I HAVE A 2007 SATURN ION, ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO I WENT TO WORK WHEN I PARK AND TRIED TO TURN THE CAR OFF THE KEY WOULDN'T TURN OFF IT WAS STUCK, THE ONLY WAY TU TURN THE CAR WAS DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY, WHEN I GOT OFF WORK I CONNECTED THE BATTERY AGAIN AND I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR ON BUT NOT OFF SO EVERY WAY A WENT FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS FROM 08-06-10 TIL NOW I HAD TO OPEN THE HOOD AND DISCONNECT THE BATTERY I JUST DON'T HAVE MONEY TO SPENT ON AN ISSUE THAT HAS MORE THE 5000 COMPLAINS REGARDING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION ON A SATURN BRAND HTTP://WWW.CONSUMERAFFAIRS.COM/AUTOMOTIVE/SATURN_IGNITION_LOCK.HTML ACCORDING TO THIS WEBSITE I HOPE WAS A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE THANK U *TR
ON AUGUST 5, 2010, MY 2007 SATURN ION DEVELOPED A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR THAT WAS NOTICEABLE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE CAR. THE CAR HAS SIMULTANEOUSLY BECOME HARD TO START. NO GAS HAS BEEN OBSERVED DRIPPING FROM UNDER THE CAR, BUT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE POTENTIAL FOR FIRE. I HAVE ALSO FOUND THAT GM ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM, BUT IT DOES NOT COVER CARS IN MY STATE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND LESS THEN A MINUTE LATER THE POWER STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. THE WHEEL WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND THEN BACK ON IT BEGAN TO DRIVE NORMALLY. THE DEALERS DIAGNOSTIC TEST INDICATED THAT SHE NEEDED A POWER STEERING MOTOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 112000.
I WOULD BE ON MY WAY TO WORK OR TO THE STORE AND THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY CAR LOST ALL POWER, AND WOULD SHUT ITS SELF DOWN. THEREFORE CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO COAST OFF TO THE SIDE SOMEWHERE WITH MY POWER STEERING LOCKED UP. ONCE MY CAR WOULD START RUNNING AGAIN ANY WHERE FROM 10- 20 MINS MY POWER STEERING WOULDN'T FUNCTION FOR THE FIRST 2 MINS CAUSING ME TO SIT AND WAIT TILL IT KICKS IN. NOT ONLY DOES THIS HAPPEN, BUT WHEN I GET LOW ON GAS AND GO TO FILL UP, AFTER PUTTING GAS IN MY CAR IT WONT START!!!! I HAVE TO SIT THERE ABOUT 10 MINS CRANKING TRYING TO GET IT TO START UP ONCE I DO I CANT RELEASE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS FOR ABOUT 3 MIN OR MY CAR DIES. *TR

POWER STEERING MOTOR FAILS ON MY SATURN ION 2007 DAILY. CAR MUST BE RESTARTED FOR THE MOTOR TO BEGIN WORKING AGAIN. VERY UNSAFE FOR DRIVING! *TR
KEY BECOMES STUCK IN IGNITION - OWNER UNABLE TO TURN VEHICLE OFF. HAD TO PULL THE FUSE IN ORDER TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND TOW. *TR
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2007 SATURN ION REDLINE WITH 65,000 MILES. DURING THE FIRST WEEK IN AUGUST 2010 I NOTICED A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. I WALKED AROUND THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE SMELL WAS EVEN STRONGER TOWARD THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR A POSSIBLE CAUSE, I DISCOVERED MY VEHICLE HAS A CURRENT RECALL FOR THE FUEL PUMP. "MANUFACTURER: GENERAL MOTORS CORP. MFR'S REPORT DATE: OCT 22, 2009 NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V419000 N/A NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: N/A COMPONENT: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP" HOWEVER, THIS RECALL ONLY PERTAINS TO CERTAIN STATES, OF WHICH MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PURCHASED IN AND IS NOT CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN. A LEAK IN THE FUEL SYSTEM IS A MAJOR SAFETY RISK AS IT CAN RESULT IN FIRES OR EXPLOSIONS DURING NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS OR ACCIDENTS. NEW JERSEY AS WELL AS THE REST OF THE NATION NEED TO BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL NOTICE DUE TO THE CLEAR DEFECT PRESENT IN THE VEHICLES MANUFACTURING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. WHILE TRAVELING AT 35 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE THEN LOSS STEERING CAPABILITIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 38,000.
