"Service Antilock Brake System" & "Service Electronic Braking System" error messages are popping up on the dash on and off while truck is running. Sometimes pop on after starting the vehicle while sitting in drive and other times while driving.
Vehicle randomly throws error codes on the dashboard. 1. Service Antilock Braking System 2. Service ABS Braking System. When this occurs, an audible chime sounds, and a visual warning warning displays on the digital dashboard covering current speed and other information. Also the cruise control is turned off, and I believe all ABS and Traction control features are disabled. While I have not yet experienced a related accident, I have had several close calls with other vehicles following behind me. By the time I react, they are on or near my tail end and nearly rear ended me. I contacted my local Dodge Ram dealership and they told me that the needed part (hydraulic control unit) has been backordered for nearly 4 years. They cannot disable the warning light nor the audible chime which may sound and flash 15-20 times a minute sometimes. They suggested I contact Mopar customer service, which I did and they ended up transferring me to another dealership that said I had to pay 300 dollars for a diagnostic and it would 2-4 days. If they cannot find the replacement part, I am out of luck on the diagnostic fee. No parts are available.
Almost constant beeping and flashing indicators telling me to "Service Anti-Lock Brake" system. Taken to repair shop and they tell me there is not a fix and there is an engineering stop on the HCU. A code read returns an active C0020-01 code. The brakes do seem to work but the ABS and Traction Control indicators flash constantly with the beeping. I haven't test the ABS functionality but would assume it is not functional based on the indicators.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with ABS failure. The contact was informed that the ABS needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the failure was a known failure with similar vehicles. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times; however, the contact was informed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive for long distances because of a persistent failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. Additionally, the contact was informed that the dealer could repair the vehicle if the contact paid out of pocket for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
Service Anti lock Braking System light came on. Took it to the dealer and was told I need a new Hydrolic Control Unit, but dealer can not even order one until February 2024 at the earliest. I now how an unsaved truck I am just stuck with
One month after the 3 year warranty ran out the truck issued a "Service ABS System" alert on the instrument panel. Had to replace the ABS Hydraulic Module at the dealer. 2 Years and 2 months, just after the additional warranty ran out, the same part failed again. Same warning on the instrument panel. Again took it to Ram Service at dealer and had it replaced again. This is a faulty part and the replacements are faulty as well. It is happening so often that it is hard for the dealer to find the part.
Anti-lock brake / traction control lights come with audible chime. Message reads service anti-lock brakes and service electronic brakes. Problem is intermittent with light coming on for a duration then going out and clearing message center. At times, the warning lights turn on and off rapidly giving multiple audible tones. Activation of light causes deactivation of cruise control. At highway speeds - rapid deceleration occurs. Unknown if the anti-lock brake or traction control will function while light is on. This will be the second time this issue has occurred. First time repair was covered under warranty for same issue. Diagnostic’s performed at authorized Ram dealer (10/27/2023) (Approx. 48500 mile's) indicates issue with Anti-lock brake control and Anti-lock brake module. Remedy - replace defective parts with: 68143491AB Control: Anti-Lock Brake 68347098AB Module: Anti-lock brake Total cost to repair: 1478.25 Dealer states that no factory warranty on this repair. Parts not available until February 21st 2024
The ABS-HCU is defective causing a loss of the safety aspects of it purposes, Constant warning alarm and flashing screen. The parts to repair are not available. My dealer is not optimistic of the part replacement correcting the problem, it might be the Electronic Braking module, got an additional fee. The dealer would not say it was safe to operate but advised against towing I stated that was the purpose of the truck.
Intermittent ABS service warnings, This is a well know problem.
The ABS Motor circuit on my truck is losing power. The issue is this is part of the Hydraulic Control Unit assembly and it is not serviceable without replacing the HCU. Ram does not currently have a solution to this problem. This issue shuts down my Anti-Lock Braking System, traction control and I lose trailer brakes when this system fails. This is a safety issue and a recall needs to be issued for this.
My ABS HCU sensor has failed and is causing my ABS system, traction control, and cruise control to stop working. Due to the high failure rate of this part RAM / Mopar is refusing to release any available parts for repair until February / March 2024. There are currently 4,000 of these parts in stock on the east coast but the company will not release them until 2024. Instead RAM / Mopar is asking me to continue driving my vehicle for 5 months with a failing ABS system, no traction control, and intermittent 4WD. The component has been inspected by the local RAM dealership and has been determined to be faulty while under warranty.
