[Wednesday 4:11 PM] Rosales, Denise CTR (NHTSA) The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to engage in hybrid mode the morning after being purchased. In addition, the vehicle failed to start and maintain battery power. The vehicle was towed to 2 different independent mechanics and 1 independent mechanic who came to the residence where it was diagnosed that the vehicle did not have hybrid functions possibly due to the battery failing to maintain power. The contact stated the battery was replaced however the failures remained present. An appointment with the dealer was scheduled to inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 66,000.
I was driving and pulled up to get some gas and put my car in park it just stop and turned off and I haven’t been able to get it back on. Went and saw a mechanic and he said it was the timing chain on the car it only had 97,000 miles on it and it would shake while I’m in ideal
I was driving on the highway, on the way to the beach with my family and our pup! We heard a pop and thought maybe it was the tire but the engine began smoking. I pulled the vehicle over as safely as possible. I popped the hood and there was a fire. Everyone evacuated the vehicle as quickly and safely as possible. I was the last to get out of the vehicle. Within minutes the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames. We stood there and watched the only vehicle we have completely burn up. I cried and I watched my kids cry. What was supposed to be a beach day for us to distress and relax turned into us almost losing our lives on the highway. We are thankful for the state trooper, the fire department, and the paramedics who all arrived on scene and kept my family safe. Im thankful our lives weren’t lost. However we still faced a life or death situation today.
Key is easily removable when in on position. Also difficult to turn from lock position.
The brackets welded to the frame of the vehicle holding the steering knuckle/subframe together was designed in a very poor way. This design issue causes the vehicle to collect excess moisture in a way that is difficult if not impossible to drain, resulting in eventual rust build up in this area of the vehicle at an increased rate. Additionally, this section of the frame did not use thick enough steel, resulting in this bracket rusting off much quicker than the age of this vehicle should allow. This resulted in the engine dropping about an inch and a half, damage to the suspension, gasket and valve cover leaks, damaged wheel hubs, and general inoperability of the vehicle due to unsafe conditions created. It's unsafe driving condition has been confirmed by the lead mechanics at our GM Dealership, and is currently undergoing inspection by GEICO for a possible total loss claim. No indications were given other than excessive wear on the wheel hubs shortly before the engine dropped and the corner of the frame rusted/broke off. We live in a salt state yes, but the poor design of this frame is to blame and should be recalled for total replacement by the manufacturers due to the incredible safety risk that this poses to the public.
The contact owned a 2007 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50 mph, the vehicle went around a right-hand corner and skidded. The vehicle then crashed into an embankment, and it stopped in a ditch. No air bags were deployed upon impact. The contact was transported by ambulance to the hospital as a precaution but did not sustain any injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The vehicle was deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 183,100.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle for a state inspection, the contact was told that the front engine cradle mounts were severely corroded. The contact was also informed that the corrosion was so severe that the part could not be replaced. The dealer nor the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 204,495.
I'M GETTING CODES P0171 AND P2138, AIR BAG NOT WORKING CODE ON..
I WAS DRIVING THIS EVENING ON A CITY STREET WHEN MY SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. MY PASSENGER AMD DRIVER AIRBAGS HOWEVER DID NOT. WHEN MY SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED IT STARTLED ME AND I HIT A CURB MESSING UP MY ALIGNMENT. THIS WAS INCREDIBLY UNEXPECTED AND COULD'VE BEEN A LOT WORSE.
KEY EVERY NOW AND WOULD GET STUCK IN THE IGNITION CYLINDER. FINALLY IT JUST DIDNT COME OUT. NO MONEY TO BUY NEW KEY...HAD TO RECOVER KEY AND IN ATTEMPTING TO DO SO THE IGNTION CYLINDER WAS GREATLY DAMAGED. NOW CAR STARTS BUT IMMEDIATELY SHUTS OFF WHILE SECURITY LIGHT STEADY FLASHES. ITS MY ONLY FORM OF TRANSPORTATION...IT WAS CAUSE NOW ITS JUST SITTING THERE NEEDING A WHOLE IGNITION CYLINDER AND SWITCH MAYBE .
I WAS DRIVING TAKING A RIGHT TURN WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND WOULD NOT TURN FURTHER, I DRIVE INTO THE OTHER LANE. I THEN DECIDED TO GET INTO A PARKING LOT, SECONDS LATER THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AGAIN AND I HAD TO GET THE CAR TOWED TO MY HOUSE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 65 MPH AND THE CAR STARTED SHAKING,BRAKES. GOT REALLY TIGHT CAR BARELY WANTED TO,STOP TRANSMISSIKN WAS OVERHEATING AT THE SAME TIME CAR WASNT PASSING SECOND GEAR EVERYTHING HAPPENED OUT OF NOWHERE.
DRIVING ON THE ROAD AND FREEWAY, THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS AND RADIO GO OUT AND I LOOSE POWER STEERING, THIS IS AN ONGOING AND SPORADIC PROBLEM. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY RECOMMENDED TO REPLACE THE BOTH BATTERY CABLES, I REPLACE THEM BUT CONTINUE TO HAVE THE PROBLEM, I BELIEVE IT IS AN IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM, BUT THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY VIN NUMBER
MAY HAVE A TORQUE CONVERTER CONDITION THAT COULD RESULT IN A TRANSMISSIONS VIBRATIONS OR SHAKING MOTION (JUDDER) WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 25 TO 45 MPH.

