Abs And Traction Control Light comes on and Chimes go off. you lose ABS and Traction Control and Cruse control , This is a know issue with 2018 Ram 2500 . Parts are hard to come by and are very expensive to repair , This safety concern and should be a Ram Recall . I have not taken it to the dealer yet but since it is out of warranty by time , I cant afford the high cost of the repair
I have had the ABS hydraulic module replaced several times by Firkins Automotive, now with the same Faulty Hydraulic module failing once again. The dealer had told me after the 2nd time this was replaced it was “junk” parts and there was no permanent repair. When this goes bad you lose all ABS function and traction control causing braking to be unstable and truck to have no traction control. On the dash is the ABS light, traction light and BRAKE light illuminated all the time with warning chimes.
Abs light and ebs lights come on randomly. Some days the two lights continuously come on for the entire trip, some days the lights don't come on at all.
HCU is bad, per dealership. Can NOT order part because of backorder on said part. Light will go on and off.
Truck has disabled ABS braking due to failure. Shows no code on ABS module. Will not let cruise or ABS work and Constantly beeping at driver.
The ABS/HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) failed again. This will be the 3rd HCU installed in my vehicle. The previous repair was completed 10 days ago. I have an open case with Stellantis, since the parts are on extreme backorder (3+ Months). My safety is at risk, because when this component fails, it directly impacts the ABS Brakes, Traction Control, Cruise Control, Parking Assistance, etc. The dealer has confirmed the issue. I am unsure what diagnostics the dealer has performed on the failed part. There are multiple warning lamps associate with BRAKE, ABS, Traction Control, Cruise Control, Parking Assist, Service Electronic Breaking System, etc.
Warning messages: Service Antilock Brake System and Service Electronic Braking System. Started at 36,400 miles coming on intermittently then shortly thereafter constantly. Had to remove a fuse to stop consistent chiming noise. Use the engine brake now as the regular brake alone seems sluggish. We no longer have cruise control and it effects the MPG using the engine brake.
When driving our 2018 RAM 2500 diesel pickup the message on the dash instrument panel intermittently flashes the message "Service Electronic Brake System." then the ABS and traction control symbols light up on the dash. The RAM dealer diagnosed the problem to the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) and said it needs to be replaced. The dealer also said until this is fixed the trailer electronic brakes, truck ABS, traction control and cruise control will not work. Please see the RAM dealer attached diagnosis. The dealer also said they can't order the part until 8/16/2023, the part is currently back ordered because so may RAM pickups have the same problem. So I have a very expensive truck that I can't safely use for what I bought it for, to haul a heavy trailer that has electronic brakes controlled by the vehicle.
My ABS light came on and then shortly later I noticed that my stability control system was disabled and its warning light came on. I also lost the ability to use my cruise control. Took vehicle to the dealer and they determined that the ABS Control unit needed to be replaced. They trouble shot the issue and replaced the ABS Hydraulic Control unit. This repair is for the same recall as 85B for Ram 1500's.
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE ABS/HCU UNITS. THE WARNING COMES ON EVERY BUMP AND THE ABS SAYS IT IS NOT WORKING I HAD IT SERVICED LAST WEEK 4/18/2023 AND DIAGNOSED AS THE ABS/HCU NEEDS REPLACED AND WAS ORDERED. UNFORTUNATLEY THIS IS ON BO UNTIL 8/16/2023. I UNDERTAND THE 2019'S HAD A RECALL BUT MY 2018 DOES NOT?
Following a Uconnect update in March 2023 the vehicle exhibited the following errors: rear parking sensors failed, ABS brake failure, cruise control failure. ABS module was replaced 5/5/23 at cost to me of $529.86 by RAM dealer. Per dealer, ABS system will not function as ABS motor (HCU) must also be replaced and is not available pending "engineering review" in late August. Vehicle is like new with 23,000 miles on it. The vehicle is no longer operating as designed by Dodge RAM causing risk to me and others. This is a known issue to the manufacturer and they have failed to issue a recall and correct the problem on this vehicle.
Service Electronic Breaking System Light came on March 25, 2023. took truck to Ram dealership March 30th and was told the ABS Pump is going out so breaks won’t work correctly if I have to stop quickly. The replacement won’t be available until August 2023. Called another Ram dealership and was told it’s an engineering problem they are working on. Either way it’s a problem having a truck I can’t safely drive for 5 months due to the breaks not functioning properly. This should be a recall, my truck has 62,000 miles on it. It is going to cost $1360.00 to fix it in August.
