WAS MERGING TO HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 35 MPH, WHEN SUDDENLY HEARD SOMETHING HITTING WINDSHIELD. SAW TINY DOT ON WINDSHIELD AND THE MAKING OF THE LINE ON IT THAT IT CRACKED. VEHICLE HAD UNDER 6000 MILES. BELIEVE THAT WINDSHIELD IS DEFECTIVE. WENT TO DEALER TO HAVE IT REPLACED. NO COMPENSATION FROM SUBARU.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS A SMALL ROCK (SOUNDED LIKE A SMALL 'CLICK') HIT THE WINDSHIELD. THERE WAS NO IMMEDIATE CRACK WITH ONLY A SMALL CHIP IN THE WINDSHIELD. AFTER LEAVING WORK THAT DAY THE CHIP HAD TURNED INTO A CRACK APPROXIMATELY 6 INCHES IN LENGTH. THE CRACK CONTINUED TO INCREASE IN LENGTH OVER THE NEXT TWO DAYS AND EVEN SPLIT OFF INTO A SECONDARY CRACK.
THE WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT ABOUT 40MPH ON A HOT DAY MID-SEPTEMBER WITH THE A/C GOING. THERE WAS A SUDDEN "POP" AND I NOTICED A CURVED CRACK HAD INSTANTLY APPEARED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THERE WERE NO CARS NEAR ME. LOOKING AT THE WINDSHIELD, I DIDN'T SEE AN OBVIOUS IMPACT BUT I COULD SEE NEAR THE DEFROSTER TRACES THE CRACK APPEARED TO FORM THERE. I'M CONCERNED THIS COULD HAVE BEEN FROM THERMAL STRESS AND THE WINDSHIELD SHOULD NOT HAVE CRACKED THAT EASILY. THE CRACK APPEARS TO BE COMING FROM INSIDE TO OUTSIDE AND SOME OF THE GLASS SORT OF FLAKED WHEN I PROBED IT WITH MY FINGER.
I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A CITY STREET ON HOT DAY WITH THE A/C ON WHEN THERE WAS A LOUD "POP". A DIAGONAL CRACK INSTANTLY APPEARED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IN THE WINDSHIELD. NO OTHER CARS WERE NEAR ME AND I WAS GOING ABOUT 40MPH. THE CAR HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN SITTING IN THE SUN WITH A WINDSHIELD SHADE FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES. I'D BEEN DRIVING ABOUT 5 MINUTES WHEN THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED. WHEN I INSPECTED THE CRACK, IT APPEARED NEAR THE DEFROSTER AND APPEARED TO FLAKE A BIT WHEN I PROBED IT WITH MY FINGER. IT APPEARS TO BE A CRACK STARTING FROM THE INSIDE TO OUT. THIS COULD BE THERMAL STRESS AND I'M CONCERNED BECAUSE THE CAR HAS UNDER 250 MILES ON IT AND NO WINDSHIELD SHOULD CRACK THAT EASILY.
I WAS INVOLVED IN A 4 CAR ACCIDENT. I WAS REAR ENDED BY TWO VEHICLES BEHIND ME WHICH SENT ME INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. MY 2019 SUBARU FORESTER'S AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND MY SEAT BELT DID NOT RESTRAIN ME; THEREFORE, I WAS THROW INTO THE WINDSHIELD SUPPORT POST AND SUFFERED A HEAD INJURY. I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH MY SUBARU AND PRAY FOR OTHERS OUT THERE WITH THIS VEHICLE! NEW BERN, NC
I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR 6 MONTHS AND THE CAR ONLY HAS 3500 MILES. I HAVE HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPAIRED TWICE IN THE PAST MONTH DUE TO CHIPS. THE GLASS SEEMS VERY WEAK AND CRACKS WITH THE SLIGHTEST IMPACT. I'VE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS WITH ANY OTHER CARS. IT USUALLY TAKES A BIG ROCK TO CRACK IT.
