My vehicle keeps throwing up a service ABS and service electronic braking system intermittently and the braking system is greatly diminished. Vehicle has been inspected and the replacement parts for the breaking system are on national back order without a recall open.
I have had problems with the ABS lights and warning come on 4 times. 2 times I have had it repaired by Philips Dodge Ram in Ocala Florida. I had it repaired at my own expense at Hilton Automotive and once under warranty at Hilton Automotive. My truck only has 12145 miles on it. The lights are still on and the warning flashes at times. It appears to have something to do with the temperature. After repairing it worked for a week or so until the temperature dropped under 75 at night. I cannot afford to spend over $1000 a month to keep this straight.
For the third time in 37000 miles the abs system including ABS system and electronic brake system has failed. This has been repaired around 15000 miles and recently at 35000 and it went out again at 37000 miles. Didn't last 2500 miles after last repair. When this happens trailer brakes quit functioning and cruise control also quits working as well as every few minutes the system gives you a continuous warning chime. From checki9ng a few web sites this seems to be an on going problem on the 2018 trucks mostly but a few 17s. Last info I have is parts are not avail for repairs until at least 2/24 and then only maybe. The truck is unsafe to drive especially when towing a larger trailer. This needs to be made a recall for safety concerns. I had to trade off my truck due to how I use it and no expectation for a repair time or date.
ABS/Trac lights ding constantly with the dash displaying "service electronic stability" or something along those lines. ABS system becomes inoperable as well as kicking your cruise control off. Very unsafe and parts are not available for repair as well as Ram not taking recall action up to this point.
I am experiencing problems with my ABS & Traction Control system. This is the 3rd time I have had this issue with my truck since I purchased it new in 2018. The truck only has 56k miles on it. ABS/Traction control is definitely a safety issue due to brake not functioning properly as the truck is designed to do. Dealer says there are no alternative parts that can be installed & there is no recall. This is a rather costly replace/repair. Why is RAM not doing something to address this issue? There are forums online that say this is a known issue. Some state that RAM recalled some selected trucks, but my truck does not come up for the recall. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. ABS IS SOMETHING YOU DO NOT WANT TO FAIL IN RAINY CONDITIONS. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO MAKE THESE REPAIRS TO OUR ABS SYSTEM EVERY COUPLE YEARS. THE CODE COMING UP IS: C0020-01 - ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL - GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE.
ABS system keeps failing. Loose ABS, traction control, and 4 wheel drive. Part has been replaced 3 times already. 4th part is having issues
I am receiving an alert in my truck that states, "Service Antilock Brake System." The emergency warning sound and lights on the dash/display appear constantly. This also affects the "Speed Control" as it kicks off the cruise control when the emergency warning sound and lights come on the dash. I have taken the vehicle to a RAM Dealership who diagnosed the issue, but was advised that parts are on backorder, which is unacceptable as this can be a very dangerous and potentially costly situation. I believe that NHTSA should look into this and provide a recall on the vehicle and expedite the process to getting, not only my vehicle, but others around the country fixed in a timely manner.
ABS module has gone out as it has in almost all of the 2017-2021 ram 2500 with the 6.7 Cummins engine
ABS and traction control lights warn on dash and chime. Very intermittent and my truck only has 14,749 total Miles on it. I understand most of us with 17/18’s have this issue. I don’t feel safe having intermittent use of proper braking as we pull trailers with this vehicle. It’s the entire purpose we bought it. Dealer will not repair under warranty. Need a recall. Repairs cost thousands on these low mile like new trucks.
Antilock brake controller malfunctioning. After a quick google I see this is a a very common issue so I’m confused as to why it’s not a “recall” item. Thanks for your assistance.
Abs HCU failure. This is a know common issue and yet no recall. THIS IS NOT SAFE
My ABS and traction control dash lights came on and lost cruise control while towing my RV. I fear of someone rear ending me when loosing CC. The alerts intermittently go on and off.
Anti-lock braking system and Hydraulic Control Unit were replaced on my truck. The original parts are defective, and many owners of 2017-2018 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks have had the same issue.
Ram 2018 ABS pump failure. No abs, no traction control. Dealer states no parts until, maybe, Feb 2024. Service manager stated do not drive as brakes could/may totally fail. Web search shows common issue with 2018 Rams.
