I HAD BEEN RUNNING ERRANDS AND HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THE CAR ALL DAY UNTIL ABOUT 8PM. I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPOT AND TRIED TO PLACE THE CAR IN PARK AND IT WOULD NOT GO, JUST KEPT ROLLING BACK. I HAD MORE ERRANDS TO RUN BUT FIGURED IT WOULD BE BEST TO GO HOME BECAUSE I WAS WORRIED AT THAT POINT SOMETHING WAS SERIOUSLY WRONG. ONCE I GOT HOME AND PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY THE CAR STILL WOULDN'T GO INTO PARK, THEN I TRIED TO PLACE THE CAR IN REVERSE AND IT WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. AT THAT POINT THE SHIFTER WOULD NOT SEEM TO GO INTO ANY GEAR AND I HAD TO JUST SHUT THE CAR OFF AND PUT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON SO THE CAR WOULDN'T ROLL. NOW THE CAR WILL NOT START AT ALL, I ASSUME SINCE IT'S NOT IN PARK! I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME ISSUE AND CAN'T TELL IF THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THE SHIFTER CABLE/BRACKET BUT THERE DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE. MY CAR IS NOT STUCK IN THE DRIVEWAY AND I WILL HAVE TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC TO BE FIXED. I HAD TO FIND AN ALTERNATE RIDE TO DROP MY SON OFF AT DAYCARE AND DROP ME OFF TO WORK TODAY WHICH IS NOT VERY CONVENIENT!. *TR
04 JULY, 2012: WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE IN MY DRIVEWAY, I SHIFTED INTO PARK AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL FORWARD UNDER POWER AS I WAS EXITING THE VEHICLE.I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND NOTICED THAT THE SHIFTER WAS BINDING. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START ONCE IT WAS SHUT OFF. AFTER A BRIEF UNDER THE HOOD INSPECTION, I NOTICED THAT THE SHIFTER CABLE WAS FRAYED AND THE OUTER JACKET WAS COMPROMISED. IT APPEARS THAT THE INNER CORE OF THE CABLE IS BROKEN AND ALL BUT ONE OR TWO OF THE STAINLESS BRAIDED WIRES SURROUNDING THE INNER CORE ARE COMPLETELY BROKEN. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY INOPERATIVE AND NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. *JS
DOES NOT SHIFT INTO INTENDED GEAR. DOES NOT SHIFT INTO MANUAL SHIFT MODE. TOOK TO THE DEALER NOW I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER. SOMETIMES DOES NOT SHIFT PASSED 2ND GEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER PARKING HIS VEHICLE ALL OF THE POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKED OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP MALFUNCTIONED. AS A RESULT, THE PUMP AND HOSES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 58,498. UPDATED 8/6/12 *CN
MY CAR ENGINE WOULD NOT STOP RUNNING OR TURN-OFF AT ALL WITH A KEY, WITHOUT A KEY DRIVER NOT ABLE TO STOP THE CAR AT ALL. *TR
WENT TO PUT VEHICLE INTO PARK AND I COULD FEEL THE SHIFTER KNOB GET SLOPPY AND UPON TAKING MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, REALIZED IT WAS STARTING TO ROLL BACKWARDS. CAN ONLY START CAR IF IN NEUTRAL AND ALL OTHER GEARS APPEAR FINE, EXCEPT REVERSE FEELS LIKE THE SHIFT IS SLIGHTLY OFF.
BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN FOOT IS OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL. BRAKE LIGHTS WILL ONLY TURN OFF IT PEDAL IS TAPPED BUT BRAKE LIGHTS WILL AGAIN COME ON A SHORT TIME LATER 10 SECONDS +/- WITHOUT FOOT ON PEDAL. ALSO THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL EITHER NOT ENGAGE OR WILL DISENGAGE ON ITS OWN . THE BRAKE LIGHT PROBLEMS IS OBVIOUSLY DANGEROUS. I'VE TALKED TO SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THE AURA, G6, MALIBU BUILD PLATFORM. PLEASE ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOUD SNAPPING NOISE FROM UNDERNEATH DRIVER'S SEAT. SEAT TILTED SIGNIFICANTLY TO THE RIGHT AND WAS MOVING AS IF PART OF SEAT HAD DETACHED FROM BODY OF CAR. UPON PARKING AND INSPECTING SEAT, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT A WELD ON A METAL BAR ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT TRACK ASSEMBLY HAD SNAPPED, CAUSING SEAT TO SHIFT AND TILT UNCONTROLLABLY, MAKING CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE. POWER TRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRES NEXT MONTH; BUMPER-TO-BUMPER WARRANTY ALREADY EXPIRED. WILL BE CONTACTING SATURN SERVICE TOMORROW TO DISCUSS NECESSARY REPAIRS / COSTS. I WAS DRIVING MY SATURN AURA ON HIGHWAY WHEN THE CAR ABRUPTLY DROPPED GEARS AND THE SPEED AT WHICH I WAS TRAVELING WAS SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED. I QUICKLY PULLED OVER TO CHECK OUT THE PROBLEM. THERE DIDN'T SEEM TO BE ANY MAJOR MALFUNCTIONS AT QUICK GLANCE. HOPING THAT IT WAS JUST A MINOR MISHAP, I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. IT WAS GOOD FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY JUMPED UP TO 4,000 RPM AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO DRIVE ABOVE 40 MPH. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR OFF THE NEARBY EXIT AND INTO A PARKING LOT. ONCE THE CAR WAS PARKED, IT WOULD NOT REVERSE. THIS COULD HAVE TURNED INTO A MAJOR INCIDENT HAD THERE BEEN MORE TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS AS THE CAR HAD BEEN DRIVING FINE UP UNTIL THEN. I ALSO KEEP UP WITH ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. *TR
ENTERING HIGHWAY AND LOST GEAR - GOT 2ND BACK TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE OFF THE HIGHWAY. STOPPED FOR A TRAIN: COULD NOT REVERSE. LOST GEAR: NO FORWARD OR BACKWARDS ON A TWO LINE BRIDGE. TOWED TO A SHOP: TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE MALFUNCTION. ABLE TO GET TO A DEALER: NOBODY WANTED TO HEAR WHAT HAPPENED - NOBODY ABLE TO TELL WHEN CAR WOULD BE EVEN CHECKED FOR PROBLEMS. THAT WAS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE: WHAT IF THE VEHICLE STALLED IN A MIDDLE OF A INTERSECTION INSTEAD OF ON A SLOW MOVING BRIDGE. DEALER WAS NOT INTERESTED IN HEARING WHAT I FOUND ABOUT TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND NHTSA INVESTIGATION REGARDING 2007 AURAS. *TR
THE BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BRAKE. BRAKE LIGHTS GO OFF WHEN I STEP ON THE BRAKES. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR INTO THE GM DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES BUT THE FIX IS ONLY TEMPORARY. THE BRAKE LIGHT FAILURE RETURNS IN ABOUT 6 MONTHS. *TR
WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED IN 2012, WITH APPROX. 37K MILES ON IT. WITHIN 50 MILES, WE REALIZED THE BRAKES HAD AN ISSUE & TOOK IT BACK TO THE CHEVY DEALER, WHO DID THE REPAIRS FREE OF CHARGE. SINCE THAT TIME, WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE/REPAIR THE BRAKES (SPECIFICALLY THE ROTORS) 3 TIMES- APPROX. EVERY 10K MILES, AS THE VEHICLE NOW SITS AT 63K MILES. I UNDERSTAND BRAKE PAD WEAR- BUT REPLACING THE *ROTORS* THAT OFTEN IS RIDICULOUS AND EXPENSIVE. SOMETHING IS CAUSING THE ROTORS TO WARP, EITHER POOR QUALITY MATERIALS OR A PROBLEM WITH THE HYDRAULICS CAUSING UNEVEN BRAKING- PLEASE INVESTIGATE & START A RECALL! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, IT BEGAN TO ROLL AND CRASHED INTO A CURB WHILE THE GEAR SELECTOR WAS IN THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS UNOCCUPIED DURING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO ENTER THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND STOP THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING. THE FRONT BUMPER SUSTAINED MINOR SCRATCHES. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. AN OPEN INVESTIGATION ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA ACTION NUMBER EA11015 (POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: PARK/NEUTRAL START SWITCH; POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: GEAR POSITION INDICATION (PRNDL) POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: LEVER AND LINKAGE: FLOOR SHIFT) WAS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE MY CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGED AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON. THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAYED ON AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT WORK. WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED THE BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OFF AND NO REAR TAIL LIGHTS. WHERE VISIBLE. SINCE IT WAS WAY OUT OF WARRANTY I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC IT TOOK A LONG TIME TO FIGURE IT OUT. THEY PUT DIALMETIC (SPELLING) ON WIRES GOING INTO A CONNECTION BOX. IT WAS VERY SCARY TO DRIVE FELT LIKE YOU NEED TO PUMP YOUR BRAKES WHEN STOPPED TO LET OTHER DRIVERS KNOW THAT YOU WERE STOPPED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE AIR BAG OFF INDICATOR ILLUMINATED EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A FRONT SEAT PASSENGER PRESENT. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN 2011 WITH 55,476 ODOMETER WITHIN THIS TIME FRAME I HAD TO REPLACE FUEL PUMP AND THE ALARM SYSTEM IS NOT FUNCTIONING AT ALL. THE AIR BAG SYSTEM COMES ON AND OFF EVEN IN THE PROCESS OF ME DRIVING. I HAVEN'T BEEN NOTIFY DUE TO ANY OF THESE MATTERS UNTIL I FOUND WEB SITE. *TR

THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD TRY REPLACING THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN, BUT THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000. UPDATED 09/05/13*LJ THE DEALER REPLACED WIRES AND TERMIINALS WITHIN THE CIRCUIT AND RECLAIBRATED THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR. SO FAR, THERE HAVE BEEN NO MORE PROBLEMS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 SATURN AURA. WHILE TRAVELING 5 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE AND NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF THE DRIVE GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 109,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER PARKED ON AN INCLINE AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARD UPON RELEASING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE DRIVER THEN ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT INTO ANOTHER GEAR, BUT THE VEHICLE REMAINED IN DRIVE. THE DRIVER SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND WAS UNABLE TO RESTART IT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,116.
WHILE DRIVING ALONG W/CRUISE CONTROL ON IT SUDDENLY SHUTS OFF, AND MY BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WITHOUT APPLYING MY BRAKES, THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON UNTIL I APPLY MY BRAKES THEN WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE LIGHTS GO OFF I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE & THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO ON & STAY ON UNTIL I APPLY THE BRAKES AGAIN & THE CRUISE WILL NOT WORK WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHT ARE ON & WHEN I FIRST START THE CAR I HAVE TO PUSH REAL HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GET THE CAR OUT OF PARK. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ALMOST EVERYDAY FOR MONTHS NOW. I'VE HAD MECHANICS CHECK IT OUT THEY REPLACED STOP LIGHT SWITCH & CLEANED CONTACTS & RESET COMPUTER BUT NOTHING WORKS, GENERAL MOTORS SHOULD HAVE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS IN A BAD ACCIDENT. *TR
