I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO TURN OFF MY IGNITION OR REMOVE MY KEY TWO SEPARATE TIMES. NOT ONLY THAT MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND WAS ONLY ABLE TO BE FIXED BY THE DEALERSHIP. MOST RECENTLY ALONG WITH THE KEY IGNITION PROBLEM, THERE IS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME THE IGNITION WAS FIXED IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY BUT THIS TIME IT IS NOT. I HAVE READ SEVERAL BLOGS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM SUFFERING CONSUMERS. *TR
MY CAR WOULD NOT TURN OFF AND MY KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE LAST JULY, THE EXACT SAME ISSUE!!!! I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AND THAT "CORRECTED" THIS PROBLEM LAST YEAR AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN BECAUSE THEY WOULD HAVE TO MAKE SURE THAT IT WAS IN FACT THE SAME ISSUE, IN WHICH IT WAS. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $40 FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT WAS RAN ON THE VEHICLE AND THAT IT WAS GOING TO COST 451.51+TAX TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AND THAT THE WARRANTY ON THE PART EXPIRED 12 MONTHS AFTER THE REPAIR FOR THE FIRST INCIDENT. THE FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, I CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER OF THE CAR MAKER AND THE ONLY THING THAT HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT THE FAILURE IS THAT THEY ARE GOING TO CALL ME BACK AND THAT THEY WILL DO THEIR BEST TO GIVE ME A DISCOUNT ON REPAIRS. I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHY MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO HAVE REPEATED ISSUES WITH THE IGNITION SYSTEM LOCKING UP? IS THE PART DEFECTIVE? AND IF SO WHY HASN'T THE MANUFACTURER DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT? *TR
1. NO ABNORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES, SIMPLY TURNED OFF AT NIGHT, AND RETURNED IN THE MORNING TO A CAR WITH PERFECTLY WORKING ELECTRICAL BUT WILL NOT REACT WHEN TURNING THE CAR FURTHER. 2. IT OCCURS RANDOMLY, THE CONSEQUENCES ARE THAT MY CAR IS USELESS AT THE TIME THAT I NEED IT MOST, THE MORNING BEFORE WORK. 3. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING... IT IS A SATURN ION. THE ISSUE IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET, AND THE FIX IS COMPLICATED, LEAVING YOUR CAR ON FOR 10 MINUTES TO GET AROUND THE PASS LOCK. IF YOUR BATTERY SURVIVES YOUR CAR WILL WORK AFTERWARD. *TR
I PURCHASED A GM CERTIFIED 2006 SATURN ION WITH 41000 MILES ON THE CAR AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS OF DRIVING MY POWER STEERING HAVE BEEN GIVING ME PROBLEMS. A WARNING CHIME COMES ON AND "PWR STR" SHOWS UP ON MY DASHBOARD, I WOULD THEN LOOSE POWER TO MY STEERING AND MAKES IT VERY HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL. IF I SHUT OFF THE MOTOR AND RESTART THE CAR THE POWER STEERING IS OK BUT ONLY FOR A SHORT WHILE UNTIL THE POWER STEERING GO OUT AGAIN. I CALLED THE DEALER AND TOLD ME IT WOULD COST ABOUT $800-$1000 TO REPAIR THE STEERING. I ALSO GOOGLE AND FOUND OUT THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS OF SATURN ION AND CHEVROLET COBALTS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER STEERING. IS THERE A RECALL WITH THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ON THE GM'S COMPACT CARS? *TR
I CURRENTLY OWN A 2006 SATURN ION, WHICH I BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN 2005 AND HAS 52000 MILES ON IT. ALL WINTER LONG, DURING DAYS WITH TEMPERATURES BELOW 40 DEGREES, MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. UPON PLACING THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION AND TURNING, THE "PASSLOCK" THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED AND LOCKS MY CAR'S STARTER FROM FIRING FOR 10 MINUTES. THE REST OF THE ELECTRICAL DEVICES IN MY CAR WORK, BUT THE STARTER BECOMES LOCKED OUT FOR 10 MINUTES BEFORE I CAN TRY AGAIN. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH SATURN IONS. APPARENTLY THE GREASE WHICH IS LOCATED WITHIN THE IGNITION SYSTEM FREEZES AT COLDER TEMPERATURES AND THUS THE IGNITION SWITCH DOES NOT RECOGNIZE MY KEY. SINCE IT DOES NOT RECOGNIZE MY KEY, THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM LOCKS MY CAR OUT FOR THE 10 MINUTE LOCK OUT PERIOD. SOMETIMES I CAN TRY 6 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF 1 HOUR AND THE CAR STILL WILL NOT START. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION ON VERY COLD DAYS. I LIVE IN THE NORTHEAST AND THIS PAST WINTER WE HAD RECORD SNOWFALL WITH MANY DAYS DIPPING INTO THE 0'S, 10'S, 20'S AND 30'S. IT WOULD BE VERY UNFORTUNATE IF SOMEONE WERE TO DIE OF EXPOSURE TO THE ELEMENTS SINCE A CAR HAS NO HEAT WITHOUT THE ENGINE RUNNING. SOMEONE COULD DIE FROM BEING STRANDED IN THE COLD DUE TO AN IGNITION SWITCH WHICH GM/ SATURN COULD REPLACE FOR $50. I KNOW I SPENT MANY COLD DAYS (~5-6 PER WEEK) SITTING IN MY FREEZING COLD CAR FOR SOMETIMES OVER AN HOUR JUST PRAYING THAT MY CAR WOULD START SO I COULD GET SOME HEAT. PLEASE MAKE GM/ SATURN FIX THIS PROBLEM SO WE ARE NO LONGER LEFT OUT IN THE COLD!!!! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30-40 MPH, THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER, PARKED AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. AFTER RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE BEHAVED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT AND THE FAILURE BECAME AN EVERYDAY OCCURRENCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 58,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,414.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION LEVEL 2. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE POWER STEERING WOULD INTERMITTENTLY Y FAIL. THE CONTACT WOULD SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND WHEN RESTARTING, THE POWER STEERING WOULD RESET INDEPENDENTLY. BOTH THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE AND OFFERED NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH; A CHIME SOUNDED AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IMMEDIATELY, THERE WAS A LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THE DRIVER PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE AND OPERATE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD CONCERN OF THE SAFETY ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
2006 SATURN ION-3 AUTOMATIC 2.4L 1. POWER STEERING: POWER STEERING GOES OUT NEARLY EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE. SATURN DEALERSHIP CHANGED A SENSOR I THE STEERING COLUMN, BUT PROBLEM PERSISTS. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING IN THE CITY WITHOUT POWER STEERING. 2. IGNITION: CAR REFUSES TO START WHEN TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 15-20 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED IN BELOW FREEZING WEATHER FOR ALMOST AN HOUR BECAUSE OF THIS COMMON SATURN FAILURE. *TR
MY CAR WILL NOT ALWAYS START, IT GETS A PICTURE OF THE CAR WITH A PADLOCK ON THE DASH BUT WILL NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO TURN OVER. IT DOES AT LEAST THREE TIMES A WEEK AND TODAY IT DID IT FOUR TIMES ALONE. IT WILL START IN EXACTLY 10 MINUTES FROM THE FIRST TIME I TRIED TO START IT. SO IN THE MEAN TIME MY CHILDREN AND I SIT THERE IN THE COLD AND WAIT. OR MY ASTHMATIC CHILDREN HOPEFULLY DO NOT STOP BREATHING. I HAVE CALLED SATURN NUMEROUS TIMES AND ALL THEY TELL ME IS ITS THE IGNITION HOUSING WE CAN FIX IT FOR OVER 300 DOLLARS BUT IT WILL GO OUT AGAIN IN THREE MONTHS, WHICH THEY SAY WILL BE THE PATTERN FOR THE LIFE OF THE CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH THE POWER STEERING LIGHT FLASHED AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER. THE CONTACT IS CURRENTLY HAVING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST FOR REPAIRS. THE CONTACTS FEELS THIS VEHICLE COULD HAVE CAUSE A CRASH WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. JO

THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF HIS HOUSE IN IDLE WHEN SUDDENLY THE SPEEDOMETER READ 120 MPH. UPDATED 01/22/10
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AS LOW WAS 20 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, FOLLOWED BY A DINGING ALARM. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD BECOME EXTREMELY STIFF AND ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN. SHE WOULD HAVE TO USE BOTH HANDS WITH EXTREME BODILY FORCE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION. WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE ENGINE OFF AND THEN RESTARTING, THE POWER STEERING WOULD RESET ITSELF AND RETURN TO NORMAL. TO DATE, THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A DIAGNOSIS ON THE FAILURE. THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE FAILURE 67,000 AND THE CURRENT WAS 67,662.
