TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 SATURN VUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS UNABLE TO PLACE HER KEY IN THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 145,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 SATURN VUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE LOW POWER LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 14V047000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. ON 11/13/2013, I STARTED MY CAR AND THERE WAS A HORRIBLE SOUND AND IT STALLED. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE PEOPLE WHO USUALLY WORKED ON MY VEHICLE. I DID NOT TAKE IT TO A DEALER, AS I COULD NOT AFFORD A DEALER. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN AS THEY COULD HEAR IT WHIPPING AROUND WHEN THEY TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE. THEY ADVISED ME THAT WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT DAMAGES THE ENGINE. I CALLED A HYUNDAI DEALER AS HYUNDAI IS THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM. I WAS TOLD THAT WHEN THIS HAPPENS WITH THE TIMING CHAIN IT DOES DAMAGE THE ENGINE AND THAT IT WOULD COST $4000-$7000 TO HAVE THE ENGINE REPLACED. AT NO TIME WAS I TOLD I COULD BRING IT IN AND HAVE IT EVALUATED. I ONLY KNOW THAT I SPOKE WITH SOMEONE THERE AND HE FELT THAT THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IF I HAD USED THE DEALERSHIP ALL ALONG. I AM ON LIMITED INCOME AND CAN'T AFFORD A LOT SO AFTER CHECKING PLACES WHO COULD BUY THE CAR FROM ME I FOUND SOMEONE WHO WOULD GIVE ME $400 FOR THE VEHICLE. AT NO TIME WHEN I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 8/2007 WAS I TOLD THAT THERE WAS A TIMING CHAIN ISSUE. THEY WOULD NOT TELL ME BECAUSE THEY KNEW I WOULD NOT BUY THE VEHICLE IF THEY DID. ALL GM SAYS IS THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THERE WAS NO RECALL BUT BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD HAVE BEEN AWARE THAT THERE WAS A TIMING CHAIN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM INVOLVED WITH THE VEHICLE I WAS PURCHASING. THIS DEFINES NEGLECT: HAVING KNOWLEDGE OR SHOULD HAVE HAD KNOWLEDGE OF A PROBLEM AND NOT ADVISING THE PURCHASER OF SAID PROBLEM. THEREFORE, HYUNDAI SHOULD HAVE KNOWN (AS IT IS A GM DEALERSHIP) OR DID KNOW THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND FAILED TO ADVISE ME, THE BUYER, AND I WAS HARMED BY THIS NEGLIGENCE. I AM STILL PAYING ON SOME OF THE WORK I HAD DONE ON THIS VEHICLE. I FEEL I SHOULD BE COMPENSATED IN SOME WAY. *TR
FRONT END FRAME RAILS LEFT AND RIGHT RUSTED OUT BY THE ENGINE CRADLE ATTACHMENT POINTS TO RAILS, BOTH RAILS MUST BE REPLACED PART # 15842675 , 10367494, PART ARE N.L.A. !!. TRIED TO FIGHT THE RUST FOR FEW YEARS ALREADY, NO LUCK, IT TOOK ONLY 4 YEARS SINCE FIRST SIGN OF RUST, MILAGE - 115K, GARAGED ALL THE TIME,
WAS DRIVING ONE DAY, AND I NOTICED THAT IT WAS RUNNING DIFFERENT. WHEN I WOULD COME TO A STOP, THEN PRESS THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE. IT WOULD TAKE A WHILE TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. IT RAN LIKE THAT THE FIRST DAY. THE NEXT DAY WHEN LEAVING MY HOME, IT WOULDN'T SHIFT INTO GEAR. IT FINALLY MOVED AFTER TRYING A FEW TIMES, THEN STOPPED AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP TO FIND OUT THE PROBLEM. TURNS OUT THAT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. *TR

ON 4 OCCASIONS,...I WENT TO OPEN MY DRIVERS' SIDE DOOR.IT WOULD NOT OPEN. I HAD TO ROLL MY WINDOW DOWN (POWER WINDOWS) TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE.I TOOK MY VEHICLE BACK EACH TIME,...IT WORKS FOR A FEW DAYS,...THEN I CANNOT OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE.AT ONE POINT THIS WEEK,..MY WINDOW GOT STUCK,..AND I COULD NOT GET MY ARM THRU IT TO REACH THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE TO GET OUT OF MY VEHICLE.THIS IS A DEATH TRAP !!!!! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 SATURN VUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT ENGINE MOUNT WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS AN EIGHT INCH RUST HOLE OF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE CRADLE AND MULTIPLE SMALL RUST AREAS THROUGHOUT THE ENGINE CRADLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN, BUT THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 132,404.
