Getting code C0020-01 code being given randomly.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the ABS, traction control, TPMS, and Forward Collision Avoidance warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 117,000. The contact stated Fiat/Chrysler/Ram Trucks is going to replace the hydraulic ABS module free of charge.
The abs HCU has failed for the second time. This happened at 37,000 miles and has happened again at 61,000 miles. Factory mopar parts were installed after the first failure. Now parts are unavailable. I have no abs, traction control or cruise control.
ABS control module pump/Hydraulic control module. 49000 miles. ABS lights/Service Electronic braking. No parts available for repair. On indefinite back order from Mopar. This problem needs to be solved. Thanks
ABS lights illuminated, Electronic stability control. ABS module has been replaced but did not fix issues. 1050.00 spent so far. This is a hazardous safety condition when driving if brakes are applied harshly. There are hundreds of complaints about this issue on these model trucks. My truck has 52000 miles on it.
The ABS and traction control light are coming on and off and malfunctioning with a dinging bell alert. With a message that says service antilock brakes soon. On wet roads the steering seems off and brakes lock up. Very unsafe, The Ram dealer said the parts to fix are under engineering review and not available until February 2024. My truck is a 2017 Ram 2500 with19,850 miles. I bought the truck new
transmission stopped working at 51,000 miles on it. Truck goes into drive but will not move.
While traveling westbound on I-64 at highway speed (~65 MPH), I experienced a complete tire failure of the driver's side front fire. It was first experienced as severe front-end vibration that made control of the vehicle difficult; there were no warnings or other indications of imminent failure. Fortunately, I was able to get the vehicle to the roadway's shoulder without injury or accident. Upon exiting the vehicle, I noticed that the left front tire was flat, and a portion of the tire's tread was protruding above the surface of the tire. Because of vehicle's location/proximity to the interstate, both vehicle occupants were at risk of serious injury if a crash were to occur; the vehicle was also a hazard to passing traffic. Minimizing some risks, we were assisted on scene by the Virginia State Police as well as a VDOT Motorist Assist vehicle until the vehicle was able to be towed away. Tire information: COOPER Discoverer AT3 285/60/20 purchased on 10 July 2021 Mileage at time of installation 56,707, mileage at time of failure 78,622 total miles on tire: 21,915 Tire is available for inspection
The ABS hcu fails intermittently causing a loss of traction control, cruise control. this is the second time i will have to replace the this unit. i had to first replace it at the end of 2021 and it failed a second time in october 2023.
This is the 3rd time since i have got my truck that the abs pump module has gone out on it and the brake pedal feels Spongy and brake is junk and the dealership has replaced it the last 2 times and now its one month after the 2 year warranty for the part waiting to see if they will still cover it or not
Failed part is the turbo actuator. I was towing an approximately 6000lb trailer when the turbo actuator failed. I lost both boost to control power and loss of the exhaust brake. I was driving in an area of steep inclines and declines, loss of the exhaust brake is the safety issue. The actuator issue caused the check engine light to come on and codes were thrown regarding the failed actuator. There were no codes or any advanced warning of the failed actuator. The codes came up when the actuator failed, no exhaust braking while driving down the mountain. I have replaced the actuator and the vehicle is now running fine with adequate acceleration and the exhaust break also works.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS warning light and the traction control warning light intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic control unit had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the HCU had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that he was responsible for parts and labor. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.
Anti-lock break system malfunctioning. This module has already been replaced once in 2021 by a dealership. Now the module is malfunctioning again and needs to be replaced. This affects the trucks traction control system and cruise control. Meaning the vehicle will slide during winter/rainy weather. There are to warning lights that come on on the dash warning you that this system is malfunctioning.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the ABS warning light intermittently illuminated, and the message "Must Park Vehicle" was displayed. Additionally, during the failure the cruise control and trailer brake control features were inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the ABS module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact was informed that the part for the repair was on backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000.
I took my truck into Don Franklin Dodge Ram in Somerset, KY for service as I was receiving an audible alert and message on my dash to service my ABS braking system. I was informed that this is a known issue and may become a recall. The $600+ part was ordered, but on back order until around February, 2024. While towing my 30 foot camper a car pulled out in front of me and I had no trailer brakes. It was a terrifying situation. Having to wait until February puts me dead in the water for pulling any of my trailers safely.
ABS, electronic stability control and speed control not working. Code C0020-01 ABS Pump Motor Control.
Vehicle has about 60,000 miles. Has started intermittent service electronic brake and service abs warning. Noticed alot of information online that this is happening more than a normal rate of failure. I believe where this is being looked into...hoping for a speedy response. Thank You!
ABS/and Traction Control lights flash on and off intermittently. Cruise Control doesnt always work.
Abs and traction control light flashing randomly and disabling cruise control while on.
Abs pump and motor replaced twice once in 2019 and 2021 now faulty again in 2023 there needs to be a recall on these parts.
C0020-01 ABS Pump Motor Control General Electrical failure (brake, module). Intermittent loss of braking performance.