My father and I were in a collision we were struck head on by another car at a estimated 45-50 mph and not one single air bag deployed and cause my farther to seek medical attention.
HCU antilock traction control unit, warning lights on.
my vehicle and hundreds of other owners are having bad HCU/ABS units that turn OFF the ABS and traction control on our ram 2500's.
The ABS and Traction Control lights constantly blink on and off while driving, causing cruise control to shut off and an audible ding inside the cab, every time the lights flash. I am concerned that since the ABS module is malfunctioning, that the brakes may lock up or not engage when they are supposed to, and I will not have anti lock feature if I happen to need it. Aside from the annoyance of the dinging constantly, and the cruise control disengaging, I feel this is or will become a serious hazard. I have read that RAM has had several ABS related issues, and I don't understand why this is not recalled yet.
Electronic Braking system continues to fail. No ABS or traction control when towing trailer or RV.
Truck throws ABS and Traction control warning codes intermittently and when hitting bumps. On a six hour trip today it threw the codes 50-60 times. Worried this could cause serious accidents if features do not work as they should.
Abs braking system has been flashing and traction control light flashing. My left front wheel started grinding and smoking out of the blue when driving today. No problems with brakes before that. Cruise control doesn’t work. And four wheel drive service light is flashing again!! The four wheel drive sensor was replaced once already a couple years ago.
1) Brake Anti-Lock Control Unit (Three times. (9/17/19 (5000 miles), 11/12/21 (21,527 Miles), 3/20/23, 33,000 miles). 2) Traction Control fails, Anti-Lock Brake System fails, and Speed control if engaged kicks off! All which could lead to ineffective braking, loss of control and inadvertent speed control disengagement. 3) Yes. Cameron JCDR dealership, Cameron, Texas, Mac Haik JCDR dealership, Temple, Texas. 4) Not at this time. A case has been started through Ram. Case # 85736004 5) Yes. All messages appeared at various times prior to me getting the vehicle to the dealerships for maintenance.
2018 Ram 2500 6.7L Cummins. While driving, at any speed, “Service ABS” and/or “Service Electronic Braking System” flashes rapidly and intermittently on gauge cluster display. During this, the “Traction Control Fail” icon displays. Additionally, the cruise control will automatically disengage (creating a safety issue through increased risk of being rear ended while at highway speeds) and the warning chime activates constantly leading to distraction while driving. The truck is essentially undriveable. It is incumbent on the manufacturer to remedy this problem. It’s a shame I cannot use this truck more than a few miles at a time. How am I to stop with my family of 6 inside the truck, towing a 10,000 lbs trailer on a rainy day at interstate speeds without functioning ABS? This is a serious design flaw and I encourage NHTSA to continue their investigation into Ram’s process for remedy as soon as practical. Strongly recommend mandatory recall.
I keep getting an intermittent error code on my vehicle C0020 - ABS Pump Motor Control. General Electric Failure After doing some research on the internet it appears that there are a lot of 2017 & 2018 Ram 2500 owners with the same issue
The ABS system is malfunctioning due to bad abs modules that most 2017 and 2018 ram trucks had issues with. This is causing the truck to have no abs or traction control.
Continuously get “ Service Brake System “ and ABS light comes on, Traction Control, and Cruise controls go off. This problem happens constantly every time the truck is driven. Scanner reading shows code “C0020-01” ABS pump motor general electrical failure.
The ABS light goes on and the warning bell starts dinging. This is a safety problem as you don't know if the ABS is working or not. Dealers don't seem to think there is a problem with this. I looked online at [XXX] . And there are quite a few examples of this problem as well as what dealers are not doing. Going to this web site look for "2018 Ram, ABS and Traction Control lights. This seems like an ongoing problem that no one is looking into. One guy took his truck in, and they said they couldn't get parts to fix it for five months, but the truck was fine to drive. 11 blocks from the dealer he rear ended someone because the ABS was malfunctioning. Therefore, this is a safety problem and should be looked into by Ram and a recall issued for repairs. And when the ABS light is on you cannot use cruise control INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I bought a 2018 ram 2500 last year and ever since driving it off the lot the abs light constantly turns off and on and recently the abs modulator has completely failed at 115,000 miles. It affects the cruise control and braising ability of the vehicle and I cannot use the truck properly or safely due to the constant abs issues.
