TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL,THE VEHICLE WAS SLOW TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE PROGRESSED AND THE TRACTION CONTROL SERVICE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ALONG WITH AN ADDITIONAL WARNING LAMP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
I SWITCHED MY GEAR FORM PARK TO DRIVE AND MY CAR STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. I LOOK DOWN TO MAKE SURE THAT I HAD IT IN DRIVE AND IT WAS. I PUT IT IN PARK SO I THOUGH AND WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OF THE BREAK MY CAR CONTINUED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. I THEN PUSHED DOWN ON THE BREAK AND PUT IN DRIVE AGAIN AND MY CAR ONCE AGAIN STARED TO ROLL BACKWARDS AFTER TAKING MY FOOT OFF THE BREAKS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT CORRELATION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
'07 AURA XR. PURCHASED MID-JANUARY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE I BOUGHT IT, WITH NO ISSUES OTHER THAN AN EXHAUST LEAK AT THE FLEX PIPE. STARTED NOTICING LOSS OF POWER ON ACCELERATION, ATTRIBUTED IT TO DIRTY INJECTORS/BAD FUEL. PUT IN INJECTOR CLEANER AND PREMIUM FUEL, CAR WOULD NOT START. FINALLY STARTED AND TOOK OFF ONLY TO HAVE SAME ISSUE, BUT NOW WORSE. CAR WOULD ALMOST STALL WHEN ACCELERATING FROM DEAD STOP, HAVE TO KEEP ACCELERATOR PINNED TO THE FLOOR WHEN STARTING, ROUGH IDLE WHEN RUNNING. NEXT STEP, REPLACED SPARK PLUGS. DID NOT FIX PROBLEM, BUT STILL NEEDED REPLACING. CHECKED CODES: P0016 AND P0017 (CRANKSHAFT POSITION VS. INTAKE CAMSHAFT POSITION CORRELATION BANK 1 FAULT). HAVE NOT TAKEN TO DEALER TO HAVE ASSESSED, BUT FROM EVERYTHING I HAVE READ THIS IS A STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN. RECALL #11340C WITH SPECIAL COVERAGE FOR EVERY OTHER GM VEHICLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT NOT THIS ONE. WHAT A JOKE. WOULD RATHER TAKE THE $2K-4K REQUIRED FOR THE REPAIR AND SPEND IT ON A COMPETITOR VEHICLE.
GAS FUMES WERE DETECTED WHEN CAR TAKEN IN FOR ANNUAL SMOG CERTIFICATE, AFTER INSPECTION GAS LEAK DETECTED COMING FROM FUEL PUMP, GAS ON TOP OF GAS TANK
I WAS HAVING AN INSPECTION AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH MY CAMSHAFT CORRELATION. THEY DETERMINED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN HAS STRETCHED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR $2000 DOLLARS THIS IS THE SAME ENGINE AS OTHER VEHICLES THAT HAVE BEEN REPAIRED UNDER SERVICE 11340C WHY IS THIS ENGINE NOT COVERED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON AUTOMATICALLY AND HAVE TO KEEP PRESSING BRAKES TO MAKE THEM GO OFF. ALSO THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT ENGAGE UNLESS I'M AT 70 MPH OR WILL NOT ENGAGE AT ALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO ENGAGE AND ALL OF THE DOORS WOULD NOT AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK WHEN THE KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE JOLTED WHENEVER THE GEARS SHIFTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
BEGINNING AROUND MARCH 4 2015, CAR BEGAN TO HAVE ISSUES WITH LOSS OF POWER STEERING. INITIALLY, IT WOULD SOMETIMES HAVE NO POWER STEERING AT START UP. I WOULD TURN IT OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND EVENTUALLY, THIS WOULD RESULT IN POWER STEERING BEING RESTORED. WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD PULL INDEPENDENTLY. AT STOP LIGHTS, IF I TOOK MY HANDS OFF THE WHEEL, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD TWITCH AND SHAKE AND TURN BY ITSELF. ON SAT. MARCH 21, 2015 I LOST POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. TOOK CAR TO REPAIR SHOP "PERFORMANCE AUTOMOTIVE, (GENERAL'S HIGHWAY, CROWNSVILLE, MD; [XXX] PROPRIETOR). MECHANIC SAID THAT THE SENSORS INSIDE THE STEERING COLUMN WERE NOT OPERATING PROPERLY. HE SAID EITHER THE STEERING COLUMN OR JUST THE SENSORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. GM SAID THIS WAS NOT COVERED BY ANY RECALL NOTICE, ALTHOUGH MANY OTHER CARS IN THE SAME CLASS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS WERE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO DAYS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,500.
