NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2016 Ram 3500. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
Took vehicle to dealership for repair of heater. Once the repair was complete the dealership called to say the heater was fixed but the airbag light is now on. Once doing more testing they called back to say my steering wheel airbag harness either shorted or was crushed during the heater repair The part is no longer available and no remedy was available. I just have to take my car back compromised I refused the vehicle back and requested management get involved.
I have a complaint that needs to be addressed. On Sept. 11 2025 I had a fire in the cab of my 2016 Ram 3500 truck while it was sitting in my drive way. It was not even running. The fire was not very big and it could have been repaired. So I called FCA and opened a case with them. They informed me that I needed to bring my truck into the closest dealership so that it could be inspected. So I then called and set up and appt for Sept. 12, 2025. I had my truck towed to the dealership and upon arrival my husband who took the truck was told to take it off the trailer. So they took it off the trailer. They informed me that a woman went to the truck, opened the door and stated “ well that’s a gonna be a total loss,” closed the door and had told them to move it to the fence line. She then stated that there was nothing that y’all could do for us and that it would cost me $350.00 to be diagnosed. At this time she already knew that I had an open case with FCA and that I was told to take it in. Upon walking to the truck when my husband opened the door and it had caught fire again. So he went and told some employees in the service dept and they ran out to the truck and disconnected the batteries. Then we were told that we needed to take it off the lot if we weren’t going to pay. So they reconnected the batteries and we put the truck back on the trailer and brought it home. The next day my truck was completely engulfed in flames along with my husbands welder which is used for our business. I called FCA back on Monday and spoke with my case manager/inspector and let them know about the two fires after the first and he stated he would be going to inspect the following day. He then asked if the truck was at the dealership and if the batteries had been disconnected by your employees. I stated no the truck is here at my home and the batteries were reconnected so that we could tow it out of the dealership since that’s what we were told to do. I have told the dealership and no response
On Sept. 11, 2025 my truck parked in my drive way. It was parked there all night. When I opened the doors to get in smoke and flames started coming out. The center console was on fire. The next day on Sept. 12, 2025 while at the dealership to have the truck inspected it caught fire again further burning the center console, the passenger seat and the roof. The dealership told us there is nothing they could do so we had to have the truck towed back to my home. Sunday night on Sept. 14,2025, I heard a loud pop noise and when I walked outside the entire cab of the truck was engulfed in flames. We had to call the fire department and they had to come put the fire out. Each of the incidences started spontaneously when the truck was just sitting parked.
The parking brake issue per recall was supposedly done based on information from safetycar. Vehicle can not be shut off unless in park. I'm assuming a safety feature. A few times when I attempted to shut off, even though clearly in park. Truck wouldn't do so. I shifted back into gear and then back into park with foot on brake as required. Unless I have a horse trailer hooked up, I usually don't engage parking brake if on relatively flat surface. Last week I came out to find my truck still in park had rolled forward and got caught on a large boulder before potentially rolling all the way down into a creek and pond. The boulder did do undercarriage damage mostly to brackets for bumper and spoiler. When I got in truck IT WAS STILL IN PARK. Truck started without me stepping on brake as required. Then after it started,I couldn't put it into gear. Was like shifter was locked. I tried to shut it off it wouldn't shutoff until I applied brake. I started it again with foot on brake and then I was able to shift into reverse and drive. Something is definitely wrong with the park on truck. It rolls forward now a few inches when parked and shut off in park. It will start sometimes without foot on brake and sometimes not. Since it rolled and hit rock steering feels weird. Prior to vehicle rolling and the bogus drag link fix, I have gone through tires because you can't do a full alignment. Dealership claims there's no new fix. They just won't do it right. Just like park brake issue it's not fixed right. Dealerships also claim they know nothing about a new issue and another fix. There are kids around horse farm truck coming out of gear, even though it said park, could have been a fatal accident. This truck has turned into a death trap waiting to happen and Stellantis and FCA won't acknowledge. I have to pay for a fix when it's their issue. THE 67A update has cost me over $12,000 already. THIS TRUCK SHOULD BE BOUGHT BACK BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. PARK BRAKE APPLIED ALWAYS.
