ABS hydraulic control unit failed. less than 25k on vehicle. dash message to service and ABS and traction lights as well. bumps and hard braking seemed to cause this to happen, but originally happened as driving as normal. vehicle was rendered uninspectable by dealership and part was ordered . called chrysler and was told this is a known problem without a recall at this time.
Radio will show back up camera when driving, call cops, call people, turn the station, turs the heat up and A/C on and offd
abs / traction control system failure and cruise control no longer function. This has been intermittent since May, 2023. This became permanent in November, 2023.
Starting at about 28,000 miles the ABS & Traction Control lights would come on, Disabling the Anti-lock braking system. During slick road conditions the truck would often skid when braking, especially when towing. The anti-lock brakes didn't work. This also triggered the check Engine light, Disabling the Cruise Control. All of this would occur randomly and often with no pattern. Prior to reaching 36,000 miles on the odometer, I went to Andy Mohr Chrysler Dodge Jeep for diagnostics. Service Department reported a code for internal ABS Module Failure. I then returned to the Dealership at 39,249 miles on [XXX] for recall on drag link replacement in steering and for repair of traction control system. Steering system was repaired but parts were on national back-order for ABS Repair. They delivered truck on [XXX] but kept repair order open with no charge at that time. Received call from dealership saying parts had arrived for ABS system for repair on [XXX]. Repairs were completed and I picked truck up on [XXX]. The invoice total was $1862.27, as they had charged for the steering recall also. After a month of back and forth with the service department and then speaking to the General Manager, they refunded $187.31 on 3/4/2024 meaning the ABS repair was $1674.96. I'm still unsure if that is the correct amount. Repair order # [XXX]. Truck is now working properly when braking. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Abs and traction control lights intermittently on and off as well as service abs system message. Had the vehicle scanned and code C0020-1 “abs pump motor control” was identified. After a lot of research this exact problem is being reported by many others with the same year and model caused by a faulty hydraulic control unit and module. Please help us resolve this known safety issue.
My ABS and traction control lights come on and off. When the lights are on I have no ABS or cruise control. When the lights turn on and off it's a distraction to my driving. If I am driving with cruise control and the ABS light activates I lose cruise control and have an abrupt decrease in speed. If I brake on a slick surface such as mud without ABS sometimes I skid and my stopping distance is increased.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the ABS warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the wheel sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ABS module, ABS pump, ABS module, and HCU needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
ABS light come on intermitting, and dealership said it needs a new ABS module, but they cannot get the part because it is under review, so I cannot even get the part.
HCU / ABS module issues. Truck while driving has no cruise control my lights stay illuminated all the time, truck only has 57,000 miles and already repaired all 4 abs wheel speed censors, spent countless hours visibly checking all wires and fuses make sure no defects there. This could be a very dangerous and life threatening situation and I would think it's only right for Dodge Ram to recall the 2017-2018 for this ABS issue.
Getting Code C0020. The ABS light and traction control light go on and off while driving down road. This also disables the cruise control. Seems like alot of people are having this issue with there Rams. Seems like a safety issue with the brakes because its intermittent.
Hard braked to stop from hitting object in road, abs and tcs light came on. Abs module and hcu need to be replaced, but hcu is on backorder and currently people are reporting 12 months plus to obtain it, and I need to meet fmcsa requirements with no part availability.
Brake HCU unit and ABS faulty, cruise control inoperable. Dealer has inspected and reported HCU unit defect and very expensive repair.
My 2018 Ram 2500 started getting an intermittent "Service Electronic Brake System" console message and light followed by a "Service ABS System" warning. I researched the symptoms online and saw that the NHTSA is currently conducting an investigation into this issue with similar vehicles, and Ram is facing two class-action lawsuits about it. Further research says that this could cause a serious braking issue.
Truck has 67,000 miles and is currently at the dealership for the 3rd time with hydraulic control unit and antilock brake system modules needing to be replaced. Service ABS and service electronic braking system lights constantly blink and alarm is chiming. Dealership says part is on backorder with no ETA.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake warning light illuminated, and the "Service ABS" message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was diagnosed with an ABS failure, and the contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that parts would not be available until March 2024. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
The abs light and traction control light have been flickering for years. Now they are on solid. When I went to the dealer they said the part is under engineering review and they can’t fix it anyways. My truck now won’t pass safety inspections and can’t be reregistered
2018 Ram 2500 with 50,056 miles on it and the ABS and Traction control light is on again with Code C0020. The first time this happened was July 2020 at 22,300 miles and the dealer replaced the ABS pump motor. It happened again May 2022 at 41,770 miles and the dealer replaced the ABS pump again. Once again the check engine light is on and the pump needs to be replaced again for the third time at 49,900 miles.
ABS LIGHT AND TRACK CONTROL IS ON AND THE TRUCK IS NOT GETTING TRACTION TO THE GROUND AND MY CRUISE CONTROL IS NOT WORKING WITH THE LIGHT ON.
