THE MORNING AFTER THE BLIZZARD I STARTED MY 2003 SATURN VUE WITH 20,000 MILES ON IT, I NOTICED A TICKING SOUND FROM ENGINE,I CONTINUED TO SHOVEL MY VUE OUT THINKING THE CAR IS COLD AND IT WILL BE OK . WELL THE SOUND DID NOT GO AWAY. CONCERNED I SHUT OFF CAR AND CALLED SATURN. TODAY I AM TOLD IT MIGHT BE A TIMING BELT TENSION THING . THEY ARE MAKING THE WARRANTY REPAIR AND WILL CALL ME TOMORROW WITH TEST DRIVE INFO. ? IS THIS DAMAGED MY ENGINE OR NOT. *NM
I HAVE BEEN HAVING CONTINUAL ALL WHEEL DRIVE ISSUES WITH MY 2003 SATURN VUE. IT HAS BEEN STUCK IN BOTH SAND AND SNOW OF MODERATE DEPTH AND BEEN UNABLE TO DRIVE OUT UNDER IT'S POWER. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALER A NUMBER OF TIMES AND NOW I AM TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM IS IN FACT A "SAFETY FEATURE". THE FEATURE NEARLY RESULTED IN A SERIOUS COLLISION WITH A SNOW PLOW WHEN MY VEHICLE BECAME STUCK IN ONLY 4" OF SNOW. I AM BEING TOLD BY OTHER VUE OWNERS THAT THEY HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH BOTH THE TRANSMISSION AND REAR DIFFERENTIAL BEARINGS. I BOUGHT AN ALL WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE AND PAID EXTRA FOR THIS FEATURE. I AM NOW SADDLED WITH VEHICLE THAT DOES NOT PERFORM AS ADVERTISED AND HAS ALREADY CAUSED A NEAR DISASTER. I HAVE REPORTED MY PROBLEM TO SATURN AND THE DEALER. A FORMAL FILE HAS BEEN STARTED. NO REPAIR HAS BEEN MADE SINCE SATRUN CLAIMS THIS TO BE A "SAFETY FEATURE" PER THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE FREDERICK SATURN DEALERSHIP. IT IS NOT SAFE AND WILL RESULT IN ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS. *JB
I HAVE KEPT TRACK MY GAS MILEAGE SINCE I BOUGHT MY VUE A YEAR AGO, AND HAVE NEVER BEEN SATISFIED WITH IT. I TOOK IT IN FOR AN ECONOMY TEST 3 MONTHS AGO AND WAS TOLD EVERYTHING WAS OKAY. SO, I LOGGED MY GAS MILEAGE FOR THE LAST 3 MONTHS AND BROUGHT IT IN FOR ANOTHER ECONOMY TEST. EVEN THOUGH I ONLY AVERAGED 20 MPG OVER THE 3 MONTHS (AND I DRIVE MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES), THEY STILL SAY I AM GETTING ADEQUATE GAS MILEAGE (THEY SAID THEY GOT 26 MPG WITH 35 MILES COMBINED HIGHWAY AND CITY). I PLACED A COMPLAINT WITH SATURN CORPORATE AND RECEIVED ONE PHONE CALL STATING THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. ALL I WAS TOLD WAS THAT WIND, COLD WEATHER, DRIVING HABITS AND THE VTI TRANSMISSION ALL PLAY A PART IN THE FUEL ECONOMY. THESE THINGS (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE VTI TRANSMISSION SINCE IT IS NEW) HAVE NEVER CAUSED A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL ECONOMY IN ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE OWNED (INCLUDING ANOTHER SATURN). *JB
I WAS NOTIFIED AUG., 2004 OF RECALL ON 2003 SATURN VUE. CALLED DEALER FOR DETAILS AND WAS TOLD THE RECALL WAS A "COURTESY", NOT A SAFETY PROBLEM. IT WAS FOR A SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM WITH THE REAR SUSPENSION. HEARD NOTHING UNTIL JAN. 05. I TOOK THE CAR IN AND POINTED OUT A RECURRING NOISE IN THE REAR. I WAS CONTACTED AND TOLD THE WHEEL BEARING WAS WORN (ONLY HAVE 24,000 MI. ON CAR). I PICKED UP CAR THE NEXT DAY - RECALL WORK COMPLETED, WHEEL BEARING REPLACED, TIRES ROTATED. DRIVING HOME, I NOTICED A DEFINITE VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL. TOOK IT BACK, THE TECH WHO TEST DROVE IT WITH ME AGREED THERE WAS A VIBRATION, SIMILAR TO A VIBRATING CHAIR. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG, "MIGHT" BE DUE TO INCREASED TIRE PRESSURE FROM RECALL. TOLD ME I COULD LET SOME AIR OUT OF THE TIRES, BUT THEN IT WOULDN'T BE SAFE. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR, MOST CENTERING ON THE STEERING. NOW I CAN'T DRIVE IT WITHOUT GETTING CARSICK! *NM
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE JERKED AND VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK VIBRATION WAS FELT AT SPEEDS OF 75 MPH. THE CONSUMER HEARD A GRINDING NOISE WHEN MAKING LEFT OR RIGHT TURN. REAR WHEELS LOCKING AND SKIPPING. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS BAD CAUSING VIBRATION AND DRAGGING OF WHEELS. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER PUT OUT A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN BUT FAILED TO ALERT THE CONSUMERS. TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN DATED 04/04 # 03-04-20-003A. *TC