Def pump failed, I had to have it replaced before it degraded my travel speed to 5 mph. After spending $250 to Dodge dealer in Oxnard Service department for them to tell me exactly what it said on the truck code DEF pump needed replacing, I decided I didn't want to spend an extra $1000 for the dealer to fix it ($3900 they wanted for this job). On 11/16/22, I paid ($2865.81) to a reputable diesel mechanic to replace the pump. I was denied the reimbursement that was promised in the recall information. I need help with this! I pay $1200/ month for truck and insurance, but Ram can't reimburse me for a recall I paid out of pocket for, as promised. ABSOLUTE CROOKS! I want help with this. I see there are multiple other complaints of the same issue! HELP!
I am writing to report an ongoing issue with my 2016 Ram 3500 (V6), related to Safety Recall V06 (NHTSA 19V-021) for the drag link, which was performed in 2020 before I purchased the vehicle two years ago. The recall "fix" involved welding the adjustable nuts on the steering linkage, rendering it non-adjustable. Since then, I have been unable to get a proper front-end alignment at any service shop. Multiple mechanics have refused to perform an alignment because the welded drag link cannot be adjusted, and they’ve stated it compromises the vehicle's steering integrity and tire wear. This is a significant safety concern. Without the ability to align the front end, the vehicle’s handling is affected, potentially leading to uneven tire wear, reduced control, or worse, a steering-related failure. I’ve contacted dealerships and Chrysler (FCA US LLC), but they insist the recall was completed and offer no further remedy, despite the fact that this weld does not allow for standard maintenance. New Ram 3500s off the assembly line come with adjustable drag links, not welded ones, which proves this was a poor fix for a safety issue. I urge the NHTSA to revisit this recall and require Chrysler to replace the defective drag link with a proper, adjustable component, rather than leaving owners like me with a substandard repair that hinders basic vehicle maintenance and safety. I purchased this truck in good faith, but this unresolved issue has made it a liability. Please investigate and address this matter before it leads to more serious consequences.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 3500. The contact stated that upon inspection, the tires showed excessive wear. The contact stated that the vehicle had been previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (STEERING); however, the recall repair failed to fix the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure persisted after the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
" The Hydraulic Control Unit Chrysler part number 68143491AA failed and been replaced multiply times on my vehicle. I have the current failed part available for inspection upon request. This causes the Anti-lock braking system, Traction control system, Park Assist and Cruise Control to no longer function properly. This puts the driver and others at risk. Lights came on while the truck was not in motion and was just started. Lights first came on 9-2-24 and have been on and off since then. The problem has been reproduced by my local dealer twice both with the original part and its' replacements. The vehicle/component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were no Warning lamps/messaged before failure only after. These would be ABS lamp and traction control lamp plus a service ABS and electronic braking system warning message.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and towing a horse trailer with horses inside, there was a message displayed that the vehicle would enter LIMP Mode. The contact was able to drive a short distance to the destination. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it remained undiagnosed and unrepaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
DEF pump failed around 62500 miles. Ram sent emission recall notice 67a that states they will reimburse for costs incurred if issue was before recall. Submitted paperwork and they denied due to me replacing the part myself after buying parts from Dodge dealer. I paid $1687.44. Going to a dealer SHOULDN'T be a requirement
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the steering rack fractured, and the contact was no longer able to maneuver the vehicle. The contact strapped the steering wheel into place to maneuver the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the steering rack needed to be replaced; however, the cause of the failure was not known. The vehicle was not repaired. Another dealer was contacted and confirmed that the steering rack needed to be replaced and assisted the contact with finding the parts to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 275,000.