Bought the truck new in 2018 from Planet Dodgein Miami. One year later (2019)the service braking system light came on. Dealer fixed the issue under the warranty. One and a half years later (2021, same issue and the dealer fixed the issue under the warranty at Napleton Dodge in Clermont Florida. 1.5 years later (2022), same issue. Dealer (Advantage Dodge Mount Dora Florida. said they needed to replace the same parts and added they needed to replace an additional part to correct the issue. This time I was charged $1000. Another year later (10/2023) the same issue and I'm being told by Advantage Dodge in Mount Dora Florida, the warranty will not cover and I have to pay $1500. Dealer told me it should be covered under the original warranty. Gave me the number to warranty (800)992-1997 (Trevor) told me not covered any longer and the dealer should warranty. Called the dealer back and they told me to call the number back. I did and was told a second time and they told me it is no longer under warranty and they (Eta) told me to call a second number (800)521-9922. Called that number and they have me a third number to call (800)765-7732. They told me the dealer should handle the issue and it's not covered under original warranty. Now the dealer will not return my call and they still have my truck.
ABS control module failure leading to loss of anti-lock brakes. The vehicle is available for inspection. Yes, the truck has become uncontrollable under emergency braking situations. Yes, the problem was confirmed by the dealer, but there is apparently no remedy available for at least another year. This is the second time the ABS/HCU module has failed. The first instance was fixed by the dealer in 2021. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. The warning lamps first appeared when emergency braking. They are now intermittent, with no consistency as to whether the ABS system is active or not.
I purchased my 2018 Ram Power Wagon used in 2020 with only 2300 miles on it. In 2022, I started to have intermittent ABS and traction control lights flashing on and off. I took the truck to the dealership and was informed the HCU was defective and needed to be replaced. The truck was still under warranty and was repaired. In Nov 2023, again the ABS and traction control started flashing. Again I took the the truck to the same dealership for repair. This time, however, I was told the truck in no longer under warranty (timed out, not mileage (26000 miles)) and the part wasn't going to be covered, additionally, was told the HCU part was not available, as it was under engineering re-design. After discussion with the service manager, he agreed that since this is the second occurrence, I wouldn't be charged for the part, just labor for the repair, however, the part wouldn't be available until the spring / summer of 2024! I asked if I could continue to drive the truck while waiting for the part to come in and was told that I wouldn't have anti-lock brakes. Obviously I expressed my concerns about driving the truck and asked if Ram was going to issue a safety recall for the part. I was told no. I am still waiting for the part and refuse to drive the truck in the rain or wet conditions.
My ABS notification light continues to come on. I had body work done at a collision center for the rear quarter panel and when they had their mechanic inspect it, he determined that the ABS module was faulty. Additionally, the collision center indicated there is a current class action lawsuit for the very same part. The ABS and traction control will go on intermittently and continues to do so the entire time the vehicle is driven. Fortunately, I haven't had any accidents as a direct result because I refuse to take long trips or travel on the freeways for fear of it failing when needed most. The part is almost impossible to locate and when there is one available its either grossly overpriced or reserved within minutes of locating one.
Complaint already filed. Have been waiting on HCU module and ABS module for over 1 year. Intermittent braking issue, and trouble code is constantly going off. Called dealer every 3 months and no part available. They say it is an engineering hold by Ram. Latest update is to check back 2/2024.
ABS service light coming on, and service electronic brake system keeps coming on. Recall on 2019-2022 RAMS for same issue. Told to report issue here.
Known issue that Ram 2500 from this year have issues with their ABS modules and hydraulic control unit (HCU) modules. This could potentially disable the electronic stability control (ESC), which is designed to help maintain vehicle control during a slide. The truck experiences issues such as the loss of anti-lock braking, cruise control, and traction control. This is a known issue that has been the subject of several class action lawsuits that Ram refuses to issue a recall for. Quoted price from dealer to fix is $1,200.
The ABS and traction control systems on our 2018 2500 RAM truck are failing randomly, and the warning lights are coming on. The cruise control system is also randomly failing. Therefore, as we drive the vehicle and using cruise control the vehicle will randomly turn off the system causing safety concerns. The braking system and traction safety systems are not working properly and safely. The cruise control issues have been occurring for about 2 to 3 months. Over the last 1 to 1.5 months the ABS and traction control systems have started randomly failing and turning on the warnings lights and bell. We took the vehicle in for service today at the RAM dealer and was informed that the parts are backordered and unknown when any parts would be available. The dealer confirmed the systems are not functioning properly and provided written estimates and summaries of their findings. The dealer advises to replace the HCU and retest the system. The dealer advised to replace the steering wheel wiring and cruise control switch. The vehicle mileage at the time of the dealer evaluations was 23,052 miles.
