TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD MOVE FORWARD WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN I.D. NUMBER: 12V460000 (POWER TRAIN) AND CALLED THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER OR MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED VIOLENTLY AND THE GEARS FAILED TO SHIFT PROPERLY FROM THE GEAR BOX. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V224000 (POWER TRAIN) AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V460000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN NO ONE IS STEPPING ON THE BRAKES AND THE HIGH-MOUNT STOPLAMP WILL WORK SOMETIMES AND NOT OTHER TIMES. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS SIMILAR TO THE PROBLEM THAT PROMPTED GM TO RECALL THE PONTIAC G6 (THE "SISTER" CAR TO THE AURA) IN 2009. I DON'T KNOW HOW LONG THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING ON OUR CAR, BUT WE FIRST NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON WHEN NO ONE WAS STEPPING ON THE PEDAL THIS MORNING. MY WIFE NORMALLY DRIVES THE CAR AND STATED THAT SHE HAS EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WHERE THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT SET (SHE HAS EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL YEARS ALREADY). IT WOULD MAKE SENSE THAT IF THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON, THE CONTROL MODULE WOULD NOT ALLOW THE CRUISE TO BE SET. *TR
HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE TIMING CHAIN ON MY 2007 SATURN AURA WITH ONLY 22,232 MILES. WHY WASN'T THERE A RECALL FOR THIS SINCE THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS. IT WILL COST $1200 TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN, MONEY I JUST DON'T HAVE. *TR
INTERMITTENTLY THE BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK THE BRAKE LIGHT REMAINS ON. WHEN THEE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE, THE BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON. WHEN ACCELERATING, THE BRAKE LIGHT REMAINS ON. OTHER SYMPTOMS MAY INCLUDE EXTENDED PEDAL TRAVEL REQUIRED TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK AND CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY. *JS
THIS IS MY 2ND COMPLAINT REGARDING THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON MY VEHICLE. 1ST INCIDENT OCCURRED IN THE EVENING WHEN I NOTICED THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THEY WERE DOING THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO DO. WHEN ACCELERATING, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE LIT UP ....WHEN PRESSING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO NOTIFY THOSE BEHIND ME THAT I WOULD BE SLOWING DOWN AND/OR COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE, THEREFORE, POTENTIALLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.. 9/24/13- I CONTACTED GROSSINGER CHEVROLET IN PALATINE, IL & SCHEDULED TO BRING MY CAR IN THAT SAME MORNING FOR EVALUATION & POSSIBLE REPAIRS. I JUST PURCHASED THESE VEHICLE MID-AUGUST 2013. A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS DONE & REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE TUNE OF CLOSE TO $1,000! WAS TOLD THE ISSUE WAS BCM RELATED & THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY WASN'T GOING TO COVER THIS, WHICH IS ANOTHER ISSUE I AM ADDRESSING. NOT 2 WEEKS GOES BY & IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN!! I IMMEDIATELY CALLED GROSSINGER, SPOKE TO THE SAME SERVICE MANAGER THAT TOOK CARE OF ME THE LAST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER - HE KNEW