THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE NOT REPAIRED NOR DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN OFF AFTER BEING DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A MISSING PIECE BROKEN IN THE IGNITION TUMBLER, WHICH WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOT CONTACTED REGARDING THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,911 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 80,800.
2007 SATURN ION. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO REIMBURSEMENT FOR IGNITION DEFECT REPAIRS. *SMD THE CONSUMER FROM DAY ONE, SHE HAD A DIFFICULT TIME REMOVING THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. THE SERVICE INVOICE STATED THE SHIFTER WAS REPLACED. GM DENIED THE CONSUMERS REQUEST FOR REIMBURSEMENT. ACCORDING TO THE LETTER FROM GM, THE REPAIR THAT WAS PERFORMED WAS NOT THE REPAIR COVERED BY THE RECALL. *JB
I'VE BEEN SMELLING GAS IN MY CAR. I THOUGHT THAT I HAD SPILT GAS ON MYSELF BUT NOW I SEE THERE'S A LEAK AND I'M GETTING HORRIBLE MILEAGE. IT APPEARS THERE'S A RECALL IN CERTAIN "WARM WEATHER" STATES FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. I LIVE IN NC. HOW IS THAT NOT A WARM WEATHER STATE? SO I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF A POCKET FOR A PROBLEM THAT GM KNOWS EXIST BUT SOMEHOW THEY MANAGED TO EEK OUT OF TAKING RESPONSIBILITY EXCEPT IN A FEW SELECT AREAS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M SUPPOSED TO DO. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND I CAN'T AFFORD A REPAIR LIKE THIS RIGHT NOW
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED AND THE WARNING BELL ADVISED THAT THE AIR BAG NEEDED SERVICE. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC WHICH WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A FAILURE CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,973 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 69,000.
AS I WAS DRIVING ALONG A CITY STREET LAST AUTUMN, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SHIFTING WITH A NOTICEABLE JERK EACH TIME IT WENT INTO ANOTHER GEAR. THIS IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP LIGHT I PUT THE CAR INTO PARK. WHEN I PUT THE CAR BACK INTO GEAR, THERE WAS AN EVEN STRONGER JERK. THE JERKING KEPT ON EACH TIME THE CAR SHIFTED. AT THE NEXT LIGHT I TURNED THE CAR OFF DURING THE RED LIGHT AND THEN TURNED IT ON WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED, SO I WENT STRAIGHT TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP. THEY WERE BUSY SO I HAD TO WAIT AWHILE, AND THEN IT TOOK ME AWHILE TO EXPLAIN THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE TECHNICIAN WENT OUT TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, THE PROBLEM WAS GONE. ISN'T THAT SOOOO TYPICAL. THIS LAST SUMMER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THIS TIME I WENT HOME AND LET THE CAR SIT THERE FOR 15 TO 20 MINUTES. THE PROBLEM WAS GONE AGAIN. MY FEAR IS THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT COULD HAPPEN THEN. *TR