WHILE I WAS OUT RUNNING ERRANDS I WAS COMING UP TO MAIN INTERSECTION ON THE HIGHWAY & LOST ALL POWER. ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT I HAD NO POWER AT ALL. IT STOPPED SHIFTING. I WAS FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF ROAD BEFORE IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I WAS STRANDED THERE FOR AN HOUR BEFORE ANYONE COULD COME GET ME. I ENDED UP HAVING TO HAVE IT TOWED. THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. I AM A SINGLE WOMAN IN THE SOUTH WITH NO IMMEDIATE FAMILY IN THIS STATE. I HAD NO WAY TO GET TO WORK FOR 2 WEEKS AND NO INCOME TO RENT A CAR. EVERYTHING THAT I HAVE READ ONLINE, IN CAR FORUMS AND ON COMPLAINT BOARDS SAY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. IF SO, WHY HASN'T GM HAD A RECALL ON THESE TRANSMISSIONS? I HAD TO HAVE A REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION INSTALLED AT A GM DEALERSHIP THAT COST ME $4200.00 THAT I DID NOT HAVE. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY WORTH $3100, AT BEST, AT KELLY BLUE BOOK. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE? *TR
2003 SATURN VUE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND CONSUMER SEEKS REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS. *SMD THE REPAIR SHOP STATED THE TRANSMISSION HAD DISINTEGRATED AND IT COULD NOT BE RE-BUILT. TEN DAYS AFTER THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED FOLLOWED BY THE LOSS OF POWER LIGHT, AT WHICH TIME THE VEHICLE DANGEROUSLY SLOWED DOWN TO 10 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE REPAIR SHOP, WHERE THEY REPLACED THE ELECTRONIC ACCELERATOR PEDAL UNIT AT THEIR EXPENSE, WHICH WAS A KNOWN SATURN FACTORY SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS FINE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS, THEN THE PROBLEM RETURNED. IT WAS TOWED BACK TO THE REPAIR SHOP AGAIN. THE REPAIR SHOP PERFORMED AN EXTENSIVE DIAGNOSTICS, BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND A DEFINITIVE SOURCE. THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN, AFTER RETRIEVING THE VEHICLE. THE REPAIR SHOP HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO ANOTHER FACILITY. HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE.
