FUEL LEAKS FROM UNDER CAR. *TR
2006 SATURN ION. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE SUDDEN ACCELERATION RECALL NOTICE AND REQUESTS REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN SHE GOT IN THE LEFT TURN LANE TO MAKE A TURN, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE TOOK OFF WITHOUT APPLYING THE GAS. HER FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO RACE AT A HIGH SPEED. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED A SECOND TIME, WHILE AT A 4-WAY STOP SIGN, THE ENGINE BEGAN RACING, WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE VEHICLE CUT OFF AND THE DASHBOARD WENT BLACK. THE THIRD TIME, IT HAPPENED, SHE WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO RACE AT A HIGH SPEED, SHE WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE, AND EVENTUALLY SHE CRASHED INTO A WALL. *JB
COULD NOT SHUT CAR OFF, KEY IS LOCKED IN IGNITION, COULD NOT GET KEY OUT OF IGNITION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE REVERSING FROM HER DRIVEWAY. THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND THE VEHICLE RESUME AS NORMAL UPON RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 147,294.
AFTER PARKING THE CAR ON A SHORT DRIVE TO THE STORE, I SMELLED GASOLINE AROUND THE CAR. WHEN I CHECKED UNDERNEATH THE CAR, FUEL WAS VISIBLY POURING FROM THE FUEL TANK AREA AND WAS POOLING UNDER THE CAR. UPON INSPECTION OF THE FUEL SYSTEM, THE RETURN PORT OF THE FUEL PUMP WAS DISCOVERED TO BE CRACKED AND BROKEN-OFF, ENABLING FUEL RETURNING TO THE PUMP TO POUR OUT OF THE SYSTEM. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AT 9PM AND I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND MY POWER-STEERING STOPPED WORKING. THERE WAS A LIGHT ON THE DASH THAT SAID IT WAS MY PWR STR. I MADE IT TO WORK, BUT IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER MY CAR AND VERY UN-SAFE. *TT
IGNITION KEY CYLINDER FAILURE: THE KEY WOULD TURN BUT NOT ADVANCE BEYOND "RUN" TO START THE ENGINE. AFTER REPLACING THE KEY CYLINDER THE IGNITION KEY WORKS BUT THE IGNITION SWITCH PASSLOCK SYSTEM WOULD NOT ENGAGE; SATURN WAS FAULTED WITH THE EASE OF THEFT OF THEIR VEHICLES PROMPTING THEIR INITIATION OF THE FAILURE-PRONE PASSLOCK SYSTEM. THIS OWNER WORKS IN HIGH RISK/DANGEROUS AREA ON A FEDERAL FACILITY. FORTUNATELY THIS TIME THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AT HOME AFTER DRIVING FROM THAT FACILITY. WE NOTED THERE ARE MANY HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FILED AGAINST GM FOR THIS DEFECT, MANY WITH PERSONAL/PROPERTY RISK AS NOTED HERE, BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. IF THIS RECURS WITH PERSONAL DAMAGE WE GUARANTEE THERE WILL BE A SIGNIFICANT CLASS ACTION SUIT FILED AGAINST GM WHICH IS LIKELY TO BE HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL; WE ARE SEEKING THE ADVICE OF OUR ATTORNEYS. WE WILL NOT DIVULGE ANY OTHER SUCH OR RELATED INFORMATION AT THIS TIME. WE ADDITIONALLY NOTED TO DATE NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE BY GM TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM, VIS-A-VIS IN A RECALL OR REFUND FOR TIME/MATERIAL/LABOR OR PERSONAL TIME LOST, OTHER THAN TO DISCONTINUE THE SATURN BRAND. IT HAS BEEN DIFFICULT TO FIND SUITABLE SERVICE OF ANY KIND, MAINLY BECAUSE GM DEALERS REFUSE TO WORK ON SATURNS: "WE HATE THOSE CARS". AT THIS POINT THE REPROGRAMMING FEATURE OF THE DYSFUNCTIONAL PASSLOCK SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. THE VEHICLE WILL HAVE TO BE TOWED 39 MILES TO A DEALERSHIP. *TR
THE PLASTIC SUPPLY ON THE MODULAR RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY CRACKED. FUEL LEAKED FROM THE PORT. FUEL MAY BE OBSERVED DRIPPING ONTO THE GROUND AND VEHICLE STARTED AFTER SEVERAL SECONDS OF CRANKING. *TR
MY CAR WON'T START DUE TO IGNITION SWITCH MALFUNCTION. I'VE REPLACED IGNITION SWITCH AS SUGGESTED BY OWNER'S MANUAL TO NO AVAIL, PROBLEM PERSISTS. I'VE ALSO TAKEN THE CAR FOR SERVICE TO A CERTIFIED GM/SATURN SERVICE CENTER (DEALER SERVICE). THE CAR BATTERY AND STARTER MOTOR ARE IN GOOD CONDITION. ONLY AFTER MANY, MANY, ATTEMPTS TO START THE CAR IT'LL EVENTUALLY TURN ON. ONCE CAR IS TURN OFF, FOR EXAMPLE STOPPING AT GAS STATION FOR GAS, PROBLEM MANIFESTS ITSELF AGAIN, CAR WON'T START. THERE ARE NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF THIS PROBLEM (2006 SATURN ION IGNITION SWITCH MALFUNCTION) FOUND BY DOING AN ONLINE (INTERNET) SEARCH. PLEASE HELP! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT SMELLED A STRONG ODOR OF FUEL INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. A LARGE AMOUNT OF FUEL LEAKED ONTO THE GROUND CONTINUOUSLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED DURING EXTREMELY HOT WEATHER TEMPERATURES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP); HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THERE WAS 3 BEEPS AND "PWR STR" WAS DISPLAYED, AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED. SINCE THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, THE CAR WILL START WITH THE POWER STEERING ENABLED, AND THEN AFTER DRIVING FOR ANYWHERE FROM 1 TO 6 MINUTES, IT WILL FAIL AGAIN. WITHOUT THE POWER STEERING, THE CAR IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN. *TT
GASOLINE ODOR COMING INTO CAR AND STRONG ODOR WHEN STOPPED. DEALER REPLACED FUEL PUMP AFTER DIAGNOSING CRACK AND LEAKAGE FROM FUEL PUMP, THE COST TO ME WAS $ 663.55. GM DETERMINE THAT NO REIMBURSEMENT WAS WARRANTED SINCE NEW JERSEY IS NOT COVERED BY 09275A NHTSB. CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN WHY THIS SATURN ION, WHICH HAS THE SAME FUEL PUMP MODULES AS OTHER SATURN IONS, IS NOT COVERED BY ANY SAFETY PROGRAM? *JB UPDATED IVOQ 07/19/12. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH. THE CONTACT HAD TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, TURN OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE FOR THE POWER STEERING ASSIST TO RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,600 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 97,984.