Abs light came on and also says service braking electrical system
RAM has 18,000+ REAL miles on odometer when ABS / TRACTION CONTROL warning lights came on. Which means no ABS nor Traction assist. Research tells me this is a VERY common problem on several years of RAM trucks. Parts (like ABS modul ) are nearly impossible to get and many replacements have failed thereafter. This is a serious issue affecting many RAM trucks. This is obviously a design / manufacturing issue with this ABS system. No ABS on vehicles made to safely carry loads is lethality looking for a place to happen. The vehicle has been looked at by multiple mechanics and any obvious issues were not observed. Wiring connections were in pristine condition. This vehicle has never been used off road nor in snow / icy conditions. This is absolutely a safety defect that does not even offer OEM replacement parts and when gotten, those gotten fail again!
ABS failure lamp on. I was told by the dealer that my truck is safe to drive, and the part was going to be 5 months out. Well, I'm only safe until I have to make an emergency braking decision. I've been told I'm not the only one with this problem. I think this should be a recall.
The ABS Hydraulic Control Unit has failed for the third time and the dealer says parts won't be available until middle of NEXT YEAR! This drastically affects braking performance and negates the safety feature increasing the likelihood of an injury or death from improper braking
ABS and Traction Control lights and bells and alarms going off saying need to Service Right Away. Called dealer and told not to drive truck till fixed. but the parts are and have been on back order for over a year because there are so many trucks with this issue and its going to cost me close to $2,000. to get this issue fixed. Its a faulty item not of my doing. Needs to be a recall on this issue. In the mean time I am with out a truck.
I continually get the ABS warning light lilting up on my dashboard screen along with a sway control light. The obvious risk is the failure of the braking system especially on hard braking situations or slippery roads. This risks injury and/or death to myself and any passengers as well as vehicles traveling in my vicinity. This is a well known problem with dealers as well as many owners. The same issue has been identified in newer versions of the same vehicle and been recalled. The issue has been identified as a malfunction with the hydraulic brake control unit and the anti-lock brake system module. This is a problem already known to the manufacturer and is also the subject of a class action lawsuit in California. This safety issue should certainly be resolved by the manufacturer by a recall in an expeditious manner.
Electronic braking system and ABS lights intermittently come on and off an throws a code c0020-01 which many dealers say should replace the HCU and ABS modules and research has shown that this if a short-term fix on a fault component. Please hold ram to task.
Traction control and ABS lights flicker on dash cluster. Possible ABS module failure. Parts on back order, I believe this is a safety hazard that needs to be corrected by a recall. This is a known issue that has yet to be resolved since 2017. That's unacceptable.
ABS/Traction control unit disabled (light on). diagnosed by dealer in October of 2023 as ABS pump and module as bad. No part available from dealer (dealer only part and ETA of 3/24). Advised to park truck until part came in 6 months. Called Dodge customer care on 5/2 to ask for update. was told no part available and no ETA in the future. I am driving an unsafe vehicle due to faulty brake system dealer can't/won't fix.
The service antilock brake system/ service electronic braking system lights began turning on and off intermittently around August of 2022. These would sometimes be prompted or exacerbated by wet driving conditions or bumps, but often just at random while driving. At the beginning of the issue, vehicle had roughly 48,000 miles. After paying for diagnosis, the failed part was deemed to be the ABS pump motor-general electrical failure, code C0020-0 as well as code C006C-9A for stability system component failure. Being RAM dealer-only parts and needing software flashes for installation, this repair costs between $1000 and $2000 USD. This failure leaves these HD trucks without ABS systems (functioning systems are required in many states for vehicle safety inspections). The cherry on top of this situation is the replacement parts are unavailable nation-wide as FCA "switches manufactures". This leaves the ABS inoperable and the trucks completely unsafe with absolutely NO alternative actions. No loaner vehicles offered, no recourse for failing safety inspections, nothing. Many folks use these as business or work trucks, depend on them, and have no choice but to keep driving with the issue as-is. This is a blatant hazard and needs to be corrected as soon as possible.
ABS and Traction Control lights keeping going off constantly and cruise control can't be used either when this occurs. States this has something to do with the ABS Brake control module. However, there are discontinued parts for this replacement. I travel alot with this vehicle and Tow heavy equipment. This issues NEEDS to be resolved ASAP!!
Abs and traction control lights keep coming on. And the cruise control will not work. Dealer can’t find any codes
Message reads: Service Antilock Brake System. Traction control and ABS light stay on along with chime. Traction control failure and failure of the antilock braking system.
The indicator lights for abs and traction control appeared, and the driver information panel stated a problem with the abs electronic control. I am uncertain if this will lead to a failure in the braking of my truck. This problem was repaired twice by a Ram dealer; the most recent being on October 4, 2022. I have learned this is an issue that was recalled on the 2019-2020 models, and there is a class action lawsuit in relation to the 2017-2018 models.
