Abs light comes on and off all the time. Randomly and hitting a bump. Hitting bumps causes an intermittent chime and notification alerting me that the Antilock Breaking System and Electronic Breaking System need service. It doesnt seem to matter what speed you are going. Upon research online looks to be a common problem that RAM has. There is an issue with pump motor electrical brushes making contact which causes this issue.
The ABS warning light and alarm come on while driving. Loss of ABS and cruise control, near rear end collision by following vehicles on the freeway while using cruise control. Ram knows they have a problem with 2017 and 2018 2500 pickups. Why no recall? Safety problem!
Service ABS and electronic braking system warnings are on. Cruise control and traction control are disabled.
ABS/HCU problem. Code C0020-01
The issue with the Electronic Braking System and ABS has worsened. The two warning lamps are almost constantly on, or rapidly come on and go off rapidly. If I'm towing a trailer, all braking is lost momentarily - brake pedal to the floor - including the trailer brakes. The trailer brakes do not return until an ignition cycle, if the warning lamps stay off, that is. The dealer says no parts are available, but won't even take it in for troubleshooting or attempted repair. This truck scares me. This has been an issue for about two years and 20,000 miles.
The abs/traction control lights are coming back on again. The abs control module and the hydraulic control unit were replaced when the truck had 34,000 miles. Now it has close to 60,000 and it has started doing the same thing again. Talked to the dealer and they said it would be close to $2000 to do the repair this time since it isn't under warranty. I have seen many of this same problem in a lot of the ram or cummins forums and feel this is a known issue and should be recalled. You lose the abs and traction control when these are out but it is intermittent. Fortunately, I haven't had an accident from this so far but could very well see how it could cause an accident. When my traction control was out the truck fish tailed on a wet road.
When driving and hit a bump the abs/ traction control lights come on and off. Does this consistently with bumps. Problem is not a wheel hub or sensor, when scanned it comes back as a C0020-01 code abs pump motor control general electrical failure. Safe to assume that the brushes within pump motor are sticking and failing to slide properly.
I received the recall notice V06, for the Drag Link, I purchase 4 new tires and took the truck in to have the repairs done, the dealership informed me that I also needed upper and lower ball joints both sides and front end alignment, I had them preform all that they said it needed. I took the truck back because I noticed excessive tire were and they told me that the Drag link needs replaced, the alignment redone and that I would have to pay for it
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that several years ago, the ABS and ESC warning lights illuminated. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, when the dealer was contacted, the contact was informed that the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The manufacturer was contacted and informed that the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact called the dealer and the manufacturer for approximately one year and was informed that parts were still not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000.
Hitting bumps causes an intermittent chime and notification alerting me that the Antilock Breaking System and Electronic Breaking System need service. Both the ABS and traction control lights are illuminated. I contacted my local dealer and they indicated that this isn't an immediate safety concern and is due to an electrical issue for which they haven't solved. They quoted me $1,600 for the replacement of the Anti-Lock Brake System Module and Hydraulic Control Unit. After some online research, it seems that this is a common issue with many resulting in total brake failures. A potential brake system failure should be a recall for obvious reasons.
SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM AND ABS LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY COMES ON DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD OR WHEN STOPPING. HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE PAST 3 WEEKS NOW.
The ABS and traction control light flash and sound repeatedly. As well as loss of trailer brake control. This is the second time the vehicle has done this. The first time I fixed it as Fam said it wasn’t covered by the warranty. I replaced the ABS module and HCU on my own dime. This is a major safety concern and should be treated as such.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the ABS and traction control warning lights intermittently illuminated. As a result of the warning light being illuminated, the cruise control failed to operate as needed. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. Several dealers were made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue but offered no assistance. The failure was approximately 90,000.
I have had the ABS/HCU replaced a year or two ago and now I’ve got the same issue again today 8/30/2024. Code C0020. I have to wait to get it to the dealership after the long weekend and holiday on Monday so they can check it out. Lights flashing in the dash and cruise control is not working when this happens.
ABS light and traction control light randomly come on while driving and sometimes apply the brakes without warning. Scanned for codes and was given a codes for an abs module failure. This seems to be a very common failure on these vehicles and should be addressed with a recall as it is very unsafe. I have almost been rear ended several times.
