The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that parts were unavailable. The contact was fearful of driving the vehicle due to the unrepaired recall. The manufacturer was contacted. The contact had not experienced a failure.
My 2018 Ram 2500 was involved in a collision with another vehicle. The vehicle in front of me had to slam on their brakes for an object in the roadway. When I slammed on my brakes, the ABS and Traction Control lights lit up on the dash, my tires locked up, and I skid approx 100' and rear ended the vehicle in front of me. There was no shoulder to pull off to and oncoming vehicles in the other lane. There was no way out of the collision. If the ABS system had worked properly, my vehicle and the vehicle in front if me would not have collided. The faulty component is the Hydraulic Power Unit for the Antilock Braking System. The last time I brought the truck in for service at Southland Dodge in Houma, LA, USA, they offered to fix the recall. I gladly accepted. When I picked the vehicle up the system was still malfunctioning.

No incident has happened yet but I don’t want an incident to happen to get this fixed. The HCU and ABS are not working properly or at all I’m not too sure. The sensors on the truck don’t work. The 4x4 don’t work either. The cruise control doesn’t work either. I need my truck fixed asap.
I am still waiting on them to complete the recall for a safety issue related to the HBU. The recall number is 24V-896 and has been open for 18 months with no effort to replace the unit.

abs and traction control not working due to a recall with no parts available causing my truck to not stop correctly the dealership where i got the truck will not do anything about it and just keep telling me there are no parts available and thats there is nothing they can do about it
My vehicle is under an active recall C4B/NHTSA 24V-896. This recall was issued on Nov 27, 2024. According to the manufacturer there is no repair part available as of today Mar9, 2026. That is completely unacceptable. My ABS system has been compromised for 2 years now. I have been driving with an ABS system that has failed and poses a great risk. Since this recall was issued 15 months have gone by. I find it implausible that the manufacturer has not been able to engineer a remedy for this. They are leaving a huge risk on the road. They should not be allowed to let this much time elapse. If they can not come up with a repair then they should be replacing my vehicle. I would like to know what the NHTSA is doing about this situation.