2007 SATURN ION/4DR SEDAN WITH 16,145 HAD REPLACE BOTH STABILIZER LINKS AND BOTH LOWER CONTROL BUSHINGS. THE SAFETY OF THE BRAKES AND STEERING COULD EASILY BEEN EFFECT. ONLY 16,145 MILES ON IT. MANY OTHER SATURNS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
TRAVELING EASTBOUND ON I-94, MILE MARKER 41. LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. VEHICLE CRASH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON A CONSISTENT BASIS. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO ADVISED HER THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED NOR HAD THE VEHICLE BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
2007 SATURN ION ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILS UNEXPECTEDLY. VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER AT LOW SPEEDS. HAVE CHECKED FUSES, CONNECTIONS, AND WIRING. ALL APPEARS NORMAL. USUALLY OCCURS AT LOW SPEED IN A TURN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH WHERE A VEHICLE CUT IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT AND A PASSENGER SUSTAINED SHOULDER AND CHEST INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE POLICE OFFICER STATED THAT THE IMPACT SHOULD HAVE WARRANTED AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. PRIOR TO THE CRASH, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED FOR THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,786 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WHICH IS A 10 MILE COMMUTE. DURING THE COMMUTE, THERE IS A 900 FOOT MOUNTAIN WITH A SLIGHT GRADE AND I WAS DESCENDING THE HILL WHEN ON THE INFORMATION DISPLAY, IT STATED THAT THERE WAS A POWER STEERING PROBLEM AND WHEN I WENT INTO A TURN, THE STEERING WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. I PULLED OVER, TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON, AND EVERYTHING WAS WORKING FINE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE KEYS WERE STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND WOULD NOT TURN THE ENGINE OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE LOCK CYLINDER BROKE INTO SEVERAL PIECES AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR $400 AND WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY OR RECALL. THE SATURN MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT THERE WAS NO ANSWER. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 53,711.
SATURN 2007 ION PWR STR WARNING WILL COME ON. THE POWER STEERING WILL QUIT. IF I TURN OFF THE CAR THEN TURN IT BACK ON THE CAR IS FINE AGAIN. *TR
MY 2007 SATURN ION LOST POWER STEERING ON THE HIGHWAY, I FOUND OUT IT HAS ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD SAFELY, BUT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ISSUE. IT IS INTERMITTENT BUT I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE AS MANY OWNERS I FOUND ONLINE COMPLAIN OF SAME ISSUE. MY LOCAL DEALER AS SEEN MANY VEHICLES COME IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. HAD IT BEEN RAINING OR A STOP FAST SITUATION I WOULD HAVE HAD NO TURNING CONTROL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE POWER STEERING LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND WITHIN A FEW SECONDS, THE POWER STEERING STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED AND THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 46000.
2007 SATURN ION POWER STEERING MOTOR NEEDED REPLACEMENT AFTER ONLY 49,000 MILES. WHEN DRIVING THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THE KEY WOULD INTERMITTENTLY FAIL TO RELEASE FROM THE IGNITION. ON ONE OCCASION, SHE WAS UNABLE TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE KEY BEING RESISTANT TO MOVEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 33,000. UPDATED 09/09/10. *LJ THE IGNITION CYLINDER WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 09/14/10*JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A WARNING CHIME AND NOTICED THAT THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. WITHIN SECONDS, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,110 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 31,120.
