HAD BRAKES CHANGE THE FIRST TIME UNDER WARRANTY FOR FAULTY BRAKE PADS. SAME THING WITH THE BRAKES IN ABOUT A LITTLE OVER A YEAR. POWER STEERING WHINES AND LEAKS SOMEWHERE. NO POWER STEERING. AND NOW WHEEL BEARING HUBS HUMMING AND BAD. WENT TO DEALER FOR BRAKES THEY REPLACE BOTH TIMES BUT NOT WITHOUT A FIGHT. TOLD THEM I BELIEVE BOTH WHEEL BEARING ARE BAD ONLY REPLACE ONE. AND KNOW OTHER ONE IS WORSE THEN BEFORE. AND ALSO TOLD THEM POWER STEERING WAS NOT GOOD THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE BRAKING NOT THE STEERING. ALSO I HAD TOLD THE TIRES LOST AIR THE REPLACED ONE OF THE TIRE SENSORS BECAUSE OF MANUFACTURE DEFECT . NOW HAVE PROBLEM WITH THE OTHER ONES. AND NOW ALL IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. EVERYTHING I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DENIED IS WHAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *TR
BRAKE LIGHT COME ON WHEN EVER STAY UNTIL WHENEVER DID SERVICE BULLETIN 4 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR WORKS TEMPORARY I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS FOR 2 1/2 YEARS CHANGE EVERYTHING DID EVERY THING BY THE BOOK. *TR
I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR SINCE SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE, MOST OF WHICH HAVE NEVER BEEN REPAIRED EVEN AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS BY DEALERSHIP, PASSENGER AIRBAG TURNS OFF EVEN WITH PASSENGER IN SEAT, HEATED SEATS COME ON BY THEMSELVES, I GAVE UP ON REPAIR OF THOSE LONG AGO, BUT THEY ARE MINOR COMPARED OTHER PROBLEMS I ANY SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS OF THIS CAR AS YOU CAN READ AT EDMUNDS.COM CONSUMER DISCUSSIONS, THIS CANNOT BE COINCIDENCE, TRACTION CONTROL, WATER PUMPS, CLUNKING IN THE STEERING COLUMN AND MOST RECENTLY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ISSUES, WHICH IN THE PROCESS OF MORE THAN ONE MECHANIC/DEALERSHIP TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS CAR I HAVE PAID FOR WHAT I WOULD CALL UNNECESSARY REPAIRS, FINALLY MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TELLS ME GM HAS TOLD THEM THE TIMING CHAIN IS STRETCHED, I'M ASSUMING GM KNOWS THIS BECAUSE THEY HAVE OTHER VEHICLES SOME 2007 MODELS WITH A TIMING CHAIN RECALL/ISSUES, ACCORDING TO A LOCAL MECHANIC TIMING CHAINS DO NOT NEED REGULAR MAINT. AND SHOULD LAST MUCH LONGER THAN MY 68000 MILES, I NOW NEED A 3500$$ REPAIR ALTHOUGH MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP "SYMPATHIZES" WITH ME THEY FEEL "THINGS JUST ARE NOT MADE THEY WAY THEY USED TO BE." 2007 SATURN AURA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO PASSENGER AIR BAG STATUS LIGHT MALFUNCTION. *SMD THE LIGHT INDICATED THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS "OFF", CAME ON AT TIMES WHEN THERE WAS AN ADULT PASSENGER IN THE SEAT. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES WITHOUT A RESOLUTION. HE CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS ABOUT THE PROBLEM, AND THEIR ANSWER WAS TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE. HE RESEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THE PROBLEM WAS REPORTED NUMEROUS TIMES ON THIS MODEL AS WELL AS OTHER GM MODELS. *JB THE CONSUMER STATED TO REMEDY THE SITUATION, HE MUST STOP THE CAR, TURN IGNITION SWITCH OFF, AND RE-START THE VEHICLE. CAR SUDDENLY LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE, FOLLOWED BY THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT COMING ON. HAD TO VEER ACROSS LANE TO PREVENT BLOCKING TRAFFIC. WAS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT THE "TRANSMISSION WENT OUT" AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED, THOUGH I STILL NEED TO VERIFY THIS WITH A TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST. IN LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR ISSUES THAT EVENING, I FOUND THAT THERE IS AN ONGOING NHTSA INVESTIGATION FOR THIS ISSUE (EA11-015). *TR
