THE VEHICLE SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE AFTER BEING DRIVEN AND SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE WHEN STATIONARY. THE POWER STEERING WILL DISPLAY A WARMING MESSAGE AND THE CAR WILL BECOME HARD TO STEER.
FUEL LEAKING FROM TOP OF FUEL TANK, COMING FROM BROKEN PORT ON THE FUEL PUMP. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE AS DOCUMENTED IN GM RECALL 09226C, BUT BECAUSE THIS VEHICLE ISN'T IN ANY OF THE STATES LISTED I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT OUT OF POCKET. HOW CAN A RECALL ONLY COVER VEHICLES IN CERTAIN STATES.
KEY GE5S STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND WON'T COME OUT. IN ADDITION, KEY CAN COME OUT AND THE VEHICLEB WILL STILL BE RUNNING IN THE RUNNING POSITION
THROTTLE BODY POSITION SENSOR AGAIN AND AGAIN CAUSES MAJOR LOSS OF POWER AND SOMETIMES RESULTS IN STALLING OUT IN SECONDS
GASOLINE IS LEAKING FROM SOMEWHERE ON TOP OF FUEL TANK
ON NOVEMBER 2, 2018, AND AFTER A TWO DAY TRAIN RIDE FROM WASHINGTON, I ARRIVED AT SMITH MOTORS TO INSPECT AND TEST DRIVE A 2007 SATURN ION 3 SEDAN THAT I HAD LOCATED ON CARGURUS.COM. I WAS UNABLE TO LOCATED A CERTIFIED AUTOMOBILE INSPECTOR IN THAT AREA, AND INSPECTING THE VEHICLE IN THE RAIN MADE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE EXTERIOR DAMAGE, AND TEST DRIVING WITH THE DEFOGGER BLASTING CONCEALED THE DEFECT ABOUT WHICH I AM MAKING THIS COMPLAINT. I SPECIFICALLY ASKED THE SALESMAN, CRAIG MANSKE, WHAT IS THE MEANING OF "CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED," AND HE ASSURED ME THAT THE SATURN HAD UNDERGONE A RIGOROUS INSPECTION AND SERVICING OF EQUAL QUALITY. HE LEFT ME IN THE AGGRESSIVE HANDS OF THE CLOSER, SMITH MOTORS'S BUSINESS MANAGER, ROSS KENT. MR. KENT INSISTED THAT I SIGN A FORM ACKNOWLEDGING THAT MY MODIFYING THE VEHICLE OR USING NON-GM PARTS MIGHT VOID THE WARRANTY. I REMINDED HIM THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TWELVE YEARS OLD, HAD SIXTY-NINE THOUSAND MILES ON IT AND WAS UNDENIABLY OUT-OF-WARRANTY. HE MADE MY SIGNATURE A DEAL-BREAKER, SO I GAVE IN BECAUSE OF THE TIME AND EFFORT I HAD EXPENDED IN GETTING MYSELF TO THE DEALERSHIP IN THE FIRST PLACE TO BUY THIS VEHICLE. I DROVE THE CAR BACK TO WASHINGTON, BUT THE STIFF AND SQUEAKY PEDALS ANNOYED ME ENOUGH THAT I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST CHEVY, BUICK & GMC DEALERSHIP IN WARRENTON, OR. THAT TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO SILENCE THE SQUEAKY PEDALS WITH THE LITHIUM SPRAY DESIGNED FOR THE TASK. I ENDED UP PAYING $55 IN A SUBSEQUENT ATTEMPT BY ANOTHER TECHNICIAN TO UNSTIFFEN AND SILENCE THE PEDALS, BUT IT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE COST TO INSTALL A NEW CLUTCH PEDAL IS PROHIBITIVELY EXPENSIVE, THERE IS NO NEW BRAKE PEDAL AVAILABLE, AND THE MECHANIC DID NOT RECOMMEND USING A SALVAGE PEDAL. MY REQUEST FOR REIMBURSEMENT FROM SMITH MOTORS, INC. WAS DENIED BY CONTROLLER, CARLA SHEELEY, WHO INSISTED IT WAS SOLD "AS IS."
