Service electronic brake system and ABS system
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The dealer diagnosed the failure as an internal short circuit to the ABS hydraulic unit. The vehicle was repaired. The failure reoccurred and the vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 47,187.
I have an intermittent abs warning that turns off abs, traction control, and makes the truck brake worse when it happens. Diagnostics indicate a abs pump failure performed at dealer and an independent shop. Dealership says there’s a hold on the part from Chrysler engineering. I have been informed it’s several of the 2017-2018 2500 rams and makes driving the truck dangerous.
ABS light turned on on the dash. Next a warning that the park sense, ABS, four wheel drive, and Cruise were disabled. Had Diagnostics run and found that the vehicle ABS is logging C0020-01 and C0020-16. Case number S2005000004 from STAR showing this to be a known issue. Contacted every dealership within 100 mile range and the needed part of an ABS HCU is unavailable until at least February 2024. Contacted Stellantis Customer care and they will not assist unless the vehicle receives an official diagnostic from a dealership that will cost me at least $150 and they will not assist with replacing the part or even supplying the part so there was no gain from having the diagnostic officially done at a RAM dealership. Well known issue per every dealership and many online forums. No assistance from RAM/Stellantis at all.
Lights keep coming on for ABS System Check and Electronic Braking System check. Doing research online there are thousands of ram 2500s with the same issue. They keep appearing and then disappearing starting happening July 24th 2023 at around 57,000 miles. I have a appointment with the dealer set up but they can't get me in till August 16th. I'm worried while towing my camper or driving with my family our breaks won't work due to a known issue with these trucks.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while reversing out of a parking space, the "Service ABS System" message was displayed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
ABS light comes on screen along with traction control. Immediate loss of cruise control while traveling 70 MPH pulling 10,000 lbs on a highway. If brakes go on that everyone's safety on the road is at risk. I have not had it to dealer but have had a mechanic put his code reader on it. Warning lamps for this were the ABS light and traction control light.
ABS pump motor control: apparently this is a major problem according to dodge bulletin boards. The replacement part mopar was shipping was defective so they made a updated part that is nearly impossible to get nobody has any stock. Subsequently everyone is driving around with a Faulty ABS system. This is very DANGEROUS. Some people are stuck because the can’t pass inspection for registration purposes with the fault light on.
ABS Module and HCU Failure. No ABS or Traction control which could cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle. There have been several complaints filed but no recall issued. The same part (same part numbers)was recalled for 2019 and newer trucks.Service brake and traction control system lights on. Parts on extended back order.
ABS and/or traction control lights turning on intermittently while driving
Transmission Internal Failure engine revved up and vehicle did not move in the middle of an intersection while making a left turn on coming vehicle had to dangerously steer around our vehicle to avoid a collision. check engine light came on P0729 and P0735 5th and 6th gear ratios issue @92,000 miles ABS and traction control lights came on diagnosed as C0020-01 ABS Pump motor control - General electric failure Traction Control and ABS systems inoperable. Vehicle unsafe in wet conditions and risk of loss of control Replacement part is in back order and dealer not Sartain about availability date
ABS and Electric Braking System Failure
Antilock braking system and HCU failed. Causing loss of antilock brakes and cruise control. M multiple warning lamps flash on my dash intermittently. My truck is now unsafe to drive due to lack of proper braking. This issue has been both confirmed by the dealer and an independent mechanic. Part is backorder due to numerous vehicle having this issue> recently the availability of the part has now changed to February of 2024.
Loss of abs, cruise and traction control randomly, Abs code -C002001 After search seems to be common issue on 18 rams 2500s

Service Electronic Braking System warning locked in. Service Electronic Stability Control warning locked in.
My 2018 Ram 2500 6.4l is experiencing intermittent ABS, traction control, electric braking warnings on the dash which affects cruise control once alarm is active. This issue seems to be globally.
Intermittent Abs Failure. Kicks off cruise control and looses ABS brakes and traction control. Very dangerous. Lost this ability while pulling my RV Camper on wet roads. Went into other on coming lane do to sliding and skidding. I guess this is a very well known issues with no recall or information from Mopar\ Ram to the owners. This almost killed me My wife and my 3 year old grandson.