My ABS Module and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) Part Number 68143491AA seems to have failed and it seems as it is a very common problem which needs to be addressed by RAM. My ABS is not working, my traction control is not working, and my cruise control is not working. While I drive it constantly goes on and off and chimes over and over and over. This is VERY dangerous to not have the braking or traction control not working and is putting me and my family in danger. This needs to be a recall. Not to mention the part that needs to be replaced is on national backorder and you can't even get it. Please help.
ABS and Traction Control warning lights randomly and routinely illuminate causing loss of ABS braking and traction control, and loss of the cruise control function.
ABS and SERVICE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM warning lights randomly turn on while driving and cause loss of ABS braking and traction control, this is dangerous on slick roads.
Service Electric Brake System is displayed and ABS light on. Truck only has 52045 miles on it.
Drivers side battery died, after replacement of the battery, the ABS ,traction control lights came on and off with display of "service ABS system" in the display center. this has continued to flash with audible warning ever since battery replacement.
My ABS and Traction control lights activated visually and with audible alarms. I brought it to the dealer. It only has 23,000 miles on it with a manufacturer extended warranty. The dealer told me that the ABS pump motor control as well as the HCU has failed and need to be replaced. They also told me that the parts are not going to be available until the EARLIEST February of 2024. The vehicle is not safe to drive without these safety systems working especially towing. They told me the parts are under Engineering review. They suggested I park the vehicle until parts are available. NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! I have looked at owner forums and this issue is common and needs to be addressed by NHTSA and the vehicles recalled due to safety.
Abs pump motor control/Yes. unknown. unknown. unknown. Yes, continually blinking and dinging abs light (SERVICE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) (SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKING SYSTEM).
Vehicle started displaying “Service Electronic Braking System” and “Service Anti-Lock Brakes” intermittently and rapidly, during normal driving. Problem appears at random, and when it happens, the cruise control cuts out causing loss of speed. Truck shows code C0020-01 with an ABS code reader, meaning that either the Hydraulic Control Unit or Anti Lock Brake Module (or both) require replacement. Upon researching repair, I have found that this is a very common problem with these trucks, and that there is a possible NHTSA investigation into this, as Ram is very aware of the problem (as evidenced by their responses on forums discussing this problem) but has not issued a recall.
Started recently getting an anti-skid warning with a chime. I took the truck to a nearby mechanic to read the code, he said the antilock brakes were bad, and suggested taking it to a dealer. I took the truck to the Ram dealership in Mineral Wells TX and the dealer confirmed the code. I have talked with 3 different Ram service departments and they all tell me the parts will not be available until next year. Why should I drive an unsafe vehicle, because the manufacturer cannot supply parts?
Driving down the road. ABS light and traction control light will flash and cruise control and 4x4 will not work
Similar to the 2019 & newer Ram HD recall for the ABS electronic control module, my 2018 Ram 2500 has the same issue. It was recently diagnosed at the dealer in August 2023, but due to the abundance of impacted trucks, the dealer estimates that replacement parts will not be available until at least February 2024. While I wait for the repair I have no ABS, traction control, stability control, or cruise control. I drive the truck approximately 750 to 1,000 miles per week and have a 3,000 mile vacation planned in October. This translates to driving the truck approximately 15,000 to 20,000 miles without the above noted safety features. I believe my truck should be added to the recall, and RAM needs to step up and provide faster repairs.
My truck is at approximately 35,000 miles. It recently started notifying me that the Anti-Lock Braking System and the Traction Control need to be serviced. While researching, I noticed that there were numerous reports of drivers with the same issue on forums related to Ram trucks. It appears that this is a very common issue that has not been addressed by Ram.
ABS , traction lights are on and cruise control , ABS and traction control doesn’t work. Safety issue. I understand that there is a recall on 2019 , 2020 models and wondering why the 2018 ram 2500 are not included in the recall .seems like a common problem says the dealership.
Lights on won’t go off
ABS/traction control sensor issue. I believe it to be a faulty sensor or sensor connection issue which is causing my service brake light to chime and light up at every bump in the road. While driving even just a short distance my service brake light/alert chime goes on and off sometimes every 2-3 seconds and while driving on the freeway my cruise control disengages every time the brake warning pops up. Upon researching this issue I've found thousands of Dodge Ram owners complaining of the exact same issues and dealerships are suggesting they know nothing about this problem.