death wobble incident in my Ram 3500. Incident occurred while pulling a 35' foot Living Quarters horse trailer weighing over 26,000 pounds on the interstate. Have major vibration, shaking, and thumping sound in truck which gets worse the faster I accelerate. Chrysler needs to issue a recall on this issue get it resolved. See that this has already been report to NHTSA. February 24, 2024 NHTSA ID NUMBER: 11573822 Components: STEERING, SUSPENSION
Odometer Fraud. The contact's husband owns a 2016 Ram 3500. The contact stated that her husband was recently interested in trading in the vehicle. While on Facebook Marketplace, a person interested in vehicle requested a Carfax report of the vehicle. Upon obtaining the Carfax report, the contact discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 167,000; however, the Carfax report discovered that back in 2022, the vehicle mileage was 370,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brakes were inoperable. The contact stated that after the vehicle was involved in an accident, the contact stated he immediately depressed the brake pedal to stop the vehicle however, the vehicle continued moving forward. The contact stated that the ABS module activated, and the vehicle stopped. The vehicle had moved forward an additional 600 feet. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a failed brake master cylinder. The contact was informed that the brake master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 117,000.
The contact owns 2016 Ram 3500. The contact became aware that the front passenger's side tires had been wearing out prematurely. The vehicle was taken to a tire shop, and the contact was informed that an alignment could not be performed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that he would be referred to a specialist for assistance. The specialist called the contact and referred him to a dealer for assistance. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact they could not perform an alignment because the steering linkage jam nut was previously welded to the adjuster sleeve under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering). The dealer determined that the drag link assembly needed to be replaced to perform the alignment of the vehicle. The dealer was awaiting manufacturer’s authorization on the drag link assembly replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.
Upon shifting into reverse the rear tailgate backup camera operates intermittently causing me to loose rear visibility directly behind truck. When this occurs the Uconnect displays a fuzzy & distorted image as if there’s signal interference. Opening & closing the tailgate sometimes alleviates this issue but only temporarily.
The speed control switch operates intermittently. Sometimes it won’t turn on. Sometimes it won’t turn off. I am afraid it may cause me to have and accident.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle jerked and slowed down unintendedly. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed back to the residence. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic. The contact was informed that the fuel injectors were faulty due to wear and tear. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was not under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 116,021.
The cruise control switch is very intermittent. It can be difficult to get it to engage. Getting the cruise control to release with the brake or switch is also intermittent. I am very worried that it will cause a crash.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 3500. The contact stated that the vehicle was inspected and informed of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 19V021000 (Steering) and 18E096000 (Steering). The contact stated that while driving at highway speeds, the vehicle was drifting to the left and the right. The contact had to drive at speeds lower than 15 MPH to prevent the drifting from occurring. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the recall repairs were previously completed and was a one-time free repair. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 149,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the engine started making an abnormal clicking sound. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that a grid heater bolt had failed and fallen into the #5 cylinder, causing severe damage to the piston and cylinder head. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 149,000.
A yellow traffic light was lit and I started braking, then I heard a loud bang/snap and the trucks brake pedal went to the floor and would not stop. I then had to use the parking brake to stop the truck.
I purchased this vehicle new in 2016. It currently has approximately 49,000 miles. It has never been involved in any collision. In Feb. 2023 I took it to a Les Schwab Tire Center to have the drag link replaced & alignment done. When the repairs were completed the technician informed me that I may have a rear axle misalignment as he noticed the rear axle appeared to have shifted to the right of the vehicle & recommended taking it to a collision repair shop for further inspection. My next move was taking it to an independent shop & have the rear leaf springs inspected for correct alignment which found nothing abnormal but they also measured from the center of the front wheel to the center of the rear wheel on both sides of the vehicle and found a difference in measurement of approximately 3/4". They had me drive the vehicle down the road as they followed & verified the rear of the truck was tracking to the right. I then proceeded to take it to a Ram Dealer repair shop for inspection & concluded that the rear of the truck was tracking to the right but that they were not equipped to make corrections & recommended taking it to a collision repair shop. I then proceeded with a collision repair shop where they put it on a rack & took measurements of the frame & only found a slight abnormal condition in the frame on the right side in front of the rear axle but concluded that they did not believe it would be was causing the issue. So the issue I have is rear of the truck is tracking to the right. I never knew there was an issue with the truck before I took it to Les Schwab for its first alignment.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle became difficult to drive. The check engine and MIL warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the turbo actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 55,600.