Since I bought truck with 9k miles abs traction control light has came on, told it was hydraulic control module. Part is on back order and almost impossible to get. Was driving 70 mph on freeway on cruise control all of a sudden warning service anti lock breaking system popped up and cruise control kicked off and brakes locked up. Luckily I was able to control the slide if I was pulling my fifth wheel I might not be so lucky. It pops on and off all the time I have tried to locate this part for awhile now and know this is a common problem with no recall
ABS traction control problem light comes on intermittently while driving. Cruise control will disengage when ABS traction control light is activated. The ABS traction control light is activating more often while driving.
Just threw an abs/traction control code "abs pump motor control general electrical failure". I have already replaced my hydraulic control unit in June of last year. So less than a year later the problem happens again. I called for a warranty replacement of the part and was told there has been a stop on the part and will not be available until September 2023. My safety and others safety are at risk due to the heavy loads I haul on a daily basis in the south Florida wet weather.
ABS / Traction Control turns on and off intermittently without warning when this happens the cruise control turns off creating sudden loss of speed control
Driving and abs and traction light error light comes on for about 10 sec and goes off. It did this about 6 times yesterday while driving home. Seeing that hcu module or abs module may be shorting and causing the error to come on. I am seeing online many instances where this is occurring to ram truck owners on 2017 and 2018. I just bought the truck used in April. I don’t know what I should do on this. With less than 50000 miles it seems very bad these units have issues. If there will be a recall and I fix it to make sure I am safe before a recall is done can I get my money back? The contact stated that the parts needed are on back order.
ABS control valve has failed twice was replaced on 11/01/2021 at 67429 miles. On 5/09/2023 truck was put in shop with same problem. Dealer now wants to replace the ABS control valve and the controller
At 35,000 miles on vehicle the ABS and service braking system started alarming and illuminating, stopped for a couple of days then started again, this is a daily driver vehicle. (ABS Module/HCU ?). The alarm is becoming for frequent.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the Service Brakes message was displayed and deactivated the cruise control and caused the stability and traction control systems to fail to operate as needed. The failure wase self-corrected; however, the failure recurred shortly afterwards. The failure persisted. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.
Driving down the highway with the cruise control set and all of a sudden the cruise control stops working and my dash is dinging with service ABS system and service Electronic Brake System. The truck had 78,500 miles when this first happened. Now it does it intermittently while driving down the road. I notice there’s no recalls and it sound like a large problem. Haven’t taken it to a dealer yet.
The ABS and traction control lights are staying on and the truck only has 8,200
-Dash warning lights and audible warning intermittently and repeatedly flashing "Service Anti-Lock Braking System" and along with warning "Service Electronic Braking System". Yes it is available for inspection. -Intermittent failure of the Anti-Lock and Electronic Braking System due to faulty OEM parts is a very serious risk in the event of heavy braking to preventing an accident. Mine and my families lives are at a great risk because of this! -No, the vehicle has not been to a dealer or service shop yet. A quick Google search of this issue shows it is now a very big common problem showing up among thousands of Chrysler/Dodge/Ram owners reporting the issue. I am very concerned about driving the vehicle now because of this problem from reading/hearing some other peoples stories of this common issue happening to their vehicle(s). -No inspections has been done to the vehicle/components as of yet. -No warning lights or issues before whatsoever until Friday May 5, 2023. That is when the dash warning lights starting displaying the issue.
Ebs light comes on and I lose traction control and cruise control. Happens more often when humid and/or raining . When I use brakes when warning Iight is on brakes lock up -especially in the wet
I have been trying to get my vehicle with 17 k miles repaired since May 2023, and to date the parts, ABS Module and HCU pump are not available. Winter is fast approaching and my ABS light continues to flash also disabling the cruise control. The constant dinging is very annoying and driving the vehicle continues to be very aggravating. I have repeatedly contacted my local dealer and they continue to push out the date when parts will be available. They are not able to confirm engineering design review due in February 2024 when parts might be available. Really! Would it be possible for NHTSA to advise me on maybe when a solution to this problem might happen.
HCU hydraulic control unit the ABS light and traction control intermittently coming on and going off this has been an ongoing issue for nearly a year. This has been “replaced” once already. It is now out of warranty no parts available to fix. I pull a camper if this malfunctions while pulling camper this could tragic for my family. I called dodge they provided absolutely help. This is a known issues and Texas and California have class action lawsuits over this part with dodge. This truck only had 49,000 to date. We need help getting this part recalled before someone gets hurt.
My ABS (Anti-Locking Braking System) module on my brakes has failed for the second time with only 26,900 miles on the truck. The dealer replaced the ABS Module and pump in 2020 and just inspected it on May 3, 2023. I was told i will have to drive it as is until it is possibly fixed in August 2023, when part might be available with no guarantee on date.
Service Electronic Braking System warning lights random comes on and off every time you drive it.
The ABS module and HCU pump failure resulting in intermittent brake failure at highway speed.
