WINDSHIELD WAS HIT BY A SMALL ROCK WHILE DRIVING. FROM A CHIP ON THE WINDSHIELD THE CRACK IS NOW ABOUT 1/3 -1/2 OF THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE WINDSHIELD, AS IT CONTINUES TO EXPAND. CRACK GREW ABOUT 2IN WHILE SITTING INSIDE MY GARGE OVERNIGHT. CRACK CONTINUES TO EXPAND WHILE CAR IS STATIONARY.
ON THE MORNING OF 11/9/19 I HAD DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES FROM HOME AND WAS AT A STOP LIGHT. SUDDENLY, WHILE STOPPED, I HEARD A CRACK AND SAW THAT MY WINDSHIELD HAD CRACKED. THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS IN THE AREA. THE CRACK BEGAN AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD JUST ABOVE THE END OF THE DRIVER SIDE WIPER BLADE. THE CRACK SPREAD UPWARDS ABOUT 8 INCHES AND THEN WENT RIGHT ANOTHER 4 INCHES. I CONTACTED SUBARU CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY OPENED A CLAIM AND ADVISED ME TO VISIT THE CLOSET DEALERSHIP. UPON VISITING THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP, THEY SUGGESTED THAT A SMALL ROCK MAY HAVE CHIPPED THE GLASS, BUT THERE IS NO CHIP OR STARBURST WHERE THE POINT OF IMPACT MAY HAVE BEEN. THIS WAS COMPLETELY SPONTANEOUS AND WAS NOT INFLUENCED FROM ANY ROCKS/PEBBLES, ETC. BECAUSE SUBARU AND THE DEALERSHIP DISREGARDED MY CONCERN, I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO CONTACT MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO FILE A CLAIM AS TO NOT RISK THE CHANCE OF BEING PULLED OVER AND ISSUED A TICKET. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THIS HAPPENED AND REALLY HOPE THAT SUBARU WILL TAKE ACTION. MY INSURANCE COMPANY WAS VERY HESITANT TO APPROVE AN OEM WINDSHIELD AND I WILL HAVE TO FRONT THE COST OF THE RECALIBRATION. THIS IS VERY DISHEARTENING AS I LOVE MY SUBARU, BUT NOW I'M HAVING SECOND THOUGHTS ON HOW SAFE IT ACTUALLY IS.
A ROCK HIT WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING 60MPH LEAVING AN UNNOTICED CHIP. A FEW DAYS LATER, AN 18 INCH CRACK IN WINDSHIELD APPEARED WHILE PARKED. CURRENTLY AWAITING REPLACEMENT OF WINDSHIELD THROUGH INSURANCE CLAIM DEPARTMENT.
RETURNED TO VEHICLE FROM GROCERY STORE,PARKED FAR AWAY FROM OTHER VEHICLES. TEMP WAS 60 + DEGREES OUTSIDE. RETURNED TO CAR 1 + HRS. LATER TEMP DROPPED TO 30 + DEGREES TO 35. WINDSHIELD HAD CRACKED FROM LEFT PLIER MID HEIGHT TO CENTER OF WINDSHIELD REAR VIEW MIRROR HEIGHT. NO OTHER EXPLANATION FOR THE CRACK.
WAS DRIVING ON A US HWY WHEN ALL IF A SUDDEN I HEARD A LOUD SNAP. I WAS PASSING A SEMI AT THE TIME SO THOUGHT THE SOUND MIGHT HAVE COME FROM THE SEMI THROWING ROCKS. AT THAT TIME THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF A CHIP OR CRACK ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE NEXT MORNING THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED FROM THE FAR RIGHT SIDE ACROSS THE DRIVER'S LINE IF VIEW.