I WAS ON MY WAY HOME JUST GETTING OFF HIGHWAY WITH SPEED LIMIT OF 65 MPH, WHEN I PARKED AT LOCAL GROCERY STORE NEAR MY HOME. PARKED IN STALL FINE BUT ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER I FOUND UPON ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE OUT OF THE STALL, I COULD HARDLY TURN MY CAR TO MAKE IT OUT OF THE PARKING LOT. I WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY DRIVE IT HOME HOPING IT WOULD CORRECT ITSELF THEN NOTICING POWERED STEERING LIGHT ON DASH. ON ARRIVAL TO MY HOME I PARKED BACKWARDS IN FEAR OF GETTING STUCK. I THEN TRIED NUMEROUS TIMES TO TURN ON AND OFF THE CAR WITH NO CHANGE IN STEERING OR DASHBOARD LIGHT. FORTUNATELY THIS HAPPENED LITERALLY A MILE OFF THE HIGHWAY WHICH I COULD HAVE EASILY GOTTEN INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH MUCH HIGHER SPEEDS AND NO CONTROL TO DRIVE THE AUTOMOBILE.
POWER STEERING FAILED THIS MORNING. NO WARNING AND NO PREVIOUS ISSUES. IT WORKED ONE MOMENT THEN DIDN'T THE NEXT. PWR STR CAME ON THE DASH ALERTS. I SAW A 2014 RECALL YET MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED.
I OWN A 2007 SATURN ION, I RECENTLY STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE STEERING, THE STEERING WHEEL IS VERY TIGHT AND WHEN I MAKE A TURN I NEED TO PHYSICALLY TURN THE WHEEL BACK IF I DON'T THE CAR WILL CONTINUE GOING IN THE DIRECTION I WAS TURNING. I AM NOW HAVING TROUBLE KEEPING IT ON THE ROAD AS IT WANTS TO PULL TO THE LEFT, IT IS IN ALINEMENT. I PURCHASED MY CAR IN 2013 FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER I DID RECEIVE THE RECALL NOTICE FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH BUT NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE 14V15300. WHEN I ENTER MY VIN# IT SHOWS THAT THERE NO RECALLS.I DRIVE 36 MILES A DAY FOR WORK, I HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT BUT IT'S GETTING TO THE POINT THAT I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE AND THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
I HIT MY BRAKES TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT MY CAR WENT TO LEFT IN FRONT OF ANOTHER CAR. I FOUND OUT THAT STRUTS SHIFTED AND CAUSING THE UPPER CONTROL ARM TO SNAP AND BRAKE OFF CAUSING MY CAR TO GO TO THE LEFT INTO ANOTHER CAR. *TR
EXTREMELY STRONG FUEL SMELL HAS BEGUN THIS WEEK AFTER DRIVING VEHICLE AND IS PARKED. SEE NO LEAKS OF GASOLINE AROUND VEHICLE. HAS LOW MILEAGE FOR AGE, UNDER 90,000 MILES. CERTAIN AREAS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS, BUT NOT FOR MY VIN# AT THIS TIME. HAS TO BE SAME PROBLEM. SOUNDS IDENTICAL. I WILL NEED TO HAVE MY 2007 SATURN ION INSPECTED.
THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOSE OF FUEL WHILE DRIVING. AFTER ACCESS SUSPECT FUEL PUMP PROBLEM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE LEAKED FUEL ONTO THE GROUND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL EXITED THE VEHICLE FROM THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE. IN ADDITION, A STRONG ODOR OF FUEL ENTERED THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED MOTOR CITY BUICK GMC (3101 PACHECO RD, BAKERSFIELD, CA 93313, (855) 393-2841) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH CASE NUMBER: 8-4378095323. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000.
AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON ALL THE TIME WHEN I'M DRIVING, OFF THEN COME BACK ON, HAPPENS ON STREETS AND HIGHWAYS, JUST COMES ON AND OFF ALL THE TIME
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 5 MPH, A VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE CONTACT AND PASSENGER REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR HEAD INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD AND DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS OF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
POWER STEERING GOES OUT INTERMITTENTLY
FRONT DRIVER'S SEATBELT IS DIFFICULT TO SNAP IN. POWER STEERING WORKS INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AND BRAKING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT SMELLED A FUEL ODOR AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED FUEL LEAKING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,407.
POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND LOST STEERING FOUND OUT THEY HAD RECALL NEVER WAS INFORMED OF THE MATTER OR RECALL. HAD A PROBLEM WITH GAS LINE ABOUT A YEAR AGO TOOK TO DEALERSHIP CAUSE THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT WAS TOLD MINE WASN'T COVERED EVEN THOUGH IT SHOULD OF BEEN COST ME 900 DOLLARS. ONLY RECALL I RECEIVED WAS FOR IGNITION.
MY COMPLAINT NUMBER IS 11061303 I COMPLAIN ABOUT POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND I DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE. I GUESS WHEN THEY DID THE IGNITION RECALL AND I BROUGHT IT IN THEY SUPPOSEDLY DID THE POWER STEERING TOO ON DEC 12 2014 . EVEN IF THEY DID THIS THE POWER STEERING SHOULD NOT GO BAD IN 3 YEARS. MY CAR IS GARAGE KEPT.

THE CONTACT ENGAGED THE CLUTCH TO START THE VEHICLE AND ALL OF THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 92,000.
PREVIOUS RECALL WAS FOR IGNITION, I'M STILL HAVING PROBLEMS SINCE IT WAS SUPPOSING FIXED. THE IGNITION WILL NOT RELEASE MY KEY, THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW. I HAVE TO SIT AND WAIT FOR SEVERAL CLICKS B4 I CAN TAKE MY KEY OUT. NOW IT WILL HOLD MY KEY AND NOT RELEASE AS IT WILL LOCK THE DOORS AND WON'T ALLOW ME TO PUT THE CAR IN GEAR. SO I'M LITERALLY TRAPPED INSIDE. I HAVE TO WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES B4 THE IGNITION WILL RELEASE THE KEY AS WELL AS ALLOW ME TO UNLOCK THE DOOR TO GET OUT. FOR NOW THIS IS ONLY OCCURRING WHEN I AM SITTING STILL. I'M AFRAID THIS WILL HAPPEN WHEN I AM DRIVING.
IGNITION. WAS ONCE RECALLED AND FIXED WITH NEW IGNITION. IS STARTING TO DO THE SAME THING.IT DOES NOT TURN OFF THE CAR BECAUSE THE KEY LOCKS IN PLACE.AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS IT FINALLY TURNS, BUT HOW LONG WILL THIS LAST.JUST LIKE LAST TIME.NEEDED NEW IGNITION SWITCH.
OVER THE LAST THREE TO FOUR YEARS MY POWER STEERING HAS WENT OUT MY FRONT PASSENGER TIRE HAS ALMOST FALLEN OFF TWICE I HAD TO HAVE IT FIXED MY CAR DON'T WANT TO START AFTER I FILL IT UP IT'S SPUTTERS EVERY TIME AND I'VE HAD LITERALLY HAD TO GET CUT OUT OF MY SEATBELT BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT UNLATCH AND MIKEY DON'T WANT TO COME OUT OF THE IGNITION HAVE THE TIME. THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING THE TIRE ALMOST FELL OFF WHILE DRIVING AND OF COURSE I'M STOPPED WHEN I'M FUELING AND I WAS STOPPED WHEN I WAS STUCK IN MY SEATBELT AND STOPPED EVERY TIME I TRY TO TAKE MY KEY OUT
VERY STRONG ODOR OF GAS AFTER CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING. HAVE READ THERE ARE RECALLS ON THIS CAR BUT THE VIN DOES NOT SAY IT HAS ONE.