2006 SATURN ION. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO RECALLS RELATED TO FUEL LEAKS CAUSED BY A FAULTY HOSE ON THE FUEL PUMP. *TGW THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THERE WAS NO RECALL IN THE STATE HE RESIDES IN. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A GASOLINE FUEL ODOR WAS PRESENT INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A FUEL LEAK IN THE FUEL LINE. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED TO REMEDY THE DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 50 MPH WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED EXTREME DIFFICULTIES IN MAINTAINING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE POWER STEERING WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
ON AND OFF FOR THE PAST YEAR MY CAR HAS HAD MOMENTS WHEN IT WOULD SHUT OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING. AT FIRST IT WOULD HAPPEN WHEN I MAY ACCELERATE OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. ONE DAY I'M JUST DRIVING DOWN A PARKWAY AT ABOUT 40MPH, AND THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF. THE RADIO STAYED ON BUT THE ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF. LUCKILY NO OTHER CARS WERE NEAR ME AT THAT POINT. I TOOK MY CAR TO SEVERAL MECHANICS AND THEY ALL SAID IT MAY BE THE BATTERY. WE CHANGED THE BATTERY AND THAT DIDN'T STOP THE PROBLEM. MOST RECENTLY, I PULLED OUT INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC. I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN, AT THAT MOMENT, MORE THAN 10MPH AND THE CAR SHUT OFF AGAIN WITH CARS RAPIDLY SPEEDING UP ON ME AND MY CAR NOT MOVING. IT WAS TERRIFYING AND I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. *TR
CAR BEGAN TO MAKE EXCESSIVE RATTLING AND CLUNKING IN FRONT END AND THE STEERING FELT VERY LOOSE. TOOK TO GM DEALER AND THEY FOUND THE ENTIRE FRONT END PRETTY MUCH SHOT. CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS, SWAY BAR LINKS, AND STRUTS ALL REPLACED. THE DEALER SAID THE STEERING COLUMN WAS FRACTURED AND NEAR FAILURE. STEERING I SHAFT AND COLUMN WERE REPLACED. AROUND $3000 IN PARTS AND LABOR AT 71000, NOT MY IDEA OF A QUALITY BUILT VEHICLE. MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD FOR SOMETHING WITH THIS KIND OF MILEAGE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH THE POWER STEERING FAILED. HE TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND ONCE RESTARTED, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WAS RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING MOTOR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,500. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURES DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.

STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE IN CAR. GAS LEAKING UNDER THE CAR. IT HAS A CRACK IN THE FITTING ON THE FUEL PUMP. THE SAME PROBLEM GM HAS HAD A PARTIAL RECALL ON. INFORMED BY SATURN THAT OUR CAR ISN'T COVERED BY THE RECALL. HOW CAN THIS BE WHEN ITS THE EXACT SAME PART AND PROBLEM. WE ARE NOT HAPPY WITH GM OR SATURN AND WILL NEVER BY OTHER GM AGAIN IF THIS IS HOW THEY DO BUSINESS. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT ALTHOUGH IT BECAME VERY HARD TO STEER, HE WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND WAS 72,691.

A FUEL TANK LEAK WAS LATER DISCOVERED BY THE CONTACT AND THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED, WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 135,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY STATED THAT THE VIN FAILED TO QUALIFY FOR REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 47,000.
I HAVE A 2006 SATURN ION-2. EVERY MORNING WHEN I GET IN MY CAR AND I GO TO START IT DOESN'T START AND THE PASSLOCK LIGHT COMES ON. WHEN I CALLED SATURN THE SAID IT IS MY IGNITION SWITCH. THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO ALL VARIETIES OF SATURN MODELS, INCLUDING ONES BEFORE 2006. I HAVE READ MANY REVIEWS AND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM WITH THEIR SATURN. IF SATURN OR GM SEES THIS HAPPENING HOW COME THIS HAS NOT BEEN DECLARED AS A RECALL? I WOULD LIKE SATURN TO FIX THE ISSUE SINCE THE BAD THING IS THEY KNOW ABOUT IT AND IF YOU ARE OUT OF WARRANTY YOU ARE PAYING FOR A PROBLEM SATURN SHOULD HAVE RECALLED, BUT INSTEAD THEY MAKE MONEY OFF THE PROBLEM. *TR

