Intermittent ABS Service electronic braking system & service antilock brake system
Service ABS and electrical brake system failure lights come on randomly and repeatedly. This also disengages the cruise control when it happens. Sometimes the warning light stays on for a few minutes, other times it flashes on and off and dings each time. This is a very common issue for this year of Ram truck from people that I know and from the research I have done. At my previous employer, we had 2 other rams the same year with the same issue. The ABS system will not work with this problem - I was driving and my vehicle skid due to there not being ABS. I have tried on multiple occasions since my truck had about 85k miles on it to get this problem repair. The dealerships all told me they dont have the parts for a repair
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the ABS and traction control warning lights were illuminated, and the message "Service Electronic Hydraulic Control Unit" was displayed, with an audible sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the failure was related to the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
A warning light comes on that there is a failure with the anti lock brakes and electronic braking system. The cruise control will also fail to work. When the roads where wet the other day, i was sliding to avoid hitting deer that began crossing the road. It took longer to stop than it should have. I'm concerned that living in Michigan with the inclement weather, it may cause a accident that could have been avoided. The vehicle was checked by a mechanic who said the control was going out. The incident started some last summer (I only have 22,000 miles on my truck) but it is intermittent.
Abs and traction control flashes on and off intermediate. Took to dodge dealer in New Boston, TX. Needs new HCU but is on national back order. When this happens the cruise control doesn't work and wheels will lock up if I hit the brakes to hard to stop.
ABS & Traction Light flicker on & off randomly at no specific duraction. I cannot predict when lamps will come on, also cruise control is disabled when lamps light up. I understand this has been an on-going issue for Ram.
Antilock braking system has failed and the alarm continually goes on and off while going down the highway. The dealership has told me the parts to repair this issue are unavailable. This is the second time this occured. The first was at about 40,000 miles and now the second was at 80,000 miles. I have significant concerns with operating the vehicle with the system turning on and off but Ram has yet to provide a solution. Doing some research this appears to be a common problem that everyone with 2500 and 3500 Rams between 2012 and 2018 are experiencing.
ABS system and Cruise Control cut out on my truck constantly when I’m driving. My brakes have locked up while I was driving in the rain almost causing me to wreck. I’ve seen other people having issues with this and their HCU units in these year trucks. Ram refuses to help me.
The antilock braking system warning is on randomly and I have already replaced the electronic portion of this unit. I spent almost $1100. Now I am being told the hydraulic portion is bad and is unavailable because it has been sent back for redesign.
1. Anti-Lock Brake System Hydraulic Control Unit 2. Possible safety issue with no ABS available 3. Yes evidently the new part needed in "under engineering review". 4. Took truck to mechanic and confirmed the HCU unit 5. yes have warning messages that WILL NOT STOP CHIMING; Service Electronic Braking system; Service Anti-lock Brake System
Dodge had a recall on the drag link. Their remedy was to weld the jam nuts. This causes issues when you need to get an alignment. My truck currently needs an alignment and the steering wheel recentered and no shops are willing to complete it. This causes a huge safety risk while driving and pulling my trailer. The remedy should be for dodge to replace the part as they know it is faulty and unsafe. I would like them to replace the drag link with the new updated part and return my truck to a safe vehicle for my family and I to drive.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the traction control warning light and service ABS message was displayed. The contact also stated that there was an audible warning chime heard while warning lights remained illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
ABS system doesn't work. Was inspected by NAPA Pugh's Car Care Center. My safety is at risk because the brakes do not work correctly. Warning lights are on. Appeared March 2023.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS and traction control warning lights were illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that the ABS was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with ABS Module failure. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the parts were unavailable. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes Hydraulic); however, the part was unavailable for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the "Service ABS Electronic Braking System" message was displayed, and the vehicle would not immediately stop while depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, the cruise control failed to operate while the message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the ABS Hydraulic Brake Module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 2,000.
Message appeared on truck display while driving in a snowstorm, "Service Electronic Braking System". Loss of ABS/EBS control while navigating dangerous roads. Code C0020-01, ABS pump motor control is faulty.
ABS warning to service anti-lock brakes. Mechanical brakes continue to function. The ABS system continually warns and chimes about the electronic ABS system not working. The ABS fault code is C0020. A Chrysler/Ram dealer has attempted to repair it once.
Once during my warranty period on my truck I had a failure wit the electronic braking system and the dealership replaced the Hydraulic control unit. Two years later the same unit has failed again along with Anti-lock module. The replacement parts are are on backorder till August die to high demand related to failures on these units.
