Abs service abs lights come on with traction lights keep flashing and ringing.
It's clear that my abs module is bad but it consists of three components. Mopar online doesn't have any components available to fix the problem. And the Dealer is selling the components separately and telling you which one they will sell you first and also at a higher price than what's available to you online
This is 3rd time I have had ABS failed. Truck only has 66,000 miles on it and this has happened for 3rd time. Has been twice repaired by Ram dealer in Denham Springs Louisiana. Evidently parts are defective. I am original owner. First time happened at 24,700 miles. Second time at 48,200 miles. Third time at 66,000 miles. Evidently bad parts.
At Roughly 38000 miles the ABS and Traction control light began going on and off intermittently. Took to local dealer and the replaced the ABS HCU and Module to the tune of $1000. Now 2 years later and 54000 miles and it has failed again doing the same thing. This is a well-known issue for the 2017 & 2018 RAM 2500 pickups like mine. This is a serious safety issue which needs to be addressed and fixed by RAM.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle and driving at an undisclosed speed while hauling a trailer, the traction control and ABS warning lights illuminated with the messages "ABS Electronic Brake Failure" and "Electronic Brake Failure" displayed, and the ABS audible chime. Additionally, the brake pedal went to the floorboard while depressed, and the brakes made an abnormal sound. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who retrieved DTC: C2200-49 (Anti-lock Brake (ABS) Module) and C0020-01 (ABS pump motor control). The dealer and a second dealer, Granger Motors (1708 Sycamore St, Granger, IA 50109), were made aware of the failure but confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.
The hcu control unit keeps going out, fixing to be replacing 5 one on this truck. Lost all cruise control, and 4 wheel drive functions.
I purchased this truck new in 2018. I soon started having problems with very hard shifting and slamming into gear. It has been to the shop and diagnosed and continues to do it. They cant seem to fix it. My ABS lights and alarm are sounding non stop. This happened within 5 miles of my warranty being up. I did diagnostics and they wont cover it and want to charge me 1500 plus i have to wait 8 months for the part. This is an ABS issue and a safety issue! I also get the DEF failure notice telling me its going into limp mode. This has happened multiple times. I still only have 36k miles on it. I was told this ABS issue was now covered and the factory is doing extended warranties based on these problems. But the dealership says they know noting about it and that i have to bring it back in AGAIN to diagnose which i have to pay for AGAIN. I hate this truck and i have had nothing but problems and no one will help.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS warning light illuminated and flashed on and off. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the message "Service ABS" flashed on and off. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the ABS module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact stated that the ABS module was previously replaced due to a similar failure. The failure mileage was 107,400.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated while driving while 50 MPH, the contact heard an audible chime coming from the center console. The contact stated that the messages, “Electronic Braking System” and “Service ABS” were displayed. The contact stated that the ABS and Traction Control warning lights were also illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving normally however, the warning lights illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
I am getting a warning saying to service the anti lock brakes and the traction control. I have had this same issue before and paid the dealership to fix it. Also when the warning appears the cruise control shuts off. I am concerned about the loss of control of the vehicle.
My truck throws a abs traction control failure code. This happened in 2022 and was fixed by the dealer because my truck was still under warranty. The hydraulic control module was replaced and the abs control module was replaced. I have just received the same error lights on my truck again on 09/27/24. My abs and traction control are disabled. This has to be a faulty design or bad part. My truck is now out of warranty. There is no way this issue should have happened twice on a truck this new unless MOPAR is making or using bad parts
When driving the ABS and Traction Control caution lights illuminate. I went to the dealership and they said it was a bad ABS pump and was a little over $1200 to replace. The truck only has 24k miles on it.
ABS light and traction control keeps coming on. Dealer says there is no recall. If you look through the Internet, you’ll find thousands of complaints of this issue. I find this to be a major safety problem, I haul a heavy trailer with this truck and if my ABS and traction control fails, this is very dangerous.
ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS APPEARED ON DASH PUTTING SYSTEM INTO DEFAULT MODE , APPEARS TO HAPPEN ON AND OFF AT WILL,
Receiving the "Anti-lock brake system Warning" comes on frequently. Once cleared, the sensor or module either fails again, or provides the erroneous warning. Happens frequently, at least once every 1-15 miles, whether vehicle is moving or not. Dealer mechanic says this is a known problem with 2018-22 Ram trucks. New replacement modules are not available, and those who have had them replaced reported reoccurring problem within a year.
In reading all the forum ABS and traction control fault. Comes on and off depending on speed and hit any bumps in the road. Looks like there is open recalls but none for 2018 RAM 2500 Diesel. This is a safety issue and could cause a massive accident. Cruise control will not work when sensors are on.