SPONTANEOUS CRACK IN WINDSHIELD 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING
DID NOT SEE AN IMPACT POINT, BUT A LARGE CRACK (18") APPEARED ON THE WINDSHIELD. CAR SAT IN THE GARAGE AND THE CRACK GREW TO ABOUT 24". IT IS IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER SIDE EYE SIGHT GOES DOWN ABOUT HALF WAY ON THE WINDSHIELD AND THEN TURNS TOWARDS THE PASSENGER SIDE. READ THAT MULTIPLE PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE. SUBARU STATED NO RECALL, HAD TO GO THROUGH INSURANCE
WE PURCHASE A 2019 SUBARU FORESTER ON MARCH 29, 2019. SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WE HAVE HAD THREE SEPARATE INCIDENTS INVOLVING THE VEHICLE'S WINDSHIELD. ON APRIL 3, 2019 A STONE HIT THE WINDSHIELD THAT REQUIRED US TO SUBMIT A CLAIM TO OUR INSURANCE COMPANY FOR REPAIR. IN NOVEMBER 2019, WE WENT INTO THE GARAGE AND NOTICED A LARGE CRACK IN THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD WHICH WENT FROM THE BOTTOM TO TOP. THERE WAS NO CLEAR EVIDENCE AS TO HOW THE CRACK OCCURRED. DON'T REMEMBER ANOTHER STONE HITTING THE WINDSHIELD THE CRACK JUST APPEARED. WE HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD AND THE DEALER REFUSED TO COVER UNDER THE VEHICLE WARRANTY SO WE HAD TO SUBMIT IT TO OUR INSURANCE COMPANY. THIS YEAR IN JANUARY 2020 ANOTHER STONE STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD AND WE HAD TO SUBMIT A CLAIM TO OUR INSURANCE FOR IT TO BE FIXED. HAVING OWNED SEVERAL VEHICLES THROUGHOUT OUR LIVES, WE HAVE NEVER HAD THIS MANY PROBLEMS WITH A WINDSHIELD OR TO HAVE A WINDSHIELD REPLACED. WE HAVE NOTICED OTHER INDIVIDUALS ON THE INTERNET EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS WE ARE HAVING WITH THEIR SUBARU WINDSHIELDS. ARE THE SUBARU WINDSHIELDS DEFECTIVE? THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED.
THE WINDSHIELD HAS SUDDENLY DEVELOPED A LARGE (19") CRACK IN IT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. WE BELIEVE SOMETHING VERY SMALL KICKED UP AND HIT IT THE UPPER CORNER DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING ON A FRIDAY, AND THERE WASN'T NOTICEABLE DAMAGE WHEN IT WAS PARKED A FEW MINUTES LATER, BUT THE FOLLOWING MONDAY MORNING, AFTER THE CAR WAS SITTING IN THE TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED GARAGE ALL WEEKEND, THERE WAS A VERY LARGE CRACK. THE CAR HAD LESS THAN 3,000 MILES ON IT AND WE HAD IT FOR LESS THAN 6 MONTHS.
AFTER 3500 MILES WINDSHIELD CRACKED BETWEEN EYE SIGHT SYSTEM CAMERAS. CRACK HAS AROUND 20 INCHES. NO VISIBLE STONE IMPACT. LOOKS LIKE GLASS QUALITY ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU FORESTER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED DUE TO A CHAIN REACTION TOTALING SEVEN OTHER VEHICLES. WHEN THE CONTACT PUSHED THE SOS BUTTON INSIDE HER VEHICLE, SHE SPOKE WITH STARLINK AND WAS INFORMED THAT SHE WOULD BE CONNECTED TO 911. INSTEAD, THE "YOUR CALL CANNOT BE COMPLETED AS DIALED, PLEASE TRY YOUR CALL AGAIN LATER" MESSAGE WAS HEARD. ALSO, THE STARLINK APP INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FUNCTIONING AT 100%; HOWEVER, THE BLIND SIDE DETECTION HAD DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE CRASH. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE CONTACT CALLED SUBARU STARLINK AND WAS INFORMED THEY WOULD LOOK INTO THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT HAD NOT HEARD BACK AND THEN CALLED SUBARU AMERICA. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD OPEN AN IT TICKET. THE CONTACT FOLLOWED-UP WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND FOUND THAT NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE AND A TICKET WAS NOT OPENED. THE CONTACT INJURED HER BACK AND SUSTAINED A SPRAINED ANKLE AND WHIPLASH. IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT RECEIVED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO NORTH READING SUBARU (978-386-6090, LOCATED AT 260 MAIN ST, NORTH READING, MA 01864) AND THEN TAKEN TO A BODY SHOP. THE ENTIRE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,419.
DRIVING AROUND 60 MILES DOWN A SMOOTH PAVED HIGHWAY A LARGE FOOT LONG CURVED CRACK FORMED ON THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE BASE. I DID NOT SEE OR HEAR GRAVEL HIT THE WINDOW, OF IT DID IT MUST HAVE BEEN VERY SMALL. THERE IS NO CONSPICUOUS IMPACT POINT.
