HEADLIGHT WENT OUT -STARTED TO CHANGE LIGHT AND IT CAME BACK ON. WENT OUT AGAIN AND TOOK TO THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR -IT WAS NOT HEADLIGHT - WIRING HARNESS/WIRING MELTED AND EXPOSED THE WIRING. THIS PROBLEM IS SO COMMON IN SATURN OUTLOOKS THAT I WAS ABLE TO DO AN INTERNET SEARCH AND TELL THE DEALER THE SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER OF THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT FROM USE, ABUSE, BUT FROM A FLAW IN WIRING THAT I FEEL IS A SAFETY ISSUE. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED BEFORE MORE PROBLEMS/FIRES OCCUR AND RESULTS IN SERIOUS INJURY. ALSO -- IT WILL BE ONE WEEK AGO TOMORROW SINCE THE DEALER ORDERED THE PARTS AND STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED THEM. MY VEHICLE HAS NO FRONT HEADLIGHT - I HAVE FOUR CHILDREN AND NEED TRANSPORTATION LARGE ENOUGH FOR 6 SO WE HAVE TO DRIVE IT UNSAFELY WITHOUT A HEADLIGHT. *TR
ABOUT A MONTH AGO, THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF MY 2007 OUTLOOK XR STARTED EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT OPERATION. I TRIED TO TAKE IT INTO THE SHOP ONCE, BUT BY THEN THEY HAD COME BACK ON. A FEW WEEKS LATER, BOTH OF MY HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT. THIS TIME, I HAD THE SHOP LOOK FURTHER INTO THE PROBLEM. AS IT TURNED OUT, BOTH OF THE HEADLIGHT HARNESSES WERE COMPLETELY MELTED AND MY MECHANIC REPORTED THAT ONE EVEN APPEARED TO HAVE CAUGHT FIRE. WE HAD TO PAY TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES BECAUSE THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ISSUED FOR OUR OUTLOOK, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE SEEN ONLINE REPORTS OF THIS SORT OF PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT THE NEW HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES ARE MUCH STURDIER AND THAT THIS PROBLEM SHOULDN'T REOCCUR, HOWEVER, I FEEL THAT GM SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE ONE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. OBVIOUSLY THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE METAL AND/OR WIRING ON THE FIRST HEADLIGHT HARNESSES. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE GM ISSUE A RECALL ON THESE AND FOR US TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE COST WE'VE ALREADY INCURRED. *TR
MY WIFE HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING SUDDEN ACCELERATION AND REVVING OF ENGINE AT STOP LIGHTS AND THEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND LEFT HER STRANDED AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE HAVE HAD THIS REPAIRED BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS AND WE DON'T KNOW WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WILL FAIL AGAIN. *TR
MY DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. I PURCHASED A NEW ONE AND WHEN I INSTALLED IT, IT DID NOT WORK. I CHECKED THE CONNECTION MORE THOROUGHLY AND FOUND THE CONNECTOR MELTED ON ONE SIDE. THE COPPER CONNECTER WAS BLACK AND THE SURROUNDING BLACK PLASTIC BRITTLE AND MISSHAPEN. YOU CANNOT REPLACE THE WIRE HARNESS WITHOUT REMOVING THE COMPOSITE LIGHT FIXTURE WHICH LOOKS LIKE YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY. THE AVERAGE CAR OWNER WOULD HAVE A DIFFICULT TIME JUST REPLACING THE LOW BEAM LAMP. THE HIGH BEAM LAMP REQUIRES DISASSEMBLY. OF THE COMPOSITE HEADLAMP UNIT. THE WIRES ARE THIN ON THE LIGHTING HARNESS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM AND GM NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. *TR
VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. WHEN LEAVING A DRIVEWAY I ACCELERATED UP TO SPEED, THEN EASED MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR TO START COASTING UP TO THE INTERSECTION AHEAD. VEHICLE STARTED SLOWING, BUT AFTER A SECOND OR TWO, IT STARTED ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN AGAIN. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND COULD SLOW THE VEHICLE A BIT. THE ACCELERATION LASTED ABOUT 5 SECONDS. *TR
