ABS and traction control lights keep turning on and off. Service anti lock brake system message appears then disappears.
ABS warning and traction control lights will stay on
Def exhaust system came on and says I have 120 miles left before it shuts down. I just bought it at the end of August with only 75000 miles on it
During a snow storm, ABS and traction control lamps came on. The truck would not come to a controlled stop. After much sliding and skidding it came to a stop by hitting a snow abatement and curb line.
ABS Traction control lights
C0020-01 code. ABS pump. Truck only has 35,390 miles on it. Been replaced once in 2020 under warranty and faulty again. Of course now out of warranty. Seems to be a common problem affecting over 400,000 trucks. Why is there no recall?
The ABS and Traction control lights began to flash and the alarm began to come on intermittently in 2021. I took the truck to the dealer for repairs because the ABS, Traction Control and Cruise Control were not working. The repair cost was $1,00.00 at my expense. The problem has recently returned and is going to need repaired at my expense again. The ABS system not working causes a safety concern with stopping the vehicle. This is a know issue with these vehicles as such I feel it should be the manufactures responsibility for repairs.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS and traction control warning lights illuminated. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.
I have an ABS light on and a traction control light. I understand this is a problem with 2017 Ram 2500 and the 2018 Ram 2500. It is my understanding from the dealer it will cost over $1,000.00 for the repair so that my brakes will work properly. Vehicle has less than 87,000 miles on it. I feel this should be brought to your attention. This is a safety issue for all affected vehicles. Ram knows about the issue and has failed to address the problem. I feel this should be corrected immediately. This is a safety issue for the motoring public.
The ABS brake system has failed and been replaced 3 times now and it is bad again. It needs to be recalled. The truck only has 53,000 miles
Fault: "Service Anti-Lock Brake System" warning light appears intermittently Fault Code: C0020-01 ABS Pump Motor Control General Electric Failure - The above problem resulted in unexpected loss of ABS brake control, loss of Traction control and 4-wheel drive during hazardous driving conditions where these features are highly required, causing us to narrowly avoid pedestrians and other nearby vehicles. - We have discovered multiple complaints of this mechanical error with vehicles of the same model, year and make. Pressure to have the manufacture recall vehicles with this problem has been enacted with no resolution to date. See RAM Technical Service Bulletin #S2005000004
Service antilock break system warning lights for the second time now. Replaced abs control module and hydraulic control unit at 51000 miles now at 56000 they are bad again. 1400.00$ in less than a year to keep my breaks working as they should with no recall on parts
I keep getting the ABS/Traction control warning lights and aural dinging warning on my 2017 Diesel Ram 2500. I pull a 10,000 LB trailer and without this feature, this is a hazard and danger to me, my occupants in my truck and other motorists on the highway. I do 95% of my driving in the mountains so it is a very crucial, critical and dangerous situation when I don't have ABS operating. If there is ever an accident, Dodge is open to a law suit because there hasn't been a recall on this. I've read several other owners of this vehicle with the same issue. Please have Dodge company do a recall for everyone's safety.
We too our 2017 Dodge Ram 2500 to Lenoir City Chrysler Dodge on January 11, 2024 because the Antilock Brake System (ABS) and Traction Control warning lights were coming on. The truck was in the shop for about a week. We were told initially that the part (electronic control module) was on order. Then we were told that the part was under redevelopment and that they did not have a date for when the part would be available. We do not know if the truck is safe to drive or not so we have not been driving it. All we want is to purchase the part so we can use a truck the cost us $43,000.
Picked up my truck from the dealership and my ABS, and traction control light came on, and i lost my abs function and traction control. The my dash started flickering and it would go in and out. Now my heat also has stopped working. Truck is saying service abs system, service electronic braking, service rear park sensor. I do not feel safe in this vehicle as i did my research and see how many vehicles have been affected, i cannot believe Ram has not done a recall as with out my abs i almost slid off the road as it was icy out that day and i was unaware my abs would just stop like that.
ABS AND LSC WARNING LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF. THE CRUISE CONTROL KICKS OFF. WARNING BELL DINGS OFF AND ON. CHECKED AND MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THE SYSTEM
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000(Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the ABS and ESC warning lights were illuminated. An unknown local dealer was contacted and confirmed that the recall part was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.
Electronic braking systems and abs needs to be serviced. I have repaired this issue 3 times already from the dealership. It has popped up again
My braking ABS HCU has failed 4 times in 6 years. At 4495, 10,058, 15,198, and 20,052 miles (last week.) Included is the paperwork associated with those failures that renders the ABS, and potentially the entire braking system into a failure mode. As noted in the paperwork, it happens about every 5,000 miles. Warning lights appear and dinging go off stating the ABS system needs serviced. At times its intermittent and other times it stays on. My research has found this is a very well noted problem with the 2017 and 2018 Dodge Ram trucks. In addition, there is a safety class action suit in California. Last date it occurred is noted below. I have all the repair data available electronically. However there must be a glitch in your system. When I hit the upload button it does not allow for an upload. Would be more than happy to provide.