MY 2007 SATURN AURA FAILED TO SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY TODAY THIS IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE TRANSMISSION MISSED GEARS THEN WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR RESULTING IN NOT BEING ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY, PARK AND CALL A WRECKER TO TAKE TO THE DEALER. I PURCHASED THE CAR IN MARCH 2007 AND AS NOTED ONLY HAVE 70,900 MILES ON THE CAR. THIS CAR HAS HAD ALL MAINTENANCE WORK DONE AND HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF BY ME AND MY WIFE. AFTER PARKING THE CAR I COULD DO NOTHING WITH IT OTHER THAN START IT AND MOVE IT IN FIRST GEAR ONLY TO GET IT IN POSITION FOR THE WRECKER TO PICK UP. THE CAR HAD TO BE PUSHED BACKWARD AS THE AUTOMATIC SHIFTER WOULD GO INTO REVERSE BUT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE AND IT WOULD NOT GO BACKWARDS. THIS INCIDENT WAS VERY SUDDEN WHILE DRIVING AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF DIFFERENT GEARS BUT THIS STOPPED WHEN IT DROPPED TO 1ST GEAR RESULTING IN THE CAR QUICKLY LUNGING SLOWER WITH VERY HIGH RPM NUMBERS. *TR
MY CAR IS DOING EXACTLY WHAT THE OTHER REPORTS HAVE MENTIONED. I HAVE NOTICED IT OVER THE PAST TWO DAYS AND IT IS GETTING WORSE. YESTERDAY I ATTEMPTED TO PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND IT KEPT ROLLING BACKWARDS LIKE IT WAS IN REVERSE. THE LOCKS ON THE CAR WILL UNLOCK WHEN THE CAR IS SHIFTED INTO PARK AND THAT CLEARLY DID NOT HAPPEN WHEN THE CAR WAS IN PARK. IT TOOK ME SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET IT TO ACTUALLY SHIFT INTO PARK. ANOTHER TIME I ATTEMPTED TO PUT MY CAR INTO PARK, IT DIDN'T SHIFT, AND I HAD TO PUT ON MY EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO GET OUT. WHEN I RETURNED TO MY CAR ABOUT 45 MINUTES LATER, MY CAR WOULDN'T START. I THEN HAD TO PUT MY CAR IN NEUTRAL AND START IT THAT WAY. THIS IS NOT SAFE AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS IMMEDIATELY. *TR
LAST YEAR SOMETIME IN 2012 I STARTED NOTICING MY BRAKE LIGHT STAYING ON. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE LOOKED AT THE PROBLEM THREE TIMES. THE PROBLEM STAY EXISTS TO THIS DAY. STILL TRYING TO GET THE ISSUE RESOLVED. *TR
CAR WAS SET AT 60MPH CRUISE CONTROL AND BEGAN AUTO EXCEL TO 78 BEFORE I NOTICED AND DISENGAGED BY PRESSING BRAKE. *TR

THE GEAR SHIFTER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK BUT THE TRANSMISSION WAS ACTUALLY IN DRIVE OR REVERSE, PREVENTING THE VEHICLE FROM STARTING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
COMPLETE LOSS OF SHIFT FUNCTION WITH RESULTANT FAILURE TO START. *TR
THE CAR FIRST HAD PROBLEMS STARTING IN PARK ON OR AROUND MARCH 9TH AND THEN AS THE DAYS WENT ON THE PROBLEM WOULD GET WORSE, THEN ON THE 16TH OF MARCH 2012 I PARK IN A LOT TO GO INTO THE STORE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO PARK. THAT'S WHEN I NOTICED THE CAR DRIVING FORWARD WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE AND I ALMOST HIT THE CAR PARKED IN FRONT OF ME. *TR
DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATES AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR WENT FROM 65 TO 40 ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED. THE DASH DISPLAYED SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL. THE CARS SPEED DROPPED SO FAST I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY A SEMI. LUCKILY I GLANCED UP IN TIME NOT TO GET REAR ENDED. THE CAR IS NOW RUNNING FINE. AFTER LOOKING THROUGH SOME SITES IT APPEARS A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS ISSUE AND NOT EVEN WITH HIGH MILES SOME HAD IT WITH 3600 MILES ON THERE CAR. ALSO THE ONES THAT DID SEEK SERVICE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE ISSUE AND KEPT REOCCURING. *TR