TRANSMISSION HAS STARTED TO SLIP AROUND THE SAME TIME THE RECALL WAS RELEASED CONCERNING GEAR SHIFTER CABLE. I AM HIGHLY CONCERNED THAT THIS IS RELATED AND NOW MY POWER TRAIN WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER ONLY OPERATED WHILE IN REVERSE AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,600.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR TURNED ALL THE WAY OFF AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED HAD TO PUT IN NEUTRAL AND TURN OFF AND BACK ON. ALSO THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ALWAYS ON AND WHEN I PRESS ON THE BRAKE THE LIGHT GO OFF. THIS CAR IS BECOMING SO PROBLEMATIC THE SHIFT IS ALSO STUCK A LOT OF THE TIME WHERE I CAN NOT EVEN SHIFT IT OUT OF PARK, I HAVE TO PRESS DOWN HARD ON BRAKE TO RELEASE THE PARK. HOPEFULLY COMPLAINTS FROM MANY PEOPLE WILL CAUSE A RECALL THIS IS NOT SAFE. *TR
THE HEATED SEATS COMES ON ITS OWN ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES. THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT LIGHT COMES ON WHEN NO ONE IS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES OFTEN WHEN STARTING THE CAR AND WHEN I TURN CAR OFF AND RESTART IT GOES OUT...BUT LATELY IT STAYS ON LONGER. *TR
VEHICLE POWER DOOR LOCKS DO NOT OPERATE UNLESS THE CAR IS BEING SHIFTED IN OR OUT OF PARK NOR DOES THE KEY FOB WORK. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GM DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT FIND A VERIFIABLE ISSUE WITH THE DOOR LOCKS. I HAVE BEEN LOCKED OUT OF THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIME BECAUSE THERE HAVE BEEN MOMENTS THAT THE DOORS LOCK ON THEIR OWN. THE DASH LIGHTS ALSO DIM ON THEIR OWN AND THE CHIME NO LONGER SOUNDS WHEN THE DOORS ARE OPENED. *TR
OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS, THE BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE BEEN WORKING SPORADICALLY. SOMETIMES THEY STAY ON, SOMETIMES THEY DO NOT COME ON, AND SOMETIMES THEY WORK OPPOSITE (WHEN YOU PRESS THE BRAKES THEY GO OFF AND WHEN YOUR ARE NOT ON THE BRAKES THEY COME ON). THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD. IT HAS GONE TO A DEALER ONCE ALREADY AND I HAVE ALREADY MADE A SECOND APPOINTMENT WITH THEM FOR THE SAME ISSUE. FROM THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR AT LEAST 3 GM MODELS. THIS IS DANGEROUS WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT WORK. I DRIVE ON THE PA TURNPIKE EVERY MORNING AT SPEEDS OF 55-65 MPH AND IF MY BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT WORK WHEN I GO TO SLOW DOWN, I AM AT RISK OF SOMEONE HITTING ME AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE. IT SEEMS THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE SATURN AURA, PONTIAC G6, AND CHEVY MALIBU. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER PLACING THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL AWAY IN REVERSE. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HIM THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