A FEW WEEKS AGO, MY 2006 SATURN ION LOST POWER STEERING CAPABILITY WHILE I WAS ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY (DOING 65MPH)! NEEDLESS TO SAY, I NARROWLY AVOIDED A MAJOR ACCIDENT AND WAS DISMAYED TO SUBSEQUENTLY FIND OUT THAT I HAVE A DEFECTIVE STEERING COLUMN MOTOR (ACCORDING TO THE LOCAL SATURN DEALERSHIP) WHICH WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AND IS NOT CURRENTLY UNDER WARRANTY. I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2007 SOMEWHAT RELUCTANTLY SINCE IT ALREADY HAD 40,000 MILES ON IT BUT IT WAS THE ONLY ONE AVAILABLE AFTER A MAJOR ACCIDENT WITH MY FIRST SATURN FOR IMMEDIATE DELIVERY. I WAS AT A NEW JOB AND NEEDED A CAR DESPERATELY. I CHOSE SATURN AGAIN BECAUSE OF THE BRAND'S RELIABILITY, EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND MY OWN PERSONAL SATISFACTION AS A PREVIOUS SATURN OWNER. WHEN I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE LAST WEEK TO CHECK WHETHER THIS POWER STEERING FAILURE WAS A RECALL ITEM, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WASN'T AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO REGISTER A COMPLAINT TO SEE WHAT OPTIONS WERE AVAILABLE FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIR. TODAY I WAS INFORMED BY GM/SATURN CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT THEY WILL NOT COVER THE $525.00 REPAIR OF THIS MAJOR DEFECT SINCE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND THE CAR HAD ACCORDING TO THEM, "EXCESS MILEAGE" (AT 50,000 MILES, A 3-YR. OLD CAR SHOULD NOT LOSE A MAJOR COMPONENT SUCH AS THE POWER STEERING TO MY THINKING). I WAS SERIOUSLY CONCERNED ENOUGH ABOUT THIS DEFECT TO CONTACT YOU TO SEE IF YOU CAN BRING SOME RESOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE. I'VE DONE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THOUSANDS OF SATURN ION OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE IN PRECARIOUS DRIVING SITUATIONS. IS GM WAITING FOR A FATALITY BEFORE THEY ISSUE A RECALL, OR IS IT BECAUSE THE COMPANY IS BANKRUPT THAT THEY DECIDED TO PLAY RUSSIAN ROULETTE WITH OUR SAFETY? NEEDLESS TO SAY, MY TRUST AND FAITH IN GM IS COMPROMISED AND I AM NOT WILLING TO PAY FOR A REPAIR THAT SHOULD BE COVERED. *TR
2006 SATURN ION DOES NOT START ALTHOUGH ALL LIGHTS COME UP ON DASHBOARD. BATTERY IS FINE(HAD IT CHECKED) BUT THE STARTER DOES NOT ROLL OVER. AFTER 45 MINUTES (AND BATTERY REATTACHED) CAR STARTED. THIS OCCURRED TWICE, ONCE ON APRIL 1ST 2009 AND AGAIN NOV 21ST 2009. PROBABLY WEATHER RELATED AS BOTH DAYS WERE FAIRLY COOL AND PRECEDED BY RAIN. *TR

MY SON'S 2006 SATURN ION HAS ELECTRIC POWER STEERING PROBLEMS. IT INTERMITTENTLY STOPS WORKING WHILE HE IS DRIVING, IT WILL ONLY START WORKING AGAIN IF YOU PULL OVER, TURN THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTART THE CAR. IF YOU LOOK AT ON-LINE FORUMS OUR VEHICLE IS NOT THE ONLY SATURN WITH ELECTRIC POWER STEERING PROBLEMS. SINCE THE ION IS THE SAME PLATFORM AS THE COBALT, WHY WOULD THE ION NOT HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN GENERAL MOTORS RECENT RECALL OF SMALL CARS WITH ELECTRIC POWER STEERING PROBLEMS? WOULD YOU ASK GENERAL MOTORS TO RE-EVALUATE THE SCOPE OF THEIR RECALL? SURELY LOSING POWER STEERING IS MORE DANGEROUS THAN HAVING HEAVY STEERING AT SLOW SPEEDS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. SHE SMELLED A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE INSIDE OF HER VEHICLE. A MECHANIC CONCLUDED THAT A FUEL LEAK WAS PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER IN WHICH SHE WAS ADVISED THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC FEE PRIOR TO INSPECTION. ALSO THE VEHICLE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY LOOSE POWER STEERING. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED HER THAT THE STEERING COMPONENT WOULD BE REPAIRED AS A FREE REMEDY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 49,865.
THE POWER STEERING FAILS WHILE DRIVING SEVERAL TIMES DURING A SINGLE TRIP. I NEED TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN BACK ON IN ORDER TO RESET THE POWER STEERING ERROR MSG THAT APPEARS ON DASH... NOT LONG AFTER THAT IT FAILS AGAIN. THERE HAVE BEEN THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE WEB. THE VEHICLE IS A 2006 SATURN ION 2. DEALER SAYS ITS A COMPUTER CHIP IN STEERING COLUMN. I HAVE YET TO GET REPAIRED DUE TO OUTRAGEOUS REPAIR COSTS. SATURN NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL, AND NEED TO STOP STEALING PEOPLES MONEY WHILE PUTTING THEY'RE LIVES IN JEOPARDY WITH A FAULTY STEERING SYSTEM THAT FAILS AT HIGH OR LOW SPEEDS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHICH CAUSED HER TO LOSE STEERING CONTROL. THE CONTACT SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF WHICH ALLOWED THE POWER STEERING TO RESET. ALTHOUGH SHE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO HER RESIDENCE, THE FOLLOWING DAY THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE CLOSEST DEALER TO HER RESIDENCE IS CURRENTLY OUT OF BUSINESS. A LOCAL MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND THE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 75,000.