ABS and traction control light came on, when faults were pulled, active fault # C0020-01. After contacting dealer, Service department stated it is due to faulty ABS module and Hydraulic control unit in 2017 and 2018 models. Parts are on national back order with no available ETA.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the ABS warning light illuminated, and the cruise control deactivated unintendedly. The failure mileage was 65,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
ABS light and traction control lights display, as well as flashing messages “Service ABS System” and “Service Electronic Braking System” when weather is wet or when I hit a bump or pothole in the road. Dealer states the ABS module and hydraulic control unit needs replaced and that the ABS system could lock up during emergency braking and suggested not driving. Parts are backordered until July 2024.
We bought our truck in August 2023. At the end of January 2024 a light came on saying we had 150 miles before the engine shut down to 5 mph. A week later we get a recall letter, and take it to a dealership, they fix the recall they said, but before we got home, the light came on again. They told us to drive it a few days and it might go off. It stayed on we took it back to dealership. The recall apparently says to reprogram the def system. That is not the problem. The dealership said they did their part. Carmax said they don’t cover anything. We did buy an extended warranty. They came in an inspector looked at the truck and approved to only replace the def injector, one nut and a sensor. The problem that we face is that when they go to replace the deaf injector it possibly is going to damage the STR or SCR pipe no one will cover that. So we are now facing four to $8000 for repairs to a truck we just bought. we’ve only had it four months. Someone should be liable. We are now without transportation, no way for my husband to get to work so we will probably end up losing his job and the truck and have to move all over a defective truck that was sold to us.
My ABS, traction control lights come on and off also loose the ability to use cruise control and electronic breaking system while pulling my trailers. This has been brought to the dealership and fixed once already and it only lasted long enough for the 1 year warranty to expire and it has started doing the same thing again. Also loose my trailer lights when this happens...
My ABS light has been on for 2 years. It was previously diagnosed as the ABS pump/module. The parts were on backorder. The C4B Recall came out over a year ago. There is still no parts available. My truck is at the dealer right now and they said they can't do anything with the Recall. I figured they could at least verify the failure and put in an order for the part. This a big safety issue for tons of RAM owners as most of us bought these trucks to tow and haul heavy equipment, trailers etc.. I am on several forums and everyone wants to get these repairs completed.
ABS System Module/System Brake Failure Unsafe and Can not drive anymore The problem was produced December 5, 2024 and they have refused to fix the recall. The problem has been inspected by several local dealerships as well as team Dodge ram and Chrysler Corporation There is warning lights that actually accelerate and go off every 60 seconds as you’re driving. This has been going on for years and it was like this four days to five days after we drove off the car lot and we paid $40,000 for this truck..
my truck has 130,000 miles on it currently. At approximately 37,000 miles the ABS and Stability systems stopped working due to a faulty Hydraulic pump. I paid $800 to have the pump and control module replaced at the dealership. The brakes worked normally for approximately 20,000 miles. Around 60,000 miles the ABS and Stability systems stopped working again with the same fault codes as before. The pump has failed again due to a stuck brush in the motor. repair parts are not available and I've been forced to continue driving my vehicle with reduced braking and handling performance for the last 90,000 miles. The manufacture needs to get it together and produce parts that will not fail and they need to be replaced at their cost.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 MPH, the ABS inadvertently activated while making a turn. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the ABS pump was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who determined that the electronic module needed to be replaced, but the part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
Digital instrument cluster has stopped working.
Abs lights keep coming on and going off while driving. New abs pump and module. Dealer says just put another one on at 1500 a time or more. Countless other people are having same issue
The contact owns a 2017 RAM 2500. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the ABS warning light illuminated, and the cruise control mode became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The contact was made aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000(Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
ABS module and HCU. Very hard to stop and kicks off cruise control all of a sudden. It was replaced 1 year ago less than 7000 miles and it went out again
Continue to get Service ABS and Service Electronic Braking System warning lights. ABS does not work when warning lights are on returns to normal when warning is off. no other detected issues with the braking system. It is displaying code: C0020-01
I bought the truck new in 2017. in July of 2019 I got a Traction control ABS warning light. I took it to the dealer and they told me that the HCU system needed replaced. They performed the repair under warranty. In July of 2021 I got the same warning and again took the vehicle to the dealer and they told me I had to have the repair performed again. Once again they performed the same repair, after some resistance on their part. Now in Nov of 2023, I am having the same warning light and they will not repair the problem now with out substantial repair cost. I feel like there is some sort of a safety issue going on with this brake system and it needs to be looked into.