HAVE TAKEN CAR TO DEALER MORE THAN ONCE FOR FOLLOWING ITEMS: (1) IGNITION DOES NOT RELEASE WHEN KEY REMOVED. THE FIRST TIME ALL THEY DID WAS MAKE A NEW KEY, TODAY (FEB 16, 2006) THEY CHANGED A SPRING ON THE 1ST "LEVEL". PROBLEM STILL EXISTS INTERMITTENT, AFTER I LEFT DEALER. FIRST REPORTED APX SEPT 2005. (2) MAJOR SKIDDING ON SLIGHT GRADES WHEN SUDDEN BRAKING. DEALERS MAINT FLUFFED IT OFF EACH TIME SAYING NOTHING WRONG. PROBLEM SINCE 2004. (3) WHEN SHIFTING DOWN FROM DRIVE TO PARK INTERMITTENT STICKING AT REVERSE POSITION, VERY SUBTLE BUT DEFINITELY NOT NORMAL. PROBLEM JUST STARTED (JAN 2006). DATE LISTED UNDER "INCIDENT DATE" WAS JUST TO BE ABLE TO INPUT INTO COMPUTER. THERE ARE 3 DIFFERENT ISSUES FROM DIFFERENT DATES AND YRS. ALL ARE APX. *JB
WHILE TRAVELING AT 60 MPH CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION, WHERE HE STRUCK A CEMENT BARRIER ON THE ROAD. UPON IMPACT,THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NO OTHER VEHICLES WAS INVOLVED, HOWEVER, CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS TOTALED.*AK
AFTER 45 MINUTES OF DRIVING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY AND POWER STEERING FAILED. FAILURE OF THE BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) AT 48,000 MILES. LOST THE POWER STEERING, INSTRUMENTS PANEL, AND SECURITY FEATURES. REPLACED THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. *JB
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE RAN OFF THE ROAD. CONSUMER DID NOT HIT ANYTHING, AND NOTHING HIT THE VEHICLE. UPON TRYING TO STEER THE VEHICLE BACK ONTO THE ROAD THE LEFT REAR WHEEL FELL OFF. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT BOTH REAR WHEELS FELL OFF. *TC
I WENT OUT TO START MY CAR. IT MADE A SOUND LIKE IT WAS A DIESEL TRUCK ENGINE. I HAD IT TOWED TO SATURN IN NORWOOD MA ON RT 1. IT WAS MY TIMING CHAIN. IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I AM JUST REPORTING THIS NOW BECAUSE I SAW YOU WERE INVESTIGATING THE BELTS ON OTHER SATURN'S. I READ THAT IT HADN'T EFFECTED THE VUE BUT I WANTED YOU TO KNOW IT DOES. I AM LOOKING UP PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR BECAUSE I HAVE HAD SO MANY. THE INCIDENT DATE IS ESTIMATED. I PICK MY VUE UP(AGAIN) TODAY FROM THE DEALER I WILL GET A PRINT OUT OF THE EXACT DATE THIS OCCURRED. *JB
UPON ACCELERATION, THE VEHICLE WOULD SWERVE OFF OF THE ROAD. *SC THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS A FLAW IN THE 2003 MODEL BUT CORRECTED IN THE 2004 MODELS. *TC
WINDSHIELD WASHER SYSTEM DOES NOT ADEQUATELY DISPENSE FLUID TO CLEAN WINDSHIELD AND ALLOW FOR SAVE DRIVING. *NM
I WAS INVOLVED IN A ROLLOVER INCIDENT WITH MY 2003 SATURN VUE WHILE TRAVELING ON THE NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY. I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 55-60 MPH DUE TO RAIN AND WET ROADWAY. SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLIDE TO THE LEFT (MAY HAVE HYDROPLANED). I ATTEMPTED TO STEER OUT OF THE SLIDE AND THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE SWUNG AROUND CLOCKWISE. THE VEHICLE ROLLED AND LEFT THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE CAME TO REST ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IN THE AREA OFF THE RIGHT SHOULDER OF THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE INSURANCE APPRAISER THAT THE LEFT REAR SUSPENSION GAVE WAY AND THE LEFT REAR WHEEL AREA FOLDED UNDER. I HAD RECEIVED THE VOLUNTARY RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE REAR SUSPENSION BACK IN AUGUST. I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM THE SATURN DEALER SHORTLY THERE AFTER ADVISING ME TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP IN 3 WEEKS TO SCHEDULE THE WORK. I CALLED TO SCHEDULE THE WORK AS DIRECTED AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE PARTS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL JANUARY OF 2005, AND THAT I WOULD BE RECEIVING ANOTHER LETTER. I HAVE RECEIVED NOTHING FURTHER TO DATE.
CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO HAVE RECALL WORK DONE ON 2003 SATURN VUE, DUE TO PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. *TS THE CONSUMER ALSO ENCOUNTERED PROBLEMS WITH THE A/C FAILING TO WORK PROPERLY, MOLDING PEELING AWAY FROM THE STRUCTURE AND THE REAR SUSPENSION COLLAPSING WHICH CAUSED THE ROLL OVER. *SC
ON 11/19/2004 29,021 MILES. NOISE IN ENGINE AREA. SATURN REPLACED TRANSMISSION FLUID. WAS TOLD IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION. 9/12/2005 61,695 MILES. CAR WOULDN'T GO WHEN PUT INTO GEAR. ALL GEARS WERE TRIED. CONTACTED SATURN WAS TOLD TO GET IT TOWED IN AND THEY WOULD INSPECT IT. BROUGHT TO ATTENTION THAT THE LETTER I RECEIVED ABOUT THE VTI TRANSMISSION HAVING PROBLEMS AND AGAIN WAS TOLD IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO HAVE CAR TOWED IN. ALSO HAD TO RENT MY OWN CAR. WAS REIMBURSED BUT ONLY FOR A SMALL PORTION ON THE RENTAL CAR COST AND NOTHING FOR THE TOW. FINALLY GOT MY CAR BACK ON 9/21/2005. 5/31/2006 89,412 MILES. AGAIN CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST AS I WILL NOT GO BACK TO SATURN. ANOTHER TRANSMISSION WAS PUT IN ANOTHER VTI AS NO OTHER TRANSMISSION CAN BE PUT IN THIS CAR. THIS ONE AT MY EXPENSE. 9/26/2006 105,000. CAR LOST POWER ON A CANYON ROAD HAD TO PULL OVER AND BE TOWED. WAS TOLD TRANSMISSION OVERHEATED AND WAS NOW RUNNING FINE. 2/8/2007 117,000 MILES. HERE WE GO AGAIN THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. WHEN WILL A RECALL BE ISSUED. HOW MANY PEOPLE NEED TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS UNSAFE AND SHODDY TRANSMISSION. PLEASE HELP. I CANNOT AFFORD ANOTHER TRANSMISSION. *NM
SATURN IS STALLING ABOUT FIXING THE RECALL WORK ON MY UNSAFE 2003 SATURN VUE.*AK
FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE WARRANTY TRANSMISSION HAS CONTINUED TO MAKE HORRIBLY LOUD AND ANNOYING GRINDING AND WHIRRING SOUNDS THAT CONTINUE TO GET WORSE AND WORSE. I HAVE HAD THE TRANSMISSION IN 8 TIMES AND THE PROBLEM REMAINS. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO EVOKE THE LEMON LAW, BOTH CORPORATE AND THE DEALER WERE EXTREMELY BELLIGERANT AND UNCOOPERATIVE--DENYING THAT ANY PROBLEM EXISTED. THIS IS DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WAS SO SEVERE THAT SATURN STOPPED PRODUCTION ON THE VUE WITH CTI TRANSMISSION AND HAS MADE THE DECISION NOT TO CONTINUE TO USE IT AFTER THIS YEAR'S MODEL END. IMMEDIATGELY UPON EVOKING THE LEMON LAW, NOT ONLY DID CORPORATE REFUSE TO HONOR IT, BUT ORPORATE TOLD THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP NOT TO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH FIXING MY CAR WITHOUT THEIR APPROVAL.*AK
THE 2003 SATURN VUE ,,,HAS A FRON END SUSPENSION ...THAT HAD NOT BEEN RECALLD FOR THE FRONT END OF MY SATURN HAD INUMERUS PARTS REPLACED ...NOT ONLY ONE TIME BUT MORE THAN 5 TIMES, EACH PART WAS REPLACED ... SATURN DONT HELP ,,,NEITHER MY ATTORNEY GENERAL OFFICE . PLEASE LOOK ON CUSTOMER SURVEYS SITE AND YOU WILL SEE THA A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME POBLEM .....THAT ONE DAY WILL CAUSE A FATALITY...... ALSO MY AXLE JUST BROKEN ON THE HAYWAY ,,,MY CAR ONLY HAVE 38.000 MILES. *AK
