Hydraulic Control Unit & ABS Module. 2018 Ram 2500 4x4 Bought truck new, the HCU & ABS Module parts failed issuing constant alarms on dash. Parts were replaced in April 2021 under warranty with approximately 22,000 miles on truck. Now getting the same alarms again and dealer says the Hydraulic Control Unit has failed again. Truck only has 47,000 miles and are in need of replacement again. Looking this up online and there are tons of reports with the same issue on 2018 models. Brakes should be covered in a warranty or recall, IMO.
The HCM for the ABS system has failed at about 50K miles. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the HCM for $850 and it worked for about 25 miles and the ABS light came on again. I took it back to the dealer and they said it must be a bad module and they are on back order and would let me know when they get one. That was about 3 months ago and I still haven't heard from them. I know this has happened with a lot of other Rams and they need to have a recall for it. When it goes out the cruise control also stops working. If I have to make a sudden stop on a wet road, my brakes will lock, endangering myself and others.
abs brake failure the hcu fails causing warning to service abs problem first occurred 2 years ago had hcu replaced problem is back again these hcu units were defective from the get go ram knows units are defective this is a safety issue and needs to be resolved your help is needed on this safety issue.4/12/

The contact was then informed that the ABS control module needed to be replaced again. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a complaint was filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000.
Abs / traction lights come on and off intermittently for 2 years now since about 27k miles. It now stays on most of the time. While on, i have no cruise control. A Stare Farm approved repair facilty, Don Shetler Chevy, checked the codes when the lights came on more permanently in October 2022. They state it is the HCU that needs to be replaced. Now out of warranty.
The brake anti lock warning light comes on intermittently causing cruise control to be turned off.Yes it can be inspected.I feel this is a safety issue when driving at highway speeds.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the ABS and EBS warning light remained illuminated. During the failure the cruise control feature was inoperable, and the audible warning was activated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the ABS and EBS modules, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 30,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH and slowing for a traffic signal, the vehicle's four tires locked up due to the ABS system failure. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact's vehicle skidded into the rear end of another vehicle. The contact's grill and bumper were damaged and broken as well as the inter-cooler radiator had suffered damage. The other vehicle sustained a crushed trunk. There were no injuries sustained by either the contact or the driver of the other vehicle. The police were on the scene and filed a report. Both vehicles were drivable, the contact drove his vehicle to a body shop. The contact did not have the vehicle diagnosed or repaired for the ABS problem. The contact stated that since the accident the ABS light illuminates intermittently and the brakes have locked up when the contact had been towing a trailer (approximately 14,000 lbs. of weight). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
Abs control module and pump have failed
Ram 2500 began having problems in late-2021. The truck's warning lights indicated the ABS module, HCU module and cruise control failed.
I have a 2018 Ram 2500 with 68000 miles. Last year while driving the ABS and traction control light came on. The sensor will frequently trip and the code will come in and out intermittently. Upon research, it seems this is a known deficiency with this model. I called the dealership and while they agree it is a known issue, there is no recall so I will be forced to put out the money myself. With labor the cost would be over $1600. I am about to spend over $500 for a new Electronic and Hydraulic Control unit for the trucks ABS and just do the repair myself. Is there any relief at this point from the NHTSA? can we finally get a recall issued? I have seen over 212 complaints on this very website for this very topic. This is only the ones that have found this website and made a complaint. How many more dont know to do this?
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the electronic service system warning light illuminated, and the ABS, and traction control warning lights also illuminated, causing the traction and cruise control to fail. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with electronic braking module failure. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that after the repair the failure reoccurred. The dealer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that it was a known issue; however, no assistance was provided. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Antilock Brake System and Traction Control intermittent warnings while driving. Affects ability to use cruise control and Tow / Haul capability. If in tow/haul mod ABS warning flashes will also get Check Engine Light warning.
My Ram has about 31,000 and about 5,000 miles ago it kept randomly giving me a message to service the abs system and traction control message. I took it to the dealership and they informed me that it's a common occurrence for my model truck and they replaced the abs module with the same part number and said they're working on a revised part to replace it. They told me that the abs is not working all the time because faulty part which seems like a safety issue. I did some research online and a lot people are having the same issue and are waiting for the new part which is said to be available sometime next year but we will most likely be forced to pay for the new part and labor. Hopefully you will be able to get them to do a recall for this issue. Thanks
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle was difficult to shift into gear. The traction control warning light was illuminated, and the message to shift into 4WD was displayed. Additionally, the brake light was illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The local dealer was contacted, and the vehicle was diagnosed. The contact was informed of hydraulic pump failure, control 68143-part 491AA, control panel 08035030, module 08035030, brake fluid, ABS module, and a HECU internal failure. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The dealer informed that the contact parts for the recall repair were not available. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.
