TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. WHILE REVERSING OUT OF THE GARAGE, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,046.
IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. I HAVE TO TURN THE WHEEL ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT, THEN 1 TURN TO THE LEFT. I HAVE ALREADY HAD RECALL 14063 AND 14113 PERFORMED ON MY CAR. I TOLD THE MECHANIC ABOUT IT, AND IT WORKED CORRECTLY FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS THEN WENT BACK TO NOT LETTING ME GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION UNLESS THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED A CERTAIN WAY. THIS HAPPENS WHEN I AM TRY TO LEAVE AFTER I PARK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A GM DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT ANOTHER DEALER DISCONNECTED THE FUSES DURING A PREVIOUS RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT HEARD A CHIMING NOISE. THE KEY BECAME JAMMED IN THE IGNITION SWITCH CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO NOT COMPLETELY TURN OFF. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
WHILE DRIVING STARTED TO SMELL A VERY RANK GAS SMELL RUSHED TO MY MOTHERS HOUSE TO SEE GAS LEAKING ALL ON THE SIDE OF THE CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, A FUEL ODOR EMITTED IN AND AROUND THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000.
I STARTED THE CAR AND HEARD THE CHIMES AND SAW A MESSAGE APPEAR WHERE THE ODOMETER MILE APPEARS - POWER STEERING. I WAS PARKED IN BETWEEN TWO CARS AND I HAD NO POWER STEERING. IT SEEMED TO GO OUT. THE CAR WAS VERY HARD TO MANEUVER TO BACKUP IN BETWEEN THE TWO CARS AND INTO THE SHOULDER LANE. I WAS CLOSE TO HITTING ONE OF THE PARK CARS. ONCE IN THE SHOULDER LANE I TURN CAR OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR. THE CAR WENT BACK TO POWER STEERING. I HAD TAKEN THE CAR FOR THE RECALL BACK IN OCTOBER AND THE PROBLEM WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIX WHEN I COMPLAINED THAT ABOVE THE 60 MPH I WAS LOOSING CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I CALLED SATURN CUSTOMER SERVICE TODAY AND AT FIRST GAVE ME A NO SAYING THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN FIXED. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT THEY WERE DECEIVING THE CUSTOMERS BY PUTTING A QUICK FIX ON THE ISSUE AND NOT COMPLETELY RESOLVING THE ISSUE. ANALOGY OF A BANDAID ON A DEEP WOUND. UNFORTUNATELY, I NEED MY CAR AND NEED TO DRIVE IT BUT I AM SCARED FOR MY FAMILY SAFETY. I AM TAKING IT BACK TOMORROW TO THE DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE AGAIN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BY A DEALER (HORNE MOTORS OF SHOW LOW, 1-888-522-8962, 1700 S WHITE MOUNTAIN RD, SHOW LOW, AZ 85901) FOR A MANUFACTURER RECALL CONCERNING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE RECALL REMEDY CAUSED A FAILURE AND NO SOLUTION PERTAINING TO THE IGNITION SWITCH, WHICH ALSO AFFECTED THE STEERING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP, STEERING COLUMN, AND IGNITION. THE DEALER ALSO PROVIDED TWO KEYS THAT WERE TO BE REPROGRAMMED; HOWEVER, THEY FAILED TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DOORS. THE CONTACT HAD TO USE THE KEY FOB. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN AND THE VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THREE LOCKSMITHS. ONE OF THE LOCKSMITHS STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS LOOSELY CONNECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO SERVICED BY (MOLLE CHEVROLET, (816) 229-8800) WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WARRANTY AND RECALL TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
PER PAST RECALL, MY IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED. PREVIOUSLY, IGNITION KEYS WERE BEING CHEWED UP, AND THAT IS AGAIN THE CASE. KEY LOCKS IN PLACE & WILL NOT TURN (OVER) FOR SEVERAL TRIES.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. IN ADDITION, THE COOLANT WARNING LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT SEIZED RESULTING IN LOSS OF ELECTRONIC ASSISTED STEERING AND FAILURE OF STEERING WHEEL TO RETURN TO CENTER. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT HAS WAS RECALLED IN THE CHEVROLET COBALT AND PONTIAC G5 OF THE SAME MODEL YEARS WHICH USE IDENTICAL PARTS, BUT THE SATURN ION WAS INEXPLICABLY EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING FUSE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING) HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 134,760.
