While driving on the freeway my engine started slowing down and a message came on the dash saying "Transmission Service". I was fortunate enough to make it to the right shoulder from the first lane and the engine stopped. The readout on the dash said I was in neutral but I was in park. The car wouldn't start. After cooling down I could start and drive but the same issue would happen intermittently. I took it to AAMCO and they told me that there was a recall for the range sensor and wiring harness (S55/NHTSA 16V-529). When I got to the dealer he said that recall didn't pertain to my vehicle and I would have to pay for the service. Since the issue does cover vehicles of my make, model and year I want to know why isn't it covered? It's the same issue as the ones covered. I'm lucky that I wasn't involved in an accident because of this.
Driving 55mph on highway when, the vehicle began to shudder abnormally, resulting in pulling over to the shoulder of the interstate. Took vehicle to mechanic and learned oil coolant housing was leaking. This is a known design flaw by the manufacturer which can lead to engine damage and/or sudden stops of performance while driving.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram Promaster 3500. The contact stated that while driving 70-75 MPH, the DEF warning light was illuminated. The contact added DEF fluid to the tank and continued driving; however, a message indicating that the vehicle was in countdown mode or LIMP mode was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the dealer had informed the contact that the cause of the failure could not be determined after performing several tests. The vehicle remained stuck in LIMP mode and had remained at the dealer unrepaired for two months. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact requested an engineer's assistance in diagnosing the vehicle. A case was filed, but no assistance was provided. The contact stated that the vehicle was essential to get to several doctors' appointments after he had undergone surgeries. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

We purchased the van in April 2024, and the mileage was 130268. We checked the oil regularly and noticed the level dropping. After driving it 3080 miles and checked the oil level after letting the vehicle sit over night. The oil level was down almost 2 quarts. I contacted the dealer and told them what happened and they mentioned that there was a recall for some Promaster City vans. I looked up the information and found the recall marked as W80. I contacted Chrysler and they said our vehicle isnt listed and to contact the NHTSA. It has the same problems and is losing the oil in the same amounts as specified in the recall but for some reason, our VIN isnt listed in the recall.
The contact's boyfriend owns a 2015 Ram Promaster 2500. The contact stated that while her boyfriend was driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The driver continued driving, and the vehicle entered LIMP Mode and failed to accelerate above 5 MPH. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was serviced under an unknown recall; however, soon after the vehicle was repaired, the failure returned. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and serviced a second time under the same recall. Recently, the contact stated the failure returned, and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The vehicle remained with the dealer for several months before the contact was informed that the vehicle could not be serviced. The contact was advised to retrieve the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was provided with the same information as the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram Promaster 2500. The contact stated that, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated, indicating a torque converter failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the torque converter was replaced. The failure recurred and was repaired an additional two times. During the final repair, the mechanic determined that fluid was leaking from the radiator into the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 108,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram ProMaster 2500. The contact stated that the same day that the vehicle was purchased, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that after shifting to park(P) and the parking brake was engaged, the vehicle rolled backwards. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle with an unknown sensor failure. The sensor and the brakes were repaired. The contact retrieved the vehicle, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. When the gear lever was shifted to park(P) and the parking brake was engaged, the vehicle rolled backwards. The dealer was contacted, and the dealer at first refused to take the vehicle. After several months, the dealer took the vehicle, and it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel injectors, brakes, fuel tank, and an unknown sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was parked at the residence and had not been driven since. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
Both side mirrors fold in at highway speeds which means you have to roll down the window and hold the mirror open to turn
The van was parked for approximately 5 hours and burst into flames with no one in it the key removed and the van locked. The fire department was called and took a couple hours to put the fire out. The van is a complete loss.
exited a freeway, and when taking off at the stop vehicle lunged forward into the intersection and went out of gear. after repeated attempts to accelerate, drove about 200 feet and dropped out of gear again. Had vehicle towed to Dealer who said needed a new transmission and a left engine and transmission mount because the mounts are breaking causing the engine and transmission to drop nearly to the pavement. An article posted June 2019 by certtrans details the failure (search online for: mopar fix for ram promaster transmission bracket breakage). There are many possible catastrophic safety issue from this failure. Why have these vehicles not been recalled for these defective mounts? The upgraded mount was an additional $847. The price alone may scare some people off from replacing with upgraded mount. At highway speeds when the engine and transmission fall down the angle of the drive axles alone could cause breakage and loss of power. Plus there are a many other possibilities for this to cause a crash.