REMOTE START FAILED TO TURN OVER ENGINE ONLY SIGNALED HEADLIGHTS TO FLASH. UPON STARTING CAR WITH KEY IN IGNITION THE SERVICE ENGINE ILLUMINATED AND HAS NOT TURNED OFF TO THIS DAY. WAS ABLE TO BRING INTO LOCAL CHEVROLET SERVICE DEPT FOR RECALL 13036 FOR BRAKE LAMP MALFUNCTION AND HAVE DIAGNOSTIC ON SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON MAY 6TH 2015. DEALER STATES CURRENT CODE OF P0017 AND HISTORY CODES P2070 AND P0019. DEALER CLAIMS CAUSE IS A STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN AND WORN GUIDES AND WANTS AN ENGINE TEAR DOWN TO REPLACE TIMING CHAIN, GUIDES, COVERS AND EXAMINE CAMSHAFT TIMING. ESTIMATED COST IS $3271 AND 2-3 DAYS TO REPAIR. CURRENT MILEAGE IS 100,877 AND MANUFACTURER IS REFUSING TO COVER ANY PART OF THE REPAIR. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS REPAIR AND SEEN COMPLAINT AFTER COMPLAINT IN REGARDS TO THIS ENGINES TIMING CHAIN FAILING. COMPLAINTS RANGE OVER A SERIES OF MAKES, MODELS, AND ENGINES AND APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE ON GENERAL MOTORS PART FOR YEARS AND THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALLS OR CORRECTIVE ACTIONS. I ALSO HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR INTERMITTENTLY TURNING OFF THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WHILE AN ADULT IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THIS IS CAUSED BY A FAILING SENSOR INSIDE THE PASSENGER SEAT.THE SEAT WOULD NEED TO BE REMOVED AND DISASSEMBLED TO REPLACE THE SENSOR AN APPX $800 REPAIR. AGAIN ANOTHER COMMON COMPLAINT AND REPAIR THE MANUFACTURER IS REFUSING TO COVER. MY CAR IS REGULARLY MAINTAINED WITH RECORDS AVAILABLE. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO PAY $4000 IN REPAIRS THAT SHOULD NOT NEED TO BE REPAIRED AT CONSUMERS COST. THESE SERIOUS CONDITIONS NEED TO BE ADDRESSED BY GENERAL MOTORS AND POSSIBLE RECALLS ISSUED. IT'S SAD THAT THE MANUFACTURER DUMPS THEIR CONSUMERS ONCE THEY CEASE PRODUCTION OF A BRAND OR MODEL. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND ADVISE US UNFORTUNATE OWNERS. *TR
I REACHED BACK OUT TO JACK MAXSON (DEALER) REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION CABLE FAILURE AND WAS ASSURED BY A GENTLEMAN @ THE DEALER THAT RECALL WAS ALREADY COMPLETED ON MY CAR. I WAS ONLINE LOOKING UP THE ISSUES NOTED BELOW AND APPARENTLY THIS IS A MORE COMMONLY KNOWN ISSUE THEN I WAS AWARE OF WITH THE SATURN ARUA'S, ALL OF WHICH I WAS ADVISED BEING APART OF THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE MATTER. TO BETTER EXPLAIN WHAT IS GOING ON I HOPE THIS LIST HELPS YOU TO UNDERSTAND , PO THESE ISSUES ARE SPORADIC. 1.SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE THE POWER LOCK FEATURE FAILS 2.SHIFT FORM DRIVE TO PARK THE POWER UNLOCK FEATURE FAILS 3.SHIFT TO REVERSE THE REVERSE LIGHTS FAIL TO COME ON 4.CRUISE CONTROL FEATURE STOPS WORKING (ONLY WHEN ALL THE OTHER FEATURE ABOVE MENTIONS STOP) 5.SHIFT TO PARK THE CAR ROLLS. *TR