I WOULD BE CALLING & SAID VERBATIM, "THE MECHANIC THAT REPAIRED (OR I THOUGHT) YOUR VEHICLE TOLD ME YOU WOULD BE RETURNING FOR THE SAME PROBLEM"... SINCE THEN, THERE'S BEEN 3 OTHER INSTANCES IN WHICH OTHER DRIVERS MADE ME AWARE MY BRAKE LIGHTS WEREN'T WORKING PROPERLY - AGAIN, ALL INSTANCES ABOVE, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE DOING JUST THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO DO, THE MOST RECENT BEING TODAY, 10/13/2013. POWER STEERING FAILED MID-TURN. POWER STEERING LINE CONTACTED HOT EXHAUST, WHICH BURNED A HOLE IN THE HYDRAULIC HOSE. FAILURE WAS IMMEDIATE. CAR WAS NOT CONTROLLABLE. LUCKILY, NO ONE WAS IN THE PATH OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED DESPITE THE BRAKE PEDAL NOT BEING DEPRESSED. WHEN THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD STOP ILLUMINATING. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN MY 2007 SATURN AURA XR. I HAD THE CODES CHECKED OUT AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CAM SENSORS WERE BAD. I HAD THEM REPLACED WITH THE CRANKCASE POSITION SENSOR. AFTER REPLACEMENT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND REMAINS. I HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THAT THE "TIMING CHAIN WAS STRETCHED AND WOULD NEED REPLACEMENT. MY MECHANIC SUGGESTED THAT I GET RID OF THE CAR BECAUSE OF THE COST OF REPAIR. THIS OCCURRED JUST AFTER MY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY WAS UP. IS THERE ANY RECOURSE WITH GENERAL MOTORS REGARDING THE REPAIR COSTS OF MY VEHICLE. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR SOMETIME EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL LAST MONTH. THANK YOU FOR ANY INFORMATION THAT YOU MAY BE ABLE TO GIVE ME. 2007 SATURN AURA STORED INDOORS ALWAYS.40,964 MILES ONLY.1METAL BELT EXPOSED. REPLACED 2 TIRES. 5MOS LATER BELT SEPARATION IN SAME BRAND TIRE. AUTO PRESSURE CHECK SYSTEM (COMPUTER HAS OBSERVED CORRECT TIRE PRESSURE FOR LIFE OF TIRE). TIRES STILL LOOK NEW PLENTY OF TREAD (AT LEAST1/4"). *TR
I RECENTLY NOTICE THE SMELL OF GASOLINE EMANATING FROM MY VEHICLE. I INITIALLY CHECKED THE FUNCTION AND FIT OF GAS CAP. I REMOVED TO ENGINE COVER AND STARTED THE VEHICLE TO INSPECT FUEL LINES IN THE ENGINE BAY AREA AS WELL AS THE AREA OF AND THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM ITSELF TO THE MANIFOLD. ALL THE ABOVE INSPECTIONS PRODUCED NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF FUEL LEAKAGE. I LIFTED THE VEHICLE TO INSPECT THE FUEL SYSTEM FROM THE FIREWALL AREA TO THE FUEL TANK. AGAIN, NO OBVIOUS SIGNS OF LEAKAGE. AT THE FUEL TANK THE SMELL WAS MORE INTENSE BUT STILL NOTHING OBVIOUS. DUE TO THE POSITION OF THE FUEL TANK, INSPECTION OF THE TOP HALF WAS NOT POSSIBLE WITH MY TOOL AVAILABILITY. YET THE INTENSITY OF THE SMELL IN THE FUEL TANK AREA GAVE A STRONG INDICATION OF A LEAK AT THE TANK. UPON A SEARCH ONLINE FOR POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS, I FOUND THAT THE 2007 SATURN ION HAS A FUEL PUMP RECALL FOR EXACTLY THIS ISSUE AND IT SPECIFIES ARIZONA AS AN IMPACT STATE. I TRULY BELIEVE MY AURA IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME TROUBLES ASSOCIATED WITH THE FUEL PUMP ISSUE OF THE ION. I HAVE MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE ISSUE DIAGNOSED AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. WHILE SEARCHING ONLINE I FOUND SEVERAL POSTING BY OTHER AURA OWNERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM. OF THOSE WHO PAID FOR RESOLUTION, ALL FOUND THE LEAK STEMMED FROM A CRACKED PLASTIC FITTING AT THE FUEL PUMP. THE REASON BEHIND THE ION RECALL. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO EXPAND THE RECALL TO OTHER GM VEHICLES BEFORE A DANGEROUS ISSUE ARISES AND SOMEONE IS INJURED. I CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX MY VEHICLE AT THIS TIME YET I MUST TRAVEL DAILY TO AND FROM WORK. I PRAY THAT EITHER I CAN AFFORD RESOLUTION MYSELF, OR THE NHTSA FINDS RESOLVE FOR AURA OWNERS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR A VEHICLE RECEIVES MAJOR DAMAGE DUE TO THIS FUEL LEAK PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A RECALL REPAIR WAS COMPLETED BY THE DEALER AND THE FAILURE RECURRED MONTHS LATER. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL FEATURE FAILED TO WORK AND, WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE. THE BRAKE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHEN IT WAS NOT APPLIED. THE MANUFACTURER'S RECALL REMEDY DID NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO REMEDY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000. UPDATED 02/05/16*LJ *CN
THREE PROBLEMS SEEM TO HAVE OCCURRED AROUND THE SAME TIME: 1) THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT BEING DEPRESSED AND WILL NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS BEING PRESSED; 2) THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT ENGAGE; AND 3) SOMETIMES THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE GEAR SELECTOR OUT OF PARK IS TO PRESS DOWN VERY HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. *TR
PASSENGER AIR BAG TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING. THE DASH LIGHT COMES ON INDICATING THE AIR BAG IS OFF. HAPPENED MOST TIMES WE DROVE THE CAR AND AT ANY SPEED. OCCASIONALLY THE SERVICE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD ALSO COME ON INDICATING BOTH FRONT AIR BAGS WEREN'T WORKING. I TOOK THE CAR TO OUR DEALER AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND NEED TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG SENSOR FOR APPROXIMATELY $1200. ALSO WAS TOLD THERE IS NO SAFETY RECALL FOR THIS WHICH I FIND IS INCREDIBLE. WE HAD THE WORK DONE AND HOPE GM WILL PERFORM A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED. *TR
FIRST NOTICED CRUISE DISENGAGED WHILE DRIVING AND WOULD NOT RE-ENGAGE. CRUISE CORRECTED ITSELF AFTER TRYING IT AFTER SEVERAL MILES. SECOND, A FEW WEEKS LATER, CRUISE QUIT FUNCTIONING AGAIN, THIS TIME I NOTICED THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON WHILE NOT TOUCHING BRAKE PETAL. WHEN APPLYING BRAKE PETAL THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OFF, AND THEN THEY WILL COME ON WHEN THE PETAL IS RELEASED. DROVE 60 MILES THIS WAY IN THE DARK. WHEN I REACHED DESTINATION IT WAS DAWN LIGHT AND CAR WAS RUNNING IN PARK. THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE OFF AND RUNNING LIGHTS ON. WHEN I HIT BRAKE PETAL THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD FUNCTION AS NORMAL. I DON'T KNOW IF CRUISE WAS WORKING SINCE I WAS PARKED. PERSONAL THOUGHT; COULD BRAKE LIGHT ISSUE ONLY BE RELATED WHILE THE AUTO HEADLAMPS ARE FUNCTIONING? MY INVESTIGATION LED TO MANY HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS AROUND THE INTERNET ABOUT ALL OF THE SAME PROBLEMS HAPPENING AT THE SAME TIME ON SATURN AURA, CHEVY MALIBU, AND PONTIAC G6. IE BRAKE LIGHTS OPERATING IN REVERSE OF INTENDED DESIGN, CRUISE CONTROL NOT WORKING, AND ALSO TRANSMISSION NOT SHIFTING INTO OR OUT OF GEAR BY THE SELECTOR LEAVER. HOWEVER, I AM NOT NOTICING A SHIFTER ISSUE AT THIS TIME. HUGE SAFETY HAZARD THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE FUNCTIONING IN REVERSE OF NORMAL DESIGN. HOWEVER, ALL OF THE SYMPTOMS SEEM TO BE RELATED AND HAPPENING AT THE SAME TIME. I ALSO FOUND A TECHNICAL BULLETIN NO.: 08-05-22-009 WITH ALL OF THESE RELATED PROBLEMS. HAD TO REPLACE FUEL PUMP DUE TO GAS LEAK AND SMELL. *TR
