The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the ABS, traction control, and "Service anti-lock braking system" warning lights and messages were illuminated. The four-wheel drive and cruise control were also inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer diagnosed with a code reader that the anti-lock brake control module and hydraulic control unit was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
My 2017 Ram 2500 diesel pickup truck has a failure code of C0020-01 - ABS Pump Motor Control General Electrical Failure. This is for the antilock brakes. I had an outside repair shop check the code with a scan tool along with a Ram dealership. The warning light & alarm goes on and off non stop when driving or even sitting still (very annoying) which also means my antilock brakes are not working. In Michigan, that is a very helpful safety feature when driving on snow and ice. I have contacted the factory Ram customer service number 4 times now and all I'm told is it is out of warranty. I could see that if the truck had, say 100,000 miles on it, but it only has 22,000 miles on it and the antilock brakes need to be worked on already? I'm not asking for new brake pads here. This is a safety issue and Ram Trucks should be forced into a recall about it. I am not the only one. Google it and you will find many, and I mean many trucks having the same issue and many comment, why isn't there a recall on such a safety item as antilock brakes. When talking to the service rep, he said they don't have the parts in stock and they do not have an ETA when any will be available. Makes me wonder if so many others are buying them, they cannot get enough to keep up with demand. We all want safer roads. So I ask, why do we have auto manufacturers install antilock brake systems on new vehicles and then not stand behind them? I realize my truck is out of warranty, but 22,000 miles on my truck and I need serious brake work already? Unexcusable Ram!
Anti-lock brakes do not work on my 2017 Ram 2500 diesel and haven't for over a year and a half. Light constantly flashes on dash with alarm. I brought it to the dealership, and they said the "Hydraulic Control Unit" is faulty but was told Ram is not even making the part. In Michigan winters, anti-lock brakes are a huge safety issue. My truck is the diesel version weighing in at 7,000 lbs. Trying to stop in the winter is a huge problem. Even if I sell the truck, it's still going to be a problem for whoever buys it. If you Google it, you will find numerous other Ram pickups for 2017 & 2018 with the same problem. I don't understand why brake issues are not a recall.
This is an ongoing problem and it appears to be affecting other owners of this vehicle as well. The code is C0020-001. The ABS/Traction control light comes on - a message to service the Anti-Lock braking system comes on - and the cruise control does not work. This happens intermittently sometimes 20 times in a minute, sometimes it's 20 times a day and sometimes I can go 2 or 3 days without it coming on at all. It's very frustrating and unnerving as the cruise control just drops out while you're driving which is not safe. The ABS also does not function with this issue. This issue needs to be addressed. Additionally there is a parts shortage for this repair most obviously because the parts are in short supply with everyone needing to make this repair. There are countless other people who are having this issue besides myself. Please issue a recall. This is not safe.
I have a C0020-01(ABS pump motor control general electrical failure) code on my 2017 Ram 2500 truck with only 43,xxx miles. This code and mechanical issue was identified/confirmed by a Ram dealership. The ABS/traction control warning light started intermittently turning on, and then off about 1,000 miles ago and has continued until now. With this issue, the ABS/traction controls do not work on the vehicle. This alone puts myself, my family’s, and other people’s lives at risk. This is a very well documented and well known safety issue on these Ram trucks. Any simple internet search will show that this is true. Even the Ram Service Representative said that these trucks should be recalled because of this safety issue. There should absolutely be a recall because it is a direct safety issue that involves so many of these Ram trucks. With an extremely common faulty ABS/traction control issue such as this, people’s lives are at risk. I believe that I shouldn’t have to pay Ram over 1,000 dollars to have this safety issue fixed, but I will because it will be to keep my family safe by having a functioning ABS and traction control system on my truck.