THE FAILURE OCCURRED THREE TIMES OVER A PERIOD OF THREE YEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
2006 SATURN ION. CONSUMER RECEIVED REPAIRS DUE TO RECALL AND IS SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT. *TA THE IGNITION CYLINDER AND IGNITION SWITCH WERE REPLACED ON APRIL 6, 2012. ON AUGUST 8, 2012, THE IGNITION LOCK AD IGNITION HOUSING WERE REPLACED. *JB
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATIONS THE POWER STEERING ON THE VEHICLE WENT OUT. WE WERE ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING DESPITE IT BEING VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE CARS STEERING WHEEL. HOWEVER AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING IT THE POWER STEERING UNIT WORKED AGAIN. FIGURED THIS OUT AFTER READING OTHER PEOPLES COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE ONLINE. *TR
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED. DRIVING BETWEEN 55 AND 60MPH. FINALLY ABLE TO PULL OVER. TURNED OFF ENGINE AND UPON RESTART, POWER STEERING WAS RESTORED. THIS FAILURE HAS CONTINUED TO OCCUR ON A DAILY BASIS. VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
RECEIVED A "PWR STR" (POWER STEERING) WARNING WHILE BACKING UP A DRIVEWAY. POWER STEERING DID NOT RETURN TO NORMAL OPERATION. POWER STEERING IS ELECTRIC IN THIS VEHICLE - SO NO BELTS OR FLUIDS ARE USED. ALSO RECEIVED A "TRAC OFF" (TRACTION SYSTEM - OFF) WARNING AT THE SAME TIME. NO BLOWN FUSES WERE FOUND. CAR IS AT GM SERVICE FOR REPAIR. *TR
FUEL PUMP BEGAN TO LEAK CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITHOUT REPAIRS. 2006 SATURN ION COUPE HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR SAME ISSUE THAT WE ARE HAVING WITH THE SEDAN MODEL. *JS

THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 92,000.
I OWN A 2006 SATURN ION 2 4D SEDAN. I AM THE SOLE OWNER OF MY VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AND CURRENTLY HAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000 MILES. TRAVELING HOME ON A BUSY HIGHWAY, I HEARD MY NOTIFICATION SOUND GO OFF AND MY MESSAGE INDICATOR READ "PWR STR" AND MY STEERING WHEEL IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO STALL. TRYING NOT TO PANIC, I ASSUMED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD STILL BE OPERATIONAL BUT I NOTICED IT WAS BECOMING INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. I MANAGED TO EXIT THE BUSY INTERSTATE AND ONCE I GOT TO THE STOP LIGHT I NOTICED I COULD NO LONGER MOVE THE WHEEL. I TURNED MY CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT SEEMED TO WORK SO I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME. UNACCEPTABLE!! THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO HAPPEN ON A BUSY INTERSTATE OR ANYWHERE FOR THAT MATTER. I AM SCARED TO DEATH TO DRIVE THIS CAR IN FEAR THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. WHAT IF I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY? THIS WAS A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS!!!!! *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE POWER STEERING JUST STOPS WORKING YOU HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE SAFELY. *JS
I COULD NOT TURN OFF THE CAR AND REMOVE THE KEY. THE KEY WAS FROZEN IN THE ON POSITION. SINCE THE CAR WAS RUNNING, I DROVE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE IGNITION SYSTEM AND CHARGED ME $650.00. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THIS IS VERY COMMON WITH SATURNS. THIS COULD POTENTIALLY BE DANGEROUS. IT IS A DEFECT AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH. THE CONTACT STOPPED AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. UPON RESTART, THE VEHICLE WOULD OPERATE AS NORMAL MOMENTARILY BEFORE THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,500.