I WAS DRIVING ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY ABOUT 55 MPH WHEN MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED. WHEN I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER I COULD NOT SEE A ROCK OR ANYTHING ELSE, EXCEPT A TINY DOT AND A CRACK GOING OUT FROM IT. OVER THE NEW FEW DAYS THE CRACK STARTED GROWING. THE CAR WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW AND I ONLY HAD IT FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS BEFORE THIS INCIDENT.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE DRIVING ON A BAY BRIDGE 1 MONTH AFTER WE GOT OUR NEW SUBARU FORESTER. THERE WERE NO CARS IN FRONT AND NO SIGNS OF ANY OBJECTS HITTING THE GLASS. IT WAS REALLY SUSPICIOUS AND WE DECIDED TO SEARCH FOR ANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND FOUND A LOT HERE, SO IT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE SOME MANUFACTURER ISSUE.
I PURCHASED A 2019 SUBARU FORESTER, SPORT IN NOVEMBER 2018. IN MARCH/APRIL MY WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED BY A SMALL ROCK THAT HIT IT ON A SMALL COUNTRY ROAD. I HAD TO HAVE IT COMPLETELY REPLACED. NOW FIVE MONTHS LATER, A SMALL ROCK HIT MY WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING ON A 2 LANE TOWNSHIP ROAD, AND IT CRACKED AGAIN. I HAVE TO HAVE IT COMPLETELY REPLACED AGAIN AND PAY ANOTHER DEDUCTIBLE FEE. I'VE HAD OTHER, NON-SUBARU, VEHICLES AND MY WINDSHIELDS HAVE NEVER CRACKED WITH A ROCK HITTING THEM. THIS IS MY 2ND SUBARU VEHICLE. MY FIRST MODEL, A 2010 FORESTER ALSO HAD TO HAVE IT'S WINDSHIELD REPLACED DUE TO THE WINDSHIELD CRACKING DUE TO TEMPERATURE CHANGES. THERE IS NO WAY THAT THE SIZE OF ROCK THAT HIT MY GLASS SHOULD HAVE CAUSED THE DAMAGE THAT IT HAS, NOW MULTIPLE TIMES.
THE WINDSHIELD HAD A LONG CRACK THAT RAN FROM THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE CRACK.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED TWO INSTANCES OF PHANTOM BRAKING, SIMILAR TO REPORTS I'VE READ ABOUT NISSAN ROGUES. ONCE IN JULY, AND ONCE LAST WEEK. IN BOTH CASES I WAS DRIVING AT LOW HIGHWAY SPEED ON A SUNNY AFTERNOON. THE CAR'S "OBJECT DECTECTED" WARNING FLASHED AND BEEPED, AND THE CAR BRAKED AUTOMATICALLY, FOR NO REASON. I SUSPECT BRIGHT SUNLIGHT AND/OR A SHADOW ON THE HIGHWAY WAS TO BLAME
MOON ROOF WILL RANDOMLY FAIL TO CLOSE WHEN PRESSING THE "CLOSE" BUTTON. NEED TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF AND THEN RE-START THE VEHICLE AGAIN BEFORE THE BUTTON/MOON ROOF WILL OPERATE AGAIN. IT ALREADY HAPPENED THREE TIMES SINCE SEPTEMEBER 7, 2019.
WHILE DRIVING I HAVE GOTTEN TWO WINDSHIELD DINGS/CRACKS THAT HAVE BEEN REPAIRED . ANOTHER JUST APPEARED OUT OF NO WHERE. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING WRONG AS THIS IS THE SAME AMOUNT AS IN ALMOST 50 YEARS OF DRIVING. NEVER HAD THIS MANY PROBLEMS WITH A WINDSHIELD!