ABS ESC constantly flashes and chimes non stop…. Failed control to wheels in wet weather conditions/ no cruise control/ 4x4
ABS brakes and skid control is constantly alarming. Replaced ABS module and HCU module in 2021. Started malfunctioning again in early 2022. Have been waiting since then until now and have yet to have ABS system repaired. Was told by RAM that it would be at least end of June 2023 before repair is available.
The ABS and traction control light is flashing on and off when driving, even though it's a 2018 it only has 7000 miles on it this is a well known problem and is a safety issue. RAM TRUCKS should be taking care of this issue liked they did with the 2019- 2022 modle years trucks I'm also aware of class action law suits for this same problem so that tells me there are many of the same model year trucks having this problem.
Service Electronic Braking System and ABS light is on. I was going 75mph on a highway here in Texas I had 57,487 miles at the time on my 2018 Ram 2500 6.4-liter tradesman crew cab hemi truck. cruise control was on then the light popped up kicking it out of cruise control locking up my back tire for 2 seconds. I called the dealership to see if there was a recall on it they said no. I took it to an aftermarket service center here in Texas and he said the HUC and the ABS module should be replaced at the same time. One of the parts are on backorder its costing me 1,357.98 to replace this. I was doing some research online I notice I wasn't the only one with this issue.
I am having an intermittent service ABS warning light. I took the vehicle in for service and they advised that the ABS HCU needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, they said that the part was back ordered till September. Which means my vehicle has an annoying "dinging" as the alert to have my ABS serviced comes on and off, regularly disengages my cruise control, and at times I am without ABS and traction control.
At 36,000 miles have been told I need to replace ABS pump control general electrical failure. Also replace ABS module. Parts are not available and are on backorder. I pull a 25 foot camper and this issue is causing concern with vehicle stopping. Apparently is a big problem as parts are not available and dealers that have part will not release parts so my truck can be fixed.
2018 Dodge ram 2500 diesel ABS warning lights comes on with constant warning dinging sound. Had vehicle scanned he said ABS brake module was bad. On 9/10/21 this part was replaced with the same issues by Breeden Dodge Fort Smith, AR at a cost to me of $650.60.
Vehicle pulled out from parking lot in front of my truck. I had to hit the brakes very hard and they took longer than normal to stop. Luckily I was able to avoid the accident by going into another lane. Immediately after the abs and stability control lights started flashing and a “service abs system” and “service electronic braking system” messages started. They went away shortly after but since then intermittently sound a warning. When this happens cruise control disengages. Took the truck to the dealer on 7/26 and was told it needs a new hcu abs module. The part is backordered until at least February of next year.
Abs/ traction control light comes on and off lose all cruise control. Get code c0020-1.
ABS module and HCU module are at fault. Have been driving it and lights and dings will come on and off at random. When lights are on I cannot use electric brakes for my trailers either. Dangerous when I’m hauling live horses and no trailer brakes. This is a common issue that Chrysler refuses to recall.
IN 2020 MY ABS CLONTROL MODULE FAILED AT ABOUT 20000 MILES. I HAD IT REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY WITH NO ISSUES. IN MAY OF THIS YEAR (2023) IT STARTED FLASHING ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT NEEDED REPLACING AGAIN BUT THEY DO NOT HAVE AND CANNOT GET THE PART. IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND WORSE. I CAN TELL IT IS AFFECTING MY BRAKES ALONG WITH I CANNOT USE MY CRUISE CONTROL. I HAVE BEEN BACK MULTIPLE TIMES TO CHECK WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TELL ME THE PART IS BACK ORDERED. LAST TIME I WAS THERE IN SEPTEMBER THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE FEBRUARY OF NEXT YEAR AND THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY SO I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR SOMETHING THEY HAVE ALREADY REPLACED ONCE FOR SAME ISSUE.. THE BRAKE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LAMP, AND ABS LAMP ALL FLASH ON AND OFF CONSTANTLY WHILE DRIVING
The abs system failed and caused the cruise control to not function as well as the trailer brakes not operating. It has been inspected by a certified ram dealership in Corscanna, Tx and confirmed that the abs system is out. The abs warning lights comes on and off, on a 30 mile trip it will come on and off 15 or 20 times. This started in May of 2023 on a planned trip of 330 miles pulling a 10,000 pound Rv. The Ram dealer told me the parts would be in in August of 2023, and then in Oct of 2023 and then Jan of 2024, and now April 2024. The dealer tells me it will cost $1600.00 to repair it. I have warranty but no one can get the parts. Thanks
ABS module quit working in May 2023. I can’t get a replacement as Ram claims they are coming but they are not. I pull a travel trailer and it’s a safety concern with no solution in the works
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the ABS warning light, HCU warning light, traction control, and cruise control warning light illuminated. Additionally, the service warning light was illuminated, and the speedometer went blank. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle with code C0020-01 (HCU Motor Failure). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.
ABS service light comes on intermittantly disabling tracktion control systems, cruise control, and other systems. Taken to dealership and told not a recall item but it known defecton make/model. Told cannot order parts until August and repair not available until potentially september.