Two years worth of "ABS" and "service electronic brake system" warning lights and bells going off. About 3 months ago they finally got a re-engineered ABS brake module installed and the light went away for about 2 months. Now they are back intermittently. Took it in to the dealership and they now say the HCU unit needs to be replaced as well. From reading RAM forums this is a known/on going problem with 2018 RAM 2500.
Intermittent ABS/Traction control light despite new ABS module and service at dealer. During heavy braking the Traction control does not function properly, causing unsafe driving conditions for myself and other motor vehicles on the road. Chrysler/Mopar have failed to address the issue.
Abs module/motor failure. Second time at 60000 miles also failed under warranty and replaced at that time.
Truck is experiencing a what started as a intermittent and not constant failure of the ABS and Traction control with flashing lights and constant chimes. Making the vehicle dangerous to drive.
ABS lights come on in dash and cruise control shuts off. Diagnostic found ABS HCU and ECU faults.
For almost two years the ABS has been intermittently non functioning. Verified by an independent then David Taylor Dodge in Belleville Illinois in February 2025. There is apparently still no fix for it. This is unacceptable especially considering that it is a heavy duty diesel truck purchased solely for pulling very heavy trailers. Not being able to safely stop is dangerous and dealer says there is nothing they can do.
Nothing has happened so far, however it has come to my attention that the grid heater bolt will eventually deteriorate until dropping into the intake and then into the number six cylinder. This could be a serious safety issue for me when pulling our 2970 RL Imagine Travel Trailer that could possibly weigh upwards toward 10,000 pounds fully loaded. We have traveled and likely will again Interstate 75/85 through Atlanta, parts of which has as many as six lanes. In addition to a potentially serious safety issue there would be a considerable repair cost with likely having to spend up to $20,000.00 for a new engine destroyed by a defective bolt in an extremely terrible location, and my truck has only between 50,000 and 60,000 miles on it with this engine being known as a million mile engine.
Service electronic braking system continues to flash along with Service Antilock brake system--This is a failure of the HCU (hydrolic control unit) that should be a RECALL. Thousands of people are having the same issue.
At approx 24K miles my RAM 2500 had an intermittent anti lock brake/ stability control malfunction and displayed a "Service Brake System" message randomly while driving. The issue was "fixed" under warranty. Currently my RAM has 54K miles on it and the issue has reappeared. I know their is a safety recall that exist for 2019 and newer trucks but believe the problem may exist on trucks built prior as well. Either way, an intermittent anti lock brake/ stability control malfunction seems to exist on the 2018 models, and based on info posted on RAM forums, it is a common malfunction.
Continually getting ABS warning and "Service electronic brake system soon" warning. Electronic Stability Control suddenly shuts off without warning to include cruise control if engaged. ABS and ESC lights remain on most of the time with constant chiming. This is a widely known problem. Recall just came out for later model years but not these.
Internal fault in hydraulic control unit. They are replacing this when the part comes in. Have no antilock brakes or cruise control. If that doesn't fix it, then they will replace the module.
ABS failure which also turn traction control off. My safety and the public in general is at risk if my brakes lock up on a slippery road, especially if towing. The problem was confirmed by my mechanic, parts are impossible to get. Tons and tons of complaints online and in forums.
the ABS light and electronic braking intermittent flashing light Code C0020 ABS disabled when light is on New ABS motor required part number 68143491AB
1. ABS SYTEM FAULTS, NO KNOWN TRIGGERING, CONTINUOUS FLASHING, RESETTING, AND GOING OFF AGAIN. DROPS THE TRUCK OUT OF CRUISE CONTROL. 2. I WOULD SAY YES, MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS ARE PUT AT RISK WHEN THIS HAPPENS, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE TRUCK DROPS OUT OF CRUISE CONTROL AT RANDOM UPON ONSET OF THE ISSUE. 3. ONSET 17SEP24, CONTINUIED 18SEP24, TWO DAYS IN A ROW NOW. TROUBLESHOOTING CALL HAS BEEN MADE TO DEALER THIS AM FOR FOLLOW ON DIAGNOSTICS. CURSIARY RESEARCH DONE THIS AM SHOWS MULTIPLE REPORTS OF FAULTY ABS SYSTEM PARTS AND MODULAR ISSUES BEING REPORTED, CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS, NHTSA REPORTS ETC. 4. NO 5. YES, ABS SYSTEM FAILURE WARNINGS, ABS FAULT LIGHT WITH SYSTEM CHIMES
Vehicle will display Service Electronic braking system randomly throughout driving the vehicle. The cruise control is not available when the code shows up. Also, the ABS and Traction Control lights pop up. The problem will shortly go away when I press the brakes all the way.
ABS light comes on, antil lock brakes no longer work and Cruise inoperable. The ABS/HCU module has gone bad again, the dealer has replaced it 2x already. This is the third time it has happened and vehicle has 25989 miles. Dealer states this is a KNOWN issue and parts to repair are unavailable,.