WHEN I PARKED MY CAR AT MY WORKPLACE THERE WAS NO VISIBLE DAMAGE TO THE WINDSHIELD AND WHEN I RETURNED AFTERWARDS, THERE WAS A LARGE CRACK, OVER A FOOT LONG COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE. UPON INSPECTION, THERE IS AN EXTREMELY TINY POINT OF IMPACT FROM A TINY PEBBLE. THE WINDSHIELD IS SO FRAGILE. I SUSPECT THEY USE THINNER GLASS TO ALLOW EYESIGHT TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. I'VE HEARD OF PEOPLE NEEDING TO REPLACE WINDSHIELDS WITHIN WEEKS OF EACH OTHER. IT'S CONCERNING WHEN SUBARU MARKETS THESE VEHICLES TO BE CAPABLE OF HANDLING ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS WHEN THE WINDSHIELD IS NOT EVEN STRONG ENOUGH TO WITHSTAND A TINY PEBBLE. I DRIVE THE SPEED LIMITS, NEVER TAILGATE, AND I NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM ON ANY OTHER VEHICLES I'VE OWNED. I'M TRULY DISAPPOINTED THAT I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE MY WINDSHIELD AND HAVE EYESIGHT RECALIBRATED, WHICH WILL BE VERY COSTLY, WITH LESS THAN 4,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER.
WE HAD JUST PURCHASED OUR NEW 2019 SUBARU FORESTER IN LATE MARCH/EARLY APRIL 2019. IN SEPTEMBER 2019, WE TOOK A TRIP TO SPICER RESERVOIR IN CALIFORNIA FROM THE SF BAY AREA IN CALIFORNIA. ON OUR WAY BACK DOWN THE MOUNTAIN, THERE WERE NO CARS IN FRONT OF US. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR, AND THERE WAS NO WIND. WE WE'RE DESCENDING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN ROADS. SUDDENLY, THE WINDSHIELD MADE A LOUD POP SOUND, AND CRACK STARTED EMERGING FROM THE WINDSHIELD WIPER AREA. THERE WAS NO ROCK OR IMPACT THAT STARTED THE CRACK. AGAIN, THERE WERE NO CARS IN FRONT OF US THAT COULD HAVE FLUNG DEBRIS AT US. WE THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS CAUSED BY A PRESSURE CHANGED? WE HAD NO EXPLANATION FOR THE CRACK. THE CRACK CONTINUED TO CREATE A LARGE, ~2 FOOT LONG, QUESTION MARK-SHAPED CRACK INTO THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. WE INSPECTED THE CRACK AND THERE IS NO IMPACT MARK AT ALL, AND IT LOOKS LIKE THE CRACK BEGAN BELOW THE BOTTOM SEAL OF THE WINDSHIELD. REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELDS WERE QUOTED IN THE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS AND WE CAN'T AFFORD THAT. READING OTHER FORUM POSTS ABOUT THIS INCIDENT MADE IT CLEAR THAT THIS INCIDENT WAS NOT ISOLATED TO JUST OUR CAR.
WHILE DRIVING AROUND 30MPH THE CAR WILL SOMETIMES HESITATE AND THEN LURCH IF THE GAS PEDAL IS VERY LIGHTLY PRESSED. SOMETIMES IT WILL DO IT AT HIGHER SPEEDS AS WELL, AROUND 50MPH BUT NOT TYPICALLY AT FREEWAY SPEED. HAPPENS ON MOUNTAIN ROADS AND CITY STREETS. MOST NOTICEABLE WHEN KEEPING SPEED WITH A CAR AHEAD. WHEN PRESSING HARDER ON THE GAS PEDAL IT IS USUALLY NOT NOTICEABLE. WHEN DRIVING IN 'SPORT' MODE OR WITH MANUAL PADDLE SHIFTERS SET AT 4TH GEAR OR LOWER IT DOES NOT HAPPEN. THIS IS A CVT SPORT MODEL. DROVE A LOANER OF THE SAME YEAR AND TRIM, WHICH SHOWED SIMILAR BEHAVIOR, ALTHOUGH LESS COMMON. SUBARU CLAIMS IT IS NORMAL BEHAVIOR.