This truck has had two major REAR-END repairs. After the last one it vibrates. Several sets of tires and even a new set of rims and it still vibrates. NONE of the dealers can locate anything.I took it to a shop that has vibration detection equipment. Their results show the issue is in the rear end. I get no resolution or help in resolving the issue. I have been out a lot of money on this truck due to odd break downs and issues that Ram refuses to acknowledge. I am beyond sick of this. I paid a lot of money for this junk.
THE DRAG LINK ON ABOUT 795,000 OF THE ABOVE VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT WITH AN OUTBOARD STEERING LINKAGE JAM NUT THAT COULD LOOSEN ALLOWING ONE END OF THE DRAG LINK TO SEPARATE FROM THE ADJUSTER SLEEVE. A DRAG LINK SEPARATION CAN RESULT IN A LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL STEERING CONTROL, WHICH CAN CAUSE A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the ABS hydraulic warning light was illuminated, and an alarm had sounded. The contact looked online and found the Mopar website and found that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) and the vehicle was repaired. The contact called Mopar to inquire about the remedy being completed and the failure that was experienced. The contact stated that Mopar confirmed that the recall repair had been completed; however, the date listed was before the recall had been issued. Mopar was unable to produce the paperwork to prove completion and refused to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the hydraulic control unit had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired due to a shortage of parts availability. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the Service Emergency Braking System message was displayed. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the ABS pump. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the ABS pump. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not assist. The failure mileage was 23,000.
WHEN I AM DRIVING I WILL RANDOMLY GET A WARNING "SERVICE AIRBAG SYSTEM" AND THEN IT WILL TURN OFF RANDOMLY. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH AND SPEAKING TO A DEALERSHIP THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE WIRING UNDER THE SEAT. THE DEALER DIDN'T KNOW IF THE AIRBAGS WOULD STILL WORK WHEN THE WARNING WAS PRESENT.
TRUCK SLIDES AFTER BEING PARKED . IT HAS SLID ANYWHERE FROM 1 FOOT WHILE I STOOD THERE WATCHING. TO SEVERAL FEET WHERE I HAD TO JUMP BACK INTO THE TRUCK TO STOP IT. AND OVER 14 ONE NIGHT FROM THE TIME I PARKED TO WHEN I CAME OUT THE NEXT MORNING. DOES NOT FULLY ACCELERATE THRU A TURN.,TOUGH TO TURNS SOMETIMES. IN SAME TURNS
ABS Hydraulic Control Unit and Electronic Control Unit Failure. ABS MIL and Traction MIL began turning ON and OFF intermittently during daily driving, sometimes turning ON and OFF over 50 times during a 20-mile drive. Lights up the dash and sounds a beep to inform the driver, while displaying a message on the dashboard screen. Again, this occurs every time the alarm activates. No dealership was able to get me in for an appointment when the issue first began. Took into the dealership today for diagnosis. The technician immediately knew the problem when I said the ABS light was blinking randomly and noted that he has seen this with all 2018 RAM 2500s. The first safety issue is regarding the loss of situational awareness while driving caused by distracting alarm systems. The second safety issue is that ABS WILL NOT work if the alarm is active, effectively setting up the driver to be placed into a dangerous situation during inclement weather conditions where ABS might mean life or death during a hard braking situation. The ABS system is only covered under a basic warranty with Dodge (3yr or 36K). The ABS system failed around 36K, but due to dealership waitlists, I was not able to be seen until 41K. The cost for total ABS HCU and control unit replacement is around $1500.
Vehicles “service antilock breaks” code is flashing. Began doing this with under 15,000 miles. The cruise control and the anti lock breaks don’t operate as a result. Problem started as intermittent and is now a constant issue. It appears to be the hydraulic break control unit, and is a very common issue with this year of truck.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and while driving, a constant warning chime sounded, accompanied by illuminated ABS and another unknown warning light. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the vehicle was not able to be repaired due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
SPORADICALLY VEHICLE WILL NOT START. DASHBOARD LIGHTS FLASHING, DISPLAY TOGGLES THROUGH WARNINGS, IDLE NEEDLE AND SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE MOVING WHILE PARKED, VEHICLE NOT ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. LOCAL DODGE DEALER IS CURRENTLY ON 3RD VISIT TO REPAIR.
