TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY BECAME STUCK IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14E021000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS STILL EXHIBITING THE SAME FAILURE AS LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ISSUE HAD BEEN RESOLVED PER THE REPAIRS THAT WERE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

SHORTLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14E021000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: IGNITION SWITCH), THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE ILLUMINATION WAS NOT RELATED TO THE RECALL REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CRUISE CONTROL AUTO ACCELERATED AND THE SEAT BELT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT CAUSED IT, BUT I RECENTLY STARTED NOTICING A STRONG FUEL ODOR AROUND MY CAR WITHIN THE LAST MONTH. I CRAWLED UNDERNEATH THE CAR TO CHECK FOR LEAKS AND DETERMINED THAT THE FUEL TANK HAS CRACKED AT THE SEAM WHERE THE PLASTIC SPOUT WAS MATED/MOLDED TO THE MAIN PART OF THE PLASTIC FUEL TANK ON THE REAR SIDE OF THE TANK. FUEL CURRENTLY LEAKS FROM THE CRACK WHEN THE TANK IS APPROXIMATELY MORE THAN 3/4 FULL; ESPECIALLY WHEN ACCELERATING AND FUEL IS FORCED TO THE BACK OF THE TANK. THE ONLY REPLACEMENT PART (CURRENTLY PART NUMBER 20870462, WHICH REPLACED THE OLD PART NUMBER OF 25947829) IS AVAILABLE FROM A GM DEALERSHIP AND THE RETAIL PRICE IS $695. *TR
AFTER HAVING THE RECALL FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM COMPLETED, I BEGAN TO HAVE THE "SEATBELT WARNING" LIGHT STAY ON OR "ON AND OFF" INTERMITTENTLY. THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE AND WHILE DRIVING. AT THE SAME TIME THE DIGITAL DISPLAY ON THE RADIO BEGAN TO FLICKER AND BECOME UNREADABLE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND HAVE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. MY UNDERSTANDING IS GM HAS REFUSED TO ATTRIBUTE THE PROBLEM TO THE RECALL WORK OR NEW IGNITION SWITCH. I NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM UNTIL THE RECALL WORD WAS DONE. INVESTIGATION IS WARRANTED IN THIS CASE AS IT COULD BE LIFE THREATENING. IT'S NOT JUST A COINCIDENCE! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUEL FUMES WERE EMITTED AROUND THE VEHICLE. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A LEAK. THE PROBLEM RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT HEARD A CHIME SOUND AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT INJURED HER SHOULDER ATTEMPTING TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
THE PORTION OF THE FUEL LINES NEAR THE FUEL PUMP, WHICH IS HIDDEN BY A FLEXIBLE COVER UNDERNEATH CAR, WAS DISCOVERED TO BE SEVERELY RUSTED NEARLY TO THE POINT OF LEAKING, REQUIRING FUEL LINE REPLACEMENT. IN CONTRAST, THE PORTION OF THE FUEL LINES EXPOSED UNDERNEATH CAR WAS STILL IN PRISTINE CONDITION. (CAR HAS BEEN GARAGED AT NIGHT SINCE DELIVERY.) ALTHOUGH GM HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR FUEL PUMP LEAKS, THE PROBLEM OFTEN IS INSTEAD THE FUEL LINE HAS RUSTED THROUGH AND IS LEAKING. THIS PROBLEM WOULD NOT BE EXPECTED, AND THUS APPEARS TO BE DUE TO A SATURN DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING DEFECT. BECAUSE OF THE PREVALENCE AND SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE, THE SERVICE MANAGER EXPECTS GM WILL EVENTUALLY ISSUE A RECALL FOR THE FUEL LINE PROBLEM. BECAUSE THE PORTION OF THE FUEL LINE SUBJECT TO SEVERE RUSTING IS HIDDEN BEHIND THE FLEXIBLE COVER UNDERNEATH THE CAR AND NOT THE EXPOSED SECTION, IT IS LIKELY TO BE NOTICED ONLY AFTER LEAKING OCCURS, RESULTING IN A FIRE HAZARD. A RECALL APPEARS DESIRABLE TO INSPECT PARTICULARLY THE HIDDEN PORTION OF THE FUEL LINES NEAR THE FUEL PUMP AND REPLACE THEM IF NEEDED. ALTHOUGH A MANUFACTURER MUST PROVIDE A REMEDY TO SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT A NO COST TO THE OWNER, IN THIS INSTANCE GM REFUSES TO PAY FOR THE FUEL LINE REPLACEMENT UNLESS THE NHTSA COMPELS THEM TO ISSUE A RECALL. *TR