POWER STEERING GOES IN AND OUT VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE OR CONTROL IGNITION SWITCH REPAIRED THIS IS JUST AS DANGEROUS MODELS PONTIAC G AND CHEVY COBALTS HAVE SAME POWER STEERING MODULE AND WERE RECALLED NOT SATURN MODELS.
STRONG GAS ODOR. SOMETIMES GAS ON THE GROUND UNDER THE CAR. TOOK IT TO DRAPER CHEVROLET AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND THE GAS TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FILLER NECK ON THE FUEL TANK WAS CRACKED. CHARGED ME $855.80 FOR THE REPAIR. *TR
AT FIRST I HAD STARTING PROBLEMS. I LOOKED INTO THE IGNITION,SPARK PLUGS,COILS,PLUG WIRES. A G.M. DEALER SAID I HAD A CODE THAT SAID #3 CYLINDER MISFIRE. #3 CYL. SPARK PLUG WAS THE ONLY PLUG THAT WAS NOT RUNNING TO LEAN. AT THAT POINT MY TRANSMISSION STARTED SHIFTING ROUGH. WITH IN ABOUT 1.5 MONTHS THE ENGINE STARTED HARD STARTING. I DECIDED TO CHANGE THE FUEL FILTER, BOUGHT ONE FROM AUTO ZONE, CRAWLED UNDER CAR AND COULD NOT FIND A FUEL FILTER. MY G.M. DEALER DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. SO I EXPLAINED IT AGAIN. THEY CAME BACK WITH "IT MUST BE IN THE FUEL TANK. I HAVE CHANGED HUNDREDS OF FUEL FILTERS IN MY 50 YEARS OF BEING A MECHANIC. EVERY AUTOMOBILE I HAVE CHANGED THE IN TANK FUEL PUMP HAS HAD A SCREEN TO CATCH THE LARGE PIECES THAT MAY GET IN YOUR TANK, BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN A FUEL FILTER IN TANK. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.
I STARTED MY CAR UP AND IT SOUNDED EXTREMELY ROUGH AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO A SERVICE CENTER TO GET OIL CHANGED, COOLANT CHANGED, FUEL SYSTEM CLEANED AND TO GET AN OVERALL CHECK DONE. THEY WERE UNSURE OF THE ISSUE AND I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS DONE AND IT READ THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE TIMING CHAIN. AFTER READING ON HERE AND ONLINE I SEE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. *TR

I PARKED THE CAR IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE, LEAVING THE HEADLIGHTS ON. WHEN I WENT TO PUT IT IN THE GARAGE, I TURNED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH, AND HEARD NO SOUND. I REALIZED I HAD LEFT THE HEADLIGHTS ON AND THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. THEN THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN IN THE LOCK SO I COULD REMOVE IT. I COULD NOT OPEN THE TRUNK WITH THE BUTTON ON THE DASH, IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. THE CAR IS NOW USELESS TO ME. I WILL GET A BATTERY CHARGER TO CHARGE THE BATTERY FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, BUT SOME REPORTS ONLINE REPORT THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH MUST ALSO BE REPAIRED. THIS IGNITION SWITCH AREA WAS JUST REPAIRED IN A RECALL. *TR
THE CAR FAILING TO START ON THE FIRST IGNITION CYCLE AND A SMELL OF FUEL WHILE DRIVING AND AFTER THE CAR AS TURNED OFF WAS NOTICED. A WEEK LATER FUEL IS NOW CONSIDERABLY LEAKING FROM NEAR THE REAR OF THE CAR. A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR A FUEL PUMP PROBLEM ON THE 2007 ION, BUT ONLY IN CERTAIN STATES, ILLINOIS NOT INCLUDED. OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND YET ANOTHER DEFECTIVE PART/SYSTEM FROM SATURN/GM. AS GM DEALERSHIPS ARE BOOKED REPAIRING THE FAULTY IGNITION SWITCHES, I HAVE TO WAIT OVER A WEEK FOR THE REPAIR TO GET LOOKED AT. THE CHOICE IS NOW RISKING FIRE/EXPLOSION ON THE CAR AS THE LEAK IS VERY NEAR THE HOT EXHAUST PIPE OR NOT GOING TO WORK FOR A WEEK. *JS
WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AT APPROX. 25 MILES AN HOUR THE STEERING WHEEL DISENGAGED FROM THE STEERING MECHANISM. THIS WAS VERY FRIGHTENING FOR MY DAUGHTER. THE VEHICLE WAS PUSHED INTO A PARKING LOT. WE SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURE AND WE WERE TOLD TO THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE ANY RECALLS THAT WERE OUTSTANDING. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP TO BE EVALUATED. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE STEERING COUPLING WAS BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS WE HAD DONE. WE WERE VERY FORTUNATE THAT THIS DID NOT OCCUR WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THE COMPLETE DISCONNECTION OF THE STEERING FROM THE REST OF THE VEHICLE IS SOMETHING GRAVELY SERIOUS. THIS SOMETHING THAT THE NHTSA SHOULD LOOK INTO. *JS

THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD MANUAL STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 176,000.
