The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving 65-70 MPH, the "Service Anti-Lock Braking System" message was displayed, and an audible chime sounded. The contact was able to continue driving. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the ABS module and the ABS pump had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the parts were not available for repair. The vehicle was taken to an unknown second dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the same assessment was made. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
It has been over a year since my truck has had the ABS light and traction control lights on. My repair shop has stated that the problem is the ABS pump. However, the part has been sold out for a year now. So I have been forced to drive my vehicle without ABS breaks for over a year.
Received Code: C0020
I purchased my 2018 Ram 2500 mega cab from Grieco Ford in Delray Beach 4 days ago. As I was driving home, the ABS service, electric braking system and anti lock braking service lights came on. Took it to New Smyrna Beach Jeep Dodge Ram, they plugged it in and said the HCU needed replaced and was it n back order until September. I don’t know what to do.
My 2018 Ram 2500 had a ABS/Traction Control warning light and I took it back to the dealer 01/12/21 and had the the HDC replaced. Mileage on the truck at that time was 16,220. Warranty covered the problem. Problem returned and took it back to the dealer 04/28/23. Mileage at that time was 24,824. Was told that it was no longer under warranty. Was told the part only had a two year warranty. The dealer didn't have the part at that time due to numerous problems with this system. Truck only has 29,022 miles at this time. I haven't had the part replaced and just have to listen to the warning chime continually sounding. Researching the internet reveals this problem is very common and should be a recall with the manufacturer fixing this known problem. I have the Dealer Service Documents.
HCU and ABS Module stopped working. My safety along with other people’s safety is put at risk because if the braking system is not working properly, especially in slippery or wet conditions, then I won’t be able to stop when needed, which can lead to a deadly crash. Yes, the problem was confirmed by the dealership that the hcu and abs control module will need to be replaced. However, the parts are on back order and do not know when they will be in stock, which is a terrible problem to have when it comes to somebody’s brakes. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone since the light came on, except for the dealership diagnosis. The abs light and traction control light pings intermittently. The cruise control stops working when the light pings which could also lead to a crash. Customers should not have to pay for the $1800 repair bill for a Chrysler faulty part.
Intermittent ABS/ HCU light coming on again. Equipment once replace around 20k. Possibly cause of inability to properly stop cause crash. On Oct 2022.
I just purchased a 2018 Dodge Ram Crew Cab from Crown Dodge in Ventura Ca. Within 5000 miles of purchase the ABS has failed and my breaks locked up on the freeway! The truck was taken into the dealership and the service department told me that the part was backordered till mid August and to do ahead and drive it the next 3 1/2 months and assured me it was safe. They sent me home with the truck and said it was totally safe to drive but just don’t break hard or fast?! I left with the alarm beeping continuously and drove home. I am supposed to live without a truck for 4 months? This truck was purchased for towing my commercial fishing vessel daily to and from the harbor being used in conjunction with my limited entry fishing permits ie: crab, sea urchin, sea cucumber, lobster and deeper nearshore rockfish. Without the truck I can not launch the commercial boat that weighs approximately 8000 lbs. Dodge should be held to a higher standard for their trucks! Please HELP! [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The ABS control module failed which results in the ABS system not working. I took the truck in for repair in June of 2022 and had the ABS Module and the ABS hydraulic pump replaced. Now 10 months later, I find that the truck is experiencing similar issues. If you have to push on the brake pedal too hard to avoid an accident, the ABS system shuts down and warning lights come on in the dash. RAM dealers will not warranty the labor to replace the parts and now you cannot even get the parts as they are on backorder. So we have a truck with no ABS system working and cannot even get parts to repair it. And we have to pay for the repair a second time after 10 months. This is unacceptable as we use this truck to pull a boat and camper and now we feel unsafe without a working ABS system.
ABS hydraulic control unit has went out with 6000 miles. It’s a known issue to ram back order of part is 6 months. There are lawsuits over this issue. Why can’t we have ram fix this safety issue. Does it take people getting killed to make this a recall?