A FELLOW DRIVER WAVED ME DOWN TO TELL ME THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE "BACKWARDS," I.E., THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON UNTIL I HIT THE BRAKES, THEN ALL REAR LIGHTS WENT OFF. WORRISOME, TO SAY THE LEAST. AN INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED A LIKELY PROBLEM WITH THE BCM, WITH WHICH THERE SEEMS TO BE A GROUNDING ISSUE. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE, AND THEY WERE ABLE TO FIX THIS ISSUE. OTHER ITEMS HAVE COME UP OVER TIME: NO RESPONSE TO THE REMOTE CONTROL TO UNLOCK THE DOORS (OTHER BUTTONS CAN BE INTERMITTENT). CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGING WHILE DRIVING, OR CRUISE NOT SETTING AT ALL; DOORS NOT LOCKING/UNLOCKING WHEN THE CAR IS SHIFTED FROM PARK TO DRIVE OR VICE VERSA; AND THE NEWEST: THE AUTO WINDOW ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE WILL NOT WORK, EVEN THOUGH THE LEVER IS SET TO AUTO (RESETTING DOES NOT WORK; SOMETIMES IT WILL RE-ENGAGE IF THE CAR IS TURNED OFF FOR AN HOUR OR SO, SOMETIMES NOT). WHILE MOST OF THESE ARE "QUALITY OF LIFE" ISSUES WITH AN OLDER CAR, ONE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO MAINTAIN CONSTANT SURVEILLANCE OF THE CRUISE CONTROL AND/OR REAR BRAKE LIGHTS AND HOPE THAT AN ACCIDENT DOES NOT OCCUR. OIL IS LEAKING ON ENGINE CAUSING WHITE SMOKE, SMELL FILTER INSIDE OF VEHICLE, BUT NO OIL ON THE GROUND.(USE CONVENTIONAL OIL) NO ACCIDENT SINCE I PURCHASE THE CAR. SOMETIMES SHIFT HARD WHEN GOING TO NEXT GEAR. MEDAL SEEN IN ENGINE OIL. *TR
MY SATURN IS EXHIBITING THE BRAKE LIGHT PROBLEM REPORTED IN MEDIA. I HAVE VIDEOS AND PHOTOS SHOWING THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON WITHOUT PEDAL DEPRESSED AND MOST CONCERNING THE BRAKE LIGHTS NOT COMING ON WHEN BRAKE PEDAL PUSHED. I'VE HAD CAR SERVICED AT DEALERSHIP TWICE AND HAVE FOLLOWED THE TSB ON WIRE CORROSION AND PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. IT EXISTED THIS MORNING. I BORROWED A TECH 2 COMPUTER AND HAVE VIDEO AND PHOTOS OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE SENSOR. THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION READS A NEGATIVE POSITION OF -50 AND THIS TURNS ON THE BRAKE LIGHT. WHEN BRAKE LIGHTS ACTING NORMAL IT READS A BRAKE PEDAL POSITION OF +3. AS YOU PUSH THE BRAKES DOWN THE PEDAL POSITION INCREASES FROM THE STARTING NEGATIVE VALUE UNTIL IT GETS TO 50 AND THEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS TURN ON. SO I HAVE A 100 POINT TRAVEL WHERE THE BRAKE LIGHTS WORK THE OPPOSITE. I HAVE THIS ALL ON VIDEO. ALSO, WHEN THIS PROBLEM IS APPEARING, IF I DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND RELEASE IT, THE BRAKE LIGHT GOES OFF. I THEN COUNT TO FIVE AND THE BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON. THIS IS PROBABLY DUE TO THE COMPUTER GOING INTO SOME ALARM MODE. IF I DRIVE DOWN THE STREET PUSHING BRAKE PEDAL EVERY FIVE SECONDS, THE BRAKE LIGHT STAYS OFF. I WILL RETURN THE VEHICLE TO DEALER AND SHOW MY VIDEO. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND GOES AWAY WHEN THE CAR/COCKPIT WARMS UP. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME AND WHEN IT DOES HAPPEN IT GOES AWAY AFTER ABOUT FIVE MILES OF DRIVING. *TR UPDATED 03/27/13*LJ
WHILE MAKING A LEFT-HAND TURN, THE STEERING SEEMED TO CATCH AS IF IT WAS LOCKING UP. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN WITH EACH LEFT-HAND TURN, BUT IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. IT NOW HAPPENS WITH BOTH LEFT- AND RIGHT-HAND TURNS. *TR
I WAS JUST INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE TIMING CHAIN ON MY 2007 SATURN AURA NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR HAS ONLY ABOUT 72,000 MILES ON IT. THIS SEEMS HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ALONG W/CRUISE CONTROL ON IT SUDDENLY SHUTS OFF, AND MY BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WITHOUT APPLYING MY BRAKES, THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON UNTIL I APPLY MY BRAKES THEN WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE LIGHTS GO OFF I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE & THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO ON & STAY ON UNTIL I APPLY THE BRAKES AGAIN & THE CRUISE WILL NOT WORK WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHT ARE ON & WHEN I FIRST START THE CAR I HAVE TO PUSH REAL HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GET THE CAR OUT OF PARK. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ALMOST EVERYDAY FOR MONTHS NOW. I'VE HAD MECHANICS CHECK IT OUT THEY REPLACED STOP LIGHT SWITCH & CLEANED CONTACTS & RESET COMPUTER BUT NOTHING WORKS, GENERAL MOTORS SHOULD HAVE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS IN A BAD ACCIDENT. *TR