Several incidents when accelerating, the engine goes into a limp mode, followed by indicator lights coming on P0401, P0299, P226C. The vehicle will not accelerate and travels at a max speed of about 5mph. This has happened in traffic every time and has put me and my family, as well as other vehicles, at extreme risk of being in an accident, not being able to accelerate out of the way of oncoming traffic. After several cycles of turning the vehicle off and on, it returns to normal function. The vehicle has been inspected at a Dodge Service station. They determined that the Turbo diesel system is malfunctioning and needs repair. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

SAFETY RISK: A VEHICLE FIRE MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY TO OCCUPANTS AND PERSONS OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, AS WELL AS PROPERTY DAMAGE. REMEDY: REPLACE THE ENGINE COOLING FAN MODULE.
I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO A RAM DEALER SERVICE CENTER BECAUSE THE 'FILL DEF' LIGHT AND MESSAGE REMAINED IN THE EVIC EVEN THOUGH THE DEF WAS FULL. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE EGR COOLER, TUBE AND GASKETS NEED REPLACED. THE REPAIR WAS QUOTED AT $2918.27 (SEE ATTACHMENT). UPON RESEARCHING MOPAR SAFETY RECALLS, I CAME ACROSS RECALL VB1, WHICH PERTAINS TO EGR COOLERS OF RAM 1500S WITH ECODIESEL ENGINES NEEDING REPLACED. I CALLED MOPAR, AND THEY SAID VB1 DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VIN, EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME ENGINE. I AM WONDERING IF VB1 IS THE SAME ISSUE I AM HAVING WITH MY PROMASTER 1500 WITH AN ECODIESEL ENGINE, AND IF ANY OTHER PROMASTER OWNERS WITH THE ECODIESEL HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS. THE COST OF THIS REPAIR IS TOO HIGH TO JUSTIFY PAYING FOR IT, AND IN ALL HONESTY, IS TOO HIGH TO JUSTIFY HAVING BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN THE FIRST PLACE, ESPECIALLY IF OTHER ECODIESEL VEHICLES ARE HAVING THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE.
COOLING FAN CYCLES CONSTANTLY, KNOWN PROBLEM WITH PRO MASTER RECALL VB2 BUT MY VIN # DOSE NOT QUALIFY FOR THIS RECALL.
THE CAR WAS STOPPED IN THE LIGHT, THE RADIATOR FAN CAME ON, IT MADE A SOUND AND THEN THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL. THE CAR OVERHEATED AND I STOPPED IT TO COOL DOWN. THE RADIATOR FAN STOPPED AND THE CAR OVERHEATED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REVIEW AND WAS TOLD TO CHANGE THE FAN AND FUSES. CHECKING THE RECALLS I FOUND THE NHTSA 19V-818, WHICH MATCHES THE SPECIFICATIONS OF MY CAR AND THE PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE COOLING FAN. I AWAIT YOUR PROMPT RESPONSE TO BE ABLE TO SOLVE MY PROBLEM WITH THE CAR.