My 2018 ram 2500 started having the service the electronic brake system or service antilock braking system, it also showed traction warning light on instrument cluster message come at about 45,000miles it came on every time I’d hit a bump in the road sometimes it would stay on for days on end and not go out other times it would come on every few seconds and back off as quick as it came on, I got a hold of the dealer I bought truck from and scheduled an appointment, at 50,281 miles my truck was diagnosed at a charge of 112.58 and was told that “ abs pump motor needs replacing and replacement part not available at this time”, I asked if this is a new issue and if they seen it before to be told” there was also a lot of other rams coming in with this same issue” . After this discussion my eta for the part was December 18 of 2022 heard nothing so reached out to the dealer on December 23 of 2022 only to be told that it would be in January 18th of 2023,on January 18th called the dealership only to be told it will now be in on March 18th of 2023,this issue is not getting resolved and every time this warning comes on it shuts off the cruise control, traction control and the ABS which in my opinion is something I could really use in the Wisconsin winters,I’m really hopeful that you will remedy this situation this is a serious safety issue and in my opinion an accident waiting to happen if it hasn’t already
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving over bumps in the road, the audible warning alarm erroneously activated, along with messages displayed for the ABS, Traction Control, and Emergency Braking System. Additionally, during the failure, the cruise control became inoperable. The contact had received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); however, the part to complete the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not available for the specific VIN, but the part was available for other years, makes, and models included in the recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not contacted regarding the issue. The failure mileage was 18,000.
The ABS Anti-Lock Sensors keep failing on this vehicle.
I PURCHASED THE TRUCKS USED FROM A DEALERSHIP RICK HENDRICK IN FAYETTEVILLE, NC. IN MARCH OF 2019. IT ONLY HAD 20,000 MILES ON IT. ISSUE ONE WAS THEY SOLD IT TO ME WITH PARTS THAT VOID WARRANTY PER CHRYSLER AND THIS WAS NOT DISCLOSED UP FRONT. MAIN PROBLEM I HAD TO THREATEN TO SUE IN ORDER TO GET MONEY BACK TO GET TIRES WITH THE CORRECT CLASS RATING AS I COULD NOT TOW WITH IT. NEXT ISSUE WAS THEY WOULD NOT WARRANTY BAD WHEEL BEARING OR BREAKS AT 37000 MILES WHICH PER THEM WAS DUE TO A LIFT KIT. THERE IS NO LIFT KIT ON THE TRUCK BUT SOMEONE INSTALL A LEVELING KIT. DODGE ALSO PERFORMED A WARRANTY RECALL ON THE TRUCK AFTER IT WAS PURCHASE WHICH IS THE D TRUCK DRAG LINK. IT HAS SINCE COME UNDONE AND THERE IS NO CORRECT FIX FOR THIS OR SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. NO ONE ELSE WILL TOUCH THE ISSUE OR RESOLVE IT WHEN CHECKING ALIGNMENT. NOW MY STEERING WHEEL IS WAY OFF BY ROUGHLY 30 DEGREE FROM CENTER AND THE TRUCK IS HARD TO DRIVE ON HIGHWAY. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO HAVE DODGE REDO THIS WORK AND NOW THEY REFUSE TO DO IT AND WANT ME TO GO FOR A WEEK WITHOUT MY TRUCK WHICH I CAN NOT DO WHILE THEY INVESTIGATE AND FIGURE OUR WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE. CURRENTLY THEY ARE NOT OFFERING ME ANOTHER VEHICLE TO DRIVE. I'VE TAKEN THE TRUCK TO OTHER AUTO REPAIR PLACE AND NO ONE WILL WORK ON THIS DUE TO RECALL. DODGE HAS TO DO THIS AND MAKE IT RIGHT ITS NOT MY FAULT AND THE TRUCK IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE BUT I HAVE NO CHOICE AS I HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO DRIVE FOR WORK. IN SHORT THE STEERING IS VERY LOSE AND IF THIS D LINK COMES ANY LOSER IT COULD CAUSE THE TRUCK TO CRASH AND ME TO LOSE CONTROL WITH OUT ME DOING ANYTHING BUT DRIVING NORMAL ON HIGHWAY. PLEASE HELP WHAT CHRYSLER AND DODGE ARE DOING TO BE IS WRONG. I JUST WANT MY TRUCK TO WORK RIGHT ITS ONLY A 2018 AND I HAVE PAID GOOD MONEY FOR EVERYTHING TO GET CORRECT AND IT STILL IS NOT. YOU CAN PULL EVERYTHING ON TRUCK IN CAR FACT REPORTS.
My original ABS HCU pump has been replaced 2 times, and now 11 months later it needs a 3rd one. First one went at 60K, second one 93K, 3rd one at 120K and now I do not have ABS, Traction control or cruise control.