AFTER BEING VERBALLY TOLD AND IN WRITING THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE WITH MY CAR AFTER THE IGNITION RECALL KIT WAS INSTALLED, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON BEFORE I COULD EVEN EXIT THE SERVICE DEALERSHIP LOT. I IMMEDIATELY RETURNED THE CAR TO THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHICH RESULTED IN GOING FROM NO CHARGES, EVERYTHING IS OK, TO MY CAR MYSTERIOUSLY MAY HAVE A CYLINDER 1 MISFIRE AND IT WILL COST ME $2,000 TO REPAIR. GENERAL MOTORS HAS AND CONTINUES TO GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND BY PLACING ME ON HOLD AND TRANSFERRING ME TO CALL CENTERS IN INDIA. THIS NIGHTMARE I HAVE ENDURED SINCE 6/6/2014 TO NOW IS A SHAME AND OUTRIGHT CRIMINAL IN MY OPINION. I NEVER POST ON SITES LIKE THESE BUT WANTED TO NOTIFY OTHER SATURN OWNERS WHO WORKED HARD TO OWN AND UP KEEP THEIR CARS. *TR
2007 SATURN ION. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH RECALL ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED, HE NOTICED THE REMOTE NO LONGER WORKED, WHICH WORKED PRIOR. THE NEXT PROBLEM, WAS THE KEY BEING DIFFICULT TO REMOVE FROM THE IGNITION AND SOMETIMES IT WAS DIFFICULT TO INSERT THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION. OCCASIONALLY, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. THE CONSUMER WOULD HAVE TO TURN THE KEY TO OFF AND THEN ON, WHICH WOULD REQUIRE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, TO GET THE VEHICLE TO TURN OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHEY THE SHAVED THE KEYS AND SAID THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. AS FOR THE REMOTE, THE DEALER COULDN'T REPROGRAM IT, AND THEY SUGGESTED, JUST BUYING A NEW ONE. THE CONSUMER SOON DISCOVERED, THE PROBLEM REMAINED THE SAME. ALSO, THE FUEL PUMP HAD TO REPLACED. THE PUMP WAS BUILT WITH PLASTIC FUEL LINES MOLDED INTO THE TOP OF THE PUMP. AT ABOUT 70,000, THE PLASTIC LINES CRACKED AT THE TOP OF THE PUMP, PROBABLY DUE TO VIBRATION. THE PROBLEM COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED, BY USING STEEL LINES CONNECTED TO THE PUMP, OR COMING OFF THE PUMP WITH A SHORT SECTION OF THE HOSE. THE FRACTURE LEAK WAS SMALL AT FIRST, BUT SMELL GAS WAS PRESENT, BUT A LEAK COULD NOT BE FOUND, UNTIL THE PRESSURE LINE CRACKED AT THE POINT IT MADE A PUDDLE UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE PUMP WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF $ 600. HOWEVER, THE NEW PUMP WAS BUILT EXACTLY LIKE THE FAILED PUMP. *JB
I OWN A 2007 SATURN ION 3 QUAD COUPE 2.4L. I AM CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING WHAT I FEEL IS EXACTLY DESCRIBED IN RECALL ID: 66615 (GM'S CAMPAIGN # IS 12190...THIS RECALL IS AN EXPANSION OF 09V419). MY EXACT VEHICLE IS SINGLED OUT IN THIS RECALL. THE ONLY THING IS THAT MY CAR WAS NOT BOUGHT IN NOR REGISTERED IN ONE OF THE QUALIFYING STATES. HOWEVER, DUE TO MY SERVICE TO THIS COUNTRY...BEING STATIONED IN CALIFORNIA, THE CAR WAS IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA. FOR NEARLY 2 YEARS. I IMAGINE THE STATES SINGLED OUT WERE SINGLED OUT BECAUSE OF THE HEAT IN THOSE LOCALES AND THE PROPENSITY OF PLASTIC TO DRY ROT. AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE RECALL DESCRIPTION, THE PLASTIC FUEL PUMP IS SUSCEPTIBLE TO CRACKING/LEAKING. AS A MEMBER OF THE MARINE CORPS FROM 2006-2010, I WAS NOT REQUIRED TO REGISTER MY VEHICLE WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA. THE CAR WAS BOUGHT IN IOWA...WHERE I NOW CURRENTLY RESIDE. I WOULD APPRECIATE SOME CONSIDERATION TO BE INCLUDED AND COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL. I AM EXPERIENCING A VERY STEADY GAS LEAK FROM THE VICINITY OF THE GAS TANK. MY CAR HAS LOST MUCH RESPONSIVENESS, IS DIFFICULT TO START, AND IS NOW INOPERABLE BECAUSE THE LEAK HAS GOTTEN FAR WORSE. THERE WAS A STRONG ODOR INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE SAME ISSUE IN AUGUST 2015. THE CONSUMER CLAIM FOR REIMBURSEMENT WAS DENIED. ACCORDING TO GM, THE REPAIR PERFORMED, WAS NOT THE REPAIR COVERED BY THE CUSTOMER SERVICE ACTION PROGRAM. THE CONSUMER REFERENCED RECALL # 12V459000. *JB
STARTED SMELLING GASOLINE AROUND THE CAR. UPON INSPECTION FOUND THAT THE GAS TANK WAS LEAKING AT THE SEAM WHERE THE FILLER TUBE GOES INTO THE TANK. THE LEAK WAS NOT JUST AT ONE POINT BUT PRACTICALLY ALL THE WAY AROUND. THE GAS WAS LITERALLY STREAMING OUT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ALL THEY SAID WAS THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY RECALL AND UNLESS THE FUEL PUMP ITSELF IS LEAKING THEY WOULD CHARGE ME $120 DIAGNOSIS FEE. I PATCHED IT AND GOT IT DOWN TO A SEEP. ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER THE FUEL PUMP STARTED LEAKING. I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE THE PUMP BUT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE FUEL TANK ($831). LABOR WOULD BE FREE SINCE THE TANK IS OFF ANYWAY. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE FUEL TANK SHOULD NEVER START LEAKING. IT WAS LEAKING FAR MORE THAN THE PUMP AND IN MY OPINION WAS FAR MORE DANGEROUS. EVEN AT VERY LOW LEVELS IT WOULD LEAK A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT, ESPECIALLY IF PARKED ON A UPWARD INCLINE. *TR
HELLO, THIS VEHICLE IS UNDER RECALL AND I HAVE RECEIVED NOTICES SINCE MARCH 2014 ABOUT THE RECALL. HOWEVER, IT DOESN'T SEEM THAT SATURN/GM IS TAKING THIS RECALL SERIOUSLY, AS I HAVE CALLED THEM 3 TIMES TO SEE IF I COULD GET IT FIXED AND SO FAR THEY HAVE SAID THEY CAN'T FIX IT. WHEN I CALLED BACK IN MARCH, THEY SAID THAT THEY WERE WAITING ON A PART AND SHOULD HAVE THE PARTS BY MID-APRIL. I WAS FINE WITH THAT, AND WAS TOLD TO DRIVE WITH JUST THE KEY (NO EXTRA WEIGHT). THEY SAID I WAS PUT ON A LIST, AND THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN THEY HAD THE PARTS. I WAS FINE WITH THIS AS I HAD NEVER HAD ANY TROUBLE WITH THE ENGINE LOSING POWER, BUT OF COURSE WANT TO GET IT FIXED IF THERE ARE PROBLEMS. THAT WAS NOW OVER 3 MONTHS AGO, AND I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM SATURN/GM. GMS NOTICE SAID TO CONTACT THE NHTSA IF I'M NOT SATISFIED WITH GMS RESPONSE TO THE RECALL, SO THAT IS WHAT I'M DOING. I INITIALLY CONTACTED GM'S CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER BACK IN MARCH, AND THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT MY LOCAL DEALER, WHO IS BILLION AUTO IN IOWA CITY, IOWA (HTTP://WWW.IOWACITYCHEVYCADILLAC.COM/). I'M ASSUMING THAT I'M STILL ON THEIR LIST, AND GM HAS NOT PROVIDED THEM WITH THE PARTS, OR THEY HAVE SO MANY VEHICLES TO FIX THAT I'M JUST TOO FAR DOWN ON THE LIST TO GET IT FIXED IN A REASONABLE TIME. I'M JUST WRITING THIS AS A COMPLAINT AGAINST GM AND HOW I DON'T FEEL THAT THEY ARE TAKING THE RECALL SERIOUSLY IF WE HAVE TO WAIT OVER 4 MONTHS TO GET OUR VEHICLES FIXED. I HAVE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE DAILY, AS IT IS MY ONLY VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