GOT MY NEW FORESTER 8/1/19. ON 9/20/19, THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. WE DID NOT HEAR ANYTHING HIT IT. THE CRACK GREW TO ABOUT 2 FEET, AND THE WINDSHIELD HAD TO BE REPLACED ON 9/25/19. ABOUT 10/25/19, I GOT 2 DINGS FROM ROCKS THAT HAD TO BE REPAIRED. I DROVE A TOYOTA FOR 12 YEARS AND HAD ONE DING. I DON'T THINK THE SUBARU WINDSHIELDS ARE STRONG ENOUGH, AND I THINK THEY PRESENT A HAZARD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU FORESTER. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD CRACKED ON ITS OWN. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED HER INSURANCE COMPANY AND AN EMPLOYEE WAS SENT TO PERFORM A TEMPORARY REMEDY ON THE CRACK TO PREVENT MORE DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,350. *LN *TR
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN WINDSHIELD CRACKED. A SMALL PEBBLE FROM THE HIGHWAY HIT THE GLASS AND CAUSED A LONG CRACK. THE FOLLOWING DAY AFTER BEING PARKED OVERNIGHT, THE CRACK WAS EVEN LONGER. I HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD LESS THAN ONE MONTH AGO FOR ANOTHER CRACK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED AND WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES IN A SIX-MONTH PERIOD. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE DESIGN OF THE HOOD AND THE THICKNESS OF THE GLASS IN THE WINDSHIELD WAS A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO THE FAILURES. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL SOUND IN THE TRANSMISSION WHENEVER THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS SHIFTED INTO REVERSE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BACKUP CAMERA FAILED TO OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHEN THE STOP/START FUNCTION WAS REACTIVATED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE IDLED ROUGHLY AND LUNGED FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MOORE CHRYSLER JEEP FIAT (8600 W BELL RD, PEORIA, AZ 85382, 800-757-0140) HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50.
THERE ARE ACTUALLY THREE ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE BIGGEST ISSUE, AND POTENTIALLY THE MOST DANGEROUS, IS THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY SHUTTING ITSELF OFF - NOT STALLING. THE PROBLEM OCCURS MOST OFTEN WHILE STOPPED AT LIGHTS, BUT HAS OCCURRED IN OTHER SITUATIONS AS WELL. ALL FUNCTIONS IN THE VEHICLE STOP, A LOUD, CONTINUOUS BEEP BEGINS AND THE DASH INDICATES AN 'EYE SITE' ERROR. APPARENTLY, WHEN THE EYE SITE FEATURE HAS AN ISSUE, IT RESPONDS BY RENDERING THE ENTIRE VEHICLE INOPERABLE. SO FAR, RETURNING THE VEHICLE TO PARK AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE RESETS THE FEATURE AND RESTORES FUNCTIONALITY. THE PROBLEM IS, HOWEVER, HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. THE SECOND ISSUE IS A LOUD, RAPID CLICKING SOUND COMING FROM BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SIDE DASH. IT ALSO OCCURS RANDOMLY AND WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY. IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO HINDER FUNCTIONALITY, BUT IT CAN BE INCREDIBLY DISTRACTING. FINALLY, AS OTHERS HAVE REPORTED, THE REAR HATCH ALSO RANDOMLY SHUTS ITSELF OFF AND DOES NOT RESPOND TO PROMPT TO OPEN. SUBARU'S RESPONSE TO THESE ISSUES HAS THUS FAR BEEN THE EQUIVALENT OF A SHOULDER SHRUG.
TRAVELING AT ABOUT 30 MPH A SMALL PEBBLE HIT MY WINDSHIELD. DID NOT SEE ANY DAMAGE BUT WHEN I GOT BACK INTO THE CAR AFTER A GYM WORKOUT (2 HOURS) THE WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE EDGE OF WINDSHIELD TOWARDS THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD (18' FROM EDGE OF WINDSHIELD TO THE END OF CRACK). I TOOK MY CAR TO HENDERSON GLASS IN TROY MI. AND I SUBMITTTED A CLAIM WITH PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE WHILE AT HENDERSON GLASS (REFERAL # 681837). LATER I HAD READ SUBARU FORESTER'S WERE HAVING WINDSHIELD CRACKING ISSUES. MY ISSUE IS MY $100.00 DEDUCTIBLE AND MY INSURANCE COMPANY HAVING TO PAY FOR A WINDSHIELD THAT MAYBE A MANUFACTER DEFECT. ALSO I DO NOT WANT MY INSURANCE RATES GO UP FOR CLAIM.