2 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE, MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS WOULD FLASH RED ON AND OFF EVERYTIME A PASSENGER WAS GETTING IN AND OUT OF THE SEAT. THIS IS A CONTINUE CONCERN FOR ME AND THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. I WORRY THAT IF THE AIRBAG IS FLASHING AND NOT WORKING AND WE GET INTO AN ACCIDENT THAT SOMEONE WOULD GET EXTREMELY HURT OR EVEN KILLED. THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE, BUT WHEN I CALLED THE SATURN HOTLINE TO FILE A COMPLAINT, THEY STATED THAT "MY VEHICLE/VIN # WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST". THIS IS RIDICULOUS AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND OBVIOUSLY IT SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF FREE OF CHARGE AT MY LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP SINCE IT HAS A RECALL. *TR
I OWN A 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. NOT ALWAYS ENGAGING WHEN A PASSENGER OVER 100 LBS IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. SOMETIMES THE AIRBAG LIGHT SWITCHES BACK AND FORTH FROM ON TO OFF AND THEN USUALLY STAYS OFF. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING, OR HAVING THE PASSENGER JUMP UP AND DOWN ON THE SEAT, IT MAY ENGAGE THE AIRBAG, BUT NOT ALWAYS. THIS ALSO CONCERNS ME THE SEATBELT TENSION IS TRIGGERED BASED ON THE AIRBAG BAG LIGHT BEING ON OR OFF. WHEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS OFF, AND THE PASSENGER UNBUCKLES THE SEATBELT, THE SEATBELT WARNING LIGHT IS NOT ENGAGED! WE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW. THE SATURN DEALER COULD NOT LOCATE THE PROBLEM AND SAID TO BRING IT BACK WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN. EACH TIME THEY TELL US IT IS WORKING, ALTHOUGH WE HAVE TAKEN MULTIPLE PHOTOS TO SHOW IT DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. IT APPEARS THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE FRONT AIRBAGS, HOWEVER NOTHING WAS RECEIVED FOR MY VEHICLE (VIN). THIS IS A MAJOR SAFELY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BEFORE AN ACCIDENT HAPPENS. *TR
DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. GM DEALER INSTRUCTED ME THAT THE WIRING HARNESS WAS BROKEN AT THE PLUG WHERE IT PLUGS INTO THE LIGHT SOCKET. IT SEEMS THAT THERE ARE OTHER OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM AND DO NOT ABOUT THIS SIGHT TO FILE THE COMPLAINT. I HAVE READ ON OTHER FORUMS AND KNOW THIS FOR SURE AND IF THERE IS A PROBLEM THEN THE NATIONAL SAFETY BOARD SHOULD MAKE A RECALL ON THE ISSUE AND HAVE EVERYONE'S PROBLEM TAKING CARE OF. *TR
I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE AND ONE WEEK LATER HAD A TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I WAS PULLING OUT ONTO A ROAD AND THE TRANSMISSION QUIT WORKING. THE RPMS WOULD REV, BUT THERE WAS NO POWER. SINCE THEN THIS HAS BECOME A REGULAR OCCURRENCE, AND GM IS NOT WILLING TO HELP AT ALL. I'VE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS HAVING PARTS REPLACED AND I'M NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING MY CHILDREN IN THIS CAR ANYMORE.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT BULBS BURN OUT FREQUENTLY. ONE LINE CONNECTOR MELTED ONCE. RECURRING PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE RESEARCHED ON VARIOUS ONLINE FORUMS AND FOUND THAT MANY OWNERS OF SATURN OUTLOOKS AND GMC ACADIAS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM OF WIRING HARNESSES TO THE HEADLAMPS MELTING. THIS REQUIRES A REPLACEMENT OF THE WIRING HARNESS, WHICH MUST BE DONE AT THE DEALER SINCE THE ONLY WAY TO ACCESS THE WIRING IS TO REMOVE THE FRONT TIRE AND THE WHEEL WELL. *TR