FRIDAY 09,2010 GOODYEAR ASSURANCE TIRE THREADS SEPARATED ON 2007 SATURN ION WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO MAKE A WHIPPING SOUND FOR WHICH I PULLED OVER THINKING I HAD A FLAT. I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING WRONG AND THE FOLLOWING MONDAY JULY 12,2010 TOOK CAR TO GET OIL CHANGED AND LET MECHANIC KNOW OF WHAT HAD HAPPENED. CAR WAS SERVICED AND MECHANIC ADV COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG..DROVE CAR STILL WORRIED CAR KEPT MAKING STRANGE SOUND AND NOTICE TIRE NEEDED AIR BUT WAS NOT FLAT WHEN I WAS CHECKING TIRE I HAPPEN TO NOTICE THROUGH THE INSIDE MY TIRE I SAW I HAD A WIDE PORTION OF MISSING. PLACED SPARE AND DROVE TO FIRESTONE TO GET TIRES REPLACED. *TR
I GET TO WORK TODAY AND I CAN'T CUT OFF MY 2007 SATURN ION. CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP AND ONLY REMEDY PROVIDED IS TO DANGEROUSLY DISCONNECT THE WIRE HARNESS UNDER THE WHEEL FROM THE BATTERY TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN PAY $300-500 DOLLARS TO HAVE IT REPAIRED WITH NO REASON WHY IT FAILED OR THAT IT WON'T GO OUT AGAIN. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND THE PARTS ARE DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED BY SATURN. *TR
CAR WILL NOT SHUT OFF, AFTER CONTACTING DEALER WAS ADVISED TO DISCONNECT THE WIRING HARNESS FROM THE BATTERY. WHEEL SPORADICALLY LOCKS UP WHILE DRIVING WHICH CAN CAUSES YOU TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. NO WARNING LIGHTS COME ON AT ALL. PREVIOUSLY HAD THIS SAME ISSUE WITH POWER STEERING IN DECEMBER WHICH WENT OUT AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. GM HAS RECALLED SEVERAL VEHICLES FOR THIS SAME SAFETY HAZARD HOWEVER DID NOT INCLUDE SATURNS IN THE RECALL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 SATURN ION. WHEN THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE SHE SAW A PWRSTR CODE ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE FUNCTIONED NORMALLY WHEN SHE DROVE IT, HOWEVER, AFTER SHE TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT THE POWER STEERING FAILED COMPLETELY. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS RELATED TO STEERING. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED AT THE HER EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 41,538.
POWER STEERING KEEPS CUTTING OUT OF MY 2007 SATURN ION. MAKES IT HARD TO STEER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT NOTICED AN OVERPOWERING GASOLINE FUEL ODOR WHEN FIRST STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: DELIVERY: FUEL PUMP) BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT QUALIFY FOR RECALL REPAIRS DUE TO THE VEHICLE MILEAGE. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED TO COMPENSATE THE CONTACT FOR FIFTY PERCENT OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