THE VUE HAS LOST POWER MULTIPLE TIMES WITH NO WARNING! 3 TIMES WHILE DRIVING IN THE FREEWAY WITH MY 3 CHILDREN!!! I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR WITH MULTIPLE MECHANICS, INVESTED ABOUT 2,700 TRYING TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH NO LUCK. I'M OUT CAR,MY JOB HAS BEEN AFFECTED BECAUSE OF MY CONTINUES TADIES THANKS TO THE CAR STOPPING AT RANDOM TIMES. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS IT RANDOMLY STOPS ANYTIME ANYWHERE, IT'S A ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I'M LOW INCOME HARD WORKING AMERICAN WHO HAD SPENT A LOT OF MONEY ON THIS CAR. I HAVE A SATURN VUE 2003 SOMEONE WAS SITTING IN PASSENGER THEY THOUGHT I HAD MY CAR IN PARK AND THEY TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR AND WHEN I PUT MY CAR IN PARK THE PASSENGER DOOR WONT OPEN FROM INSIDE SO I WENT OUT AND TRIED TO OPEN THE PASSENGER FROM THE OUTSIDE. I WAS ABLE TO OPEN WITH THE REMOTE NOW I CAN'T GET IT TO OPEN WITH THE REMOTE IT HAS TO DO WITH SECURITY SYSTEM. *TR
MUCH REGRET I EVER PURCHASED THIS SATURN VUE 2003, I LEFT MY HOME YESTERDAY WAS LEFT STRANDED IN THE ROAD AS THE TRANSMISSION STARTED FELT LIKE SKIPPING AND WHEN I HAD TO STOP FOR A VEHICLE COMING IN THE ROAD IT WOULDN'T DRIVE AT ALL! WOULDN'T GO IN GEAR FOR THE DRIVE OR REVERSE!! SO SOMEONE CALLED A SHERIFF. I THEN CALLED A FRIEND WHO HAD TO COME AND PUSH VEHICLE OUT OF ROAD TRAFFIC. THIS TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED IN 2010 IT'S AS IF IT WAS NEVER DONE! THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION FOR WORK SO NEEDLESS TO SAY I AM OUT OF WORK YESTERDAY, AND TODAY!!! CALLING SATURN SERVICE AT 7:30 AM SURE THEY ARE GOING TO JUMP RIGHT ON IT (SARCASM). THE PAST MONTH THE ELECTRICAL WILL BLINK ON AND OFF. THEN AFTER A WHILE OF DRIVING IT GOES COMPLETELY OUT. UNTIL THE NEXT DRIVE THEN THE BLINKING STARTS. I HOPE NO ONE HAS A YOUNG NEW DRIVER ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THESE VEHICLES. THEY ARE BY NO MEANS SAFE!!! MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ABLE TO HANDLE WHAT I WENT THROUGH WITH THIS VEHICLE YESTERDAY. IT WOULD HAVE PUT A YOUNG FEMALE AT RISK!!! I DO NOT HAVE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO SINK INTO THIS VEHICLE I STILL OWE $7,000 ON AN UNDRIVEABLE VEHICLE. I AM A HOMEOWNER WITH A MORTGAGE AND A SINGLE PARENT THAT WORK HOURS HAVE BEEN CUT BACK DRASTICALLY AT WORK. THE TRANSMISSION OF THIS VEHICLE HAS CAUSED A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ALREADY, BUT THEY ARE STILL BEING SOLD WITH THESE HORRIBLE TRANSMISSIONS. I BOUGHT MY 2003 VUE LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AGO AND WHILE I WAS DRIVING AROUND TO RUN ERRANDS MY TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT GO IN GEAR IN ORDER TO DRIVE. IT WOULD GO IN REVERSE, BUT NOT FORWARD. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