The ABS system is not working. The warning lights for ABD and skid prevention are lit. During hard breaking the tires will lock up and slide. This also turns off the cruise control.
2018 RAM 2500, 140,000 miles. During a long trip home to ND traveling on interstate 29 in SD warning lights appeared on the dash indication ABS problems. The cruise control also stopped working. We checked it with a code reader and it indicated a cose associated with the ABS brake system failure. ABS brake system failure, ABS pump motor control failure, also affecting loss of cruise control. Code C0020-01 confirmed. RAM dealers report that corrected replacement parts are not available and loss of brakes could result possibly causing harm to the vehicle and passengers.
Vehicle started flashing “Service ABS Braking System” and “Service Electronic Braking System” intermittently. There is no rhyme or reason and no way to make vehicle reproduce this at will.
Since incident, the messages continue to appear in my dash. "Service Antilock Brake System" and "Service Electronic Braking System", flashing on and off erratically. I talk directly to Mopar which is overseas, and they tell me it isn't covered because its under the basic warranty which has expired. I asked them to send me the documentation so I can see it in writing and they said they cannot send it or show it to me and that only they can see this information. I am concerned that they are not being honest with the warranty coverage because my five year/100,000 expires in June 2024; and ironically they said the ABS part isn't available until June.
Multiple service ABS warning lights every time it is driven. ABS will not work sometimes, dealer replaced ABS HCU and continue to have same issues. This is very common in 2017 and 2018 Ram diesel vehicles.
The ABS light comes on intermittently with a message to have braking system serviced. This causes a loss of braking performance, & cruise control. With this happening intermittently, it is impossible to have repaired by dealership. As the error disappears. I had also had this issue with a 2017 RAM 2500 I owned previously.
2018 Ram Sept 23, 2020 at 15,000 miles ABS light flashed on. Code said pump electrical failure. Dealer replace under warranty. Oct 12, 2023 at 50,900 miles, service ABS notice flashes on screen. Dealer confirmed ABS failure but said parts were on indefinite back order. Said last one took over a year to get parts in.
My dashboard keeps flashing “Service Antilock Brake System” and “Service Electronic Braking System”. The warning or notification goes out and comes back almost every time you hit a slight bump in the road or even if you don't. Seems to be very intermittent. Cruise control goes out when the lights are on and the truck lurches a bit. The dings and lights flashing are very annoying. Took it in to my local dealer and they checked the electronic codes and found a new module is $510 and NO ETA to dealer and the HCU is $262 and not available until 2/21/24!!! Total to install will be $800+ NOT covered under any warranty. They tell me it's not dangerous to drive since I can still brake....REALLY??? No ABS brakes seems to ba a severe problem to me. There is a class action lawsuit about this in CA: The FCA Ram defect class action lawsuit is Neu, et al. v. FCA US LLC, et al., Case No. 5:23-cv-00509, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
I keep getting warning lights for ABS problems. Saw there was recalls for the 2019-2022 and saw there was a class action law suit for the 2018 models.
ABS and Traction Control lights and associated chime intermittently (but relentlessly) turn on/off/on. This happened while towing a trailer in mountains and disabled my ABS, traction control and cruise control. This 2018 Ram 2500 4x4 has only 17,100 miles. The codes C2200 and C0020 that it shows, according to Ram, require an ABS module and hydraulic control unit. The latter is unavailable and even if it was, is known to fail again regularly within a couple of years. This is a HUGE safety issue we need help fixing.
I am getting an ABS sensor warning that was previously fixed 3 years ago under warranty but is now resurfacing. It is a constant alarm that prevents the cruise control from engaging.
The gear shifter on my truck separated in two. This has been a past problem with this vehicle and was subject to a recall for all G56 equipped ram trucks from 2015-2016. However, the problem still occurs and the replacement part is just as faulty. Previous recall is under Customer Satisfaction Notification T-13. However, these recall does not cover 2017-2018 trucks, despite the shifter being just as faulty.
My 2018 Ram ABS and Traction Control light keep coming on then they go away for a few miles then come back. this item has been fixed but it came back. i spoke with the mechanic but he said, Rams have had this trouble. i'll have to keep dealing with it till they come out with a solution. i looked up the problem and seen numerous complaints same problem. i can disconnect the fuse and not have the warning bell but hen no ABS brakes. has there been a recall? (previous owner had it repaired twice but it keeps doing it.)