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON SEPTEMBER 3, 2019, I HEARD A NOISE AND SAW THAT A CRACK APPEARED TO THE LEFT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE WINDOW. IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 4 INCHES STRAIGHT ACROSS. I CALLED MY INSURANCE AGENCY TO REPORT IT. IT TOOK A WEEK FOR THE WINDSHIELD TO COME IN. DURING THAT WEEK THE CRACK SPREAD TO THE CENTER OF THE CAR. THE WINDSHIELD COMPANY FIXED IT AND 2 WEEKS TO THE DAY, MY HUSBAND AND I WERE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND HEARD SOMETHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD. I KNOW HAVE A SPIDER WEB CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD. SO FAR IT HASN'T GONE ANY FURTHER SO I HAVE NOT CONTACTED MY INSURANCE COMPANY YET.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN COLORADO AND WAS A GOOD DISTANCE FROM THE CARS AHEAD OF ME WHEN A ROCK CHIPPED MY WINDSHIELD. WITHIN 5 MINUTES THE CHIP HAD CRACKED ACROSS THE GLASS.
The windshield cracked and spiderwebbed.
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH ON A WELL TRAVELED ROAD I'M ASSUMING A SMALL STONE CAUSE A MINUTE DIVOT IN THE WINDSHIELD. I WAS PLANNING ON REPAIRING IT THE FOLLOWING MORNING. THE NEXT MORNING THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED. I PURCHASED MY SUBARU FORESTER TOURING AUGUST 2019. I DIDN'T EVEN OWN IT A MONTH AND HAVEN'T EVEN MADE A PAYMENT. NEEDLESS TO SAY I HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD AND HAVE THE SENSORS RECALIBRATED. I HAD MANY STONES HIT MY WINDSHIELD IN THE PAST AND I NEVER HAD TO REPLACE IT JUST REPAIR. I FOUND IT ODD AT THE TIME, THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD CRACKED. NOW AFTER READING ON CAR AND DRIVER, FACEBOOK AND NOW NHTSA I DECIDED TO REPORT IT. SINCE THE SENSOR ONLY WORKS WITH OEM GLASS AND YOU CAN'T USE RAINX I'M ASSUMING THE WINDSHIELD GLASS HAS SOME TYPE OF ISSUES. WHY ELSE COULD I NOT USE A NON OEM GLASS? I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP A KNOWN ISSUE IS THE SENSOR MAY NOT WORK.
1. WHEN START THE VEHICLE COLD OR WARM, THE ENGINE IS LOUD AND HIGH RPM FOR 60 SECONDS. VEHICLE SHAKES 2. AFTER 60 SECONDS, THE RATTLE/KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE KICKS IN AND STAYS ON. THE NOISE OCCURS 90% OF THE NUMBER OF TIMES STARTING THE VEHICLE. 3. HUGE AMOUNT OF WHITE SMOKE FROM TAILPIPE WHEN STARTUP THE ENGINE. SMOKE GRADUALLY REDUCE 4. REAR TAIL GATE DOES NOT OPEN WHEN USING BUTTON ON REMOTE, BUTTON ON THE VEHICLE AND BUTTON RIGHT ON THE TAILGATE.
DEFECTED WINDSHIELD, WINDSHIELD CRACKED. WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ATTACHED PHOTOS ARE THE SAME TODAY AS THE DAY IT HAPPEN.
WINDSHIELD DEFECT. IT JUST CRACKED BY ITSELF WITHOUT ANY OUTSIDE FORCE. THE CRACK STARTED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT AT MOTION. IT WAS AFTER BEING PARKED.
ONE DAY I WAKE UP TO DRIVE MY CAR TO WORK TO FIND A SMALL CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD WITH NO SINGLE REASON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN
A SPONTANEOUS 20-25IN WINDSHIELD CRACK HAS APPEARED OVERNIGHT WHILE MY 2019 SUBARU FORESTER WAS PARKED IN A COVERED PARKING SPOT AT MY HOME ON 8/25/2019. I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THIS IN THE MORNING ON SUNDAY AS THERE WAS NO CRACK ON SATURDAY AND THE CAR WAS JUST SITTING THERE OVERNIGHT. SEEMS LIKE THE CRACK STARTED BELOW THE DRIVER'S WINDOW WIPER (WHERE THE WIPER HEATING ELEMENT IS LOCATED) AND DEVELOPED A C-SHAPE CRACK UP AND TO THE LEFT TOWARDS THE DRIVER'S VIEW SIDE. NO SIGNS OF CHIPS OR DENTS ON THE WINDSHIELD, IT HAS CRACKED FOR NO OBVIOUS REASON. PLEASE SEE PICTURES ATTACHED. I HAVE GOOGLED THIS ISSUE AND IT SEEMS THAT THERE WERE A LOT OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT OUTBACK AND FORESTER IN THE PAST. IT WOULD BE NICE IF SUBARU ACKNOWLEDGED AND FIXED THIS ISSUE. AS I WAS DRIVING IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE ON THE INTERSTATE, MY BACK SIDE DOOR WINDOW SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED. I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR ONE HOUR, TEMPERATURE WAS AROUND 80 DEGREES.