I HAD A FUEL LEAK FROM MY SATURN AND BROUGHT IT TO BOB JOHNSON CHEVROLET TO GET REPAIRED. THEY FOUND THAT THE FUEL LINE WAS RUSTED AT THE DRIVER SIDE BACK BY THE TIRE AND WANTS TO CHARGE ME 750.00. NOW, I HAVE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. THERE SEEMS TO BE MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE AT THE SAME AREA AS ME. CHEVY OR MY WARRANTY COMPANY WILL NOT COVER IT. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING WITH THE SATURN IONS THAT IS MAKING THEM RUST. THE VEHICLE IS TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE D/T THE LEAK IS OVER BY THE TAIL PIPE POSSIBLE TO CAUSE A FIRE AND EXPLOSION. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL TO CAUSE GM TO REDESIGN THE FUEL LINE TO KEEP IT FROM RUSTING AND LEAKING THAT COULD CAUSE A FIRE. *TR

THIS CAR JUST HAD IGNITION RECALL REPAIRED. BUT WHEN YOU SHUT THE CAR OFF, SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T LET YOU REMOVE THE KEYS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION WHICH LOCATED FUEL LEAK OVER THE FUEL TANK DUE TO DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
ON12/14/2014 I PUT GAS IN MY CAR AND THE GAS CAP DID NOT SCREW ON LIKE IT USUALLY DID AND DID NOT CLICK LIKE IT ALWAYS DID. I GOT IN MY CAR AND STARTED THE ENGINE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN I GOT HOME I LOOKED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. I CALLED RANCHO MOTORS AND WAS TOLD I SHOULD TAKE THE CAR TO THEM. I TOOK MY CAR TO THEM ON 12/17/2014. I WAS GIVEN A RIDE HOME WHILE THEY CHECKED OUT MY CAR. ON 12/22/2014, I CALLED AND SPOKE WITH MIKE TARPLEY, THE ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER. HE SAID MY CAR HAD A STUCK VALVE, THE #2 CYLINDER NEEDED REPAIR AND THE THERMOSTAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS STUCK OPEN. ON 12/23/2014, I CALLED AGAIN AND WAS TOLD MY CAR WOULD NEED A VALVE JOB. I CALLED ON 12/29, 12/30 AND 12/31 AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE WORKING ON IT. ALL THIS TIME I WAS TOLD THE COST OF THIS REPAIR WAS $2,000 AND THEY WOULD GET ME A SENIOR DISCOUNT. I WAS FINALLY TOLD ON 1/5/2015, THAT MY CAR WAS READY AND THEY SENT SOMEONE TO COME GET ME AND TAKE ME TO RANCHO MOTORS. WHEN I GOT THERE I WAS TOLD THE COST WAS $2,500, AND WITH MY DISCOUNT IT WAS $2,355. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY MY SATURN WITH LOW MILEAGE NEEDED ALL OF THIS WORK. I HAD NOT HAD ANY PRIOR PROBLEMS THAT WOULD INDICATE THIS NEEDED TO BE DONE. WHY WAS IT NOT JUST THE GAS CAP? *TR
CAR WAS PARKED TRIED TO START WOULD NOT START WITH JUMP. HAD TOWED DETERMINED PROBLEM WITH STARTER. FIXED OVERNIGHT DROVE OFF LOT THEN LOST POWER STEERING SAME NIGHT JUST AVOIDED ACCIDENT. FOUND OUT RECALLS ON BOTH TOTAL OF 8 ON THIS VEHICLE. ONLY HAD SINCE 8/1/2014 NEVER ADVISED OF ANY RECALLS ON VEHICLE AND MCCAFFERTY FORD IN LANGHORNE,PA DID NOT OFFER TO ASSIST ADVISED ITS NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK RECALLS. CAR CAN BE DRIVEN 10-15MINS THEN STEERING LOCKS UP. HAVE TO WAIT FOR CAR TO COOL DOWN THEN STEERING COMES BACK, 10-15 MINS SAME PROBLEM. THERE IS ALSO RECALLS RELATED TO AIR BAGS. *TR