REAR HATCH WILL NOT OPEN USING REMOTE OR BUTTON ON DASHBOARD OR BUTTON ON DOOR. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I WAS PARKED AT GROCERY STORE. TRIED AGAIN AT HOME AND STILL NOT WORKING.
ON 10/23/19, I NOTICED A CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD OF MY 2019 SUBARU FORESTER. I HAD NOT SEEN OR HEARD ANYTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD PRIOR TO SEEING THE CRACK. I TOOK THE SUBARU FORESTER TO THE DEALERSHIP FROM WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND WAS INFORMED THAT WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT WAS NOT COVERED BY MY WARRANTY. I THEN PAID SAFELITE $772.10 ON 10/25/19 TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD.
WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I HEARD THE CRACK, BUT I DIDN'T SEE THE OBJECT. AFTER I HEARD THE SOUND, I SAW THERE'S A CRACK ON THE WINDSHIELD.
MONDAY OCTOBER 21ST I WAS DRIVING 65 MILES PER HOUR ON US 23 WHEN I HEARD A NICK ON THE WINDSHIELD. ABOUT FIVE MINUTES LATER I NOTICED A CRACK GOING FROM THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD TO THE MIDDLE. I HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED INSURANCE COVERED IT BUT I HAD TO PAY $200 DEDUCTIBLE. I HAVE HEARD OF MANY SUBARU FORESTER WINDSHIELDS BREAKING IN THIS MANNER.
FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SHAKES ON UNEVEN SURFACES, WHEREBY APPEARING UNSTABLE AND INAPPROPRIATELY SECURED TO FOUNDATION OF VEHICLE.
MY SON'S NEW 2019 SUBARU FORESTER TOURING BURNED TO A CRISP (TOTAL) ON SATURDAY, 10/19 IN I-95 NEAR NEW ROCHELLE, NY. VEHICLE WAS IN THE LEFT LANE AND THE CAR IN FRONT STOPPED AND THEY HIT IT, THEN THEY WERE HIT IN THE BACK, TOO. THEIR CAR BURNED BUT THE CAR IN FRONT AND BEHIND DID NOT. THE CAR IN FRONT WAS EVEN ABLE TO MOVE INDICATING NOTHING WRONG WITH ITS GAS TANK.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN MY GARAGE. AMBIENT WAS ABOUT 65 DEGREES F. I WAS ATTEMPTING TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER WIPER BLADE. I ACCIDENTALLY DROPPED THE WIPER ARM WHICH STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD WITHOUT THE BLADE. THE RESULT WAS AN IMMEDIATE CRACK OVER 12" LONG. VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 16,500 MILES. I HAVE OWNED IT FOR LESS THAN 1000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU FORESTER. WHILE TRAVELING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GREGORIS SUBARU (575 W MERRICK RD, VALLEY STREAM, NY 11580, (516) 825-8700) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS SEPARATED FROM THE STARTER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL SUBARU DEALER. THE DEALER WAS INFORMED BY THE MANUFACTURER TO CONTACT THEM IF ANY FURTHER DEFECTS OCCURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 996. *LN*JB
WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON AN INTERSTATE WITH LITTLE TO NO TRAFFIC FOR APPROXIMATELY 1/4 MILE AHEAD OR BEHIND MY VEHICLE THE WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD, NEAR THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD, VERTICALLY TOWARDS THE TOP AND THEN TURNED HORIZONTAL. THERE WAS NO SOUND OF AN IMPACT OR EVIDENCE OF AN EXTERNAL FACTOR CAUSING THE WINDSHIELD TO FRACTURE.