ABS & traction control lights on along with messages reading "Service Antilock braking system and Service Electronic Braking System. 1st intermittently then very often. Code C0020-01 is stored in the system via OBDII scanner. It is available for inspection at any time. I can not tow anything that requires trailer brakes because I here, through many other online complaints that trailer braking will be inhibited. I have not yet taken it to the dealer yet because it is out of warranty and the part required to fix it properly won't be built/available until Feb 2024. I first saw warning lights/messages in July of this year 2023 with around 37,000 miles. See attached pics.
My ABS service light keeps intermittently coming on and then off. Sometimes days go by without coming on. The all of sudden it comes on. Brakes feel like they are working but brake pedal seems soft. This is a safety issue. Vehicle is awaiting dealer inspection.
Driving, hit 40,5xx miles and ABS and traction control light was flickering on and off. Kept getting warnings to service ABS and Electronic Brake System. After 25 miles of on and off flickering and chimes which were extremely distracting, it turned on and stayed on permanently. I do not have ABS, Traction control or cruise control. This is a known issue with the 2017/2018 models, and Mopar does not cover it even though it should be a recall. Thousands of people are having this issue, and dumping thousands into it all for it to just break again in 10/20k miles. The ABS modules are complete junk
2018 RAM 2500 6.7l service abs system and service electronic braking system warnings on dash. Took vehicle to mechanic shop and scan showed code C0020-01. Symptom/Vehicle issuse: C0020-01-ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL - GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE. Replacing the HCU and ABS Module seems to be the fix. I bought the truck as a hauler for 5th wheel camper and do to abs and traction control failure it can be extremely dangerous to drive.
ABS failure warning light comes on randomly. While it is on, cruise control is disabled. RAM dealer examined truck and determined HCU pump needs to be replaced, but the manufacturer will not allow them to order this part as it is on "engineering review" until at least February 2024. Called RAM Care and they said "there is nothing we can do". When pressed for where to take my appeal to, the only further contact given was a PO Box in Michigan. Not being able to drive a truck I paid $75K for seven months is unacceptable!

ABS/Traction Control warning alarm constantly going off, and affecting cruise control.
The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) issue is present on my vehicle. The problem is intermittent and occurrences cannot be predicted, duration fault varies, sometimes repeatedly cycling fault/no fault/fault etc. When the fault occurs cruise control is either canceled (if active) or not available. Occurs at varios speeds. Please refer to NHTSA's open investigation (NHTSA Action Number: PE22012).
The traction control/service abs system on dash came on following the loss of vehicle cruise control while driving on busy 3 lane of traffic during hill climb causing instant loss of vehicle speed. Was last told by local mopar dealer no parts available, no idea when available. Vehicle had no cruise or traction control. Only 39,000 miles on vehicle currently. Independent service center pulled code C0020-01 abs pump motor control- general electrical failure. From ECU
Started having abs and brake warning lights in 2023. Took to dealer where vehicle was purchased to find out the abs module and something else was bad. After a year I still had not gotten parts. In 2024 a recall was issued on said parts. As of 2026 parts are still not available. The vehicle manufacturer will not do anything to remedy the issue.
ABS module and pump failed at 65k miles. Lost braking performance and stability control. Confirmed by ram dealership. Parts are on nationwide back order.
At Around 44k miles the ABS and traction control light started coming on along with the warning chime. Brought truck to the dealer for diagnosis and they said it needed a ABS hydraulic control module, P/N 68143491AB. I ordered the part but dealer stated that so many parts are defective that part is back ordered at least 4 months. I have no choice but to drive the truck with defective ABS module.