BECAUSE OF A 'HIDDEN RECALL' BY GM, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN I SMELLED FUEL. MY FUEL PUMP HAD BECOME DEFECTIVE, CAUSING A LEAK, AND THEREFORE, RUSTED FUEL LINES, WHICH THEN BROKE. THIS 'HIDDEN RECALL' WAS NOT COVERED AT THE DEALERSHIP AND I HAD TO GET GM INVOLVED ON A CORPORATE LEVEL, AND EVEN THEN, I STILL HAD TO PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKE! MY CAR WAS STEADILY DRIPPING FUEL, AND ASIDE FROM EMPTYING THE TANK THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO ABOUT THIS. IT IS DANGEROUS, AND GM KNOWS ABOUT IT BUT WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE DANGER IN THE SITUATION. I HAVE CHILDREN. WHAT IF THE CAR WOULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE? THEN WOULD THEY HAVE LISTENED?? IT IS ABSOLUTELY ABSURD THAT THEY WOULD NOT WARN OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES (EVEN THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED TO KNOW MANY OTHERS IN MY SITUATION EXACTLY) WHEN IT IS SOMETHING SO DANGEROUS, LET ALONE MAKE THEM PAY FOR THE REPAIR. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN MARCH 2014. ON 7/17/2014 THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED AT ASHEVILLE CHEVROLET IN ASHEVILLE NC. I HAD NOT HAD ANY ISSUES WITH THE IGNITION AT THAT TIME. ON 11/3/14 THE CAR STALLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I TOOK IT THE DEALERSHIP ON 11/5/14. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT THE CAR FOR 11/5 AND 11/6 AND REPLACED THE IGNITION COIL AND SPARK PLUGS AND STATED THAT IS NEEDED A MAP SENSOR REPAIRED. THEY VERBALLY INFORMED ME THAT THEY CHECKED THE IGNITION SWITCH AGAIN AND CHECKED THE FUEL PUMP FOR LEAKAGE (WHICH WAS ANOTHER RECALL). I DROVE THE CAR HOME ON 11/6/14 AND IT STALLED AGAIN WITHIN 20 MINUTES. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BACK ON 11/7/14 AND WAS INFORMED THAT TECHNICIAN THAT WORKED ON IT WAS NOT THERE AND THEY WOULD CALL ME BACK ON MONDAY (11/10). ON 11/10 I TALKED WITH THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TECHNICIAN THAT WORKED ON THE CAR WAS FIRED ON 11/7 AND I COULD BRING IT BACK IN FOR THEM TO CHECK IT. I TOOK THE CAR TO ANOTHER MECHANIC ON 11/10 WHO COULD NOT DO ANY WORK AS THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE "FLASHED" AS IT HAD NOT BEEN RESET WHEN WORK WAS DONE BY THE DEALER WHICH PREVENTED THEM FROM IDENTIFYING ANY ISSUES THAT MAY EXIST. I BROUGHT IT BACK IN ON 11/11 AND INFORMED THEM THAT THE CAR IS STILL STALLING WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE THAT I BROUGHT IT IN ON 11/5. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT CONFIRM THAT ANYTHING WAS EVER CHECKED REGARDING THE IGNITION SWITCH REPLACEMENT AND STATED THAT THE ALREADY REPLACED THE RECALLED IGNITION SWITCH. THEY FURTHER REFUSED TO RESET THE COMPUTER AND DENIED THE NEED FOR ANY FURTHER WORK. THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO STALL WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVING AND THE DEALER IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE THOUGH THEY REFUSE TO TAKE ANY ACTION. *TR