WE WERE DRIVING ON A PAVED ROAD WITH NO OTHER CARS AROUND AND THE WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY DEVELOPED A 12 INCH CRACK COMING UP FROM VERY LOW ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 65 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND WE DID NOT HAVE EITHER THE HEATER OR A/C RUNNING. OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS THE CRACK INCREASED TO ABOUT 24 INCHES. ON CLOSE EXAMINATION I DID SEE AN EXTREMELY SMALL 'STAR' WHERE THE CRACK STARTED. I DO REMEMBER HAVING A PEBBLE HIT THE WINDSHIELD OVER A MONTH AGO BUT I COULD NOT SEE ANY DAMAGE AT THE TIME. I SUPPOSE IT'S POSSIBLE THAT'S WHAT CAUSED THE TINY CHIP. I HAVE RECEIVED STONE CHIPS WITH OTHER CARS BUT NEVER HAD ONE PROGRESS INTO A MAJOR CRACK LIKE THIS BEFORE.
ON OCTOBER 15, 2019 MY HUSBAND, I AND OUR GRANDSON WERE DRIVING ON A TOWN STREET AND THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW GLASS ON THE RIGHT SIDE BROKE AND SHATTERED AND GLASS FLEW ALL OVER THE CAR. THERE WAS A LANDSCAPER ON A LAWN FACING AWAY FROM THE ROAD BUT NO ROCK OR ANYTHING CAME AT THE WINDOW. ON DECEMBER 11, 2019 A TRUCK DROVE BY OUR CAR PARKED IN FRONT OF OUR HOUSE ON A SIDE STREET AND THIS TIME THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW ON THE LEFT SIDE BROKE AND THE GLASS SHATTERED ALL OVER THE CAR. BOTH OF THESE INCIDENTS SEEMED TO HAPPEN FROM THE FORCE OF THE AIR/WIND PRESSURE. WE BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THESE WINDOWS AS THEY SHOULD NOT SHATTER OUT OF NOWHERE LIKE THIS. WE CONTACTED DONALDSONS SUBARU IN SAYVILLE, NY AND WERE TOLD THE REPAIRS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. WE EXPLAINED THAT NOTHING CAUSED THESE WINDOWS TO SHATTER, SO WE SHOULD NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. WE ALSO CALLED THE SUBARU CORPORATE OFFICE AND WERE TOLD IT IS 'ENVIRONMENTAL' SO THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE. WE HAVE NOTICED ONLINE THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH SUBARU VEHICLES ALSO COMPLAINED OF THIS SAME THING HAPPENING. THIS IS DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY AS WE DRIVE WITH OUR GRANDSON IN THE BACK SEAT. WE BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SUBARU SHOULD ADDRESS AND BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR. WE HAD THE FIRST WINDOW REPAIRED ON JANUARY 20, 2019 AT THE COST TO US OF $550 DOLLARS. ON FEBRUARY 4, 2019 WE ARE HAVING THE SECOND WINDOW REPAIRED AT THE SAME COST. WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY TO WORK, THE WINDSHIELD SUDDENLY CRACKED, OUT OF NOWHERE, NO ROCK CHIP, NO IMPACT FROM OUTSIDE. IT'S A 3 MONTHS OLD FORESTER 2019 WITH ~5000 MILES ON IT. REALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE QUALITY OF THE GLASS.
MY WINDSHIELD RANDOMLY CRACKED. ONE MORNING I WOKE UP AND WENT OUT TO MY CAR AND IT HAD A LARGE CRACK AFTER BEING PARKED OUTSIDE OF MY APARTMENT ALL NIGHT.
I PURCHASED A 2019 SUBARU FORESTER IN MID-JULY AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE TWO WINDSHIELDS DUE TO CRACKING. THE FIRST REPLACEMENT WAS IN SEPTEMBER DUE TO A ROCK HITTING THE WINDSHIELD ON THE FAR RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE. THE CHIP QUICKLY DEVELOPED INTO AN 18' CRACK. I NOTICED A SECOND CRACK YESTERDAY WHICH ORIGINATED BEHIND THE WIPER BLADE IN THE BOTTOM CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD THAT EXTENDS ON A 16' ARCH IN THE SAME DIRECTION OF THE WIPER BLADE MOTION. THERE IS VERY SMALL CHIP, LOCATED BEHIND THE METAL PORTION OF THE WIPER BLADE FROM A ROCK THAT MUST HAVE FALLEN OUT OF THE SKY. I WAS TRAVELING IN THE VEHICLE ON M55 BETWEEN LAKE CITY AND CADILLAC ON PAVED ROADS BUT HAD STARTED OUT THE MORNING IN MARQUETTE, MI WHERE THE TEMPERATURES WHERE IN THE 30S WITH A RAIN/SNOW MIX. I DID NOT HEAR ANY ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD.