I WAS BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE, APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH. REAR VIEW MIRROR FELL OFF WINDSHIELD. WINDSHIELD AT PLACE OF MIRROR ATTACHMENT HAD BROKEN SO A LARGE CHUNK OF THE WINDSHIELD WAS STILL ATTACHED TO THE MIRROR. WAS NOT A FULL THICKNESS BREAK BUT CREATED A DIVOT IN THE WINDSHIELD APPROXIMATELY 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER. THERE WAS NO PREVIOUS DAMAGE TO THIS AREA OF WINDSHIELD. CAR HAD BEEN IN NO ACCIDENTS. THERE WAS A VERY SMALL (1/2 INCH) STAR IN WINDSHIELD TOWARD OUTSIDE OF PASSENGER SIDE WHICH OCCURRED FROM ROCK 4 MONTHS BEFORE AND WAS NOT ENLARGING.
I WENT OUTSIDE IN THE MORNING AND MY SUBARU HAD A HUGE CRACK ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED TO CAUSE THE CRACK. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY RIGHT UP IN FRONT OF THE GARAGE. THE CRACK RADIATED OUT ACROSS THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD AND RENDERED THE EYE-SIGHT UNABLE TO WORK. INSURANCE STATE FARM CLAIM NUMBER IS 19-B151-3T0
KEY CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM IGNITION SWITCH EVEN IF VEHICLE IS IN PARK. OCCURS ON A REGULAR BASIS NOW. THERE IS A SUBARU TSB FOR THIS (16-112-18R).
1. WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION (AND UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS) ON HIGHWAYS, MY FRONT WINDSHIELD HAS CRACKED 4X SINCE TAKING DELIVERY OF NEW VEHICLE AT THE END OF JULY 2019. ONCE THE FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKS, IT CONTINUES TO SPREAD. DURING THE PROCESS OF PAYING FOR THE VEHICLE, I WAS ENCOURAGED AT EVERY STEP TO PURCHASING ADDITIONAL WINDSHIELD COVERAGE TO COVER THE COST OF REPLACING THE FRONT WINDSHIELD IN CASE IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE EYESIGHT CAMERA SYSTEM. THE WINDSHIELD HAS CRACKED ON THE INTERSTATE, A STATE TOLLWAY, AND A HIGHWAY. 2. THE BLUE TEMPERATURE LIGHT TURNS ON FOR FIVE MINUTES OR MORE WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DISMISS ME SAYING THAT THIS IS A NORMAL CONDITION OF THE CAR (WHICH WAS NOT MENTIONED DURING THE SALES PROCESS) AND TO JUST WAIT UNTIL THE BLUE TEMPERATURE LIGHT GOES OUT BEFORE DRIVING THE CAR. WHEN TAKING THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD FOR 4TH TIME, THEY FINALLY LISTENED TO ME AND ADDED CHECKING THE COOLANT TO THE LIST BUT IT HAS BEEN A FIGHT TO HAVE THIS LOOKED AT. 3. WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND WITH NO OTHER CARS IN FRONT OF ME, TO THE SIDE OR BEHIND ME, THE CAR PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM ACTIVATED AND BRAKED THE CAR ON ITS OWN. THERE WAS NO PRE-WARNING THAT THE CAR WAS GOING TO BRAKE. 4. THE CAR AUTO LIGHT ON AND OFF FUNCTION DOES NOT FULLY TURN ON THE CAR LIGHTS AT NIGHT. 5. WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION AND BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, I HEAR A BIG KA-THUNK SOUND FROM THE FRONT LEFT OF THE CAR. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH WAY THE STEERING IS BEING TURNED. ORDERED THE CAR IN JUNE 2019, WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR WOULDN'T BE READY UNTIL MID-AUG. DUE TO THE FACTORY SHUTTING DOWN FOR A TWO WEEK HOLIDAY IN JAPAN, RECEIVED NOTICE FROM THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE CAR HAD BEEN DELIVERED MUCH EARLIER THAN EXPECTED IN JULY.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO REASON