THIS CAR WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE RECENT GENERAL MOTORS IGNITION SWITCH RECALL IN JUNE OF 2014. WE ARE STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE IGNITION. THE KEY WILL PERIODICALLY GET STUCK IN THE IGNITION, (YOU CAN TURN THE KEY TO THE ACC POSITION, BUT IT WILL NOT GO TO THE OFF POSITION). IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION YOU MUST RESTART THE VEHICLE AND TURN IT OFF AGAIN, USUALLY AFTER THE 3RD OF 4TH TRY THE KEY WILL GO INTO THE OFF POSITION AND THE KEY CAN BE REMOVED. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THIS DOES NOT WORK. THERE IS AN IGNITION RELEASE BUTTON LOCATED BENEATH THE STEERING WHEEL, THE IGNITION WILL TURN TO THE OFF POSITION WHEN YOU STICK YOUR FINGER INTO THE HOLE AND PUSH THE BUTTON. HOWEVER, I HAVE RECEIVED A SLIGHT SHOCK WHEN PUSHING THIS BUTTON. WE ARE ALSO CONCERNED THE OTHER PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE IGNITION RECALL WILL ALSO STILL BE PRESENT. *TR

THE SATURN ION 2007 THAT I OWN IS BLEEDING GAS. FUEL LINES ARE RUSTED NEAR THE PLASTIC RETAIN CLIP. FUEL PUMP PLASTIC IS CRACKED, FUEL TANK HAS RUSTED IN A SMALL BUT SIGNIFICANT SPOT. 2007 SATURN ION PURCHASED IN ILLINOIS LATE OCTOBER 2013. MOVED TO NORTH CAROLINA 9/4/2014. AS OF OCTOBER 20, 2014 CAR SMELLED LIKE GASOLINE INSIDE AND OUT, AS SOON AS YOU WALKED UP TO THE CAR YOU COULD SMELL THE GASOLINE. THE GASOLINE SMELL WAS VERY STRONG ON THE INSIDE AS WELL AND WAS OVERWHELMING AND SICKENING. I LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AND SAW A WET SPOT ON THE PAVEMENT AND THEN SAW GAS LEAKING (DRIPPING) FROM WHAT I ASSUME IS THE GAS TANK. THIS IS A HUGE CONCERN SINCE THE RECALL ON THIS WASN'T A NATIONWIDE RECALL AND ONLY AFFECTED WARM WEATHER STATES. WE HAVE ONLY BEEN IN NORTH CAROLINA FOR A MONTH AND A HALF - MISSING THEIR WARMEST TIME OF YEAR. THEIR THEORY OF WARM WEATHER STATES IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND THEY HAVE PUT MY DAUGHTER'S LIFE IN DANGER!!! AFTER FILING TANK, I NOTICED A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL IN THE VEHICLE THEN UPON DRIVING THE CAR ABOUT 25 MILES,I STOPPED TO CHECK UNDER VEHICLE TO SEE IF I COULD FIND A PROBLEM RELATED TO THE FUEL SMELL. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS BEING OVERLOOKED AND COVERED UP WITH A NONSENSE RECALL OF AN UNASSOCIATED ASPECT OF THE FUEL SYSTEM. IN SEPTEMBER 2014, THE POWER STEERING ON MY 2007 SATURN ION WENT OUT. I HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP AND HAD THE POWER STEERING MOTOR REPLACED UNDER A RECALL. THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN A FEW DAYS LATER BUT CAME ON AGAIN AFTER A DAY. I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN IN JUNE 2015 AND HAPPENED TWICE IN FOUR DAYS. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT DID THE ORIGINAL POWER STEERING MOTOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD THAT THE POWER STEERING COLUMN HAD FAILED AND THAT THE COLUMN WAS NOT AFFECTED BY THE MASSIVE 2014 RECALL. THE REPAIR IS GOING TO COST $950. I AM SKEPTICAL, PARTICULARLY AFTER READING SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, THAT THIS IS NOT A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM AND IT COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IF THE POWER STEERING FAILS WHILE DRIVING.