I OWN A 2003 SATURN VUE V-6 AWD. WE HAVE HAD THE FRONT TORSION SUPPORT BARS REPLACED 4 TIMES WITHIN A YEAR OF OWNING THIS VEHICLE. WE ARE NOT SATISFIED WITH THIS AT ALL. THERE MUST BE ANOTHER PROBLEM THAT IS CAUSING THE TORSION SUPPORT BAR TO GO BAD. 4 TIMES IN A YEAR, THERE IS A PROBLEM THERE. ALL REPAIRS HAVE BEEN UNDER WARRANTY. WE ARE NOW TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK AGAIN FOR WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE SAME THING . SATURN ASSURES US THEY HAVE A AREA MANAGER MONITORING OUR CONCERN. *NM
WHEN CONSUMER STOP FOR RED LIGHT, THEN STEP ON ACCELERATOR, CAR HESITATES THEN LURCHES FORWARD ABRUPTLY. *BF WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH THE CONSUMER HEARD A HUMMING NOISE AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DECREASED IN SPEED TO AROUND 30 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPROGRAMMED THE SOFTWARE. THREE WEEKS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. NOW THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION IS HAVING PROBLEMS. *NM
COOLANT LIGHT APPEARS & I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR MORE THEN 5 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, THE CAR LEAKS, THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM, THE COOLANT IS MIXING WITH THE OIL. THE HOSE HAS BEEN REPLACED & THE ENGINE HAS BEEN PULLED OUT FROM THE CAR, BUT THEY STILL COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM HAS STARTED IN OCTOBER 2002, & ITS NOW SEPTEMBER 2004 & THE DEALER STILL CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. *AK
CONSUMER STATED VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK INTO REVERSE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.
ON 5/1/04, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SATURN SERVICE BECAUSE THE FUEL GUAGE READ THAT THE TANK WAS 3/4 FULL AFTER VEHICLE WAS FILLED UP. THE SENDING UNITS WERE REPLACED. *AK ON 6/28/04 THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE BECAUSE THE FUEL GUAGE READ THAT IT WAS ABOUT 1/8 FULL WHEN THERE WAS LESS THAN 1 GALLON OF FUEL IN THE 15 GALLON TANK. SATURN SERVICE CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND SAID THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL GUAGE. ON 9/8/04 DURING RUCH HOUR, I WAS TRAVELLING AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE FREEWAY WITH MY 8 WEEK OLD SON WHEN THE VEHICLE RAN OUT OF GAS. THE GUAGE READ THAT THERE WAS ALMOST 1/4 TANK OF FUEL LEFT. I WAS STRANDED IN THE FAST LANE DURING RUSH HOUR ON A 106 DEGREE DAY WITH AN 8 WEEK OLD INFANT BECAUSE THE FUEL GUAGE ON MY SATURN VUE DID NOT READ THE AMOUNT OF FUEL LEFT IN THE TANK. TWO HIGHWAY PATROL OFFICERS HAD TO CLOSE THE FREEWAY AND PUSH THE VEHICLE OFF THE FREEWAY. WITHOUT THEIR IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE, THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. ON 9/9/04 SATURN SERVICE CHECKED THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND SAID THAT THERE WAS NOT A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL GUAGE AND THE TANK HAD 2.5 GALLONS LEFT OF FUEL. ONLY WHEN A SERVICE TECHNICIAN DROVE THE CAR AND WAS STRANDED WHEN IT RAN OUT OF GAS DID THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TAKE THE CLAIM SERIOUSLY.