THE STEERING ON THE CAR IS VERY TIGHT, MEANING IT DOES NOT TURN SMOOTHLY. I FEEL EVERY AND ANY SORT OF BUMP THE CAR GOES OVER. WHEN TURNING IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR IS SCRUBBING THE PAYMENT, NOT A THOROUGH MOVEMENT. THERE IS ALSO SOMETHING LOOSE OR SOUNDS AS IF SOMETHING IN THE INTERIOR OR UNDER THE HOOD IS RATTLING OR IS MAY COME APART. THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM IS SAYING THAT THE SWAY BAR AND END LINKS NEED TO BE REPLACED OR TIGHTENED. ALSO, MY AIR BAG LIGHT POPPED ON SAYING IT NEEDED TO BE SERVICED.... I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT THIS ALERT ON MY DISPLAY!!THEY EXPLAINED TO ME IT HAPPENS OVER TIME, HOWEVER FROM READING OTHER SATURN CAR OWNER'S REVIEWS THIS IS A RECURRING COMPLAINT AMONGST MANY OTHERS. IT IS OR WAS THE TOP LUXURY SEDAN WHEN IT CAME OUT AND IT WOULD APPEAR THE SUSPENSION WOULD BE A LOT SMOOTHER ON A SEDAN. UNHAPPY WITH RESULTS AND I FEEL THE HISTORY OF CAR WAS NOT REVEALED AT TIME OF PURCHASE. THE REPAIR BILL ESTIMATE IS AROUND 500.00 AND THAT IS A LOT OF EXPENSE....THERE IS ANOTHER REVIEW REFERENCING TO THE STRUTS OR TYPE OF STRUT TO USE SHOULD BE THE ONE MADE BY CHEVY. I HAVE A 2007 SATURN AURA XR WITH THE 3.6L AND 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC AND BEGAN TO NOTICE A BUCKING, WHEN PUT INTO REVERSE, ON JANUARY 16, 2013. I CALLED MY MECHANIC, WHO HAS SERVICED THE SATURN SINCE 11/08, WHO ASKED THAT I BRING IT IN TO THE SHOP. AN EVENING LATER, I LOST THE TRANSMISSION AND HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED. IT WAS DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND I MADE THE DECISION TO INVEST $3,000 TO HAVE IT REPLACED. I'VE NOT LEARNED WHAT CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND AM VERY DISMAYED THAT THERE WAS NO FOREWARNING. THE CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED ON A REGULAR BASIS; JUST HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGED AS THE SATURN REACHED THE 100K MARK. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I'VE NOTICED A TREND WITH THIS CAR AND THAT IS QUITE A NUMBER OF OWNERS HAVE HAD TO REPLACE TRANSMISSIONS SOONER THAN EXPECTED. *TR
SERVICE AIRBAGS LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING OFF AND ON SINCE 2013. IT WILL STAY OFF AT TIMES UP TO 6 MONTHS THEN COME ON EVERY OTHER DAY FOR A MONTH THEN STAY OFF FOR MONTHS. THE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION USUALLY WHEN ON HIGHWAY BUT HAS COME ON WHEN DRIVING ON CITY STREETS. DEALER SAYS ITS A MODULE AND WILL COST $800.00 TO 1000.00 TO FIX. FEEL THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ITEM. DEALER SAID AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY WHEN SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, ANOTHER DRIVER INFORMED HIM THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ERRONEOUSLY ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE BRAKE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH DOWNHILL IN SNOWY WEATHER WHEN THE WHEELS SEIZED AND THE TIRES WOULD NO LONGER MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE BRAKE SYSTEM WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,500.