My 2018 Ram 2500 has an intermittent ABS/ Service Electronic Braking System light. If I am using the cruise control when this light, comes on the cruise control turns off and the vehicle slows in front of moving traffic. I seem to also loose traction control which is dangerous when towing heavy loads.
ABS and Traction Control code warning lights appear intermittently on instrument panel stating “service electronic braking system” and “service ABS system.” These indicators flash consistently on the IP but do not stay constant currently. Failure of these systems could result in loss of control of the vehicle during emergency breaking by allowing the tires to lock up during breaking. Code has been verified by Champion Chrysler Jeep in Brighton Michigan as “ABS Pump Motor Control.”
ABS and traction control indicator lights start flashing and became intermittent during a road trip. I took to dealer and they replaced the abs motor pump and controller this happen 11/21 and after the warranty expired. 3 months ago it flashed a couple of times and now is flashing intermittently each day and will cost another $1600 to replace. The code is C0020-01 and is attached. This happens about 1 min after I start the engine, goes away for a few minutes until I hit some bump in the road and it triggers.
My ABS System has failed and will not operate whiteout changing the ABS Module and the Hydraulic Control Unit. These units are not available and when they are available fail again when install. Need a recall from Dodge on this issue.
Bought vehicle used in August 2022. In August 2023, started getting intermittent chime, abs and brake warning lights and messages to service anti-lock brake system and to service electronic brake system. Took it to my mechanic and he diagnosed a bad abs control module and bad abs hydraulic pump fault codes. He did some research and found this to be a known problem with these trucks. Apparently Stelantis is working the problem but no fix. My mechanic doesn't want to replace the parts for fear the replacement parts are bad too, so I'm living with the problem. He said in the mean time, be aware I have no anti-lock brakes and no cruise control.
Abs system continuously inoperable causing antilock system to not work and distracting driving due to alarm constantly chiming then resetting and then starting again
The Hydraulic Control Unit Chrysler part number 68143491AA failed and has not been replaced yet. This causes the Anti-lock braking system and Traction control system to no longer function limiting function under wet or slippery conditions. This puts the driver and others at risk. The vehicle/component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were no Warning lamps/messaged before failure only after. These would be ABS lamp and traction control lamp plus a service ABS warning message. It flashed intermittently for months before finally staying on permanently starting a couple weeks ago.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the ABS and Traction Control warning lights continuously flashed off and on or remained illuminated. Also, during the failure the cruise control became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who determined that the Hydraulic Control Unit was faulty and needed to be replaced but the parts were on back order from the manufacturer. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was 78,000.
Hydraulic Control Unit failed, along with the control module. The ABS warning light is flashing intermittently, and i do no believe the ABS system is working. The dealer has indicated there is no estimate on when these parts will be available.
HCU for ABS has failed - Intermittently fails when in operation. Basically hit a bump in the road and it fails. Hit another bump and it "fixes itself". Then hit another bump and it fails. Lights up the ABS light, ESC light, brake light, esc. After some research, this seems to be a common issue on the 2018 Ram 2500's.
Vehicle constantly displays “service electronic braking system” message. ABS light will not turn off. Dealer tells me there is nothing they can do for me and they have multiple customers with 2018 RAMs with same issue and replacement parts are not available.
August of 2023 I had my service electronic braking system, abs, and traction control light come on. Dealer diagnosed as bad hcu. As of today 2-4-25 I am still waiting on parts with no answer as to when parts will be available for the repair.
My 2018 Ram 2500 has an active safety recall for the ABS/EBS system that has been open for over two years with no remedy or parts available. The issue was first noticed in August of 2023. I contacted CDJR dealership on how to repair this issue. This is a serious safety defect that directly affects braking stability, trailer brake communication, and emergency handling. Because the ABS module and electronic brake system are malfunctioning, the truck cannot safely perform the heavy towing it was purchased for. When towing a large trailer, the trailer’s electronic braking system does not communicate with the truck, forcing the truck to absorb the full braking load. This has resulted in unstable braking, increased stopping distance, and unsafe emergency handling at highway speeds. The ABS fault also disables cruise control, which significantly increases driver fatigue on long-distance trips. I regularly travel 1,500 miles each way to Florida, and without cruise control I must maintain throttle manually for hours at a time, requiring more frequent stops and reducing alertness. This defect has caused premature brake wear due to the trailer brakes not engaging properly. I was forced to replace the rear rotors and pads at only 32,000 miles, costing me $2,700. This is not normal for a heavy-duty truck and is directly related to the ABS/EBS failure. The unresolved recall has also severely reduced the resale and trade-in value of the vehicle. Dealers discount or refuse vehicles with open safety recalls and no available remedy. I am also paying $138 per month for a Mopar extended warranty that I cannot use to repair this defect because the manufacturer has not supplied the necessary parts for over two years. This is an unreasonable delay for a safety-critical recall. The vehicle is unsafe for its intended purpose, creates financial harm, and exposes me to ongoing risk every time I tow. I am requesting NHTSA intervention to compel Stellantis to provide a timely remedy.