SATURN NOTIFIED ME THAT MY SATURN VUE VTI TRANSMISSION HAD A PROBLEM AND OFFERED TO REPAIR IT FOR 1/2 PRICE OR GIVE ME A CREDIT TOWARDS A NEW CAR. I DECIDED TO HAVE IT REPAIRED ON 8/17/2011 AT A GM DEALER. AFTER 20 MONTHS AND 27,000 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION BROKE AGAIN. I SPOKE WITH GM, THEY SAID THAT THE PROBLEM WITH THE VTI TRANSMISSION WAS NEVER FIXED SO THAT MEANS THE NEW ONE INSTALLED WAS DEFECTIVE. I ASKED THE GM REP TO SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO AND THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING. WHY WOULD THEY REPLACE A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT WITH ANOTHER DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND THEN WASH THEIR HAND OF THE MATTER? GM SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS FRAUD. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD HAVE BEEN LISTED AS A RECALL AND MORE INFORMATION SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO THE CONSUMER. ESPECIALLY AFTER "WE THE PEOPLE" BAILED OUT GM FROM BANKRUPTCY. THERE ARE 100'S OF ACCOUNTS ON THE INTERNET FROM SATURN VUE OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE. I WOULD EXPECT THE GOVERNMENT TO LOOK INTO THIS AND DO WHAT'S RIGHT. *TR
CAR PARKED AT WORK - INFORMED HORN WAS BLOWING ON CAR. TURNED OFF ALARM - STILL BLOWING. THUMPED CENTER OF STEERING WHEEL - BLOWING STOPPED. HAPPENED ONE WEEK LATER - SAME SCENARIO. TWO DAYS LATER - BLEW HORN AT DOG WHILE DRIVING - HAD TO THUMP CENTER OF STEERING WHEEL TO MAKE BLOWING STOP. HAVE HAD SIX (6) MORE INCIDENTS SINCE APRIL '13 = SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN HEAT BUILDS UP IN CAR. THUMPING CENTER OF STEERING WHEEL STOPS BLOWING. AFRAID TO DISCONNECT HORN DUE TO SAFETY OF HAVING A HORN. HAVE READ MULTIPLE, SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON INTERNET - FOCUSES MAINLY ON '02 AND '03 SATURN VUE. WONDERING IF THERE IS A RECALL? HAVE SEEN ESTIMATES FOR REPAIR OF HORN SWITCHES AND AIRBAGS ABOVE $700.00. SEEMS TO BE CHRONIC PROBLEM - COULD LEAD TO FIRE IN AIRBAG DUE TO FAULTY SWITCH???? VERY CONCERNED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 SATURN VUE. WHILE DRIVING AT NUMEROUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE AS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ON ALL FOUR OCCASIONS, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 126,000.
MY 2003 SATURN VUE STALLS AND DIES EVERYDAY THAT I DRIVE IT. HAS ALMOST CAUSED MYSELF AND YOUNG CHILDREN TO GET INTO MANY WRECKS FROM THIS PROBLEM OCCURRING OFTEN AT STOP LIGHTS AND MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS AND HILLS. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS MANY TIMES HAS FAIRLY NEW TRANS. AND NEW TIMING BELT ALSO PUT ON BEFORE I PURCHASED THE SATURN. TO ME THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS AND HAS FEW OTHER PROBLEMS ALSO, LIKE IDLING HIGH WHEN IN PARK. WHEN THE STALLING OCCURS IT STALLS AN THE SECURITY LIGHT COMES ON AND FLASHES 3 TIMES BEFORE IT EITHER DIES OR CONTINUES BACK TO NORMAL BEFORE IT STALLS AGAIN. I CANNOT DRIVE IT TO MY NEXT TOWN OVER WITHOUT IT DOING THIS NUMEROUS TIMES. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS VEHICLE TO ANYONE AND THAT'S ONE REASON WHY IM AFRAID TO SELL IT BECAUSE I WOULD HATE TO PUT SOMEONE ELSE IN THIS DANGEROUS CAR AND THEM NOT KNOW HOW TO CONTROL IT IF THIS HAPPENS. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED ON A SEPARATE OCCASION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE WARNING INDICATOR WAS NOT ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,600.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 SATURN VUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A STRONG GASOLINE FUEL ODOR COMING FROM INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS FUEL LEAKING AND THAT THE FUEL GAUGE FAILED TO READ THE ACCURATE FUEL LEVELS. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY COULD BE REMOVED WHILE IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. STEERING WHEEL NEEDS TO BE MUSCLED TO ALLOW KEY TO BE INSERTED AND TURNED FOR IGNITION WHEN STARTING. HOWEVER, KEY EASILY FALLS OUT WHILE ENGINE IS RUNNING AND CAR IS BEING OPERATED. *TR