CAME HOME AND ATTEMPTED TO PARK IN DRIVEWAY. UPON ATTEMPTING TO PARK, CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT ALL THE WAY INTO PARK INITIALLY. I ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE CAR INTO PARK. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS CAR SEEMED TO BE IN PARK. AT THIS POINT I EXITED THE VEHICLE. UPON RETURNING TO MY DRIVE WAY I FOUND THE CAR HAD DRIFTED INTO MY GARAGE CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY BUMPER AND MY RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE. CAR WILL NOT START UNLESS ITS IN NEUTRAL. GEAR SHIFT WILL MOVE TO PARK BUT THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK. SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA. SPOKE WITH GM AND THEY'RE NOT TAKING ANY ACTION UNTIL A RECALL IS ISSUED. SO I HAVE TO PAY FOR DAMAGES NOT CAUSED BY DRIVING, BUT BY GM'S DEFECT AS WELL AS PAY GM TO HAVE CAR FIXED SINCE THE CAR STILL WILL NOT STAY IN PARK CAUSING A DRIVING HAZARD. *TR
DRIVING ALONG A 35MPH ROAD. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION JUST LOCKED UP AND BROKE INTERNALLY. *TR
AT VARIOUS TIMES THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD COME ON WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD THEN GO TURN OFF. WITHIN SECONDS OF TAKING YOUR FOOT OFF THE PEDAL THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD COME BACK ON. ESSENTIALLY THE PEDAL WAS DOING THE OPPOSITE THAT IT SHOULD.(BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD BE ON WHILE DRIVING AND OFF WHILE BRAKING). THIS ISSUE ALSO CAUSED THE CRUISE CONTROL TO TURN OFF RANDOMLY AND TO NOT ENGAGE WHEN SELECTED. EVENTUALLY THE PROBLEM BECAME BAD ENOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR HAD INTERNAL FAULT CAUSING WRONG VOLTAGE BEING RETURNED TO THE BCM. AS I WAS DRIVING OVER A BRIDGE I HEARD A LOUD SNAP/THUNK SOUND FROM UNDER MY SEAT.. ALL OF A SUDDEN MY SEAT STARTED LEANING TO THE RIGHT.. AFTER I PULLED OVER AND LOOKED AT IT I FOUND A WELD ON THE METAL BAR UNDER THE SEAT HAD SNAPPED.. THE CAR IS NOT REALLY SAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO IT LEANING TO THE RIGHT AND EVERYTIME YOU BRAKE OR HIT THE GAS OR TURN YOU CONSTANTLY LEAN AND BOUNCE BACK AND FORTH.. I HAVE NOW SEEN MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS LOOSE AS THOUGH IT WOULD DETACH FOR THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING COLUMN WAS UPSIDE DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD STEERING ISSUES AND A WIRE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14E044000 (STEERING). THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 154,000.
WHILE ADJUSTING THE POWER SEAT, THERE WAS A LOUD SNAPPING SOUND AND THE SEAT BEGAN TO LIST TO THE RIGHT. UPON INSPECTING THE SEAT, I FOUND THAT THE FORWARD AND REAR RAILS THAT CONNECT PERPENDICULAR TO THE RIGHT SIDE SEAT FRAME ARE SNAPPED OFF AT THE WELDS. THERE ALSO APPEARS TO BE SURFACE RUST ON THE METAL OF THE FRAME THAT SUPPORTS THE SEAT AND ITS MOTORS. *TR
SOMETIME IN NOVEMBER I STARTED EXPERIENCING AN EXTENDED CRANK WHERE IT TOOK MY CAR A FEW SECONDS LONGER TO START UP. BY DECEMBER THIS WAS STILL HAPPENING BUT NOW I WAS STARTING TO SMELL GASOLINE IN AND AROUND MY VEHICLE. A FRIEND OF MINE WAS A MECHANIC FOR SATURN FOR 17 YEARS AND NOW WORKS FOR ANOTHER DEALER. HE CHECKED THE CAR AND DETERMINED THIS WAS A PROBLEM IN THE FUEL LINE. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THIS ISSUE MATCHES A RECALL ISSUE FOR THE 2007 SATURN ION. I CONTACTED GM AT 800-521-7300 TO ASK IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS FOR THE AURA FOR THIS ISSUE THAT IS IDENTICAL TO THE ION RECALL AND WAS TOLD THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE SEEMS LIKE IT SHOULD WARRANT A RECALL AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND POSES THE SAME RISK FOR FIRE. MY VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 50, 000 MILES ON IT. I DON'T WANT TO RISK A VEHICLE FIRE WHILE FIGHTING TO GET A RECALL ISSUED SO I WILL END UP PAYING OUT OF POCKET TO FIX THIS DEFECT. *TR