2 MONTHS AGO I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FROM GM STATING IF I SMELL GAS OR SEE A LEAK BRING THE CAR IN FOR REPAIR AT NO CHARGE. IT ALSO STATED IT WAS NOT NECESSARY TO BRING IT IN UNLESS I'M EXPERIENCING THESE ISSUES. SUNDAY AFTERNOON WHILE DRIVING I NOTICED A STRONG SMELL OF GAS AND I THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT. I HAVE A SENSITIVE NOSE. MONDAY I COULD VISIBLY SEE GAS DRIPPING FROM THE CAR AND THE SMELL WAS SO STRONG I GOT SICK. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO GM DEALER. THEY CLAIM THAT THE PARTS AROUND THE RECALLED PART ARE BROKEN AND NOT THE ITEM RECALLED ITSELF. THEY WANTED $974.00 TO FIX IT AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO DRIVE AWAY AS IT WAS DANGEROUS. THEY ALSO CHARGED ME $75 FOR JUST LOOKING AT IT. I DON'T SEE HOW THIS IS A COINCIDENCE. I THINK THEY ARE GETTING AWAY WITH SCAMMING PEOPLE. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY ANOTHER GM CAR! I HAD THE CAR TOWED AND FOUND ANOTHER GARAGE TO REPAIR IT FOR $450. I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. *TR
I HAD JUST MADE A LEFT TURN INTO A PARKING LOT WHEN CHIMES AND THE MESSAGE "PWR STR" APPEARED ON THE DISPLAY. THE STEERING WHEEL THEN FELT LIKE IT LOCKED AND WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. I PULLED INTO AN EMPTY PARKING SPACE, TURNED OFF THE CAR, AND WAITED FOR 5 MINUTES BEFORE STARTING THE CAR. ONCE I RESTARTED THE CAR, I REVERSED AND WAS ABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AS NORMAL. I DROVE ABOUT A MILE BACK TO MY HOUSE AND THE CHIME NOR MESSAGE APPEARED AGAIN. I'M AFRAID THAT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN SO I'M TAKING MY CAR TO A GM DEALERSHIP FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. I WAS LUCKY THAT TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT AND I WAS GOING VERY SLOW. *TR
ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING RESULTING IN VERY DIFFICULT STEERING OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER TURNING VEHICLE OFF THE BACK ON THE POWER STEERING STARTED WORKING. POWER STEERING HAS FAILED AGAIN AND DID AGAIN START WORKING AFTER TURNING VEHICLE OFF. *TR
UNABLE TO CHANGE THE CABIN MODE AIRFLOW FROM DEFROST TO FEET TO SIDES, CABLE DISENGAGED, GM HAS DISCONTINUED THE PART FOR SEDAN, PART NUMBER 5240994901 941476, UNABLE TO FIND ACCEPTABLE REPLACEMENT PART AT ANY GM PARTS DEALERS/SELLERS AROUND COUNTRY. IF ONE CANNOT CHANGE THE DIRECTION OF THE AIRFLOW ONE CANNOT DEFROST FOR VISIBILITY. THIS PART COVERS 2003-2007 IONS, THE CAR IS ONLY 8 YEARS OLD, IF THAT.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE WARNING CONSOLE INDICATED THAT I HAD A POWER STEERING PROBLEM. THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY GAVE OUT. IT RESET ITSELF WHEN I STOPPED AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND STARTED IT BACK UP. THE POWER STEERING WORKED FOR A COUPLE MORE MILES GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THEN GAVE OUT AGAIN. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE LIGHT GOES OUT AND THE POWER STEERING COMES BACK ON FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, SOMETIMES MINUTES, SOMETIMES DAYS. THE POWER STEERING EVENTUALLY GOES OUT AGAIN AT RANDOM INTERVALS. *TR
WAS DRIVING OVER A BRIDGE GOING 55MPH AND MY POWER STEERING WENT ON MY VEHICLE ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WITH NO WHERE TO GET OFF THE ROAD, IT THEN CONTINUE TO HAPPEN ON THE REST OF MY TRIP. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE PROBLEM HAD OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO REMEDY WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER HAVING THE ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN REPLACED, THE STEERING SYSTEM STARTED CLICKING AS THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE TEST RESULTS SHOWED A DEFECT IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE STEERING COLUMN REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,744.