ABS brake system
ABS, Electronic control system malfunction. Constantly failing causing safety to driving.
Abs warning lights going crazy kicks cruise control off and traction control and 4x4 stop working Constantly dinging and flashing don’t know if brakes will work or not
ABS and HCU module system is defective. ABS and HCU systems randomly shutdown causing loss of ABS braking, traction control and cruise control. Ram dealership has already replaced these twice on my Ram 2500, service dates 12/19 and 6/22. Now it is required a third time with less than 49K miles. The ABS and HCU modules on 2017 Ram 2500 trucks are lemons.
This started in May 2023, warning lights "Service Electronic Braking System", "Service Anti-Lock Brakes". It is an intermittent issue, cannot duplicate. Appears at random, with Cruise control on,, if the issue message appears the cruise control disables. This can go on for several minutes, then all of a sudden stop. Could resume minutes later. Again Random. Don't rely on your anti-lock brakes, not reliable, or vote of confidence. As of today's writing 11/18/23, appears to becoming worse. I believe eventually I will note have a braking system whatsoever. Unfortunately I don't trust my dealer, or any dealer at this point for a consensus.
Abs pump failure intermittent loss of braking system and traction
Abs and traction Control keeps going off and on showing service brake system.
ABS and Traction control warning lights with audible warning repeatedly coming on and then going off. Have no way of knowing when this will happen. It appears to be a common problem with similar vehicles. With poor results from dealer repairs. I am concerned about the safety and reliability of brakes.
Service Electronic Braking and Service ABS intermittently flashing on and off. Especially during rain or humid climates.
Vehicle has less than 22000 miles. ABS controller replaced at 7000 miles then again at 14000 miles and is now needing to be replaced again.
ABS failure
A Hydraulic Control Unit malfunction resulting in multiple warning lamps flashing on and off intermittently - including the ABS, the EBS, the Traction Control, and the Cruise Control. This is apparently a known issue with this model year truck and is inclusive of a class action lawsuit, yet there has been no recall. This failure results in unpredictable breaking and/or the ability to break and operate, especially in slippery conditions. This replacement repair is estimated at $1,100-1,300 on top of incredible uneasiness to operate the vehicle.
I purchased my 2017 Ram 2500 truck new in October of 2017 from Champion Dodge in Gulfport, MS. Since then, I have been experiencing a reoccurring problem with the truck's ABS braking system. I have had the truck in the shop repairs on this ABS system five times since I have owned the truck. The first two repairs were covered under warranty, the next two visits I had to pay for, and the fifth visit, I was told they can't repair the truck and parts would not be available until maybe April of 2024. The trucks ABS braking system warning lights continuously flash and alarm making the truck almost unusable. I am also not sure if the truck is even safe to drive with this system malfunctioning. I feel this has to be a recall or something. I feel that Dodge/Ram should repair this truck at no cost to me. I will try to add all documentation to this submission. Any assistance you can proved me would be appreciated.
The anti-lock and traction control light and service light came on shortly after purchase, this happened while towing a 10,000lb camper in the N. GA mountains. this was a challenging situation with that much weight pushing the truck and the brakes weren't working properly. After getting a code reader, I found out the HCU has been listed as a service problem. You try to find the part and there is a hold on releasing the part because the manufacture is having problems with the updated part, and they don't even offer the original part because of the defect on the original part, (part # 68143491AA) The replacement part is (68143491AB). Thankfully I grew up driving vehicles without modern ABS , If my wife would have been driving, or an inexperienced driver, this could have ended in a very, very bad situation. Why isn't there a safety recall on this vehicle? Why should the consumer have to pay for a KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE. just look at the posts on the internet. Even worse, you can't get the part to fix, every dealer that has the part listed says the part will not be released until February, and not until April for the public. ( but the website says they are in stock) You call to verify that the part is on hand and they said not until spring.
The check electronic brake system light started coming on intermittently in October 2023. Dealer determined it was a faulty hydraulic control unit but it took three weeks to locate the part for a vehicle just over 24,000 MILES and based on other reports I consider myself lucky to have my truck repaired under four weeks. RAM was completely unapologetic and had me pay full price for the repair. I have no trust for the replaced part or RAM as a brand. Sold the truck, but I would not mind a refund for parts of questionable quality.
My abs module has a fault code on my dash with the light staying on. I went to my dealership to get the part replaced for my safety and after ordering one and paying for it in December 2023 they are now finding out their is none available and will not be available to order until June 2024 ,with no guarantee they will be available then What is one to do under these circumstances the is something the company needs to address NOW!!! Not whenever they feel like it. From what I’ve read online this seems to be a major problem that many people that own these vehicles are dealing with Hopefully you help me with this situation Thanks [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