WHILE DRIVING THIS VAN THE ENGINE FAN STARTED MAKING A TERRIBLE NOISE. WE TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED IT AS A BAD FAN AND NOTED THAT THERE WAS A NEW RECALL FOR THIS FAILURE. WE TOOK IT TO THE DODGE DEALER AND WERE TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. WE HAD THEM FIX IT AND CONTACTED CHRYSLER WARRANTY FOR HELP. THEY DENIED THE CLAIM. WE HAVE 2 OF THESE IDENTICAL VEHICLES AND RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE OTHER VEHICLE, VIN# [XXX]. THEY TOLD US THAT THE VEHICLES WERE MAD AT DIFFERENT PLANTS SO IT WAS NOT COVERED. HOW CAN ONE BE COVERED AND THE OTHER NOT WHEN THE PARTS ARE IDENTICAL. IT MAKES NO SENSE. THIS OBVIOUSLY COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY BAD SITUATION IF NOT CAUGHT IN TIME. WHILE ON VACATION IN NM AND CO, AN ENGINE COOLING FAN ON SAFETY RECALL (OUR EXACT MODEL, MAKE, AND YEAR AND ACCESSORIES) WAS BLOWING FUSES/MALFUNCTIONING - THE RESULT POSSIBLE IS THE SAME THING THAT INITIATED THE RECALL - POSSIBILITY OF FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO KERNERSVILLE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (950 NC-66, KERNERSVILLE, NC 27284, (888) 656-5791) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND THE CONTROLLER SHIFTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AIRBAG PROBLEM
RECENTLY THIS VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A SLIGHT INCLINE AND AFTER THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS APPLIED THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL. THIS MODEL VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A PARK POSITION FOR THE TRANSMISSION LEVER. NOT SURE WHY THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A PARK POSITION BECAUSE WHEN THIS EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILED THERE IS NOTHING TO HOLD THE VEHICLE IN PLACE.
THE ROCKER ARMS WERE BAD WHICH CAUSED THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST CAMSHAFT TO WEAR OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. AND HAD TO REPLACE THE ROCKER ARMS ON ALL CYLINDERS.
IN 2017 I PURCHASED A RECREATIONAL VEHICLE WITH A DODGE CHASSIS WITH THE ATTACHED VIN. IT CURRENTLY HAS ABOUT 4500 MILES ON IT. FROM THE VERY BEGINNING I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTING WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (55 TO 65 MPH) WHICH PEGS THE TACH (7000 PLUS). THIS WOULD OCCUR WHEN TRAVELING UP SLIGHT GRADES WHILE ON CRUISE CONTROL AND WOULD HAPPEN AT RANDOM INTERVALS (ROUGHLY 200 MILES) WITHOUT WARNING. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DODGE DEALER AND DISCUSSED THE PROBLEM WITH THEM. THE FIRST TWO TIMES THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS BUT SAID IT WAS AN "ADAPTIVE" TRANS WHICH HAD TO ADJUST TO MY DRIVING AND DIDN'T OFFER ANY SOLUTIONS. AT THE THIRD VISIT TO THE DEALER THEY RELOADED NEW SOFTWARE FOR THE TRANS, BUT STILL OFFERED THE "ADAPTIVE" ARGUMENT, AND STILL WOULDN'T GUARANTEE A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. WHEN IT DOWN SHIFTS THERE IS SO MUCH ENGINE BRAKING AND RAPID DECELERATION THAT I FEAR A REAR END COLLISION. ADDITIONALLY, DRIVING ON SLIPPERY ROADS (GRAVEL, FROST, SNOW, RAIN) COULD EASILY RESULT IN A SKID AND POSSIBLY COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL.