VEHICLE ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN - THIS HAS HAPPEN 4 TIMES IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN AT ANY SPEED. ON AUG 14, 2011, ALMOST HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE IN TRAFFIC JAM, WHILE VEHICLE WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE WHILE I HAD THE BRAKE PRESSED. OTHER TIME HAPPEN ON THE FREEWAY IN TRAFFIC VEHICLE ACCELERATED, HAD TO PRESS BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN VEHICLE UNTIL ACCELERATION STOPPED. ANOTHER TIME THIS HAPPEN WHILE DECELERATING ON A FREEWAY OFF-RAMP. ANOTHER TIME WAS ON A SECONDARY ROAD. EACH TIME THE ACCELERATION LASTED ABOUT 3 TO 5 SECONDS. PRESSING THE BRAKE DID NOT STOP THE ACCELERATION. *TR
ON 08/13/2011, I WAS TRAVELING ON NORTHBOUND I-95 WHEN A LOUD BOOM OCCURED AND THE CAR BEGAN LURCHING OUT OF CONTROL BRINGING THE TIRES OFF OF THE GROUND. I MANAGED TO GET THE VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL AND DISCOVERED THE BOLTS ON THE DRIVESHAFT HAD LOOSENED AND FELL OFF, RESULTING IN THE DRIVESHAFT STRIKING THE PAVEMENT "LIKE A CATAPULT" AND OBSERVED THE DRIVESHAFT LAYING UNDER THE CAR, DISABILING THE VEHICLE IN TRAFFIC WITH NO CONTROL. HAD MY INFANT AND TWO OTHER CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND THEY WERE FLUNG ABOUT DURING THE INCIDENT. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE BOLTS ON THE DRIVESHAFT HAVE LOOSENED AND FALLEN OFF, RENDERING THE VEHICLE INOPERABALE AND CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE CONTROL WHEN THE DRIVESHAFT STRIKES THE PAVEMENT. THE LAST ONE (04/10) OCCURED AT A LOW SPEED BUT STILL CAUSED THE TIRES TO LEAVE THE GROUND. SATURN HAS ISSUED A TBI FOR THE BOLTS BUT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM AS EVIDENCED BY THIS MOST RECENT INCIDENT. *TR
I HAVE OWNED MY 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK SINCE NEW. I LOVE MY CAR OVERALL, BUT HAVE EXPERIENCED SOME UNWANTED REPAIRS. BESIDES THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG NOT WORKING PROPERLY, AND THE SUNROOF LEAKS, I HAVE HAD TO COMPLETELY REPLACE 3 HEADLIGHT HARNESSES ALREADY. MY RIGHT LIGHT WENT OUT APPROXIMATELY 2YRS AGO. FOUND OUT THE WIRING WAS COMPLETELY MELTED. SATURN ADVISED THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND REPLACED IT UNDER WARRANTY AT NO COST. JUST RECENTLY, THE SAME HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WHO INITIALLY TOLD ME IT WAS JUST A HEADLIGHT AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. TURNS OUT IT WAS THE HARNESS AGAIN. WHILE THE HARNESS WAS ON ORDER, MY OTHER HEADLIGHT WENT OUT CAUSING ME TO DRIVE WITH HIGHBEAMS FOR LIGHTING FOR SEVERAL DAYS. YES, IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM FOR BOTH LIGHTS. THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WENT AHEAD AND REPAIRED THEM BOTH AT NO CHARGE TO ME AS A COURTESY THEY SAID. MY VEHICLE HAD 72,000 MILES. WHILE I APPRECIATE THAT THEY COVERED THE COSTS, I ALSO FEEL THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING IN THE FIRST PLACE. AFTER READING SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS, I FEEL GRATEFUL I DID NOT PAY BUT AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A FIRE HAZARD. MY HEADLIGHTS WERE SO HOT I COULD NOT EVEN TOUCH THEM AND THAT WAS AFTER THEY BURNT OUT! GM NEEDS TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND RECALL THESE VEHICLES FOR IMMEDIATE AND PERMANENT REPAIRS. THEY KEEP REPLACING THE HARNESS WITH THE SAME HARNESS SO IT WILL CONTINUE TO BE A MAJOR SAFELY HAZARD. *TR
THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH ALL THESE VEHICLES WITH WATER LEAKING INTO THE VEHICLES SOMEWHERE AS OF TODAY 1/20/2012 THE DEALERSHIP HAS HAD MY VEHICLE AND CAN NOT FIND WHERE THE WATER IS COMING IN. THE WATER IS LEAKING OUT THRU THE AIRBAG AREAS, THE SEATBELT AREAS AND THE HEADLINERS ONTO THE DASH. I AM WORRIED ABOUT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. GM/SATURN HAS HAD SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE (EDMUNDS.COM) SHOWS A MULTITUDE OF COMPLAINTS BUT THERE YET HAS BEEN ANY RECALL MADE TO ATTEMPT TO FIGURE OUT THIS PROBLEM AND NOT ONLY THAT THE DEALERSHIP SAID I COULD BE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS AND NOT GM/SATURN EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE SERIOUS ISSUES WITH THIS HAPPENING. THIS LEAK COULD IF IT HAS NOT ALREADY CAUSED SOME TYPE OF ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT HAVE NOT BEEN DETECTED YET AND I WILL BE STUCK BECAUSE GM WILL NOT RECALL THIS ITEM. THEY DID HAVE ARECALL FOR THIS IN 08 BUT IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE HOLDING UP AND I WAS ACTUALLY TOLD BY A DEALERSHIP THAT "I WAS SCREWED". HELP US PLEASE. *TT
MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT STOPPED WORKING JULY 25 2011, I PUT A NEW LAMP IN ON AUGUST 7 2011 AND FOUR DAYS LATER IT WANT OUT AGAIN. AFTER CHECKING ON LINE AND CHECKED THE WIRING HARNESS AND LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE MY CONNECTOR HAD MELTED AWAY TOO. SO NOW I HAVE TO FIND A REPLACEMENT HARNESS ? *TT
PASSENGER SIDE LOW-BEAM HEAD LAMP HAS BEEN FIXED TWICE. HAVE DETERMINED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS IS DEFECTIVE. I BELIEVE THAT A RECALL IS IN ORDER ON THIS RECURRING MANUFACTURES PROBLEM FOR MANY CONSUMERS. *TR
I HAVE ALSO HAVE HAD SOME BAD LUCK WITH THE HEADLIGHT WIREING ON MY 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK. SO WHEN WILL USA RAN COMPANY GM STAND UP AND ADMIT THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. I CAN'T BELEAVE THAT SO MANY HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH FAULTY WIREING THAT COULD POSE A FIRE HAZZARD AND LOSS OF HEADLIGHT FUNCTION FOR SAFETY. OTHER THAN THAT ISSUE I LOVE THIS SUV. I LOVE HOW WE ARE ALL PLAYING RUSSIAN ROULETTE WITH OUR FAMLIES LIVES DUE TO A FAULTY WIRE ISSUE IN THE HEADLIGHT TO CAUSE THEM TO OVER HEAT AND MELT EXPOSSING THE COPPER WIRE. 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK DRIVERS SIDE HEADLAMP PLUG MELTED/ELECTRICAL SHORT. *TR
2007 SATURN OUTLOOK PASSENGER SIDE HEADLAMP CONNECTION HAS MELTED 3 LAMP HOUSINGS AND THIS TIME MELTED THE VEHICLE WIRING AND CAUGHT FIRE. *TR
HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS FAILURE. *KB
IN JUNE OF 2011 MY SATURN SUDDENLY STARTED STICKING IN 2ND GEAR ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. THERE WERE 37000 MILES N THIS VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO EXIT AND MAKE IT TO A GM DEALERSHIP WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A BROKEN 3-5WAVE PLATE WHICH WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. NOW 15 MONTHS LATER I WAS DRIVING AT 45 MILES PER HOUR AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY REVVED TO 5000RPM AND SLOWED TO ABOUT 10 MILES PER HOUR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A GM DEALERSHIP AND THE CONTROL MODULE AND SOLENOID VALVE NEED REPLACEMENT. THERE ARE NOW 52500 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND GM HAS MADE NO PLAN TO RECALL THE VEHICLE FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES. *TR
HEADLIGHTS OF ONE SIDE KEEPS FLICKERING ON AND OFF. SOMETIMES THEY DO NOT COME ON AT ALL. OCCURS EVERYNIGHT. WE JUST BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM STEVEN TOYOTA ON THIS PAST SATURDAY, 06/17/11, WHERE THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING TO HELP US. *TR
TRANSMISSION FAILED ON A STEEP HILL GOIN UP. ALMOST WAS REAR-ENDED. HAD TRANSMISSION REPLACED. 1/4/2013, NEW TRANSMISSION FAILED @ 135000 MILES. ONLY LASTED 44000 MILES AND 1YEAR AND HALF. FAILED GOING 70 MPH ON INTERSTATE, HAD TO PULL OVER PASS SPEEDING TRAFFIC, ALMOST GOT NAILED BY SEMI-TRUCK. GM NOT DOING ANYTHING BUT SORRY YOU ARE OUT OF LUCK! NICE SERVICE. GLAD WE BAILED THEM OUT. *TR