CAR IMPACTED BY THREE RECALLS 14V047, 14V171, 14V153 CONTACTED DEALERSHIP IN JUNE- NO PARTS, REGISTERED WITH DEALERSHIP OCTOBER TOLD PARTS ARE ON ORDER. DEALERSHIP ADVISED THERE ARE 700 CONSUMERS ON THEIR RECALL LIST, TO DATE THEY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SERVICE 100. NEITHER GM OR DEALERSHIP CAN PROVIDE ANY TIMELINE FOR WHEN MIGHT BE ABLE TO EXPECT REPAIR. AT THE LEAST, AS A CONSUMER HAVING A TIMEFRAME FOR REPAIR WOULD HELP US WEIGH OPTIONS, PARTICULARLY WHILE WE ARE FORCED TO PUT OUR FAMILIES AT RISK DUE TO THE CONTINUED UNAVAILABILITY OF PARTS. *TR

CAR STALLED THEN RAN AGAIN FINE. THOUGHT MAYBE BAD GAS OR SOMETHING. STARTED HEARING A LOUD NOISE IN THE ENGINE. CHANGE OIL CAME ON AND SO I TOOK IT IN TO BE SERVICED ONLY TO FIND OUT THE TIMING CHAIN HAD JUMPED KEYS. THIS IS A TERRIBLE ISSUE WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO WRECK HAD I NOT HAD PLENTY OF ROOM TO COAST OFF THE ROAD. ALSO SEAT BELT IS STUCK AND WILL NOT UNBUTTON SO I AM UNABLE TO BUCKLE UP THE RIGHT WAY UNTIL THAT'S FIXED TOO. LOOKING ONLINE ALL OF THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM HOWEVER IT APPEARS PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE FROM IT BEFORE A RECALL IS GIVEN. I URGE AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE SEATBELTS AND THE TIMING CHAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED THE VEHICLE INTO A CURB AND CAUSED A BLOW OUT TO THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND RECEIVED A NEW IGNITION SWITCH. FUEL LINES HAVE ROTTED AND BREACHED CAUSING FUEL TO LEAK. THIS LEAK LOCATION IS ON THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, APPROXIMATELY 3 INCHES FROM THE EXHAUST SYSTEM , A CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE. THIS FUEL LINE FAILURE HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED BY THE BRADSHAW AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE DEPT. (864-879-3536), A GM FACTORY DEALERSHIP. BRADSHAW AUTOMOTIVE HAS CONFIRMED THAT THERE IS NOTHING WHICH I OR ANY OTHER OWNER OR OPERATOR OF THIS VEHICLE EITHER DID OR FAILED TO DO WHICH WOULD CAUSE OR CONTRIBUTE TO THIS CATASTROPHIC FUEL LINE FAILURE. IT IS ALSO CONFIRMED THAT THIS FUEL LINE DAMAGE WAS NOT CAUSED BY AN ACCIDENT OR ANY OTHER TYPE TRAUMA TO THE VEHICLE OR THE FUEL SYSTEM. AFTER 2 WEEKS THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULD STILL STICK AND NOT ALLOW FOR THE KEY TO BE RETURNED TO THE OFF SWITCH AFTER SEVERAL TRIES. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH AND THE CAR ALTERED WITH THE ERROR SOUND AND PWR STR SHOWED ON THE ODOMETER DISPLAY. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL REPAIR AND I ENDED UP PAYING $205.00 FOR A NEW BATTERY BECAUSE THE CAR DIDN'T RUN FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS WHILE WAITING FOR PARTS TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THEY (DAVID CHEVROLET IN NIAGARA FALLS NY) TOLD ME THAT GM WAS NOT COVERING THE COST OF THE BATTERIES AND THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED TO 4 OR 5 OTHER PEOPLE. IN ADDITION TO THIS THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE A PART FOR THE POWER STEERING THAT WAS COVERED UNDER ANOTHER RECALL. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY CHARGED ME $65.00 IN LABOR CHARGES TO PUT IN THE BATTERY. WHEN I FINALLY GOT THE CAR HOME ,I AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED THE DOORS. GUESS WHAT, THE NEW IGNITION KEYS DON'T UNLOCK THE TRUNK OR THE CAR DOORS.