ABS malfunction indicator lamp, service ABS system and service electronic braking system message intermittently coming on. Sometimes for a short period of time and sometimes stay on for entire trip. Causes cruise control and traction control to be immobilized. My safety is at risk due to the ABS and traction control not being functional. I have not had it diagnosed by a dealer yet, however there are hundreds if not thousands of people on Ram forums complaining of the same issues without Ram taking care of the fix and the costs are on the vehicle owners. Its not something like a radio is having issues, its the braking system, which I would think that RAM or FCA and the NHTSA would think is a pretty serious problem with these vehicles.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the ABS and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ABS and hydraulic control unit modules needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that the failure reoccurred and that the cruise control also failed to activate as needed. The vehicle was then taken to Arrigo Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM West Palm Beach (6500 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33411), where it was diagnosed that the ABS and hydraulic control unit modules needed to be replaced again; however, the parts were on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
The Hydraulic Control Unit and the Anti-lock brake module on my 2017 Ram 2500 Diesel truck is going out. It has 84,000 miles on this truck. This is very costly to repair and Ram knows it is a problem! It is also very dangerous for the brakes to be an issue on any vehicle, but especially on one that has a heavy front end as diesel trucks do. The braking system must be reliable to stop the truck itself. This truck was built and designed to pull trailers and as a work truck. It is very dangerous to consider that these 2 components are not working when pulling a loaded trailer which depends on the braking system as well to stop the vehicle. I am also enclosing several websites to show you that Ram knows there is a problem but hasn't issued a recall on the problem. One of these sites is a Ram forum that shows many people are dealing with this issue. https://www.ramforumz.com/threads/abs-hcu-replacement.276340/ https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/forums/3rd-generation-ram-non-drivetrain-all-years-101/abs-cab-hcu-replacement-218820/ Thank you for your time! Scott McKenzie, Arkansas
The contact's son owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while her son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle loss motive power without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer could not replicate the failure after test driving the vehicle for 75 miles. The failure recurred after the contact's son received the vehicle back from the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired and was waiting for an unknown part to arrive in December for the dealer to replace. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened and the manufacturer provided a rental vehicle for the contact's son. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
The truck had this issue at 7800 miles when I purchased it and now at 33000 miles I have it diagnosed. The ABS control module and hydraulic control module have failed which causes the ABS to not work. This has caused the tires to skid during hard braking or winter weather. Luckily, I am aware of this issue and can anticipate braking needs and adjust accordingly.
SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM AND ABS WARNINGS, BOTH VISIBLE AND AUDIBLE. THE EFFECT OF THE MODULE FAILURE ON BRAKES AND SAFETY IS UNKNOWN. THE WARNINGS CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME, WHEN STARTING VEHICLE, OR WHEN DRIVING. SOMETIMES THE WARNINGS SUBSIDE BUT SEEM TO BE TRIGGERED EASILY BY HITTING A SMALL BUMP ON THE ROAD WHILE MOVING. Currently Dealer can not fix as the part is backordered. (Sept 2021)
We were told by a car dealer the head gasket might be bad. So, we had it towed to a mechanic, where it was repaired.
On approximately 7/20/2021 service anti lock brakes and service traction control warning lights and beeper were activated. The warranty had just expired due to date not mileage. Upon investigating on line I found this was a wide spread problem with no recall at this time. The fix is to replace antilock brake pump at a cost of 800 to 1,500 $. Dodge could not tell me if the part was upgraded or they are installing a newer version. They also would require a 250.00 scan after I supplied them a code on my scanner that identifies the same problem and a code. Now the warning lights go on and off on rough roads but mostly stays lit. I don’t know how much of a safety issue this is but apparently I don’t have traction control when the light is lit. As of a couple months ago the parts were not available.
At around 80k miles, started getting the service anti-lock brake system, electronic braking system alarms. Traction control light and abs light are on permanently now. What's funny is that now the rear parking sensor failed which makes me wonder if all this in the electrical system is tied together. Dealer said it was the hydraulic control unit. That did not fix it. Next it was a wheel speed sensor. That did not fix it. Then it was abs module but it is "discontinued." In other words, Chrysler knows there is a major issue and NEEDS to issue a recall but hasn't yet! I have over a grand in this and it's not fixed. Dealer said that they don't know what the fix is. Please issue a recall!