Abs traction control light
The Hydraulic Control Unit Chrysler part number 68143491AA failed and been replaced previously on my vehicle. This causes the Anti-lock braking system and Traction control system to no longer function limiting function under wet or slippery conditions. This puts the driver and others at risk. The problem has been reproduced by my local dealer and the vehicle will be dropped off for evaluation again this week. The manufacturer has not evaluated the product. Abs and traction control lamps are intermittent when the issue occurs.
Driving in traffic a vehicle in front made a sudden emergency manuver. I braked to avoid, the ABS warning light flashed and beeped "service abs system". The failed abs system nearly caused an accident. Took to the dealer, and they replaced the failed abs module under warranty at 20k miles on truck. Now, with 34k miles it failed again. Parts are reported to be on national backorder. Friends with this model truck are experiencing similar failures. Fact that these trucks are often work trucks, towing etc make these failures very serious. I urge you folks to push Ram to recall these defective parts before someone is killed.
The anti-lock brake control unit failed while under warranty and was repaired and it has failed again with only 53737 mi. When the ABS light comes on the traction control light comes on and the cruise control quits working. Seems very unsafe. Don't know if I can afford to fix it and no parts are available.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 35 MPH, the diagnostic trouble codes P24B0, P24B5, and P25C9 were displayed on the instrument cluster. The contact stated that he was able to continue driving. The contact stated that the diagnostic trouble codes were related to the smog and emissions system of the diesel engine. The contact stated that he occasionally towed an RV and was concerned about the towing load on the engine. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the Particulate Matter Sensor needed to be replaced; however, the part was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the ABS and traction control warning lights were illuminated, and the cruise control mode was inoperable. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 30 MPH and coming to stop, the vehicle slid. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
ABS control module/pump very common problem with this year truck that Fiat/Stellantis needs to address.
Anti-lock Braking System module failure due to poor/defective manufacturing and/or parts. This is a known issue with 2018 RAM 2500/3500 trucks. Safety is at risk due to failure of the ABS module which affects stopping performance. The RAM delear has diagnosed the issue as intermittent. The warning lights go on/off constantly while driving causing a distraction as well. This part should be recalled.
ABS module failure, only 63000 km had to pay $1038.19 to have it replaced at Parksville Dodge Jeep and 194.14 to read the code that we already had done at another auto shop. I have a case number [XXX]. I have sent many screen shots of other owners having problems, websites, recalls , 22v140000, 24v4150000. The ABS sensor came on our extended warranty ended in November 2023, we took it to a mechanic shop and the code C0020-01 came up (no parts only Chrysler can replace hmm that’s a problem why?)we then phoned Chrysler in Parksville and took it in and they showed same code and said needed to order part only one was in Red Deer Alberta. This is obviously an issue with this truck as there is a class action suit alleging FCA breached its warranty by using ABS and HCU modules of subpar quality known to be unfit for ordinary purpose and not disclosing this issue to customers at the time of purchase. These modules are prone to premature failure due to defective materials used in their manufacture. The lawsuit states FCA knew about the defect thru extensive pre-sale testing and numerous NHTSA complaints, there is a Technical Service Bulletin regarding the faulty ABS and HCU, despite issuing the TSB, FCA failed to issue a recall. The hearing is scheduled for December 17, 2024. We would like all costs associated with the replacement of this module paid for by Chrysler Canada. I want a recall issued for my vehicle and a cheque to reimburse me as this is clearly an issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My ABS and HCU modules are both bad. Leaving me vulnerable to locking my brakes on wet roads. My traction control will not work because of this as well. This is unsafe.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the message "Service ABS lock and ABS System" was displayed. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer on several occasions; however, the diagnosis and repairs were not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.
SERVICE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHTS.THE ABS UNIT WAS REPLACED 6-7-2022 AT FELDMAN DODGE WHEN THE LIGHTS CAME ON AT 15525 MILES.NOW THE LIGHTS ARE COMING ON AGAIN AT 30000 MILES THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN RAM PROBLEM.PLEASE ADVISE [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Truck chimes and says service ABS brake system and service electronic brake system. Traction control and ABS light pop on and off intermittently while driving.
ABS and TCS modules failing cruise control and abs unavailable when lights appear on dash. Vehicle not inspected by authorities or dealer at the moment will take to service center shortly.