FIRST IT WAS MY GEAR SHIFT, I HAD TO GET IT FIXED BACK IN MAY OF THIS YEAR 2013 BECAUSE WHEN I TRIED TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, AND DID NOT PARK AT ALL, MATTER OF FACT, WHEN I PLACED THE CAR IN PARK IT STARTED REVERSING, LITERALLY GOING BACKWARDS. I GOT IT FIXED BUT YET THERE SEEMS TO STILL BE ISSUES WITH THE GEAR SHIFT, JUST HASN'T BEEN THE SAME. NOW WHEN I DRIVE MY BRAKE LIGHTS STAYS ON, BUT WHEN I PRESS ON THE BRAKES MY BRAKE LIGHTS SHUTS OFF. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, AND ALSO INSIDE MY CAR THE LIGHTS SEEM TO FLICKER ON MY DASH BOARD AND EVERYWHERE ELSE LIGHTS ARE IN THE CAR SO I'M ASSUMING THAT'S A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. I HAD NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION BEFORE THIS. THEN ONE DAY I WAS JUST DRIVING A COUPLE OF MILE TO THE BANK. ON THE WAY THERE, MY 2007 SATURN AURA SEEMED TO KICK AND I EXPERIENCED SOME HARD SHIFTING. ON THE WAY BACK, I STARTED TO LOSE POWER AT TIMES AND THE CAR WAS HAVING TROUBLE SHIFTING GEARS. I BARELY MADE IT HOME AND GOT IT INTO PARK. THE NEXT DAY I HAD THE CAR TOWED 5 MILES TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO RECOMMENDED TRANSMISSION TEAR-DOWN INSPECTION, PLUS DIAGNOSTICS & COMPUTER SCAN REVEALED CODES P0717 - INPUT SPEED SENSOR, P0756 - SHIFT SOLENOID B PERFORMANCE STUCK OFF, P0989-TPF SWITCH 5 CIRCUIT LOW VOLUME, P0016, P0017, P0018, P0019 VARIABLE TIMING ACTUATOR, P0300 - ENGINE MISFIRE, P0455 EVAP LEAK, P0690 ENGINE CONTROL, P0700 -TRANSMISSION CONTROLS. I PAID $650 TO HAVE 4 NEW SPEED SENSOR/SOLENOID, VARIABLE TIMING ACTUATORS INSTALLED, BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T GET OUT OF 3RD GEAR SO I HAD THE CAR TOWED 25MI TO THE CLOSEST GMC SATURN/CHEVY DEALERSHIP FOR THE TRANSMISSION WORK SINCE I WAS GIVEN $4K - $6K ESTIMATES FOR THE BALANCE OF THE WORK LOCALLY. AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY LOOKED AT IT AND AFTER A WEEK, THEY REPLACED CP $1,328.11??,INTERNAL PRESSURE SENSOR SOLENOID FAILED, REPLACED TRANS CONTROL MODULE AND AFTER PAYING OVER $1,050.00 OF THE $2,167.34 BILL, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE TIMING BELT WAS STRETCHED, AND I NEEDED TO DRIVE IT TENDERLY BUT THAT IT WASN'T WORTH PAYING TO HAVE THE CHAIN REPLACED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD REMAIN ON. I DROVE IT HOME AND THE NEXT MORNING THE CAR STILL WOULDN'T GET OUT OF 3RD GEAR. I HAD TO DRIVE THE 25 MILES BACK TO THE DEALER AT 40MPH ON BACK ROADS WHICH TOOK 2 HOURS. I CALLED GM TO REDUCE THE REPAIR COSTS AND FINALLY GOT MY CAR BACK OCT. 7, 2013 IN A DRIVABLE STATE - CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON AND SHIFTING WAS ROUGH. MY PROBLEM IS NOW I CAN'T REGISTER MY CAR OR PASS SMOG WITHOUT SPENDING ANOTHER $2K-$5K. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 SATURN AURA XE MY PROBLEM IS THE SEAT MOTORS HOUSING DRIVER SIDE ARE STARTING TO COME APART WHEN I MOVE SEAT UP/DOWN THE PARTS MAKE A GRINDING NOISE AND THE FRAME IS POKING THROUGH THE SEAT ON THE LEFT BACK SIDE LOWER CUSHION THAT IS STICKING ME IN THE BUTT WHEN I GET INTO CAR .ALSO THE FRONT BRAKES GET REALLY SHAKY WHEN I HAVE TO STOP SUDDENLY ON ROUGH ROADS PEDAL SEEMS TO GO TO FLOOR AND BRAKES MAKE LOUD CLUNKING NOISE ITS A LITTLE SCARY TO SAY THE LEAST. ALSO THE POST FOR MY GAS CAP THAT ALLOWS THE DOOR TO POP OPEN FELL APART THE PIN FELL INTO THE MOUNTING HOLE AND WHOLE ASSEMBLY IS COMING APART. *TR