CAR FAILS TO ACCELERATE AT NORMAL RATE AND ENGINE REV'S VERY HIGH WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE - IF YOU LET OF GAS CAR ALMOST IMMEDIATELY SLOWS TO A STOP. CAR STARTS JERKING, WON'T REVERSE. MY SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHTS ARE ON AND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS NOT ON WHEN SOMEONE SITS IN THE VEHICLE. ALSO THE TRACTION LIGHT CAME ONE WHILE I WAS IN PARK AND THE ENTIRE LIGHT PANEL FLICKERED. THERE HAVE BEEN OVER 20 COMPLAINTS THAT I HAVE READ JUST ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS ALONE. WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL? ABOUT A MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH 30000 MILES ON IT, THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT WENT ON. DEALERSHIP DIDN'T DO ANYTHING UNTIL THE 3RD TIME I BROUGHT IT IN. THEY REPLACED THE SEAT AND IT JUST STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. BOTH AIRBAGS ARE DISENGAGED NOW. HOW IS THAT NOT AN AUTOMATIC RECALL? HOW DOES GM NOT FIX THIS WITHOUT CHARGE? VEHICLE STARTED TO LUNGE FORWARD IN A STOPPED POSITION. WOULD NOT GO INTO DRIVE OR OTHER GEARS. NO DASH WARNINGS APPEARED. 2 MONTHS OVER THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY UNDER THE 100,000 MILES. *TR
ATTEMPTED TO START CAR, WOULD NOT START IN PARK, SHIFTED IT TO NEUTRAL CAR STARTED, ATTEMPTED TO PUT CAR IN REVERSE DISCOVERED I HAD NO REVERSE. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE CAR HOME BUT WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PUT CAR IN PARK AND SHUT IF OFF IT WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO DO SO. IT APPEARED TO BE IN PARK BUT CAR CONTINUED TO ROLL FINALLY WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO STAY IN PARK TURNED CAR OFF AND PUT ON EMERGENCY BRAKE ON. WHEN I TRIED TO START IT AGAIN CAR WOULD NOT START. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 SATURN AURA WITH POWER DRIVER SEATS. THE DRIVERS SEAT WAS JUST ABOUT HALF WAY ELEVATED AND WHILE DROPPING A FRIEND OFF GOING UP-HILL ON A WINDY ROAD - I BEGAN TO FEEL THE DRIVERS SEAT MOVING IN THE MOTION OF THE TURN. AFTER A COUPLE OTHER OCCASIONS IT BECAME AN ISSUE AS THE DRIVERS SEAT FELT CROOKED WHILE DRIVING AND MORE PRONOUNCED THAT IT AFFECTED DRIVING AS THE SEAT MOVED EVEN MORE AS THE DAYS PROGRESSED AND DANGEROUS AS IT COULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO TURN INTO SOMETHING MORE-SO OR ACCELERATE WITHOUT CAUSE; DUE TO THE IMBALANCE IN THE DRIVERS SEAT. ONE REMEDY TO THIS SITUATION IS THE FULLY LOWER THE SEAT SO THAT THE BRACKETS ARE AT IT'S LOWEST POSITION. ALTHOUGH I DON'T PREFER TO BE THAT CLOSE AS THE DRIVERS SEAT IS NORMALLY A LITTLE HIGHER IT DOES CAUSE INCONVENIENCE. NOT ONLY TO ME, BUT OTHER DRIVERS THAT USE THE VEHICLE. ANOTHER REASON WHY IT'S AT IT'S LOWEST POSITION IS TO AVOID FURTHER DAMAGE TO THE SEAT AND IT'S COMPONENTS. THE INTEGRITY OF THE SEAT IS ALREADY COMPROMISED AND WOULD HATE TO RAISE THE SEAT IN FEAR OF A COLLISION DUE TO THE FRAME OR FULL FAILURE OF THE SEAT ITSELF. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INVESTIGATION TO THIS MATTER AS I FEEL IT'S NOT AN ISOLATED ISSUE AND WOULD HOPE THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD ASSIST IN GETTING NOT ONLY MY SEAT REPAIRED, BUT OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. MY PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY INDICATED IT WAS A BAD BAG THAT LOOKED LIKE IT HAD BEEN USED. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN ANY KIND OF WRECK. I BOUGHT IT FROM A DEALERSHIP WITH 28,000 MILES AND A CARFAX INDICATED ONE OWNER AND NO WRECKS. I NOTICED ON GM RECALL LIST SEVERAL PASSENGER AIR BAGS ARE BEING RECALLED. MY DEALERSHIP WANTS $700.00 TO REPLACE AND I FEEL IT SHOULD BE FIXED BY GM FOR PUTTING A FAULTY AIR BAG IN THE CAR. *TR
THE 1ST INCIDENT STARTED AROUND 9/26/12 WHEN THE ESC LIGHT CAME ON AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING UNLESS I PRESSED EXTREMELY HARD ON THE BRAKES. DOC ID WAS #08-05-22-009C 2ND INCIDENT WAS 10/25/13 (ESX LIGHT ON) WITH SIMILAR ISSUE AS 1ST INCIDENT EXCEPT THIS TIME THE BRAKES LIGHTS WOULD BE ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND GO OFF WHEN I WAS BRAKING (EXTREMELY DANGEROUS). I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF PARKING MY VEHICLE AT THE GROCERY STORE WITH MY 1 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. I WENT TO PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO DO SO. I THOUGHT THAT SOMETHING MAY HAVE OCCLUDED THE GEAR SHIFT, SO I TOOK THE CAR OUT OF PARK AND ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT INTO THE DIFFERENT GEARS AND IT EVENTUALLY BECAME IMPOSSIBLE TO SHIFT ANY FURTHER AND MY CAR WAS STUCK IN DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO OUR USUAL MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFT CABLE WAS "ALL BUT SEPARATED". I RESEARCHED A BIT ON THE INTERNET WHERE AROUND 400,000 OTHER VEHICLES (PONTIACS, CHEVROLET MALIBUS, SATURN AURAS) HAD THE SAME ISSUE THAT I WAS HAVING AND SAW A BULLETIN ISSUED FOR SEPTEMBER 18, 2012 WARNING OF THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE OF THE GEAR SHIFT CABLE BECOMING SEPARATED AND THAT INDIVIDUALS MAY THINK THE CAR IS IN PARK WHEN THE VEHICLE MAY REALLY BE IN A DIFFERENT GEAR AND THE VEHICLE MAY ROLL AWAY. I CALLED THE GENERAL MOTORS HEADQUARTERS REGARDING THIS SITUATION, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE TO BE DIAGNOSED AT A GENERAL MOTORS DEALERSHIP BEFORE ANYTHING REGARDING COMPENSATION COULD BE DISCUSSED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SUPERIOR CHEVROLET IN CONWAY, AR WHERE THE SAME THING WAS SAID ABOUT THE GEAR SHIFT CABLE. CALLED GM HEADQUARTERS AGAIN, THE STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL REGARDING MY ISSUE, AND IF I WANTED TO BE RECONSIDERED FOR COMPENSATION, THE REPAIR WOULD HAVE TO BE COMPLETED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE CAR WAS REPAIRED AT THE DEALERSHIP COSTING $625 INCLUDING THE TOW BILL. GM STILL MAINTAINED THAT THE REPAIR WAS NOT UNDER A SAFETY RECALL, I WOULD NOT BE COMPENSATED AND FOR MY TROUBLES AT $100 CASH LETTER GOOD AT ANY GM DEALERSHIP. THE FIRST TIME MY CAR WAS PARKED, AND MY KEYS WERE IN MY PURSE, I WAS GETTING SOMETHING OUT OF MY TRUNK. MY 2007 AURA XR 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION JUST STARTED NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY. IT IS HUNTING FOR 3RD AND 5TH GEAR. THE RPM IS FLUCTUATING DURING SHIFTS AND NOT SHIFTING UP, THEN DEPENDING ON THE POINT IT DECIDES TO SHIFT IT SLAMS INTO GEAR. THE MORE ACCELERATION THE CAR IS UNDER THE WORSE IT GETS AS THE RPM CLIMBS QUITE HIGH. *TR