Four death wobble incidents in the last 18 months. Unknown part failure, Replaced front track bar, right front wheel bearing pack, front suspension stabilize shock.
The Government Owned Vehicle (GOV) was traveling North on 31E in Nashville, when truck shuttered then truck passenger side wheel fell off. Tire/wheel pinned to truck and caught fire. Drive pulled truck off to side of roadway and called 911.
The contact owned a 2016 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, he crashed into another vehicle waiting at a stop light. The driver-side air bag did not deploy upon impact. The other driver was taken to the hospital; however, the driver's whereabouts are unknown. The contact also sustained whiplash which he was treated for days after the accident. A police report was filed. Due to the damage, the contact's vehicle was towed to an independent tow yard where it was deemed a total loss. The contact went to the dealer and notified them about the air bag failure; they then referred him to the manufacturer. The contact filed a claim with the manufacturer and an investigator was assigned to look into the failure. The investigation determined that since the contact did not depress the brake pedal prior to the accident, the air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was approximately 242,000.
The rear backup camera is working Intermittently causing a lack of view behind the truck. This problem happens multiple times per month
My def pump failed. Paid for repair. Now they have a recall for the part. I submitted a claim they denied my claim because I didn't have download 67a done before repair download wasn't available at that time. My truck is in the milage and dates required. I need help
Vehicle caught fire shortly after initiating OEM remote start. video is available
On February 3, 2022 I had my truck serviced at my local dealership to address SAFETY RECALL Y26. According to the service manager, the work was completed per the Safety Recall instructions. On Feb 22, 2022 while traveling at highway speed, all eight wheel studs broke on the left rear dually wheels which led to the wheel/tires separating from the vehicle without warning. This catastrophic failure could have caused serious injury, or death to the occupants of the vehicle, as well as other motorists/pedestrians. It was by the GRACE OF GOD the driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle until it was safely off the highway. The vehicle was transported by a flatbed wrecker to a dealership near the final destination it was en-route to, to inspect the damage and make all necessary repairs. Both the dealership that performed, the SAFETY RECALL Y26 in Raleigh, NC and the dealer in Ocala, FL that currently has possession of the truck have confirmed the cause of this catastrophic failure is YIELDED WHEEL STUDS. Consumer is requesting a recall investigation of the previously announced Recall Y26 and adjustment of existing recall remedies. Consumer has requested the return of all damaged parts from the vehicle from the dealership that is in possession of the vehicle and performing the Safety Recall repairs.
My 2016 dodge ram 3500 mega cab had a light come on the dash at about 89000 miles I drove it to the dealership, I told the dealership I thought it was something electrical. A couple of times my truck has went into limp mode, when this happens to you the truck will only take off in 4th gear and stays in 4th gear. If I pulled over when this would happen and turned the truck all the way off and then back on it take the light of the dash and shift properly. So the dealership calls me to let me know what they have found he says he has bad news and more bad news which was my transmission was going out and then they didn't have a transmission and had no idea when they would. They already welded up nut on the steering shaft instead of replacing it. I didnt buy a 3500 pickup because i wanted a light duty truck.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 3500. The contact stated after purchasing the vehicle, the local dealer informed him about NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer stated informed the contact that the nut would be welded and the vehicle would need an alignment. The contact stated that the steering wheel was not completely straight. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and who was unable to align the vehicle due to an issue with the drag link. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,190.
I was driving home, my truck began to vibrate or wobble hard, next thing it begins staggering upon a jolt, and then I noticed my two rear drivers side tires passing me on the highway. I safely get out of traffic somehow, and upon inspection both tires came off, and all my lug nuts but one are missing. There was no warning, I had to call a tow truck to pick my vehicle up and bring it home , it cannot be repaired due to the manufactory is not sure what the specs are, mean while I am without a vehicle and have missed several days of work.
Steering is failing. Steers like a boat. Looses control in turns. Over adjustment and correction must be done to maintain course. Same issue occurred in a Dodge Challenger.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 3500. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle with the brake pedal depressed, while attempting to shift into gear, the gear shifter handle fractured. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer was contacted, and the part was replaced by the contact. The vehicle was later serviced under the NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V821000 (Power Train). The contact indicated that an addendum card was to be given as part of the recall repair with instructions to drivers on how to shift gears when the brake pedal was depressed however, the card was not given. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer would supply the card. The failure mileage was 55,390.