Abs control Module & hcu failure Below will not let me updat date problem started approximately a year ago.
track control and abs light on and no cruise control working
I began receiving the Service Electronic Braking System and ABS warnings. In turn, those warnings disable cruise control and traction control. I tow heavy with the pickup and need the systems to work. My understanding is that this is a common problem with this model year. In turn I will not repair this issue on my dime and should be addressed by Ram due to faulty engineering. Either the system will work or it will cause a problem on the road.
ABS light has been intermittently going on and off over the last year. 67,000 miles and it’s not covered under warranty. Dealership is staying I need an entire new module = $1,900
Service Electronic Brake System warning light cycling on and off. ABS, Traction Control, and Cruise Control inoperable.
Hydraulic control unit has failed on the ABS system at 50k miles causing breaks to lock up when wet or heavy load also loss of traction control. Tried to get fixed immediately in April 2023 but was told no stock by dealer and still waiting. I feel that the truck is unsafe to drive but I have no options to have it fixed. I had a previous repair done at he dealer with the same issues at 15k miles while under warranty.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the messages "Check ABS" and "ABS not Engaging" were displayed. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission shifted hard and made abnormal sounds. The contact stated that upon coming to a stop, the vehicle unintendedly shifted to 4th gear. The contact stated that upon parking the vehicle on an inclined driveway, the vehicle rolled backwards. The contact was able to successfully park the vehicle upon shifting in and out of park(P) several times. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was confirmed that the part for the recall repair was not yet available. Additionally, the dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the transmission needed to be rebuilt. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failures, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Vehicle: 2018 Ram 2500, mileage 35171. Beginning in April 2023 the ABS and Traction control dash lights would intermittently flash while sounding an alarm. The message on the dash states "Service Anti-lock Braking System" and "Service Electronic Braking System." This creates the issue of losing ABS and traction control while disabling cruise control. As time progressed it would become more frequent and would more prominent during extremely humid or rainy weather. First call to dealership was told "We can only diagnose IF the vehicle is demonstrating the issue." At that time I indicated to the service tech that there are numerous national forums with the exact same issue. Truck was brought to dealership for official diagnosis: $179.00 diagnosis fee; $411.70 Labor to remove and replace HCM; $262.00 HCU (Part # 68143491AA); 447.50 labor to remove and replace ABS Module; and $388.00 ABS Module (Part # 68347098AB). Service tech advised me that all parts are on back order and I could possibly be without the truck until mid/end of August. This is an issue the manufacturer should be obligated to correct.
The abs and traction control keep coming on and off. Sometimes the truck will sink the Brake. This is a very common problem that happens on these trucks. This is my second time that it goes out on my truck. First time went out at 40k miles now just went out on 76k miles. They’re needs to be a recall set on this as it’s so common to go out on such a short period of time!
ABS and electronic brake control warning lights come on intermittently. Dealer diagnosed ABS Hydraulic Control Unit is bad. Code C0020. Truck only has 44,900 miles. Unsafe towing which is what these trucks do.
ABS and Traction control light on. One of thousands of complaints I see regarding the same issue all over the forums online. It all seems to be 2017-2018 models from what I gather it’s the ABS module or ABS Hydraulic control unit. Not only is it annoying to hve the constant beeping on a truck with only 39k miles, it’s also highly dangerous to have to drive around with faulty brakes!!!! Please look into this I know it one of thousands of complaints regarding this same exact issue.
I brought my 2018 Ram 2500 to the dealership for the ABS light. I was told i needed to replace the ABS HCU and the ABS module and that old of the parts is not available to order until June 2024 Maybe. I am unable to get the truck inspected do to this issue.
Hello, my ABS system on the vehicle has failed with only 27,000 miles on this vehicle. Error code C0020-01 Warning system sounds every 5 seconds. It’s very distracting while driving and dealer ship for repair is 2 and a half hours away. No way to disable alarm.
The ABS and HCU modules have failed multiple times now. This leads to a loss of braking power and notifications of service braking system, a loss of traction control, and poor braking performance. The dealership is currently replacing the parts for the second time. The vehicle only has 37,000 miles and the ABS module has only worked for half of that. When the ABS module begins to fail, braking becomes more difficult, cruise control stops working, and the traction control system does not work. This leads to dangerous driving conditions in rain and on wet roads and I will not allow my family to ride with me if the system begins alerting due to the risks of crashing.