AS I WAS DRIVING MY AND IT CAR BEGAN TO PULL TO THE RIGHT AND THE TIRES BEGAN TO SQUEAL. IN MY MIND I THOUGHT I THOUGHT I NEEDED BETTER TIRES AND A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. AS I WAS DRIVING TO GET THE TIRES AND ALIGNMENT I HEARD A CRACKING FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR, THIS REALLY SCARED ME. AT THIS POINT THE PULL TO THE RIGHT WAS EVEN STRONGER. I ARRIVE TO A TIRE SHOP AND PUT TIRES ON THINKING THIS WOULD BE BETTER BUT IT WAS THE SAME SO I DROVE ACROSS THE STREET TO A MECHANIC TO GET A WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND THE MECHANIC CAME OUT AND WENT UNDERNEATH THE CAR WHEN HE CAME BACK UP HE STATED THAT "YOUR SUBFRAME AND CHASIS IS CRACKED ALL THE WAY THROUGH, PARK IT IMMEDIATELY FOR SAFETY REASONS, IN HIS 20 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AS A MECHANIC HE ONLY SAW HIS TWICE THE FIRST TIME WAS IN ANOTHER CAR THAT WAS RECALLED AND MINE THAT SHOULD BE ON RECALL WITH THE LEVEL OF DANGER, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE I SEE YOU HAVE A BABY'S CAR SEAT IN YOUR BACKSEAT". HE ALSO SAID EVEN AN OLDER CAR SHOULD NOT HAVE A SUBFRAME CRACK LIKE THIS, AND THAT THE MOTOR CAN FALL OUT WHILE I'M DRIVING AND THE WHEELS WILL COLLAPSE. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO I CAN'T EVEN TRADE IT IN AND IT'S WORTH $5500 AND THE COST WOULD BE FANANIMAL TO FIX. I CAN'T GET TO WORK AND EVEN CHILD CAR THIS IS HORRIBLE. IT DOSENT MATTER WHAT TIME OF DAY IT IS BUT WHEN I TURN ON CAR THERE IS A WHINDING NOISE THAT IS VERY DISTINCTIVE SOUND AND SEEMS TO BE GETTING LOUDER IN PARK AND NEUTRAL. WHILE RETURNING ON A TRIP AND USING THE TURN SIGNAL NORMALLY, THERE WERE SEVERAL INCIDENTS IN WHICH THE TURN SIGNAL SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS WORKING AT ABOUT TWICE THE NORMAL RATE, HOWEVER THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE TURN LIGHTS WERE COMING ON. ON ONE PARTICULAR INSTANCE, WHEN THIS HAPPENED, THE TURN SIGNAL GOT EXTREMELY WARM TO THE TOUCH AND SMOKE WAS OBSERVED COMING FROM THE SWITCH. THERE WERE SEVERAL SUBSEQUENT INCIDENTS DURING THIS TRIP AND ON SUBSEQUENT DAYS, BUT ONLY THE ONE IN WHICH THE SWITCH ACTUALLY SMOKED (WHICH IS WHY I INDICATED A FIRE ABOVE). WHEN I CALLED SATURN (GM DEALERSHIP) ABOUT THIS, THEY MENTIONED THAT A SIMILAR SWITCH WAS UNDER RECALL, BUT NOT THIS ONE. AFTER HAVING REPLACED THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH, I HAD ASKED IF SATURN WANTED THE DEFECTIVE UNIT. SURPRISINGLY, SATURN DIDN'T SEEM TOO CONCERNED AND ASKED ME TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP, IN TURN, TOLD ME THAT ALL THEY COULD DETERMINE IS THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE SWITCH AND TO CONTACT SATURN CUSTOMER SERVICE. I AM QUITE CERTAIN THAT IF WE HADN'T CORRECTED THE ISSUE (WHICH IS DIFFICULT TO DESCRIBE) THAT A MORE DANGEROUS SITUATION COULD'VE BEEN CAUSED, AND THAT THIS SWITCH DESIGN IS FAULTY AND MAY POSE A SAFETY (THERMAL) CONCERN. I HAVE KEPT THE OLD SWITCH AND WILL GLADLY PROVIDE IT TO NHTSA IF REQUESTED TO DO SO. I DIDN'T FEEL IT SAFE TO KEEP USING THE OLD SWITCH, AND WHILE THE COST WAS RATHER MINIMAL TO HAVE IT REPLACED, I'M SURPRISED THAT SATURN DIDN'T OFFER TO REIMBURSE ME AND AS I STATED PREVIOUSLY, DIDN'T REQUEST THE FAULTY PART TO BE RETURNED. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY SIMILAR INCIDENTS SINCE REPLACING THE SWITCH, WHICH CERTAINLY CORRECTED IT. THE PART NUMBER LISTED ON THE OLD SWITCH IS SHOWN AS BEING AR339790736/22679804. IN ORDER TO NOT CAUSE THE SWITCH TO GO INTO THE MODE DESCRIBED ABOVE, IT WAS BEST TO NOT USE THE TURN SIGNAL ANY MORE THAN POSSIBLE. *TR

I WAS REAR ENDED ON MARCH 19TH IN SPRINGDALE ARKANSAS. I WAS PARKED AT A STOP LIGHT WHEN A CAR REAR ENDED ME. THE DRIVER DID NOT HAVE INSURANCE AND HIS NAME WAS [XXX] ADDRESS ON THE ACCIDENT REPORT WAS[XXX]. THE VEHICLE WAS A MITSUBISHI MIRAGE LICENSE PLATE 551 RKZ AND DRIVERS LICENSE NUMBER [XXX]. THE OFFICERS NAME WAS [XXX]. I RECEIVED THE LETTER FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY PROGRESSIVE STATING THAT HE DID NOT HAVE INSURANCE. THE FOLLOWING DAY AFTER THE ACCIDENT ON THE WAY HOME MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT, OIL LIGHT AND SEVERAL OTHER LIGHTS FLASHED. THERE WAS A LOUD POPPING NOISE AND BLACK SMOKE CAME POURING OUT AND EVERYTHING SHUT DOWN. I HAVE SINCE NOTICED THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS SAME THING BUT WAS TOLD IT IS NOT FOR MY SPECIFIC VIN NUMBER. I AM ARGUING WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY BECAUSE THEY REFUSE TO REPAIR THE ENGINE PART WHICH THEY SAID WAS NOT DUE TO THE ACCIDENT. I THINK THE IMPACT FROM THE WRECK KNOCKED THE OIL FILLER CAP OFF BECAUSE WHEN THE GEICO ADJUSTERS HAD THE CAR THEY COULD NOT FIND IT. I FOUND THE OIL FILLER CAP DOWN IN THE FRONT BETWEEN THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE AND FRONT OF THE CAR. OIL WAS ALL OVER THE ENGINE AND SEIZED FROM WHAT THE GEICO ADJUSTERS SAID. I AM PLACING A COMPLAINT WITH THE INSURANCE COMMISSIONER ON GEICO FOR NOT PICKING ME UP FOR ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE, TAKING TO LONG TO REPAIR THE BUMPER, NOT KNOWING WHAT THEY ARE DOING TAKING SO LONG TO BE ABLE TO REPAIR THE CAR. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH HEARD A CLUNK BY THE BACK REAR PASSENGER TIRE, THE TOP OF THE RIGHT REAR TIRE WAS TILTED IN. APPEARED TO HAVE A BROKEN LATERAL ARM WHICH WAS ATTACHED TO THE FRAME. IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN GOING ANY RATE OF SPEED THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ISSUE. I FEEL THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. I CONTACTED SATURN WHO TOOK MY CLAIM AND ADMITTED THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE LATERAL ARM IN 2005. THIS SUPPOSELY WAS TAKEN IN TO A DEALERSHIP AND FIXED. I DIDN'T OWN THIS VEHICLE THEN. SATURN REFUSES TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ISSUE AND SAID IT VERY LIKELY COULDVE BEEN A FAULTLY PART BUT SINCE IT HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF IN 2005 NO LONGER RESPONSIBLE. I FEEL I COULD HAVE KILLED MYSELF, LOST CONTROL AND/OR HURT SOMEONE ELSE IF I WOULD HAVE LOST CONTROL. *TR