First time brake system hydraulic control unit failed was at 17,000 miles, now have 76,000 and it has failed again. Abs system notification goes off and on constantly. Turbo actuator has failed at 76,000 miles. Check engine light and associated ecu codes are flashing. Rear view camera on tailgate goes out intermittently.
ABS MODULE AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT ON A 2018 RAM 2500,HAVE REPLACED IT TWICE,ITS OUT AGAIN ,AND OUT OF WARRANTY.52K
THE TOUCH SCREEN ON THE CENTRAL CONTROL COMPUTER/ENTERTAINMENT/CELL PHONE SYSTEM HAS DELAMINATES AND RANDOMLY SELF SELECTS BUTTONS. ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION THE DISTRACTION OF CANCELLING PHONE CALLS AT ALL HOURS, ACTIVATION OF BACK UP CAMERAS AND SIGNALS THAT TELL THE VEHICLE TO DO WIERD THINGS NEGATIVELY IMPACT OF DRIVERS ATTENTION AND FUNCTION' THERE ARE LAWS ABOUT DISTRACT4D DRIVING AND THIS IS A MAJOR DISTRACTION. I HAVE TRIED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY ARE UN RESPONSIVE. LOOKING AT THE VIDEOS ON HOW TO RE-LACE THE TOUCH SCREEN DUE TO MANUFACTURER REQUESTING OVER $1500 TO REPLACE BASED ON FALSE CLAIMS OF BROKEN/CRACKED GLASS IN THE SCREEN. WHEN THE REAL ISSUE IS THE TOUCH SCREEN MANUFACTURER FAILED TO USE AN ADHESIVE THAT CAN WITHSTAND THE HEAT WITHIN THE CLOSED CABIN OF A STATIONARY VEHICLE.
I am reporting ongoing safety concerns with my 2018 RAM 2500 (6.7L Cummins) related to repeated emissions/aftertreatment failures and the lack of timely repair options. These failures directly affect drivability and can create hazardous situations if the vehicle enters derate mode while towing or driving at highway speeds. Over the past year, my truck has suffered multiple emissions-related component failures, including DEF dosing issues, SCR/DPF system faults, repeated warning messages, and the threat of speed-limiting derates. The vehicle is used for normal personal use, is well-maintained, and has not been modified. Despite proper maintenance, the same types of failures continue to recur. A major concern is that local RAM dealers have extremely limited ability to service these issues in a timely manner. Appointments are often weeks out, and when the truck is already in a failure state it is unsafe to continue driving. I have previously reported safety-related defects to NHTSA (ABS/HCU), and those issues later resulted in recalls—so I know that reporting matters. The combination of emissions failures, derate risks, and lack of dealer support creates a situation where the vehicle may suddenly lose power or become unsafe to operate, especially when towing or traveling in rural areas with limited service availability. I am requesting that NHTSA review whether there is a broader pattern of emissions-system failures on RAM heavy-duty trucks with the 6.7 Cummins and whether these failures pose a safety risk due to the forced-derate logic and inability to obtain timely repairs.
THERE IS A SERVICE THE ELECTRONIC BRAKING SYSTEM. THERE IS ONLY 13,900 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I HAVE SEEN FORUMS THAT THIS A MAJOR ISSUE THAT KEEPS HAPPENING.
SERVICE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM AND SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM INTERMITTENTLY DISPLAYED ON THE DASH ALONG WITH THE LAMPS ILLUMINATING. THIS OCCURED WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. AFTER RESEARCHING, THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THESE VEHICLES.