CAR HAS NUMEROUS NOISES WHICH DEALER SAYS THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT. THE MAIN NOISE IRRITANT SOURCE IS THE STEERING COLUMN. TECHNICIAN DROVE CAR WITH ME AND STATED THAT SATURN HAS A ELECTRONIC/MECHANICAL COMPONENTS THAT MAKE GEAR-WINDING NOISES AND CAN'T BE REPAIRED. DEALER REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.*AK
TURN SIGNAL FAILED. THE CONSUMER REPLACED THE BULBS BUT WITHIN A WEEK THEY BURNED OUT AGAIN. *AK THE CONSUMER THEN COMPLAINED TO THE DELAER WHO REPLACED THE RESISTOR AND BULBS. *NM
WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD COLLISION. AS RESULT OF THE COLLISION REAR SUSPENSION COLLAPSED. INSURANCE COMPANY INDICATED TO THE CONSUMER VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED. CONSUMER HAS PICTURE OF THE ACCIDENT. *AK
SECOND COMPLAINT: ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE WORK, AT BUSY INTERSECTION ATTEMPTED TO PULL INTO INTERSECTION. VUE HESITATED, DROPPED ALL POWER, RPM'S STUCK AT ABOUT 4000 AGAIN, HAD ACCELERATOR PUSHED TO THE FLOOR AND IT ACTED LIKE IT WAS STALLING AND WOULD BARELY MOVE. DID THIS FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 SECONDS BEFORE IT FINALLY STARTED ACCELERATING AGAIN. LUCKILY OTHER DRIVERS CAME TO A STOP AND AVOIDED HITTING ME. THE SATURN VUE WITH VTI IS A DANGER ! THE ONLY FIX SATURN HAS FOR IT IS TO FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION, RECALIBRATE AND ADD TRANSMISSION ADDITIVE. THIS ONLY HELPS FOR ABOUT A WEEK OR SO AND IT STARTS AGAIN. I CAN NOT PARK IN GRAVEL, DIRT OR GRASS BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION WILL SHUT DOWN AND IT WILL NOT GO IN DRIVE. I CAN NOT PARK ON ANYTHING MORE THAN A 4% INCLINE OR THE TRANSMISSION WILL SHUT DOWN AND IT WILL NOT MOVE IN DRIVE. THESE VEHICLES NEED RECALLED AS THEY POSE A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD ON THE HIGHWAY. MY DAUGHTER AND I HAVE NARROWLY ESCAPED ACCIDENTS 3 TIMES IN THIS VEHICLE !*AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE HESITATED BEFORE ACCELERATING. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK

I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH MY 2003 VUE. FIRST, THE VTI TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO HESITATE AND OR SLIP WHEN ACCELERATING. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS, IT COMES AND GOES. IT ALSO SEEMS LOUDER THAT IT SHOULD BE WITH CLICKING NOISES, ESPECIALLY WHEN COLD. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS OK, I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. SECOND, THE HORN IS VERY HARD TO USE, MY WIFE DOES NOT LIKE TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE SHE DOES MOSTLY CITY DRIVING AND NEEDS A HORN. IT'S NOT BROKEN, JUST VERY DIFFICULT TO USE AND I THINK A POTENTIAL HAZARD. FINALLY THERE ARE MANY OTHER SQEAKS AND RATTLES THAT DRIVE ME CRAZY. THE HEADLINER AROUND THE SUNROOF ON THE DRIVERS SIDE RATTLES A LOT. ALSO THE REAR TRUNK/LIFTGATE SQUEEKS AND AFTER CLOSER EXAMINATION I SAW THAT THE INSIDE PLASTIC WAS COMING APART FROM THE REAR TRUNK/LIFTGATE. I PUSHED IT BACK TOGETHER, BUT I THINK IT LOOSENS EVERYTIME I CLOSE THE TRUNK/LIFTGATE. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO THE VEHICLE CONCERNING THESE PROBLEMS. *AL