2018 Ram 2500 Diesel Antilock Braking System light Traction control light Park sensor warning 4 wheel drive unavailable light All issues are intermittent. Issue seems to be a reoccurring issue according to my research. Vehicle has not been inspected but has had codes scanned when the issue occurred. I feel with the brakes being at an intermittent state it puts myself and others on the roads at Rick if they were to stop working with no indication.
Abs light comes on turns off cruise and traction control, brakes becomes spongy and vehicle gets pushed through refle light bey trailer. Near miss accident.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed with the cruise control activated, the electronic brakes and ABS warning lights illuminated, causing the cruise control to deactivate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ABS module needed to be replaced; however, the replacement part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,877.
ABS warning light on dash. Took to dealer, confirmed pump defective. Service manager said part back ordered until August 15, 2023. No recall listed. Vehicle is RAM 2500, milage 11,500 approximately, 2018 model. Other components on truck will not operate as well.
Abs, traction control light comes on for service. Dealer diagnosed as faulty HCU antilock brake systems unit
My ABS light has been intermittently illuminating my dashboard since December. I took my truck to the dealer on 3/13/23 and it's still there. Per the dealer, it needs an ABS module and the Hydraulic Control Unit. I had already replaced the HCU over a year ago so thankfully it will be covered by the dealer, but the ABS module still needs to be replaced and was told that the HCU won't be available until August. Dodge needs to address this. Obviously, this is an ongoing issue and it's not safe to drive and puts myself, my family, and others in potential danger if the electric brakes aren't performing properly. Also, I was advised by the dealer that the ABS module going out has caused the HCU to go out and is an ongoing issue that they have been seeing with no known cause.
Have taken the vehicle into Dodge / Ram Dealership twice within 90 days and steering issue remains an issue. I have been charged over $2000 for replacement parts and labor to include a new Drag Link. Was driving on the highway on 12 March at 1430, when truck began to drift to the right almost striking another vehicle. Vehicle has been a local Dodge Dealership and they have left me leave 2x putting my family, other drivers and myself at risk.
Abs and traction control lights are illumated when towing a trailer it would turn off trailer breaks I have taken it to auto shops and they state its the abs module or hydraulic control unit. When normally driven abs will be intermittent and can pose a safety hazard.
I revered my truck up a slight incline in reverse in 4 wheel drive. After I stopped in reverse I removed my vehicle out of 4 wheel drive back into 2 wheel drive. I put the transmission in park and removed my key. I unloaded items from the back of the truck. During this period the truck began to move forward down the incline building up speed as it went. It struck a tree stump and came to rest there. No one was in the vehicle and I confirmed when I got in it was still in the parked position. It appears the vehicle never engaged the transmission to the parked position.
ABS and traction control failed causing me to lose control on an icy road. I was able to regain control without hitting anything or having an accident but now I get an intermittent ABS control module service warning. When this appears the antilock brakes, the cruise control and traction control do not work. Once the light goes off all systems return to normal operation. It is intermittent and unpredictable. Parts are on National back order, I do not think replacing all of these parts is the issue. As dealers like to do… they just replace the whole system without identifying what the issue is. I do not think I should have to pay for replacing parts that are working properly. FCA needs to recall all of these systems and replace them at their expense!
My 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 has a known faulty issue with the HCU/ABS (hydraulic control unit/Anti-Brake System). My ABS light continues to flash while driving. This problem is very well known with 2017-2018 RAM trucks. The local dealership stated that the part is on backorder till August. This will be $1,000.00 + fix from dealership. This has been an ongoing issue, not just myself but many RAM owners, that happens at various times. The issue occurs at various speeds, when I hit a bump, or when I hit the brakes. This issue needs to be resolved with Dodge Ram and a recall issued.