MY 2006 SATURN ION IS NOT STARTING OCCASIONALLY IN COLD AND WET WEATHER. I CALLED THE SATURN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THE REP THOUGHT IT WAS A SECURITY SYSTEM ISSUE AND WANTED ME TO DRIVE IT 2.5 HOURS AWAY TO A SATURN DEALERSHIP, AND THEY MIGHT HELP ME OUT. HMMM, I LOOK ONLINE AND HUNDREDS, MAYBE THOUSANDS, OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. CAN'T THEY ISSUE A RECALL? IF IT IS SO COMMON AND THE SYMPTOMS ARE IDENTICAL WHY CAN'T THEY SIMPLY TELL ME WHAT TO DO? COLD AND FRUSTRATED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WOULD INTERMITTENTLY FAIL OVER A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR WITHOUT WARNING UNTIL COMPLETELY BECOMING INOPERABLE. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST HAD FAILED AND THAT THE POWER ASSIST MODULE AND STEERING COLUMN WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
WHILE DRIVING THROUGH SHASTA ON VERY WINDY AND DANGEROUS ROADS SURROUNDED BY BIG RIG TRUCKS AND OTHER VEHICLES WHEN MY POWER STEER ON MY 2006 SATURN ION COMPLETELY STOPS WORKING. I STARTED TO LOOSE CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE WHEN I WENT TO TURN ON A TURN AND WAS ALMOST HIT BY TWO BIG RIG TRUCKS. AFTER LOTS OF SCREECHING AND HONKING I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF THEN BACK ON, THE STEERING CONTINUED TO WORK AGAIN FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THE POWER STEERING SINCE THEN HAS CONTINUED TO SHUT OFF AND I AM NOW FORCED TO DRIVE ANOTHER VEHICLE UNTIL THIS IS FIXED IN FEAR OF CAUSING A HUGE ACCIDENT. COST OF THIS REPAIR ON AVERAGE IS OVER $1100. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS HAD THIS EXACT PROBLEM, MANY HAVE AND HAVE WRITTEN ABOUT IT. I WAS ALMOST IN A HUGE ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS, I COULD ONLY IMAGINE HOW MANY COULD HAVE BEEN HURT HAD I NOT ACTED QUICKLY THE WAY I DID. *TR
OCCASIONALLY, IN THE MORNING, OUR 2006 SATURN ION 2 WILL NOT START. THE BATTERY CHECKS OUT, EVERYTHING LIGHTS UP ON THE DASH DISPLAY, BUT TURNING THE KEY GETS NO RESULT. IF WE REMOVE THE KEY AND WAIT 10 MINUTES, THE CAR WILL THEN START. I RECENTLY VISITED A BUICK SERVICE DEPT. I NEW SOMETHING WAS UP WHEN I GOT CHARGE FOR 1.5HRS LABOR WHEN IT TOOK LESS THEN 40MIN TO TAKE THE CAR REPLACE THE PART AND RETURN IT TO ME. WHEN TRY TO TALK TO VARIOUS PEOPLE AT SATURN AND GM ALL THEY WAITED TO SAY THAT IT WAS 7 MONTH OUT OF WARRANTY AND I DID NOT CARE ABOUT THAT I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT NOT BEING ABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND THAT I THOUGHT IT WAS A SAFETY PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION PURCHASED USED IN MARCH 2008. SHE STATED UPON ATTEMPTING TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF, THE KEY BECAME STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND WOULD NOT BUDGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL SATURN DEALER WHERE THE IGNITION HOUSING WAS REPLACED TO CORRECT THE FAILURE, AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. WITHIN A FEW MONTHS, THE FAILURE OCCURRED A SECOND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY FOUND THE SAME PART HAD FAILED A SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD ONLY ASSIST WITH THE REPLACEMENT COSTS OF THE PARTS BUT NOT FOR LABOR, DUE TO THE PARTS HAVING A TWO MONTH WARRANTY. THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGES WAS 40,000.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING A RECURRING FAILURE WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE KEY WOULD INTERMITTENTLY BECOME STUCK IN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN OFF WITHOUT REPEATED ATTEMPTS AT REMOVING THE KEY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT DURING THE WINTER THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY WOULD NOT START WITHOUT REPEATED ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING INSPECTED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND A POWER STEERING SERVICE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE; UPON RESTART, THE VEHICLE FUNCTIONED NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE AN UNKNOWN SERVICE WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE HAD NOT OCCURRED SINCE THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 71,000.