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the ABS warning light remained illuminated, and the vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that the HECU was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that the ABS warning light had returned and remained illuminated. The approximate failure mileage was 62,421. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The warning light on dash says check airbag system and the red warning light goes on
The HCU for my truck failed and was replaced 6/25/2021. It failed again 12/2024 but before it could be replaced a recal for the HCU came out with the warning "The loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning" Now the warning light keeps coming on and going off with the alarm sound as I drive. It also turns off the cruise control. This has been going on for well over a year with no date for a fix of something that can cause a crash without prior warning. There doesnt seem to be any urgency to fix something that can cause such a big problem. I have no choice other than to keep driving my truck hoping for the best. Any help with this is most appreciated. Thank you for your time, G. May
Had certified preowned truck aligned after purchase and shop could not adjust front end to stop pull to the right. Took it back to the dealer and they replaced a drag link (but tech said it had nothing to do with the pull) and the second time they rotated front tires left to right. Still pulls to right. Googled problem and I find that it is a common problem with Ram trucks but requires an after market install of ball joints to be able to adjust for the pull. Overheard a service writer who stated “ you can’t align a Ram”.
This issue was repaired by the dealer one year ago and it has happened again, they tried to charge me by pretending they didnt know about the previous repair. the internet is full with the exact same complaint and how is this not a recall to hold them accountable?? the service electronic brake system and ABS lights come on and off each time making annoying noises. when the lights are on the 4x4, cruise control and other items will not engage. the dealer agreed to repair it but told me to call in 5 months to see IFFFF any parts are available this not only shows its a wide spread problem but their incompetency to fix it. how do I know the second module they replace wont malfunction as well???
The automatic high beam does not go from high to low automaticly.
Reference recall 19V-021. Due to fixing the problem the steering linkage was welded, because it is welded I am unable to get a front end alignment done. So my truck now pulls to the right and there is no way to fix it.
ABS MODULE AND HYDRAULIC PUMP FAILED AFTER ONLY 35000 MILES
DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY AND BOTH SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS DEPLOYED FROM SEATS AND THE CEILING COVERING ALL SIDE WINDOWS FOR NO APPARENT REASON AT ALL.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the ABS warning light was illuminated, causing the cruise control feature to become inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the dealer determined that the failure was related to the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the HCU was previously replaced after a similar failure. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE OF ABS AND CRUISE CONTROL AT 22, 275 MILES. HAD TO REPLACE BOTH THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (PUMP) AND THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT. INTERMITTENT WARNING LIGHTS WHILE VEHICLE IN MOTION AND NO ABS OR CURISE CONTROL AVAILABLE.
ABS and HCU have gone bad and parts are not available. Please help. This should be recalled, these parts have gone bad in many of the 2017 and 2018 ram trucks.
I own a 2017 Ram the electronic breaking system light kept coming on when I had about 34000 miles on it but I had it over the 3 year period for warranty. Paid dealership about $1200.00 to get it fixed. Again at about 45,000 miles it started it again. Checked with dealer said it would cost about $1400.00 to get corrected and they would have to wait for parts. I see a lot of others have had the same problem with that model. I feel as lot of others, this should be a recall item. Also cruise control want work when light is on. Ram is going to wait until someone has a wreck and a fatality before they do anything about this issue. Also there will be a class action suit against them and they will be plenty follow. Hope how soon Ram decides to honor this defective issue.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 RAM 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE DEF PUMP GAUGE REGISTERED A ZERO (0). THE PUMP WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHO REPLACED THE DEF PUMP HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact had reached a stop sign and when depressing on the accelerator pedal to accelerate when the vehicle loss motive power and stalled. The contact had to restart the vehicle for the vehicle continue to drive, however the failure persist several times intermittently. No warning lights illuminated on the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer to have inspected the vehicle but could not duplicate the failure on the vehicle and could not diagnosed the failure on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximate 15,000.