Subject: Safety Defect / Recall Not Properly Completed – 2018 Ram 2500 Steering Drag Link Vehicle: 2018 Ram 2500 VIN: [XXX] Recall Campaign: 19V‑021 / V06 – Steering Drag Link Jam Nut Complaint Description: I am filing a safety complaint regarding a potential unresolved defect on my 2018 Ram 2500. This vehicle was included in Recall 19V‑021 / V06, issued to address a safety issue where the steering drag link jam nut may loosen, potentially resulting in loss of steering control. The dealership claimed that the recall was performed on my truck. However, upon inspection, I have observed the following: 1.The jam nut on the outboard drag link is completely smooth with no tack weld, and it spins freely by hand. 2.The drag link steering arm has snapped completely in half. This failure occurred while driving at low speed (~30–35 mph) and could have caused a serious accident or fatality. 3.The installed components appear to be the original, pre-recall parts, not the upgraded or properly repaired components required by the recall. Due to these observations, it is clear that the recall repair was either not performed or performed incorrectly. This poses an immediate and serious safety risk. I request that NHTSA investigate this matter to ensure that my vehicle and others like it receive proper recall repairs, and to hold the manufacturer accountable for reporting and completing recall repairs accurately. I have photographs of the failed component and the jam nut condition available upon request. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Transmission failure at 125,000 miles. Vehicle has been used minimally for towing. Mainly highway driving. Looking at a $10,000 repair bill.
See attached document for complaint. I am submitting this complaint regarding an unresolved safety recall on my vehicle and the continued lack of an available remedy. I own a 2018 Ram 2500 affected by Stellantis/FCA Safety Recall C7B (NHTSA 24E-100) involving the ABS hydraulic control unit (HCU). I received the recall notice on or around January 2025. I took my vehicle to Dodge of Tampa Bay and on 2/4/26 they tested the vehicle and confirmed the vehicle requires a ABS HCU replacement charging me 225.97 for the diagnosis. Since then, every time I contact my Ram dealer and Stellantis, I am told that “no remedy is currently available” and that there is no estimated date when parts will be available. My concern is that this is a safety-related defect affecting the braking system, yet the manufacturer has not provided a way to repair the vehicle within a reasonable time. I rely on this truck for daily transportation and the unresolved recall has impacted how and when I can use the vehicle. I am particularly concerned about the risk of reduced braking performance, loss of ABS, or increased stopping distance, especially when towing or driving in adverse conditions. To date, I have taken the following steps: Contacted my dealer on 04 Feb 2025, and was told each time that parts are unavailable and they cannot schedule the repair. Contacted Stellantis customer service multiple time (21, 24, 29 Jan 2025 and received the same answer: there is no remedy and no ETA for parts. I am asking NHTSA to review whether Stellantis is meeting its obligation to provide a free remedy within a reasonable time for this safety defect, and to ensure that owners like me are not left indefinitely with an unfixed brake-related safety issue.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH in a snowstorm on icy roads, the contact pressed the brake pedal and the vehicle slid off the road and side swiped into a telephone pole, where it crashed into a ditch and came to a stop. The police were called to the scene, and the vehicle was towed out of a ditch and driven home. No injuries were reported. A police report was filed. The contact indicated that prior to the crash, the ABS and Traction Control warning lights were constantly illuminated due to a failure related to the NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000(SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC ). The manufacturer and local dealer were not contacted regarding the crash. The contact and manufacturer were notified regarding the recall. The contact indicated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was 92,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500 equipped with Michelin Tires, Tire Line: LTX MS2, Tire Size: 245/75/R17, DOT Number: [XXX]. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the low-pressure tire warning light illuminated, indicating that the passenger’s side rear tire pressure was low. The contact pulled over and inflated the rear passenger’s side tire, but the warning light illuminated again days later. The vehicle was then taken for an oil change at dealer, and a slow leak was found on the side of the tire. The tire was not replaced by the dealer. The vehicle was taken to where the tires were purchased, and it was diagnosed that there was a slow leak through the sidewall of the passenger’s side rear tire, and the tire could not be repaired. The tire was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was advised to return to the store for the tire to be evaluated. The failure mileage was approximately 57,414. The brake system malfunctioned. After applying the brakes, instead of slowly stopping, the truck began to slide. The truck has a factory recall that RAM doesn't have a fix for. Our truck has a light that says our ABS needs servicing. This has been on for several months. We took it to the dealer but they said they can't fix it because RAM doesn't have a fix for it. This is truly unacceptable. Next time it could cause an accident. The traction control light also comes on and goes off.
I am submitting this complaint about Safety Recall C4B / NHTSA 24V‑896 for my 2018 Ram 2500 (VIN: [XXX] ). I am active‑duty military living in Virginia; the truck is registered in Tennessee. FCA’s recall notice says the brake hydraulic control unit (HCU) may fail, causing intermittent then permanent loss of ABS, ESC, and traction control, and that this “may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.” My truck shows as affected, but I have been unable to get the recall repair. The notice also states that the remedy is “not currently available” and that FCA will contact me when it is. As of February 2026, more than a year after the recall was initiated, I am still being told that parts are unavailable and there is no firm ETA for when the repair can be performed. In the meantime, I continue to drive with a known safety defect FCA has already acknowledged. My truck’s ABS and ESC lights cycle on and off while driving, consistent with the defect description. This creates real concern about whether ABS/ESC will function during emergency braking or low‑traction conditions, especially given that I use the truck for commuting and towing. I am also aware that FCA is reimbursing owners who have already paid out of pocket to replace failed HCUs, which suggests that replacing the HCU is the recognized fix, even as owners like me are told there is “no remedy available” under the recall. This appears to leave many vehicles on the road with a known safety defect and no timely, practical way to obtain the promised free repair. I respectfully request that NHTSA review FCA’s handling of Recall 24V‑896, evaluate whether FCA is providing a remedy within a reasonable time, and consider any enforcement or additional oversight needed to ensure parts are supplied and repairs completed promptly for all affected vehicles. Traction control and ABS are not functioning. This vehicle is not safe to drive.
Manufacturer is claiming to have "No Remedy" for this recall (C4B). However, they were able to replace the defective part, charged me for the repair and offered a reimbursement. However, they are not offering to reimburse the full cost of the repair. It has come to my knowledge that Ram does have a remedy, as they have reengineered the HCU part affected by this recall and issued a new part number for the updated parts. Original part was 68143491AA and has since been updated to 68143491AB after this recall was issued. It appears that Ram is lying to consumers about having "No Remedy" when they do in fact have one. I am assuming they do not want fix these vehicles unless the original part fails as a cost savings on this recall. The issue is they are refusing to cover the entire cost of the recall repair when the vehicle did need to be fixed. I was charged $1185.56 for this repair in February of 2026 and Ram is only offering $1141.85 as the reimbursement amount. This recall should have been covered at zero charge and without requiring me to pay upfront for the repair, as it is evident by updated part numbers that Ram does in fact have a remedy.