PASSENGER LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT, AND WIRING WAS FOUND TO BE MELTED, GM HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL AFTER MULTIPLE FAILURES,, AND NOW WONDERING IF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE IS SAFE AS IT COULD CATCH FIRE( WIRES GETTING HOT ENOUGH TO MELT INTO). *TR
HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. REPLACED WITH SAME TYPE OF BULB. BULB WAS OUT IN 4 DAYS. WIRING HARNESS COMPLETELY MELTED. GM HAS ALREADY ISSUED A 'TECH NOTICE' ON THIS EXTENSIVE PROBLEM, BUT THE DEALER REFUSED TO COVER THE REPAIR COST OF $400 BECAUSE IT ISN'T A RECALL. I'M SORRY, BUT REPLACEMENT OF A HEADLIGHT BULB THAT THEN BURNS UP THE WIRING HARNESS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. WHY ISN'T A FUSE TRIPPED IF THERE IS SOME ISSUE - ANY TIME ELECTRONICS MELT, THAT IS A BIG PROBLEM! IN ADDITION TO THE OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE OF NOT HAVING A HEADLIGHT WORKING, IS THERE POWER STILL GOING TO THE HARNESS? WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ARE FORCED TO CONTINUE DRIVING BEFORE GETTING THIS REPLACED? IS YOUR CAR GOING TO EVENTUALLY CATCH FIRE? THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY. BASED ON THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS I'VE SEEN WITH THE NHTSA , THIS SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN A FORCED RECALL.
THE FIRST INCIDENT INVOLVING STEERING OCCURRED WHEN I HIT A PUDDLE IN ROAD. I LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND ALSO HAD A WHINING IN STEERING COLUMN. I'VE HAD MULTIPLE INCIDENCES SINCE AND NOW HAVE LITTLE TO NO POWER STEERING. I'VE TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR MULTIPLE ISSUES INCLUDING THE STEERING ISSUES. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN AND GEAR AS WELL AS MOVED THE POWER STEERING CABLE. THIS PROVIDED A TEMPORARY FIX HOWEVER I HAVE LITTLE TO NO STEERING NOW AND AM OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAVE TAKEN TO MULTIPLE SHOPS AND AM BEING TOLD IT COULD BE PUMP OR STEERING COLUMN AGAIN. THE FIXES ARE BETWEEN $1400-2500 AND MAY DO ONE TO FIND THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE OTHER. IN RESEARCHING ONLINE I AM SURPRISED THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES AS WELL. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF OTHER GM PRODUCTS BEING RECALLED FOR SAME ISSUE BUT NOT THE OUTLOOK. THIS OCCURS AT LOW SPEEDS AND LOW RPMS, THIS MAKES FOR DANGEROUS CITY DRIVING. *TR
MY TRANSMISSION WENT ON MY WELL MAINTAINED 07 SATURN OUTLOOK ONE WEEK AFTER RECOMMENDED TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE. . INITIALLY GM TOLD ME THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. AT THIS TIME IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY . THEY DECIDED INSTEAD TO REPAIR IT. THIS DECEMBER THE TRANSMISSION WENT AGAIN, THIS TIME IT WAS THREE MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY SO GM WILL DO NOTHING . I FEEL IT IS RELATED TO THE INITIAL REPAIR . A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN WAS ISSUED RECOGNIZING A FAULTY TRANSMISSION PLATE WHICH WHEN IT BREAKS CAN DAMAGE OTHER PARTS . THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A HUMMING SOUND COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SOUND COULD BE HEARD AT ANY SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE TECHNICIANS STATED THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
FRONT AIR BAG IP LAMP IS INTERMITTENT AND WILL OFTEN SHOW OFF EVENT THOUGH THERE IS A 190 LB. PASSENGER IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. RECYCLING THE KEY, HAVING PASSENGER ENTER/EXIT VEHICLE RESULTS IN RANDOM STATE. I.E. SOMETIMES THE LIGHT IS ON AND WILL GO OFF AT RANDOM TIMES AND OTHER TIMES IS WILL SIMPLY REMAIN OFF EVEN WITH SOMEONE IN THE SEAT. DEALER FINDS NOTHING WRONG SINCE THERE IS NO DTC SET BUT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AS YOU NEVER KNOW IF THE FRONT AIR BAG WILL REALLY DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