HAVE BEEN HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH MY 2007 SATURN ION FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THE RADIO WILL TURN ON AND OFF BY ITSELF AND IT'S DISPLAY PANEL FLASHES ALL KINDS OF PATTERNS, CAN'T USUALLY TELL IF IT'S ON OR OFF, SINCE THE FLASHING OCCURS EITHER WAY. THE WINDOWS WILL QUIT WORKING BUT AFTER TURNING MY CAR OFF AND ON REPEATEDLY, THEY WILL WORK AGAIN. TODAY THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND I COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL. AFTER PULLING BACK INTO THE SPOT AND TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON, THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY AND I DROVE HOME. I TOLD MY DAD WHAT IT DID AND HE SAID MY SISTER HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HER SATURN VUE AND SHE HAD TO HAVE HER BODY MODULE (?) REPLACED. HE SAID HERS GOT TO THE POINT THAT THE LIGHTS WOULD TURN OFF AND ON AND SOMETIMES SHE WASN'T ABLE TO START HER CAR. THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY SATURN ION'S STEERING COLUMN AND THEY REPLACED IT AND HAD TO PUT IN A NEW IGNITION ALONG WITH NEW KEYS. I KNOW MY CAR IS OLDER, BUT SINCE MY SISTER'S SATURN VUE HAD THE SAME ODD ELECTRICAL TAKE OVERS, IT MAY BE TOO COMMON OF A PROBLEM. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND HAVE A GOOD DAY. 😊
2007 SATURN ION. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO GAS LEAK AT FUEL TANK. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A STRONG ODOR OF GAS ON THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. THE CONSUMER WAS ADVISED NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS IT COULD EXPLODE OR CATCH FIRE. DUE TO THE VEHICLE HAVING RECONSTRUCTED TITLE, THE WARRANTY WAS VOIDED. UPDATED 11/07/2017*JS
I STARDED SMELLING GAS REAL STRONG WHEN I GOT OUT OF MY CAR SO I CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WERE A RECALL ON IT I FOUND ONE ON CARTRUCKINFO.COM SO I CALLED MCCLINTON DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM WHAT I FOUND THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T HAVE A RECALL ON IT BUT THEY HAD SOMETHING ELSE THAT WOULD COVER IT SO I TAKE IT IN AFTER A WHILE THEY CALL ME TELL ME IT'S NOT COVERED BECAUSE IN HAS A SALVAGE TITLE AND WOULD COAST ME 2,OOO AND SOMETHING DOLLAR'S I LIVE ON $735.00 A MONTH THAT IS THE ONLY TRANSPORTATION I HAVE
WE NOTICE A FUEL ODOR WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN OR AFTER IT IS PARKED. A CRACK HAS BECOME LARGE ENOUGH FOR FUEL TO BE OBSERVED DRIPPING ONTO THE GROUND AND VEHICLE PERFORMANCE HAS BEEN AFFECTED. (#09275C)

HAD TO HAVE FUEL PUMP MODULE REPLACED FOR EXACT PROBLEM AS DESCRIBED IN RECALLS OF SAME MODEL YEAR ION'S BUT NOT FOR THIS VIN. HAVE RETAINED PHOTOS AND FAILED PUMP MODULE ASSEMBLY. FUEL ODOR FROM RT RR OF VEHICLE FIRST NOTED, THEN WITHIN DAYS STARTED DRIPPING FUEL FROM JUST IN FRONT OF RT RR WHEEL WELL - FOUND TO BE CRACKED PUMP MODULE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN IGNITION RECALL. AS A PART OF THE REPAIR, A NEW IGNITION KEY WAS PROVIDED. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE CONTACT WAS STILL ABLE TO USE THE OLD IGNITION KEY, BUT CONTINUED TO USE THE REPLACEMENT KEY INSTEAD. THE VEHICLE BEGAN EXPERIENCING A FAILURE WITH THE NEW IGNITION KEY AS IT WOULD NOT EJECT FROM THE IGNITION WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE'S BATTERY TO DIE AND THE VEHICLE TO BECOME INOPERABLE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 384,027.