WHEN PULLING OUT ONTO A BUSY INTERSECTION YOU PUSH THE PEDAL DOWN AND THE VEHICLE STUMBLES OR COMPLETELY DOESN'T REACT. IT HAS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST BE INVOLVED IN A SIDE COLLISION BECAUSE I COULDN'T GET POWER TO CROSS A LANE OF TRAFFIC. I CALLED DEALER AND THEY SAY ITS A COMMON THING THAT HAPPENS AND THERE IS CURRENTLY NO FIX. THEY ARE CALLING IT ""DEAD PEDAL"" RAM HAS TO HAVE A FIX FOR THIS. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE I HAVE HEARD A EGR DELETE AND TUNE WILL FIX THE ISSUE. EGR DELETE IS ILLEGAL IN MY STATE AND I DO NOT WANT TO MODIFY MY VEHICLE FROM FACTORY SPECS. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION AND RAM NEEDS TO MAKE A FIX FOR THE ISSUE.
AFTER APPROXIMATELY 8K MILES MY 2017 RAM 2500 INTERMITTENTLY HAD THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATE. AT FIRST IT WOULD ONLY TEMPORARILY FLICKER AND CHIME, BVENTUALLY THE CODE/LIGHTS REMAINED IN THE SYSTEM. WHEN THIS OCCURS CRUISE CONTROL IS NOT AVAILABLE. I'M NOT SURE IF THE ABS OR TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEMS OPERATE. AFTER MULTIPLE VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP THE ISSUE WAS LOCATED AND THE ABS MODULE AND HYDRAULIC MOTOR CONTROL WERE REPLACED. EVERYTHING HAS OPERATED PROPERLY UNTIL THE LAST COUPLE WEEKS, WHICH IS 2 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS LATER, WITH 19.8K MILES. AFTER STARTING THE TRUCK AND LETTING OFF THE BRAKE THE ABS/TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS FLASHED AND THEN IT DIDN'T REOCCUR FOR SEVERAL DAYS. THEN AS TIME WENT ON AND BUMPIER ROADS WERE ENCOUNTERED IT WOULD HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY, SOMETIMES SEVERAL TIMES PER MINUTE. THIS FELT EXACTLY LIKE WHAT I HAD EXPERIENCED PREVIOUSLY. THEN IT WAS BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CODE WAS TRACED TO C0020 - ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL - GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE. SO AGAIN, THE ABS MODULE AND HYDRAULIC MOTOR CONTROL NEEDED REPLACEMENT. AFTER A HANDFUL OF MILES THINGS ARE BACK TO NORMAL.
THERE IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THE CUMMINGS DIESEL ENGINE REGARDING THE INTAKE AIR GRID RISER, THAT IF NOT REPLACED WILL CAUSE COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. THE BOLT INSIDE THE GRID FAILS DUE TO EROSION FROM HEAT OR ELECTRICAL CURRENT EXPOSURE AND DROPS INTO THE ENGINE DESTROYING THE PISTON
FRONT PASSENGER SIDE UNDERBODY FRAME BOLT & NUT CAME OUT CAUSING LOAD NOISE AND FRAME ENGINE SUPPORT SHIFTED DOWN 25MILS AND FORWARD. OCCURRED IN PARKING LOT 5 MPH GOING OVER SPEED BUMP. REQUESTED DEALERSHIP TO CHECK ALL OTHER UNDERBODY TORQUE SETTING.
THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM REQUIRES I HAVE 60 PSI IN THE FRONT TIRES AND 80 PSI IN THE REAR TIRES. UNLESS I HAVE A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF WEIGHT LOADED IN THE PICKUP BOX, THE REAR TIRES ARE OVER-INFLATED AT 80 PSI. THIS OVER-INFLATED CONDITION CAUSES A RAPID WEARING OF THE REAR TIRES. MY REAL CONCERN THOUGH, IS THAT THE OVER-INFLATED CONDITION CAUSE THE TIRES TO LOSE TRACTION UNEXPECTEDLY DURING WET OR ICY CONDITIONS. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS MY VEHICLE HAS BECOME 'SQUIRRELLY' WHILE I WAS JUST DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. MY DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THE PRESSURE IS SET AT THE FACTORY AND CAN NOT BE CHANGED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND THAT REMOVING THE PRESSURE SENSORS WOULD CAUSE MY DASH GAUGES TO INDICATE I HAD NO PRESSURE IN THE TIRES. THIS OVER-INFLATED TIRE PRESSURE SITUATION IS CAUSING A VERY HAZARDOUS CONDITION, NOT ONLY TO MYSELF BUT TO OTHERS AS WELL. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED. THIS IS A ONGOING SITUATION BUT IS ESPECIALLY HAZARDOUS DURING WINTER MONTHS.