MY 2015 PROMASTER 2500 GOT A P0481 CODE FOR A FAULTY RADIATOR FAN. THIS IS CONSISTENT WITH KNOWN DEFECTS IN OTHER MAKES AND MODELS IN FCA (FIAT CHRYSTLER AUTOMOTIVE). MOST NOTABLE IS JEEP RENEGADE FANS (P/N: 623740)
WE OWN A 2015 RAM PROMASTERS. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. TECH EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. ON THE DASH APPEARED A YELLOW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND A RED SYMBOL ( ! ). A MESSAGE READ "SERVICE REQUIRED - TRANSMISSION SERVICE". AS THE TECH ATTEMPTED TO EXIT THE FREEWAY, AFRAID THAT THE VAN MIGHT STALL WITH INCOMING TRAFFIC. HE MADE A SAFE EXIT OFF THE FREEWAY. PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF IGNITION AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR IN HOPES THAT THE TROUBLE WOULD CLEAR. THE RED SYMBOL ( ! ) DISAPPEARED AND POWER WAS RESTORED. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE BACK TO COMPANY
MY TRUCK IS IN GETTING BRAKES CHANGED FOR THE THIRD TIME THERE IS ONLY 36000 MILES ON IT EVERY TIME I BROUGHT IT BRAKE TO DEALER THEY THERE NOTHING WRONG. DRIVING HOME TODAY AND THE BRAKES LOCKED. MY MECHANIC HAS TOLD THAT WITH THESE MODELS AND FORD TRANSIT THAT EXPECT TO CHANGE BRAKES EVERY 15000 MILES. HE SAID THERE SHOULD BE RECALL ON THESE TRUCKS CAUSE IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM WITH EVERY HE HAS SERVICE. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT SINCE I GOT BRAND NEW. AND RAM DON'T WANT TO STAND BY THERE VEHICLES. THEY JUST SAY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG I WOULD OF BEEN BETTER IF BUYING A SECOND HAND TRUCK I WOULD OF LESS MONEY INTO IT. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS. ALSO COOLANT FAN WENT AND HAD TO WAIT 2 WEEKS TO GET PART BECAUSE IT WAS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND THERE WAS 1200 PEOPLE WAITING FOR SAME PART. RADIATOR COOLING FAN HAS STOPPED WORKING AT 39000 MILES.VAN IS OVERHEATING .STILL UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY.WE ARE BEING GIVEN A HARD TIME ABOUT WARRANTY REPAIR.VAN CAN'T OPERATE AS IT HAS ALSO BLOWN FUSES FOR THE FAN.RESEARCH INDICATES MANY OWNERS WITH SAME ISSUES.
I BOUGHT THE RAM PRO MASTER 2015 BRAND NEW AND HAD TO REPLACE THE PARKING BTAKE OUT 4 TIMES AND REPLACED PARKING BRAKE CABLES 3 TIMES. PARKING BRAKE CABLES GET WATER INTO THE CABLES AND FREEZES IN THE WINTER. THE PARKING BREAK YOU SHOULDN'T NEVER HAVE TO REPLACE IT. THE FUNCTION OF THE PARKING BRAKE IS THE HOLD THE TRUCK IN PLACE IT'S NEVER WILD WHILE THE TRUCK IS MOVING NOT AWARE ARE WEARABLE ITEMS.THE PARKING BREAK HIS FALL APART THREE TIMES WHILE I WAS MOVING IN SLOW TRAFFIC ABOUT 30 MILES AN HOUR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HENDERSONVILLE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (401 DUNCAN HILL RD, HENDERSONVILLE, NC), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
PARKING BRAKE NOT WORKING DURING WINTER TIME. WHEN PARKING, PARKING BRAKE WAS USED AND IT WORK. WHEN DRIVEING THE VEHICLE THE PARKING BRAKE WAS RELEASE BUT THE BRAKE IS LOCK UP. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE. TOOK TO THE SHOP AND THE SHOE WAS ALL USE UP. I CHANGED THE SHOE AT THE SHOP AND STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM. PARKING BRAKE DO NOT WORK IN COLD WEATHER.
MY TPMS SYSTEM HAS NEVER WORKED RELIABLY SINCE NEW. IT IS ON NOW AND HAS BEEN ON INTERMITTENTLY FOR 40,000 MILES. TYPICALLY IT COMES ON AND STAYS ON FOR A WEEK TO A MONTH AND CHECKING OR ADJUSTING TIRE PRESSURE SEEMS TO HAVE NO EFFECT ON WHETHER IT IS ON OR SUDDENLY OFF FOR A MONTH OR TWO. I AM CONCERNED I MIGHT REALLY HAVE A FAILING TIRE OR LOW PRESSURE AND BECAUSE THE LIGHT IS ON I CANNOT KNOW. I UNDERSTAND THE NHTSA REQUIRES THIS SYSTEM. IS IT SAFE TO BE SO UNRELIABLE? IT IS ON NOW ON SINCE OCT 14TH BUT THE TIRES ARE PROPERLY INFLATED AS HAS BEEN TRUE IN THE PAST.