WINDSHIELD WAS STRUCK BY A ROCK IN THE BLACK AREA AT THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE DING IS TINY WITH NO SPIDERWEB CRACKS RADIATING FROM IT. A COUPLE WEEKS LATER, A LARGE CRACK STARTED FROM THE DING AND WEND DOWN AND ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND NEXT THING I KNEW THERE WAS A HUGE CRACK THAT FORMED ACROSS MY WINDSHIELD. I DIDN'T SEE OR HEAR ANYTHING AND THEN SAW THE CRACK SPIRAL. WHEN I LOOKED THERE WAS AN EXTREMELY SMALL CHIP IN THE BLACK AREA OF THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING AND REALLY DIDN'T KNOW HOW THAT CHIP IN THE BOTTOM CORNER TURNED IN TO A CRACK AT LEAST HALF AS LONG AS THE WINDSHIELD.
JUST YESTERDAY MY SUBARU EXPERIENCED AN INEXPLICABLE SUDDEN WINDSHIELD FRACTURE. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WARMING UP AND I TURNED ON THE FRONT DEFROSTER AND SUDDENLY, FROM THE BOTTOM CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD, A GIANT CRACK APPEARED OUT OF NOWHERE. MY FORESTER CURRENTLY HAS 7600 MILES ON IT AND A ROCK/STONE HAS NEVER STRUCK MY WINDSHIELD. I AM THE ONLY DRIVER OF THIS VEHICLE. THIS CRACK STARTED AT THE VERY BOTTOM CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD UNDER THE PLASTIC MOLDING PART AND MADE ITS WAY UP FROM THERE. THE CRACK STARTED IMMEDIATELY ADJACENT TO THE HEATING ELEMENTS / DEFROSTER ON THE BOTTOM MIDDLE FRONT WINDSHIELD AS SOON AS I ACTIVATED THE FRONT DEFROST FEATURE.
WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN DECEMBER 2018. SINCE THEN WE HAVE HAD THE WINDSHIELD CRACK ON US TWICE. THE FIRST CRACK DEVELOPED 3 MONTHS AFTER THE DATE OF THE PURCHASE. WE NOTICED THE CRACK AFTER GETTING BACK INTO THE VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS PARKED OUTSIDE. THE SECOND CRACK APPEARED IN OCTOBER 2019. THE SECOND CRACK DEVELOPED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. IT WAS EARLY IN THE MORNING AND THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS DRIVING AND HIT A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD. IMMEDIATELY RIGHT AFTER I NOTICE THE CRACK DEVELOP. BOTH TIMES THE CRACK WAS ON THE DRIVER SIDE DIRECTLY ACROSS THE LINE OF SIGHT.
I DROVE TO A SHOPPING CENTER AND PARKED. AFTER A COUPLE HOURS, I RETURNED TO MY CAR, AND FOUND THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED FROM THE TOP PASSENGER SIDE DIAGONALLY ACROSS TO THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. I HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED BY SAFELITE.
THERE WINDSHIELD WENT FROM FINE, NOT CHIPPED OR CRACKED IN THE EVENING TO HAVING AN 18INCH CRACK IN THE MORNING. NOTHING OCCURRED DURING THIS TIME TO CAUSE THE CRACK. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE BACK OF MY DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT. THE CRACK CONTINUE TO GROW ANOTHER 6 INCHES BEFORE IT WAS REPLACED 24HRS AFTER THE CRACK APPEARED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PREMIER SUBARU WATERTOWN, 795 STRAITS TURNPIKE, WATERTOWN, CT 06795, AND WAS INFORMED THAT SHE WOULD NEED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 7,000.

THE CONTACT RESEARCHED THE FAILURE AND FOUND THAT NUMEROUS SUBARU VEHICLES HAD THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT CALLED HIS INSURANCE COMPANY AND WAS REFERRED TO A GLASS COMPANY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,600.
REAR LIFT GATE WILL NOT OPEN WITH FOB OR USING THE BUTTON WITHIN THE CAB.
HAD THE VEHICLE ABOUT 3 MONTHS AND WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED CRACK IN UPPER LEFT CORNER OF WINDSHIELD. VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON INTERSTATE BUT DO NOT RECALL BEING HIT WITH ROCK OR DEBRIS.