C0020-01-ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL - GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE is the code that came up after the dash start flashing between service ABS and service electronic brake system. The TSB says to replace the HCU and the ABS module after checking each one. I wasn't driving far, so it did not affect my safety. I have parked the truck until I can get it fixed. The problem was identified by using a friends code reader and researching several online forums. It has not yet been inspected by anyone else as I have been trying to find the parts and they are on national back order. The one dealership stated they are on national back order until FEB 2024 due to engineering review. Prior to the warning lamps, I did notice that it felt like my front driver side brake was holding the rotor after I would release the brake and start to accelerate.
ABS failed, cruise control and traction control are inop as a result. The risk is loss of ABS when traveling, especially on wet or snow and ice covered roads. It has not been inspected by a mechanic. The failure light is on in the dash cluster and I have clearly lost traction control and cruise control. This began on July 31, 2023.
ABS service light comes on intermittently causing inconsistent braking, especially during bad weather. I need to know I can count on my anti-lock brakes. Many calls to the dealer service center and they say there is no fix for the problem. How can this be? Brakes are a fundamental necessity for a vehicle. They won't / can't fix this? Please investigate. I know I am not the only person with this issue. My brother owns the same 2018 RAM 2500 and he is also having the issue. Also, there are thousands of complaints about this online. Please investigate and keep Stellantis accountable!!!
The abs pump and module are bad and there is no replacement parts available through ram. The truck only has 32k miles. They say the parts are on back order. The truck has no abs function nor does it have vehicle traction control. This should be a recall as it’s happening to thousands of trucks. This is a blatant safety violation. Yet the new trucks are still being built with these parts that are somehow not available.
Abs & traction control lights come on and off constantly. Cruise control will not work when lights are on. They stay on 95% of the time. Told this is an abs pump failure issue
Driving home from work, ABS and traction control light and warning started to go on and off nonstop every 2 seconds or so. No bumps on the road or excessive turning just a straight highway.. will contact dealer today for any recalls but I don’t see any open.
The ABS - Anti-Skid lights come on and off intermittently while driving, or it's actually done this just sitting still a few times. When it first started around July 2023 the truck had about 90k miles on it. I called the dealership, they said keep driving it till it stayed on all the time so they could track what was causing it. Well it never stays on, it is on/off at random. The random occurrence nearly caused a bad wreck while driving onto an on ramp wet road. The truck dinged as I was making the turn, it started spinning sideways and when I got stopped, I was sideways, I had to move quickly to get out of other cars way. When I tried to go it spun around the other way sideways, stopping traffic. I was lucky the other cars brakes worked or I would have been T-Boned. If I had been pulling the trailer or boat there would have been no way to control the spin or brake sliding, which I am positive would have been a bad wreck. I was not going too fast either, about 30-35 when all this happened. Dodge Ram company needs to fix this issue NOW before someone gets killed. I have an excellent driving record and want to keep it that way. I cannot pull my camper, boat or equipment trailer now cause I'm afraid this will happen and not be so lucky. Sad thing is, Dodge knows about this and are doing nothing about it.
The service electronic braking system and service antilock brake system are having intermittent flashing sometimes it stays on the whole drive. When it does this sometimes the brake pedal will go past the normal range for braking and go almost to the floor before it starts to engage the brakes. After reading several forms this seems to be becoming a common thing the fix is the ABS module and the hydraulic control module. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Yes these parts are available upon request they are still in my truck. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Brakes are not properly working could result in an accident with just myself or many others as I drive mostly highway. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No it has not been reproduced or confirmed by the dealer. I seem to have a lot of incompetent dealerships/mechanics through my dealings with them having mis-diagnosed my other vehicles consistently. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? It has not been inspected by anyone. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes there are warning lamps, messages indicating these issues. There was no other problems prior to the failure. I believe it started on 27 July 2023.