AS I AM DRIVING ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR CUTS AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER COMES ON AND TRACTION SERVICE AND THEN IT WON'T GO ABOVE 25 MPH BUT STARTS AT 5 MPH AND SLOWLY GOES UP AND SHAKES I HAVE GONE TO GM DEALER AND OTHER AUTO SHOPS AND THEY CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM IT'S DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT COULD LEAD TO A RE ENDING WITH MY DAUGHTER IN BACK AND CAUSE A CRASH . I OWN A 2007 SATURN AURA XR I BOUGHT IN 2008. IT HAS 69,600 MILES AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A TIMING CHAIN REPLACEMENT FOR $2400.00 BECAUSE IT HAD STRETCHED. I HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT THAT GM HAS A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT #11340C ON THE 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK AND NUMEROUS OTHER VEHICLES, FOR THE SAME ISSUE. MY ENGINE CODE IS LY7, SAME AS THE OUTLOOK AND OTHER VEHICLES. ADDITIONALLY I'VE ALREADY HAD 1 RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR A BRAKE LIGHT ISSUE, JUST GOT A NOTICE OF A TRANSMISSION ISSUE, AND I'M ON MY THIRD SET OF COMPLETE BRAKES IN JUST 69,600 MILES AND I NEED ALL NEW BRAKES AGAIN. ROTORS ARE WARPED AFTER10 TO 15,000 MILES! ALSO THE "SERVICE TRACTION" LIGHT KEEPS ILLUMINATING PERIODICALLY FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I'M GETTING NO ANSWERS OR HELP FROM GM OR IT'S DEALERS. *TR

2007 SATURN AURA. CONSUMER REQUESTS AIR BAG ON-OFF SWITCH FOR VEHICLE DUE TO MEDICAL A CONDITION. *SMD
I WAS ADJUSTING THE SEAT HEIGHT AS I WAS CLEANING THE VEHICLE, AND I HEARD A SNAP/POP SOUND. THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SEAT WAS NOT BEING SUPPORTED UP AND I COULD ALSO JIGGLE THE SIDE FORWARD AND BACK. THE ONLY POSITION THAT FEELS OK IS COMPLETELY LOWERED, BUT THE RIGHT SIDE STILL CAN MOVE SLIGHTLY BOTH FORWARD AND BACKWARD. I HAVE REMOVED THE SEAT FROM THE CAR AND THERE IS A WELD FAILURE OF A TUBE THAT EXTENDS ACROSS THE FRONT OF THE SEAT, AND ON THE BACK OF THE PASSENGER SIDE, A BRACKET CONNECTED TO A STEEL TUBE SNAPPED FROM THE TUBE. WHILE I DON'T MIND BEING LOW IN THE CAR, I AM CONCERNED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE MAY GIVE WAY. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME SLIGHTLY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, WHO DISCOVERED THAT THERE WERE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE POWER STEERING FLUID. THE POWER STEERING FLUID WAS FLUSHED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14E044000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE ELECTRICAL IGNITION FAILED TWICE ON CAR ONCE IN 2009 AND IN 2015 IT HAD ISSUES IN PRIOR YEARS IN BETWEEN DATES WITH IGNITION SWITCH AND KEYS GM SAYS IT IS NOT A RECALL ISSUE EVEN THOUGH OTHER YEAR GMS ARE RECALLED FOR IGNITION SWITCH ISSUES. *TR
DRIVING AT 60MPH..SUDDENLY SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL , ENGINE POWERED DOWN AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON I PULLED CAR OVER.SHUT IT OFF, ALL CODES BUT ALL CODES BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT WERE CLEARED. LATER ON WHEN I STARTED IT UP AGAIN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CLEARED. WHEN THIS HAPPENED ONE WEEK EARLIER, THE MECHANIC CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY AND PUT A NEW AIR FILTER IN ..$150.00.READING ABOUT OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, IT MUST BE A DEFECT IN THE COMPUTER SYSTEM..CAR IS RUNNING FINE..I RECENTLY SPENT $3000.00 REPLACING STRUTS, BUSHINGS, BRAKES, ALIGNMENT, OIL CHANGE SWAY BAR LINKS, ETC ETC. *TR