CRACKING IN SIDEWALL OF 2 TIRES. ONE WAS NOTICED WITH 12000 MILES, CONTACTED MANUFACTURER AND WAS PRORATED TO 50% AND REPLACED. NOW TIRE NUMBER 2 HAS A CRACK WITH 16400 MILES
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, ON A RIGHT HAND CORNER I TURNED AND COULD HEAR AND FEEL A 'POP'. THEN HAD SLOP IN THE STEERING, NEARLY CAUSING ME TO CATASTROPHICALLY CRASH . I CONTROLLED IT ENOUGH OFF THE ROADWAY INTO A FIELD AND STOPPED, IF THERE WAS A GUARDRAIL OR DROP OFF, I WOULD HAVE MAJORLY CRASHED. I COULD TURN LEFT, GO STRAIGHT. BUT GOING RIGHT I'D TURN THE WHEEL 1 FULL TURN BEFORE IT 'ENGAGED' STEERING. AFTER INSPECTING THE TRUCK, I NOTICED THE TRACK BAR WOULD MOVE 4-6 INCHES BEFORE THE WHEELS WOULD EVER MOVE. WHEN SHAKING THE WHEEL WHILE PARKED, THE WHEELS WOULD NOT MOVE BUT THE ENTIRE BODY OF THE TRUCK WAS MOVING LIKE CRAZY AS IF IT WERE DANCING. AFTER PULLING THE TRACK BAR OFF THE TRUCK, THE ENTIRE 'HEAD' AROUND THE BEARING ATTACHED TO FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WAS COMPLETELY SHEARED SHEARED ON 1 POINT CAUSING THE BEARING TO HAVE FREE PLAY. THIS TRUCK IS 3 YEARS OLD WITH 57,000 PAVEMENT MILES. CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE STEERING MECHANISM SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AND COULD POTENTIALLY KILL SOMEONE.
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES PER HOUR A VEHICLE TURN IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE AND I DEPRESSED THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE SHUTDOWN AND WAS ABANDONED IN THE ROADWAY DUE TO LOSS OF POWER. VEHICLES BEHIND ME CONDUCTED EVASIVE MANEUVERS NARROWLY MISSING MY VEHICLE DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. I WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH A FAULTY FUEL PUMP AND IT HAD BROKEN INTO SEVERAL PIECES INSIDE THE FUEL TANK. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED WITH CHRYSLER; HOWEVER, THEY DO NOT SEE IT AS A SAFETY ISSUE. CLEARLY LOSS OF POWER WHILE OPERATING A VEHICLE ON A BUSY ROADWAY IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RECTIFIED BEFORE PEOPLE ARE KILLED OR INJURED. I LOST POWER IN BRAKES AND STEERING.
THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT WHICH OPERATES THE BRAKING SYSTEM ,SPEED CONTROL, CRUISE CONTROL.
My truck has a failure of the ABS system to include the cruise control. This failure has resulted in the brakes locking during slick conditions and the vehicle to slide. I was not going fast so there was not crash. My truck is showing a code coc0020-10 (ABS pumpmotor control-general failure). This failure was repaired (replaced the HCU) by the dealership on 10/06/2020 and this temporarily fixed this issue. In 2022 this issue started again, and I contacted the dealership and was referred to Ram customer support. Ram customer support told me that the HCU was under engineering review and the review should be completed by Aug 2023. At last check there has been no new part number to replace the defective parts. I feel this issue should be fixed with a mandatory recall.