TRUCK IS BURNING THROUGH A QUART AND HALF OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES IT APPEARS, BUT THERE ARE NO LEAKS UNDER THE VEHICLE OR ON THE OIL PAN. APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE TURBO SEALS. THE TRUCK GIVE NO WARNING THAT THE OIL IS LOW WHILE DRIVING. WHEN LOW IT DOES NOT SHOW UP ON THE DIPSTICK AT ALL.
MASTER CYLINDER FAILURE. LUCKILY DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT. COMPLETE BRAKING FAILURE WHILE MOVING ON A FLAT SURFACE NO WARNINGS. BAY DODGE IN PANAMA CITY, FL HAS BEEN PERFORMING OIL CHANGES AND SERVICING ON A REGULAR BASIS AND NOTED NO ISSUES. REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER AT BOB PFORTE DODGE IN MARIANNA.
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A FULL STOP, THE TRUCK ACCELERATES FOR LESS THAN ONE SECOND. AFTER THE SHORT BURST OF ACCELERATION, IT STOPS EVEN THOUGH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION HAS NOT CHANGED. THERE IS NOW ZERO ACCELERATION FOR ONE TO THREE SECONDS, LEAVING THE TRUCK IN A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS POSITION. THE ACCELERATION COMES BACK WITHIN ONE TO THREE SECONDS AND THE TRUCK DRIVES NORMALLY AFTER THAT. WHEN YOU COME TO A FULL STOP AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, THE BEHAVIOR REPEATS AND THE DELAY SEEMS TO DECREASE AS THE TRUCK 'WARMS UP'. THIS BEHAVIOR WAS VERIFIED BY TWO DRIVERS AND MULTIPLE TECHNICIANS AT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO ARE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM BUT RECOGNIZE THE POTENTIAL DANGER THAT CAN BE CAUSED BY THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER HAS HAD THE TRUCK FOR ALMOST ONE MONTH TRYING TO SOLVE AND CONTINUE TO VERIFY THE EXISTENCE AND DANGER ASSOCIATED WITH THE ISSUE. CHRYSLER'S STAR TEAM HAS ALSO BEEN WORKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH AND A ROOT CAUSE HAS STILL NOT BEEN IDENTIFIED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 RAM 3500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER DETACHED WHILE SHIFTING OUT OF PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 16V495000 (POWER TRAIN) AND 17V821000 (POWER TRAIN) AT TACOMA DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (4101 S. TACOMA WAY, TACOMA, WA 98409) HOWEVER, THE REPAIRS FAILED TO FIX OR PREVENT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,799.
PURCHASED VEHICLE NEW FROM MARSHALL DODGE IN OCT. 2016. I HAVE JUST REALIZED THAT MY SPARE TIRE IS A DIFFERENT SIZE. ON THE GROUND I HAVE (4) LT285/60R20E.. AND AS A SPARE I HAVE A LT275/70R18E. THIS IS THE WAY THE VEHICLE CAME FROM DODGE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IF I WOULD HAVE TO USE THE DIFFERENT SIZE SPARE, ESPECIALLY PULLING A 40FT. 5TH WHEEL CAMPER. I HAVE TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND FCA CASE MANAGEMENT AND TOLD THAT THIS IS NORMAL, AND I WOULD NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. MY CASE NUMBER IS 76379630 . I ALSO FEEL THAT WOULD NOT BE GOOD ON THE TRANSFER CASE AND DIFFERENTIAL. COULD YOU PLEASE ADVISE ME ON THIS PROBLEM ? IS THIS SAFE AS RAM HAS ADVISED ME ? *TR