POWER STEERING FAILS. THE POWER STEERING QUITS WORKING WHILE DRIVING MAKING THE VEHICLE OPERATE W/O THE AID OF POWER STEERING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF A DRIVER HAD TO MAKE A SUDDEN TURN TO AVOID A ROAD OBSTRUCTION OF ANOTHER CAR. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2007 SATURN ION TO VISIT FAMILY IN KY WHILE I AM IN THE MIDDLE EAST(MILITARY) WE LIVE IN VA SO THIS IS QUITE A DRIVE. MY WIFE WHILE DRIVING THE CAR NOTICED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND SHORTLY AFTER THE CAR JERKED VERY HARD WHILE TRAVELING AT LIKE 60MPH, MY WIFE STATED THAT IT FELT LIKE SHE WAS REARENDED BUT WAS NOT, CAUSING HER TO SWERVE SOME I AM GLAD NOTHING HAPPENED CAUSE MY 2 LITTLE BOYS WERE IN THE CAR AS WELL. SO MY WIFE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WE BOUGHT IT FROM, WHICH IS NO LONGER A SATURN DEALER BUT STILL A GM COMPANY. THEY SAID WE NEED TO REPLACE OUR FUEL PUMP, AND FUEL INJECTORS. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON PARTS AND CAME ACROSS THE RECALL ON THE FUEL PUMP AND CALLED THE 800 # LISTED AND THEY CALLED MY WIFE TO TALK TO HER AND THEY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP WE BOUGHT THE CAR FROM STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WHILE FAULTED IS NOT FAULTED DUE TO A DEFECT AND THAT THEY WILL NOT COVER THE COST AND THAT IF WE WANT IT FIXED IT WILL COST OVER 1000 DOLLARS. MY WIFE AND I FEEL THAT THIS IS TOO MUCH OF A COINCIDENCE TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS THE CASE. HAD SOMETHING ELSE HAPPENED AND MY WIFE WAS TO BE IN A WRECK AND MY FAMILY WAS TO BE HARMED AND THE DIAGNOSES WAS THAT THE FUEL PUMP HAD FAULTED WHILE DRIVING I WOULD BE MAKING SURE THAT MY LIFE WAS DEVOTED TO CLOSING THIS VIAL COMPANY FOR THE GOOD OF HUMANITY. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 SATURN ION WHICH WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN THE STATE OF ILLINOIS. I STARTED SMELLING A LARGE AMOUNT OF GAS INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO. THEN IT STARTED LEAKING GAS NEAR THE RIGHT BACK TIRE WELL. WE TOOK IT TO GET LOOKED AT AND THE MECHANIC STATED THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WAS CRACKED AND LEAKING GAS 3 INCHES AWAY FROM MY MUFFLER WHICH IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IF IGNITED IN SOME WAY THE CAR COULD CATCH FIRE. I LOOKED UP ANY KNOWN ISSUES WITH THIS MODEL OF VEHICLE AND I FOUND A RECALL THAT WAS ISSUED OCT 2009 FOR 2007 SATURN IONS IN A LOT OF STATES BUT NOT ILLINOIS. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS POTENTIALLY HAZARD ISSUE IS HAPPENING TO VEHICLES IN ILLINOIS ALSO BUT NO ONE IS BEING NOTIFIED OF THE DANGER. MY FAMILY WAS AT RISK. IF THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT OR SOMEONE THREW A CIGARETTE AT MY CAR AND THE VEHICLE COULD OF CAUGHT FIRE. I ALSO PARK MY CAR IN AN ATTACHED GARAGE WHICH ALSO BROUGHT RISK TO MY HOME. PLEASE CONSIDER ALSO ADDING ILLINOIS AND ANY OTHER STATES THAT MAY BE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY ISSUED THE PREVIOUS RECALL CAMPAIGN 09V419000 FOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 50000.