See attached document for complaint. I received this notice will over a year ago. My local dealer, Diehl's keeps saying no parts available. I use this truck on my farm and haul cattle with it. The ABS service light comes on constantly and beeps too. Could you please tell me when parts are available? And, why is it taking so long? Thank you so much for any information you could give me as to when repairs could be made?
I have been in need of a repair for the C4B recall for well over a year. My truck is unsafe to drive. No ABS, no traction control, no cruise control. I also cannot use 4wd with this issue. My truck has been undriveable for this time frame.
This has been a recall for almost 2 yrs now and the dealer is saying no parts available. There are 1000s of RAM trucks driving around waiting for parts. A simple google search shows there are parts available on line. What is taking so long. This should have been resolved a year ago.

The transmission is slipping and making clunking noises and I'm worried it fails while driving it could be a safety issue. I noticed other people online mention the same problem. This should be a manufacture recall to get repaired not a consumer.
Was towing with my 2018 Ram 2500 ... truck ABS failed to engage under emergency stopping narrowly missing stopped car in front of me... truck took substantially longer to stop and brakes locked up... There is an outstanding recall on this but RAM says parts are not available... there appear to be in excess of 317,000 large heavy duty Ram trucks on the road, probably most towing heavy loads, with failing ABS and Hydraulic Control Units (HCU). At what point will Ram be made to actually fix the problem and make parts available to their service dealers versus just ignoring the issue??? Now the truck has permanent ABS light on but no parts from Ram to fix???

See attached document for complaint. I have a low mileage RAM 2500 Tradesman Pickup. Many months have elapsed since the original recall notice and I didn’t drive the truck for a time period. It now seems that the repair is taking an unreasonable amount of time. Your attention to this issue will be appreciated.
Recently, I experienced a dangerous incident that I believe is directly related to this unresolved recall. While driving my vehicle and towing my RV, I attempted to stop at a red light and experienced what can only be described as brake failure. The vehicle did not respond as expected when braking, and I was pushed through the intersection because I had little to no braking capability. This situation nearly resulted in a serious collision. Fortunately, I was able to avoid a collision. I was first notified of this recall nearly two years ago. Since that time, I have attempted approximately eight to nine times to contact my dealership to obtain the necessary repair or an appropriate remedy. Despite these repeated attempts, the recall has not been resolved.

The contact had not experienced a failure related to the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 84,000.
I am forced to drive a vehicle through the winter with a known safety defect - an ABS system that does not work properly. I was told by Ram corporate they were trying to source parts - it has been several months and still no resolution. I was told I could rent a car at my expense to drive in the winter, or try and find the parts to repair and do it at my cost. They are obviously trying to avoid paying for the repair, and putting me and my family at risk.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact located the recall for NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service brakes, Hydraulic). While driving at 55 MPH, another vehicle passed him on double yellow lines, and the anti-lock brakes locked up, and the vehicle slid and crashed into a 2008 Chevrolet. There were no reported injuries, fire, or airbag deployment. A police report was filed. The ABS light and traction control warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was emailed, but there was no response. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.
I have had this issue for over 2 years now and the recall is almost a year old. I went to the RAM dealership in Elizabeth City, NC and they have told me that they would get back to me for over two years. I call MOPAR and they still have no fix for the issue nor do they have a timeframe of when to expect. When asked, if they are going to cover the cost of the accident that occurs when the brakes actually fail, they suggest if I am not comfortable driving the vehicle, they might offer a rental vehicle. I go through that process and since they don't have an estimated timeframe, they won't allow me to get a rental. Just need to problem fixed and they have had plenty of time to correct this issue.