MY 2017 RAM 2500 HAD 55K MILES WHEN I GOT A DASHBOARD WARNING INDICATING THAT SERVICE OF MY ELECTRONIC BRAKING SYSTEM WAS NEEDED. I ALSO GOT WARNING INDICATORS FOR ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL. I HAD POOR BRAKING, NO TRACTION CONTROL AND NO CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THESE WARNING LIGHTS WERE LIT. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED THE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU), COSTING ME $750. MY RESEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS TRUCK AT VARIOUS LEVELS OF MILEAGE, AND RAM/FCA HAS RESTRICTED THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE HCUS IN RECOGNITION OF THIS PROBLEM. RAM REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS A PRODUCT DEFECT. I'VE OWNED MANY OTHER BRANDS OF VEHICLES (BMW, TOYOTA, HONDA), WITH VARYING LEVELS OF MILEAGE, AND NONE OF THEM HAVE EVERY EXPERIENCED A FAILURE IN ABS COMPONENTS. RAM/FCA SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THESE COMPONENTS HAVE A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AND REIMBURSE CLIENTS WHO PAID TO HAVE THE PARTS REPLACED.
The ABS light along with the Traction Control light comes on intermittently. Since 2017 I have had this issue twice. The first time the ABS Control Module and pump was changed and fixed the issue for almost two years. It was replaced with OEM parts however the problem has reoccurred. I've had the shop that replaced the first pump check out this problem only to be told the only way to repair it is to replace the pump yet again. I use this vehicle to two a fifth wheel trailer and don't feel safe in it as this could relate to a serious accident causing injury or death. Not to mention the cost involved to me as a consumer. The machinic stated to me that the ABS Pumps for 2017 an 18 where defective.
BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR ONLY WHILE AT SLOW SPEEDS AND STOPPED. RAM STATED ITS NORMAL FOR TRUCK TO HAVE SOFT BRAKES WHEN STOPPED OR SLOWER DRIVING. WITH THE SOFT PEDAL SINKING TO THE IT SEEMS TO BE A SAFETY FACTOR AS IT DON'T HAVE FULL BRAKING PRESSURE TO HOLD THE VEHICLE STILL WHILE ON AN INCLINE. ODDLY IF YOU PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL THE BRAKES BEGIN WORKING AGAIN. MANY FORUMS ONLINE HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE BUT IT SEEMS MOPAR ISN'T CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY ASPECT AND THE IMPORTANCE OF BRAKES.
SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER, WAS PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC ON STATE HIGHWAY AND TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PASS 20 MPH. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AFTER PULLING OVER AND STOPPING AND RESTARTING, TRUCK WAS ABLE TO OPERATE NORMALLY EXCEPT FOR LOSS OF THE EXHAUST BRAKE. TOOK TO DEALER AND DEALER STATED IT WAS THE TURBO ACTUATOR AND STATED IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. SHOULD BE A TSB OR RECALL IN MY OPINION. TRUCK HAS 82000 MILES.
I PUT MY VAN IN DRIVE AN THEN IT STARTED AND IT STARTED BUCKING AND THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 RAM 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 75 MPH, ON CRUISE CONTROL AND ACCELERATED TO OVERTAKE ANOTHER VEHICLE, THE THROTTLE STUCK WITHOUT WARNING. HE MANAGED TO PULL THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE AND PUTTING IT IN NEUTRAL, AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT TOO MUCH PRESSURE WAS PUT ON THE BRAKES AND CAUSED THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES TO BURN AMID HEAVY SMOKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LARRY H. MILLER JEEP DEALER (8525 LOMAS BLVD NE, ALBUQUERQUE, NM 87110) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT OIL WAS OVERFILLED AND GOT INTO THE CRANKCASE. THE TECHNICIAN CLEANED THE CRANKCASE, INSTALLED NEW ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED ABOUT THE RECALL, NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V332000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED EXCEPT THE CRUSE CONTROL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,630.