ABS & Traction control lights turns off & on. Thus deactivating & activating traction control.
ABS light turning On & Off randomly causing my traction control to turn off. I’ve read on other ram forms that it caused people to get into accidents or loose complete control of their vehicle. It’s getting out of hand.
ABS module system has been replaced twice .. needs to be replaced again per Dodge tech. No parts available. Unsafe to drive vehicle with no power brakes This is not unique to my truck. various individuals having same problem with same model Electrical Instrument cluster with display has been replaced and currently working.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the ABS and the service electric braking system warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that the ABS hydraulic control unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage 36,600.
ABS control Module 68347098AB Electronic stability control unit- abs module 68143491AB Truck only has 78k miles on it and these have failed. after doing research it is a common problem in these trucks but have not been recalled. This is a $1,200 fix and the part is on back order for months due to the issue of it failing.
The truck last year started flashing the ABS and traction control lights. On the screen it says I have to service my braking system. As soon as that warning comes on, I lose traction control and it’s awful to dry in snowy or wet conditions. The truck just hit 28 thousand miles. I contacted the Ram dealership and they are aware of the issue but stated there is no recall so they’re not addressing the issue.
2018 RAM 2500 - JULY 2022 - TRUCK MILEAGE @ 48000 MILES THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING WITH AN ALERT TONE BEGAN GOING ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO DODGE DEALERSHIP TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THE "ABS MODULE" WAS MALFUNCTIONING. I WAS GIVEN A PRICE FOR THE REPAIR AND WHEN I ASKED THEM TO PROCEED, I WAS TOLD THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE ANY WHERE IN NORTH AMERICA. I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD HAVE REPLACEMENT IN DECEMBER 2022. I CHECKED BACK IN JANUARY 2023 AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE MID-MARCH 2023 BEFORE THEY WOULD ARRIVE. I CHECKED THE FIRST OF APRIL 2023 AND NOW AM BEING TOLD NONE ARE EXPECTED UNTIL AUGUST 2023. SO IT WILL BE OVER A YEAR BEFORE I CAN GET THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND TRACTION CONTROL WORKING PROPERLY ON THE 3/4 TON TRUCK. WHILE I CAN DRIVE IT, IT IS NOT NEARLY AS SAFE WITHOUT THESE KEY SAFETY FEATURES NOT WORKING OR WORKING ONLY INTERMITTENTLY. THERE IS ALSO THE CONSTANT SOUND OF THE ALERT TONE AS THE SYSTEM CYCLES ALMOST NON-STOP BETWEEN WORKING AND NOT WORKING. IT DOES NOT SEEM THAT DODGE/RAM IS TAKING THIS SAFETY CONCERN SERIOUSLY AND HAVE OFFERED NO SOLUTIONS TO RESOLVE THIS KNOWN ISSUE. THANK YOU!
2 nd Time I have had antilock brake system failure. I have driven 11920 miles in 18 months since the last failure. This could be catastrophic should I be towing 10000 lbs of tractor and farming implements
ABS, traction control, cruise control, 4WD works intermittently ABS and traction control warning flash, wile ABS light is on you can not use traction control ABS system does not engage and cruise control is inoperable. Seen by dealer (benson CDJR) in April and June of 2023 and parts to repair were NOT available. Being seen again as new part is currently available to be repaired 4/6/24. After 1 year of not being able to find a solution for the problem. I have slid on sharp turns, got stuck wile pulling camper due to no 4wd among other issues. Contacted RAM regarding replacement assistance and they denied due to after market warranty. I am still responsible for 250$ for a repair that should have been a recall for Sevier safety concerns by RAM
Faulty abs control module and hydraulic control unit
ABS hydraulic control unit failure. Took the car to dealer to resolve issue 6 months ago and was told part would not be available till august, come august called again to check status on part and have now been told it won't be available till February. Abs does not function, cruise control does not function, Warning message and annoying chime appear on dash every 30 seconds while driving saying abs failure/ebs failure. Vehicle is unsafe to drive and no fix has been made, I will have been without the vehicle for about a year come February, absolutely ridiculous
ABS module and traction control starting going off while driving. I took the car to the dealer but refused to fix it despite being under warranty at the time. The ABS and traction control lights go on/off suddenly and my cruise control shuts down and I loose ABS braking which is CRITICAL. this can cause an accident and I am not the only one with this issue. 2019+ Rams have already been recalled for the same issue. I need to get fixed ASAP, I HAVE CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME! Issue keeps getting worse and lights come on more and more frequent, so most of my driving is without proper brakes.