A WEEK LATER, I RECEIVED A VOICEMAIL FROM SOMEONE ELSE AT THE DEALERSHIP STATING MY CAR WAS READY. I CALLED [XXX] AND HE STATED "YOU HAVE A BILL FOR $200 FOR THE BATTERY REPLACEMENT, AND I BELIEVE THE CAR HAS A NEW PUMP FOR THE POWER STEERING RECALL." I CALLED SATURN CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER TO ADDRESS MY CONCERNS ABOUT BOTH THE CHARGE FOR THE BATTERY, AND THE FACT THAT WHEN I RUN A VIN SEARCH ON MY CAR, THE POWER STEERING RECALL SHOWS UP AS "INCOMPLETE." SHE DID NOT HAVE AN ANSWER. SHE SAID THE RECALL VIN SEARCH HAS A "LAG TIME," AND HAD NO REASON FORNOTMENTIONING THISBEFORE. THERE IS A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE BOTH OUTSIDE AND INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A RESULT FROM SOME SORT OF FLAW IN THE PLASTIC SUPPLY OR RETURN PORT OF THE MODULAR RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY LOCATED NEAR THE FUEL TANK. GM HAS ISSUED A RECALL IN SEVERAL STATES UNDER GM RECALL NO. 090226 AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V419000. AS THIS COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A FIRE AND IS MASSIVE SAFETY CONCERN, THIS SHOULD BE BROADENED TO ALL STATES FOR THIS MODEL. *TR
WITHIN 2 MONTHS OF HAVING THE FIRST RECALL ON THE IGNITION SWITCH REPAIRED THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD WILL ILLUMINATE AT RANDOM TIMES. SOME TIMES IT WILL STAY ON AFTER STARTING THE CAR AND TURNING OFF AT SOME POINT INTO THE DRIVE, OR IT WILL ILLUMINATE WHILE DRIVING, STAY ILLUMINATED FOR A PERIOD OF TIME AND THEN SHUT OFF. HAD THE SECOND RECALL THAT STILL IMPACTED THE KEY BEING ABLE TO BE REMOVED WHICH REQUIRED THE GEAR SHIFT TO BE REPLACED LESS THAN A YEAR AFTER THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED. SINCE THE SECOND REPAIR THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES MORE FREQUENTLY. SEE MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE SINCE HAVE THE REPAIRS COMPLETED. THE AIR BAG LIGHT NEVER ILLUMINATE PRIOR TO RECALLS BEING REPAIRS.

THEY FINALLY CALLED ME AND SAID MY CAR HAD BEEN FIXED AND THAT I COULD COME AND GET IT. I DROVE MY CAR FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND THEN I STARTED HEAR A CLICKING NOISE IN MY IGNITION. SO I SAT THERE A FEW MINUTES AND I TRIED AGAIN AND IT STILL WOULD NOT COME OUT. SO I KEPT SWITCHING THE CAR OFF AND ON UNTIL I FINALLY GOT THE KEY OUT. SO THE NEXT WEEK I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SERVICERS AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT DIDN'T DO THAT WITH HIM.SO HE COULDN'T TELL ME WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. SO I TOOK THE CAR AND LEFT. IT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN . SO THE NEXT WEEK I TOOK IT RIGHT BACK AND THEY STILL DIDN'T DO ANYTHING. SO I CONTACTED THE GENERAL MOTORS HEADQUARTERS AND THEY SUPPOSED TO HAD GOT BACK WITH ME WITHIN 24-48 HRS. WELL I DIDN'T HEAR FROM THEM UNTIL ABOUT A WEEK LATER WHEN I HAD TO CALLED THEM BACK WHILE I WAS BACK AT THE CHEVROLET SERVICE CENTER. SO THEY FINALLY CALL ME BACK AND TALKED TO ME AND THE SERVICE MANAGER. SO I WAS TOLD TO BRING MY CAR BACK TUESDAY 9\17\14 AND I DID.