IN MAY 2012 THE TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED, IT WAS REPLACED - $1700 ON DECEMBER 10TH THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, IT WAS REPLACED (ALONG WITH THE TORQUE CONVERTER-STILL UNDER WARRANTY) - $4235. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, HE DROVE THROUGH A PUDDLE OF WATER AND IMMEDIATELY THE POWER STEERING FAILED. 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH STEERING *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN, HE STRUCK A SMALL PUDDLE OF WATER IN THE MIDDLE OF A MAIN ROAD. AS HE WAS MAKING A TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL JOLTED OUT OF HIS HANDS AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO MAKE A LOUD NOISE. THE CONSUMER DROVE INTO A DITCH AS HE WAS UNABLE TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE LAST SECOND; HAVING TO USE ALL OF HIS STRENGTH TO KEEP FROM PLOWING FULLY INTO THE DITCH AND REAR EMBANKMENT. AFTER THE INCIDENT, THE CONSUMER HEARD A WHINING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN, WHICH WOULD COST $1000 TO REPLACE. *JB THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR FAILED SINCE THE LIGHT SHOULD NOT BE ILLUMINATED WHEN SOMEONE WAS IN THE SEAT. THE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER NOR WAS IT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 79,100.
DRIVER WAS DRIVING IN THE RAIN GOING APPROXIMATELY 35MPH. AS DRIVER SLOWED DOWN TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, THE STEERING COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AND THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE INTO THE GRASS WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. AFTER SITTING THERE A FEW MINUTES, DRIVER WAS ABLE TO GET CAR BACK ON ROAD AND DRIVE APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE TO A NEARBY RELATIVE'S HOUSE. HAD DRIVER BEEN GOING FASTER, IT IS ALARMING TO THINK WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED.
2007 SATURN OUTLOOK, HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS. I HAD MY WIRING HARNESS REPLACED ON 10/1/08 FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE LIGHT AND MY DRIVER SIDE REPLACED ON 5/10/10 AND NOW MY PASSENGER SIDE IS OUT AGAIN. HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS' SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN TWO YEARS. I HAVE YET TO GET THIS REPLACED BECAUSE IT IS COSTLY TO HAVE TO REPLACE THIS OFTEN. *TR
THE DRIVER SEAT ROCKS BACK AND FORTH LIKE A ROCKING CHAIR AND COULD POSSIBLY COME LOOSE FROM SEAT TRACK IN EVENT OF CRASH INJURING DRIVER. THIS CONDITION WAS FIRST TAKEN CARE OF ABOUT 1 1/2 YEARS AGO WITH A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FROM GM. THIS INSERTED A BOLT IN THE SEAT AND THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO CORRECT THE CONDITION. THE PROBLEM RETURNED AND THE BOLT INSERTED WAS ROLLING ON THE FLOOR OUT OF PLACE. TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND DEALER STATED THAT SEAT TRACK BECAME DAMAGED DUE TO BOLT (FROM TSB) AND THUS BOLT GAVE WAY ALLOWING SEAT TO NOT BE STABLE. THE SEAT TRACK MUST BE REPLACED TO CORRECT AT COST OF $750..SATURN HAS STATED THAT THEY WILL DO FOR $200 DEDUCTIBLE BUT SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY CONDITION AND IT WAS CAUSED BY A PREVIOUS GM SERVICE BULLETIN DIRECTLY...SATURN NEEDS TO DO AT NO CHARGE..ALL DRIVER POWER SEATS IN THIS CLASS SHOULD BE INSPECTED, ADJUSTED AND TRACKS REPLACED...AS NECESSARY AS THE BOLT IN THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FIXES A SYMPTOM BUT CAUSES MY PROBLEM AS STATED BY THE DEALER.