HI...RAM IS FAILING TO INVESTIGATE MY COMPLAINT. I HAD VERBATIM THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN TO ME AS IN MY DOCUMENTATION. I ALSO HAVE DASH CAM FOOTAGE THAT THEY WON'T REVIEW SHOWING THERE WAS NO ROAD DEBRIS. I WAS DRIVING UP A STEEP GRADE, TOWING A TRAILER, THE RADIATOR WENT INTO OVERDRIVE, AND THEN MY SHROUD GOT SUCKED IN. FURTHER PROOF OF THE FAILED INSTALLATION ARE THE DUST RINGS ON MY SHROUD. MY TWO CONCERNS ARE THE ISSUE ITSELF AS WELL AS RAMS FAILURE TO EXAMINE MY CONCERNS INCLUDING EVIDENCE OF FAILED INSTALLATION AS WELL AS DASH CAM FOOTAGE PROVING THAT WHAT THEY CLAIM IS FALSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 RAM 2500. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 19V818000 (EQUIPMENT, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AND 20V036000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT CALLED HILL-KELLY DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (6171 PENSACOLA BLVD, PENSACOLA, FL 32505, (850) 972-2050) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 RAM 2500. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V818000 (EQUIPMENT, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS AGO, THE CONTACT CALLED HENDRICKS CHRYSLER JEEP RAM FIAT OF CONCORD DEALER (7630 HENDRICKS AUTO PLAZA, CONCORD, NC 28027) WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN ENGINE WAS IDLING IT WOULD VIBRATE. THE CONTACT THEN STATED THAT RECENTLY, WHILE DRIVING A BURNING ODOR WAS DETECTED, HE TURNED OF THE VEHICLE, OPENED THE HOOD AND SAW SMOKE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE COOLING FAN FAILS TO OPERATE. THE DEALER WAS CALLED SEVERAL TIMES AND INFORMED THAT THE RECALL REMEDY PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE DID NOT CALL THE DEALER TO MAKE THEM AWARE OF THE LATEST FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 385,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE (19V818000).
2020 - Started experiencing antilock brake light going on/off. May 2020 - Took to Dealer at 13,179 miles. Dealer replaced anti lock brake control under warranty. November 2022 - Took to Dealer at 29,404 miles with same issues that occurred in 2020. Replaced ABS module but issue was not resolved. Dealer said truck needs Hydraulic ABS pump which they do not have. Search of Internet determined that my experience is similar to other owners.
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS SIMULTANEOUSLY ACTIVATE, BELLS START RINGING AND A NOTIFICATION IN THE DISPLAY SCREEN. THE ISSUE STARTED IN OCTOBER OF 2019 WHEN STILL IN WARRANTY. THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM AND CLAIMED NO CODES. STARTING IN DECEMBER 2019 THE ISSUE STARTED MORE REGULAR, THE DEALER COULD NOT GET US IN AT THAT TIME. THEN THE ISSUE QUIT FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. IT HAS NOW GOTTEN TO BE A REGULAR ISSUE AND STAYS ACTIVE MORE THEN NOT. OCCURS MOSTLY DRIVING IN JUST ABOUT ANY CONDITION AND SPEED, HAS OCCURRED A FEW TIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. THE LOCAL DEALER TELLS US IT IS REGULAR OCCURRENCE ON THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. PARTS ARE ACTUALLY A DEALER LIMITED ITEM AND NOT IN STOCK. IT HAS NOW GOTTEN TO WHERE MY WIFE DOES NOT WANT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. WE ARE WORKING WITH FCA TO GET SOME ASSISTANCE. THE DEALER TELLS IT NEED THE ABS PUMP (HCU) AND CONTROLLER. $880 FOR WHAT APPEARS TO BE DEFECTIVE SAFETY PART. VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER 3/30/2020 CURRENT MILEAGE: 46579 NOTE: WE HAVE HEARD FROM OTHERS IN THIS AREA WITH THE SAME TYPE OF FAILURE AND INTERNET SEARCHES REVEAL DOZENS. WE ARE VERY HAPPY WITH THE TRUCK AND JUST HOPE FCA/RAM DOES DUE DILIGENCE AND TAKES CARE OF THE PROBLEM.