SINCE HAVING THE RECALLS FOR THE IGNITION DONE - WHEN THE CAR IS PLACED IN PARK I HAVE TO PULL THE SHIFTER TOWARD REVERSE TO GET THE KEY OUT. ALSO SINCE THE RECALLS WERE DONE ALL THE SUDDEN MY STEERING RACK IS MAKING A CLUNKING NOISE WHICH MY MECHANIC IS SAYING WILL SOON NEED REPLACED. IT WAS PERFECTLY FINE BEFORE THE RECALLS FOR THE IGNITION AND SUCH WERE DONE ON MY CAR. LITERALLY THE DAYS AFTER IS WHEN IT STARTED AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT IS BECAUSE MY CAR IS OLD. NOT BUYING THAT ANSWER. ALL OF THIS HAS TO BE TIED TO A RECALL, I TAKE GREAT CARE OF MY CAR. I JUST HAD THE CONTROL ARMS REPLACED AS WELL AND THE MECHANIC SAID THEY WERE NEAR DISINTEGRATED!
TEMP GAGE STOPPED WORKING ALONG WITH AIR CONDITION COOLING, REPLACED SENDING UNIT TO WORKING VEHICLE AND UNIT WORKS, EARLY ON THE TROUBLE SHOOTING WORKED ONCE IN A WHILE, IF REMOVED FROM UNIT AND PLACED BACKED, NOW DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. THANKS
KEY STUCK IN IGNITION WHEN PARK . THE ONLY WAY TO REPLACE IT BY REPLACE BUTTON UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL.

THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,368.
SAME ISSUE AS YOUR RECALL FROM 2012, THE FUEL MODULE CRACKED AND LEAKED GASOLINE. NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V459000 WAS YOUR PREVIOUS INFORMATION AND MY CAR, ALTHOUGH NOT INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL, JUST HAD THE SAME DANGEROUS ISSUE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED FUEL LEAKING OUT OF THE VEHICLE ONTO THE GROUND. ON SEVERAL OTHER OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT NOTICED A STRONG FUEL ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DICK GENTHE CHEVROLET (15600 EUREKA RD, SOUTHGATE, MI 48195) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 174,000.

MY CAR HAD THE POWER STEERING MOTOR REPLACED UNDER A SAFETY RECALL IN 2012. NOW THE SAME PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED AGAIN, AND THE POWER STEERING MOTOR HAS GONE OUT. I MISSED THE SPECIAL EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS BY 2 DAYS - IT EXPIRED ON 3/27/17, AND IT WENT OUT AGAIN ON MY CAR ON 3/29/17. NOW I'M TOLD IT CANNOT BE REPAIRED AGAIN UNDER THE SAFETY RECALL. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IF A PART IS COVERED UNDER A SAFETY RECALL BECAUSE IT CAN FAIL, IS REPLACED, THEN FAILS AGAIN, THERE IS STILL A PROBLEM WITH THAT PART BEING USED IN THE CAR. IT SHOULD STILL BE ABLE TO BE REPLACED AT NO CHARGE TO THE OWNERS. I KNOW THAT FOR 2003 SATURN ION THE RECALL APPIES TO THE LIFE OF THE CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE), BUT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 114,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE DID NOT MOVE AND THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER DID NOT WORK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE FAILURE WAS AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE THAT NEEDED TO BE REMEDIED. THE TECHNICIAN REFERRED THE CONTACT TO A DEALER TO DIAGNOSE THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE FAILURES WERE NOT REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 185,000.