Ram has had many issues reported on this item. It has been a known issues yet Ram has not taken proper action to resolve this problem. Intermitted warning lights on dash, service electronic brake system.
Service lights for ABS and traction control systems constantly going on and off during vehicle use, these system failures disable cruise control systems. Truck is at dealer and they have said it needs new hydraulic control unit and ABS parts totaling over $2000 in parts alone, without an idea of when the parts will be available. This seems to be a common failure as I have read many posts of other Ram owners with the same issues.
ABS light goes on and off. ABS/BRAKE warning with Service Electronic Braking System alert, throws code C0020-01. Sometimes I can drive an hour with no issue then other times it the error will occur many times, on and off the whole drive. Cruise control seems to stop as well. With ABS not failing at random times it's impossible to know if breaking it will be safe when needed. This issue has occurred multiple times (repeatable) and continues as of this report.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the ABS, traction control, and brake warning lights illuminated. There was an abnormal dinging noise heard. The contact removed the fuse. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the ABS control module and electronic module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.
Having problems with my ABS Module antilock brakes system, took my truck to Dealership , and there respond was this part was in back order and no recall, its being 5 months .my issue is for the Safety of my Family and myself on the Road,I dont want to have and accident and get somebody Hurt or worse, and my family Im very concern of Driving this truck every day. need MFG to correct this PROBLEM.
ABS / HCU System Failed. My safety was directly impacted. I was driving 70MPH on the expressway and had a SUDDEN deceleration, which nearly caused a rear-impact collision. Various warnings and lights on the dash lit up with "Service Electronic Braking System". When the ABS / HCU system has an issue, it deactivates the cruise control, ABS System, traction control, and parking detection system. The dealer is able to verify the issue. I have taken the truck to the dealer, who is reporting a part shortage and multi-month backorder for the part. This is a huge safety issue, and could have killed me and my children. This should become an immediate recall since it directly impacts the safety features of the vehicle as well as the cruise control system, which may suddenly deactivate and cause sudden deceleration. Various warning lamps display. BRAKE, ABS, Traction CONTROL.
Antilock Braking system warning flashes on and off constantly. Diagnosed as HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit). DTC code is C0020-01 Researched and found RAM TSB S2005000004. Also found that MANY of these have failed. Not only that, but my dealer cannot even order a replacement part until late June 2023 and it is March 4th, 2023 now. Then, when it is ordered, may still take another 3-5 weeks to receive. My point is. This needs to be treated as a recall. Obviously there are major issues with this component, so much so, that you can't even buy one to replace the failed component. In the mean time, I have vehicle without ABS braking.
ABS Code C0020-01
ABS and Tracton control
My Vehicle along with thousands (maybe hundreds of thousands as I have been looking on internet ) has antilock brake warning buzzer on that will not go off and I only have 25000 miles on it. It is out of warranty with Ram but I know this should be fixed as I am Leary to drive a vehicle with a brake warning light and warning buzzer constantly going off while driving. If the brakes fail these trucks could kill someone or kill the driver when they cannot stop.
ABS and traction control blink off and on and the cruise control doesn’t set. I was told by the dealership that they cannot keep the ABS control module in stock because they are constantly changing them out. This issue really needs to be addressed because it is a very important safety issue when the ABS system doesn’t work properly.
I started getting a "service electronic braking system" message in the EVIC intermittently
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated the antilock brake system light was on and it chimed. The contact stated the chiming was distracting and the contact was unaware if the brake system was functioning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was informed the part to repair was on backorder for 6 months. The contact returned to the dealer and the part was on back order for another 4 months. The contact stated the part had been back ordered for a timeframe of 13 months. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.
Abs lights on traction control lights on constantly off and on alarming. Making it un drivable Was told it's very common issue currently being investigated by nhtsa. Dealership confirmed HCU Pump control module. Costing me quoted $1750 for repairs and unknown when part comes in. Earliest is end of March. All the forums and videos I've seen that this is constantly happening and this needs to be recalled. I believe it already has on the 2019-2022 models. Safety concern with no abs or traction control. Also cruise control won't work.
The service brake system and service antilock brake system light came on. This light comes on quite often and shuts off intermittently. The pick-up no-longer has anti-lock brakes, traction control, or stability control. When light is on cruise will not work which if it set and light comes on it will shut-off and cause vehicle to drop speed which could cause an accident. Last time I drove it it felt like the brakes were spongy or not really engaging, which almost cause me to go through stop sign on to a highway. I have not had a chance to take it in to get checked yet, and the parts to repair I believe are back ordered.