MY 2007 OUTLOOK EXPERIENCED HEADLIGHT OUTAGE AT APPROX. 32,000 MILES THE SATURN DEALER CHANGED THE MELTED HARNESS AND REPLACED THE BULB HERE WE ARE LESS THAT 4 MONTHS LATER AND I HAVE ANOTHER HEADLIGHT OUTAGE AND PAY $300 + TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO CHANGE THE MELTED WIRES AND REPLACE THE BULB. 3 MONTHS LATER WE ARE BACK TO THE HEADLIGHT BEING OUT AND THE DEALER READY TO CHARGE ME ANOTHER $300+ TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NOTED MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM BY MULTIPLE CONSUMERS IN VARIOUS STATES. I DON'T FEEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO KEEP PAYING FOR A PROBLEM THAT APPEARS TO BE WELL DOCUMENTED BY SATURN OUTLOOK OWNERS. I HAVE PLACED A CALL TO GM AND OF COURSE NO HELP FROM THEM ALL THEY WANT TO DO IS PUSH THE RESPONSIBILITY AND COST BACK TO THE CONSUMER. *TR
WIREING HARNESS FOR HEADLIGHTS MELTING. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK XE AND IN LATE 2009 MY DRIVER SIDE DIM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. WE REPLACED THE BULB TO NO AVAIL. MY HUSBAND CHECKED THE WIRES WHICH WERE BURNT UP AND REPLACED THEM. THE LIGHT WOULD WORK INTERMITTENTLY. FINALLY HE FIXED IT LONG ENOUGH TO MAKE IT LAST FOR ABOUT 6-8 MONTHS AND NOW IT IS OUT AGAIN. WHEN HE CHECKED IT THIS TIME HE NOTICED THAT THE WIRES WERE MELTED/BURNT AGAIN. HE HAS ONCE AGAIN FIXED THE PROBLEM AS BEST AS HE COULD. MY WARRANTY IS OUT AND WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER SO WE CONTINUE TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE AS BEST WE CAN. I HAVE CK'D ON WEBSITES AND NOTICED THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS ISSUE AND I BELIEVE SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. I AM ALSO HAVING COMPLETE WIRING PROBLEMS WITH THE REST OF THIS LEMON THAT I HAVE TO DRIVE. THE RADIO AND SPEAKERS WORK WHENEVER THEY WISH AND THE REMOTE START UP IS NOW INOPERABLE AS IT CHOOSES. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS SUV SINCE I BOUGHT IT, INCLUDING A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WHILE ON VACATION. I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE FOR A WHOLE WEEK WHILE IT WAS IN THE SHOP TO BE REPAIRED. THANK GOODNESS I STILL HAD A WARRANTY AT THAT TIME. *TR
MY 2007 OUTLOOK XR LEAKS WATER INSIDE OF IT AND IS MESSING UP THE ELECTRICAL STUFF IN IT. IT HAS STARTED TELLING ME TO HAVE THE AIRBAG SERVICED, SO NOW I AM WORRIED THAT IT WILL EITHER RANDOMLY GO OFF OR NOT GO OFF WHEN IT IS SUPPOSED TO. IT HAS TOLD ME THAT MY CAR WAS OVER HEATED WHEN I HAVE JUST STARTED IT. IT HAS CONTINUED TO KEEP RUNNING WHEN I HAVE TURNED THE KEY OFF AND REMOVED IT FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. I HAVE READ SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET FROM OTHER OWNERS. EDMUNDS WEBSITE HAS SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON THERE THAT YOU CAN READ. I HAVE CONTACTED GENERAL MOTOR OVER THIS MATTER BECAUSE THE WATER LEAKING IN IS FROM FACTORY DEFECTS. OTHER OWNERS HAVE TAKEN THEIR OUTLOOKS IN TO THE GENERAL MOTORS SERVICE CENTERS NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEIR OUTLOOKS CONTINUE TO LEAK. I HAD THE TOP OF MY OUTLOOK COVERED WITH PLASTIC AND WATER STILL LEAKED IN WHEN IT RAINED. I VACUUMED 6 GALLONS OF WATER OUT OF IT AND COULD NOT GET ALL OF THE WATER OUT, WHICH IS GOING TO LEAD TO IT MOLDING AND MILDEWING. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO PULL THESE UNSAFE VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN OUR TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SHIFT ERRATICALLY. WHEN WE WERE AT A STOP SIGN, I WENT TO PULL OUT AND RELIZED THAT WE HAD LOST THE FIRST 2 GEARS AND WERE ALMOST HIT BY AN ON COMING VEHICLE WHEN THE CAR FAILED TO MOVE AT THE RIGHT SPEED. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE DEALT WITH BEFORE SOME IS INJURED OR KILLED. *TR