MY 2016 RAM 3500 DRW LIMITED LEANS TO THE RIGHT APPROXIMATELY 3/4 INCH. WHEN I PLACE MY TRUCK CAMPER ON TOP, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG/SENSOR DOES NOT RISE EQUALLY WITH THE LEFT. AS A RESULT, I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH AN APPROXIMATE 2 INCH LEAN TO THE RIGHT. I DID NOT NOTICE THE TRUCK LEANS TO THE RIGHT UNTIL I PURCHASED A TRUCK CAMPER 3 MONTHS AGO. I TOOK IT TO RAM, THEY PUT IT ON A COMPUTER TO TRY AND ADJUST THE SETTINGS. IT DID NOT WORK. APPARENTLY, ONLY A FEW RAM MECHANICS IN THE US UNDERSTAND THE SYSTEM AND CAN FIX MY ISSUE. I'M MORE THAN HAPPY TO GO ANYWHERE TO FIX MY ISSUE. APPARENTLY, THERE IS NO TECHNICAL BULLETIN TO FIX MY ISSUE. I UNDERSTAND PLACING A CAMPER ON TOP OF THE TRUCK IS A MODIFICATION TO THE TRUCK. BUT, THESE TRUCKS ARE MARKETED BY RAM TO SUPPORT THE RV INDUSTRY. SO, THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET MY REAR CALIBRATED CLOSE TO ZERO. WHY CAN'T RAM WORK WITH THE LOCAL DEALER TO FIX MY ISSUE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING ON THE ROAD WITH THE TRUCK LEANING TO RIGHT AT 13,495 LBS GVW. (GVWR=14K). CAN YOU HELP TO CONNECT WITH RAM TO ASK THEM TO HELP FIX MY ISSUE? *TR
CRACKS ARE DEVELOPING ALONG THE CIRCUMFERENCE AREA BEAD SEAT OF THE TIRE CAUSING POSSIBLE TIRE WHEEL SEPARATION. I WAS INFORMED BY MY STEP SON AND GIRLFRIEND. WE HAUL OUR HORSES AND THANK GOODNESS THE TRUCK WAS AT HOME AT THE TIME OF NOTIFICATION. I CONTACTED ALCOA , AND THEY SAID THEY DON'T MAKE THESE WHEELS FOR THE RAM 3500 2016. SO I CONTACTED THE LOCAL RAM DEALER AND SO FOR NO HAS LIFTED A FINGER TO CALL OR SAY HEY PLEASE BRING THIS IN THE GET THIS RECTIFIED. I HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THESE WHEELS TILL 2021.
ON JANUARY 21, 2020 AT 1400 38 MILES OUTSIDE OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA ON HIGHWAY 29 DRIVER SIDE REAR INSIDE TIRE TREAD SEPARATED AND BLEW OUT THE TIRE CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK BED. THE SPEED OF THE BLOWOUT WAS 45 MPH AND HAD TO MANAGE PARKING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ON AN INCLINE IN ORDER TO CHANGE THE TIRE OUT AND REMOVE THE METAL THAT WAS HOLDING THE SPLASH GUARD. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TOW COMPANY INFORMED US THAT THE OUTSIDE TIRE ON THE SAME SIDE WAS READY TO BLOW AS WELL AND NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE ARE NEXXAN ROADIAN LT235/80R17 10 PLY. THE VEHICLE HAS 55,000 MILES ON IT.