A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO I STARTED SMELLING GAS FUMES COMING FROM MY CAR. THE FUMES WHERE MAINLY LOCATED IN THE DRIVER SIDE BACK TIRE AND INSIDE MY VEHICLE. I FINALLY TOOK THIS CAR TO THE SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE FILLER NECK WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE MY CAR IS LEAKING GASOLINE. THIS CAR HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT A HEADACHE I AM READY TO TRADE IT IN.... *TR

PASSENGER AIRBAG ISSUE WHERE THE PASSENGER AWARENESS SYSTEM HAD A FAULT. IT DISABLED MY AIR BAGS. FOR A COUPLE WEEKS I RODE AROUND NOT KNOWING ALL MY AIR BAGS WERE DISABLED. DEALER CHARGED AROUND $900 TO REPLACE SENSOR! I FELT LIKE I HAD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN SAFETY AND SPENDING A TON OF MONEY. *TR
THE POWER STEERING LIGHT POPS ON WHILE I'M DRIVING. WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND THEN BACK ON THERE IS NO POWER STEERING LIGHT BUT WILL POP BACK ON LATER DURING MY DRIVE. EXTREMELY HARD ON THE DRIVER. *TR
THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE ON A BUSY FREEWAY. VERY SCARY AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE IT WAS VERY HARD TO STEER. AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTING A FEW MINUTES LATER, THE PROBLEM WAS GONE BUT HAS SINCE HAPPENED TWO TIMES. I NOW KNOW THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR AND FEEL GM SHOULD FIX THIS AT NO CHARGE AS THIS IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND IS DANGEROUS. *TR
WAS DRIVING ON I-40 HEADING HOME ONE NIGHT FROM WORK AND THE POWER STEERING ALERT CAME ON. THE WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN AND CONTROL MY CAR. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ALL WAS RIGHT FOR ABOUT 10 MINS AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. SINCE THEN I HAVE NO POWER STEERING IN MY CAR BECAUSE THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY AN OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND RECALLED FOR THE SAFETY OF THE OWNERS AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. *TR
I REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE GOING 30 MPH. COMPLETELY DESTROYED THE FRONT END OF MY VEHICLE, AND YET THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. INSTEAD OF MY AIRBAGS STOPPING MY HEAD FROM HITTING ANYTHING MY FACE HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND MY EYE SOCKET WAS FRACTURED. *TR
FROM 2010-PRESENT (2013), THE VEHICLE HAS EXHIBITED INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING FAILURE. FAILURES WOULD OCCUR AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR SOME TIME, RANGING FROM SEVERAL MINUTES, TO SEVERAL HOURS. POWER STEERING WOULD CUT OUT WHILE DRIVING, PRESUMABLY AFTER EXTENSIVE UTILIZATION OF THE POWER STEERING MECHANISMS. AT THIS POINT A CHIME WOULD SOUND AND THE "CHECK ENGINE" DASH LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE, INDICATING AN ISSUE WITH THE POWER STEERING. POWER STEERING LOSS WOULD REMAIN UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. UPON THE RESTART OF THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING WOULD AGAIN RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. FAILURES WOULD OCCUR AT SPORADIC INTERVALS. NO COMMON FACTOR COULD BE EASILY IDENTIFIED SUCH AS TEMPERATURE, HUMIDITY, STEERING INTENSITY OR TRIP LENGTH, ALTHOUGH THESE MAY BE FACTORS. STEERING FAILURE EVENTS OCCUR APPROXIMATELY ONCE EVERY 8 MONTHS. *TR