'03 SATURN VUE 4 VTI PURCHASED 6/03. SOON AFTER, FAILED TO GO IN DRIVE AT WORK. WOULD GO IN REVERSE BUT NOT MOVE IN DRIVE. SATURN GARAGE (LESS THAN A MILE FROM MY EMPLOYER) & SERVICE MANAGER & A TECH. CAME & DROVE IN REVERSE UNTIL FINALLY WENT IN DRIVE. TOOK TO GARAGE. THEY FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION & TOP OFF FLUIDS. TOOK VEHICLE HOME & LATER LEAVING WORK, CAR WAS STUCK & WOULD NOT GO IN DRIVE. IT DID NOT MOVE & FRONT WHEELS DID NOT TURN. COWORKERS PUSHED ME UNTIL IT STARTED TO MOVE SLUGGISH IN DRIVE. IT SPUTTERED DOWN THE ROAD TO THE GARAGE. EACH TIME I TRIED TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP THE CAR WOULD HESITATE, ALMOST STALL FOR SEVERAL SECONDS & RMP'S STUCK AT 4000. THEY FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION, RECALIBRATED & ADDED TRANSMISSION ADDITIVE. I TOOK THE CAR HOME & WHILE I WAS PULLING INTO THE BUSIEST INTERSECTION IN NORTH CENTRAL WV IT FAILED TO ACCELERATE, RPM'S STUCK AT 4000 & SPUTTERED THRU THE INTERSECTION AT 10 MPH, OTHER VEHICLES HAD TO BRAKE HARD TO AVOID A REAR END COLLISION. I WAS SCARED & DAUGHTER WAS CRYING IN THE BACK AS OTHER DRIVERS BLEW HORNS & GAVE OBSCENE GESTURES. BACK TO GARAGE THE NEXT MORNING. TRANSMISSION FLUSHED, RECALIBRATED, ADDITIVE ADDED. 7/18/04 ON A BUSY HIGHWAY IN PA (INTERSTATE 279) DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC,TRIED TO ACCELERATE, RPM'S STUCK AT 4000, SLOWED TO 50MPH & OTHER VEHICLES SLAMMED ON BRAKES BEHIND ME. HAD ACCELERATER TO FLOOR & IT SPUTTERED FOR 1MILE AT 50MPH. PUMPED ACCELERATOR SEVERAL TIMES, FINALLY CAME OUT OF 4000RPM & STARTED TO REGAIN SPEED. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD TO REGAIN COMPOSURE BEFORE CONTINUING ON. 8/10/04, I HAVE ANOTHER APPT. TO HAVE TRANSMISSION LOOKED AT. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR. CONTACTED SATURN & GEORGIA MCCONVILLE OF CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER CONTACTED THE LOCAL SERVICE DEPT. SHE ADVISED IN HER REPLY "WE NEED TO GIVE RON (SERVICE MANAGER) THE OPPORTUNITY TO ADDRESS ANY ISSUES YOU ARE CURRENTLY HAVING. CERTAINLY IF THIS VISIT DOES NOT ADDRESS THE CONCERN PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT US." *AK
INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED. THIS CAUSED POOR VISIBILITY TO THE DRIVER. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE , AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE BODY CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND REPLACED IT. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED , AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH ON A RAINY DAY CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN THE SPEED, BUT THE BRAKES FAILED. VEHICLE ROLLED DOWN TWICE, AND LANDED UPSIDE DOWN ON AN EMBANKMENT. UPON IMPACT, AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES.*AK
BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS (RAIN) CAR HIT SIDE GUARD ON HIGHWAY, REAR WHEEL SNAPPED OFF CAUSING ROLL OVER - RESULTED IN INJURY TO DRIVER - CAR TOTALLY DESTRYOED. *JB
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY VEHICLE COMMENCED TO LOSE POWER FROM 50 MPH TO LESS THEN 5 MPH. VEHICLE WAS TOW TO THE DEALER, WHO INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO TRANSMISSION SENSOR STICKING, WHICH OVERHEATED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. DEALER REPLACED THE VALVE BODY AND THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. *AK
PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION ON 2003 SATURN VUE. *MR THE CONSUMER WAS BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY ONTO HE MAIN ROAD AND THE VEHICLE DIED IN THE STREET. TWO DAYS LATER THE CONSUMER FOUND THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A TRANSMISSION. SIX WEEKS LATER THE CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END. HAD VERY SIGNIFICANT SWAYING BACK & FORTH WHILE TRAVELING ON I-95 AT 70 MPH ON 4 OR 5 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. DIDN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME BUT DID HAPPEN GOING DOWN TO FL AND ALSO RETURNING BACK FROM FL. ONLY NOTICEABLE AT HIGH SPEEDS.*AK