WHEN DRIVING DOWN ROAD CONSTANTLY MAKE ADJUSTMENTS TO RIGHT AND OR STEERING WHEEL BEING HELD TO OR AROUND 1 OR 2 O'CLOCK POSITION JUST TO GO STRAIGHT. WHEN STEERING TO LEFT STEERING WHEEL IS TIGHTER THEN WHEN STEERING TO RIGHT. STEERING BOX NEEDS REPLACED AND OR REBUILT. TRUCK ONLY HAS ALITTLE OVER 60000 MILES ON IT. CONSTANTLY CHASING STEERING WHEN DRIVING DOWN ROAD. CITY STREETS AND LEFT LANE OF HIGHWAYS ITS EXTREMELY NOTICABLE. HAD TRUCK ALIGNED AND ALIGNMENT SHOP SAYS ALIGNMENT IS DEAD ON. AFTER READING MULTIPLE AND MULTIPLE FORUMS AND OTHER INFORMATION ONLINE, THIS IS A EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE TRUCKS YET NO RECALL TO FIX. RED HEAD IS A COMPANY THAT REBUILDS/UPGRADES THESE STEERING BOXES, BUT THE COST WITH SHIPPING IS AROUND $800. CHRYSLER SEEMS TO DENY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE STOCK STEERING BOXES ON THE RAM 2500/3500 TRUCKS, THERE ARE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE YET NO RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
I APPLAUD YOUR WORK IN HOLDING AUTOMAKERS ACCOUNTABLE AND RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING VEHICLE SAFETY ISSUES. HOWEVER, MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR V06/NHTSA 19V-021 (STEERING SYSTEM RECALL). RATHER THAT PROVIDING NEW PARTS FOR THE DEFECTIVE PARTS, RAM STATES THAT NHTSA HAS APPROVED WELDING THE STEERING JAM NUTS TO THE ADJUSTER. THE DEALER SUBMITTED A STAR CASE (#101582875) TO HAVE REPAIR PARTS PROVIDED WHICH WAS DENIED, BASED ON NHTSA APPROVAL OF WELDING. ALSO, CALLED RAM CARE (CASE # 68052515) THEY REFUSED TO PROVIDE REPAIR PARTS AND DIRECTED ME TO CONTACT THEIR FCA HQS VIA STANDARD MAIL. IT IS APPALLING TO ME THAT WE HAVE HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS ON THE ROAD THAT COST OVER $60K AND RATHER THAT REQUIRING RAM TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE PARTS, WE ALLOW THEM TO WELD PARTS. MOST OF THESE HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS ARE USED TO HAUL HEAVY TRAILERS. WELDS IF NOT DONE PROPERLY WEAKEN METAL AND CAN BREAK UNDER STRESS. ADDITIONALLY, THIS FIX (WELDING) RENDERS STEERING SYSTEM ADJUSTMENTS INOPERABLE WITHOUT GRINDING THE WELD ADJUSTING THE STEERING AND RE-WELDING THE PART ALL OF WHICH DAMAGES AND STRESSES THE CRITICAL EXISTING STEERING PARTS. REQUEST THAT NHTSA REQUIRE RAM TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE STEERING PARTS AND NOT ALLOW A JAM NUT TO THE ADJUSTER WELD AS A PERMANENT FIX TO THE STEERING SAFETY RECALL. THANKS

DODGE ALSO SHOULD STOP PUTTING THESE GARBAGE TIRES ON THEIR TRUCKS, GOING TO GET SOMEONE KILLED.
I BOUGHT THIS 2016 RAM 3500 BRAND NEW IN APRIL 2016. I NOW HAVE 9600 MILES ON IT AND THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE SEPARATED. THE LEFT FRONT IS GOING TO DO THE SAME THING. THE TIRE DOT CODE IS 2215. THESE TIRES WERE ALMOST A YEAR OLD WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK. I WANT TO KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY RULES AND REGULATIONS ON SELLINGVEHICLES WITH TIRE ONE YEAR OLD. I WAS ON THE FREEWAY DOING 70 MPH.
VIBRATION IN FRONT WHEEL, DIAGNOSED AT DEALERSHIP THAT THE TIRE HAS A SHIFTED BELT. THIS TIRE IS ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. WE ALREADY REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TIRE 2/13/19. THIS IS A DUALLY TRUCK AND WE ARE CONCERNED THAT THIS WILL ALSO HAPPEN TO THE 4 REAR TIRES. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY ONLY HAS 21,390 MILES. THIS SHOULD NOT BE OCCURRING AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I TRIED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER BUT THEY HAVE NOT RETURNED MY CALLS.
I FORGOT TO INCLUDE THE TIRE SIZE ETC WITH MY ORIGINAL COMPLAINT. ORIGINAL COMPLAINT #11279115 SHIFTED BELT IN TIRES NEXEN LT235 80R17E ON & OFF ROAD TIRES ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON MY 2016 RAM 3500 DUALLY