EARLY IN 2013, WE NOTED SOME MOISTURE IN THE TRUNK OF THIS VEHICLE. IN LATE MAY, WE HUNG A "DAMP RID" DESICCANT DEVICE IN THE TRUNK AND NOTED THAT THE "DAMP RID" DEVICE RAPIDLY SATURATED WITH MOISTURE AND ALSO FORMED CLUMPS AND/OR CRYSTALS IN THE TRUNK OF THE AUTO. (THE "DAMP RID" IN THE TRUNK WAS SATURATED WITHIN TWO WEEKS, WHEREAS IT TAKES A COUPLE OF MONTHS WHEN HANGING INSIDE A CLOSET IN THE HOUSE 1-888-326-7743). THIS WEEK, I INSERTED A BRAND NEW 9 VOLT BATTERY INTO A KIDDE MODEL NUMBER KN-COEG-3 CARBON MONOXIDE/EXPLOSIVE GAS MONITOR AND PLACED THE MONITOR IN THE TRUNK. WITHIN 24 HOURS, THE MONITOR WAS CHIRPING. THE PEAK LEVEL OF GAS AFTER 24 HOURS IN THE TRUNK OF THE CAR WAS 10. (THIS HOUSEHOLD MONITOR CAN NOT DISCRIMINATE THE PRECISE TYPE OF GAS IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE). TODAY, I OPENED THE TRUNK AND CLEANED EVERYTHING OUT. THE SOURCE OF THE MOISTURE WAS CLEARLY NOTED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE INSIDE OF THE TRUNK BECAUSE THE INTERIOR OF THE TRUNK WAS ACTUALLY MUDDY CLOSE TO A ONE WAY FLAPPER VENT/VALVE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE ONE WAY VALVE MEASURES AROUND 4 INCHES HIGH AND 6 INCHES LONG. I AM REPORTING THIS BECAUSE OF THE PROXIMITY TO THE GAS TANK FILLER CAP ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, 12 VOLT AC DELCO BATTERY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IN THE TRUNK, AND AUTO EMISSIONS FROM THIS SATURN AND OTHER CARS. INHALATION OF ANY OR ALL OF THESE FUMES OR VAPORS CAN LEAD TO HEALTH PROBLEMS INCLUDING ERRATIC BEHAVIOR, DROWSINESS, ETC. OF COURSE THE RISK OF EXPLOSION AND CORROSION OF SENSITIVE ELECTRICAL AND FUEL COMPONENTS IS ACCELERATED IN DAMP CONDITIONS. *TR
THE MANUFACTURER KEY WONT START THE CAR WITHOUT SPENDING OVER 10 MIN. TURNING THE WHEEL BACK AND FORTH AND FINDING JUST THE RIGHT "SPOT". KEY WILL COME OUT FINE, EVEN WITHOUT SHUTTING CAR COMPLETELY OFF AT TIMES. THIS IS INSANE, FROM WHAT I'VE READ, THERE ARE MORE THAN ENOUGH COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO THIS TO WARRANT AN INVESTIGATION OR RECALL. THIS IS NOT ONLY A SAFETY FEATURE, ITS JUST SHOWS HORRIBLE WORKMANSHIP. ALREADY BEEN A PART OF THE ORIGINAL POWER STEERING RECALL BEFORE IT BECAME A RECALL. PEOPLE NEED TO COMPLAIN, KEEP COMPLAINING AND DEMAND GM TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS CRAP. *TR
THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED WHILE TURNING ONTO AN EXIT RAMP FROM AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH. AS SOON AS IT OCCURRED, THE CONSOLE LIGHT INDICATED A POWER STEERING CODE. AFTER PULLING INTO A TRUCK STOP, I LOOKED TO CHECK FOR THE POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL, AND DISCOVERED THAT IT IS AN ELECTRONIC SYSTEM. WHEN RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED. THERE WERE NO ISSUES FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND MANY MILES, AND NOW IT IS HAPPENING FREQUENTLY, AND OCCURS AT BOTH LOW AND HIGHWAY SPEED, WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE IN STRAIGHT CONDITIONS, AND WHILE TURNING ON CITY STREETS AND PARKING LOTS. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ONLINE AND HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THIS TYPE OF SITUATION IT IS ALREADY UNDER INVESTIGATION BY THE NHTSA. *TR