WHEN TURN ON A/C WILL BLOW COLD AIR FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND THEN BLOW HOT AIR. ONCE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON THE COLD AIR BLOWS FOR 15 MINUTES AND THEN BLOWS HOT AIR. THIS PROCESS REPEATS ITSELF. THIS IS WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.

LOWER CONTOL ARM LEFT REAR SUSPENTION,PULLED OUT OF MOUNT. BODY RUSTED AND MAIN COMPONENT PULLED OUT CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL .
AIR BAG LIGHT WILL BE ON, OR FLASH PERIODICALLY WHEN ALREADY FASTENED. HAD AN ELECTRICAL FIRE IN THE LEFT SIDE OF STEERING COLUMN 7/27/18. CRUISE GOES IN AND OUT. DIM/BRIGHT LIGHT COMES ON WHEN USING TURN SIGNAL. IGNITION SWITCH LOCKS UP FROM TIME TO TIME WHERE KEY CAN'T BE REMOVED AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP OR YOU CAN REMOVE KEY BUT SWITCH IS STILL ENGAGED. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN MOTION WHEN MOST INCIDENTS OCCURRED AND LOCKUPS OCCUR DEPENDING ON WHAT POSITION THE STEERING WHEEL IS IN (ADJUSTABLE). THE ELECTRICAL FIRE HAPPENED JUST AS I EXITED THE HIGHWAY FROM A 30 MINUTE TRIP AFTER RELEASING THE CRUISE CONTROL BUTTON. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY 4 BLOCKS FROM HOME. CFD WAS CALLED AND THEY DISMANTLED THE COLUMN, EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. I WAS BLESSED. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE!

AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE, THE GEAR FAILED TO SHIFT EVEN THOUGH THE GEAR INDICATOR DISPLAYED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SEARS AUTO CENTER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WERE ELECTRICAL FAILURES. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
(MOTION) (HIGHWAY AT 70MPH) CARS KEY SLIDES OUT OF IGNITION WHEN IN THE ON POSITION. (STATIONARY) (DRIVEWAY) HAVE HAD PROBLEMS STARTING VEHICLE, IE. COULDN'T GET THE CAR TO TURN OVER AS WELL AS KEY STICKING AND BEING DIFFICULT TO MOVE - THIS MADE ME THINK INITIALLY THAT IT WAS ALTENATOR OR BATTERY. AFTER LETTING THE CAR SIT A BIT, AND A LOT OF WIGGLING OF THE KEY, WAS FINALLY ABLE TO START VEHICLE. THESE ARE THE SAME PROBLEM GM HAD WITH EARLIER MODELS AND HAD TO MAKE A RECALL ON. YET THERE IS NOT RECALL ON THE 2007? WHAT HAPPENED TO SAFETY STANDARDS. I HAVE NOT HAD IT SHUT OFF ON ME WHILE IN MOTION YET. BUT I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED.
THE KEY CAN COME OUT WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM THEY HAVE A RECALL ON FOR 2002-2004 SATURN VEUS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE 2015 WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR. ALSO I HAVE REPORTED IN THE PAST THAT THE IGNITION TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING WHICH CAN BE FATAL IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE HAD MY IGNITION SWITCH HARD WIRED TO A SWITCH ON THE DASH.

