THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM , ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL , EXTERIOR LIGHTING , SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC , VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TRANSMISSION BLEW WHILE DRIVING THROUGH TOWN. UNDER 100K MILES AND CAR HAD ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. CAR WILL NOT SHIFT AND WILL NOT REVERSE. *TR
I HAVE NOT 1 BUT 2 RECALLS ON MY 2007 AURA SATURN. THE ONE IN CONCERN IS THE BRAKE APPLY SENSOR WHICH CAUSES THE SERVICE BRAKE LAMP MALFUNCTION. WHEN I APPLY MY BRAKE THE LIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE AND WHEN I DO NOT APPLY THE BRAKES THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO ON. I HAVE BEEN ALMOST REAR ENDED TWICE IN THE PAST WEEK DUE TO MY BREAK LIGHTS NOT ILLUMINATING. I HAVE ALSO BEEN YELLED AT BY THE DRIVERS WHO HAVE ALMOST HIT ME BECAUSE THEY THINK MY BREAK LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING - WHICH THEY ARE RIGHT. I HAVE CALLED GM TO NO AVAIL. THEY TELL ME THEY ARE WAITING FOR THE PART TO BE MADE AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I RECEIVED MY RECALL NOTICE IN JULY 2014 AND IT IS NOW AUGUST 13, 2014 AND STILL THEY CAN NOT TELL ME WHEN THE PART WILL EVEN BE AVAILABLE. SO EVERY DAY I PUT MYSELF IN DANGER AND RISK MY LIFE ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT GM DOES NOT SEEM TO BE CONCERNED. I WONDER IF IT WERE THEIR CHILD BEHIND THE WHEEL IF THEY WOULD FEEL THE SAME WAY??????? CAR RAN FINE THIS MORNING ON THE WAY TO WORK, WHICH IS NOT EVEN 2 MILES FROM MY HOME .WENT TO WORK AND STRAIGHT BACK NO PROBLEM. GOT IN MY CAR THIS EVENING TO GO GET FOOD STARTED THE CAR, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON WENT TO PULL FORWARD AND THE CAR WAS JERKING AND MAKING KNOCKING NOISES... *TR
CAR BEGAN TO KNOCK LOUDLY ON DRIVER SIDE FRONT AND PULL TO LEFT WHEN DRIVING AT SPEED , FRONT STRUTS BROKEN & REPLACED A APPROX COST $700 5 DAYS FOLLOWING THAT , CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF 1ST GEAR OR ROLL FASTER THAN 15 MPH AT 5 TO 6000 RPM. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TWICE AND NOW WAITING TRANSMISSION REBUILD DUE TO WELL DOCUMENTED FAILURE OF GM WAVE PLATE IN THE 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION, COST APPROX = $3500. *TR
2007 SATURN AURA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR WOULD GO OUT, WHEN HIS WIFE SAT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. WHEN DRIVING, THE SENSOR LIGHT WOULD GO TO THE OFF POSITION, THEN BACK ON AND AFTER A WHILE TO OFF AGAIN. THE CONSUMER HAD THE PROBLEM BACK IN 2008, AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE SENSOR PAD IN THE PASSENGER SEAT UNDER WARRANTY.