08/16/19 I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 70MPH, I HEARD A VERY FAINT "TINK" AND SAW A 1 INCH CRACK ON THE LOWER PASSENGER SIDE NEAR THE OUTER EDGE. I DID NOT SEE A ROCK AND IT DEFINITELY WAS NOT A LOUD SOUND LIKE A NORMAL ROCK CHIP WOULD CREATE. MY INSURANCE SET UP AN APPOINTMENT AT 8:00 AM THE FOLLOWING MORNING 08/17/19 WITH SAFELITE TO REPAIR IT. AFTER BEING AT SAFELIGHT FOR ONLY 5 MINUTES THE TECH COMES OUT TO TELL ME THE WINDSHIELD SPLIT AND NOW I HAVE A 19 INCH CRACK ACROSS MY WINDSHIELD AND IT MUST BE REPLACED AND THE CAMERAS RECALIBRATED THROUGH SUBARU. I NOW HAVE TO DRIVE MY 1 MONTH OLD SUBARU FORESTER SPORT WITH A CRACKED WINDSHIELD UNTIL MY SUBARU DEALER CAN GET ME A NEW WINDSHIELD AND REPAIR DATE. I'VE OWNED HONDA, TOYOTA , SCION, CHEVY, GMC, ACURA, LEXUS AND FORD AND HAVE NEVER HAD A WINDSHIELD CRACK OR SPLIT. THIS SEEMS TO BE WAY TOO COMMON WITH THESE SUBARU WINDSHIELDS.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO REASON. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND IT CRACKED. I HAD IT REPLACED WITH A NEW SUBARU WINDSHIELD AND 2 WEEKS LATER THE NEW WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE.
I WENT TO MY STATIONARY VEHICLE IN A.M.AND NOTICED THE WINDSHIELD HAD A LONG CRACK WITH NO APPARENT REASON. NO NICKS OR OTHER DAMAGE NOTED THAT COULD CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN. I DIDN'T EVEN MAKE THE FIRST PAYMENT ON THE VEHICLE BEFORE THIS OCCURRED. AFTER CALLING NUMEROUS AFTERMARKET WINDSHIELD COMPANIES THE ONLY WINDSHIELD YOU CAN GET IS THE OEM IF YOU WANT THE EYESIGHT CAMERAS TO WORK AND YOU MUST HAVE THE EYESIGHT CAMERA RECALIBRATE BY THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER READING ALL THESE WINDSHIELD COMPLAINTS I WONDER HOW MANY SIMILAR WINDSHIELD ISSUES HAVE OCCURRED THAT HAVE NOT BEEN REPORTED ON NHTSA? JUST GOOGLE 2019 SUBARU FORESTER DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD. THIS ISSUE IS TO WIDE SPREAD.
Car battery drained. Have had to call AAA twice. Have now purchased another battery and it failed to auto start when I attempted to cross the intersection.
WINSHIELD HAS CRACKED TWICE ON A 2019 SUBARU FORRESTER. EITHER THE ANGLE OF THE WINDSHIELD, OR THE QUALITY OF THE GLASS IS A VERY POOR DESIGN. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED, BECAUSE I'M SURE THIS WILL BECOME A COMMON PROBLEM.
A LARGE CRACK IN THE WINDSHEILD THOUGH THE TOP CENTER , WHERE THE EYESIGHT TECHNOLOGY CENTER IS LOCATED, OCCURRED WITHOUT ANY INCIDENT TO CATALYZE THE CRACKING OF THE GLASS.