BCM IS BAD DEALER SAYS NOT AN ITEM COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. VEHICLE HAS 23000 MILES ON IT AND IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. DEALERSHIP IS NOT BE HONEST WITH REPAIRS AND HELD VEHICLE HOSTAGE IN ORDER TO GET VEHICLE BACK FROM THEM WE HAD TO PAY A SERVICE INVOICE FOR THEM LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE $355.75. AGAIN VEHICLE IS NOT EVEN 2 YEARS OLD AND ONLY HAS 23000 MILES ON IT, I JUST BOUGHT IT LAST MONTH.
THERE IS A SERIOUS DEFECT IN THE PARKING BRAKE WHICH CAUSES IT TO FREEZE AND LOCK UP IN COLD TEMPERATURES. THIS VEHICLE HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH NO PARKING GEAR SO THE PARKING BRAKE IS REQUIRED TO PARK THE VEHICLE SO THAT IT DOES NOT ROLL. WHAT HAPPENS IS THAT WATER GETS INTO THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE AND FREEZES IN SUBZERO TEMPERATURES CAUSING THE PARKING BRAKE TO NOT ENGAGE, NOT RELEASE, OR ONLY RELEASE PARTIALLY SO THAT IT DRAGS. FROM THE DRIVERS PERSPECTIVE IT APPEARS NORMAL OTHER THAN HAVING LESS OR NO TENSION WHEN THE PARKING BRAKE LEVER IS APPLIED.OR RELEASED. WHEN THE CABLE IS FROZEN WHILE THE BRAKE IS DISENGAGED, THE BRAKE DOES NOT ENGAGE, SO THERE IS NO WAY TO PROPERLY PARK THE VEHICLE. WHEN FROZEN WHILE ENGAGED, THE BRAKE REMAINS ON OR ONLY PARTIALLY RELEASES WHICH CAUSES IT TO BE UNABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE OR THE BRAKE WILL DRAG AND OVERHEAT WHILE DRIVING. WE HAVE TWO OF THESE VEHICLES PURCHASED AT ABOUT THE SAME TIME FROM . ONE IN MINNESOTA AND THE OTHER IN TEXAS. BOTH HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM SO IT CLEARLY NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM. ONE COST US OVER $2000 TO FIX BECAUSE THE ENTIRE BRAKE ASSEMBLY BECAME OVERHEATED AND DESTROYED ALMOST ALL OF THE WHEEL COMPONENTS. I'VE ATTACHED THE INVOICE FOR THE REPAIRS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS! I HAVE NOT BROUGHT THIS UP EARLIER BECAUSE I WAS CERTAIN THAT IT WOULD BE RECALLED FOR THIS BY NOW. WE USE THESE FOR DELIVERIES AND NOW OUR MANAGER IN MINNESOTA WILL NOT OPERATE THE VAN IN THE WINTER FOR SAFETY REASONS. TODAY THE DRIVER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE THE PARKING BRAKE AT DELIVERY STOPS SO HAS TO FIND A PLACE TO PARK ON A HILL WITH THE WHEELS TOWARD THE CURB. THIS IS NOT A SAFE WAY TO PARK THE VEHICLE. THESE VEHICLES REALLY NEED TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE IS IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
PARKING BRAKE INITIALLY WOULD NOT RELEASE AND STAY LOCKED ON. BRAKE SHOES WORE DOWN TO THE POINT THAT NOTHING WAS LEFT ON THE BRAKE PADS TO HOLD THE VEHICLE IN PLACE TO KEEP IT FROM ROLLING DOWN A HILL. THE VAN TRANSMISSION IS AN AUTOMATED MANUAL WITH NO CLUTCH, SO THERE IS NO WAY TO LEAVE THE VAN IN GEAR WHEN STOPPED AND USE THE TRANSMISSION TO KEEP THE WHEELS FROM ROLLING. I TOOK THE VAN TO THE DEALER. THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT WERE UNSURE OF WHY THIS ISSUE WAS HAPPENING. THEIR SOLUTION WAS TO ADD ALL NEW PARKING BRAKE PARTS COSTING ME A TOTAL OF $1400 TO REPLACE.
THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE BRAKING CONTROL MODULE THAT DOES NOT ALLOW A PROPER SIGNAL TO A TRAILER FROM THE VAN. THE DEFECT PREVENTS BOTH BRAKE AND TURN SIGNALING IN ANY MANNER FROM THE TRAILER AT ANY SPEED OR AT A STAND STILL. THIS DEFECT SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN PRESENT FOR 2 YEARS, NO NOTIFICATION HAS BEEN GIVEN TO ME BY THE MANUFACTURER. I FOUND THE ISSUE BECAUSE I BOUGHT A NEW TRAVEL TRAILER. WHEN I ASKED THE DEALER ABOUT THE ISSUE THEY STATED THAT CHRYSLER CORPORATION HAS A RESTRICTION ON ORDERING THE PART TO FIX THE ISSUE. APPARENTLY ONLY ONE CUSTOMER CAN BE SERVICED AT A TIME. THEY STATED THAT EACH PERSON TAKES AROUND 2 WEEKS TO SERVICE. I AM APPARENTLY 6TH IN LINE FOR THE PART. THIS MEANS I HAVE A 2 1/2 MONTH WAIT TIME BEFORE I CAN TOW A TRAILER. THE LENGTHY FIX WAIT TIME LEAVES ONE TO BELIEVE THAT UNSCRUPULOUS OWNERS ARE TOWING WITHOUT SIGNALING EQUIPMENT AND THUS ENDANGERING LIVES. APPARENTLY CHRYSLER IS IN NO HURRY TO SOLVE THE ISSUE WHICH IT HAS KNOWN ABOUT FOR WHAT I AM GUESSING IS A 2 YEAR PERIOD. THE CHRYSLER GROUP IS WILLFULLY COVERING UP DANGEROUS DEFECTS. WHEN DISCOVERED, PRESUMABLY AFTER ONE HAS TOWED A TRAILER SOME DISTANCE, THEY AGAIN CONTINUE TO DENY THE SEVERITY OF THE ISSUE BY SLOWLY REPAIRING VEHICLES THAT ARE AFFECTED BY THE DEFECT. SEE FOR YOURSELF, CALL A DEALER AND ASK THEM ABOUT THIS ISSUE. IT IS RECALL S29 FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD. APPARENTLY THE "S" STANDS FOR SECRET.. ASK THE FIRM EXECUTIVES WHY ONE HAS A VEHICLE WITH THIS ISSUE FOR 2 YEARS BEFORE THEY MUST FIND OUT ON THEIR OWN THEY COULD KILL SOMEONE BY TOWING A TRAILER. ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL AND MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON SPORADICALLY DURING A 2,000 MILE TRIP OVER A 2 WEEK PERIOD. CAUSED VEHICLE AUTOMATIC SHIFTING TO JUMP FROM GEAR TO GEAR AND SPEED AND ENGINE RPM TO NOT RESPOND TO FOOT PEDAL WHILE DRIVING. DEALER FLUSHED FUEL SYSTEM STATING PROBLEM WAS BIODIESEL IN TANK. OWNERS MANUAL SAYS BIODIESEL CAN BE USED.
MAY 22, 16 2015 RAM PROMASTER, DELIVERED APR 1, 2015 39,049 MILES THE DASH LOW TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR ILLUMINATED WHILE TRAVELING AT 65 MPH ON A LIMITED ACCESS HIGHWAY AND WITH APPROXIMATELY 750 LBS. OF CARGO AND NO TRAILER, THE VEHICLE WAS IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT TO A STOP ON THE SHOULDER AND INSPECTION SHOWED THAT THE VALVE STEM HARDWARE HAD FALLEN OFF THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL, WHICH ALLOWED THE TIRE TO VERY QUICKLY GO FLAT. THE OTHER 3 VALVE STEM RETAINER NUTS WERE FOUND TO BE NEARLY "FINGER TIGHT". IN ADDITION, THE SPARE TIRE LOWERING MECHANISM FAILED TO OPERATE AND HAD TO BE "CUT OFF" WITH A HACKSAW.