AFTER REGULAR PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE, 2003 SATURN VUE HAS CONTINUOUSLY EXPERIENCED TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS FROM 10,000 POINT ON. VEHICLE WHILE JUST TRAVELING DOWN A ROAD AT 30-40 MPH), DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY INTO HIGHER GEAR , MAKES LOUD GRINDING NOISES WHILE TURNING AND ACCELERATING AND OTHERWISE FAILS TO OPERATE PROPERLY TRANSMISSION WAS LOOKED AT BY DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AVOIDING THE ISSUE OF TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. PROBLEMS CONTINUE AFTER SERVICING. HAVE READ EXTENSIVE REPORTS AND COMPLAINTS INVOLVING SATURN VUE VT1 TRANSMISSION. SATURN NEEDS TO HAVE A RECALL - IT'S CONSUMERS CAN'T AFFORD ALL OF THESE REPAIRS FOR WHAT IS CLEARLY A FAULTY TRANSMISSION THAT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED! VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, FORCING CONSUMER TO PULL VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE, AND IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. *AK
BARK ON 5/15/2004 I NOTICED THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE ON OUR 2003 SATURN VUE WITH UNEVEN WEAR. THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS ALSO BUT NOT AS BAD. TOOK CAR INTO SATURN THEY SAID WE MUST HAVE HIT SOMETHING AND BENT SOME PART OF THE REAR SUSPENSION CAUSING THE TIRE TO GO OUT OF ALINEMENT. MY WIFE DRIVES THIS CAR AND DOESN'T REMEMBER HITTING THING LET ALONE SOMETHING THAT COULD BEND METAL. THEY CHARGE US $324.63 TO REPAIR AND REPLACE ONE TIRE. THEY SAID THAT WARRENTEE DID NOT COVER THIS. NOW I SEE THAT A TEST CAUSED THE REAR SUSPENTION TO BEND AND THEY HAVE A RECALL. THEY WON'T TELL ME WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO DO, AND I NOT REALLY SURE JUST WHAT THEY REPLACED LAST TIME, THIS MIGHT BE RELATED? I STILL NEED TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SIDE TIRE, AS SOON AS I CAN AFFORD A NEW ONE, BUT I THINK THIS MIGHT BE RELATED TO THE RECALL. IF SO IS SATURN LIABLE FOR THE PAST REPAIRS? NORMAL DRIVE ABOUT 45 MPH ON 4 LANE HIGHWAY. WITH NO NOTICE THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO DISENGAGE. WE HAD POWER AND STEPPING ON THE GAS MADE PLENTY OF REVE BUT WE WERE NOT GOING ANYWHERE. LUCKILY THE CAR HAD ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. NO ACCIDENTS TODAY, BUT IF I HAD BEEN ON MY WAY TO WORK USING THE WASHINGTON DC CAPITAL BELTWAY WE MAY NOT HAVE BEEN SO LUCKY.*AK

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2003 SATURN VUE. UNFORTUNATELY SHORTLY THERE AFTER I HEARD ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH THEIR CTV OR VTI AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. THIS TRANSMISSION DEVELOPED BY HONDA USES A DRIVE BELT THROUGH PULLEYS FOR ITS OPERATION. IF THIS BELT FAILS THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT FUNCTION AT ALL, BECAUSE THE DRIVE SYSTEM STOPS.OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IF THE BELT SNAPS YOUR CAR COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP.WHETHER CITY OR HIGHEWAY DRIVING ITS A DANGEROUS THING. ITS UNSETTLING AND AT THIS POINT I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING THE CAR. GM YANKED THE FUEL-SAVING GEARBOX FROM PRODUCTION IN JANUARY BECAUSE OF DURABILITY PROBLEMS WITH THE STEEL BELT INSIDE THE GEARBOX THAT CONNECTS TO PULLEYS. INSTALLATION OF THE CVT RESUMED IN MARCH ON THE ION COUPE AND SHOULD RESUME IN MAY WITH THE VUE SUV. THE NEW WARRANTY COVERS ALL CVT-EQUIPPED SATURNS PRODUCED SINCE THE SUMMER OF 2002, A TOTAL OF ABOUT 82,000.*AK