THE SERVICE TRACTION LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND ENGINE POWER REDUCED WAS DISPLAYED ACROSS THE MESSAGE BOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE SERVICE TRACTION MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
AIR BAGS ARE TAMARA BUT NOT ON RECALL AND NEED TO BE REPLACED? AND WARNING COMES ON TO CHECK AIR BAGS HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET FIXED FOR LAST COUPLE OF YEARS
VEHICLE WILL NOT GO IN REVERSE. HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND HAVE SEEN THAT GM IS AWARE OF A SHIFTER CABLE FRAYING, BUT NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN SENT OUT. *TR
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN WENT OFF THE SAME DAY. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER. TOOK IT FOR SERVICE, SAID IT MIGHT BE BECAUSE AN OIL CHANGE WAS NEEDED BUT IF LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN IT WAS LIKELY THE TIMING CHAIN AND I SHOULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. LIGHT WAS ON IMMEDIATELY AFTER SERVICE AND THE SERVICE TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME (THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT LIGHT CAME ON). TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY CONFIRMED IT IS THE TIMING CHAIN. GOING TO COST ABOUT $2700 AND 2-3 DAYS TO FIX. NOT SURE WHY THIS MODEL WASN'T RECALLED WHEN THE 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK WAS RECALLED FOR THE EXACT SAME PART. *TR
THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS AND MANY OTHER CARS TSB NUMBER: PIP-4327A THAT STATES GM IS AWARE THAT THERE IS A FAULTY WAVE PLATE IN THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT THE PLATE WILL BREAK AT SOME POINT. WHEN IT DOES BREAK IT COULD COST THE OWNER ANYWHERE FROM $2500 TO OVER $5,000 TO GET THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED/REBUILT. WHEN THE PLATE DOES BREAK, THE CAR IS DANGEROUS...THE CAR SLIPS INTO DIFFERENT GEARS AND SPEEDS WHICH CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS. PLEASE FOR GM TO TURN THIS INTO A RECALL AND RECALL/REPLACE THESE PLATES BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE GEARS. IN ADDITION, THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LOCK FAILED. AFTER OWNING THE SATURN FOR SEVEN YEARS THE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT WAS REPLACED WHEN THERE WAS LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. UPON THE FIRST REPLACEMENT, THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED AND THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED WHEN WE REPORTED THE PROBLEM. ROUGHLY FIVE YEARS LATER THE ISSUE WAS ADDRESSED AGAIN BECAUSE THE SHAFT THAT WAS REPLACED MALFUNCTIONED TO THE POINT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INOPERABLE. NOW, THE DEALERSHIP IS STATING THAT MORE THAN THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IN FACT, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THAT THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, RESULTING IN MORE MONEY WE HAVE TO SPEND TO HAVE THE VEHICLE FIXED AND RUNNING PROPERLY. THIS FINAL DISPUTE WITH THE DEALERSHIP LEAD TO BEING WITHOUT A VEHICLE TO DRIVE FOR SEVERAL DAYS.