WATER ENTERS THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE COWLING BELOW THE WINDSHIELD IS A 2-PIECE UNIT WITH A "JOINT" IN THE MIDDLE, WHERE WATER ENTERS AND FORMS ON TOP OF THE ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, WHICH COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STOP. THERE IS ALSO A LEAK ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND FLOWS ON TOP OF THE FUSE BOX AND ELECTRICS. THERE IS ALSO A LEAK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHERE WATER ENTERS FROM THE HOOD VENT AND GOES ONTO THE AIR INTAKE AND THEN CAN GO INTO THE ENGINE. MANY OWNERS HAVE CONTACTED THEIR DEALERS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN TRYING SINCE 2015. SEVERAL OWNERS HAVE HAD THEIR ALTERNATORS QUIT BECAUSE OF WATER AND THE ENGINE HAS DIED WHILE DRIVING. AFTER READING THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ZF TRANSMISSION IN THE CHEROKEE, THE DESCRIPTIONS NOTED ARE EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MY VAN. 2015 RAM PROMASTER CITY CURRENTLY HAS 715 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. WE HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 3 MONTHS, AND PURCHASED IT NEW. THE PROBLEM I'M ABOUT TO DESCRIBE HAS OCCURRED ON FOUR (4) SEPARATE OCCASIONS IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS. WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, (HAS OCCURRED BETWEEN 25 MPH AND 75 MPH) THE TRANSMISSION CLUNKS LOUDLY, AND IS MET WITH A SUDDEN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. EACH OCCURRENCE FORCED US TO PULL VEHICLE TO SIDE OF ROAD, (3 OCCURRENCES ON CITY STREETS, 1 OCCURRENCE ON FREEWAY) TURN THE ENGINE/IGNITION OFF, AND START ENGINE AGAIN. ONCE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED, VEHICLE ALLOWED US TO DRIVE IN WHAT THE DEALER HAS DUBBED "LIMP-IN MODE" WHERE VEHICLE ALLOWS ITSELF TO BE DRIVEN AT 25-30MPH, AND WILL NOT SHIFT GEARS. EACH TRIP TO THE DEALER REVEALED DIFFERENT ODM SERVICE CODES. EACH TIME DEALER RETURNS VEHICLE TO US, CLAIMING THEY HAVE FIXED THE ISSUE, THE ISSUE INEVITABLY OCCURS AGAIN. DEALER HAS CLAIMED TO HAVE REPAIRED 3 DIFFERENT MODULES, NONE OF WHICH HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM. STILL AWAITING REPAIR FOR THIS FOURTH OCCURRENCE.
TAKATA RECALL: WHILE I WAS DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE FREEWAY, THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED SHAKING AND IN THE MATTER OF FEW SECONDS THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY. I TRIED TO MOVE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY SLOWLY, TO A SAFE PLACE, WAS DIFFICULT, BECAUSE AFTER I MOVED THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, I LOOKED AT THE WHEELS AND IT STARTED MAKING A METAL AGAINST METAL NOISE, LIKE BRAKES ON A TRAIN. AFTER I CALLED THE TOWING, THEY TOOK ME TO THE DEALER, IN CARSON CITY, NEVADA. AFTER TWO DAYS THE DEALER CALLED ME BACK AND TOLD ME I WAS DRIVING ON A TURNED ON EMERGENCY BRAKE. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE TO BE DRIVING 70 MPH ON FREEWAY WITH AN EMERGENCY BRAKE ON. I CERTAINLY THINK THIS IS A FACTOR PROBLEM, THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED RIGHT NOW. I ALSO READ ON MANY DIFFERENT FORUMS AND THE DODGE RAM PROMASTER 2015 HAS THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. TO BE HONEST I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BECAUSE THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE FOR THE ROAD.
