “Service Power Steering” warning light was off. Additionally, the contact stated that the power steering failure was persistent. The contact stated that when the failure occurred, the steering wheel was difficult to turn. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with rack and pinion failure. The contact was informed that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,500.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle started shaking abnormally. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and was informed by a mechanic that the front passenger’s side wheel lug nuts and bolts were loosened and had detached. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was determined that the lug nuts were missing. The dealer stated that the wheel, lug nuts, bolts, and hub needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that on March 19th, 2025, the failure reoccurred while driving approximately 75 MPH. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road and became aware that the lug nuts had either sheared off or had detached from the vehicle. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to another dealer, who replaced three lug bolts and lug nuts. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 178,080.
The ABS Control Module has faulted and no longer allows for the ABS System, Traction Control System or Cruise Control System to operate properly and also leaves the BRAKE light illuminated (which should indicate the parking brake is engaged). This part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and there is no timeline associated with a replacement part. This allows for the vehicle to be operated without the required ABS system functioning and no feasible timeline to make repairs to this system. The dealer has ran diagnostics to confirm ABS Control Module failure. This problem has caused a dashboard warning light and was brought to a Ram dealership promptly for diagnostics/repair. MOPAR and RamTrucks has been contacted multiple times without a follow up from the company.
Front fuel strap corroded at frame of truck, causing fuel tank to fall while driving on highway
Steering wheel locked up and the dealership stated many of these trucks have this problem, with the rack and pinion system. The part is on back order for 2 months, I would say that is a red flag. This could've been very serious.