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the "Service ABS" warning light would intermittently appear on the instrument panel. The contact used a code reader which retrieved an ABS pump motor control failure. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
I have had this recall for over 3 years and its still not fix. Its dangerous to drive because you will never know when the brakes goes out completely. I have call the dealership many times and I receive the same answer like they waiting on the parts to arrive.
Brakes don't seem to stop as they should and now the lights came on and dealership says I need a new abs pump and there are none available
Intermittent ABS light and Service Electronic Braking System lights coming on and off. Appears from previous reports this is a known issue that has been going on for years now with this vehicle and should be fixed. I purchased a new hydraulic and electronic module from dealer at around 35000 miles and replaced. Issue was fixed or so I thought, at around 70000 miles lights are intermittently on and off again. No known issue was contacting ram direct, dealer I bought vehicle from stated the electronic module is backordered and has already been replaced with another part number, I believe it was a faulty replacement from the get go. Hydraulic module was said to be under engineered testing again per the dealer. Extremely frustrating from the customer end, no cruise, no abs braking capabilities. No known deaths to this point linked to this specific issue to my knowledge but I wonder if Ram will move a little faster on the fix or recall once they have something fatal on their backs for this.
My Anti Lock Brakes, Traction control and power steering have gone out repeatedly on this vehicle. The ABS pump HCU unit has failed at 8,433 miles. The same thing failed again at 12,924 miles. As of this complaint the same thing has failed again at 20,000 miles. I have not had it repaired because Ram will not guarantee the new part they put in is not defective, like the original part and the 2 other replacement ABS pump they installed which have failed. I don't drive my this truck that much because without the abs for which the break system on the truck was designed for I feel like it is a danger to myself and others.
The service anti lock break system and the service electrical break system warnings keep flashing. The traction control light and the ABS light continuously flash as well.
The ABS/Anti Skid warning lights and notifier goes off every one to three minutes, clears itself then repeats. I travel two hours to work and return to the obsessive malfunction.
ABS and traction control lights on randomly. See a lot of complains online of similar models.
Anti Lock brake system and service electronic brake system message keeps going on & off every 30 seconds & will shut down cruise control if it is engaged. Happened in 10/11/2021 & now 10/8/ 2023.
My ABS module and HCU are acting up. Warning lights on dash keeping going on and off intermittently stating service Anti Lock Brake system and Service Electronic Braking System. Traction Control loss warning light accompanies these lights. I have had the module replaced twice already and still not working. Was told yesterday (Dec 07,2023) by warrant repair facility that there is a new upgraded part available and to file a complaint. These problems started in October of 2023.
The ABS Control module has been replaced once for constantly giving the “service anti-lock braking system” message and making a dinging sound. The repair worked for a little over a year and it’s happening again.
Antilock braking systems does not work
When driving down the road the anti-lock brake and traction control lights came on. Anti-lock brakes quit working making the vehicle unsafe to drive. C0020-01 trouble code was noted. HBU and or ABS module fault is apparent.
The Antilock Braking System is faulty. The Service Braking System is faulty. I was trailering under load when I had to apply breaks due to a road hazard. My Antilock Braking system did not function properly and my tires locked up. My vehicle was in a slide while trailering a load. Fortunately I was able to maintain control and avoid an accident. I had previously contacted my dealer about the warning light constantly alerting me that I needed to service the Antilock Braking System and the Service Brake System. I was told by the Service Department and Steele Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Gonzales, TX that they were aware of the issues with the HCU on 2017-2018 Ram 2500/3500. They stated that there were no replacement parts available and that I should continue driving my vehicle with the Warnings constantly going off on my dash. I am not happy about this situation and feel a resolution needs to be formulated by the manufacturer. I am aware now of many complaints regarding this part issue with this make and model. I rely on my vehicle for my livelihood. I cannot drive my vehicle as it was designed to be driven as per the manufacturer's design.
The ABS and traction control indicator lights come on and off intermittently. This is a huge safety concern has the ABS and traction control may malfunction. This issue has been brought to the dealer and they replaced parts less than two years ago. It has reoccurred less than two years later.
On October 6th, 2023, my ABS and traction control light began to intermittently come on and turn off. Truck had about 60k miles on it at this time. Problem still persists now at 63k miles and seems to be getting worse. In 5 minutes of driving at freeway speeds, the lights come on and turn off about 20-30 times. I worry that my ABS system is not functioning properly and may result in an accident. Issue has been replicated by technicians at 4 Wheel Parts. Code reader is showing a C0020-01 code is stored in the computer.
ABS Service light flashes on after rainy days and or going over a bumpy road.
ABS constantly fails. Check ABS and traction control fail light constantly appearing. Suspected ABS module failure.