THE WELD AT THE LEFT REAR BRACKET ON THE DRIVER'S SEAT SHEARED. THE DRIVER COULD BE LAUNCHED THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD IN AN ACCIDENT IF THE REMAINING WELDS FAIL. 8TT
PUT VEHICLE IN PARK AS EXITED VEHICLE IT ROLLED AWAY AND STUCK ME. FOUND SHIFT CABLE RUBBING HEATER HOSE CAUSING PRESSURE CABLE AND IT BROKE. *TR
ESC WARNING LIGHT CONSTANTLY FLASHES UNDER BRAKING. CRUISE CONTROL WOULD SHUT OFF OR NOT GO ON FOR SOME REASON. I WAS ADVISED BY ANOTHER DRIVER THAT BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT FUNCTIONING. WHEN I CHECKED THE BRAKE LIGHTS I FOUND THAT THEY WERE CONSTANTLY ON BUT WHEN I ENGAGED THE BRAKES THE LIGHTS WOULD GO OFF. I WAS CONSTANTLY COMPLAINING ABOUT BEING TAILGATED AND NOW I KNOW WHY. IF YOU TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH AND WHEN YOU HIT THE BRAKES THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OFF INSTEAD OF ON THEN IT'S OBVIOUS WHAT CAN HAPPEN WITH THE CAR BEHIND YOU. I CALLED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE TIER 2 TECH AND THE SUPERVISOR ACTED LIKE THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. I TOLD THEM THAT THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE FAIRLY WIDE SPREAD AND THAT THE NHTSA WAS INVESTIGATING THE PROBLEM. THEY STILL CLAIMED THEY WEREN'T AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. I DO NOT FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS SINCE THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE WIDESPREAD. WHEN IS THE NHTSA GOING TO COMPLETE IT'S INVESTIGATION BECAUSE I REALLY CAN'T AFFORD A LARGE BILL FROM THE DEALER. I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH 21,00 MILES AND IT NOW HAS 62,000...THE ECS LIGHT PROBLEM STARTED WITHIN A YEAR OF OWNERSHIP. THE CRUISE/ BRAKE PROBLEM STARTED PROBABLY A YEAR AGO. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT ONLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN SLIPPING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NO WARNING LIGHTS EVER ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
WHEN SHIFTING INTO REVERSE IN A PARKING LOT ON A HILL, THE CAR ROLLED FORWARD DOWN THE HILL AND INTO THE CURB INSTEAD. THE SHIFTER CABLE HAD BROKEN SO THE CAR WAS ACTUALLY STILL IN DRIVE. KNOWN DEFECT ON THIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. *TR
AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE IN REVERSE AND THEN PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE TO LEAVE, THE CAR "ACTED" AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL AND WOULDN'T MOVE. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND IT DID IT AGAIN. THEN ON THE THIRD TRY ALL APPEARED FINE. HOWEVER MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR TODAY AND AS SHE WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY ROAD AT APPROX 45-50 MPH THE CAR APPEARED TO GO INTO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN AND SHE HAD NO GAS PEDAL CONTROL. SHE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. SHE TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND IT MOVED FORWARD IN DRIVE FOR A MOMENT AND THEN IT APPEARED TO GO INTO NEUTRAL AGAIN AND SHE COULD NOT MOVE FORWARD WHEN PUSHING ON THE GAS PEDAL. THEN SHE TRIED TO USE REVERSE AND REVERSE DID NOT WORK AT ALL. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WON'T DRIVE PROPERLY. THIS IS VERY FRIGHTENING BECAUSE SHE WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD AND THE CAR LITERALLY WENT INTO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN. *TR