FUEL SMELL, TOOK TO SATURN AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER, REPLACED FUEL PUMP AT A COST OF $1272.13. AFTERWARD, I FOUND ONLINE REPORTS OF POSSIBLE FUEL PUMP DEFECT FOR 2007 SATURN AURA BUT COULDN'T FIND INFORMATION TO VERIFY IF THE CAR QUALIFIES FOR ANY REPAIR OR REIMBURSEMENT. *TR
I WAS COMING TO A STREET TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN AND THE CAR BEHIND DID NOT REALIZE I WAS TURNING BECAUSE AS I APPLIED MY BRAKES THE BRAKE LIGHT TURNED OFF INSTEAD OF COMING ON. I HAVE COME TO REALIZE THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON WHEN DRIVING AND WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKE THEN THE BRAKE LIGHT IS OFF. A CAR BEHIND STOPPED AND TOLD ME OF THE INCIDENT AND ONLY SLOWED DOWN BECAUSE HE SAW MY TURN SIGNAL WAS ON. THIS INCIDENT COULD OF LEAD TO A SERIOUS REAR ENDING ACCIDENT AND COULD OF EVEN CAUSED A DEATH. I DID NOTICE AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT WAS ON. *TR
CLUNK, KNOCK OR RATTLE NOISE FROM FRONT OF VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING OR TURNING OVER BUMPS AT LOW SPEEDS. *JS
TOOK CAR IN FOR SERVICE AT WHICH TIME ALSO REQUESTED COOLING SYSTEM FLUSH, UNABLE TO HAVE DONE AS SERVICE DEPT. FOUND A LEAK AT THE CROSSOVER PIPE WHICH NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED ONCE THEY RECEIVE THE PARTS. I HAD THE CROSSOVER PIPE REPLACED AND RESEALED IN FEB. 2013 AT 54233 MILES. FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD NOT CONTINUE TO GO OUT EVERY YEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RETURN PORT OF THE FUEL PUMP WAS CRACKED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
I HAVE A 2007 SATURN AURA. I'M CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING THE ISSUE ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V252000 (RECALL # 13036). ADDITIONAL TO THIS ISSUE, I'M COMPLAINING THAT THIS ISSUE COULD BE ASSOCIATED WITH DRAINING MY CAR BATTERY. SINCE THIS ISSUE I HAVE REPLACED THREE (3) BRAND NEW BATTERIES. I HAD MY ALTERNATOR CHECKED TWICE AND BOTH TEST RESULTS DIAGNOSIS WAS PASSED. WHICH MEANS THAT MY ALTERNATOR IS GOOD AND DIDN'T NEED TO BE REPLACED. EACH TIME I HAVE MY BATTERY REPLACED WITH A BRAND NEW BATTERY THE LIFE SPAN OF THE BATTERY IS ABOUT 3 WEEKS. AFTER THAT THE BATTERY IS DEAD. IF I DON'T REPLACE THE BATTERY AND GET A JUMP START THE LIFE SPAN OF THE BATTERY LAST ABOUT 7-10 DAYS BEFORE I WILL NEED ANOTHER JUMP START. TODAY, AUGUST 9, 2014 I AGAIN HAD MY BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR DIAGNOSED AND BOTH PASSED THE TEST. I WAS TOLD BY A CERTIFIED GM MECHANIC THAT MY ISSUE COULD BE RELATED TO ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THAT IS DRAINING (KILLING) MY BATTERY BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BATTERY AND THE ALTERNATOR. COULD THIS ISSUE (14V252) BE THE REASON MY I'M EXPERIENCING MY BATTERY TO DIED/DRAIN BECAUSE OF MY CAR IS AFFECTED BY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL ISSUES? THE CONSUMER STATED THE SHIFTING CABLE WAS REPLACED TWICE AND THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. UPDATED 2/24/2015 *JS *TR
I TIRED TO START ME CAR TODAY BUT IT DID NOT START, SO I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL THAN THE CAR STARTED UP. PASSENGER AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT WORKS INTERMITTENTLY WHEN A PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT. AN APPROX 125 LBS PERSON SITS IN THE SEAT AND IT GOES ON FOR A BIT AND THEN BACK OFF. CONCERNED THAT IT AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY IN AN ACCIDENT IF THE SENSOR IS NOT WORKING. AFTER READING VARIOUS FORUMS, IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE SATURN AURA ONCE OVER 50K MILES. *TR
JULY 2014 - SATURN AURA 2007 PROBLEM: SERVICE LIGHT TURNED ON WHEN STARTING CAR CALLED GM DEALERSHIP TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT; CAR WAS NOT DRIVEN UNTIL APPOINTMENT WHEN STARTING THE CAR, THE LIGHT WAS OUT INSPECTION: SERVICE DEPARTMENT ADVISOR NOTED: THE PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE (?TROUBLE CODES B0081 3A AND B0081 71) CONSIDERED A SAFETY HAZARD PASSENGER AIR BAG MAY MALFUNCTION ON IMPACT REPAIRS: ?REPLACED MODULE AND CONNECTOR AND HEAT PAD (FOLLOWED BULLETIN 10-0941-003A) ?IN ADDITION, CUSTOMER HAD RECEIVED AN "OPEN" RECALL FOR A TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE FRACTURE; WORK REQUIRED BY RECALL COMPLETED. COMPLAINT - MODULE DEFECT: THERE IS A SAFETY HAZARD ASSOCIATED WITH THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. OWNER'S MANUAL CAUTION THE AIR BAG SYSTEM MAY NOT PERFORM IN A CRASH?AND SHOULD BE SERVICED?WITHOUT DELAY. ACCORDING TO OTHER COMPLAINTS ON YOUR WEBSITE, THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON OCCURRENCE OR AN ISOLATED INCIDENT IN SOME GM MODELS. THE HIGH COST FOR CORRECTING THIS GM MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN IMPOSED ON THE OWNERS AND IS BEYOND THE OWNER'S RESPONSIBILITY FOR STANDARD REPAIRS AND UPKEEP FOR SAFETY ISSUES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS MALFUNCTION, THERE SHOULD BE A MANDATED RECALL. *TR
AS I WAS CROSSING RAILROAD TRACKS THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF. I LOOKED AT THE IGNITION AND IT HAD TURNED OUT OF THE ON POSITION. I HAVE NO EXTRA KEYS ON THE KEY CHAIN. *JS
RANDOM ERROR WARNING MESSAGES KEEP APPEARING ON MY DISPLAY CENTER, IE. AIRBAG NEEDS SERVICE, DOOR AJAR, STABILITY CONTROL NEEDS SERVICE, ETC. OVERHEAD DOME LIGHTS STAY ON UNTIL SHUT OFF BY THE BATTERY SAVER AFTER 20 MIN., THESE ARE CAUSED BY THE MALFUNCTIONING "BODY CONTROL MODULE".
WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE THE BREAK LIGHTS STAY ON CRIUSE CONTROL DON'T WORK
RECEIVED 2 RECALL NOTICES, RECALL # 14152; AND RECALL # 13036. RECALL# 14152, HAS BEEN REPLACED I'M ASSUMING. MY CONCERN IS THAT MY VEHICLE ACCELERATES AT AN HIGHER SPEED THAN WHAT I'M DRIVING, THE RPM DIAL SHOOTS UP TO 5 OR 6 ON THE RPM DIAL THEN GRADUALLY GO DOWN TO 1. WHEN I AM AT AN COMPLETE STOP, MY VEHICLE IS SLOW ABOUT ACCELERATING, WHICH CAN BE SCARY BECAUSE PEOPLE BEHIND ME ARE DRIVING FASTER THAN I'M MOVING, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY VEHICLE ACCELERATES AT A HIGHER SPEED THAN I'M DRIVING. I PRAY THAT THIS RECALL WILL RESOLVE THIS ISSUE I AM AN 65 YEAR OLD LADY, WITH 2 GRANDCHILDREN THAT I TAKE ON DIFFERENT EVENTS. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT AN POTENTIAL SAFETY DEFAULT IN MY VEHICLE COULD CAUSE AN FATAL ACCIDENT TO MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE ESPECIALLY MY GRANDCHILDREN. ONE DAY PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT (7/5/14) WE NOTICED A TRANSMISSION SLIP SLIGHTLY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM WHAT I BELIEVE WAS 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. ON SUNDAY (7/6/14), WHILE WE WERE DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP IT WOULD NO LONGER SHIFT AT ALL. WE HAD TO PUSH IT OFF THE ROAD AND HAVE A TOW TRUCK TAKE IT TO THE NEAREST GM DEALERSHIP. ONCE DIAGNOSED IT WAS DISCOVERED THE TRANSMISSION WAVE PLATE HAD FAILED AND WOULD COST $4200 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THERE IS CURRENTLY A TSB (TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN) ON THIS ISSUE, BUT NO RECALL. I KNOW THERE MUST BE SUBSTANTIAL ISSUES WITH THIS SINCE MY MOTHER'S SATURN AURA WITH THE SAME TRANSMISSION HAD A WAVE PLATE FAILURE 3 WEEKS AGO, ALTHOUGH HER'S WAS STILL UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND THUS COVERED. WE CURRENTLY HAVE A CASE # WITH GM CUSTOMER SERVICE, BUT HAVE YET TO RECEIVE ANY RESOLUTION FROM THE DEALERSHIP OR GM/SATURN CORPORATE. *JS

HAD TO REPLACE A FAULTY FUEL PUMP THAT CRACKED AT THE FUEL LINE PORT AND CAUSED GASOLINE TO LEAK FROM THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY AND POSSIBLY CAUSE A FIRE. VERY SIMILAR TO AN OPEN RECALL ON 2007 SATURN IONS, BUT THERE IS CURRENTLY NO RECALL AGAINST THE AURA FUEL SYSTEM... *TR

BRAKE LIGHTS MALFUNCTION ON THE 2007 SATURN AURA. DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS ENGAGE - THEN PRESS THE BRAKE AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS TURN OFF . . . REVERSE OF HOW THEY SHOULD WORK. WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON THEY MAY OR MAY NOT STAY ON - IT IS UNPREDICTABLE. A RECALL IS LISTED ONLINE (GM RECALL NUMBER 13036; NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V252000). CALLING GM (1.800.462.8782) AND SATURN (1.800.553.6000) RESULTED IN NO HELP - THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THE RECALL BUT HAVE NOT ASSOCIATED VINS OR RELEASED IT TO DEALERS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE RELEASED IMMEDIATELY AND WHEN VEHICLES ARE IDENTIFIED TO HAVE THIS ISSUE THEY SHOULD BE CLEARED TO BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY UNDER THE WARRANTY. *TR