I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND DID NOT HEAR A ROCK OR ANY OBJECT HIT WINDSHIELD. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME I NOTICED A CRACK IN WINDSHIELD BEGINNING AT DEICER OF WINDSHIELD UP TO 25% UPWARDS FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE WINDOW APPEARS TO BE BRITTLE AND SUBARU PREVIOUSLY HAD SAME ISSUE WITH 2016 OUTBACKS. SUBARU DENIED THIS WAS WITHIN WARRANTY. I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW 3-4 WEEKS AGO.
HUSBAND WAS DRIVING HOME AFTER GRAVEYARD WORK SHIFT, WITH NO OTHER CARS ON THE HIGHWAY, WHEN HE HEARD A CRACK. HE NOTICED A CRACK COMING FROM UNDER THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD, CLOSER TO THE DRIVER SIDE. HE DID HAVE THE DEFROSTER ON. THE NEXT DAY THE CRACK HAD SPREAD AND 2 MORE CRACKS APPEARED ON THE WINDSHIELD. WE CALLED THE DEALER AND NOTIFIED THEM AND THEY SAID WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THAT SINCE WE DIDN'T PURCHASE ADDITIONAL WARRANTY, AND IT IS NOT A FACTORY DEFECT THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF. IT IS A NEW 2019 SUBARU FORESTER.
THERE HAD BEEN A SQUEAKING / CRACKLING NOISE COMING FROM THE AREA WHERE THE DASH MEETS THE WINDSHIELD. THIS NOISE ONLY OCCURRED WHEN IT WAS VERY HOT OUTSIDE 85 DEGREES OR MORE. WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED FROM THE BOTTOM UP. THE CRACK STARTING WHERE THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM. I HAVE FULL GLASS COVERAGE SO I DIDN'T THINK MUCH ABOUT IT. SINCE THEN I'VE HEARD ABOUT A POSSIBLE FAULTY WINDSHIELD IN THE 19 FORESTERS. IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN I'LL BE GOING TO SUBARU FOR A REPLACEMENT. THIS MATTER NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO AS THE CAR ONLY HAD 5,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.
I HAVE ONLY HAD MY FORESTER FOR 3-4 MONTHS WHEN I NOTICED A CHIP ON THE WINDSHIELD, I CALLED SAFE LIGHT AND THEY CAME TO REPAIR IT. THEN IT CRACKED ACROSS MY WINDSHIELD NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE VERY NEXT WEEK ANOTHER CHIP HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING UNDER 35 MPH. I HAVE TO GET THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED AND RE CALIBRATED WHICH IS 1,000-2,000 +
WINDSHIELD OF CAR CRACKED WITHOUT ANY CONTACT. THERE WAS A LOUD CRACKING NOISE AND A LARGE CRACK APPEARED WHICH KEPT GETTING LONGER AS I DROVE. THE CAR WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED ON A SUNNY NORMAL CHICAGO SUMMER DAY, ABOUT 80 DEGREES F.

THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V065000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,210.
I RECENTLY HAD MY TIRES ROTATED FOR THE FIRST TIME AND THE MECHANIC REPORTED THAT ONLY 3 OF THE 5 LUG NUTS WERE TORQUED TO SPECIFICATION. THE OTHER TWO WERE ONLY "FINGER TIGHT"

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED LACERATIONS TO HER ARM WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION CENTER IN ANNAPOLIS, BUT CURRENTLY HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. AN ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO CONTACT ANNAPOLIS SUBARU INC LOCATED AT 149 OLD SOLOMONS ISLAND RD, ANNAPOLIS, MD 21401, (443) 837-1400, BY PHONE BUT WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
FRONT WINDSHIELD ON OUR 2019 SUBARU FORESTER LIMITED CRACKED IN 2 SEPARATE EVENTS WITHIN ONE MONTH OF OWNERSHIP. THE FIRST EVENT (FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACK) OCCURRED ON THE INITIAL DRIVE HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY (NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS) WHEN THE CRACK OCCURRED SPONTANEOUSLY FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE CRACK BEGAN FROM THE PASSENGER'S SIDE EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND STRETCHED TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. PHOTO ATTACHED. THE SECOND EVENT (FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACK) OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS LATER BEFORE THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY (NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS) WHEN THE CRACK OCCURRED SPONTANEOUSLY FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE CRACK BEGAN FROM THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD (MIDDLE) AND STRETCHED TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. PHOTO ATTACHED. AFTER THE SECOND EVENT THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED. INVOICE RECEIPT ATTACHED. IN MY OPINION, THE FRONT WINDSHIELD GRASS ON THIS VEHICLE WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE WINDSHIELD'S ON THIS PARTICULAR MAKE/MODEL SHOULD BE FURTHER RESEARCHED. SOMETHING IS CLEARLY WRONG AND I'M SURE OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING SIMILAR ISSUES.
THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES/LURCHES FORWARD EVERY TIME WHEN COASTING OR SLOWLY BRAKING FROM AROUND 30MPH TO A STOP. THERE IS A NORMAL PREDICTABLE REDUCTION IN SPEED UNTIL THE CAR REACHES 15 TO 16 MPH, AT WHICH POINT IT ACCELERATES/LURCHES FORWARD. IT FEELS AS IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS SUDDENLY SHIFTING AND CREATING MORE POWER. THE SEVERITY OF THE ACCELERATION WHILE FLUCTUATES WILDLY. IN ONE INSTANCE WHILE SLOWING APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT THE CAR SEVERELY ACCELERATED FORCING ME TO HAVE TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES TO COMPENSATE AND PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM CRASHING INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF US WAITING AT THE STOP LIGHT. THE CAR CAME TO A STOP APPROXIMATELY 20 FEET IN FRONT OF WHERE WE WOULD HAVE STOPPED UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 100 MILES ON IT WHEN THE MOST SEVERE OF THESE INSTANCES OCCURRED. ON ANOTHER NOTE THE CAR HAS TROUBLE COASTING. IT DECELERATES ABNORMALLY FAST WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS.
MY COMPLAINT MAY NOT BE VALID BUT I THOUGH IT APPROPRIATE SINCE MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING WINDSHIELD PROBLEMS WITH THEIR 2018/19 SUBARU FORESTERS. I HAD A SMALL ROCK BOUNCE OF THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING AT 35MPH ON AUG 1,2019 AND NOW THE SHIELD IS SPIDER WEBBED WITH TWO LONG CRACKS AND TWO SMALLER CRACKS. FROM MY READINGS ONLINE, IT APPEARS THAT PEOPLE WITH THESE MODELS ARE HAVING TO REPLACE THEIR WINDSHIELDS AT UNUSUAL RATES. OF COURSE YOU CANNOT PREDICT WHAT A ROCK TO THE SHIELD WILL DO, BUT I DO KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE THAT DRIVING THESE SAME ROADS AND CONDITIONS FOR 20YEARS WITH TWO OTHER VEHICLES, THAT I HAVE ONLY HAD TO REPLACE TWO WINDSHIELDS. JUST MY TWO CENTS AND AFTER THIS REPLACEMENT WE SHALL SEE HOW LONG THE NEXT SHIELD LASTS.
2019 FORESTER WITH APPROXIMATELY 600 MILES HAS PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT CONSTANTLY ON. PASSENGER SAT IN SEAT, LIGHT DID NOT GO OUT. SUBARU SERVICE DID NOT ADDRESS THE PROBLEM - OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. RESEARCHING THIS - IT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS. IT'S ALSO A PROBLEM ON THE 2019 MODELS. INVESTIGATION NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO 2019 MODELS.
IN AN ACCIDENT INVOLVING FRONT END TO OTHER CAR REAR END ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, THE AIRBAG SYSTEM DIDN'T DEPLOY. THE ENGINE THEN CAUGHT FIRE IN THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE ENGINE. THE ENTIRE CAR BURNED. FORTUNATELY NO INJURY TO DRIVER OR PASSENGER.