HAD BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE KEY STICKING AND THE CAR NOT TURNING OFF FOR A WEEK. TODAY AFTER PARKING I COULD NOT TURN THE CAR OFF AT ALL, THE KEY WAS STUCK TIGHT. I CALLED MY HUSBAND DROVE THE CAR HOME, HE COULDN'T TURN THE CAR OFF AND HE'S A CAR AND AIRPLANE MECHANIC. FINALLY GOT A HOLD OF DEALERSHIP WHERE THE SERVICE MANAGER FELT SORRY FOR ME AND TOLD ME TO BRING THE CAR IN IMMEDIATELY, HE COULD NOT TURN THE CAR OFF. THEY EVENTUALLY WERE ABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF, BUT THE REPLACEMENT TUMBLER AND KEYS WILL COST ME $230 BECAUSE-OF COURSE-MY WARRANTY RAN OUT. I THINK THAT GM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COSTS BECAUSE IT IS A DESIGN FLAW WITH POTENTIAL SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES AND SAFETY ISSUES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO SOMEONE LEAVING A RUNNING CAR IN A CLOSED GARAGE BECAUSE UNLIKE ME, THEY COULD NOT FIND A KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR OR ALTERNATIVELY BATTERY REMOVAL COULD DAMAGE THE COMPUTER SYSTEMS OR A SPARK CAUSED BY UNEDUCATED REMOVAL OF THE BATTERY COULD CAUSE A BATTERY EXPLOSION OR ELECTRICAL FIRE. THE SATURN IS NOT THE ONLY GM PRODUCT WITH THIS PROBLEM AND A BRIEF SEARCH ON GOOGLE, SHOWED THAT MANY OWNERS ARE PAYING A WIDE RANGE OF REPAIR BILLS FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
HAD JUST PULLED OUT OF DRIVEWAY WHEN POWER STEERING INDICATOR CHIMED AND I LOST POWER STEERING. PULLED OVER AND TURNED VEHICLE OFF. WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON, CAR FUNCTIONED NORMALLY AND I WAS ABLE TO PROCEED TO MY DESTINATION. ARE THERE ANY RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM AS I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ON YOUR SITE? *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, A WARNING CHIME SOUNDED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMALLY UPON BEING RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE FUSE WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
SEVERAL TIMES PER WEEK (AND SOMETIMES 2-3 TIMES PER DAY) THERE IS A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR INSIDE MY CAR WHILE I AM DRIVING. IT IS SO STRONG IT GIVES ME A HEADACHE, AND I HAVE SOMETIMES BECOME SICK TO MY STOMACH. MY PASSENGER IS ABLE TO SMELL IT AS WELL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AND ATTEMPTING TO COME TO TURN A CORNER WHEN THE VEHICLES STEERING SUDDENLY DIED. A "CHIME" SOUNDED, I HAD NO ABILITY TO STEER AND MY BRAKES FAILED! IN A PANIC AS I HEADED STRAIGHT FOR A MOM WITH TWO CHILDREN I PULLED MY EMERGENCY BRAKE AND JUMPED THE CURB. MY CAR WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL GOOD YEAR BY MY HOME. I RESEARCHED THE SATURN ION 2007 THAT NIGHT AND FOUND OUT GM IS AWARE OF THE POWER STEERING ISSUE AND REFUSED TO ISSUE A RECALL BUT THEY WILL "FIX YOUR CAR FOR FREE AT A DEALERSHIP". AFTER A DAY AND A HALF OF GM REFUSING TO TOW MY CAR TO ONE OF THEIR DEALERSHIPS, I HAD THE LOCAL SHOP FIX IT. I WAS THEN TOLD BY GM THAT THEY "MIGHT" REIMBURSE ME. I ALMOST DIED, ALMOST KILLED SOMEONE, MISSED WORK THE NEXT DAY, SHELLED OUT $1000 AND THEY "MIGHT" HELP ME IF THEY DEEM ME FIT. I AM OUTRAGED. PLEASE HELP THE OWNERS OF THESE DEATH MACHINES SEEK JUSTICE AND FORCE GM TO RECALL THE VEHICLES - SAVE LIVES PLEASE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING CAR ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR IS VERY VERY HARD TO TURN. WHEN YOU RESTART THE CAR PROBLEM GOES AWAY HOWEVER RETURNS AGAIN. *TR