STEERING RANDOMLY FAILS IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN, AS IF IT "STICKS" AND I HAVE TO FORCE THE STEERING WHEEL BACK TO CENTER. I'M CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF THE DRIVER HAD TO MAKE AN EVASIVE MENOUVER OR IS INEXPERIENCED AND NOT EXPECTING IT TO FAIL. THIS OCCURS WHILE MOVING, AND WHILE PARKED, ON ANY STREET OR HIGHWAY.
THE POWER STEERING ALL OF THE SUDDEN GOES OUT AND IT MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO TURN. I ALMOST GOT AN ACCIDENT TODAY WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH ON THE FREEWAY, BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING JUST STOPPED WORKING. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE OFTEN, AND IT OCCURS AT SPEED GREATER THAN 35 MPH. I SEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT GM CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NO ACTIVE RECALL.
STRONG GAS SMELL NOTICED OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE AS IT WAS PARKED. TWO DAYS LATER HAD THE OIL CHANGED AT A LOCAL SHOP AND THEY POINTED OUT THERE WAS GAS LEAKING BY THE EXHAUST PIPE AREA AT A CONNECTION. TOOK TO DRAPER CHEVROLET WHO LOCALLY HANDLES SATURN RECALLS AND WAS TOLD THE GAS LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND NOT COVERED BY SPECIAL CASE SCENARIO. THE REPAIR WAS QUOTED AT $568. REPAIR HAS NOT BEEN MADE. LEAKING FUEL IS AN IMMEDIATE HAZARD IF IN THE PRESENCE OF AN OPEN FLAME OR POSSIBLE ACCIDENTS. IT APPEARS THERE ARE A HUGE NUMBER OF CASES WHERE THE FUEL LINE HAS LEAKED ON THIS MODEL. IT SHOULD BE COVERED.
SATURN ION 2007 RECALL THE OTHER DAY I GOT AN ALERT ON THE DISPLAY OF MY CAR THAT STATED "PWR STRG" I WAS ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE KILLED MY 3 YOUNG CHILDREN AND MYSELF. WE WERE TERRIFIED. I WAS ABLE TO GET ON THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY BY FORCING THE STIRRING WHEEL TO TURN. I THEN LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD TO SEE IF I HAD A LEAK OF POWER STIRRING FLUID BUT TO MY SURPRISE DID NOT FIND ANYWHERE THAT WOULD INDICATE SUCH A THING. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON TO SEE WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM THE MSG WAS GONE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME BUT BEFORE I GOT HOME THE MSG CAME BACK ON AND I HAD TO REPEAT IT ALMOST GETTING INTO A SECOND CAR ACCIDENT. I IMMEDIATELY DID RESEARCH ON WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM ONCE I GOT SAFELY HOME AND FOUND OUT THAT GM HAD RECALLED THE "POWER STEERING ELECTRIC MOTOR ASSIST" DUE TO OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN I CALLED GM TO GET ASSISTANCE THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE CHARGES DUE TO THE PREVIOUS OWNER GETTING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SAME PART BACK IN 2014. I DISAGREE WITH THE DECISION THAT I SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING AND PAYING FOR THE PART THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR THE EXACT SAME REASON. POWER STEERING GOING OUT FOR NO REASON AT ALL AND THEN RETURNING ONCE I START THE CAR BACK UP. I BELIEVE THEY PLACED ANOTHER DEFECTIVE STEERING MOTOR IN THE CAR AND MY FAMILIES SAFELY SHOULD NOT BE COMPROMISED FOR THIS OVER SIGHT. I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPLACE IT AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SINCE IT IS NOT SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAT IS WRONG BUT THE SAME EXACT THING. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MY RIGHTS ON THIS ISSUE AND IF THEY ARE STILL LIABLE FOR REPLACING THIS PART OR AM I. *TR
I HAVE A SATURN ION AND I AM HAVING AN ISSUE DESCRIBED IN A RECALL. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO A GM DEALER AND CALLED THE GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO HONOR THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE LOSSES POWER STEERING PERIODICALLY AND IT IS VERY SCARY TO DRIVE.