Service ABS lights on the dash, bad pump, brakes locked up in two different occasions. Truck is at the dealership, however, I need to pick it up due to no parts available to repair. My extended warranty is about to expire in the next 4k miles and I should not have to pay for this repair out of pocket, when I took the truck to the dealership before the warranty expires for this issue. My research revealed that this is a known problem with these trucks, which is totally unacceptable for the price we pay to purchase them. This issue started at around 34,000 miles. ***Last Dodge I will purchase****
The Anti Lock Brake light and traction control light is on and going on and off. I am told that the HUC is in need of replacement and none are available for a $60000.00 Truck sold by Ram. This is clearly a safety issue, (Brakes) and either a Recall or a buy back of the effected vehicles need to be done. What can you do since Ram seems to be sweeping it under the rug??
ABS modules and hydraulic control unit (HCU) module failure with around 60,000 miles on the truck. My antilock brakes and traction control will not operate. The dealer has confirmed this is the issue. The lights were flashing on and off and finally just stayed on
Warning lights for service ABS system and service Electronic braking system started coming on intermittently sometimes staying on for extended periods. While the warning lights are on I loose ABS braking controls which could cause the brakes to lock up in an emergency braking situation causing the lose of control that would effect my safety and the safety of others with me or in the emergency situation. I also loose my cruise control function. Code for the alarm is C0020-01 (ABS pump motor control electrical failure).
Had to make a hard stop, now ABS light is on, lost cruise control and traction control. Part is on world wide back order, sometime next year, reading many issues with this year abs system.
ABS module
As of 07/10/2023 vehicle Display saying "service electronic braking system" and "service ABS" intermittently. Vehicle is available for inspection. Vehicle has 46000 miles on odometer. upon further research this is a very common problem involving the need to replace the ABS module and HCU to fix the issue. there is a class action lawsuit on this matter. Estimated repair cost is $1700. Failure of these components can cause injury or death. Vehicle is not recommended to be driven with these component failures.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds with the cruise control activated, the cruise control erroneously deactivated causing the speed to be reduced. During the failure, the ABS and traction control warning lights illuminated. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was contacted regarding the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 101,000.
My ABS / Electronic Stability control warning lights keep coming on intermittently and also sometimes staying on for hours at a time. I cannot use my cruise and my ABS will not work with these problems making this a very dangerous truck to drive. I have read that there are many other trucks with this issue. More specficially the 2017-2018 Ram 2500's. I believe there should be a recall for these parts as this is a intergral function in these HD trucks.
ABS/Traction control lights come on shuts your cruise off light flashes and dings constantly It is a safety issue that needs attention plus parts are not available
ABS and Electric Braking System - multiple failures.. 1st time system failed at around 24k miles, was reported and fixed under warranty, 2nd time same system failures at around 76k, same errors and same results.. will have to be repaired under owners costs.. Seems this is a 'known issue with a NTSB" but Ram still not owning the issue.. This part plays a huge role in the safety controls of the truck.. They are designed and built to pull heavy loads and the braking and traction controls play a huge role in the safety traveling of these vehicles..
Intermittent dash flashing of ABS and "service electronic brakes" messages tied to known HCU/ABS module fault/failure. C002-01 code. Driving over light bumps trigger lights on/off. Dealership told me to ignore lights and code.
The anti-lock braking system will fail intermittently which disengages the cruise control and traction control system as well as cause an audible chime. When this occurs, it may happen once or many times over the course of a few minutes, stop, start again, or stop altogether to reoccur a few days later. The issue appears to be the ABS control/hydraulic control unit issue others report. Loss of anti-lock brakes is a concern in itself; however, trucks in the class of a Ram 2500 are regularly leveraged as tow vehicles. Losing anti-lock brakes and traction control while towing increases risk significantly. In addition, losing cruise control coupled with simultaneous warning lights and chimes creates a significant distraction for the driver which under difficult driving conditions may prove dangerous.
ABS system keeps coming on and off saying to repair. Code C0020 ABS pump motor ctrl pulls up on scan reader.
ABS and HCU service problems
I was driving my truck home from Wyoming and my ABS and Traction control lights started to go on the Fritz which caused me to lose cruise control while pulling my camper trailer that weighs 10k pounds with my family in the vehicle.
2018 Ram 2500 ABS issue. ABS warning light and traction control lights flashing on and off.