ABS needs service. Was quoted 2k from Dodge for repairs. As well as electric brake system not working Chrysler told me it is safe to tow my 10000 lbs rv with the errors and no ABS.
Vehicle has a control module failure causing the ABS, Traction Control, Cruise Control and other braking systems to intermittently turn off and on. The vehicle has been brought in for this issue and we have been told they are unable to get parts to replace the module at this time. This has been an ongoing issue for multiple years, with the failure occurring at a higher percentage of time the vehicle is driven now.
ABS service light was intermittently coming on and off for a period of time and now is constantly on. This results in constant beeping and also prevents the cruise control from working.
The ABS HCU has failed again this is the third time. The brakes feel spongy and the cruise control and 4wd does not work. The cause is unknown faulty design of parts. I don’t remember the mileage of the first or second failure.
Abs mod and pump wet bad around 30,000 miles. I replace both and now 2 years later and 52,000 both parts are bad again. Looks to me there is a problem they haven't fix and keep selling parts that they know is going to fail. This is not a cheap fix and something needs to be done about it
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the ABS warning light was illuminated, and the cruise control became inoperable. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle made an abnormal dinging sound while driving with the message to “Service the Vehicle Immediately” displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the failure was related to the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
My ABS light and ESC light come on intermittently and at time repeatedly on and off. Also a warning comes on stating either "Servcie ABS" or "Service Electronic Braking System". There are no codes when scanned.
ABS and TRACTION CONTROL warning lights appear and disappear. Timing of warning lights have no discernable pattern. Vehicle has had no collisions and only 120,000 miles. Vehicle will be going in for inspection at garage.
As I am driving, (2018 ram 2500 6.7l with 45000 miles) the “service electronic brake system” and “service automatic brake system” will flash on and off intermittently. I took it to the dealership and they stated possibly the HCU. But since the codes flash intermittently and at completely random times they couldn’t say fer sure. But it does have to do with HCU system. I did a quick google search and discovered this is a recurring issue with the 2017-2018 Ram models.
At 41,000 miles “check abs and electronic brake system” warning started coming on causing system failure to vehicle. Vehicle was taken to dealer with it requiring replacement of Hydraulic Control Unit and ABS control unit. Now at 71,000 miles same problem is occurring with cruise control deactivating, traction control failure, and ABS failure without warning. Apparently this is a known issue by RAM that continues to cause system failures across the vehicles sold between 2017 and 2019. To date I’ve not had an accident due to this issue but it is definitely a safety issue that RAM should be forced to issue a recall to correct! Please respond with updates. Thank you…
“Service AntiLock Brake System” and “Service Electronic Braking System” lights flash intermittently while driving. ABS, Traction Control., and Engine lights up on dash. Code is C0020. It has done this several times while driving. Vehicle has just over 34,000 miles on odometer. Its a common issue apparently known by Stellantis and they had changed supplier and part number.
Starting about a month ago, I started receiving a warning about servicing my electric brake system. Was very intermittent. Spoke to the dealership and they said if it wasn’t happening right then, they couldn’t read the codes. If the light went out, I could wait to bring it. Went on a trip, and it started happening more frequently, but still intermittently. I tow a 7-ton fifth wheel, which made me feel very unsafe. Sometimes happens moments apart, and sometimes hours apart, and it always knocks out the cruise control. Looking online, I found that this is a very common occurrence, and that I should report it. I did not have an accident, and tried to do my best to drive safely so I could get home.
Driving down the road and the radio randomly changes stations or turns on heated seat or heated steering wheel. It just depends what screen the radio is on.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the ABS and Service Electronic Stability warning lights illuminated. The contact had previously taken the vehicle to the dealer for the same warning lights being illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer for the first failure. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the ABS module had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact had not taken the vehicle back to the dealer for the most recent failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V653000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electronic Stability Control (ESC); however, neither the year nor the model was included in the recall. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 54,590.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the ABS and traction control warning lights illuminated. Additionally, a message advising to service the vehicle was displayed. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that it was a known failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000. The VIN was not available.
Two issues with my truck. #1. The ABS HCU was replaced under warranty once. I am now at 75k miles and it is doing the same thing again. Difference is I'm having to pay for it. #2. The Clock Springs has been replaced once already and now needs it again. I paid the first time and am now having to pay again!!! Absolutely not acceptable!!!
Second time my antilock brakes module has gone bad with 56000 miles not covered under warranty. Cost me $1700 to fix a little over two years ago. It went out again today and they said they wouldn't cover it. I have been reading about this and it's a major problem with many Ram trucks. I feel it should be taken care of on a recall and not having to pay every time it goes out. Ram knows this is a big problem and not doing anything but taking my money. Thank you