I HAVE HAD MY 2003 VUE FOR ABOUT 1 1/2 YEARS. IN THAT TIME I HAVE HAD AN UNEXPLAINABLE RATTLE IN THE HEAD LINER, DESIGN FLAW IN THE SUNROOF/MOONROOF, GAS GUAGE SENSOR REPLACED, THERMOSTAT REPLACED, SLIPPING TRANSMISSION, "FLAME OUTS" WHEN TRYING TO START THE ENGINE RESULTING IN FLOODING, "JUMPING" TO THE RIGHT AT ACCELERATION FROM A STOP, HEAT BLOWING OUT OF THE VENTS DURING THE SUMMER WHEN THE FAN IS SHUT OFF AND TEMP IS ON COLD, AND THIS WEEK A DAZZLING DISPLAY OF INDICATOR LIGHTS AND GUAGES AND DASH LIGHTS RANDOMLY TURNING ON AND OFF WITH THE EVENTUAL LOSS OF POWER STEERING. AND I THOUGHT MY TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH MY TAHOE WERE BAD? WE PURCHASED THE VUE FOR OUR DAUGHTER TO DRIVE WHEN SHE TURNS 16. I FEEL THAT THIS CAR WILL NOT BE SAFE FOR HER TO DRIVE. I AM VERY CONCERNED WITH STORIES I AM HEARING ABOUT THE AIRBAGS FAILING, ABS FAILING, STEERING FAILING. THIS COULD BE FATAL FOR AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER.*AK
OCCASIONALLY, SOMETIMES FREQUENTLY, (I CAN GO A MONTH WITHOUT IT HAPPENING), I STEP ON THE BRAKES AND JUST BEFORE THE FINAL STOP, THERE IS A LOUD GROANING SOUND AND THEN THE BRAKES LET THE CAR ROLL FORWARD A LITTLE MORE BEFORE THEY GRAB FOR THE FINAL STOP. I CAN FEEL THE PEDAL PUSHING BACK AGAINST MY FOOT. I HOLD CONSTANT PRESSURE ON THE PEDAL, BUT THE CAR STILL ROLLS FORWARD SLIGHTLY NO MATTER HOW HARD I PUSH. TWICE, THE CAR HAS ACTUALLY GONE INTO AN INTERSECTION SEVERAL FEET MORE THAN I EXPECTED IT TO. MY HUSBAND WAS WITH ME FOR ONE OF THOSE INCIDENTS. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES. ON EACH TRIP, THEY TELL US THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. WE FINALLY JUST TOLD THEM TO DO A COMPLETE BRAKE JOB AND PAID $500 FOR THAT WORK. LAST WEEK-END, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. CAN THIS BE AN EXAMPLE OF THE PROBLEM BEING INVESTIGATED BY NHTSA ACTION NUMBER : PE05020?
TWICE (JULY/2003 AND APRIL/2004) MY SATURN VUE VTI TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED. IN APRIL, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED IN HIGHWAY DRIVING. WAS MOVING ALONG ABOUT 55 MPH IN MODERATE STATE HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND THE TRANSMISSION STARTED GRINDING AND VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. WAS NOT ABLE TO RECOVER ANY POWER. IN 2003, I WAS ABLE TO DROP THE SHIFTER INTO A LOWER GEAR (I) WHICH INCREASED POWER TO THE POINT WHERE I COULD CONTROL VEHICLE. SATURN'S SOLUTION IS TO EXTEND WARRANTY BUT I HAVE REAL CONCERNS.
AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY VEHICLE DRIFTED ONTO THE GRASSY SHOULDER. WITHOUT HITTING MY BRAKES, I STEERED BACK ONTO THE ROAD. THE REAR END OF MY VEHICLE FISH-TAILED SLIGHTLY. AS THIS WAS HAPPENING, THE DRIVER'S BACK WHEEL BENT UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE CAUSING IT TO ROLL OVER, PASSENGER SIDE FIRST, ONTO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. DURING THE ROLL-OVER, NONE OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, BOTH DRIVER- SIDE TIRES BLEW, BOTH AXLES BENT, THE TOPS OF THE PASSENGER-SIDE DOORS CRUMPLED, THE PASSENGER-SIDE WINDOWS SHATTERED, AND THE ROOF CRUMPLED LIKE A CRUSHED ALUMINUM CAN. I RECEIVED NUMEROUS INJURIES, INCLUDING NECK/BACK/SHOULDER STRAINS, BROKEN RIBS AND DAMAGE TO MY RIGHT KNEE AND ANKLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND DETECTED A TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE DEALER PREVIOUSLY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION ONE YEAR PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT AND DEALER WERE WAITING FOR THE WARRANTY COMPANY TO DETERMINE IF THE VEHICLE WOULD POSSIBLY BE HONORED UNDER THE SERVICE WARRANTY COVERAGE BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION REPAIR WAS PERFORMED AT THE EXPENSE OF THE OWNER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000.