I PUT MY CAR INTO PARK AND SHUT IT OFF, I WENT TO GET IN THIS MORNING AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START AS IF IT WAS IN DRIVE STILL, I SHIFTED IT BACK AND FOURTH AND THEN FINALLY GOT IT TO START, I PUT IT IN REVERSE TO BACK UP BUT IT ACCELERATED FORWARD. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM ABOUT THIS ISSUE ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO BUT IT DID NOT OUTLINE THE SEVERITY OF THE PROBLEM, AFTER TALKING TO GM THEY WILL BE TOWING MY VEHICLE 60 MILES AWAY TO THE NEAREST DEALER THAT CAN WORK ON THIS PROBLEM. BUT THE ISSUE IS THAT IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN THE ENTIRE ISSUE I WOULD HAVE WANTED IT FIXED SOONER AS THIS IS A SCARY THING TO GO THROUGH ESPECIALLY SINCE IT STOPPED ABOUT 4 FEET FROM GOING OVER THE BANK. BUT THE LETTER FROM GM SAID NOT TO DO ANYTHING UNLESS YOU START HAVING PROBLEMS, WELL THE BIG PROBLEM WASN'T THE ISSUE THE BIG PROBLEM WAS WHAT COULD HAPPEN AFTER THE ISSUE, I WISH THEY WOULD HAVE INFORMED US OF SOME OF THE PROBLEMS THEY MADE IT LIKE IT WAS HARD TO SELECT GEARS, NOT LIKE YOU WOULD DRIVE WHEN TRYING TO REVERSE OR BEING IN PARK. *KB
HARD SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE/REVERSE. MOST OF THE TIME I HAVE TO PRESS ON THE BRAKES REALLY HARD TO GET OUT OF PARK AND WHEN I PRESS ON BRAKES IT MAKES A SCRAPING SOUND. ALSO WHILE DRIVING THE CENTER BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON AND WILL NOT GO OUT UNTIL I PRESS ON THE BRAKE. WHEN I PRESS ON THE BRAKE THE BRAKE LIGHT GOES OUT AND CARS BEHIND ME ALMOST RUN INTO ME. THIS OCCURS OFTEN. I DON'T KNOW IF IT HAPPENS DURING THE DAY BUT IT DOES AT NIGHT BECAUSE I CAN SEE THE CENTER BRAKE LIGHT VIA MY REAR VIEW MIRROR. *TR

IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND WOULD GO OUT ONCE THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVEN MONTHS LATER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. *TR
TRANSMISSION SHIFTIER FAILED WHEN PUTTING IN PARK. SHIFTIER WAS IN PARK AND THE CAR BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS AND BEFORE ANY SERIOUS DAMAGE OR INJURY OCCURRED, WE WERE ABLE TO STOP MOVEMENT BY APPLYING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. *TR
EVERY SINCE I HAVE BOUGHT THE CAR MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS WENT OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES EVEN WITH A PASSENGER IN THE CAR. THIS COULD BE VERY FATAL. *TR
ON 12/06/11, I WAS BACKING INTO MY DRIVEWAY WHEN MY SHIFT CABLE BROKE. IT MOVED MY TRANSMISSION FROM REVERSE INTO DRIVE SENDING MY CAR FORWARD ACROSS THE STREET. I AM THANKFUL IT HAPPENED THERE AND NOT IN A BUSY PARKING LOT SOMEWHERE. I HAD TO GET THE CAR TOWED TO A REPAIR STATION SINCE SATURN DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE. I PICKED AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR STATION. IT TOOK TWO DAYS TO GET THE PARTS DUE TO A NEWLY DESIGNED BRACKET WHICH IS DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE ORIGINALLY INSTALLED. THIS MAKES ME BELIEVE THAT SATURN / GENERAL MOTORS IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. SHIFT CABLE & A SHIFT BRACKET WERE REPLACED. PARTS, LABOR AND TAXES CAME TO $322.68. *TR

MY 2007 SATURN AURA HYBRID CONSTANTLY HAS PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. VARIOUS COMPONENTS GO OFF AND ON AT SEEMINGLY RANDOM OCCASIONS. FOR EXAMPLE, I'LL GET HALFWAY TO WORK AND THE "CHECK AIR BAG" LIGHT WILL GO ON; WHEN I GET BACK IN MY CAR AFTER WORK, THE SAME LIGHT WILL BE OFF AND WON'T GO BACK ON. IN ANOTHER EXAMPLE, I MIGHT BE DRIVING TO THE STORE AND THE TRACTION CONTROL WILL STOP WORKING, BUT WILL START AGAIN A FEW MILES LATER. SOMETIMES THE RADIO WILL NOT GO ON UNTIL I TURN OFF AND RESTART THE CAR. YESTERDAY, THE POWER STEERING LIGHT WENT ON FOR A MILE. EVERY SYSTEM IN THE CAR HAS HAD ITS WARNING LIGHTS TURN ON AND OFF AT VARIOUS TIMES BUT SINCE THEY DON'T STAY ON, I NEVER KNOW IF IT WILL BE SAFE TO KEEP DRIVING MY CAR OR NOT. I JUST READ SOME MESSAGE BOARDS AND THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. SINCE IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE (I HAD TROUBLE STEERING WHILE MY POWER STEERING WAS OUT), POSSIBLY WITH THE COMPUTER, THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AND GM SHOULD FIX THESE ISSUES. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 65,000.
TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE FAILED. CAR AT FIRST WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE, AND LATER WOULDN'T GO INTO PARK AND COULD NOT BE STARTED. I AM REPORTING THIS BECAUSE THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH OTHER 2007 SATURN AURAS, AND THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL ACCIDENTS INVOLVING PROBLEMS WITH FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE. DESPITE AN ACTIVE INVESTIGATION NHTSA ACTION NUMBER : EA11015, AND ARTICLES IN THE NEWS STATING GM IS OFFERING FREE REPAIRS FOR CUSTOMERS WHO EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM, GM SAID THEY HAD NO INFORMATION REGARDING THIS PROBLEM AND WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR. *KB
PULLED VEHICLE IN PARKING LOT AND WHEN PLACED IN PARK MY LOCKS DID NOT POP UP, WHICH I THOUGHT WAS ODD SO I TURNED THE CAR OFF. COULD NOT RESTART THE CAR. HAD SOMEONE LOOK AT IT AND HE COULD START IT IN NEUTRAL, BUT ONCE HE DROVE AROUND AND PARKED AGAIN, CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO PARK OR REVERSE....ONLY DRIVE. TWO NIGHTS AGO WHEN I PARKED THE CAR I NOTICED THAT THE DOORS DIDN'T UNLOCK WHEN I PLACED THE CAR IN PARK. I SHUT THE CAR OFF, MANUALLY UNLOCKED THE DOOR, PULLED THE HOOD RELEASE AND STEPPED OUT. THE CAR ROLLED A LITTLE. I JUMPED BACK IN AND APPLIED THE PARKING BRAKE. I TRIED TO START THE CAR TO MOVE IT FORWARD BUT IT WOULD NOT START, LIKE THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. AFTER CHECKING THE BATTERY CONNECTIONS ETC. I REALIZED THAT THE REMOTE KEY FOB OPERATED THE LOCKS JUST FINE SO POSSIBLY NO BATTERY ISSUE. I MOVED THE SHIFTER TO N TURNED THE KEY AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. MOVED THE SHIFTER TO PARK, AGAIN NOTHING. I MOVED IT TO PARK ONE MORE TIME AND THE DOORS UNLOCKED JUST LIKE NORMAL. SINCE THAT NIGHT EVERYTIME I PARK THE CAR I HAVE TO PLAY WITH THE SELECTOR/SHIFTER A LITTLE TO GET THE TRANS. INTO PARK.I AM NOW GOING TO ALWAYS APPLY THE PARKING BRAKE UNTIL RESOLVED. *TR

NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM , ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL , EXTERIOR LIGHTING , SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS INCLUDED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
THE SHIFT CABLE FAILED WHEN I PARKED THE CAR IN A PARKING LOT. WHEN I GOT BACK INTO THE VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT START. I OPENED THE HOOD AND CHECKED THE ENGINE. I GOT BACK INTO THE CAR AND TURNED THE KEY TO THE ON POSITION. I SHIFTED THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND TRIED TO START THE CAR AGAIN. THE CAR STARTED AND I SHIFTED IT BACK INTO PARK. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR TO SHUT THE HOOD AND THE CAR BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS. I WAS ABLE TO GET BACK IN THE CAR AND APPLY THE BRAKE. I THEN SHIFTED THE CAR BACK TO NEUTRAL AND APPLIED THE PARKING BRAKE.