ABS Pump Motor Control: General Electrical Failure code-C0020-01
Driving on cruise control the Anti-Lock brake light came on causing the cruise control to turn off at highway speeds. The anti-lock brake system, cruise control and traction control all quit working. Warning light went out and then all started working again. Very intermittent problem at first then started getting more frequent. After research I found it is a known problem on 2017 and 2018 ram pickups. The parts to fix it are revisions from the original and known bad but no service bulletins or recalls. There has been a recall for 2019 and later but Ram is not addressing the earlier problems.
While driving pulling a trailer the service antilock brake system light started to flash on and off sporadically the entire time i was driving. It does it now every time i start the truck. Doing research it's a know problem. The truck has 43k miles. While the light is on the braking is not what it should be for a truck that can haul the loads it's supposed to. Definitely a safety hazard.
Traction control light and ABS light come on and go off intermittently will cancel my cruise control.A warning ding accompanies this.It does this frequently while driving.Electronic braking warning comes on the dash.
The service electronic brake light and traction control light keeps illuminating periodically while driving. The code was read and ELECTRICAL FAILURE C0020-01-ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL was received. This is the second time this occurred and the first one was replaced under warranty.
the ABS light will come on while I am driving along with traction control turning off with a ding. While the warning comes on, the cruise control will turn off. It will turn on and off several time during a drive and will ding when it comes on. Very distracting and annoying and distracting. the dealer will charge me to look at it to find a reason. Truck has 37,000
ABS LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT FAILING AND NEEDING TO BE REPLACED
For the last 3 years the ABS and traction control warning lights come on and off intermittently. This occures every time the truck is driven. I have replaced the ABS control module and the Hydraulic pump unit with new OEM parts and this issue keeps coming back. Driving and towing heavy loads this truck is extremely dangerous (without a functioning ABS system). A recall is urgently needed!!!
Warning lights and loss of ABS braking, and traction control. The computer has been replaced before and the same issue has happened again. I noticed a recall for the same issue and same model year, but was told my vehicle is not covered by this recall. The warning comes and goes very frequently and I am never sure if the ABS will work. This vehicle is used to tow trailers and the lack of ABS brakes is a safety problem.
17427 miles 68143491aa control anti-lock brake system replaced 68347098ab module anti-lock brake system replaced code found c0021-01 replacement of the hcu and module. 12/30/2019 At 80,460 mi same code and information appeared again. 12/23/2022 No ABS brakes /no speed control continues currently 111,400 miles an indicator lights stay on.
Driving the vehicle the alarm dinged and the panel displayed service ABS system, service electronic breaking system. Would go off and on flashing intermittently
ABS pump motor control and anti-lock brake hydraulic unit is out again. first time replaced at dealer on 12/27/2019 second time8/10/2022 and now ABS light flashing again for about 3 weeks now with code c0020-01. This should be a recall it is very dangerous to be hauling heavy equipment with this reoccurring problem approximately every 20,000 miles or so.
Intermittent failure of ABS system. Causing cruise control to suddenly shut off at highway speeds as well as having a non-functioning ABS system.
On 8/10/2024 at 3.10 PM while traveling 68 mph on an interstate, the vehicle started displaying Service Electronic Brake System and Antilock Brake Failure warnings. This also shut off the cruise control system, causing a sudden and unexpected loss of forward momentum. The warnings would reset and then come on randomly while travelling.
C0020 error code. Required replacement of ABS system's HCU (hydraulic control unit). Vehicle's ABS and electronic braking systems warning systems would flash. Loss of cruise control when the warning light came on. Vehicle lacked ABS made especially dangerous in wet road conditions while towing.
My abs/traction control and electric braking system warning light has recently cone one for the third time. The first time it was repaired around 3,200 miles, the second time was around 32,000 miles and now around 72,000 miles. The light flases randomly and when it does i can't use my cruise control. My vehicle can be inspected any time.
ABS module failure
Constant on and off of abs and traction control due to abs module and hydraulic control unit failure. It’s a known issue by fca.
The contact owned a 2018 RAM 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to slow while turning a corner the vehicle experienced reduced braking performance, after which the brakes seized causing the vehicle to skid. As a result, the contact lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway coming to a complete stop after colliding with a tree. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The air bags did deploy. A police report was not filed and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed to a towed yard and deemed a total loss by the contacts insurance provider. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 63,000.
The ABS module and HCU are failing on these trucks. They’re causing the brakes to lock up, and the traction control system to automatically turn off, disables cruise control, and there are thousands of reports of this all over the internet.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving approximately 60 MPH with the cruise control feature activated, the ABS and traction control warning lights started flashing. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,327.