ABS system, electronic braking lights keep coming on and off. Truck has 38k miles, and computer is saying bad pump and module.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed and became firm. Additionally, the service electrical braking system warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle with an ABS hydraulic control unit electrical failure; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The part to do the repair was on backorder until August 16,2023. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
Check brakes light comes on and covers digital speedometer. Dealership doesn’t know when they can get pump to fix??? Am I to drive this truck with faulty brakes until them?
There has not been an accident. Hopefully it won't come to that! This needs to be addressed
Abs module and hcu failed. Unable to have abs. Ram does not have the pump and is redesigning it and won’t be available until aug 2023. I am driving without abs until then. The hcu pump was replaced less than 2 years ago.
The HCU and ABS modules are defetive. After calling several RAM dealerships, parts may not be available until August and they will not have enough parts for everyone. When the service light activates, the cruse control dangerously disengages. Annoyingly, the warning may ding 6 or 7 times and I lose the digital speedometer. I will not be able to register my vehicle as the inspection will fail. I do not know if it is safe to drive. I pull a 5th wheel approximately 6 times per year.
Vehicle has 62953 miles. Ram service dept says the vehicle needs new engine, pcm, hydro boost assembly, hydraulic control unit, shifter assembly. They repaired the drag link in 2019. This did not solve issue. The tires were being worn rapidly. Ram said they would replace the drag link. Vehicle is drivable but not safe.
The HCU and ABS modules are defetive. After calling several RAM dealerships, parts may not be available until August and they will not have enough parts for everyone.I do not know if it is safe to drive. WILL THERE BE A RECALL?
The HCU and ABS modules are defetive. This has been a safety issue as the ABS system is inoperable. The parts are finally available. However, it will cost $2000.00 for repairs since the vehicle is out of warranty. Should this not be a recall?
I had an intermittent abs/traction control light that now stays on 90% of the time. Code C0020-01 for ABS general electrical failure.
1 abs warning light and buzzer come on every 2 mile which is a distraction 2 if warning does stay off for 5 miles and speed control is set will work but when warning goes off speed control kicks off causing traffic flow problems almost got hit from rear got honked at and finger 3 been waiting for over a year for part dealer says it is not available 4 called dodge ram phone number for complaints got nowhere
Radio screen delamination. Causing ghost touch screen constantly changing radio, settings, calling people, messing with vehicle settings. Connection to OnStar service when not needed and then not able to control the radio to make changes. 100% dangerous and unsafe. Talked to 3 dealership and was told nothing in warrant or recalls but it's a known issue your with pay 100% cost or live with it..
Warning lights for "Service Electronic Braking System" and "Service Antilock Brake System" appeared sporadically for 3 days, then remained lit continuously. RAM dealer service advisor said it's diagnosed as a failure of the Hydraulic Control Unit. They also advised that the part is on back order and not expected to be available until August 2023, that the truck should not be driven and that I could try contacting Chrysler for more definitive information. I did contact Chrysler, who assigned a "case number" for future reference and invited me to call back in a week if I had not heard from a case manager. I noted that this is an issue of interest to NTSB and am reporting in hopes that you can apply pressure for remuneration for the loss of use and expedite resolution. Chrysler is not much affected but my family is without an essential vehicle and faces significant expense to accomodate this "known defect."
ABS warning light comes on frequently. It was diagnosed as a faulty ABS pump motor by a Dodge dealership on March 31, 2023. I was told then that the replacement part would not be available till August 2023. I called in August and was told that it would not be available till February 2024. I called in February and was told it’s not available till June 2024. The Dodge dealership parts manager told me they have 11 trucks with the same problem they are trying to service. So far we have spent over $700 in diagnosing and trying to get the problem fixed.