ON JULY 4TH 2013 WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, I COULD FEEL A HARD KICK ON THE TRANSMISSION THIS WENT ON UNTIL SATURDAY JULY 6TH, ACCELERATING TO MERGE TO TRAFFIC ON ROUTE 50 CHANTILLY VIRGINIA THE CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED TO ACCELERATE AND DECELERATE RAPIDLY IT WAS LIKE A WHILE BRONCO RIDE THEN WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD OR ENGAGE ANY GEARS. I HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE. RECENTLY, IT WAS ANNOUNCED THAT GM WAS RECALLING MILLIONS OF CHEVY IMPALAS GOING BACK TO 2003 BECAUSE OF PASSENGER AIR BAG PROBLEMS. IF GM HAS TO RECALL 2003 IMPALAS THEN THEY SHOULD ALSO RECALL & FIX 2007 SATURN AURAS WITH AIR BAG PROBLEMS - PEOPLES LIVES ARE AT STAKE IN BOTH CASES. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK, IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, WHEN I ACCELERATED AFTER BEING AT A STOP LIGHT. JUST AS I STARTED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I COULD TELL THE ENGINE WAS RACING BUT I WAS GOING NO WHERE. I MANAGED TO DRIFT OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK. THE CAR WON'T GO FORWARD OR REVERSE. DEALER NOW PUTTING IN A NEW TRANSMISSION AT $3000. VERY SCARY SITUATION AND NOW THAT I HAVE GONE ONLINE AND SEEN HOW MANY OTHER SATURN AURO'S HAD TO REPLACE TRANSMISSIONS I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY GM HASN'T HAD A RECALL/REIMBURSEMENT. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO OPERATE. THE ENGINE POWER WAS ALSO REDUCED TO ALMOST 0 AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AND I WAS FORTUNATE THAT I WAS IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA AT A LOWER RATE OF SPEED. THE DIAGNOSIS BY THE REPAIR SHOP WAS A FAILED WAVE PLATE IN THE TRANSMISSION WHICH SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE FOR THIS TRANSMISSION. THIS IS A SEVERE ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS BASED ON WHEN THE TRANSMISSION PART WERE TO FAIL. *TR

WINDSHIELD WIPERS WEAR OUT QUICKLY AND DO NOT WIPE WATER OFF OF DRIVER SIDE GLASS WELL. RADIO AND SPEAKERS ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONING. LETTERING RUBBED OFF ON FUNCTIONAL BUTTONS ON STEERING WHEEL AND DOORS. AIR BAG LIGHT MALFUNCTION. HOOD OF CAR DEVELOPED WEATHER SPOTS. INSULATION AT THE TOP OF FRONT WINDOW WORN OUT. *TR

VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 20MPH AND WOULD NOT GO IN REVERSE AT ALL. ACCORDING TO REPAIR FACILITY, ALSO SLIPPING IN FORWARD GEARS. THIS IS DUE TO THE 35R CLUTCH BEING DAMAGED BY THE WAVE PLATE WHICH NEEDS REPLACING AND IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. *TR
ON FRIDAY, MAY 17TH THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN AND DROVE NORMALLY ON MONDAY, MAY 20TH THE CAR WILL NOT GO INTO REVERSE AND WILL NOT GO FORWARD. IT WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC AS IT WAS COMPLETELY UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. MECHANIC INDICATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT OPERATING AND TRYING TO ENGAGE THREE GEARS AT ONCE. I CALLED A LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THEY INDICATED THIS IS A COMMON WITH THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION IN THIS VEHICLE. ESTIMATE IS $2,800 TO $3,000 TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 92,000 MILES. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF IT HAD THIS SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TWO MONTHS BEFORE INCIDENT, CAR WOULD GO INTO MANUAL SHIFT MODE AND THEN SHIFT BACK TO NORMAL MODE. IT WOULD ALSO SLIP GEARS AND AT TIMES THE REVERSE GEAR WOULD NOT WORK. THE CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH THE MANUAL PADDLE SHIFTERS. AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, THE CAR COMPLETELY STALLED WHILE APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION AND THE SHIFTER WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ANY GEAR WHEN MOVED. THE CAR LOST COMPLETE POWER. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO SEARS AND THE CODES P0716 (TURBINE INPUT SHAFT) AND P0700 (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM) APPEARED. SEARS RECOMMENDED TAKING IT TO A DEALERSHIP. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO FAULKNER CHEVROLET IN LANCASTER, PA. CHEVROLET RAN THROUGH COMPUTER AND FOUND SAME CODES. TECHS DRAINED TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FOUND METAL IN THE FLUID. A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS INSTALLED A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER. I CALLED GM TO REPORT THE PROBLEM AND THEY RESPONDED WITH RE-IMBURSING ME FOR A PORTION OF THE COST OF THE TRANSMISSION ($1,350 OUT OF $4,158.38). THE REP ON THE LINE SAID THAT WAS ALL THAT I WAS GOING TO GET AND THERE WAS NO POINT IN TRYING TO GET RE-IMBURSED FOR MORE. A SEARCH OF THE INTERNET FOUND SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND IT WAS MENTIONED THAT IT COULD BE RELATED TO THE WAVE PLATE. *TR
I EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE AS A LOT OF OTHER OWNERS, THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT GO INTO PARK SO THEREFORE MY CAR STARTED TO ROLL AWAY. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS I WAS STILL NOT ABLE TO GET IT IN PARK SO I LEFT IT IN NEUTRAL AND PUT ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. TO START MY VEHICLE I HAVE TO HAVE MY CAR IN NEUTRAL OR ELSE IT WILL NOT START. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND SAW THAT THIS WAS AN APPARENT ISSUE THAT SEVERAL OWNERS HAVE SEEN SO I CALLED GM TO GET SOME INFORMATION. THE LADY THAT ANSWERED THE PHONE HAD A HEAVY ACCENT AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND HER BUT SHE STARTED A CASE AND TOLD ME TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE LOCAL AUTHORIZED SATURN REPAIR FACILITY. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN INVESTIGATED THE ISSUE AND DETERMINED THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS INDEED THE EXACT ISSUES THAT THE RECALL WAS TO ADDRESS, THE GM SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY REFUSED TO AUTHORIZE THE DEALER TO PROCEED WITH THE REPAIR. HER REASON WAS THAT THE CAR HAD TOO MANY MILES AND THAT THE CABLE BROKE BECAUSE OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT IT WOULD BE CLOSE TO $600 TO REPAIR MY CAR AND AT THE POINT, I INFORMED THEM NOT TO DO THE REPAIR DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS ON MY PART. I AM STILL DRIVING THIS CAR WITH THIS PROBLEM, I JUST HAVE TO REMEMBER TO ALWAYS ENGAGE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE AFTER SHUTTING OF MY CAR. IN REVERSE, THE VEHICLE WILL BARELY MOVE WITHOUT THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AND MAKING HORRIBLE NOISES ALSO ATTEMPTING TO STALL OUT. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 50,000 MILES! THIS IS LUDICROUS! THE DANGER IS THAT THE VEHICLE COULD STALL OUT AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING, THEREFORE, PLACING THE DRIVER IN AN UNSAFE SITUATION WITH THE POTENTIAL OF BEING STRUCK BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC; REAR ENDED, ETC. I SPENT HOURS THIS MORNING RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE EXTENSIVELY, VIA NUMEROUS CONSUMER FORUMS, AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. GM'S RESPONSE, IN ONE FORUM, WAS TO HAVE THE SYSTEM SOFTWARE UPGRADED, THEREBY FIXING THE PROBLEM. THIS APPARENTLY DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM IN ALMOST ALL POSTED CASES BUT IS THE APPARENT "GO TO" RESPONSE. I BELIEVE IF THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF CONSUMERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE, AND THAT ISSUE IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS, THE MANUFACTURER (GM) IS RESPONSIBLE TO CORRECT THE ISSUE AT NO CHARGE TO THE CONSUMER. I DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS A COINCIDENCE THAT SO MANY VEHICLES "RANDOMLY" HAVE THE SAME DANGEROUS TRANSMISSION FAILURE ISSUE. WHEN CONTACTING GM'S CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE DEPARTMENT THIS MORNING, I WAS INSTRUCTED THAT THE LOCAL DEALER (WHICH THEY TRIED TO CONTACT WITH ME ON HOLD TO NO AVAIL) WOULD PROVIDE THE SOFTWARE UPDATE FREE OF CHARGE (THAT'S THE STANDARD SOLUTION FOR FIRST TIME COMPLAINTS APPARENTLY). AFTER THAT IS COMPLETED, AND IF IT DOESN'T SOLVE THE DANGEROUS TRANSMISSION ISSUE, WE'RE BASICALLY ON OUR OWN TO REPLACE A FAULTY TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
MY BRAKE LIGHTS JUST RANDOMLY COMES ON. IT WILL COME ON WHEN I PRESS THE GAS AND STAY ON WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD. IT ALSO GOES OFF WHEN I HIT THE BRAKE SOMETIMES. I HAVE HAD IT WORKED ON AND IT STILL HASN'T BEEN FIXED MORE THAN ONCE. WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURS IT IS HARD TO PUT MY CAR IN GEAR. THE BRAKE LIGHTS SOMETIMES FLICKER RANDOMLY. I NEVER REALLY KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. THE PAST TWO MONTHS THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR THIS PROBLEM AT LEAST TWICE IF NOT MORE. THIS DOESN'T COUNT THE 6 TIMES IT HAD BEEN LOOKED AT WITHIN THE LAST YEAR. THE PROBLEM NEVER SEEMS TO GET FIXED. THE CLOSEST GM DEALER IS ABOUT AN HOUR AWAY AS WELL. *TR
IN LATE MARCH 2013, I TOOK MY CAR TO CURRY'S AUTO SERVICE IN DULLES, VA TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF SQUEALING SOUND WHEN I BACK MY CAR OUT OFF PARKING SPACES. I WAS ADVISED TO HAVE REAR ROTORS RESURFACED, REAR PADS REPLACED AND REPLACE SHOCKS AND STRUTS. ON APRIL 2, 2013, WHILE IN GA FOR BUSINESS/PERSONAL PURPOSES I TOOK MY 2007 SATURN AURA XR TO TIRES PLUS IN SUWANEE, GA TO HAVE THE NECESSARY REPAIR WORK. DESPITE THE COMPLETED REPAIR WORK, FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS THE SOUND KEPT COMING BACK ONLY OCCURRING WHEN I BACK OUT OFF PARKING SPACES. ON APRIL 27, 2013 I TOOK MY CAR TO THE TIRES PLUS IN CHANTILLY, VA. THEY DETERMINED THE REAR ROTORS WERE NOT RESURFACED PROPERLY AND REAR LEFT SHOCK WAS LOOSE. ON MAY 4, 2013 TIRES PLUS, CHANTILLY, VA LOCATION RESURFACED THE REAR ROTORS AND TIGHTENED THE SHOCK. WITHIN TWO HOURS OFF THE REPAIR THE SQUEALING NOISE IS BACK AGAIN. THE CONSISTENT NOISE OCCURS DAILY WHENEVER I BACK OUT OFF PARKING SPACES. I HAVE ALREADY INVESTED OVER $1,100 IN REPAIRS WITH NO RESOLUTION. SCANNING THE INTERNET, I FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER 2007 SATURA AURA OWNERS WITH THE SAME EXACT SQUEALING ISSUE. *TR