FRONT WINDSHIELD PITTED BEFORE WE HAD 500 MILES ON IT
VERY WEAK WINDSHIELD A VERY SMALL ROCK CAUSED A CRACK ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD IT DIDN'T EVEN HIT IT DIRECTLY OR HARD.
A FEW WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING MY BRAND NEW 2019 SUBARU FORESTER, I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED. THERE WAS NO ROCK OR ANY DEBRIS THAT FLEW TOWARDS MY WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK STARTED NEAR THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND ANGLED DOWN AND TOWARD THE DRIVER'S SIDE. IT STARTED AT ABOUT 6 INCHES AND PROGRESSED TO AT LEAST A FOOT LONG BY THE END OF THE TRIP. *TR
WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION THE PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF LIGHT REMAINS ILLUMINATED. THIS STARTED INTERMITTENTLY YESTERDAY, ON MY 4TH DAY OF OWNING THE NEW CAR! THE SUBARU ALERT SYSTEM ALSO NOTIFIED ME THAT SOMETHING WASN'T WORKING AND THAT IT WOULD REQUIRE A SERVICE CALL.
REAR HATCH WILL NOT OPEN. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RANDOM AND PERIODIC SINCE WE TOOK DELIVERY FROM DEALER AT END OF MAY, 2019. TODAY AFTER SHOPPING I TRIED TO PLACE ITEMS IN THE HATCH. IT WOULD NOT OPEN. I TRIED THE INSIDE BUTTON AND THE HANDLE ON THE HATCH, NEITHER WORKED. I LOADED THE ITEMS IN THE BACK SEAT, STARTED THE CAR THEN STARTED TO BACK OUT OF THE SPACE. AS VEHICLE TRAVELED IN REVERSE THERE WAS A NOISE LIKE A MOTOR AND THE HATCH OPENED. DEALER HAS NOT BEEN HELPFUL SO FAR BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IT OPENED WHILE IN MOTION
OWNED THIS CAR FOR 3 MONTHS AND 4X THE REAR GATE DOES NOT OPEN USING THE APPROPRIATE BUTTON ON THE DASHBOARD. REQUIRES USE OF KEY FOB REAR GATE OPEN/CLOSE BUTTON OR FLATTENING BACK SEAT TO DRAG GROCERIES OUT SIDE DOOR. HAPPENS IN PARK WHEN TRYING TO UNLOAD ITEMS FROM REAR.
THE BACK DOOR WILL NOT OPEN WITH REMOTE CONTROL, DASHBOARD OPEN BUTTON, OR MANUAL BUTTON ON DOOR ITSELF. THERE ARE WAYS MECHANICS CAN OPEN IT, BUT NOT YOUR AVERAGE CHILD OR ADULT. SOMETIMES THE BACK GATE IS IS THE ONLY WAY OUT TO RESCUE A PASSENGER. THIS GATE FAILS AND COULD CAUSE DEATH IN EMERGENCIES LIKE WHEN TRAPPED IN CAR DURING HOT (OR COLD) WEATHER, AND IF IT IS THE ONLY WAY OUT IN ACCIDENTS. THIS FAULT HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY, BUT IT IS REPORTED ALL OVER THE INTERNET FOR THIS MODEL.
***WINDSHIELD CRACKED*** JUST LIKE MANY OTHERS THAT REPORTED THE SAME. THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED STANDING IN THE GARAGE. STARTED FROM ALL THE WAY ON THE BOTTOM AND ARCHED OVER TO THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND SO FAR IT HAS STOPPED SPREADING. THERE IS NO SIGN OR IMPACT FROM ANY ROCKS OR DEBRIS. JUST A SOLID LINE. I HOPE SUBARU WILL LIVE UP TO THIS AND REPLACE THE WINDSIELD AND CALIBRATE THE EYE SIGHT UNDER FULL WARRANTY. CAR HAS 12K AND HAD IT SINCE FEB. 2019. THERE IS A LAWSUIT CURRENTLY PENDING ON THIS ISSUE AND IT STATED TO FILE A COMPLAINT HERE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE OF HOW SAFE THEY CLAIM IT IS. NOW I HAVE A NEW BORN AND I DONT KNOW IF THIS CAR IS AS SAFE AS IT CLAIMS TO BE DUE TO THIS FAULTY WINDSHIELD.