I WAS DRIVING MY CAR WHEN MY CONSUL READ THE PHRASE "PWR STR" MEANING THAT MY POWER STEERING WAS MALFUNCTIONING AND NO LONGER WORKED UNTIL I PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE CAR AND THAT RESET THE POWER STEERING. THIS NOW HAPPENS ABOUT TWO TO THREE TIMES EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY CAR. *TR
KEY LOCKS UP IN IGNITION AND WILL NOT TURN TO OFF POSITION. KEY IS STUCK AND WILL NOT RELEASE FROM IGNITION. TO GET KEY OUT CAR MUST BE TURNED TO ON POSITION AND BACK OFF AGAIN. FRIENDS OF OURS ALSO HAD A SATURN ION FROM 2005 AND THEY HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THE KEY WOULD BECOME STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO START THE CAR AND TURN IT OFF (SOMETIMES SEVERAL TIMES) TO GET THE KEY OUT. OUR WORRY IS THAT THE PROBLEM WILL BECOME MORE EXTREME AND DANGEROUS WHERE WE CANNOT TURN THE CAR OFF (AS I HAVE READ IN OTHER COMPLAINTS) AS WELL AS NOT BEING ABLE TO EVENTUALLY FREE THE KEY. THIS IS A DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED! *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WILL AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF. I CAN BE ON THE FREEWAY AT 55 MILES AND THE CAR WILL JUST DIE. I CAN BE AT A STOP LIGHT AND THE CAR WILL DIE. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN AND TWICE THEY SAID THEY FOUND NOTHING HOWEVER THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. I THOUGHT THAT WITH THE RECALL REPAIR OF THE IGNITION SWITCH IT MIGHT HELP BUT IT HASN'T AND MY KEY STILL GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AT TIMES AND I DON'T EVEN HAVE ANYTHING HANGING ON THE KEY ONLY THE REMOTE. BASICALLY ONCE YOU FEEL THE CAR LOSING POWER AND ALL DASH LIGHTS SHOW UP, YOU NEED TO RESTART THE CAR TO PROCEED. VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY ON THE ROAD. *TR
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY,POWER STEERING LIGHT WENT ON ANDWAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. HAD TO PUT IN NEUTRAL AND TURN OFF AND TURN ON MY CAR ON THE FREEWAY, JUST SO THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD UNLOCK. THIS WILL BE MY THIRD TIME FIXING THIS PROBLEM. *TR

WE WERE DRIVING TO PICK UP A FRIEND OF MINE, AND WHILE PARKED OUTSIDE THE ESTABLISHMENT WHERE I WAS PICKING THIS FRIEND UP FROM I NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS BECOMING INCREASINGLY HARDER TO TURN, TO THE POINT WHERE I WAS ALMOST UNABLE TO TURN IT, SO I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE AFTER. I DROVE TO ANOTHER PLACE IN TOWN AND WAS PARKED THERE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND HALF, MAYBE TWO HOURS, WHEN I TURNED ON THE CAR ALL SEEMED WELL UNTIL I ROLLED THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW DOWN AND IT WOULD NOT ROLL BACK UP SO I DROVE TO A GAS STATION A FEW BLOCKS AWAY TO SEE IF I COULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND AS SOON AS I PULLED INTO THE PARKING SLOT AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK, IT JUST SHUT ITSELF OFF AND WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON AND THE DISPLAY ON THE DASH HAD A READ OUT THAT SAID "PWR STR". AFTER AN HOUR WAIT AT 3AM AT A GAS STATION ACROSS TOWN FROM WHERE I LIVE I WAS LUCKY THAT I HAD A KIND ENOUGH FRIEND TO COME JUMP START MY CAR. WHEN WE DID FINALLY GET THE CAR TO START THE POWER STEERING DID NOT WORK AT ALL AND I HAD TO USE THE MANUAL STEERING ON THE DRIVE HOME. ONCE I GOT THE CAR SAFELY HOME AND PARKED IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN AND IT HAS THE SAME READOUT THAT SAYS "PWR STR" ON THE DASH. I HAVE NOT DROVE THE CAR SINCE FOR SAFETY REASONS AS WELL AS NOT WANTING TO GET STUCK SOMEWHERE ELSE IN TOWN OTHER THAN HOME. PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PART AS IT SEEMS TO ALREADY BE AN OVERWHELMING PROBLEM WITH A LOT OF OTHER OWNERS AND HAS ALREADY BEEN RECALLED ON TWO OTHER MODELS OF VEHICLES. *TR
POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAILS AT RANDOM, NO DISCERNIBLE PATTERN. POWER STEERING SYSTEM SEEMS TO RESET AFTER STOPPING AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE BECOME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER...CAUSING DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. *TR

THE POWER STEERING WARNING CHIME BEEPED AS THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD TO USE EXTREME FORCE IN ORDER TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED OR FOR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