PASSENGER HEADLIGHT WENT OFF AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WENT TO REPLACE BULB AND FOUND SOCKET WAS CHARRED AND BURNT. BULB WAS STILL GOOD, WHEN BENCH TESTED. THIS WAS THE OE BULB, NOT A HIGHER CURRENT/POWER AFTERMARKET BULB. CURRENTLY DRIVING WITH ONLY ONE HEADLIGHT, WHILE WAITING FOR DEALER TO GET ME A NEW HARNESS. OBVIOUSLY, GM IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, SINCE TSB #09-08-42-004 INSTRUCTS USING NYOGEL GREASE TO FILL THE SOCKET, I ASSUME FOR THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY OR CORROSION PROTECTION. SOCKET REPLACEMENT SHOULD BE DONE ON RECALL, AND DEALERS SHOULD KEEP HARNESS ON ORDER, SO I DON'T HAVE TO DRIVE WITH ONLY ONE HEADLIGHT. *TR
MY 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK PASSENGER PRESENCE SYSTEM IS NOT RECOGNIZING AN ADULT SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. BY THE VEHICLE NOT RECOGNIZING THE ADULT THE PASSENGERS AIRBAG IS NOT ARMED IN THE EVENT OF A FRONT END CRASH. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A GM DEALERSHIP WHO IS REPLACING THE PPS FOR $1000. HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND EXPENSIVE REPAIR. THE PPS WAS RECALLED IN 2008 BY VIN BUT MINE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THIS SHOULD BE RE-ADDRESSED. *TR

I HAVE A 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK XR, WHICH HAS HAD THE HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS REPLACED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IN 2009. NOW IN MARCH OF 2011 I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND ON MY WAY THERE JUST HAPPEN TO NOTICE THE HEADLIGHT WAS OUT. THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS THE SAME THING AS THE OTHER SIDE, THE WIRING WAS COMPLETELY MELTED AND THE WHOLE THING WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE MOST OF IT COVERED BY MY EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT I WAS STILL OUT MY DEDUCTIBLE AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE LIGHTBULB. WHEN I HAD THE FIRST HEADLAMP REPLACED THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD HAVE STARTED A FIRE. THIS SEEMS LIKE SOMETHING GM SHOULD BE AWARE OF AND SHOLD LOOK INTO, BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. I WAS ACTUALLY UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT THE FIRST DEALERSHIP, WHICH WAS A SATURN, REPLACED BOTH OF MY HEADLAMPS, BUT CHEVY IS INFORMING ME THAT IS NOT THE CASE. SO I AM NOT SURE WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE HEADLAMP INOPERABLE. WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR TO HEADLAMP BURNT/MELTED. GM HAS A TSB #09-08-42-004 ON THE ISSUE WHICH SHOULD BE UPGRADED TO A RECALL. THIS CONDITION COULD CAUSE A FIRE AND IS SAFETY RELATED SINCE IT AFFECTS THE HEADLAMP SYSTEM. *TR
HEADLIGHT HAS FAILED 3 TIMES. EACH TIME THE BULB MELTED THE HARNESS. THE FIRST TWO OCCASIONS WERE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE THIRD OCCASION WAS AT 63,000 AND WAS NOT COVERED AND WILL COST $415 TO REPAIR. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMP HAS GONE OUT. I HAVE TRIED TO CHANGE THE BULB ONLY TO FIND THAT IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO ACCESS. AFTER READING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE HEADLIGHTS I AM NOT ALONE IN MY PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT TAKEN MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE, BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE THE WIRE HARNESS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