Abs and traction control light, warning comes on and off and says service system
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS warning light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000. The contact noted that the failure mileage was less than 24,000. The mechanic informed the contact that the ABS module and the hydraulic control unit need to be replaced but the parts are on back order. The vehicle has not been repaired.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN US 19/27. THE ROAD WAS WET AND A DEER RAN OUT IN FROUNT OF ME. WHEN I APPLIED BRAKES MY TIRES LOCKED UP AND I SKIDDED OF THE ROAD. MY ABS LIGHT STAYS ON AND EVERY TIME I TAKE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT FIXED THEY TELL ME THEY CAN NOT GET PARTS. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE I FIRST BOUGHT IT. AT FIRST IT WAS INTERMITTEN BUT NOW THE ABS LIGHT STAYS
The service ABS System light cycles on and off continuously going down the road. Upon calling the dealer it is a known issue and parts have been on nationawide back order for months with no resolution in sight until “at least August”. In the meantime consumers cannot use cruise control nor will the electronic braking system work for a pull behind trailer. Not having the ABS function properly is dangerous and Ram knows this is an issue but cannot keep up with the high demand associated with this issue.
My ABS and Traction Control fault lights came on in my dash. I was towing a camper that weighs approximately 10,000lbs. and the trailer brakes did not function while this fault is active. Without the operation of the trailer brakes this is a very dangerous situation to stop that much weight. Had the code checked. Code C0020-01 is what was displayed. While this code is aluminated the trailer brakes do not function.
ABS and traction control lights keep turning on and off. Truck currently has no ABS.
ABS HCU module was intermittent in 2020, replaced HCU Has been working fine till now. looks like I was sold the old part number. 2 years later it is throwing fault codes again. RAM has an updated part number now. This should be a recall and I shouldn't have to pay to have it replaced for the second time.
The Service Electronic Braking and Service Traction Control comes on intermittently while operating the vehicle. I have had it fixed once under warranty. It is not a safe vehicle to operate without traction control and abs.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at the dealer for maintenance, the dealer informed him that the "Service ABS" and "Service Electronic Braking System" messages were displayed. The dealer informed the contact that the hydraulic control unit and ABS module needed to be replaced; however, the parts for the repair were on backorder. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the messages were displayed intermittently, and caused the Adaptive Cruise Control mode to deactivate. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.
Anti-Lock Brake System Failure The following dates for the repairs are as follows: December 05, 2019 1440 miles 5 days out of service April 19, 2021 12662 miles 4 days out of service March 06, 2023 21405 miles 6 days out of service (part backordered/not repaired As of March 06, 2023, the repair of the Anti -Lock brake system on the above mentioned vehicle is at three times and over fifteen days out of service. I am the registered owner and purchased the vehicle from AutoNation Chrysler/Dodge/Ram dealership located at 136 01 Pines Blvd, Pembroke Pines, Fl 33027
Consistent and predictive Failure of Anti-lock brake control module (68143491-AA /68143491-AB) in 2018 Ram 2500/3500 Trucks. Nationwide shortage of OEM Replacement Parts leading dealers to hoard exclusively for customers for whom repairs are to be made. Extremely difficult to find a dealer willing to sell brake control module, if they have one in stock, to anyone. Instead, dealers recognize there is up to a 6 month waiting period for restocking and therefore taking advantage of those who chose to utilize independent mechanics. Dodge/Ram is acutely aware of shortage, as well as failure of part and has chosen to not warranty or conduct a voluntary recall. Every Ram mechanic and parts office I spoke with acknowledge EVERY 2018 Ram 2500/3500 will fail. The subject vehicle had under 31,000 miles. During failure, the vehicle loses its' anti-lock functions, traction control, defeats cruise control, dash continually lights up with error message 'SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKING SYSTEM' then 'SERVICE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM' while simultaneously and constantly generating an audible warning over and over again during the operation of the vehicle. Price gouging for part, if you can find a dealer that 1) has the part in stock, and 2) willing to sell the part can run between $180.26 - $525.02 (MSRP $262.00). Part is in use for year models 2012-2018. I personally paid $525.02 (and grateful a dealer sold the part to me over the objections of the parts manager), drove 4 hours to obtain, plus install.
ABS lights flashing on dash, intermittent at times, sometimes all the time. Deactivates cruise and traction control. Dangerous when hauling loads. Sudden loss of cruise almost caused an accident.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ABS hydraulic control unit needed to be replaced; however, the replacement part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they would assist in expediting the replacement part. The failure mileage was approximately 33,600.