POWER STEERING INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND STEERING ASSIST FAILED COMPLETELY. NO PRIOR PROBLEMS OR WARNING. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO SERVICE CENTER. REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE AND BILL PAID PERSONALLY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY WHEN I LOST ALL THROTTLE RESPONSE. AFTER INVESTIGATING I FOUND IT HAD TO BE THE FUEL PUMP THAT QUIT. WHEN INVESTIGATING WHY THE FUEL PUMP QUIT AFTER A NEW ONE DID NOT FIX MY PROBLEM, I NOTICED THE WIRES GOT TOO HOT AND BURNED BLACK AND ACTUALLY BURNED THROUGH THE POSITIVE WIRE AT THE CONNECTOR GOING INTO THE FUEL TANK. HOT WIRES AND BURNING WIRES INSIDE A GAS TANK IS NOT A SAFE COMBINATION. TO TOP IT OFF, I HAD TO DRILL THROUGH THE CONNECTOR AND WIRE IN A PIGTAIL CONNECTOR PURCHASED FROM THE DEALER SINCE THEY WOULD NOT SELL ME THE WHOLE FUEL TANK COVER TO REPLACE IT PROPERLY. ONLY AFTER HAGGLING WITH DEALERS THAT WOULD NOT GIVE ME PART NUMBER OR SELL ME THE FUEL TANK COVER THAT THEY FINALLY GAVE ME THE PART NUMBER OF 25815572 BUT IT IS UNDER RESTRICTION TO SELL SO THAT IS WHY THEY SOLD ME THE "BACKYARD MECHANIC FIX". MY WORRY IS STILL THAT I HAVE MY FAMILY TRAVEL IN THE CAR AND I DO NOT WANT THIS THING CATCHING FIRE OR EXPLODING. IS THERE A DEFECT IN THE PART IS WHY IT ALMOST CAUGHT FIRE ON ME? AND IS THERE STILL A DEFECT AND THAT IS WHY THE PART IS ON RESTRICTION? WHAT IS THE CORRECT, SAFE FIX FOR MY FAMILY? I JUST WANT A SAFE WORKING VEHICLE AND A EXPLANATION IN WHY IT IS SO DIFFICULT TO GET THE PART I WANTED AT FIRST. IT IS RUNNING NOW BUT IT IS WITH THE DRILLING THROUGH THE CONNECTOR, SEALING IT, AND SOLDERING THE NEW WIRES IN. MY SATURN IS A CALIFORNIA EMISSION VEHICLE BUT IS CURRENTLY IN MI. WHY IS THIS NOT COVERED UNDER SOME OF THE RECALLS? IS THIS LIKE THE CA CANCER WARNINGS THAT ARE ONLY IN THAT STATE? THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS SCHEDULED TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE FUEL EMITTED WITH A PUDDLE OF FUEL VISIBLE ON THE GROUND. THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) AND THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL IN 2010. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN RECENTLY REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
I PURCHASED A 2007 SATURN ION IN THE FALL OF 2008. MY GRANDAUGHTER TOOK THE CAR TO CALIFORNIA AND DECIDED TO LIVE THERE. A FEW MONTHS AGO SHE CALLED TO TELL ME THAT SHE KEPT SMELLING FUEL IN THE CAR WHEN SHE DROVE. SHE TOOK THE CAR INTO SEARS AND THEY TOLD HER SHE NEEDED A NEW FUEL PUMP. SHE KEPT SMELLING FUEL AND FOUND OUT THE SEARS DID NOT REPAIR THE CAR SO SEARS GAVE HER A FULL REFUND AFTER SHE COMPLAINED. SHE TOOK THE CAR TO A SERVICE STATION AND HAD THE FUEL LINE REPLACED BECAUSE SHE WAS TOLD IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED....IT WAS CRACKED. AFTER SHE HAD THE CAR REPAIRED I RECEIVED A NOTICE ABOUT THE RECALL FOR SATURN IONS AND THE FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEM. I HAD HER SEND ME THE BILL FOR THE REPAIRS. THE LETTER GM SENT STATED THAT IF WE HAD ALREADY MADE REPAIRS FOR THE FUEL PROBLEM, THEY WOULD REIMBURSE. WHEN I GO TO THE GM WEBSITE NOW, IT STATES THAT THE 2007 SATURN ION HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. I HAVE ALSO TRIED CALLING GM WITH NO SUCCESS. WHERE DO I SENT THE BILL WE HAVE? WHY IS GM NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THE RECALL FOR THE 2007 SATURN ION FOR THOSE BOUGHT OR REGISTERED IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA?? THANK YOU! *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY HARD TO MANEUVER. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY OVER A PERIOD OF A YEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INDICATED THAT THE POWER STEERING UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFERED ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 14V153000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
I TURNED RIGHT AT A LIGHT AND AS SOON AS I BEGAN TO PICK UP SPEED MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT INDICATOR CAME ON. I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL MY CAR. THIS WAS VERY FRIGHTENING YET SINCE I WAS NOT ON THE FREEWAY YET I WAS ABLE TO MERGE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TURNED MY CAR OFF AND BACK ON YET THE STEERING WARNING LIGHT WAS STILL ON AND I COULD NOT MOVE MY CAR. I CALLED THE TOW TRUCK AND AFTER MY CAR SAT FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES AND I RESTATED THE VEHICLE THE POWER STEERING LIGHT WAS OFF AND MY STEERING WHEEL WAS MOVABLE. DUE TO THE DANGEROUS NATURE OF THIS EVENT I AM CONTACTING GM BECAUSE I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR AT A HIGH SPEED WITH CHANCE I WOULD LOOSE CONTROL OF MY CAR. *TR

2007 SATURN ION I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT 02/03/2013, WITH VERY MINIMAL DAMAGE TO MY LEFT, FRONT PANEL. ALMOST A MONTH LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND DROVE FINE FOR 3 DAYS. AFTER THE 3RD DAY MY CAR WOULD TURN OVER BUT IT WOULD NOT START. I HAD THE ORIGINAL REPAIR CENTER INSPECT MY VEHICLE AND THEY TOLD ME THE TIMING CHAIN WAS OFF, BUT IT WAS NOT RELATED TO THE CAR ACCIDENT. I GOT A SECOND OPINION FROM ANOTHER MECHANIC AND HE ADVISED ME THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS NOT DUE TO MY ACCIDENT. I'VE NEVER HAD ANY TROUBLE WITH MY VEHICLE BEFORE THIS INCIDENT AND AFTER SEARCHING THE WEB AND FINDING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT TIMING CHAIN ISSUES, I'M CURIOUS AS TO WHY THERE'S NO RECALL. *TR

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND LOST MY POWER STEERING CAPABILITIES. I PULLED INTO A LES SCHWAB SERVICE CENTER TO HAVE THEM SEE IF I WAS OUT OF POWER STEERING FLUID. LEARNED THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO ASCERTAIN THAT. WHEN I TURNED MY CAR BACK ON, THE POWER STEERING WORKED. I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT AT 50 MPH , WHEN A CHIME SOUNDED, POWER STEERING WAS DISPLAYED ON MESSAGE CENTER, AND POWER STEERING FORCE WAS LOST. STEERING BECAME ALMOST TOO HEAVY TO STEER AT ALL. WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, TURN OFF IGNITION, AND RESET STEERING SYSTEM. SINCE THEN, THIS HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING AT LEAST 20 TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR. POWER STEERING MOTOR FELT HOT TO TOUCH. I AM STUCK WITH THIS VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION. RECALL SHOULD INCLUDE ALL CARS AFFECTED. GM IS NEGLIGENT SO FAR IN REPLACING THIS ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES. *JS