The contact called inquiring about a Law Enforcement vehicle (2018 RAM 2500). November 2020, vehicle shut down while traveling up a road. “Lost all PCM communication.” Instrument cluster was on, but vehicle would not start, multiple warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. Towed vehicle to Flower Motors (RAM) in Montrose, CO where it was diagnosed with needing a PCM replaced. The vehicle was repaired, however it continued to experience the same failure. July 2021 while the same Law Enforcement Officer was traveling at 30 mph in a 35-mph zone into a sharp right turn, the vehicle "lost all the PCM communication". The Law Enforcement Officer could not stop, due to no brakes and had a difficult time turning the vehicle. The Law Enforcement vehicle crossed the road into the oncoming lane of traffic and off the shoulder into Sagebrush. The Law Enforcement Officer was able to steer to the right and drove back onto the road and across both lanes of traffic, exiting off the road surface and into more Sagebrush. The Law Enforcement vehicle finally came to a stop. Multiple warning lights illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. The Law Enforcement Officer was not injured nor sought medical attention. No police report was filed. The Law Enforcement vehicle was not drivable and had to be towed Flower Motors (RAM) in Montrose, CO where it was diagnosed with needing the PCM replaced for a second time. The Law Enforcement vehicle was repaired, however, it continued to experience same failure. August/September 2021, the Law Enforcement vehicle again “lost all the PCM communication”. The Law Enforcement Officer was pulling up to a highway getting ready to merge onto the highway when the Law Enforcement vehicle shut down. The Law Enforcement vehicle was not drivable and was towed to Berthod Motors (RAM) in Glenwood Springs, CO where it was diagnosed with needing the PCM to be replaced for a third time. Multiple warning lights were illuminated. November 2021, the Law Enforcement vehicle was being driven approximately 10-15 mph on a road when the Law Enforcement vehicle shut down. As with the other three times, the instrument panel indicated multiple warning lights. The Law Enforcement vehicle would not start, was not drivable and had to be towed to Flower Motors in Montrose, CO where it was diagnosed with needing the PCM to be replaced. The manufacturer had been informed of the 4 failures. The failure mileage with less than 73,000 miles. Flower Motors (RAM) – 2580 N. Townsend Ave., Montrose, CO 81401 – (970) 249-9664. Berthod Motors (RAM) – 400 27th St., Glenwood Springs, CO 81601 – (970) 945-7466
We purchased our Ram 2018 /2500/4WD Mega 6'4'' Larami in 2019. I only had 7,853 miles on it. When we drove the truck to Tenn, the Abs and traction control lights kept coming on the display. This kept happening throughout the trip. On [XXX] we had returned and taken the truck to Dodge dealership for inspection. They performed diagnostics and found Abs motor internal failure, this was replaced, and the brakes were bleed. The code was: C0020-01. The truck was still on warranty. On [XXX], once again we had the antilock brake system / Elec braking system light came on the display. Verified concern found Abs code module internal at this time rec replace of Abs pump. (Direct wording on invoice). Truck still under warranty. In Dec 2023, we returned to Dodge dealer again for constant display of the Abs traction control lights flashing on and off. We started videoing this to prove the problem had NOT been fully fixed. We were told by the dealership that the HCU part was not available till spring or summer of the following year. By this time, the truck is no longer under warranty. This problem is not only annoying, but the issue of safety is foremost. We don't drive the truck in the rain for fear of losing traction. We have a boat that sits there because we are concerned about stopping the load. This seriously needs to be addressed by the manufacturer. I have read several accounts of other owner experiencing the very same issues. I don't want to have to pay out of pocket for a problem that had been documented and supposedly fixed two years ago. This needs a permanent solution. This truck was a large purchase for us, we are not using it to its fullest potential due to problem. The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500.The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the messages "Service Electronic Braking System” and “ABS" were displayed. The traction control and ABS warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that when the brake pedal was depressed on several occasions, the pedal remained on the floorboard. The vehicle was taken to a dealer DTC: C0020-01; was retrieved and the vehicle was diagnosed with ABS module failure. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced and the brake lines bled. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred two years later. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but the failure was not duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 19,445. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the central control system head unit malfunctioned and turned off. Additionally, the head unit would activate or deactivate other systems in the vehicle without driver input. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the central control system radio head unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.
Intermittent failure of the electronic braking system. Audible Warning tone and indication "Service Electronic Braking System" followed by "Service antilock braking system" experienced intermittently. The multiple warnings automatically disabled the antilock brakes, stability control, and cruise control as well as producing annoying audible tone. This failure originally began occurring in August 2020 and was taken to the local Ram dealer in September 2020 when it was diagnosed as a defective 68143491aa hydraulic control unit module. After a three week lead time, the module was replaced under warranty with 12116 miles on the vehicle and the problem disappeared. Two years later in July 2022, the same warnings began intermittently with the same disabling safety issues at 24000 miles. On 10/19/2022, the Ram dealer diagnosed the problem as "Abs Control Module 68143491aa Has Internal Short. Part Is On Backorder With No Eta". I have repeatedly checked on the status of the part with the Ram dealer resulting in the same "Backorder with No ETA" response. In November 2022, I filed a formal complaint with Ram Cares. They have provided the same response "Unplanned resource requirement resulting in supply disruption. No firm ETA to provide at this time. Working to improve". This failure is a safety issue, not just an inconvenience and annoyance. My Ram 2500 is periodically used to haul a 10000lb trailer. The sudden loss of cruise control, stability control , and antilock brakes could cause and accident resulting in property damage and injury or death.
Abs brake pump motor failure. Dealership has replaced with new parts and new parts have failed. Vehicle only has 20,000 miles on it. Not only is there no part’s available but manufacturers tells me I will have to pay the $1700 repairs.