I HAVE BEEN LATE FOR APPOINTMENTS, LATE FOR PICKING MY CHILDREN UP AND GETTING THEM FROM SCHOOL, DUE TO WAITING FOR THE CAR TO STOP FLICKERING AND MALFUNCTIONING. EACH TIME THIS OCCURRED THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY/BEING PARKED, ON 6-10 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS IN THE PAST 2 YEARS, THE KEY HAS GOTTEN LOCKED TIGHT IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THIS CAUSED THE BATTERY TO RUN DOWN AND DIE ON MORE THAN A FEW OCCASIONS. ONCE THE KEY WAS FROZEN IN PLACE, AFTER THE ENGINE WAS OFF, THE KEY WOULD NOT MOVE IN ANY DIRECTION AND THE STEERING WAS LOCKED TIGHT UNABLE TO MOVE AT ALL, THE GEAR SHIFT COLUMN WAS UNABLE TO BE PUT IN PARK. OTHER TIMES THE KEY WOULD JUST BE STUCK IN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND COULD NOT BE REMOVED, REGARDLESS OF EFFORT TO REMOVE IT, ALSO NOT ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO BE PLACE INTO THE GEAR OF PARK. THIS PROBLEM HAS CAUSE US TO ABANDON THE VEHICLE MORE THAN ONCE, THIS IS DANGEROUS & SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. I SEE OTHER RECALLS ON OTHER SATURN MODELS BUT NOT THE VUE 2007, WHICH DOES HAVE A DEFECT IN THIS AREA AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. FOR THE RECORD THE CAR KEY AND THE REMOTE ARE THE ONLY THINGS ON MY KEY CHAIN, SO THE WEIGHT OF THE KEY CHAIN IS NOT THE PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS.

I OWN A 07 SATURN VUE. I PURCHASED IT AFTER SEEING A FRIEND WITH ONE AND I LOVED IT. I ALSO HAVE A FRIEND IN KANSAS WITH ONE. AFTER REPLACING THE ALTERNATOR AND THE BATTERY, NEXT DAY I WILL STILL NEED A JUMP. IF I GO INTO THE STORE, I WILL NEED A JUMP. MY FRIEND HERE, HERS DOES IT AS WELL, AND SO DID MY FRIEND IN KANSAS. TOOK IT TO A GM DEALER, THEY GUARANTEED ALL PARTS,,, AFTER SPENDING COUNTLESS FUNDS AND TIMES, I AM STILL HAVING THE ISSUE,,, A DAY AFTER REPLACING EVERYTHING BRAND NEW AGAIN. I'VE BEEN STAR FED IN THE RAIN, SNOW, AND ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT WITH MY KIDS DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I SEARCHED ONLINE(MYSTERY BEHIND DYING BATTERY IN A 07 SATURN VUE) AND TO MY AMAZEMENT,,, THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. EVERY TIME THE BATTERY DIES, IT AFFECTS SOMETHING ELSE AS WELL. MY RADIO HAS NOT COME BACK ON SINCE, I REPLACED THE RADIO,,, WITHIN A WEEK THAT RADIO WOULD NOT POWER ON AS WELL. THE LIGHTS WILL FLICKER, AND SOMETIMES YOU CAN'T EVEN TELL CAR IS ACTUALLY ON BECAUSE NOTHING IN THE CAR WILL POWER ON,,, SEEMS TO MOSTLY DO IT IN COOL WEATHER. NO MATTER WHERE I WENT OR HOW SOON AFTER REPLACING EVERYTHING,,, THE BATTERY WOULD DIE,,, I'M ASSUMING IT'S SOMETHING WITH THE ALTERNATOR AT THIS POINT. MY FRIEND REBUILT HIS AND HASN'T HAD ISSUES IN 2YRS, I'VE REPLACED MINE 3 TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH AND I'M STILL HAVING THESE ISSUES. I FIRST PURCHASED THE CAR AND IT ONLY HAD 80000 MILES ON IT ITS NOW AT 105000 AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT ON IT DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I HAVENT HAD THE CAR THAT LONG. IT WAS PRACTICALLY STILL NEW. IF THESE CARS EASILY BREAK DOWN CAUSED BY TRANSMISSION THEN THEY SHOULD BE UP FOR RECALL .THE CAR WAS MOVING WE WERE GOING DOWN HIGHWAY WHEN THERE WAS A CLUCKING SOUND.

TAKATA RECALL, SAME AS OTHER COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG CAN BE DEACTIVATED WHEN SOMEONE IS ACTUALLY SITTING IN THE SEAT. THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON THE PANEL INTERMITTENTLY. THIS IS ALL WHILE DRIVING, I CAN BE DRIVING FOR AN HOUR AND THEN THE LIGHT COMES ON, OR BE DRIVING FOR AN HOUR WITH THE LIGHT ON AND THEN THE LIGHT GOES OFF.