MY HUSBAND AND I WERE GOING TO THE MOVIES. ONCE WE ARRIVED, MY HUSBAND TRIED TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND IT WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. HE KEPT WORKING ON THE KEY AND THE KEY CAME OUT BUT THE CAR KEPT RUNNING. WE DROVE BACK HOME WITH OUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION TO SEE IF MY KEY WOULD SHUT IF OFF. IT DIDN'T SO WE WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD TO LEAVE IT THERE TO BE WORKED ON MONDAY. THIS IS THE FIRST AND ONLY TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. WE ARE ANTICIPATING THAT IT WILL BE UNDER OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WE WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY THE 400.00 DOLLARS. I HAVE FOUND MANY OTHER SATURNS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. THEREFORE, WAY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL? I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO GET THIS ISSUE ON A RECALL. *TR

THE CONTACT SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND WHEN RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE A NEW POWER STEERING MOTOR WAS INSTALLED. THE FAILURE DID NOT RECUR. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HER STEERING COLUMN MAY ALSO NEED TO BE REPLACED IN THE NEAR FUTURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000. I HAVE A 2007 SATURN ION CAR. I BOUGHT IT NEW. YESTERDAY 6/25/10 WHILE I WAS DRIVING I SAW A MESSAGE ON THE BASH BOARD. "TRAC OFF' WITHIN MINUTES ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD BEGAN TO FLASH, MESSAGES WERE SHOWING UP ON THE DASH BOARD. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALL MY MECHANIC. I DROVE THE CAR SLOWLY TO THE SHOP AND BARELY GOT THERE BEFORE ALL OF THE LIGHTS WENT DEAD AND THE CAR STOPPED WORKING. *TR

MY POWER STEERING IN MY SATURN ION WENT OUT WHEN I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 55 MPH. WHEN TRYING TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY, I HAD NO POWER STEERING AT ALL AND HIT A GUARD RAIL. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AFTER COLLECTING MYSELF. THE POWERE STEERING WORKED JUST FINE. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE SAME THING HAPPENED, WAS RUNNING FINE THEN, NO POWER STEERING AGAIN. THIS TIME IT NEVER CAME BACK. I HAVE SEEN MANY RECALLS FOR GM CARS THAT HAVE THE SAME POWER STEERING SYSTEM. WHY NOT FOR THE SATURN. IT IS JUST AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. 2007 SATURN ION ENGINE DISABLES WHILE DRIVING. DEALERSHIP UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM, NO CODES. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE BETTER PART OF A MONTH AND A HALF. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED EVERY TIME I HAVE PICKED IT UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP, THEN TOWED IN TO RE-DIAGNOSE. NO CODES AT THIS TIME. IT HAS BEEN SUGGESTED THAT THIS CAR IS UNSAFE FOR THE CONSUMER TO DRIVE, AS THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY AND SURFACE STREETS AS WELL. THERE ARE NO LIGHTS INDICATING THAT THE ENGINE FAILURE IS GOING TO HAPPEN. THE CAR LOOSES ALL POWER AND HAS TO BE TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION AND IN PARK TO RESTART. THIS HAS NOT BEEN A TRUE SAFETY ITEM YET, BUT IT HAS THE POTENTIAL OF BEING ONE, AND IF YOU LOOK ON-LINE UNDER "KEY STUCK IN IGNITION" YOU WILL BE AMAZED HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. THE CAR COMPANIES APPARENTLY KNOW ABOUT IT BECAUSE THE HAVE INSTALLED A SMALL COVER UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN TO REMOVE AND PUSH A BUTTON TO RELEASE THE KEY SO IT CAN BE TURNED AND REMOVED. MANY PEOPLE LIKE US HAVE PAID OVER $500 AND STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. LOOKS LIKE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL TO FIX THIS. SOME FOLK COULDN'T EVEN SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE A 2007 SATURN ION WHICH SOUNDS LIKE IT IS GOING TO BREAK IN HALF OVER EVEN THE SLIGHTEST SMALL BUMPS IN THE ROAD. I HAVE A WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE WHICH EXPIRED IN JUNE 2010. ALTHOUGH THE CAR ONLY HAS 29000 MILES ON IT~ SATURN WOULD NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY WHEN I BROUGHT MY CAR IN FOR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT~ IT WAS THE PURGE SENSOR. THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME OVER $300 TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE. I WENT ONLINE AND SAW MANY OTHER'S HAD REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM. I ALSO SAW THE PART FOR ONLY $26.00 ~HOWEVER AT THE SATURN DEALERSHIP THEY CHARGED ME $51.00 FOR THE PART. I ENDED UP FIXING THE REPAIR MYSELF TO AVOID BEING ROBBED BY THE SATURN DEALERSHIP!! I AM VERY DISPLEASED WITH MY CAR~ NOW THE STRUTS AND CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS ARE MAKING SIGNIFICANT RUMBLE WHEN DRIVING OVER THE SLIGHTEST BUMPS IN THE ROAD.