Warning Lights for "Service Electronic Braking System" and "Service Antilock Brake System" come on and off indicating repairs to module necssary; however, Ram/Dodge can't schedule repairs for over a year in most locations. This is an ongoing problem and it appears to be affecting thousands of owners of Ram pickups. The code is C0020-001. The ABS/Traction control light comes on - a message to service the Anti-Lock braking system comes on - and the cruise control does not work. This happens intermittently sometimes several times in a minute, sometimes it's several times a day and sometimes it will stop for 2 or 3 days without the warning lights coming on at all. It's very frustrating and unnerving as the cruise control just drops out while you're driving which is not safe. The ABS also does not function with this issue. This issue needs to be addressed. Additionally Ram/Dodge dealers indicate this is a well known problem and that there are parts shortages for this repair due to the amount of Ram pickups having this issue, the parts are in short supply with everyone needing to make this repair. Please require Ram issue a recall. This is not safe.
Multiple reports from 6.7 Ram Cummins owners experiencing the failure of the grid heater. The grid heater failure leads to the destruction of the engine. Ram uses a grid heater to warm up the vehicle during cold temperatures for starting. During this process, it has been reported, that the not of the grid heater melts off and enters the engine causing catastrophic damage.
ABS & Traction light flickers and stays on. Brakes have pulsed. This is very dangerous for my family and myself. Ram wants to charge me $$ for a manufacturing defect that they are all to aware of. This not fare.
ABS SERVICE BRAKE MESSAGE APPEARS AND CLEARS. THIS LAST 20 MILE TRIP IT WENT OFF OVER 20 TIMES.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle had failed to start up after multiple attempts. The contact also discovered that the gear shifter would move while the engine was turned off and without depressing the brake pedal. The contact discovered that the brake transmission shift interlock was defective. The vehicle was initially towed to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that he did not have the capability to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer where the part was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
The abs and traction control lights stay illuminated on dash. No abs, traction control, or cruise control. Abs module looks to be the problem
Hi, The ABS System shows Service Antilock Brake System at the display, It comes and go so I assume that it is an intermittent issue, it does stays for hours or days and go on ad off during the whole drive, definitely is an issue. It allow the brakes to preventing locket when brake on certain circumstances. Had an issue on a wet pavement and have to handle to avoid crash with other vehicle cause the tires got locket and the truck slipped on the pavement for a considerable amount of feet's. Dealer inspected and replaced the module under warranty when I bought the truck and told me that it has to be replaced again.
The vehicle continues to have ABS control module/electronic braking failures. I was told by the dealer no replacement modules are available, and could be back ordered for up to 6 months. Research online indicates this is a very common problem. This is a clear safety hazard. A recall needs to be issued for these failing parts. I had these parts replaced one year ago and they already have failed again.
ABS Traction control turns on and off as truck is driven. Sets code for ABS motor. Called dealer was told to drive until light stayed on.
The ABS system warning lights have come on and system not working, had it checked and was told it was the ABS controller assembly pump motor, code # C0020-01, and that it was a common problem with this vehicle. I was told i should report it.
Service electronic brakes, traction control, and service trailer brakes light stays on.
ABS SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON FOR THE SECOND TIME. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER THEY REPLACED A PART AND NOW ITS BACK ON AND OFF.
The HCU is went out and Mopar has a stop order on parts
2018 Dodge Ram 2500. I have been working with the dealer to have the ABS module repaired for over 6 months. All 2017 and 2018 2500 and 3500 are having issues with the ABS module not working properly. The dodge representative said there is not a fix and does not know when one will be available.
I have intermittent Service Electronic Braking System and Service Antilock Brake System warning light. It started about 1 year ago at about 72000 miles. The diagnostic tool lists a C002001 fault (ABS Pump Motor Control General Electrical Failure. When the fault is active, I have no Antilock Brake, no cruise control and no traction control. I have no taken the problem to the dealership due to initial cost of diagnostics that they charge. Parts and labor are not covered under warranty.
ABS/STABILITY fault happens constantly.
Code for right rear wheel speed sensor came on. Resulting in no abs, traction control, 4x4,or parking sensors. I bought new part from dealer had mechanic change it. Reflash abs and still on. Went off briefly for 5 seconds came back on. I've realized it's it's common problem. Resulting in the abs module needing replaced. But it's only a temporary fix.