Intermittent ABS/ HCU problems with no solution from the manufacture
ABS breaking failure/warning on an intermittent but ongoing basis. Specifically, repeated failures of anti-lock brake modulator valve that causes ABS system to not function properly. Sometimes the ABS warning light flashes on and off, sometimes it stays on for weeks. RAM knows about the problem with part number 68143491AA. They replaced it for me once on 3/1/2022 at 50,650 miles but put in the exact same failing part. It started to fail again September 2, 2023. I had it diagnosed 11/21/2023 (as soon as I could get it in). It's the exact same issue. These vehicles are hazardous to drive. They have a replacement part now 68143491AB, but they refuse to pay for the repair leaving customers to to afford the expensive repair, drive the vehicles in an unsafe condition, or not use the vehicle at all.
I have a 2017 RAM 2500. The abs and traction control light are flashing on and off SEVERAL times each trip. It kicks my cruise off and sometimes stays on. The EVIC display showed Service Antilock Braking System and alternated to Service Electronic Brake System. It would constantly bing and display the ABS light and the Traction Control light. seems a recall should be mandatory for replacement of the 68437098AB Module Anti Lock Brake System and the 68143491AA Control Anti Lock Brake System or whatever is causing this issue. it is a safety issue.
ABS light and traction control light coming on , cruise control will not work. I took it to a Ram dealership and it they advised me that it needed a new HCU, then they advised me that the HCU cannot be ordered until after February 2024. I cannot get a inspection sticker in my state (Virginia) with the ABS brakes not working properly and I’m afraid the truck braking system and cruise control not working.
A sensor in the ABS braking system went out. We attempted to get it fixed in September but were told the part was unavailable until February due to the fact that Ram was having to reengineer the part. We personally know 5 people who have had to replace this sensor. The service manager at the dealership told us that it was a very common problem. We have been driving for months with no ABS. Shouldn’t this safety issue be a recall? If the sensor had to be reengineered, Ram obviously knows it’s a problem.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30-35 MPH, the transmission became stuck in second gear and the vehicle went into LIMP Mode. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate above 35 MPH. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact used a scanner and retrieved DTC codes for pressure and gear ratio faults. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a transmission specialist, and it was determined that the failure was due to the valve body and shift solenoid. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 105,369.
ABS system cuts on and off continuously.
Ive had issues where by ABS fails and the problem is a faulty hydraulic control unit and abs module. They are a very common issue with 2017 and 2018 model years on the forums I'm on and theyre backordered from so many people trying to fix the issue repeatedly.
ABS control module failed 3 times in under 39000 miles. First instance was repaired under warranty in 02/2019 with control unit replaced. Second instance was repaired out of warranty in 03/2020. Third instance of failure occurred in 08/2023. Symptom of failure is ABS/TC indicator light repeatedly flashing and warning sound in cabin. The repeated warning makes the vehicle undriveable for any length of time. It is unclear if the ABS is actually functioning as I would not drive in poor traction conditions with this warning. The ABS control module or related wiring in this truck is defective and the repairs implemented by Chrysler/Dodge/RAM do not resolve the problem. Replacing the ABS control unit is a temporary solution as the unit will fail with identical symptoms 1-3 years later.
Service Electronic Brake system and ABS unavailable lights constantly. Brakes locked up while towing a trailer. This apparently is a known problem that Ram refuses to recall. $1500 to $1800 to fix a known faulty part is unreasonable and is going to make people choose to continue to drive with the warning light on because it is too expensive to repair.
The service light for a electronic Brake System as well as the light for Electronic ABS system started blinking on and off numerous times. I called the dealer to make an appointment and had to wait 2 months to get it in for service. When I got it in for service they told me the issue. They said it will be covered under my extended warranty. However, the part is in Engineering hold and is not available for ordering untill February 22, 2024. I need my truck. Can't wait 5 months for it to be ordered and shipped. That is if they release for orders in the 21st. Now my truck is setting in the dealer back lot, unsafe to drive they have told me. This all started while driving. Fortunately I didn't have an accident or and incident before getting it to the dealership.
I have 2017 Dodge ram 2500.12/09/19 the anti lock brake system control and hcu module was replaced under warranty. Now august 2023 with 27,900 miles the same problem has occurred with the dealer recommending the ABS control module and HCU be replaced. the parts will not be avaiable until January 2024. If a Abs module failure is not serious what is. A check of the internet shows a tremendous amount of complaints of this issue. there is even a class action lawsuit in California. I have spoken with Ram Care and they dropped my case as soon as they found out the part was backordered until January. I have all the dealer documentaion if needed. Please look into this problem before crashes start occuring.
While driving the trucks ABS and wheel speed sensor warning lights will intermittently alarm. While alarming I do not have ABS or cruise control function.
Code C002001, ABS pump motor control general electrical failure. the ABS and traction control light is on. this issue is very common now . please help
Part Failure: ABS Module Part Failure: HCU Module Braking System Failure Safety concern This failure has been repaired 3 times ABS/Traction Light on/Warning chimes