MY CAR HAS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS RELATED TOTHE CONNECTOR FOR THE COMPUTER INSIDE THE DASH JUST AS NOTED UNDER NHTSA RECALL# 14V252000. I AM CERTAIN THIS IS THE PROBLEM BECAUSE FOLLOWING ADVICE I FOUND ONLINE BEFORE THE RECALL WAS ISSUED I USED AN ELECTRONICS CLEANER ON THE CONNECTOR AND IT HELPED BUT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. MY BRAKE LIGHTS EITHER DON'T WORK OR STICK ON. MY LEFT TURN SIGNAL DOESN'T WORK. IF I DISCONNECT AND RECONNECT THE PLUG SEVERAL TIMES IN SEEMS TO MAKE IT WORK BUT ONLY FOR A SHORT WHILE SO I KNOW FOR SURE THIS IS THE PROBLEM. I HAD JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM A DEALER AND LESS THEN THREE HOURS AFTER DRIVING IT OFF THE LOT I WAS IN TRAFFIC IN THE TWIN CITIES AND THE ENGINE GAVE OUT ON ME. I HAD BRAKED BECAUSE OF A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AND WENT TO ACCELERATE AND NOTHING HAPPENED. LUCKILY THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME, ON 35W, DIDN'T HIT ME AS I WAS STUCK AT 35MPH AND CRAWLED OFF OF THE ROAD. I DO A GOOD AMOUNT OF CITY DRIVING AND THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO ME IN A MUCH WORSE POSSIBLE SCENARIO. I GOT THE ERROR CODES P0700 P0776 FROM THE ENGINE, TURNS OUT THAT MY WAVE PLATE BROKE AND THAT THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO SATURN CARS FOR YEARS AND THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL. I COULD HAVE EASILY GOT IN A CAR ACCIDENT AND DIED WHEN THIS HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE. IT COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN PREVENTED TOO. I'VE BEEN CONNED OUT OF A LOT OF MONEY BY GM ON THIS VEHICLE, BUT I'M ALSO HAPPY JUST TO BE ALIVE. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SHE WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE AND IT CONTINUED TO ROLL FORWARD ALTHOUGH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V224000 (TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 141,365.
I WAS TRAVELING AT 55 MPH AND EXITING THE EXPRESSWAY WHEN THE CAR DRAMATICALLY SLOWED AND THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO 1ST GEAR. RPMS JUMPED EXTREMELY HIGH AND THE CARS TRANSMISSION WOULD REMAIN IN FIRST GEAR. LUCKILY I WAS EXITING AT THE TIME OR WHO KNOWS WHAT THE CONSEQUENCES MAY HAVE BEEN. THE CAR NO LONGER SHIFTS IN REVERSE AND REMAINS IN 1ST GEAR. I CONTACTED GM AND REPORTED THE INCIDENT BUT STATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS REFLECTING THIS PROBLEM. WAVE PLATE SHIFTER CABLE? I AM NOW AWAITING AN APPOINTMENT AT A LOCAL BUICK DEALER TO DETERMINE THE DAMAGE DONE TO MY TRANSMISSION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING I GOT AN ENGINE LIGHT, THEN A SERVICE ESC THEN A SERVICE TRACTION. I CONTACTED ONSTAR FOR A DIAGNOSTIC (AFTER I RETURNED HOME). I THEN HAD IT TOWED TO A GARAGE WHERE THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT AFTER REPLACING A SENSOR THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTED AND WAS DUE TO A STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN. HE THEN SAID HE THOUGHT THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN A RECALL CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. I HAVE HAD ISSUES PRIOR TO THIS AND GOT NO SATISFACTION FROM THE DEALER SERVICE CENTER IN SANTA ROSA CA. I EVEN FILED A COMPLAINT WITH SATURN. *TR

ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAILING AND THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE EMITTING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHEN HE ACCELERATED UP AN INCLINE. A SMALL GAS SPOT FORMED UNDER THE VEHICLE, WHEN THE TANK WAS FULL. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE LEAK WAS FROM FILLING THE FUEL TANK FULL. ANOTHER DEALER, STATED THE ISSUE WAS WITH THE FUEL PUMP.*JB
THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG LIGHT INDICATING THAT IT IS OFF COMES ON WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, REGARDLESS OF OCCUPANCY IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. ALSO, THE 'AIR BAG PROBLEM' INDICATION, ALONG WITH A WARNING 'BEEP' COMES ON AT THE SAME TIME, ON THE DASH DISPLAY UNIT. THIS CAN BE REMOVED BY PRESSING THE PROPER BUTTON ON THE STEERING WHEEL, ALLOWING THE ODOMETER TO BE SEEN. TO MY KNOWLEDGE, YOU HAVE NOT ASKED FOR A RECALL, AND I SEE NO TSB'S ABOUT THIS APPARENTLY WIDESPREAD PROBLEM IN 2007 SATURN AURAS. OURS HAS HEATED SEATS, WHICH, I UNDERSTAND WILL MAKE THE REPAIR MORE DIFFICULT AND EXPENSIVE. I FOUND AN ARTICLE ON-LINE REGARDING THE NTSB INVESTIGATING BRAKE LIGHT PROBLEMS WITH CHEVY MALIBU AND SATURN AURA'S. MY 2007 SATURN AURA HAS THE SAME ISSUE. ON OCCASIONS THE BRAKE LIGHT WILL BE "REVERSED" THE BRAKE LIGHT WILL BE ON WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT PRESSED, THEN THEY WILL GOT OFF ONCE THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED. THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS ON 5/26/14. I AM AWARE OF IT HAPPENING ANOTHER 6-7 TIMES IN THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS. *TR
VEHICLE HAS BEEN STUTTERING DURING SHIFTING FOR ABOUT A WEEK. AS OF THREE DAYS AGO IT WOULD NOT GO INTO 3RD GEAR OR OVER 40MPH. TODAY IT STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO A SAFE LOCATION, BUT NOW IT WILL NOT REVERSE, GO INTO ANY GEARS OR EVEN GO TO NEUTRAL. *TR
I ARRIVED AT DRIVEWAY TO MY HOME AND PUT THE CAR INTO PARK. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND CLOSED DRIVER DOOR TO UNLOCK CHAIN ON GATE IN FRONT OF DRIVEWAY. I PROCEEDED TO MANUALLY OPEN THE 25' METAL GATE. WHEN THE GATE WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY OPEN I TURNED TOWARDS THE CAR AND TO MY SURPRISE THE CAR WAS MOVING FORWARD WITH NO ONE IN IT. THE CAR TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 15' AND WAS STOPPED BY A 3' DIAMETER METAL CYLINDER. THE CARS FRONT BUMPER WAS DAMAGED. LUCKILY, NO PERSONS WERE INJURED. *TR
I'VE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE. THE CAR WOULD JOLT WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE, I HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR 2 MONTHS BEFORE THE INCIDENT HAPPENED. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY MY CAR SLOWED TO ABOUT 15-20 MPH AND WAS NOT ACCELERATING ANYMORE, IT WAS MAKING A LOUD SOUND. I ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN SPEED DECREASE. I PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY AND MY CAR WOULDNT GO PAST 20 MPH WITHOUT THIS LOUD SOUND AND WOULD ALSO NOT GO IN REVERSE, SO I PULLED OVER AND HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL AUTO SHOP. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AND WOULD NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION FOR $3800K. MY CAR IS ONLY 7 YEARS OLD AND HAS 64K MILES. I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THIS ISSUE. *JS

SHE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER SEVERAL TIMES REGARDING THE PROBLEM, AND THAT WAS HOW SHE FOUND OUT ABOUT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. GM ISSUED EXTENDED WARRANTIES, ON 4 CYLINDER MODELS, BUT NOT 6 CYLINDERS MODELS. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THAT WAS UNFAIR, BECAUSE HER VEHICLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. "SERVICE AIRBAGS" LIGHT CAME ON 5/12/14. OWNER'S MANUAL LISTS THIS AS POTENTIAL HAZARD AS AIRBAGS MAY FAIL TO DEPLOY OR DEPLOY WITHOUT WARNING. TOOK VEHICLE TWO BLOCKS FROM MY HOME TO SERVICE STATION STATION ON 5/13/14, BUT STATION SAID THEY DO NOT WORK ON AIRBAGS. TOOK VEHICLE HOME AND PARKED IT. SENT E-MAIL TO SATURN'S CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER ON 5/14/14, AND EVENTUALLY SPOKE TO A SUPERVISOR ON 5/17/14. HE SAID THAT IN ORDER FOR GM TO DO ANYTHING, I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP IN FAIRFAX, VA. I EXPLAINED THAT I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT I SHOULD SPEND ANY MORE MONEY ON THE VEHICLE AS I FEEL THAT IT IS DEFECTIVE. THE SUPERVISOR SAID THAT HE WOULD ARRANGE FOR TOWING AND GM WOULD PAY FOR IT. HE ALSO STATED THAT I WOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR REPAIRS OR COMPENSATED FOR THE LOSS OF THE USE OF THE VEHICLE AND THAT HE WOULD WORK WITH ME "EVERY STEP OF THE WAY." ON 5/20/14, I CALLED FOR THE SUPERVISOR AND SOMEONE ELSE RETURNED MY CALL. WHEN I REQUESTED THAT GM PROVIDE ME WITH A WRITTEN DOCUMENT AS TO HOW THEY INTENDED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE, I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WOULD HAVE TO BE DISCUSSED WITH THE SUPERVISOR AND THEN THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME. THEY DID NOT CALL ME BACK ALL DAY MONDAY. I CALLED AND LEFT A MESSAGE ON 5/21/14 AND THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED TO ME IN ANY WAY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED IN MY LOT SINCE 5/13/14 AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF MY OWN HISTORY WITH IT AND THE RECENT SPATE OF RECALLS FOR SIMILAR ISSUES THAT HAVE INVOLVED INJURY AND DEATH. 1ST THE DAY BEFORE. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, FATHER IN LAW JACKED UP AND JUMP STARTED THE STARTER CAR STARTED AND MOVED FORWARD AS IN DRIVE. JACK FELL AND CAR FELL ON FATHER IN LAW UNDER THE CAR AND CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD WHILE IN PARK AND RAN OVER HIS BODY. I LEARNED AFTER INCIDENT GMC PUT A RECALL ON THE GEAR CABLE.JUST THE DAY BEFORE THE INCIDENT. I HAD CAR TOWED TO FMC AND THEY TELL METHIS CAR HAS NO RECALLS. IT IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND PUBLISHED BY THE NEW YORK TIMES ON MAY 6, 2914. PASSENGER AIR BAG ON/OFF INDICATOR INTERMITTENTLY TURNS TO "OFF" EVEN WITH A PASSENGER WEIGHING IN EXCESS OF 150 POUNDS IN THE SEAT. STOPPING AND RESTARTING THE CAR SOMETIMES CORRECTS THE ISSUE TEMPORARILY. RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A COMMONLY REPORTED PROBLEM AND THAT, IN FACT, THE SYSTEM WILL MALFUNCTION IN AN ACCIDENT. DUE TO THE DANGEROUS NATURE OF THIS FAILURE, THERE SHOULD BE A REQUIRED RECALL FROM GM. *TR
TRANSMISSION JUMPING INTO NEUTRAL FROM FIRST GEAR AND VERY DIFFICULT TO GET BACK INTO GEAR. FINALLY GET INTO SECOND GEAR AND IT JUMPED BACK INTO NEUTRAL..CALLED GM AND WAS TOLD NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL AS MINE IS 6 SPEED (4 SPEED TRANSMISSION ONLY WERE RE-CALLED) AND TOO BAD THAT THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRED IN APRIL 2012. NOT EVEN 100,000 MILES ON IT. DEALERSHIP SAID DEFINITELY INTERNAL PROBLEM POSSIBLY AN INTERNAL POWER SOLENOID ISSUE BUT WOULD TAKE MANY HOURS AND LOT MORE MONEY TO DIAGNOSE. ASKED ABOUT THE AFTER WARRANTY COVERAGE AND WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP NO GUARANTEE I WOULD QUALIFY AND AGAIN IT WOULD COST ME SEVERAL HUNDRED MORE TO TAKE APART AND DIAGNOSE. ENDED UP BUYING A GM RE-MANUFACTURED AT $4500. NORMAL CITIZENS DO NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY FOR REPAIRS WHEN IT IS KNOWN ISSUE BY GM THAT THE SATURN AURA'S HAVE SEVERE PROBLEMS WITH THAT TRANSMISSION. PLEASE ISSUE RECALL ON THIS TRANSMISSION.