I LOST THE ABILITY TO GO FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WILL ONLY GO IN REVERSE. I WAS IN A PARKING LOT WITH MY MOTHER AND WENT INTO REVERSE AND WHEN I TRIED TO GO FORWARD THE ENGINE WOULD ONLY REV. AFTER MANY TRIES TO GET IT TO WORK I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION I HAD REPLACED JUST 32000 MILES EARLIER HAD FAILED. THIS IS THE SECOND TRANSMISSION. THE CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 130000 MILES. NOT REALLY SURE SINCE IT HAS BEEN SETTING IN MY DRIVEWAY SINCE THIS HAPPENED AND I CAN'T GET IT TO TURN OVER TO BE ABLE TO SEE THE MILEAGE. WHILE AT THE DEALERSHIP IT DID IT AGAIN. THEY WERE ABLE TO GET IT IN GEAR SO I COULD GET IT HOME. THERE ARE MANY CONSUMERS HAVING WORSE SAFETY ISSUES. MY SATURN VUE 2003 EXPERIENCES SERIOUS HESITATION IN POWER WHEN TRAVELING OVER 45 MPH. THE DANGEROUS SPUTTERING GETS HARDER WHEN I NEED TO DRIVE MORE THAN 45 MPH SUCH AS WHEN I HAVE TO TRAVEL ON PARKWAYS OR EXPRESSWAYS. ON DECEMBER 3, 2011, I ENTERED EXIT 36 OF THE GRAND CENTRAL PARKWAY AND MAINTAINED A STEADY SPEED OF 55 MPH IN LIGHT TRAFFIC. AS THE TRAFFIC INCREASED TO EXIT 17, THE CAR BEGAN TO HESITATE AND APPEAR TO WANT TO COME TO A STOP. IT WAS DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN A DECREASED SPEED OF 45 MPH TO AVOID THE SPUTTERING AND HALTING. I GOT INTO THE RIGHT LANE AND EXITED THE PARKWAY AS MY CAR JOLTED THEN CAME TO A SUDDEN HALT. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED 15 MINUTES, PUT MY CAR IN DRIVE AND IT WOULD NOT DRIVE FORWARD. I PUT IT IN REVERSE AND MANEUVERED IT INTO AN OPEN SPACE ALONG THE CURB ON 78TH AVENUE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,477 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 96,105.
I PURCHASED THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN 2003 AND AM THE ONLY DRIVER. OTHER THAN THE NOW DEFUNCT TRANSMISSION, THE CAR IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE, BOTH INSIDE AND OUT. WHILE DRIVING APPX. 70MPH ON THE FREEWAY, MY VUE LOST POWER DOWN TO 30MPH AND RPMS INCREASED TO OVER 5000. THE "CHECK ENGINE" AND "REDUCED POWER" WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. I MANAGED TO DRIVE THE CAR TO THE RECOMMENDED GM SERVICE CENTER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VTI TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED. SERVICE ADVISOR CONTACTED GM AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULDN'T PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. CAR IS STILL AT GM SERVICE CENTER AS THERE IS NO WAY TO REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION AND ASSURE ME THAT THE $5000 IT WILL COST ME WILL LAST SINCE THEY CAN NOT GET A NEW TRANSMISSION, ONLY REBUILD ANOTHER ONE THAT HAS FAILED. THIS CAR IS ONLY 8 YEARS OLD WITH 114K MILES AND BASED ON MY HISTORY WITH SATURN VEHICLES, MY EXPECTATION WAS THAT IT SHOULD HAVE LASTED AT LEAST ANOTHER 3 YEARS AND 50K MILES. ALSO, BASED ON THE INFORMATION I HAVE READ ONLINE FROM OTHER VUE OWNERS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM, IT APPEARS THAT GM IS NOT CONSISTENT WITH THE LEVEL OF RESPONSE OR ASSISTANCE TO US. HOW CAN IT BE THAT SOMEONE WITH 120K MILES GETS THEIR REPAIR/REPLACEMENT AT NO CHARGE AND OTHERS WITH LESS MILEAGE CAN NOT? THERE IS NO CONSISTENCY, IT IS A CRAP SHOOT AS TO THE RESPONSE YOU WILL RECEIVE. I STILL HAVE THE LETTERS I RECEIVED FROM SATURN NOTIFYING ME THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS DESTINED TO FAIL. GM SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING RELIEF TO ALL OF US, EQUALLY, SINCE THEY KNEW THAT EVENTUALLY WE WOULD ALL BE AFFECTED. I AM INCLUDED IN THE CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT WITH LAKIN CHAPMAN. *TR
